Beyond the grind aspect of "removing" perk tiers, wouldn't getting rid of the small bonuses open up way more possibilities for perk designs? I imagine that there are many perk ideas that have been scrapped because they couldn't fit a modifier. Right now every perk has to have a modifier of some kind to accomodate 3 tiers. With certain perks that can feel rather arbitrary.

im really tempted to can it halfway through and just stop trying to do anything useful for this community because honestly im not in a good state of mind right now and ######### happening here is making it substantially worse.
Oh. Oh no.

Are you familiar with the concept of a middle ground? Filter the most upvoted questions through their ability to actually answer them. It's that simple.
History shows that the community does not accept this either.

The whole comparison he made with sports falls apart the moment a facecamping leatherface is considered. He has to do literally nothing but win 1 chase to confirm a kill. Imagine a football player kicking the ball once and being guaranteed a goal, and then being told he's good, while the opposing team gets told they lost the entire game when they lost control of the ball for a second.

It was answered. A 'it's ready when it's ready', but it was answered.

How's that "making fun of us"? It's self-deprecating. If you had to say "coming soon" at every stream you did, you would get sick of all the comments too.

They have yet to do this with Realm Beyond updates. The focus of it is largely visual.
Léry's falls outside of this, as it wasn't part of the series.

Overall it’s improved, but there’s also some glaring things that players have optimised so thoroughly that they’re never going to be fun/balanced to face. DH being the primary example of that. Once players caught on how to make the most of it, it becomes incredibly frustrating to see it appear every single game.

And you do realize it feels crappy as survivor to die on first hook without being able attempt to escape, especially if they had Deliverance to guarantee the unhook? Like I said originally, only thing that killer cares about is the guaranteed kill which is why killers will always argue against last survivor being able to attempt escape.
I can understand it feels crap for the survivor, but they're already on that hook when this is relevant. They've already lost a chase to end up there. And if you're on your first stage as the last survivor, something went wrong.
What's requested is a chance to change the outcome of the match right then and there. A chance that is not only very slim, but even if succesful, has a substantially higher chance that the killer will slug, wait out various timers, whathaveyou just to achieve the same end result. And even if that doesn't work, it's a massive middle finger to the killer. It's shite for one party either way here.
We all know how many complaints are made about second chance perks, and I really don't think we should this on top of that.
-
Hasn't stopped them before.
I personally think Huntress will remain largely unchanged.

There was one time against a Mikey that my team was trading hooks while I worked in gens. I did all 5, one was worked on by teammate for final few seconds and I healed them before they ran back over to the others with the killer. 2 teammates had been sacrificed as I finished the last gen and as I was opening the door the last teammate was downed (this was also before EGC). I stayed in doorway as I thought of how to go save the last teammate, could hear Mikey breathing nearby before he turned around back to the downed teammate across the map. I didn't realize he had bloodwarden until it closed up behind me as that teammate was hooked. It was only their 2nd hook, I started making my way to save them but Mikey showed up. He downed me but instead of taking me to hook away from the exit he actually hooked me closer with a window behind me that faced the exit. I think his plan was to taunt me but I got lucky with 4% since my teammate was still in the game struggling. Since Mikey didn't expect it he whiffed a hit when I hopped through the window behind me and by this point Bloodwarden had worn off.
I always think of that escape when it comes to discussions about the last hooked survivor not being able to attempt escape. If they unhook themselves they could very well make a play to escape - that is why killers are very much against this because there is that chance, even if it is small, that they will not be guaranteed a kill with that last survivor. There is more of a chance of getting more BP thanks to extra chase, down, and hook but it's not about the BP - they want the guaranteed kill of that last survivor.
Yes, well, in the proposed scenario the killer already did everything they had to do to get that kill, but then random chance decides they don’t get it after all. Call it killer-sided all you want, but you do realise that feels shite for the killer, right?

