To be honest, I've never really felt that "fear" of playing killer.
I guess the secret is understanding that you can't and won't win every single one of your games.

Me who just wants to see playstyle alterations that you can choose from that aren't add-on dependent. It's definitely an idea. That way people can't complain about losing their old killer. Hell, even @GeneralV will jump with joy at the potential of having old freddy back if this mutation idea comes to the game. Even if it's... unlikely. Man, I wish they would try it with a few killers like Legion and Slinger.
I certainly would.
-
Probably more effort than it took to reach Rank 1, I guess.

That... looks cool.

Yeah the whole lightening up of everything has really shat on the ambience the realms used to have.
Indeed.
What happened to our maps was tragic, to say the least.

I do not know what to call DBD anymore.
Party game or not, it never really mattered for me. I cared far more about other aspects of DBD than whether or not it was made for competitive.

@Jangles said:
The game is never going to be as scary as when you first started playing. Anything "scary" after 500 odd hours becomes "annoying"
A thousand hours more than 500, and some things never became annoying...
You are right about one thing though, the game will never feel exactly the same as it felt when you first started, but there is a very clear difference between having a scary atmosphere and having none at all.
-
This brings back excellent memories, precious reminders of better days.

I still get angry at BHVR thinking about what was taken from us, also let's take a moment to remember space Hag when you could set the traps with collision under second story window vaults and launch a survivor like 1000 feet in the air , I used to love messing with that in KYF , if you stayed on the husk it would teleport you in the sky and you would just fall for eternity until you lined back up with the map
Space Hag was perfect to mess with in KYF!
-
This is less of a "basement" issue and more of a "lighting / ambience" issue.
Since the graphical reworks started, DBD seems to have abandoned those aspects in favor of... well, whatever the hell those new maps are.
That is just my opinion, but that is how I feel.
-
I remember Ghostface's PTB. It was really pathetic how weak he was.
Twins on the other hand were just a miasma of bugs on their release.
I don't know much about the Knight, but is he really that bad?

Some thread necromancy, but today I played 4 games of Freddy. He is very characterful and I only wish that they would utilize the dream world in some fun and creative ways, just by brainstorming for 5min I guess we all could come up with some interesting ideas.
In the current state of the game, with so many wild and different killers and abilities, Freddy sadly feels very dated and his powers just ticking off the bare minimum of what a power would need to do.
Freddy is on the top of my list for killers to be reworked, for all that is worth.
This necro tho.

...Again?

Back to the Campfire... I think.
Always thought it worked like that.

Good luck <3

Should be reverted.

It didn't use to be.

Seriously, dude, why are you so hellbend on NOT fingding common ground and vigoriously slapping away a hand extended in friendship and the honest effort to bridge differences?
But I guess some peeps are indeed "100% my way or no way" with no wriggle room. Sad.
Because you are calling a friend of mine "entitled" simply because he asked for a much needed QoL improvement.

So, again the discussion is heating up way beyond what was originally intended and the discussion is in danger of derailing. Lets try to sort things out a bit.

I get where you are coming from, but we need a certain baseline, otherwise you can pull everything out of the hat, no matter how outlandish and magically explain it away as "The Entity willed it". While technically possible, most stuff in The Entities realm is clearly modelled to work after the real world, albeit with a somewhat lovecraftian and mystical slant.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3183023#Comment_3183023
I guess thats true and survivors sandbagging others for extended periods shouldn't be a thing. Maybe make the survivor exhausted after pushing, so that survivors would do it all the time just for the lulz, but only in desperate situations? It would suck to be exhausted for no reason at all, but thats a fleeting condition that we know how to deal with, and being stuck in a corner sucks even more.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3183101#Comment_3183101
This here, though, is a thing that I take some offense on, claiming "Yes, you can have the cake AND eat it" is hard to argue that thats not comeing off as at least rude and actually sounds pretty entitled.
Ah yes, I hate when I lose my invisibility bell in this real world, it makes me so angry that I run around shocking people with the electricity I create in my hands.
It is a damn game. You can create whatever you want, and a QoL mechanic to avoid being taken hostage is hardly outlandish, compared to what we already have.

@Akumakaji said:

No, thats someone saying "I want to be able to bodyblock the killer, but not be bodyblocked by my fellow survivors, because I want to have the cake AND eat it." Thats as classic entitlement as it gets.
What are you even saying?
This has NOTHING to do with entitlement or "us vs them", this is about preventing someone from being taken hostage.
This shouldn't be hard to understand.
-
If I was still playing DBD, like I did back in the day, I am sure I could have reached impressive numbers by now.

