He's actually pretty good now ever since they changed his power being knocked out when looking at him...
Its harder to actually do it now, but its still doable, so its not impossible to get him out of it before he gets the stalk off.
He's still not better than Myers though, I'll stand by that till the end of time!

How spoiled have we become? Back in the 90's I played the same game for years. There were no updates. I think I played Civ 1 for five full years without an update. Master of Orion 2? I think I played that exact same game for more than a decade. Counterstrike? Other than new maps I played the original for at least five years.
Games don't need new objectives or changes to the game design, really. Good games you can play for years over and over and over. Multiplayer games have it even easier because of emergent gameplay. Good games don't even need new content really. It's a nice bonus, like what we're getting now, but hardly necessary.
I think in this game specifically, holding M1 and being chased every-game by multiple Killers for say 1k+ hours can get really dull after awhile... OR in turn chasing said Survivors around loops that have yet to be fixed, or loops that're way too easy... Its not even just about chasing, the entire concept of just protecting generators and chasing Killers can get boring, maybe they could add something where you have to find certain parts of the generators and protect them? Idk. Something...
Same with Counter-Strike or any other game that revolves around a repetitive mechanic... If you play it long enough with nothing else that interests you, than eventually you'll force yourself to move onto other things whether there is anything or not.

Survivors would ban anyone playing the top 3 meta killers, ruin, "tunneling", "camping", etc
Killers would ban survivors using the meta loadouts, items, SWF, and so forth
Eventually people wouldn't even have lobbies anymore. Granted we sorta already have this with MLGA but not that many use it anymore for whatever reason
Make it official and lobby queues will be horrifying
So they'd ban every Killer then? Cause 95% of Killers run Ruin unless its a build or if its Billy or Nurse

They could at least test it. There is code in the game that would reduce a Survivor's max movement speed when injured if it were used.
Legion exists, so does Plague.
You'd see riots in the forums for days if they did this... if its a significant change than why change it at all?

Not really a risk. The reason why anti healing became meta is because survivors have multiple lives. Dead hard, Adrenaline and Decisive are the best examples.
Yeah, but Dead Hards baitable, Adrenaline is an end-game thing... and Decisive is easy to avoid if you're not tunneling.
If you're injured off the hook, and for whatever scenario involves you finding the Injured person first with DS, you can just hit them and than move on so someone wastes their time getting them.
What I'm referring to is just in-general risk when you won a chase or off the hook, you can get someone to heal you or assist them at a generator and than get healed. If you built a build around the concept of being injured with 99%, you can just self care when the Killer comes to where the generator is.

The problem is getting the 2 perks you want. Say the bloodweb has Adrenaline, Borrowed Time, Open Handed, and Up the Ante. Now obviously you want Open Handed and Up the Ante, but every time you take a perk it consumes another perk. So you could definitely get Up the Ante, but there's a chance that Open Handed would be consumed, forcing you to pick between the remaining 2 perks.
That's entirely random though isn't it? So its honestly just up to RNG if you can get both of what you want...
-

