I agree, they should just rework it completely. Insta-down hatchets will never be balanced.
-
I don't think there are supposed to be any meaningful incentives. Devs wanted No Mither to be a "hard mode" perk. It's intentionally bad design. I wish they would buff it though.
-
Man, some of you REALLY hate the DC penalty. Surely an occasional 5 minute timeout (deserved or not) is a small price to pay to make the game playable. You cannot tell me the game is currently playable when players leave the match pretty much every other game.
And yes, suiciding on hook is better than DCing.
-
There's an in-game report option for an offensive name. Just report and move on.
-
Roughly 1 out of 5 of my games, someone is tunneled (not necessarily me).
Roughly 1 out of 15 of my games, the Killer face-camps (or proxy camps within 15m).
Not great, not terrible.
-
I have noticed longer queues at night for the past week or so. I'm guessing it's a mix of the Rift ending and hype dying down after the new chapter. I don't remember if it was like this last Rift, as that was like 70 days ago haha.

How could the devs achieve this though? Comms are almost entirely out of their control.
It's not enforceable whatsoever. Ideally SWFs would play without comms for the sake of the spirit of the game. Obviously that won't happen.
-
In my experience, good Huntress' still do well on bad maps. A buff is not needed. Besides, 110% MS is her only real downside. Limited hatchets don't matter if you don't miss.
-
SWF without comms would be the ideal matchup in DBD. The Survivors will play like a team but not be able to relay unfair amounts of info. Good for both sides.
-
To keep you playing as long as possible. As someone who has no need of BP anymore (until a new chapter releases), I can tell you I'm less interested in playing since there's nothing to progress towards. This is also why things like the 1 million BP cap exist - to keep you constantly progressing. Not saying I approve of it, but that's their system.
-
Botany Knowledge is better as a standalone perk than DM because it is more consistent. You will rarely have 4 stacks, especially since dead Survivors don't count.
You can pair them together, but I personally dislike dedicating more than 1 slot to healing. Unless you're in an SWF, then it can be powerful.
-
Welcome to the Forums! There was a DC penalty implemented, but it is currently disabled because of an exploit. I hope just as much as you do that it is re-enabled ASAP.
-
It doesn't show to Survivors before 1 stack anymore????? Can someone confirm? That was not in the patch notes. I've been asking for that change for a LONG time...

its honestly more of a preference, Pop + dragon’s or Undying + ruin, or if you’re feeling spicy run all 4 together
Right, both are good combos. My guess is people like myself have gotten tired of Pop after so long and want to get away from it.
Also, people have long been wary of Hex builds because of their risk. Undying mitigates the risk so people can finally experiment with totem builds with some peace of mind.

Maybe their silence is BECAUSE so many people are hating on them.
Just a thought.
This is certainly part of it. They get heavily criticized no matter what, so I don't exactly blame them for being on the quiet side.
Also OP, it's not like they want lag switchers in the game. It's an ongoing issue that can't be quickly solved. Every game has their hackers, even big AAA titles.
-
Unfortunately you have to choose between Ruin + Undying or Dragon's Grip since they don't combo. And everyone decided Undying was better. If they nerf Undying, we may see it come into the meta. Until then, probably not.
-
I have to disagree. Back when F13 was hot, DBD was in a much worse state. SO much has been improved since then. Yeah it could be better, but I think you're being overly harsh for dramatic effect.
-
It got really bad after they changed Rank Reset to only set you back 1 color instead of 2. Now there are more red ranks than ever and it's definitely affecting matchmaking. MMR can't come soon enough.
-
Funny, when I play Survivor no one has BT xD
Jokes aside, I don't even think that perk build is that good. They have no exhaustion which is huge for the Killer. And good SWFs don't need Spine Chill and will take something better.
If it really bothers you, play a Killer that can counter BT naturally. Freddy ignores BT when the Survivor is asleep if you don't know.
-
Slugging is fine as it encourages active gameplay. Camping and tunneling are bigger problems imo.
-
When I was newer I would combo it with Sprint Burst and Spine Chill and run from the Killer at first notice. This seems effective until you realize you just can't hide from the Killer all game because it puts all the pressure on your team. If you want to win, you need to take chases and waste the Killers time; therefore, Lightweight is not good enough.
-

That is quite an interesting combo. Flashlights are indeed your best bet, maybe with an Exhaustion perk like Sprint Burst ready to go just in case. Alternatively, since she can't see who actually unhooked, use Kindred and go in pairs.
I suppose a SWF could do two-man saves. No way a solo like me could get that much coordination out of their team though. I guess I have to pray I have a flashlight next time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
I'm just happy Undying has changed up the Corrupt + Pop meta. Though maybe they could reduce the aura reveal to 3 or 4 seconds so it doesn't fill the same role as Thrill of the Hunt.
-
Oh wow. I've been playing for thousands of hours and always thought it was capped. Thanks!
-
Excellent post. I've definitely been wanting to play less after so many Tomes, especially this last one.
-
This last Rift has really worn me out. It will probably be the first one I don't finish. It's like you said, the rewards aren't super enticing and the challenges are mediocre AND it takes forever to tier up.
-
Nice write-up! But... Do people actually care about emblems? Rank means nothing to me personally. All of this doesn't apply if your goal is to escape or 4k.
-
Medkit squads definitely got a buff since Killers can't switch to Plague anymore. Just slap on a Mori if you're worried.
-
Mori nerf. Every game in the 3 weeks before the patch would have a Mori. It would be like when they nerfed insta-heals, except 10x worse.
-
+1 they should remove some of the audio queues, or at least make them not global. It's one of the reasons I don't play Demo.
-
Be glad it's getting changed at all.
-
I hate them. All they do is make keys more exploitable (and clog my bloodwebs).
-
Good survivors won't be using Spine Chill. They'll be using DS, BT, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, Exhaustion perks, etc.
Frankly you should be happy that they took Spine Chill instead of one of those.

