Haven't had the chance to test but from just reading it it seems like it's any window for 10 seconds, regardless of if there's already one blocked. Also seems like it blocks it for all survivors.

It would be fine with a very short cooldown, but as a totem perk not so much. Kinda trash even at 14 seconds.

to be fair, i did put that in there; they're underneath each perk

Literally did not see this. lol Not sure how I missed it. Were they there when you first posted it?

    Sorry. 😶

    Least scary killer ever

In your opinion. Some people might find him to be extremely scary. You are basing it on looks, and that's your choice. But fear and horror is about more than that. 🤷‍♀️

  • Edit: I missed the actual stats being put into the OP's post. My bad.

If you go into "kill your friends" you can see the 3rd level of the perks.

They aren't much different though really. Here's what I remember seeing in a video I was watching earlier. (I don't have PTB)

    ---

    Killer's:

Lasts 14 seconds instead of 10.

Each token gives 10 seconds instead of 8.

I think it's 70 second cooldown instead of 90? Not sure on this one.

    ---

    Survivor's:

Gain 3 tokens instead of 1. (massive buff compared to the rest of the perks)

Lasts for 10 seconds instead of 6.

Exhaustion lasts for 40 seconds not 60.

  • 40 seconds isn't that much. Especially if you aren't chasing a survivor yet. It could be good but I'd don't think it's "every game" good.

  • "You're good 'ol fashioned camping Bubba. 3 gens down, 3 survivors left, and yeah. This is how he wins his matches."

If he won this then that's on the Survivors, if he was camping like you are stating he was.

I personally don't have many issues playing Solo. Some Killers or teammates can be annoying but its almost always more chill and easy compared to playing Killer ever.

  • Legion 1.0 wasn't "mid" tier though.

Legion 1.0 was a Killer who was bad at actually Killing the Survivors but was really good and making their lives a living hell. Basically had no counterplay but had a difficult time actually sealing the deal. It was a mess and I don't see the new Killer being like this at all.

Way To make a problem where there isn't one. No its not about it. And me not noticing it makes my point stronger. Sexuality had no effect, so why is it such a hot topic. Thats what this post is about.

    Calm down there, Warrior.

It actually makes your point weaker.

Nurse had a husband, Nurse and Wraith are canonically a couple, Felix's story mentions he has a girlfriend and going to have a baby.

You say you don't notice it, which means that you only see sexuality when it isn't the "norm". Besides, if you think that, somehow, changing a word or defining someone's sexuality somehow hurts or detracts from the game then that's on you. A poorly written story isn't worse because the character is LGBTQ+. Felix's story is written terribly.

  • If you find your Antidote ever being used effectively by survivors you need to look at your play and get better with them.

Bad placement/poor play does not mean they are bad/useless. They aren't great, but they are functional in many situations, especially since they compound well with the Tonic.

Antidotes' + mspd% is definitely lazy though.

  • Medkits are fine. They were nerfed like a year/year and a half ago I think? Before that, they were definitely stronger.

There's a reason many players just ignore healing and play injured.

  • It’s sad that I am not surprised, I’m not even upset or disappointed. BHVR has been in a real state since October and there’s no end in sight.

I really don’t like this rift. Like, at all.

  • Neither of the things you listed are the issues we have with the new UI. They are also not a good argument for why this UI is fine, or even acceptable.

BHVR could have used the old UI and added this information, but now we have this mess where the information is all over the place and it takes up more space.

Also, they changed nothing about it from the ptb

I think it was about clearity. Items, survivors and gen count placements i get, but those white silhouettes didn't help much when trying to identify certain players, you only had to rely on the name back then

This has nothing to do with the new HUD. Portraits could have been added to the old HUD. If they couldn't do it with the system they had before they could have just reused the old design + portraits with their new system.

Many of us have exhaustively explained why it is objectively bad game design. It is a combination of spread out info, weird sizes, the fact that it looks like a mobile game's HUD/an MMO from 20 years ago, and the fact that you actually have less vision now due to it.