And why not? Is the concept of humans walking though other humans more viable in a fictional horror video games? Sandbagging for extended periods of time is bogus, but so is complete bodyblocking a dude build like a ton of bricks and probably weighting in as much. I always hated how bodyblocking often robs you as the killer of every possible opportunity to get at a survivor, but its part of the game and so I gotta deal with it. And so is bodybocking between survivors. But what that Cheryl did there was probably a bannable offense, so go ham at her.
"Is the concept of humans walking though other humans more viable in a fictional horror video games?"
Yes.
Yes, it is.
You are playing a game that is set on a fictional realm beyond the universe, which is run by a spider-like goddess who feeds on emotions and sacrifices, which can be done by a guy who becomes invisible after ringing a bell.
Survivors walking through each other as a feature to prevent sandbagging is perfectly fine.

they may have seem smarter but really thats just because there was more wiggle room for Survivors
Made their mistakes much less punishing
The point stands.
-
There isn't one.
-
Different servers mean different players and experiences, but the people I've played with back in the day were FAR less whiny and way smarter than the ones I've played with prior to leaving the Fog.
-
It is the sad reality of liking the ANOES Chapter.
No one has fought for Freddy like I did, and still do, but it is exactly the same thing as talking to a wall.
BHVR treated Freddy like utter trash: so many changes, yet not a single one of them was ever needed.
But well, there is nothing we can do except hope they will eventually listen...which, ya know, they won't.
-
I remember that one damn match. Ghostface had just released, and I was playing against him on Old Haddonfield.
Got chased for 5 gens, and left to die.
Amazing.

Pure bait.

That's not how this works. You replied to other people who "weren't talking to you". Either ignore me or provide an actual response please. I'm trying to you know, use this thread for it's intended purpose. A place to discuss this issue. It seems like you don't want me to reply to you because you didn't like what I said. You can express that without being passive aggressive.
I was just...confused.
Getting a random notification from a thread I had not seen since last month, and a comment by someone I wasn't even talking to can be a bit confusing.

I actually made this as a joke suggestion in reply to this thread. I don't know how you could see this not being broken. If they were identical, and all 4 survivors were running 4 boons, and the killer was running 4 hexes, for one there wouldn't be nearly enough totems to go around. It would turn the game into "everyone (including killer) start cleansing stuff, then we can play the match". Killer would be screwed. Shadowstep, Circle of Healing and Exponential spread out everywhere and you don't know which is which. You have to take several seconds to get rid of each. They are not supposed to be the same. They're different for a reason. Boons are LESS powerful because in part by the fact you can get rid of them nearly instantly. Being able to re apply them is a trade off that still leaves them weaker. I think it's great shattered hope exists, it's not even a teachable. Use your perk slot for that, that's completely fair and you will have lots of fun punishing and wasting the time of poor Mikaela's everywhere. But you have to spend a perk slot for it gamer, you can't have that crap for free. I personally don't see it as all that useful even if it was basekit. Boons keep them off gens for a bit. Then I snuff it and usually the game snowballs in such a way they don't get a chance to set up another. At least not another one that anyone gets value out of before I snuff that one too. A lot of people don't see the benefit in actually letting survivors do things lots of perks stop them from doing. For example Claustrophobia isn't good to run on killers like Deathslinger and Huntress because window vaults are free hits. If you're running gen slow down like a good killer main those gens are literally falling to pieces while those 3 megs go heal in the boon by shack. If you break that totem instead of just snuff it they will actually hop back on gens instead of getting it back up again you silly goose. Boons are free self inflicted slowdown. If you leave a boon up and find where it is now you know their little hangout spot and you can go crash their healing party.

This might be the only instance where the Fog still works as it should.
-
I did that Nurse achievement you mentioned thanks to a potato Quentin and a sheer amount of luck.
Definitely one of the hardest in the game.

Not as good as the legendary winter solstices, but this event was actually pretty fun.

Adrenaline.

Hehe, I like your style, mate.
And a fellow General too? My my, how interesting!

I've been saying that since 2019.
Welcome to the fight, mate. It is the same as talking to a wall.
-
I think he looks fine.
-
Unpopular opinions, you say?
My my, here we go:
1- EGC is a terrible mechanic and should be completely removed.
2- Killer has been fully playable and winnable for years.
3- Any act of toxicity that is done without reason should be punished.
4- Not a single version of Freddy was weak enough to be considered low tier.
5- Most of the stuff that was deemed "unbalanced" in the Old DBD was actually easy to counter.

I'm curious. How long have you been playing DBD? And do you main a certain role?
Started playing DBD in December of 2018, shortly after Legion's release. And I left the game when I couldn't stand it anymore.
Always played both sides.
Why do you ask?
-
Boons should be permanently broken by default.
-
DBD absolutely had to have retained its horror atmosphere.
Yes, things will stop being scary at some point, but there is a VERY clear difference between having a scary atmosphere and having nothing at all.
