  • From a killer stand point, DS is merely annoying, nothing more. I want to see optimization and code that runs efficiently above all else. Other than that, I mainly want to see new map variants for single maps and reworks for a few killers that are a bit lower tier.

From a survivor stand point, BBQ is fun to play against and I never thought it should be taken out. NOED is fine the way it is, but the totems need to be looked at and adjusted.
  • I miss when killers were actually scary to go up against. Mike, Doc, and Hag all made me more tense than any of the killers released after them, and I miss that feeling when it comes to new killers.
    @FoggyDownpour
After some hours of gameplay there's no game that can scare you anymore (well maybe myers or pig)
I don't mean just being scared though, I mean that feeling of dread and "oh #########" when you realize who you're up against. And I don't mean the type of dread you feel when you play against a killer you hate, I'm more after that moment when you realize that you have to play very well against a killer to even have a chance at doing well. I'm after that mixed bag of emotions, that challenge and unpredictability that those killers bring to the table, not the jump scares. (Hopefully that made more sense)

  • You can play high ranks without any perks if you have the knowledge and the skill. No perk is completely mandatory, some are just more helpful and harder to put down than others.

Pick locations that you hide carefully. Doing a gen? Have a plan for where you will hide when the kill comes, don't rely on your speed. Premonition is extremely helpful if you don't have UE, it gives you extra warning for when the killer is coming and tells you which direction. Use that info to hide in the right spot. Urban gives a lot of confidence and makes it easy to hide anywhere. It generally makes up for any bad hiding spot decisions and it takes adjustment to lose it. Previously 'safe' spots are no longer that safe.
  • Killers:
    Main - Doctor and Trapper
Other killers I love playing - Hag, Billy, Mikey

    Survivors:
    Main - Meg, Nea, Ace
Other survs I love playing - Dwight
  • I don't see shirtless Davids being any less helpful than others, they are often more concerned with being killer bait while others come for the save. I've had tons of matches where shirtless Davy was more helpful than any of the others, sometimes coming for the save and distracting the killer during others.

  • At first I didn't like the beard on him, but I grew to love it more than beardless. In my PS4 account I decided to keep him clean shaven until I P1'd him. He earned his gristle at that point and now sports a fabulous beard to match his bloody jacket
  • I haven't really had a chance to see many of the older horror movies, but I LOVED the original Halloween!

She's a corn snake and her name is Ink :dizzy:

I think the devs don't have to say it. Mechanically, it makes no sense. It'd be like Survivors being able to vault despite the Entity blocker, or Killers able to kill Survivors even after they've escaped.

I agree! It definately needs to be fixed and it's frustrating to play against

Ignoring the Legion, I hope it will be Piggy tbh

Bubba needs some serious love and so does Amanda but she's in a better place than Mr survivor pudding is.

I haven't played either of them a ton, but I honestly have fun when I play Bubba. I don't generally have difficulties with him, but I have many issues with Piggy. What do you suggest for Bubba?
  • @Orion said:

Hang on, let's follow your train of thought here.
    1. An exploit is taking advantage of something that was never intended.
    2. It was never intended for Killers to be able to chase Survivors without triggering the chase conditions.
    3. Therefore, it's not an exploit for Killers to be able to chase Survivors without triggering the chase conditions.

I think there's a problem with your logic somewhere.

I think the grey area is that the devs never said "you can't chase a survivor without being in a chase", but they gave the Legion a mechanic that discourages you from following the survivor with deep wound. Their power doesn't say "don't follow them", it just says that the timer won't go down if you engage in a chase. For me is on a very similar level as tunneling. Not fun, kinda scummy, but not an exploit.
  • I chose a 6. It's not that the entire community is toxic, it's more that there's a group of people that are considerably louder and more acidic than a lot of communities. They start and fan fires, which pull others into the salty mess.prong those people aside, I'd say the community is maybe a 3 ^^
  • This is what it says directly in the manual:

This hatch I found baffles me. As I witnessed the last survivor being, yet again, the victim of the dreaded hook I stumbled upon it as I slowly backed away. I finally found my keyhole. With my last strength I opened it, entered its tunnels and somehow found my way to the campfire. Now I sit here contemplating its purpose. Is hope more important for the Entity than I thought? Is this hatch just a treat you give a dog to as encouragement? For now I take what I can get.
  • A little more variety would be nice, but I also can't think of any new items that would be viable while not being over powered
  • @Orion
No, but it definately isn't an exploit to walk backwards or generally not look at your target. I don't agree with people doing it, but I don't think they are exploiting anything.
  • Ignoring the Legion, I hope it will be Piggy tbh
  • 3. If you kill my hex, prepare to be the first to be sacrificed.
  • I love the swamp as both killer and survivor :3
  • Honestly, pretty much all of the common offerings seem a little unnecessary now. Back towards the start of the game it was nice to have all the small offerings, but now it's extremely cluttered and they don't feel like they have enough of an effect on the game to spend bp on. I feel like they should take out the current common offerings and replace them with something different. I haven't given any thought to what those might be though
  • I don't find it to be an exploit, just a way to play. An exploit would mean someone was taking something that was flat out never intended, like getting on top of the killer shack. Moonwalking while tracking a survivor isn't what I would call an exploit, it's just generally douchy.

