There was a build which used that perk.
It only worked with Old Doctor, and essentially you would have a gigantic Terror Radius while in Treatment Mode. Overwhelming Presence was useful for getting rid of toolboxes and flashlights.
-
Blight, Trickster and Ghostface were always the ones I hated most.

His old design of being unable to hit awake survivors made him feel horrible endgame. Always hated how ppl claim Freddy is an endgame killer just because of the perks he was released with. Watching someone run up to unhook in your face knowing you can't hit either person yet... sucks. Adrenaline kicking in to not only heal a survivor, but also wake them up to make them untouchable sucks.
I mained the crap out of old Freddy, but he was basically the only killer that NOED felt needed to have a chance at stopping any unhooks during endgame from just...running out the gates.
Odd. I don't think I ever needed NOED on him. Like, ever.
Didn't play around the Endgame, either. My build would usually be something along the lines of: Old Ruin, Old BBQ, Thanatophobia and Brutal Strength. Add-ons changed from time to time, but I was really fond of increased range and less skill checks while asleep.
It was a good build, overall. Way better than NOED and Endgame perks.
What was your strategy with him? Because something isn't adding up here.

Do you mean before or after the initial nerf?
I didn't play back then, so I only know second hand information but 7 seconds survivor god mode and people that could bodyblock Freddy from hooks without the danger of getting hit doesn't like a well working killer to me.
I started playing in 2018, so that was already the "Old Freddy" everyone is familiar with.
He was great actually, but played very differently from everyone else. It would be easier to explain if I had footage of my own, but Freddy was all about control. Once you mastered his mechanics, there was quite a lot you could do.

The one change that allowed survivors to pallet save or flash light save without any timing. You could throw the pallet during the pickup animation and at the end of the animation the survivor breaks free.
1.9.2, yes.

Depending on how you look at; Freddy. He started out as awful, then became overpowered and now he is awful again. We've come full circle, only that we somehow switched the circle along the way.
Freddy wasn't awful at the very beginning, he was just very different from the other killers.
Trust me, I speak from pure experience.

Taking a glance back into memory lane, it makes me realize that the realm beyond wasn't executed very well in terms of keeping the atmosphere as scary, dark and gloomy as it used to be. These versions of the maps have a charm that I can't quite put. Perhaps the lighting in old DBD contributes to that as well? Always have been a fan of the older fog, too.
I used to be satisfied with the realm beyond, until I began to realize how much it shattered the iconic atmosphere that DBD once had.
I would be completely fine with the Realm Beyond if that damn thing was optional.
Like, we know for a fact the game supports people playing with different lighting on the same match, some modders literally did that.
So why not give us a choice? Like, let us choose between the classic maps and the new ones.
Everyone wins.

The first game, definitely.
It is perfect: creepy, mysterious, fun and I'll never forget the feeling of beating 20/20/20/20 for the first time.
Though FNAF 2 is a close second. And I also love the animatronic designs from SL.

I love how you can see the light piercing through the dark shadows of the trees and the asylum. It looks kind of idyllic really. Nea running off towards the shining moon as a beacon of hope and the Nurse touched by the most beautiful thing she has seen since her abduction by the entiy.
Somehow, I expect to see Adrenaline pop only seconds later and for the Nurse to reveal her noed.
Ah, a breath of fresh air amidst provocative arguments on this thread. And yes, that is a beautiful description of this amazing screenshot.
Perhaps this Nea is a good player. Dodge one, two, three, maybe even four blinks, only to get hit by the fifth one. But don't worry, a brave Claudette will save her.

And hey, at least I'm not here to ruin moments, eh? I mean, what is the point of interacting with something you clearly don't like?
What's the point of a public forum if you're not allowed to interact or express your opinion with things you don't like or agree with?
I'm sharing an opinion here, six others agree. You don't. And you leave a "Not really".
It doesn't matter how many likes your post have, it doesn't exclude it from the opinions of others.
Unnecessary and provocative, don't you think?
Maybe, but again, it's a public forum, i'm just as much allowed to disagree with your post as you are with mine.
"It doesn't matter how many likes your post have, it doesn't exclude it from the opinions of others."
Never said it did. I am merely describing the situation there. I'm happy some people agree with my take here, but it is a detail.
"What's the point of a public forum if you're not allowed to interact or express your opinion with things you don't like or agree with?"
"Maybe, but again, it's a public forum, i'm just as much allowed to disagree with your post as you are with mine."
You are allowed to disagree, yes. But not in the way you did it.
You don't deny your response was provocative, and it looked like it was written only to cause a reaction. That may not have been your intention, but that is what it looks like.
And that, mate, you should not do. It is like being rude to someone else for no reason.
You can do it. But should you?
No, definitely not.

I love that idea. This map could be triple the size of Mother's Dwelling and I wouldn't care just for the old DBD feeling alone. It's so sad that they removed these signature looks.
Now DBD's maps don't look quite as distinct anymore. I get that they put a lot of effort into making them look better but the overall atmosphere got lost somewhere along the way.
Thank you, I'm happy someone likes this little idea of mine <3
And I agree completely, friend. I know some people didn't mind the map reworks, but for me... they just don't work, ya know. I really miss the old maps and overall atmosphere of the game.

Yes, but the character is specifically what made the strategy problematic.
Now that the character is gone, there is no reason to mess with the strategy as it isn't problematic anymore.

