Excellent.
Exclusives are dumb.
-
I liked the original OoO. It was fun.
-
Old DBD was a vastly superior game and bringing most of its content back would fix many problems the modern DBD has.
-
Hey hey, a Freddy thread! There cannot exist a Freddy thread without me, it is simply impossible.
Ya know, the best and most interesting builds for Freddy all died with his old power, back in 2019. But I can share my build, if you would like it:
A Nurse's Calling / Sloppy Butcher / Devour Hope / Brutal Strength
No specific add-ons required.
It is a pretty standard build, nothing really special about it, but it does the trick.
-
From my experience with it, and do keep in mind that it was a very limited experience, the changes made to address the grind only made it better for those who had actively prepared themselves for it once the update dropped.
Everyone else still has to grind endlessly.
-
What is that perk, and what does it do?
-
Then I would like to borrow those "powers of the community" for a little while.
I never get what I would like to see :(
-
Luigi's Mansion.
No, you did not read that wrong. One of my favorite games out there and one of the few times Nintendo was willing to explore dark themes.
Never forget this game literally tells you that a 7 year old girl died in her sleep.
Think of it as a celebration of DBD's release on Switch (even though I am a PC player).
Will it ever happen? No, definitely not. But hell, it would be fun!
-
Having fun.
-
So... calling cards? Just like COD?
Out of everything to add to the game, they chose calling cards?
-
Bad and ugly? When talking about Old DBD?
Oh no, my friend. There are no such things. Not to me.
All I see is a game that I loved.
-
Started playing DBD all the way back in 2018 and it took me years to understand this icon.
-
If there is one thing I still love about DBD is how the game used to be.
There isn't anything left in the game for me to enjoy, but memory is something that no patch can take away and let me tell ya, I loved this game in the past.
Old DBD was easily one of my favorite games and I don't think that will ever change.
-
It used to be meta, you know? It is impossible to count the amount of times SC was the only reason someone was able to escape.
That doesn't go away just because BHVR decided to ruin that perk.

That's to be expected, after all you're playing a live service game, which means nothing is set in stone and everything is subject to change.
That's just the nature of these types of games.
Nonetheless, it is an excellent piece of advice. Avoids problems, like the ones I had.
-
Freddy.
But not the Nightmare we have today. Oh no, definitely not.
My favorite killer is the legendary Old Freddy. He was the very first killer I played, all the way back in 2018 when I got the game. Old Freddy is the main reason why I loved this game.
And he is gone now.

Welcome! When I started I levelled up Feng first because of Technician - great beginner perk until you get used to skill checks. Windows of Opportunity (Kate perk) is also great for learning maps/tiles. Get in the habit of looking behind you when in chase, and I'd also advise familiarising yourself with killer powers and perks, particularly the popular meta ones. There's a site called Nightlight, which isn't 100% accurate (small sample sizing, unlikely to be used by non-english speakers, etc) but it's accurate enough when it comes to most used perks. So you can get a general idea of what perks you're more likely to see in your games and among certain killers.
@GeneralV also makes a very very good point - don't get used to any one perk in particular. I like to switch up my builds, though I do have my favourites of course (my favourite exhaustion perk is Overcome, but it's easy enough to play without it). Perk changes have become common place recently, so that's one reason, but you also develop better natural game sense when you don't get used to relying on certain perks.
I speak from experience, unfortunately.
-
Cool.
It is an useful perk.
-
Under any circumstances, don't get attached to anything. Not perks, not add-ons, and ESPECIALLY not killer powers.
Your favorite things could get taken from you at any given time. And it is unlikely you'll ever see them again.

Tackling those first two points together: No you don't. You do not ever have to facecamp or hard tunnel someone immediately off hook. Facecamping is a pretty bad tactic in almost all cases if you want to win, and hard tunnelling only works if you've picked the right target + even then isn't as effective as other strategies.
I imagine what you mean is that you sometimes have to proxy camp, or prioritise someone who was unhooked recently. I would disagree with the phrasing "have to", but there are circumstances where that's the optimal play. Since neither of those things are being touched right now, though, I don't see any reason to shift the discussion to them.
Moving on, you don't need to go for 8-12 hooks? I don't know where that idea came from, there's nothing wrong with getting snowball downs on survivors who haven't been hooked yet/only hooked once and hooking them all at once. That's still a win and that hasn't been taken away from you.
That does baffle me, now that I'm typing it out. Why do people act like there's a hard binary between immediately facecamping and/or tunnelling someone out as quickly as possible, and going for twelve evenly spread hooks on sequential survivors? The game doesn't work like that.
"Why do people act like there's a hard binary between immediately facecamping and/or tunnelling someone out as quickly as possible, and going for twelve evenly spread hooks on sequential survivors?"
Everyone understands both can be used in order to win a trial, but perhaps some people don't want to receive complaints when choosing the former rather than the latter.
But that is within a player's control. If you turn the chat off, there are no complaints anymore.
-
I don't know much about this Anti-Camp mechanic, but I'd say it is unlikely to cause that much impact. The killers who get truly affected by it will probably just resort to proxy.
And proxy is nothing new.
-
I've always wanted to see Freddy and Nurse with their old powers. That would've been a hell of a team.

They intend on nerfing her ability to stall Generators while buffing her chase potential.
To put it bluntly, I dont know if it is an improvement or not in terms of strength, but it is objectively better for the game's health since it removed her ability to stall a game for 60-minutes.
When we get the PTB, (if you can... some people are unable to sadly) I would recommend testing the changes yourself.
I've never played SM before. And I've only played against her once.
It would be... difficult for me to judge her changes.
-
So... is it an improvement or a downgrade?

