  • Oblivious just means you can't hear the terror radius, it doesn't remove the red stain.

People EARNED that mask when the game was absolute dogshit as killer. I don't think I deserve that mask and neither do you.

Is that why it's a dog mask? It all makes sense now 😮

I can't plan around their perks if I can't see them, I can't do much if they all run item except equip a niche perk (that wouldn't help me win anyway) and the map is random but some can destroy your chances at killing like that damn farm.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/884667#Comment_884667

their quick for killers cause most people want to survive since it's easy, for survivors it's slower since few want to be killer. I highly doubt those numbers since if it takes that long they wouldn't want to be toxic and risk their queue time being longer. Also you're a survivor so it makes sense why you'd say all that. Killer is horrible under the right circumstances since you can only capitalize on mistakes and if they make few if any mistakes you've lost and they have the ability to be toxic in ways a killer can't match. So no, no one wants to be killer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/884771#Comment_884771

I feel like they should be allowed to kill a survivor, if they're toxic it'll make em think twice and make the doors not open when the last survivor is alive and it'll make being killer funner.

So you're just calling me a liar because the queues in your region are different, and because I prefer to play survivor so obviously I'm just making things up?

    I'm... honestly speechless.

Oh cool, I like this. Maybe they'll go with the idea of proper unlocking them through their related Event? I do enjoy seeing Event cosmetics because those people earned them and it's like a badge of sorts.

I agree. And that could be cool to be able to unlock them in future events, similarly to the Hallowed Blight skins, if the devs ever decide to do similar events again and not just bloodpoint-related ones as they've said they're planning to do for the forseeable future.

  • The DLC release was 12PM ET (midday). So yes, the game is available on PC already and people are playing as and against him.

  • Are you saying you let them all bleed out? Is there a reason why you didn't just... hook them?

Id guess Sony takes a bigger chunk than valve does.

And Microsoft too, it would appear - it's the same price in the Xbox Store as it is on Steam.

EDIT: This chapter isn't the only one, most of them are differently priced on the Xbox and PS4 Stores compared to Steam and even compared to each other. So I guess that's just how it is, it depends on whatever deal BHVR makes with the platform owner.

    Come on!

    I wanna know now!

Show me the fancy tools Peanits!

It's probably a feature of the engine software which allows them to move the camera through the environment and make cool cinematics like that. I've never used Unreal, but I've done it before with Unity.

It's a very secret secret that only the devs are privvy to 😮

  • They announced that about a month ago, but changed their minds due to player feedback.

From the Release Information that was posted a few hours ago:

In the latest Dev Update, we announced our plan to unlock a large list of exclusive cosmetics to all players on PC and console. According to the feedback we received, we decided to review the unlocking process for the following cosmetics:

    • Hound (The Huntress – Event Mask)
    • Untamed Donkey Jacket (David King – Event Body)
    • Pro-Pain Hammer (The Hillbilly – Event Weapon)
    • Free Song Bird Slip Dress (Kate Denson – Event Body)

As it was mentioned by many players, these cosmetics were earned during events and were representative of the player's dedication to the game. The way these cosmetics were stored created an issue where a loss of progress was possible, we've since switched to a more secure method of storage for event cosmetics.

At the time of the announcement, last month, we had no way to isolate players who had earned these cosmetics. Since then, we have found a way to isolate the players that have played the event and will be able to restore these four cosmetics on a large scale, only to players that earned them during the events. Keep an eye on the news, this will happen Soon™

  • Here are some screenshots I took during the PTB, showing a comparison of the two outfits. As @Keene_Kills said, there's barely any difference.

When they first announced it the forums were full of people complaining.

There were a lot of people complaining, yes. I read most of the complaints. I don't recall a single one that was made on the basis of PC players not wanting console players to get something. Most of the complaints were from owners of the exclusives who didn't want everyone else, regardless of platform, to receive the same cosmetics for free.

You are describing elitism... do you not see that?

"I deserve this, you don't" how is that not elitism?

Giving people what they deserve? That's not elitism, that's called justice. But it's also beside the point.

If you think that someone can't be proud of being singled out for their achievements without being an elitist, I can't help but think that says more about how you view personal achievement than it does about the people you're criticising.

  • Winter events in DBD have historically been quite low-key. The usual fairy lights and maybe snow decorations, presents in the bloodwebs and possibly a bloodhunt and/or some seasonal cosmetics are probably the most we should realistically hope for.

  • This was the first one of these I clicked on that didn't turn out to be sarcastic.

    It's a refreshing change. I admire your positivity 😊

Still disappointed with oni he looked fun on ptb but some major secret nerfs happened they didn’t mention on patch notes and the cosmetics I specifically named pc players were crying console was gonna get them so figured those were put off to cater to pc people again

I have not seen a single person complaining about console getting the cosmetics or wanting them to be PC exclusive.