From the gameplay I've seen, if you don't time it perfectly (which is extremely hard and only works in very open stretches of space) it's pointless. If you have to stop moving for a second or two for the gas to speed you up, you've done nothing but lose a bottle. When it works, it saves you a few seconds which is nice, but that's 1 less bottle

Turns out all he really needed was a buff to his reload speed.

If you are waiting you aren't getting anything out of the bottle AND you used it poorly. It takes practice but saying your bad play with it shows it isn't effective is a poor argument.

  • I've been constructive and civil.

Some people are being overdramatic but most of us aren't.

Honestly? The least civil posts/threads I've seen are the ones telling other people to be more constructive and nice. 🤔

  • Making a statement about the issues the community has isn't really worth praise or appreciation.

  • They said they are going to review changes made to the UI. Meaning they are thinking about maybe changing something if they feel like it.

  • Pro-HUD posts in this thread: "I like the new HUD I just don't like the portraits or animations, or the placements of the info."

    Lmao

  • Not_Queen doesn't have much say. She's the lead community manager but she has to listen to what her bosses tell her.

She may personally think this, but it doesn't really mean much over all. Besides Not_Queen is great and she's always been a voice for us, even if she isn't around on the forums much, and I don't think anyone should, or could, blame her for this.

Can you maybe say what's bad about it and not just "iT iS bAd"

    It's objectively poor game design.

It is best to place as much information as possible in one location of the screen so players can absorb information quickly and with less eye movement. It helps players focus more on the game and less on gathering basic information.

The placement, size, and animations are worse and either too small or too easy to miss.

It takes up to much of the screen so you actually have less of the game you can actually see.

These are only a few of the issues with the new HUD.

PTB players don’t represent the whole community so what’s so bad about letting everyone test the new changes? there’s actually many players who like the changes and just because they aren’t on this forum and complaining loudly like you do, doesn’t mean they’re opinion matters less.

Imagine believing it was only those who played the PTB that gave their thoughts on the new HUD before the mid-chapter patch.

A HUD does not need to be tested. There is nothing for players to test. Watching streams and looking at images is enough to know how you feel about it. It's also more than enough to know it is objectively bad game design.

The ones that are bashing are the people who don’t like this update which is almost everybody. They’re bashing the devs and being rude to people who are okay with it. Funny thing is, people tend to get mad and react when they head the truth. Do you think I’m shocked people are hating on me cause I speak the truth?

I haven't seen anyone bash people for liking it. I've asked multiple people why they like it and all of them have not given an actual argument, or one that even works, for this specific HUD. It is objectively bad game design and I want to know why people like it and I want a good argument to support it because, as it stands, saying it is "fine" or "you'll get used to it" isn't enough and doesn't excuse the poor choices made for the new HUD. It's fine if you like it, but why do you like it. I want to know.

Also, you don't speak the truth. Sorry for speaking the truth.

@OniWantsYourMacaroni Replying to notstarboard is a waste of time. They are a contrarian and (possibly) a troll.

  • I've never been hysterical about the HUD. I've always pointed out how it is objectively a bad design, along with some snark. But I'm not going to lose my mind or insult them, that just defeats my argument and makes it easy to ignore.

  • I'll post what I posted in a previous thread:

    ---

It'll just take practice. Eventually, you'll learn how far to throw it so by the time you get there it actives/already activated so you can get the buff. Learning placements to get the most value of it while reducing the Survivors use of it would be great too. I see the potential in it, and I think it greatly increases the Clown's skill ceiling.

Since the Tonic removes the buff/slows survivors using them together could cause some real chaos. Just theorycrafting, you could place the antidote at a corner during a loop and throw the tonic at the vault. The timing could be difficult but it could be effective. But, again, it'll take time and practice but I think once people get a handle on it the Clown is going to be a bit better than he was before, especially with the reload speed increase.