I didnt miss your post, and my reply still applies to what you said, but i'll try to respond specifically to what you said so you can understand better.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2750138#Comment_2750138
Let's say the killer doesn't leave the hook. i succeed that 4%, i get instantly downed, then one of the following happens:
he picks me up: i ds then proceed to
1)run to the nearest open exit gate.
2)run hoping to come across hatch.
3)run, hide, and lose him. this gets you into the typical 1v1 endgame situation.
4) die.
he doesnt pick me up: (maybe he expects a dead strike, maybe there's no hook nearby because of breakdown.)
1)i crawl to the nearest open exit gate.
2)i soul guard, tank the hit, then run and hide / run and find hatch / run to nearby exit gate, whatever.
3) die.
The dichotomy between picking or not picking up the survivor is already in itself a mind game and a gameplay mechanic, since the killer has no way of knowing what perks you have. does he risk the deadstrike? does he risk you crawling near the exit gate then getting up with soul guard?
sure, the chances are slim. in most cases you will just get re-hooked and die, losing a precious 15 more seconds of your life that would still be gained if they applied quality of life changes to the animation issues that i brought up in the original post, where you waste time looking at all these struggle animations.
by this logic, if there's 4 gens to do and just two survivors on death hook left, the game should randomly execute one of them so the match can proceed, since it's unrealistic that they're both getting out. where do we draw the line between what's not possible and what is? why does the game decide for us when to give up or not?
First set of scenarios won't happen. Killers will learn not to pick you up on the off-chance of you having DS, meaning that unless you were right at the gate already, you won't get there anyway. Exactly that will also become a scenario killers will learn to avoid if at all possible. They'll just hook you further away. They'll try to eliminate the risk entirely, or make it as small as feasibly possible. Hell, you might even be left on the ground and the killer will just look for the hatch and close it then and there. I've done it.
Also, DS doesn't get you far enough for the killer to completely lose you. You are their one and only goal. If they do lose you, that's just bad play.
You have to understand what this looks/feels like when playing killer. The killer did everything right. They got you on that hook, and for all intents and purposes, the match has ended. Maybe you are their only kill, maybe their last one to a 4k. With what you're proposing there's always the chance that they can't even be satisfied with that. Because of that slight chance that the survivor just gets out anyway. And why? Because they got lucky. Dumb luck, combined with a myriad of second chance perks. Surely you understand that they will feel robbed, yeah?
Is it fair? Not exactly. At some point fairness is a fool's errand, though.

Im honestly just saddened by these replies because they perfectly reflect the general attitude of this community, and also because 90% are arguing with me about points that i already adressed in the OP, reason why it is a big wall of text. It makes me wonder why you're engaging in the discussion at all if you can't be bothered to read the whole thing.
In general, killers think they're entitled to the kill.
Survivors on the other hand really don't care about surviving, they just want to have their nice little moments where they stun and loop the killers for hours or "outplay" him in whatever way, and if that doesnt happen they're ready to give up and go on to the next game. their only concept of "fun" is at the killer's expense, the more they frustrate him the more fun it is for them.
You guys seem to think that the only way to play this game is by looping around a tile indefinitely, and ignore the fact that you CAN lose the killer, and you CAN run him around for quite a distance if you actually RUN instead of mindlessly going around a loop (which i dont know how you think is engaging or fun gameplay).
Both of these things are what i do despite having several hundred hours of gameplay under my belt, and (for what is worth after the new rank system) being effortlessly iridescent 1.
if everyone played like that, the killer would lose just as much time finding survivors and then losing them repeatedly than being looped until you get downed. it's just as efficient and it's how the game was originally intended to be played until the loop exploit was discovered and made into an integral part of the game.
The only moment i loop is if we're just two survivors and i try to keep him off the last gen while my partner is doing it, or whatever.
But back to my point, which is related. Most of you are under the misconception that if you happen to unhook yourself, you're done for. but guess what, if you have the right perks, you can run the killer around the map while looking for the hatch, or lose him and try to open an exit gate. it's really that simple. but since this gameplay aspect doesn't even cross your mind, stuck in the conviction that the only thing you can do is run around the same spot while others do objectives, you don't consider the notion that im presenting in my OP.
Again, i cannot stress this enough, your points about the hook state being used to BM have already been adressed in the original post with several easy solutions that i proposed.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2750139#Comment_2750139
Personally i only run breakdown, and with 3 other hooks down by the death of other survivor it is a guaranteed wiggle in most cases. i just proposed other EXAMPLES of perks that would make it so that it's not necessarily game over if you unhook yourself.
"But back to my point, which is related. You seem to be forgetting that killers currently leave the hook because they know the survivor is dead, no matter what. If there's even the slightest of chances that the survivor could escape, you'll see killers facecamp you 'till death. Is that what you want? Doubt it.
You appear to have missed my post about potential perks here too.
-
But then what do the perks themselves do?
-
If you could kobe as the last survivor, the killer will never leave the hook. The moment you try and succeed you’re back on the floor.
DS? Wait 60 extra seconds.
Unbreakable? 1 more smack and you’re down again.
Soul Guard? Make that 2 more smacks.
-
But… You’re getting 6k iridescent shards if you’ve played Bubba at least once, ever.
-
I’m by no means a good survivor, but I refuse to believe I am as bad as <20h bad.

