That map sucks.
It is bad for both sides.
-
Hag's add-ons are perfectly fine.
It is with Freddy that you should be concerned.
-
Immediately prior to leaving the game, Twins, Freddy and Hag were the rarest killers for me.

If the game was burning by October (which I agree with), what is it now?
It is a bit calmer now, or so it seems.

Only 70 Votes, I can't belive this shameful act from the community
For a random, unexpected thread from a moment things were burning, I think 70 upvotes is way more than it deserved.
That support was really unexpected, but extremely appreciated.

I'm already enjoying this
It comes from this discussion:

Give the game to me, BHVR, and I will save it!
Just do it!
You have done quite enough already...let the General take it from here.
Vote GeneralV for Dead by Daylight's owner!

I wouldn’t mind that. He can take the balancing department and I'll take the concept one. Massive win for the community
Welcome to the team.

I wanted to ask you something because you like him and I never saw anyone mentioning this except me.
Do his blood pools (snares) and fake pallets (breaking) look very out of the place and unpolished to you as well?
For example they are supposed to be blood pools but it doesn't even look like blood to me, it looks like ketchup or something and color is totally off.
It is very ugly to me.
Honestly...I don't know.
I never use Snares and Fake Pallets are mostly useless, so there were countless trials where I didn't get to see those animations in the first place.
From what I remember of them...they are indeed a bit weird and unpolished when compared to other DBD animations, but that could be just me...well, us.

In October of 2017, a few days after Freddy's release, Monto made a video where he was going for a 4-man Devour Hope. And, in that video, he says that finding Totems "is like playing Where's Waldo, with Waldo standing in a white room by himself".
The situation still hasn't changed.

I’m still happy I see you playing Freddy now even though it’s not the OG. We’re not gonna give up this fight until we get you your main back. 💛
No matter how much I hate his current power, I would never give up on my precious Nightmare :)
And yes, we will get our killer back. Whatever it takes.
I promise you that.
-
I just want my game back. The game I fell in love with back in 2018.
Whether that game was a lighthearted party game or a competitive game, I don't really care.
I just want my game back. That is all I ask for.
-
People complaining about Freddy after his release in 2017.
Reading those complaints makes you wanna remove your eyes with a rusty spoon.
It really makes you wonder if those "players" were actually playing Dead by Daylight.
-
Then you are unlucky you haven't faced me during my little testing session :)
On a more serious note, it is fairly easy to understand why people are not playing him anymore. As much as it hurts me to say this, Freddy is... boring.
The Nightmare doesn't have anything special about him anymore, which is downright depressing for who once was the most unique killer in the game.
Slowdown survivors on loops? Clown.
Fake Pallets? Doctor.
Teleportation? Hag.
Don't get me wrong on this last one, though. Dream Projection is nice and it is good to have mobility in a game like DBD, but...this isn't enough to make him appealing or fun to play as. Or against.
As I've said countless times, Freddy NEEDS his on-release version back. The fact that he hasn't been reverted yet is genuinely scary and disturbing.

Freddy right now is the equivalent of stale bread. Old Freddy was fun though
@SweetTerror said:
Just like the General, Freddy was my main too, and personally I don't understand those that are saying that he was barely nerfed because I couldn't disagree more. Every single one of his slow down add-ons were removed, the number of dream snares and pallets he can use were reduced, when putting down a snare his speed was decreased, his teleporting speeds were decreased, and now all alarm clocks gives survivors invulnerability from falling asleep if they get hit.
The sad truth is, is that there's nothing unique to Freddy anymore. Think about it, the dream world is what gives him his power and the only thing he's capable of doing is throwing down a snare or a pallet. That's pretty pathetic. OG Freddy was so much more interesting than this abomination.

That’s surprisingly fitting considering your main
They obviously meant to reference that...but not in a fun kind of way.
Needless to say, there were also countless other insults paired with that.
-
I don't even think these snowmen create an unbalanced situation, but it would've been best if the devs never implemented them in the first place.
At least it would've avoided all of this mess.
-
Haven't see BM recently because I am not playing the game.
Though the best, or worst, I've ever seen was a toxic Survivor wishing for me to burn alive.
-
It is not as bad as some people said it was, but it is nowhere near the legendary Winter Solstice Events.
-
Not so sure, though it would be well deserved.

Ouch...that hurts to read..

I assure you.

It's more that it can be used as a pretty powerful pseudo-endurance effect that can be pretty rough on certain killers.
It's a really cute idea, but woof - once more players realize how to use these as a defensive tool, it's going to be ugly.
From what I've seen and tested (I had to know), they are not nearly as powerful as that.
I don't think this is a good event at all, but it doesn't create the extremely unbalanced situation that some people claim.

