Is cross progression a thing? I thought they hadn't completed work on that just yet.
Across Steam, Epic and Stadia, yes. Nothing more, though. When console cross-progression is coming is a mystery to all.
-
If you’ve linked your accounts, it’s a yes. I have access to everything both on steam and epic, and I play and buy on steam exclusively.
Make sure you have launched the epic version at least once before trying to link the accounts, if you haven’t already done either.

Slugging is not guaranteed, especially at the ranks I'm playing at. Even if the entire game was a slugfest, there's always the off-chance that there's a door nearby, you have unbreakable, and even soul guard if you're not like the other girls.
It's not guaranteed now. It would be if there's even the slightest chance of this sort of thing happening.

Survivor - Midwich
Killer - Badham Preschool III and higher

Technically speaking, camping is fine whenever.
Regarding the unspoken etiquette, I’d say 0-2 gens left is when it becomes acceptable, albeit still not appreciated.
-
Prove Thyself is way better than most give it credit for.
You shouldn’t be able to just deny another player from playing the match at all. Ie., facecamping Bubbas.
The “holding W meta” is not a problem.

Maybe it was a one off with just this contract; without seeing it, we'll never know.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2715877#Comment_2715877
We haven't seen the contract so we can't say for certain, but it's likely that it was included that the Stranger Things chapter would come with perk names pre-agreed with Netflix, while the gameplay side of them is left to BHVR Interactive- there was a stream on how licenses work one time, you can find Fibi's summary of it here:
So, yeah- the speculation is that it was stipulated in the contract that the names of the perks would be "Better Together", "Cameraderie", "Mindbreaker", etc. and so when the licence was lost these perks would have to be "frozen", with no further changes allowed to these perks. However, the perks "Situational Awareness", "Kinship", and "Fearmonger" have no such legal ties bound to them, and so changes can be made to them. Even if it wasn't in the contract, it avoids further legal issues in the future and prevents Netflix from suing BHVR for changing what is meant to be frozen- even if BHVR won the lawsuit, negative publicity would drive other licence holders away as well as being very costly in time and money.
Changing the perk names was the best case scenario- even if they didn't have to it ensures that any possible further legal complications are avoided.
Didn’t Mandy state that the decision was made to not confuse players that don’t have the chapter? It’s us vets that will have to get used to this now, but for them there would be names that are mentioned by players that can’t be found anywhere in-game.

What?
I was serious about my post. Pausing the timer for 10 seconds has the exact same result as adding 10 seconds to the timer. That’s literally all I said.

Huh.
Well played. Well played indeed.

Yeah, I’ve had rubberbanding issues as well. Been having them since the chapter dropped, though.

For context.
Would personally have preferred a play on the term. Murdering Crows or something like that.

What else would you expect? This game requires 5 people, if 4 people are not having fun facing a certain situation that situation needs to be changed. Survivors' players are 80% of the players in a trial, if 80% of your player base is not having fun when playing the videogame, there is an intrinsic problem with the mechanic.
The artist, in most loops, offers no skillful counterplay. In most cases you are forced to leave the loop, get hit and get as much distance as possible. This is boring, and I frankly don't understand why this is even a thing. Most of the recent killers have destroyed killer-survivors interaction, the Artist is probably the worst offender of the lot. She needs to changed whether you like it or not she is not healthy for the game
By that reasoning, killers are not allowed to have fun, ever. That is truly survivor-sided.
Also, I have to wonder how the ‘distance game’ is any different from the ‘mindgame’ when it comes to interaction. Looping the same tiles, as said by others, gets mindnumbingly tedious if the survivor knows what they’re doing. The same set of paths, the same “i know you know”.
If anything, the distance game requires even more interaction from the survivor, as they need to estimate how they’re going to get out of the loop before even entering it. You still dictate where the chase goes, but you need to be unpredictable, not unlike say nurse. How that makes her “unhealthy” is beyond me.
Artist is reduced to an M1 killer when out in the open against a survivor paying attention, which is precisely what you want to achieve. She is strong in loops, but standard outside of them.
strong =/= OP.
Or ‘unhealthy’, which is apparently the new buzzword.

Having just woken up, I was actually convinced I was still dreaming when I not only saw “Villagers”, but it turned out to be exactly what I thought it was.
Also a good time to bring these out.
I had fun making these.

Sprint Burst doesn't. I'm also a little confused why people seem to overlook that perk in the 'undeserved distance' department. Isn't that way more frustrating to fight than DH?
I'd argue that SB gets away with it because it has to be triggered at the start of the chase, meaning the killer can judge whether the chase is worth it given the disadvantage. The killer can also cut the survivor off if they've been caught in an unfortunate position. It's also an immediate guarantee no speed boost is coming mid-chase, barring Adrenaline.
DH can be triggered at will with a very meager requirement; can provide the same effective distance if used to gain distance into a window/pallet; is a damn-near guaranteed dodge; doesn't require exhaustion management; and pairs very nicely with Resilience, Iron Will, etc.