    I don't play Killer though so... 🤷‍♀️

    ---

Sure, you usually only need a slowdown bottle but it's not like the speedup bottle is hurting you once you learn how to get value out of it.

  • Like: the new maps look good.

Dislike: The new HUD. I've posted about it exhaustively since it was revealed.

  • Small Game, Built to Last, Streetwise, Dance With Me. Sometimes. Small Game more than the others.

  • I am fine with the animations.

The HUD is a whole other beast though.

  • Making it bigger would make my issue with it worse.

Which is that it takes up too much real estate already. It might help with seeing information faster but then it just looks like an oversized mobile. The Survivor already takes up enough of the screen as is.

You're talking about Peanits being MIA? Patricia is still a community manager and I've never seen her anywhere but a couple dev streams over a year or two ago. What does she even do?

    Literally forgot she even existed.

I think I saw her post once like 6 months ago and I was like "who the...??" And that was literally it.

  • lmao ghost face and "constant insults about my ethnicity and sexual orientation for being an op killer.".

I couldn't read the rest of it because I'm dead.

  • @gendoss said:

lmao nobody is getting eye strain from the new UI. Every modern game out there has a UI like this. People don't play Call of Duty or League of Legends darting their eyes around the screen and get eye strain. I don't understand why people hate the UI so much and at this point people are just making stuff up. Either the community just doesn't play any other modern video game or they're just trying to find things to get mad at.

"Every modern game out there has a UI like this" No they don't. Most all games are trying to reduce the HUD as much as possible.

Besides that, League isn't nearly as fast-paced as DbD, and the information isn't needed as much.

No one is making anything up, those who have eye problems get terrible eye strain from rapid eye movements. Just because you don;t experience it doesn't mean it's made up.

Lastly, this HUD is objectively bad game design. There's a reason many older MMOs have updated their HUDs to be more streamlined, minimalistic, and condensed.

  • Its literally impossible to change your mind. This is true for anyone who asks for it to be changed. I'll give my thoughts on it anyways.

Throw it when you are going between loops, or getting around the map. Put it places where by the time you get to it it will activate and you'll get the buff but the survivor won't get much use of it. Throw a Tonic in there. Beautiful.

It's not much of a boost but how many times have Killers been just a whisper away from landing a hit?

Do I think the Clown needed a speed boost? No, he already has a slow down, but its whatever. The speed at least lasts for longer than just being in the cloud.

Clown is better than he was, if you don't like the Antidote don't use it. It literally doesn't matter. 🤷‍♀️

As someone who holds a degree in Communications and a diploma in Public Relations AND has worked in a PR firm it does not take THIS long to formulate a battleplan and issue a statement. Lol. Two hours tops assuming the statement needs to pass through various checks. Heck, five minutes to write, "To our loyal playerbase: We're really sorry about the launch of today's mid-chapter release. We've taken the time to read through the complaints and are busy working on a strategy to combat all the issues presented to us today. In the meantime, try to enjoy the game as best as you can. We will release another statement when we have more information to share. We've also sent players x bloodpoints/shards as an apology". BOOM. I wrote that in 10 seconds.

BHVR doesn't act according to our primitive understanding of time. BHVR understands time better than all, all time is occurring concurrently. They know that 2 hours is actually whenever, as 2 hours at any time is the same as any other time. Don't hold your breath as, to us, BHVR is taking a long time to do anything. But for them? It's happening right now.

    Or something like that. 🤷‍♀️

i mean they said they were aware of the backlash and didnt care. They said they had their reasons and to "trust them", and havent said another word since...

Us console players have to try it so we can give our feedback. Even though many of us have seen it, have watched streams with it, and have collectively sided with the "we hate this" camp. But BHVR believes we have some form of PC blindness that makes it so we can only understand and see something when it is on Console.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

They had plenty of time to change the UI and other things we didn't like but they didn't. The UI especially as it is not hard to change like at all, even the placement and size of the icons. If they simply wanted to change the placement of it all without refinement it could take less than a day.

