Because looping is fun and it is a huge aspect of DBD, whether people like it or not.
That is why many Survivors, myself included, dislike Killers who have anti-loop powers, as they completely remove a very important aspect of the game and force you to play in a very boring way (holding W and pre-dropping every single pallet).
Many of us here, once again including myself, are from a time when the absolute majority of the killer cast could be looped in the regular manner.
And I would've liked if it had stayed that way.
-
I don't know.
What I do know is that I will never forgive BHVR for removing Ranks.
-
It used to be way easier back in the day, but it got worse and worse every time the ranking system received a change.
In theory it should be slightly easier now, but there isn't really a way of knowing.
-
I use Self-Care effectively.

Only once: the reversion of Patch 1.9.2
Everything else was either sheer luck, or the devs interests happened to align the the community's.
-
Laughs in Quentin main.
-
That is a very bad Freddy build tho...
-
If I had to my own:
"Observations from an Old Nightmare main: what Freddy's better version taught me"
The main lesson would be that slowdown perks, as strong as the community thinks they are, cannot hold gens forever.
For example, back in the day you could reach the ultimate "Forever Freddy" if you wanted to. Dream World Slowdown + Dying Light + Thanatophobia + Swing Chains = 116% slowdown.
However, was this a good idea? Nope, definitely not. And I speak from experience.
In a way, I think Freddy taught me the same thing Nurse taught you: revisit your build when struggling and don't stick to a single type of perk only.
Experiment! Try different things!

A New Moon Bouquet?

- Unbreakable - Killers want to be able to slug you without you being able to counter it.
- Borrowed Time - Killers want to facecamp you without being able to counter it.
- Decisive Strike - Killers want to tunnel you without you being able to counter it.
I wish Killers realized that survivors aren't using a meta perks because they want to, they are using meta-perks to counter uncounterable tactics killers use. You literally can't do anything about slugging unless you bring a perk. You can't do anything about face-camping without a perk. You can't do anything about tunneling without a perk.
Survivors are using these perks because they have to. Otherwise they'll be sitting on a hook looking at Leatherface revving his chainsaw.
DS was not an anti-tunnel perk from the start, though. It only got changed in 2019.
Wouldn't that imply that tunneling was an unbeatable strategy from 2016 to early 2019?
-
We do a little crusade.
-
That doesn't prove anything.
Otz is an experienced player who has been in the Fog since Pig's release. His content proves that an experienced player could win against those specific Survivors, at that point in time, by using a specific build and playing in a specific manner.
The things is, not every single killer has the same level of experience, or wants to run the same builds, or will face the same survivors, and the list goes on...
Streamers like him play DBD for 8 hours a day or so because they get payed to, and that obviously makes you see the game through a different approach that doesn't reflect how the situation actually is for the majority of the community.
Is killer impossible? Nope, definitely not.
Is this the best it has ever been for killers? Also no.
MMR shenanigans and the overpowered Boons create situations where matches are really sweaty and frustrating, and killers just happen to get the worst of it.
-
Seeing nothing but the meta is something you should expect at this point, but I understand where you are coming from.

it would be less frustrating if the validation didn't eat the killers power.
It would be less frustrating if it didn't exist, tbh.
I mean, if you are lagging, you should expect to have some weird situations instead of being catered by a mechanic, and that goes for both survivors and killers.
-
Honestly, every time BHVR implements one of those "Validation" things, they always create nothing but frustration and unfair situations over and over again.
I remember that one time when the Pallet Validation was introduced... I hit a David with my Chainsaw, I heard his scream, I saw the blood and he just walked away as if nothing had happened. And he was the one who was lagging, not me.

Never give up! Make a petition or something. Get enough people to sign? Never know....does it always work? Nope....but I am sure a lot of Freddy fans would most likely agree with you. I am one of them. 😂
Thanks mate. Your support means a lot :)

I miss old Freddy also :/ wish he would come back. I remember being so excited about his release and playing him the first day he came out...now? Kinda boring.
Yeah, I totally agree.
Wish I could do more to help on his return.
I try my absolute best, but it is hard to keep talking when your words keep falling on deaf ears.