Honestly? Hope you face an inexperienced player, preferably one playing a killer that's harder to use effectively.
-
Match length in relation to the use of Prove Thyself.
-
I've certainly been seeing her first-person perspective a lot.
As for a third-person's... I've had an astounding total of 2 trials against her. Total.
-
With how many free weekends DbD has had throughout its life, it's not all that surprising. Many, MANY one-time players just drop the game as soon as they realise it isn't for them. Yet they are still counted for the purposes of achievements.
It's also why every new achievement introduced is bound to be "rare" according to Steam.

Someone has to take it. At some point, the one carrying an item will be in the best position to pick it up, so they have to drop their own item.

I’m not sure if there even are “brackets” as such. It feels like there’s barely any distinction whatsoever.

Totems.

Crow hitbox being slightly larger than you'd expect. Otherwise nothing particularly noteworthy here.

January. I'm not sure when the devs are back in the office after the holidays, so I'm not sure when specifically, but I think it's gonna be January.
-
Nothing new.
-
Not sure how you'd go about enforcing this without just straight-up revealing the 4th survivor old OoO style.
Also, is this that common? I sometimes do this as well, but that's simply because of who I encounter at gens.
-
How slow the developers are, combined with some...questionable priorities.
Also, band-aids applied to anything and everything.

I can't say I'm actively interested in the topic but toxicity and the community is one I see on the forums a lot. Whether or not teabagging, flashlight clicking, hitting people on hook, letting them bleed out, etc are considered toxic and maybe even cyberbullying if we go by the current thread.
The devs/mods have already been clearcut in that they allow all of those as well as minor smack talk in chat but some people advocate that should change, whether that be by new rules, bans, or just something small to try and get people to be nicer. While on the other side some think the above attitudes are just part of the charm of DBD/gaming and there is no reason to change it, most online PvP games have it so it's no big deal and you just get used to it. Some think they should just stop caring and grow thicker skin.
Others yet, like myself don't normally care either way and we just play the game or are more concerned with other issues the game has.
I don't know how'd you go about with a poll since there are many varying opinions and examples that could be used. It is again though, something I see talked about a lot.
Thank you for the idea, it’s definitely an interesting one. To me, at least.
As for the “poll”, I’m calling it that because I’m not sure what else to call it. I think I’m going to do open-ended questions, to allow any and all to express their opinion as much as they’d like. I’d also like to add a “gut-feeling” ‘clause’, meaning I want to ask everyone to say what their immediate thoughts are, as well as their more “rational” thoughts. Those tend to be more legitimate, in my experience.
-
Cheekily wondering whether the moderators would also be willing to voice their opinions, even if it is just a yes/no. I’m guessing that’s going to be a no-go.
As for topics, I already have a fair few that I’d like to do, but I may as well ask if there’s interest for them. A poll for poll topics, if you will.
I currently have:
NoED
The Grind™ (more specifically, preferred fixes)
Most ‘balanced’ killer
Mories
In-game mentality
I’d like to emphasise that this is intended to guage opinions of specific forumites. My goal here is to get my fellow forum users a bit better, and to learn their opinions so that I/we can know them pre-emptively for when the topic arises in a different context. Debate is optional, convincing each other almost discouraged.

This makes it sound like it's not easy to pinpoint the inspiration for a lot of the original DbD killers. Trapper's design is taken from Jason Voorhees. Doctor is based on Yang Yongxin (and his cosmetics are inspired by A Clockwork Orange and Hellraiser's Cenobites). Wraith is basically Predator. The Artist is Candyman. Trickster is a Korean-flavored Joker. Blight is Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde.
If the devs did a doll killer, who would it definitely take inspiration from? Chucky? Annabelle? Benny? There's no shortage of killer toys.
For the longest time, Hillbilly was better than Leatherface. It was years before the two got updated, and I don't think what happened with Hillbilly was intentional, the devs often mess up the fun factor when tweaking killers. Hillbilly wasn't shafted because of Leatherface but because the devs felt the need to touch his base kit while messing with his add-ons, just like with Nurse.
Spirit, to give her credit, is not a discount Sadako or Kayako. She's an onryo, a specific type of Japanese ghost, which Sadako and Kayoko also are. Spirit's design and powers are unique. A lot of monsters and killers in horror are taken from folklore and urban legends, and so then any monsters/killers based on a particular legend will share similarities.
Out of curiosity, how is Artist inspired by Candyman? According to Pixel Bush, she’s inspired by a real Chilean man of whom I forget the name.