For the record i do have a little bit of programing knowledge not much but seriously UI is one of the easier things you work on and it shouldn't take more than a week to change just the placement and other things to what you want and that's an extremely generous timeframe and they had twice that since the ptb to work on it.

All the hostile negative feedback IMO is deserved. they ignored us and pushed this though for console and as a console player who has talked with a ton of others and is in a lot of clubs WE DON"T LIKE IT.

They said they didn't have time.

I mean, it's hard to believe you can't make changes to something that isn't being released for a month, but that's what they said.

    ---

I've been civil, but I'm not going to stop being snarky about the hot water BHVR seems to be bathing in since October.

Your idea that PC players are the supreme masters of Dead by Daylight, entitled to decide, at their own discretion, what is allowed to be released or not, while the right of the console players to try the new content is just an excuse, is intrinsecally awful: the PTB is intended to collect data about bugs and severely hurting unbalances, which would break the game if they were released in the live version, not more, not less. PC players' tastes about the patch changes are not a good reason to prevent all the other players from trying them and have their direct experience, and Youtube or Twitch streamers don't change the difference between seeing and playing something.

On the merits, I like very much the new HUD: it introduces some freshness to the layout, give us more options to change its size, and leave more space in the bottom side of the screen, which is the most important. I don't know what will happen in the future, but today the survivors and the stealth killers don't fly in the sky, but crouch on the ground to evade the killer or to ambush the unaware survivor, so a cleaner screen to check better and more quickly the bottom corners is absolutely reasonable.

In my humble opinion, the real reason behind this kind of riot against BHVR is that they removed the freedom to replace official icons with personal ones, which means they don't let you manipulate the game files, not even for aesthetical purposes. It's not hard to understand why they are not happy if you touch their files: there is a risk of cheating, and they can't check, one by one, all lines of programming on your PC, so they remove your temptation even to try.

How is the bottom side of the screen the most important? Every part of the screen is important. The bottom was the most important originally due to all of the information being there.

Also, do you like how the information is spread out everywhere? Or do you think it could be streamlined so more information is more readily available at a glance?

"Freshness to the layout" and "more options to change the size" are not good arguments for the HUD change. Changing the layout is not always a good thing, especially when what you have is good as it is. The size thing could have been added to the original HUD.

    Heads buried in the sand?

They are usually quiet though, my post regarding reverting the UI back to the previous version has 1.6k views, not a single one from a BHVR account.

I would suggest that they hire a full time community liaison manager or something to that effect, problem is that they would be on the front line and would have to deal with a daily barrage of complaints.

Peanits use to be on the Forums every day and communicated with players all the time.

He is no longer around. Same with Not_Queen.

They are both Community Managers but they don't really manage the Community. Not_Queen does the Q&A and does voice some concerns during it but it seems like they switched how they are tackling the community a year ago. Literally, how is Peanits job even community management related anymore when all he does is post Dev updates?

  • It is objectively bad game design.

It doesn't matter if people like it or can get used to it. It's terrible and can be improved in A LOT of ways.

This version isn't a mobile game but it looks like they designed it for a mobile game.

So they said in a video where they talked about this update that they needed to change the UI to make room for new stuff. Your guess is as good as the rest of ours what that new stuff might be.

Which is crazy since this HUD takes up MORE space than the original HUD.

  • Yeah, it hasn't gone through yet.

It's basically just a number change but we all know that can have a HUGE impact on the stability of the actual game.

  • Imagine thinking the HUD hasn't been around long enough for us to come to conclusions about how objectively terrible it is.

  • As a Killer, you actually have less visibility. The Hud takes up more of the screen.

Just because you are used to darting your eyes around the screen doesn't make this HUD change good, in any way. On top of that, it is different looking around for survivors/scratchmarks and looking around for basic stats.

  • "Ungrateful"?

We are allowed to give feedback on a terrible and objectively bad design choice.