...And you can't change my mind.
Think about it. It's been a while since we actually got this many perks changed under one update.
There might be the usual minority that will disagree with a few things, such as the Thanatophobia change, however even if the healing penalty will no longer exist for it, people will still find it annoying to go against, especially combined with Dying Light. I mean, I sure would find it annoying to go against, but I can't judge for sure until I actually see the update for myself.
And of course, the Pyramid Head nerf. Thank goodness, I was starting to get too good playing as Pyramid Head.
But the best change of all? Well of course, it has to be the Perk Rarity Simplification! I'm a simple man with a simple mind, and I absolutely adore simplicity in anything. This one just takes the cake. Well done, lads.
I'm eager to try the PTB already!
I'm with you man, I'm so pumped for this update. My biggest complaint is the lack of perk variety, and so many are receiving changes this time, some of which have been wanted for years like WGLF.
Everyone is overreacting right now because we don't even have the numbers for many of the changes. But I was pretty happy with everything I read in the update!
-
I never buy cosmetics, and even I feel somewhat annoyed by their choices lately. Mixing and matching seems like a huge part of the fun. Legendary skins cost more than 2 full DLCs. It doesn't seem to stop people from buying 'em though, even when they're clearly getting shafted. I'm just 1 guy, so me not buying into their practices doesn't stop the horde of people who do.
-
This nerf was a slap on the wrist. Pop is still an S tier meta perk. Idk what you're complaining about.
-
We'll have to see the numbers, but it seems like a buff to me. I'd rather more gen slowdown than healing slowdown. Especially since Thana is usually used on Killers that naturally slow/deny healing already (Legion, Plague).
-
The change seems healthy and fair to me. Question is, will Deathslinger receive similar treatment? He has the same issue as PH where he's able to zone without using his power.
-
Yeah, I've been playing less since DC penalties are gone again. If you're a solo player, you've got like a 50% chance of someone DCing right now.
-
Well it's either this or Corrupt + Pop meta. Take your pick.
By the way, Map + Detective's Hunch hard counters that build.
-
I agree that BL feels too weak to use over other exhaustion perks. But that's more of an issue with map design than the perk itself. They should add more drops, specifically on maps like Shelter Woods. BL is actually pretty decent if you get a good map, like The Game or Haddonfield.
-
Hag, the proxy camping machine.
-
Agreed, they should all be equal level for the sake of balance. Realism is irrelevant.
-
1 in 3 games? Surely you're exaggerating. I've encountered a cheater two times out of my thousands of matches on PC.
-
I don't see why I would use this over a BP offering, Black/White Ward, or even a map offering of my own.

I think the reason they left out John is because he's a septaugenarian cancer patient. A guy in a hospital bed would not make for a very imposing killer.
Making a Hoffman skin for Pig would require new animations and new sounds, which would be a lot nore qork than just a new outfit.
Tapp is Tapp. He's too old for this s***. Leave Tapp alone.
As for Saw lore, the Game map is RIDDLED with easter eggs from the series. Go on and soak them all in.
He wasn't a cancer patient until the second movie. Remember he jumped Tapp in the first movie. They easily could've put him in the game.
-
My guess is they chose Tapp because Danny Glover is probably the most notable actor in the series aside from Tobin Bell. Even if he is only in the first movie.
They chose Amanda because she's related to the Reverse Bear Trap that Saw is iconic for. If you asked someone to name a trap from Saw, they'd probably say RBT. Also, other traps are more complicated/immobile and wouldn't mesh well with DBD mechanics.
Never liked Hoffman much. I thought he was a very one-dimensional character. Plus the later movies are the worst (except 6) so I don't mind Hoffman being left out.
I would've loved to see Gordon in the game, but the actor has a lawsuit history with Saw so Im guessing it was a legal issue.
Can't think of why they left out John though. He should've been an alternate skin for Pig for sure.
-
If they pair it with Tombstone, then it makes sense since it makes up for the move-speed penalty. There are better perks to use for sure.

Are you having trouble hooking survivors also? Is that stupid tunnel vision when bloodlust procs an actual new feature?
Yes, and it's not just a Freddy issue either. Sometimes I straight up can't hook Survivors regardless of Killer. I've lost 2 games because of it...
@crixus006 Thanks for posting screens. Looks awful.
-
Been having this problem for at least a year at this point. Haven't seen the devs address it at all. Dedicated Servers didn't help either.