Man it's been a while since I've seen you around on the forums how's it been going?
Hello! It is good to see ya, Majin!
I've doing great, thanks for asking. I still come here sometimes to talk about the game.

But it IS ironic. Just as this whole thread. Asking to kill switch a killer just because she is annoying. Devs can´t do that. Because then you´ll see kill switch requests for half the roster. Bubba did Bubba things? Kill switch! Nurse downed me in the first 30 seconds of the match? Kill switch her! And so on.
SM will get her rework. If thats going to be an improvement is to be determined.
Watch they mess this up.
As it always happen when the word "rework" is involved.

You just start playing back or something?
No, not exactly.
I just stop by occasionally. Play one or two trials then leave.

I've seen that map only twice, and it was awful. Good thing it is getting changed.
-
I think they are okay.

You still miss old freddy? Lol.
While I sometimes miss how old dbd was less sweaty and serious, I don't really feel bad about state of the game since I play other games a lot.
And it was always like that even when dbd was more enjoyable. I played on and off since 2018 and I think I don't even have 1.5k hours yet.
I do think dbd still interests me, I just don't feel it is a good game to spend time on and not fun. Which is weird.
It is either a habit or It's interesting to talk about it and interact with some people from this community for me.
I always will, I suppose. He was my favorite part of the game. That doesn't go way just because a long time has passed.
And I know how that is. Between Starfield, Pokemon and impatiently waiting for Mortal Kombat 1, I have other games to play. But when I'm here, talking about a game that I once considered my favorite, it is hard not to express how I feel about its current state.
I wouldn't say I'm still interested in DBD, more like I am interested in a memory. But hey, I like being here on the Forums. And I'm still here.
That has to count for something.

Not exaggeration either. I visit here sometimes and talk about dbd ocasionally with people but I don't even feel like watching it let alone playing atm. Sometimes I come back but I play less and less when I do.
It's a habit for my mind to think about dbd I guess even with zero desire to play.
Next time i play it will be just because and not because I want to.
Welcome to my world.
-
Now now, there can't be a Freddy thread without me!
...And I was just here to see defeat. Again.
-
I still use it when I play, and always will.
This perk will always be meta in my book.
-
I lost mine.
All I had was a single Glass Splinter, but then I made the grave mistake of prestiging Freddy.

It might not be so bad if he can’t hit survivors who are awake. If he can’t just instantly put them to sleep after they have woken up then it could be ok. He was kinda broken at launch when he did similar things which was why he was ultimately nerfed to what he is today.
Freddy was never broken.
He was only nerfed because of the free weekend around his release. People who didn't know a thing about the game were around, and Freddy was extremely popular.
If the devs knew not to listen to people with less than 3 hours of gameplay, all would've been avoided.
-
Claudette is perfect.
-
Ruin should have never been touched, to begin with. As the old, yet incredibly accurate saying goes: Ruin was used to slow the game down.
Thats it. That was the reason for its existence and it did its job perfectly. There is a reason why this perk remained unchanged for a long time, always popular with killers and not always complained about by survivors.
I still think Old Ruin's rework was one of the worst balance decisions in the game's history. And trust me, the competition is extremely strong.
How to fix Ruin? Easy.
Revert it.

I've only played against her a few times, and I hated every single one of them.
Absolutely abysmal to go against.

He’s not one of those evil bigwigs though. His entire lore is him going off the tracks to investigate things his superiors are attempting to overlook/cover up. In other words, baby boy Jonah is just an innocent mathematical genius and I love him.
Still, willingly joined one of the most vile and repulsive organizations in human history. Unless you pull a "tear it down from the inside card", it is still inexcusable.

If that means she becomes ugly, then no thank you! I want to feel pretty when I play her! 🥰💅
You wouldn't dislike it.
Every monster is pretty in their own way.
-
Claudette as a distorted version of Hag would be amazing.
-
Not, it ain't even close to what he needs.
-
I had no idea this cosmetic existed:
I loved it.
-
I have no idea what that killer actually does, but I trust you. If you aimed for a better experience, then I'm sure these changes would accomplish that.
-
I don't have enough knowledge to participate in this discussion, but if Sadako is in a good spot then I'm happy.
-
An optional "Hard Mode" for those who want it.
I'm pretty sure the devs themselves confirmed it, long ago.

Oh my goodness! A response from the General himself! Screw the topic! I’m just happy you’re still around! 💜💜💜💜💜
How’ve you been? Hope things are well for you?! I haven’t been playing due to my PC dying one me 😭. I think it’s a good thing, my addiction seems to be slowly breaking!
So as not to get in trouble for going off topic, there isn’t much the Devs can do. If they balance maps, the game would get stale. If they need Nurse and Blight without touching Swf, the sweaty, high MMR killers would quit and the low/average MMR killers would quit after the SBMM system throws them to the wolves (sweaty swf) since no more good killers are around.
It’s a damned if you do and damned if you don’t. As things are now, Solo is the best it’s ever been, especially with the base kit BT and the action icons in the HUD that lets you know what teammates are doing. The biggest problem with Solo isn’t Nurse or Blight or OP killers, it’s bad, lazy, and/or entitled survivors who DC/suicide because things don’t go their way. Devs can’t really do much for that.
Hope you are doing well and hope, for your sake, old Sir Fredrick makes a comeback into the game.
Ah, it is good to see you, my dear friend! I've been doing well, thank you asking! Despite your PC, I hope things have been going well for you 🖤
As for the topic at hand, I agree. It is interesting that things are a bit better for Solo queue, I'd have never expected that, but I can imagine some problems are still around. DC/suicides on hook may be just as unsolvable as the whole SWF/Nurse and Blight situation. At least it is not what you see on every single match, I suppose.
Much love to ya, friend. Thanks for not forgetting about me.