  • While I agree with you, I also disagree with the change for the purpose of fitting all playstyles. Perks are there to enhance your strengths or buff your weaknesses, and most perks play better with certain play styles than others. I don't think there's any need to make it universal

again items and add ons for survivor is not guaranteed to survive and items and add ons for killers well the item is your power which i can argue does alot more for than my item and the add ons are so much more powerful then our item add ons so when items/power and add ons are given equal power then they can be one use. and no its not a 1v4 for me its a 1v1v1v1v1

LoL, survivor items are pretty much overpowered considering their items should do far less since it's 4v1.

You have friggin instaheals while insta-down addons on killers usually have heavy downsides like for example myers who takes forever to stalk to tier3 with the unlimited EW addon while you can just pack in a brown medkit with the syringe and have an instaheal.

Toolboxes save you 20 friggin seconds per gen if you equip them for speed.

Maps make Hexes redundant altho good maps are pretty rare.

The key with addons is a potential 4man free escape if you play against a killer that has an endgame build like freddy.

Also killers are still weaker than a good survivor unless you're playing nurse/billy.

4v1 but i cant kill the killer? also intaheal is one use while a myers lock of hair gives unlimited tier 3

There's also the fact that killer addons don't always disappear after being used. I know they are supposed to, but they don't a majority of the time. I've used the same Iridescent King 5 matches in a row without a ward, and sometimes I get to use it even more than that.
  • The devs do receive the information and as far as I'm aware, they mainly take a look at it while investigating negative feedback/reported people.

You shouldn't have to pay extra to get rewards for leveling up

you dont seem to understand what a season pass is then, please dont write if you dont understand what the topic is about thank you.

I was talking to the person above me, but I forgot to quote them :P I just don't think that the level rewards they mentioned should be a part of the season pass, I feel like it should be base game
  • You shouldn't have to pay extra to get rewards for leveling up
  • Do you even know how long people have been claiming that the game is dying and won't last? 3 years. Look at where it is now? Rather successful, well loved, and still going strong. Many old players are still here and most of us that have stuck around for that long are going to continue to be here, through thick and thin with the devs.

As for the stream information, I both agree and disagree. There are certainly stretches of time where it feels like we learn nothing, but there are also stretches where we learn a lot about current and past works. They dedicate entire streams to lore, behind the scenes, and Q&A with portions of the team that you don't often hear from. I don't know another team that does it like they do, they make it work and I admire that about them.
  • Any map that only has 1 version definately needs more

I really like the limit. It forces you to pick something to specialize in, or if you prefer, something to do a couple things slightly better. I think having too many perk slots would turn everyone into a jack of all trades and hurt the diversity. I always think back to games like PAYDAY 2 when the increased the skill point cap. It was low enough originally that you could not get everything, which left you with very specific builds and made everyone feel different. Then when it was increased, you could spec into a bunch of different branches, and suddenly everyone was rocking one of two or three builds.

I could see the same happening here. If there's too many perk slots, it makes it too easy to just take the best of the best.

I completely agree, 4 is enough. Perks are already hard to balance with each other as it is, and they would likely have nerf a lot of perks due to certain builds becoming meta with 5 slots. This isn't bingo, we don't need an extra free space to make a match fun. If you can't decide on what perks to use, that's a you problem, not an issue with the game.

Part of the fun is choosing your build based on the four slots you get and the current array of perks you've managed to unlock on that character. You can't always have your favorite build, so try to adjust.

And besides, perks are not meant to be super powers. If you add a 5th slot, the perk combinations would be nearly endless, and the headaches would follow suit

Taking the 122 survivor perks and calculating the number of combos with 4 perk slots comes out to be 8,783,390. That's a lot of balancing to handle.

Taking the 122 survivor perks and calculating the number of combos with 5 perk slots comes out to be 207,288,004. And that doesn't sound ridiculous to you? It would raise more problems than solving your issue with having a hard time choosing a build.

Oh okay! Let's hope that all goes well then
  • Thank you for your input, but I frankly don't care. It seems the majority of those who posted in here do not understand what my thread is even about.