I believe they are referring to the level 50 bloodweb, where 4 perks appear, allowing you to get up to 2.
That's entirely new to me, never seen it before so its not like I would've known it existed unless I was aware of the update.
If that is what they're referring to though, it leads me to believe that it wouldn't be hard to get 2 perks in that specific Blood-Web... I think they just mean the regular 2 perks you get on the normal ones, since the one with 3 perks can easily get you 2... so why wouldn't the one with 4 perks get you 2 or 3?
-
I agree with @GrootDude Its literally a risk vs rewards play-style.
Its honestly situational when to risk not healing to work on the objectives... Usually this is good to do when you're on a generator with someone else who can heal you after or something.
There's even builds centered around not healing so they get speed boosts in action speed. Its honestly just something that you the Survivor can decide is worth healing over or not in a Trial during the right times...
-
If you desire a thrill of the hunt, than I don't think Legions right for you. His design and literally his meta revolves around the suffering of the Survivors...
This means what I literally suggested above, just constantly damaging Survivors and making them Heal THAN downing people when most or all of the team is injured and healing to avoid the speed penalty's.
But you do you man, I wish you the best in the future.
-
I can respect that, i'm just answering your question is all.
Hope this helped enlighten you on the subject in someway, good luck in your future games.
-
Its been like this since I believe skill checks were even a thing when the game came out... you can submit a ticket about it in support to bring it up (Here's a link) https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us
Or you can discuss it on one of the various sub-forums here.
For me personally though, once you're aware of its existence, its not actually that hard or even anything to pay mind to in the future. If you know that its a good idea to do a skill check THAN get off the generator, than you'll have no real issues in the future. Sometimes you'll be forced off a generator even when you just did a skill check but you were on it for awhile... Skill checks are random, they don't really have a set time when they happen.
Its all just RNG when this happens or not honestly.
-
Pretty sure it does, because if there is no obsession in the Trial it would naturally make one for the add-on to actually work.
-
To be honest, he can actually be a threat in a match and can even 4k even in his Post-Patch state.
If you combine certain perks that go well with him, he can easily be a tough Killer to Survivor against. I recommend if you do actually get him to focus more on hurting Survivors than hooking them, by this I mean you want to focus on Feral Frenzy hitting everyone to get them to mend as constantly as possible to have them avoid doing gens.
Having Thanatophobia and or Ruin on Legion also maximizes the time it takes people to actually DO generators, and overall he can still be something that's not easy to avoid... If you decide to get him, try this build out. Its Thanatophobia, Nurses Calling, BBQ and Chili, and for the 4th slot either Discordance, Pop goes the Weasel, Ruin, Thrilling Tremors, or Corrupt Intervention.
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
This doesn't happen quite as you've described. The generator only explodes if you stop repairing while a skill check is happening. Therefore, if you release after a skill check audio warning (without hitting the skill check) the generator will explode but not if a skill check hasn't started.
If the generator just randomly explodes without a skill check when you leave it, you should file a bug report because that isn't meant to happen.
@unhook_me_please said:
It happens exactly as I described lol. I clearly wouldn't leave a gen after hearing the audio cue.
@unhook_me_please ImmersedNurse is right.
The audio cue isn't always fast enough to catch up to when you get off the generator. This means you'll be working on the generator, the Killer gets too close and magically a skill check comes up right when you get off it and it explodes...
You may also encounter a strange thing that happens where you leave the generator but hear the audio cue happen after with no explosion OR a explosion.
There is no real fix to this, all you really need to do is get a skill check done before the Killer arrives and than get off. Don't continue doing it if you know they'll come back to avoid this, but you also should if you want to gamble the chance that they actually won't comeback but they're in the area...
And yes, the same thing happens to med-kit skill checks, it happens to all skill checks... Its just something that happens...
-
The best way to achieve an adept is to maximize your points in all 4 of the categories. The hardest one to get 8k points in is the Chaser emblem, this emblem focuses on ending chases as fast as you can, but it also has a more hidden requirement to it...
It says it promotes ending chases as fast as you can, but it actually promotes keeping the chase at a moderate length while also getting hits off as consistently as possible. Allow me to explain, the game wants you to down people as much as possible, and because of this, the emblem rewards this when you effectively "milk" every single hook each Survivor can take in one match. This means that since it takes 3 hooks each to kill one Survivor, and there is 4 Survivors in a team, that's 12 times you have to hook a Survivor to kill everyone in the game.
That's why if a Survivor DCs or dies early from being hooked, you won't get the most perfect game to get merciless Killer with the three perks. THIS is why its so hard to get merciless as Killer, its because having three perks that don't exactly co-exist well with each other while also playing the game as proficiently as possible is no easy feat...
So keep this in mind when playing as plague, max out EVERYTHING you can in points, that means you'll want to for example down Survivors regularly, but also get them sick. So when they DO get fully sick, you gain deviousness points from it while also gaining two brutality hit points (That's 600 points for two hits) as the SAME TIME! So what I mean is, you chase them, get them sick but not fully sick, hit them, than wait till they get into the broken state from sickness and than down them for the maximum points...
You need to abuse everything in a game that promotes points, everything. You need to protect generators perfectly (But don't be afraid to lose any, it just promotes how long you can keep them protected) and also hit Survivors and down them as much as possible, don't lose chases, etc. Even if you down a Survivor but don't hook them, that actually helps you gain more points in the emblems. Its all about getting that one team that lets you do all this, they don't hand it to you of course, but they're not coordinated enough to withstand your abuse of the system as long as you can.
I'm not saying hold the game hostage, i'm saying you milk the game for all its worth the fastest way possible. If people DC, don't expect to get Merciless because of how the game works, its unfortunate when that happens honestly... It used to be where I could just mori everyone and get adept, but now you REALLY work for it to get it...
tl;dr
Milk the game for all its worth, maximize all your points in all the emblem tiers by getting as many hits, downs, chases won, hooks, time spent having all generators protected, etc.
The game wants you to have a perfect game with those 3 perks and its a real challenge, so remember to not just get people sick and down them make sure to try to get them sick, hit them, than wait till they get sick and THAN down them to get the maximum amount of points in brutality and deviousness.
-
It offers two perks but you can only receive one.
Unless its one of those new sections they added to the lower level Blood-Webs with three perks in it, the regular ones only let you grab one, and the one i'm referencing DOES give you the chance to receive two.