While that sounds super awful to deal with, what on Earth does that have to do with anything we are talking about? I am also trying to help you. If you think gens go fast, they will go even faster with Lightborn because people with flashlights won't try to save anymore. Learning to deal with flashlights with skill is a better choice in my opinion. Either way it just sounds like you are unhappy with the game in general so I'm not sure what the point is.
How can they go even faster? Surely if those flashlight gamers return to the gens, it goes to “normal fast”, opposed to even faster than normal, if that makes any sense.
In most scenarios, I’ll give you that it won’t do much for you. In OP’s situation, however, they seem to have gotten a free hook from a locker grab that couldn’t be blinded, with another potential hit on the other survivor not realising he had Lightborn in time. I don’t see how LB was a waste of a slot in this specific scenario. They won’t try again, sure, but it made the killer’s game vastly more bearable to actually play no?

I have scoliosis, and a rare disorder where my skull pressed against my spine causing me miserable back pain. So no it's not a sweet burn I'm just being honest. Also it doesn't matter gen gets done quickly regardless. The game is literally unbalanced
…Not sure how he could possible have known that, nor how he made fun of it.
As for OP’s situation, good for you. I really don’t see how Lightborn was a wasted slot there. At some point, just one LB interaction in your favour is enough to gain momentum. This locker play completely shut down their play, which would’ve been miserable for you otherwise. They won’t be doing gens more than they would without a flashlight, and chances are they designed their builds around the thing they were trying to do as well. All in all, good stuff, I’d say.

What do you mean with this? Are the offerings not turning around in the offering screen? ‘Cause that could be because of certain offerings being “secret”.
Or are you unable to see them in your inventory?

OK so there's a survivor directly below you. How do you find the drop down that leads to the survivor below and how are you gonna read the opposing sides movements within its labyrinth like hallways.
I genuinely despise this map and I hope whoever actually thought this was a good idea gets a wake up call on how to design actually playable maps. Maybe capcom pulls a stranger things and pulls the license just so we don't have to play that miserable map.
I never said it was an okay map. I just said the layout is not all that difficult to learn. It’s the single most static map in the game as well.
As for the drops, there’s 2 stairwells in both wings, a third one at the north of the eastern wing, as well as a drop from the western 2nd floor bathroom. And another also in the western wing in the southern most ‘room’ adjacent to the library.
PS: Let’s not hope for more license dips, hm?
PPS: You should blame Capcom for this one, not BHVR.

Who's Victor?
Twins’ entire power.
As for Twins actual play… They need a Doctor-style overhaul, imo.
Victor needs to be able to be recalled at any time.
He needs to visible at all times, even when latched on. (I believe him being visible right away was a bug.)
Switching between them needs to be way quicker, if not just instant.
Significant shortening of the cooldown after downing a survivor with Victor, or just straight-up crushing immunity.
-
As survivor, the fact that I just cannot seem to get into a decent match anymore. There’s always an utter newbie, a god nurse, facecamping bubba, or a blatant thrower.
As killer, Dead Hard. Not even CoH. It’s just Dead Hard that gets under my skin.
-
Yes. A lot.
I’ve had actual newbies more than ‘normal’ players at this point. It’s been making solo que even worse than ever.
Combined with the long-ass queue time, I’ve actually stopped playing survivor altogether. Not even for archive challenges. And even then, I’m getting matched with new and veteran players alike.
-
It’s really not that difficult, to be perfectly honest. Start with the layout of the hallways, and go from there. It’s counterintuitive, I’ll give you that, but not that hard to memorise.

I'm pretty sure the Common BP offerings cost more than they give in bonus BP
Offerings max potential profit:
Max Payout - Offering Bloodweb cost = total actual profit
Brown Flowers/Wreaths (50% in one category):
4000 - 3000 = 1000 gain
Yellow Flowers/Wreaths (75% in one category):
6000 - 4000 = 2000 gain
Green Flowers/Wreaths (100% in one category):
8000 - 5000 = 3000 gain
(Yellow) Sealed Envelopes/Hollow Shells (25% in all categories):
8000 - 4000 = 4000 gain
(Yellow) Escape Cakes/Survivor Puddings (100% in all categories):
32.000 - 4000 = 28.000 gain
(Green) BPS (100% in all categories):
32.000 - 5000 = 27.000 gain (but for all players)
(Green) Bound Envelopes (survivor exclusive, 25% in all categories):
8000 - 5000 = 3000 gain (but for all survivors)
-
We haven't even had a midchapter yet, and it won't be coming until the new year.

By just using Brown offerings for BP and no BBQ i was able to get to the 1mil within two to three days
Focus solely on the grind and youll just end up unhappy
Brown offerings give 1k BP at most from a single trial. I doubt you got to 1 million because of them.
Clarification: they cost 3k BP, and give out 4k if the category has been maxed out. That means a whopping 1k of actual additional profit.