An Old Freddy trial of mine on Old Wretched Shop is unforgettable to me because of the post-game chat. Everyone was saying gg and complimenting each other for their good plays and interesting moments.
That was very refreshing to see. People had fun and enjoyed the game, as it always should be.
-
Well, for months on end in 2018-2019 I mained and exclusively played Old Freddy, who was extremely underrated by many members of the community.
I guess that counts.
-
The time has come.
-
Lack of pride is important, mate.
However, I would be way more proud that I outplayed a killer in a loop instead of "outplaying" them by holding W and pre-dropping every pallet.

Whoa, a GeneralV out in the wild in 2021 DBD? That's like finding a unicorn.
On topic, I still see and play Artist quite a bit. Her power is somewhat map-dependent, but it's by no means weak. If there's anything discouraging people from using her, it's that she takes practice, and her ranged power doesn't have the same reactivity as, say, Huntress or Nemesis - you need to lead your shots a few seconds in advance, or even ten seconds in advance, which obviously increases the window for survivors to react. It's a different experience and I can see why people might not enjoy her.
Then you just found one :)
It is indeed a rare sight, but I wouldn't let my friends down like that.

If you left the game since before MMR, then why do you stay on the forums?
I have my mission to bring Old Freddy back and I won't leave the Forums until it is done.
Or until I die trying.

Nice!

Freddy, old version in particular.
Long time ANOES fan who bought his DLC together with the base game back in 2018.
Most of my hours, that is for sure.
If this concerns MMR, I do not know. Left the game prior to its introduction.

Honestly I loved playing him before, he was a killer I always wanted since I first played DBD lol.
But yeah I hardly ever see him when playing survivor, I did see a few the day before the nerf using his iris before they became useless lol. They still didnt do that well, hes a rough killer for not much reward tbh so I guess that's why. Chains are difficult on controller too 😂
I am sure if I kept playing in the same way I played during the good ole days then I would get to see plenty of him eventually.
But I really don't want to do that.
-
Pig.
-
I..don't know.
Everything about Pinhead is a great mystery to me.
I left the game prior to his release, and on the two separate occasions where I came back for one or two trials with friends I didn't get to see him.
-
I played DBD today because some friends invited me to and I didn't want to let them down like that.
The Artist was the first killer that we faced.
Even if it is a bit rare, you can find her.
-
Every single reworked map and Dead Dawg Saloon.

I have no pride, mate.
And a chance of escaping is better than nothing.

Never knew of this. Thanks for pointing it out. I started when Plague was released and Legion was in its original form for context.
So Freddy’s terror radius use to be 16 meters (aura reading on survivors outside the terror radius was an old component of old Freddy) and very short slowdown while putting survivors to sleep. They also helped survivors wake up by being picked up and from adrenaline.
No worries, my friend!
Glad I could share this story from a better time.
-
Not exactly.
They are a bit different:
Freddy on-release was his short-lived very first version. In my honest opinion, the best and only perfect killer BHVR has ever designed. Strong, fun, viable and balanced. That is the killer I want to see in-game again.
Old Freddy is the result of Patch 1.8.1, also known as the most undeserved nerf ever. That is the Freddy most people remember, and the one I mained for months.

It’s funny. I look at this and think that Freddy deserved his last nerf. Not so much with Deathslinger.
Forever Freddy had to go. Deathslinger was not abusive in the same way at all.
We are not talking about the same Freddy, then.
I am talking about his on-release version (ya know, the one that lasted for 1 week).
-
Despite its bad apples (and there are plenty of them), the DBD Community is not nearly as bad as most people say.

Yikes.....
Bad day? Hater? You constipated? Whats your deal?
Something like that, most likely.
No one behaves like...THAT, for no reason.
At least I think so.
-
I honestly like her appearance and visuals...and that is pretty much it.
Not really a huge fan of killers whose counter is, mostly, holding W.
-
You know what?
I declare a Crusade!
-
I am surprised BHVR hasn't done anything about them yet.
It didn't take them long to realize that Old MoM was overpowered and they soon changed it.
Why not do the same thing with Boons?
EDIT: It didn't take them long for a 'BHVR" point of view, because 2 months is not exactly a short period of time.
-
These days?
It always has been and it always will be.
-
So...
Will Old Deathslinger mains join us Old Freddy mains and Old Hillbilly mains in our crusade to get our killers back?