@Xernoton said:
She has little counterplay in loop. You always lose when she uses her power. But she isn't incredibly strong in the 4v1, so playing fast and efficient can work.
She is still a poorly designed killer. Staying still in chase mostly results in a free hit. Getting detected 3 times injures you, keeps you broken and hinders you while you are still detected and gives her a speed boost. So your best bet is to pre drop a pallet and try to leave the loop, when she uses her power. That however will often still result in a stack of lock on and incredibly bad resource efficiency on your part, which means if you can't win the game fast enough, then you won't win at all.
I said before her second rework, that there was no need to remove her, when you could try and fix her instead. Now I realise I gave the devs too much credit on her. They don't even know what to do with this killer. All 3 versions were and are terrible.
You put faith in the developers? Terrible mistake.
As someone with a Billy profile picture, you should've know better.
-
It reminds me of this screenshot:
Now that looks beautiful.
-
A mix between the OG realms. Divide the map into 4 sections, each with their own lighting and structures, representing a different realm.
Lets say... upper right will be MacMillan:
Upper left can be Autohaven:
Lower right - Coldwind:
And finally, lower left can be Crotus Prenn:
I think it would be an interesting map.

Not all 3-gen is exploitative, but ol' chess merchant running out the clock and getting rewarded for it was exploiting the fact that devs didn't think a match could go 60 minutes without the problem being the survivors. Perma-locking a 3-gen from the start of the match and refusing to chase IS exploitative.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3599943#Comment_3599943
Well I can see your not open to a differing view on the subject
Are you?
and since you've stooped to strawmanning
It's not strawmanning. That's the discussion that's been had on these forums many times over and that yours touches on as well.
Your point of view definitely comes across as heavily sided to one side of the player base and I fear that that mono directional view will be the downfall of this game.
You've not levelled a practical argument against it once, though. You've only tried to reframe the discussion away from DBD and into some hypothetical space where you could theoretically be right.
But the merchant is dead. No reason to ruin a valid strategy for most killers because of one character.

Exactly my way too. I would add one single thing tho:
"When survivors are in the Dream Transition, they suffer from the Incapacitated-Status-Effect."
In the end, we would have Original-Freddy with the Ability of pulling survivors asleep like before. He would have his Terror-Radius in the Dreamworld, where the action is, so he would be able to use a lot of perks like Coulrophobia too.
Basically Original-Freddy with the addition of the Incapacitated-Status-Effect and the current Dream Projection. The Dream Projection-Cooldown should come in line with the Dredge-Cooldowns.
Thats it. Of course you could add fake-things into the Dreamworld randomly like Fake-Hex-Totems (a Totem becomes a Dream-Hex-Totem, but its actually a Dull-Totem) or Fake-Generators, who would explode in blood when survivors are working on it for more than 10 seconds. Something like that could be added to the Dreamworld.
Haha, the concept already has it:
"-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect."
I got ya covered, friend :)

All map reworks were awful, but this one is definitely the worst.
It is a "drop and run" version of pallet town, and it sucks.

Pop is back in the meta?

A reversion to one of its previous versions, hopefully.
-
@Firellius said:
"I'm concerned because it seems like the mindset they're adopting to address pain points in the gameplay loop is all stick and no carrot."
Carrots don't work. Killers will gravitate to the easiest, highest return strategy, and will continue to do so. Overpowered strategies (yes, chess merchant was plainly broken) need to be nerfed down, since you can't provide an alternative without breaking the game's balance even further.
The problem here is that 3 gen isn't an exploit or a broken mechanic that was left unchanged, it is a valid strategy.
"Carrots" and "sticks" don't really matter because the situation doesn't have to change.

The most healthy meta was all the way back when Nurse's Calling was among the most used killer perks.
That was peak.

Im honestly interested in your ideas. Make a post in feedback and suggestions?
My original idea was this one:
Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger
Its essentially a little mix between pre-rework and post-rework, with a few improvements, but it could be tweaked further.
-

Let’s just keep nerfing her until she’s immobile, blind, and can’t attack. Maybe then survivors will be happy 🙂
There would still be complaints.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but some people are taking this "Nurse hate" to the extreme.

Claudette and Freddy were, at some point, widely hated by most of the community.
But I am not toxic, so I'd say I surprised many players.

The weakest killer in the game, Freddy, is forgotten for years. Only exception: We get "Bug-Fixes", which are massive nerfs imo.
If BHVR has no clue what to do with Freddy, then send @GeneralV and myself a message and we chat about changes the Freddy-Players would love to see. I dont need S-Tier Freddy, a B-Tier Freddy in terms of strengh with a nice little skillcap and potential would be more than enough at this point.
Easy task for us.

Pretty much every loop is unsafe against him and with the ability to flick, he's not able to be juked easily.
So the counterplay is to hold W and M1.
"So the counterplay is to hold W and M1."
Again?
Last I checked, that was the one thing everyone was tired of.

I just want to clear something up: This roadmap is not a priority list, and just because something isn't on the roadmap for the next few months doesn't mean it's not on our radar. There are some things we'd love to do sooner, but would unfortunately require too much work to be done in time for a particular update (e.g. if our programmers are already fully booked up on other design changes or new features). In these cases, we might slot in some smaller tweaks that could be done in less time rather than nothing at all, but this does not mean we think they are a higher priority.
It doesn't matter. Once Freddy gets the priority, you will just ruin him again.
It has happened many times already.