This seems like a recurrent theme where the focus has shifted to the new players (for $ reasons)
On a related note, this game seemingly has been in a steady decline over the last 6 months since SBMM went into effect. Wonder how much further these numbers will have to go down before they admit SBMM was a mistake.
Dunno what they could offer you that wouldn’t upset a substantial part of the playerbase. Shards, I guess?
-
This, + a ~5% instant regression.

I honestly don't want to live in a world where smack talk is bannable. At some point, it is a matter of growing a thicker skin. Nor BHVR, nor any company in the world should be able to dictate that you can't say some variation of "kindly, piss off". You should be able to handle such a comment too. Sticks and stones, and all that. Actual slurs are way further up that spectrum, becoming far more than just smack talk.
Physical issues such as epilepsy are another matter entirely. This was in reference to clicking a flashlight to attract attention or to poke a little fun. I see no possible way they don't care about their players suffering real and dangerous effects caused by another player with that express purpose.

I thought they widened the stairs, not that going on the stairs would be such a workout that the hitboxes of the killers shrunk.
Thanks for the fun fact, it actually was fun.
I think they only widened the stairs on specific maps where that collision shrinkage didn't work, or something like that.

I always thought Dwight was representing him.
Eh. We got Bubba and Billy, and now Spirit and Sadako. So long as he has an original power, I don’t see the problem.
Not_Queen as the associated survivor? Peanits? Mandy? We got many options here.

Cleansing my own totem as pig. Bonus points if it’s haunted grounds.
Chasing someone as GF whilst perpertually butt-dancing.
Having staring contests with survivors who are on an elevated area out of my immediate reach. They always lose.
The whole ‘turn around slowly towards someone who thinks you didn’t see them’ is also great. Hardly ever works these days, though.
I’d love to have someone make a proper magpie stash for me at some point. It’s only been 2-3 items at most. Would be particularly funny as Nemesis and they yoinked all the vaccines.

”Metaverse” is a stupid name as well. YA novels do that better. Couldn’t have been anything other than inoffensive, I guess. ”Meta”… ugh. It’s dumb. Made to sound sci-fi with a cool buzzword.

32 Health states per game to 4k while using your power, compared to other killers 24 health states per game to 4k while using their power.
DBD is a time crunch game, and you think having 8 extra health states worth of chase time...." Isn't that weak:"?
"BUT HE'S NOT THAT WEAK"
Ok dude.....
Ok but where did I say he's strong? I agree PH's stronger than Nemesis, but he's not "pay to lose". If that's coping then I dunno what to tell you.
Besides, those 8 extra healthstates can be inflicted at virtually random by the zombies, if they work. If they fix their pathfinding, they'd be a substantially bigger threat. Their passive pressure is something PH just doesn't have in any way.
-
Well, Pyramid Head was always going to be the killer, so there's your SH 2 rep.. The map could've been Silent Hill itself, but ig that would be too similar to Badham/Haddonfield. I have to admit I don't know many locations within Silent Hill beyond the school and just its streets, though.
As for the survivor, Heather/Cheryl being the survivor associated with PH doesn't make a whole lot of sense lore-wise, but for the sake of representing the original trilogy, she's by far the best option.
-
A third healthstate that can only be healed 4 times, at specific locations.
Did he need nerfs? No, he really didn't. But he's not that weak.

As for Dead Hard...I honestly think DH should be 2 separate perks:
1 perk dives you distance, but you can be hit if you time it wrong.
1 perk gives you a moment of no hitbox, but you don't dash anywhere.
What do you “plan” about NOeD? You don’t control anything about it. It could not even activate at all. It activates, or it doesn’t.