The main complaint I have is that of Survivor mains bitching about how difficult it has become to survive and blaming that on the Killers becoming stronger. I say that they have no right to use that argument until they stop playing like idiots. If they stop DCing upon being caught for the first time, stop unhooking right in front of the Killer causing the unhooked Survivor to go right back on it and if they start cleansing Totems as to not get downed by NOED and then still find that it is much more difficult to survive than before, then they may complain about strong Killers.

When I play Solo Survivor, and I know it's anecdotal, but I'm sure I'm not the only Solo Survivor who experiences that often, there are too many games in which a truly bad Killer gets 3-4 kills, who should only have gotten 1 at best, but got another 2-3 kills due to the Survivors doing exactly what I just mentioned they should stop doing.

It's skewing the statistics and saying that Killers are OP because they get about 2.5 kills on average is wrong without knowing the context of how those kills were obtained.

Now that seems far more reasonable! I can definitely see where you're coming from now.

Let me know if this is at least mostly accurate:
(Most) Killers currently have to rely on survivors screwing up, and the kill rates are being boosted by bad and carelessly made decisions on the survivor's end. So you're pissed/upset/worried that the devs are going to pass over a lot of the much needed adjustments and boosts for killers that they deserve due to the way you're seeing survivors play and seeing what they are saying in the forums and other media.

From your point of view, many of their problems that they complain about are easily avoided if they used common sense while playing and generally strategized and weighed their options rather than jumping in without thinking and then complaining about it later. You're especially concerned that the devs will continue to nerf killers that are already weakened by previous complaints from survivors in the last few years, rather then making the proper adjustments towards strengthening them. Survivors have the tools and would adapt to stronger killers, but killers can't adapt and are already stretched thin by stronger survivors.
  • This is always a touchy topic due to the abuse to many have gone through.

When I'm playing on PS4, I very rarely message the killer directly, and pretty much only when I had a particularly amazing game and I wanted to tell them that. Console players get really apprehensive about pm contact, but generally seem to relax a bit easier than pc players once they know you're not a jerk.

When I'm playing on PC, I always leave a "ggwp!" along with some type of text emote to make it clear that I'm being genuine. There are times I get lashed at for it, but I would say at least 80% of the killers I play against loosen up or at least remain guarded and civil. I've gotten lots of killers saying that they were waiting for some scathing remark and were surprised to see it was real, and it makes me feel good to know that I could show them a courtesy that so many others don't.

It also helps that I'm not toxic in game and I also say 'ggwp' regardless of whether I escaped or died. My advice is to not give up on common courtesy, just try to find a way that others respond to in a mostly positive manner.
  • I disagree. I have a ton of fun playing as and against Billy and I love him the way he is. That speed is part of what keeps the chases interesting! When hiding fails, I watch him super closely and and I'm usually able to figure out his patterns
  • This thread is pretty much bait that we've heard time and again.

Not everyone agrees on what's balanced or what's fun, but everyone wants to have a good time in a game most of us are rather passionate about. What I don't understand is why shade needs to be thrown and continued to be thrown around. People disagree. That's fine. But continuing the frustration and hostility by starting this thread like so many others with nothing to add to the discussion of Dead by Daylight? What even is the point? The original post can be summed up with "tldr; I played a couple games and my team mates were frustrating idiots, so you have no right to complain".

I'm not interested in getting in a fight or argument over nothing but charged (pun intended hah) words, but you must understand that adding to the pile of threads just like this one isn't helping. Especially since you're such an active and long standing member of the DbD community. You've been around, you've been active, you know how to push people's buttons, and this isn't constructive.

I enjoy playing both killer and survivor, I get frustrated at both sides, and I love a good discussion, but this isn't one of them. If you have specific ideas and thoughts on changes or a different viewpoint on mechanics, I'm all for it. I didn't see anything other than frustration and pointing fingers in your main post, and I didn't see much to back up your opinion anyways. This type of thread isn't what's needed.
  • If I remember correctly, they didn't change the colors for aesthetic, they changed them due to the huge rarity issues in the blood web. It's one of those 'function over fashion' things.
  • @Master

    What would be abused on a dedicated server? I'm a bit ignorant on any problems that could pop up due to them and I also never play Huntress ^^;
  • These are actually super interesting to think about.

I can't really see a reason why you shouldn't be able to vault, as there are certain areas that have massive loops to go around if you don't have the ability to go through the windows. Not to mention that the survivors crawl up the stairs like no one's business haha

I don't think the wiggle bar should be influenced by the amount you're able to recover, but it's definately something I've never thought about before now. There are already some wiggling related issues, but do you have any direct ideas for this one? If live to hear it if so.
  • People have been asking for this for a very long time, but it mainly comes down to gameplay and stealth. Certain outfits would become far too powerful in a game where there are already powerfully dark clothing combos. I agree it would be nice to wear the blood with pride on anything though, it takes millions of bp to get to P3 on any character :)