Oh different title. No, the game isn't "slowly dying" the player base has been consistently at around 20k-ish for the past couple of years.
The game isn't dying by any stretch.
It's not dying, its actually been fairly the same for awhile now. But that's actually not a good thing either...
If the game stays at a constant state for years, it'll eventually dip down because people who do keep it in that sustained field will longer present in the future. Take for example the Legacy Players, (Circa 2016 - Early 2017) these players have only dwindled in numbers over time because of many things. They could've 100%'ed everything during their time, their friends don't play anymore, the game hasn't changed in terms of objective so they quit, etc.
Of course, these players are not all gone, but the majority can safely be said to not be around anymore... And this is applying to people from Late 2017 - Early 2018 soon to... And I mainly blame the lack of objective and overall change in the game to be the cause honestly. Sure, new DLC is nice, but if its the same game for years, you'll eventually get bored of it...
-
You can always improve in any situation, try looking at it from a different perspective. If you review how the game went in your head, you can find flaws in your own routing and overall performance.
In a match, whenever you do bad you can think about what other routes you could've taken that would've improved the overall results. For example, if you say chases someone for 3 generators and than finally got them, you could review that in your head and think of another option you could've taken. Maybe you could've given up after a minute, knowing they're not worth the wasted time you could be using on other Survivors that're not as good at looping.
That's something that will overall help you in the long run, making scenarios that could've been better for your game and acting upon them if a similar game were to happen again. It really does help to review a situation and build upon it later on, rather than just giving up and writing it off as a "un-winnable game" as most people do.
-
If you want a stealth build, try Iron Will, Urban Evasion, Self Care, and Quick and Quiet.
You can also mix it up and use Lithe, Quick and Quiet, Dance with Me, and Urban Evasion.

the First 3 games had a good story, but it's been diluted to mediocrity over the 3 that followed. The Nightmares and Springtrap could easily work in terms of a gritty and hyperrealistic aesthetic, although I'm not sure how their mechanics would work for this game. The best fit would probably be Springtrap, because he is a psycho undead murderer, who could probably work in a slasher flick if Scott really tried (we have yet to see how the movie unfolds, as it's in production).
The games in general do a good job of creating suspense, even though the jumpscare mechanic just isn't a good one to rely on. In this I think we agree.
My point is don't just diss it because it has mechanics you don't like. There are definitely mechanics I don't like in DBD, but that doesn't make me disparage the whole game just because of them.
You're comparing mechanics from a game that relied on the jumpscare factor to actually make it appealing for people to complete.
People played that game solely to finish it, and survive the "horrific night" till 6 AM or whatever. Nothing about that game is scary unless you're either not desensitized like most people are these days, or you're a child (No offense.) The only reason people thought it was "scary" was because of the jumpscares, even the name implies my exact point.
It was just a sudden thing that pops up on your screen to make you jump, its literally the bottom of the barrel way to get a scare out of someone...
Despite everything people complain about here on a daily basis, BHVR still has a team, they still have production going into their work. FnaF is just a meme, and its just another community that certain people latch onto so they can theorize about things in a game with the most cookie cutter lore on the planet.
Nothing about that game doesn't scream toxicity whenever I hear about it, that's why I diss that game, its not a game, its just a mess.
-
FnaF in-general is horror bait, jumpscares doesn't equal horror, idc what mediocre story they made out of that concept.
Its still a no, its not a good fit for DBD at all, and the community for that game is omega toxic, we don't need that here...