If you read the Release Information carefully, you'll notice that the developers decided not to give out the event-exclusive cosmetics from Howling Grounds or Summer BBQ to anyone, regardless of platform, except for those that earned them during the relevant events.

Both console and PC should receive all the other promised cosmetics with the new patch.

I'm not sure if I'm right about this, but doesn't unbroken award points for being in the killer's terror radius outside of chase? Even though youre effectively capped at gold on that one, unless you escape unhooked which is rare.. Also, as a stealthy player youre probably pretty consistent at lightbringer and/or benevolent too :)

Nope. Evader awards points for being in the terror radius, but they're pretty pitiful compared to the points you can earn in a chase and won't get you anywhere close to an Iridescent emblem.

Unbroken simply rewards you based on whether or not you escaped, and how well you did. Bronze for dying early, Silver for Dying late, Gold for survivor, Iridescent for surviving without getting downed.

And yes, Lightbringer and Benevolent are my bread and butter in this game as far as ranking goes.

  • According to the post on the website, the Winter Gifts are all the no-longer-exclusive cosmetics that were promised (with the exception of Howling Grounds and Summer BBQ event cosmetics), a (free) ugly sweater for Bill, Frosty Eyes for the Oni and Plague, and a new Christmas Tree charm.

    https://deadbydaylight.com/en/news/winter-gifts

  • That doesn't sound right. Are you sure it's the same outfit, and you're looking at the price for the outfit as a whole rather than the individual piece?

EDIT: Actually, I think I may have understood what you mean. Basically, the way it works is that the 1080 is the sum of all the individual parts, discounted by 10%. So without the discount, it would be 1200. If you have bought a part of the set, the full outfit is priced at the sum of the remaining parts, discounted by 10%. In theory, this would mean that the in your case, the remaining part of the set should cost you 360 cells (400 - 10%).

However, it's possible that the discount no longer applies if you have bought all but one part of a set. I haven't tested it myself. It's also possible that you're looking at the wrong part of the Store by accident, so if you could provide screenshots that would be helpful in figuring out what the problem is.

I'm OK at being chased. Maybe my playstyle is more rewarding in terms of emblems than yours :) for example, I'm not good at looping. I'm too clumsy and I keep getting stuck on stuff, so I prefer to use the environment and rely on unpredictability and line of sight more than my ability to hug walls. It's actually worked out

That's more my playstyle as well, when I do get chased, but I tend to go for stealth if I can get away with it. Maybe that's why I have so much trouble with Evader, because it rewards doing well in chases. I wish stealth were a more viable strategy as far as the emblems are concerned.

What I see is "The event was hard, so I deserve the skin, while others don't". Except for it wasn't that hard and people exaggerate the effort needed to get the skins.

That's what I got from those complaints and to me it sounds like elitism. If I missed something feel free to point it out.

See my reply to Weck above. I don't know if it will make sense, but I did my best to explain it.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/885755#Comment_885755

What was it then? Because all I saw sounded a lot like elitism

I can try to explain it, but I don't think there's anything I can say that hasn't already been said.

Basically, the value that those cosmetics held for those who owned them wasn't what the cosmetics themselves looked like, it was what they represented. Like souvenirs, if you like. The fact that you owned that cosmetic meant "I was here, I went through the requirements to achieve this" - whether it was grinding an event, or going to a convention, or winning a giveaway.

It wasn't a matter of lording it over other people or feeding a superiority complex, it was a sense of pride in being singled out for their achievements - similarly to the sense of pride someone might earn for receiving a distinguished trophy of some kind.

Essentially, the value of those items lay in what they represented as trophies, not only to those who earned them but to the community at large. By giving them away to everyone, the value in that sense was reduced to nil. It was a loss, and that's why people were disappointed.

  • For anyone who's curious, this is the difference between the two cosmetics which (I think) are the ones being discussed here:

    image.png image.png image.png image.png
  • @ZerLukas said:

I participated in the event and I have 3 out of 4 cosmetics from that. I don't have Kate's dress because I didn't like it and didn't bother to get it. So that doesn't make much difference for me personally.

But I still think that it is a stupid change not making it available for everyone simply because of some people's elitist attitude.