I was playing him a lot he was the only killer i played. With him it was close to impossible to get to rank 1 during that time not because he was bad but mostly because of the way i played him. I always needed to pick someone else when i was rank 5 or 6 because the only thing i was getting are brutal killer.
You should have said that earlier!
Freddy was definitely far from the Low Tier, but people who played him in the wrong manner would never realize that.
-
The on-release version of the A Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter is literally everything I could have asked for.

You have to keep in mind that a lot of these killers changed
Wraith was god awful, only thing he had going for him was his multiple All Seeing add ons
Doctors shock only applied madness, Survivors could still use items while in tier 3, and they didnt get the 2.5 stun, making his shock basically a slow down tool that slowed himself more than anything
Trapper and Hag taking 7+ seconds to set down a trap
the rest well, Im sure you know
I know, it is just that...it is really different from the regular Tier Lists you usually see.
It is only Nurse and Billy and everyone else is at the bottom.

Nurse - This was a time of three-blink basekit Nurse and Omega Blink Nurse. She's still powerful now, but she's somehow more balanced than that nightmare.
Hillbilly - The only rework that I feel shouldn't have been. The only thing really annoying was the back-revving and some of his add-ons, but base-kit Billy was strong without being overpowered.
Huntress - Other than three Iri-Head Huntress, she was balanced. And they fixed that (maybe not in the best way, but they fixed it).
Hag - When I started, Hag took roughly three seconds to place down a single trap. She got buffed shortly after, but that first impression was something I carried for a long time before she became one of my mains.
Wraith - He had been buffed shortly before I joined, but he was far from a good spot.
Shape - Maybe he should be higher due to how the playstyle was different back then and how little he's changed, but looking back, he wasn't all that great.
Doctor - My main was a noobstomper and nothing else.
Pig - RNG screwed her over then as it still does now.
Trapper - He was slower at placing traps and could only carry one.
Cannibal - The only thing he had going for him was an instadown that he had to charge practically right on top of you to have a chance at nabbing you.
Nightmare - I'll preface this with the fact that I was pretty damn good with him back then. However, I'm also pretty damn good with Legion, so that honestly doesn't mean much. Freddy was a Killer punished by Survivors making mistakes. Even the other low tier Killers could at least HIT a Survivor without their power, while Freddy's power was pretty much JUST to hit people. I guess there was the slowdown and aura reading aspects, but that doesn't change the fact that he barely had a power to speak of. Was he fun? I won't say he wasn't, because he was one of my mains and I hate playing the new version. But if I had to choose, I'd take current Freddy (maybe retrace the overdone nerf) over old Freddy any day of the week, simply because he at least isn't punished by the Survivor blowing up a gen in your face.
If you truly place Freddy that low, then I respectfully but sincerely doubt your "fact" that you were "pretty damn good with him".

I would SFW with my rank 1 cousin when I started, and I would always get stomped so my subjective list looked something like this:
So you would see Freddy as the only non-OP killer?
Based.

Old Legion have their own category considering how broken they were.

This one is pretty similar to mine, actually. And I definitely see your reasoning behind it.

I don’t have a specific order in each tier except S tier. I think the worst killer at the time was probably Wraith or Trapper.
Ah, I see.
Then it is extremely accurate, at least based in my experience.
-
@glitchboi said:
Honestly, I feel like even though Clown was weak at that time, he was still mid-tier like people said in the past. There was no... current Freddy to be outclassed by, and since infinites were a problem at that time, he was the only killer to be able to consistently counter them. Obviously if we had the same Clown today, he would be the worst killer in the game because he no longer has infinites to counter, but in the past he had quite the niche.
Anyways, here is my tier list for 2.4.0, where I started playing!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/3PIJGRGFXT5L/my-image-283-29.png
If old Legion could do the bs zero-counterplay chases with no add-ons, they would be A tier, but I never played Legion at that time and thus I don't know much about old Legion, but I know they were unhealthy as #########.
@Myla said:
It's mostly the same with now except Legion was in S tier due to me starting when he got released then experienced his BS when his power can down anyone if he wanted to and then Infinite mending legion and moonwalking legion what a dc fest.
So basically all 3 of us started around the same Patch.