What if they don't own Freddy? :P
That is heresy. Everyone owns Freddy.
And if they don't, then wait for the ANOES DLC to go on sale and buy it.
-
Imagine complaining about a small and unnecessarily goofy prop.
-
Ok Myla, I will give you the ultimate fix for that.
Play Freddy.
They will jump out of the snowman as soon as you approach then.
It worked for me during my little testing session (I had to know).
It will probably work for you as well.
-
Ok, so I was really confused about this "snowman" thing. When I first read the threads, I kept asking myself how was it that a small and unnecessarily goofy prop was causing such a reaction from the community.
So I decided to test it myself, and I must say that many people are overreacting about them.
I didn't play many matches because I can't deal with current DBD for long periods of time, but I got to see the snowmens on all of them...they are not massive Survivor "shields", guys. They make a lot of noise, are extremely slow, and they grant a STBFL stack if you hit them when a Survivor is there.
Those matches didn't end well for me, but that has little to do with those new props. That is because I am really out of touch with the game and with Freddy's current power, so I couldn't possibly expect to dominate those trials.
Here is a small proof that I did what I claim:
(This is map is ######### horrendous, btw).
So, guys, just try to enjoy the Event, if you can.
It is not a big deal.
-
I used Blood Warden A LOT back when the EGC didn't exist. As long as you played your cards right, you were guaranteed to get at least some value out of it.
Now...it is indeed a bit more difficult to use.

Thanks. I wish the would bring him back with a few tweaks. I was such a unique and interesting design.
Yeah, same.
That is why I mention him at every single opportunity, insist on his return whenever I can.
But I will tell you, my friend: it is difficult to keep talking when your words always fall on deaf ears.

You realize not everything is about Freddy, right ? 🤣
It is for me.
I am devoted to that killer, particularly his old version, more than anyone is and more than anyone ever will.
You can laugh it up if you want to. I don't really care.
-
This reminds me of that one Freddy with Blood Warden during the Moonrise event...
Though he wasn't doing it because he didn't want people to get the rewards. He was doing it because it was part of his build.
Still pretty funny tho.
-
Dead Dawg Saloon and its associated realm are easily the worst for me.

Then know you are not alone, my friend :)
I will succeed in getting him back, or die trying.
-
So you know how I feel, Yords.
You know.
-
Careful with what you wish for...
-
Rework, you say?
...Be careful with what you wish for, mate.
-
I am not even playing DBD and I miss Hawkins too.
It is weird to think that the map is completely gone now.
-
I don't know, but I wouldn't blame them if they are.
-
As someone who is more dedicated to Old DBD than anyone else, I think this question is a bit difficult to answer.
First of all, we would have to point out exactly when did DBD reach its most fun state for the majority of the community. It is obviously somewhere in the past, but we can't just say "Old DBD" and go along with it in this specific scenario.
Dead by Daylight received many changes throughout the years which potentially made the game more fun or less fun, and many of those changes happened in the past.
If you asked that question to only me, I would tell you that Dead by Daylight's most fun state ever was around the Hallowed Blight Event, in October of 2018:
And the thing is, if you take this version of the game, it is actually pretty balanced. Just not the same type of balance that we have today.
The thing about this version is that, if one side has a strong advantage that they can use, so does the other. An Insta-Saw Hillbilly can be overpowered by himself, but throwing him against 4 Survivors running Old DS makes it technically balanced in that context.
So, in my personal opinion, there is a correlation between balance and fun, it just depends on the type of balance you are going for.
Obviously there are way more things that could be said here, but I tried to keep it on-topic.
-
@Shaped said:
Yeah they actually made me buy licensed killers after trying them out.

I bought Michael only after testing him thanks to a Black Splinter, back in early-2019.

Short bursts at loops is still the best way to play her and is still effective. A lot of people overuse their power and that’s when they think she’s dead.
Also, looking at your name, I think you’ll get along very well with @GeneralV
If by that name he means bringing back Freddy's on-release version, that sure we will!
-
I miss Old DBD in general, and that definitely includes Splinters.
I still hate myself for that day where I prestiged my Freddy, and forgot that my last remaining Splinter was among his offerings.
I am terribly sorry, random Glass Splinter from Freddy's Bloodweb.
I never understood why did the devs decide to remove them, but you can add that to the very big list of things that I will never forgive BHVR for.

The problem with non anti loop killers is they are map dependent. If they get a very survivor sided map against survivors who know how to loop very well they will always lose.
I had a game on the new map and looped a plague for 5 gens since everyone stayed broken.
Even if they get absolutely destroyed, the match isn't really fun.

People were asking for a full on rework, we just didnt know we could get one, to such a large scale
A lot of people were happy at first seeing those Freddy changes and playing with him on PTB felt a lot better, didnt take long to realize that it made him boring and uninspired
I've only seen it once, by someone who later renounced his position.

idk, i wasnt playing back when old freddy was a thing. but from what i saw on old threads most people wanted a full-on rework
Nope, only buffs.
Specifically the reversion of Patch 1.8.1, which was his initial nerf.
So, you might wanna change that :)
-
My answer has to be The Resolute Dream Walker:
At least he used to be the best.
-
The grind is fine...partially.
-
@CowabungaDude said:
Ahem. :
-freddy rework
-trapper buff
-spirit nerf
-freddy nerf
-deathslinger nerf (debatable though)
-key and hatch nerf
-mori nerf
i could go on and on.
I would remove the first one.
Most people who complained about Freddy asked for buffs, not a full rework. I myself have seen a Rework request only once, in a obscure Discord server that had no connection to BHVR, and that guy eventually changed his mind.
The devs just messed that up and made the worst possible decision.
Unless you are referring to his recent, pointless nerf, that is.