So even doing the bare minimum support for ultrawide screen by providing black bars on the sides of the screen wouldn't be possible because of perks in the game?
Essentially, either its too much work to do for them right now or it would effect the game in an unfair way.
At least, thats what people would believe.
-
Nah you have it right, you flap when the Killer is next to you, and you don't when they're not.

Honestly, I wouldn't use Infectious Fright... But maybe you'll find some hidden practicality and prove me wrong ;) Good luck.

Infectious fright goes off of the Increased Terror Radius once the Survivor is downed. When the chase is over, M&A decreases the Terror Radius.
So yes to the 2nd one, and no to the 1st.

Untrue, consoles may not be as optimised as a good pc but the game has been quite stable in many different patches.

Lemme reiterate then, console hasn't always had the BEST optimization patches.

Right? And it's so hard to see scratch marks on this map... Sometimes it's hard because of the lighting and sometimes because the grass covers them too much.
Its definitely the lighting that makes it hard to see them, I now know to just focus on them more than I usually do because of the info...

For me, the FPS drops happen SOMETIMES, idk why its sometimes... Like i'll go outside with the snow and the FPS is fine, and than sometimes when I get the map again the FPS will die a little but not enough to make the unplayable.

Lucky you. My FPS drops from 60 to 3-4 in these situations. About net I also use Ethernet cable, but my internet is 14.4 MB/s... Did you tried to change service provider from net?
We tried, but the other providers took WAY too long to get back to us, and because of personal issues, we can't actually get them right now because someone... we'll just say that's in the family, billed that provider under someones name at my house.
So until we pay that bill, we can't get them :D
And if you mean like, the loading is slow than yeah that happens because people are just connecting, if that's what you mean. Obviously the FPS will drop when its trying to load the other players.
If you mean like, when its normally loading and still drops FPS? No, that doesn't happen. My games are always at a stagnant FPS until my internet decides to do these little "hiccups" I call them, and randomly the game will lag for like 1 second.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it sometimes does. And I get called a "lag switcher" because its sometimes happened when I was in a chase, and that's something I really can't fix right now...
I had this giant debate with a streamer who actually had that experience, and they thought I was lag switching, but I explained that its just my terrible internet acting up. And they had a firm belief that because I knew of this issue that I was "abusing it" or something?
We talked about it for awhile and cleared stuff up, but I wouldn't doubt some people think I lagged switched them in the past. News flash, I wasn't lmao...

It's not "Just his pc", a lot of people have performance issues with the game. Even big streamers who have the fastest and strongest hardware noone would be able to effort have lags and fps drops.
Either you are just a casual gamer (no offense) so you aren't even noticing low fps, or you are on of the few lucky people who have the perfect hardware combination working for DbD.
The fault is definently on the side of dbd and not of our PCs. Who on earth would get new hardware just to play DbD when his current hardware is working flawless on all the other games in his steam library (which are much more detailed and need more power in theory)? Doesn't make sense at all
No, i'm not a casual, so lets not start shall we? And if you look down below, you'll probably see somewhere that I actually was agreeing with him, I just didn't agree that EVERYONE has this issue. (Because they don't.)
I do agree the game is poorly optimized, even on PC. And i'm not surprised that the OP is having an issue with the FPS.
We don't need to make assumptions here about each other because my opinion doesn't Aline with his, but its ok, I honestly don't care. My point is though, not everyone has this issue.

No, I don't get FPS drops at that.
I get a small lag during the cut-scene that happens when showing off the map, but that's because my internet is literally connected through tin cans or something. That isn't the games fault, its my internet.
(Where I live doesn't have fios as an option, so I can't get fibre to have better internet for another year or so because of a contract the greedy town I live in has with the company's that handle internet here :DDDDD. My internet is literally 3.2MB/s and yes, I use a Ethernet cable to my PC, it doesn't help at all.)