And most of the reasons I hear sound like total bs, here is why:

    1. You didn't have to "bust your ass" to get the cosmetics. The events were easy. You simply needed to play the game during the event. Participation didn't require any additional acton - you needed to do gens or hook people. It was slightly harder on survivor's side because you always had 3 competitors in a lobby(at least that was for solos, SWFs could share) Also if I remember correctly, devs actually prolonged one of the events by a week, making it even easier than what it was supposed to be.
    2. "The grind" argument - please note that it was 2018, not 2016. The grind was already a lot easier and was rather close to what it is now.
    3. "Gen campers" argument - yeah, there were jerks like that, on both sides (I had Jakes sabotaging event hooks in my face while I carried someone) They were annoying but not numerous enough to actually prevent you from completing the event. Also as a survivor I had more competition from my teammates than the killer.

So I find it rather stupid that someone is unhappy with those skins released for everyone considering they lose nothing. Except for a part of their elitist attitude I guess.

If you think that the basis of the complaints was elitism, you weren't paying enough attention.

I wish survivors got achievments based on the new perks. Like...

"Pick 10 pallets back up with (the perk I forgot the name)"

"Any Means Necessary" is the one you're thinking of, I believe.

  • @Accullla said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/885099#Comment_885099

Thanks for the corrections. The point on the dull totems was interesting to learn, as it's new and I didn't know exactly how they work yet.

Regarding evader, I had a think about this and it's actually not as extreme as having to run the killer around for the entire trial or get a lot of stuns. Creating distance and using line of sight blockers helps you lose chase even if the killer is still on you. That means continuously cycling around tiles instead of looping a single one for an extended amount of time. If you drop "chase" several times in a single chase the game will award you with emblem points each time. I've gotten iridescent plenty of times without having to run the killer for that long.

Re: Unbroken - thank you.. it was really bothering me, but i was too lazy to check!

You must be better at being chased than me, then! I still haven't been able to crack the code on that darn Evader emblem, no matter how many times I read the wiki page.

I can understand his reasoning though. Why is being on the hook perferable to being on the ground? Either way, your not doing anything.

    It isn't. That's my point.

  • @Jallybwan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/884635#Comment_884635

It doesn't really affect stealth, though. I covered that in my reasoning.

I read your reasoning. I think it will affect stealth more than you realise.

As you stated yourself, "the only difference is when the Survivor is inside the Killer's FOV or outside the killer's FOV" - and that is a key aspect of stealth gameplay. A good stealth survivor knows when they are inside the killer's FOV and is able to use that to their advantage, a skill which would be completely negated by the introduction of an FOV slider. Yes, the killer can "simply move their mouse to change that" but by that logic, we should just give the killer 360 vision at all times and be done with it.

  • As stated in the Release Info post, they have worked out how to restore these items reliably to the correct accounts and will be doing so not immediately, but soon. So you will be getting your cosmetics, just not at the same time as the patch.

"At the time of the announcement, last month, we had no way to isolate players who had earned these cosmetics. Since then, we have found a way to isolate the players that have played the event and will be able to restore these four cosmetics on a large scale, only to players that earned them during the events. Ah okay I wasn't sure when it got pushed out cause wasn't familiar with their update times. And I wasn't able to find the official confirmation anywhere so I figured that maybe the other sites were just wrong 😂

All good! I believe the patch and the DLC have now dropped (I think on all platforms, but definitely on PC).

A lot of people on this forum can't.

Also enjoy the BT buff. :)

    Oh, I know.

And it probably didn't need it, honestly, but I'm sure I will.

  • It's not impossible, but if they were going to confirm one way or the other I suspect they would have already done so, so for now the best we have to go on is "probably not". For two reasons:

    1) They said before that events for the forseeable future will be mainly bloodpoint-based with themed cosmetics available through the Rift. Although it's possible that they might put previous event cosmetics in the Rift, they seem to be leaning more towards original outfits.

    2) The way they worded their statement in the Release Info - "As it was mentioned by many players, these cosmetics were earned during events and were representative of the player's dedication to the game" - makes it sound like they want these cosmetics to remain exclusive to those events for the sake of the players who put the work into earning them at the time.

Of course, if a dev wants to come along and tell me I'm wrong, they're more than welcome to do so.

Go watch survivor tutorials, git gud.

    (It's a joke okay you're awesome.)

Lol don't worry, you don't need to clarify, I can recognise jokes when I see them 😁

  • Only once per game, of course, so it's not too OP... It could be like a perk or something.

  • They could even implement a feature which allows us to strike the killer... decisively.

  • Apparently they don't interact outside of trials, with the possible exception of the Legion, so I guess the canonical answer is probably not.

  • @DelsKibara said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/885496#Comment_885496

Yes, I am aware of that. That's why I think it's unreasonable someone would buy an account for one cosmetic.

I was just adding on to what you said for the benefit of others who may not be aware 😊

  • Here's your answer, from the Release Info:

"At the time of the announcement, last month, we had no way to isolate players who had earned these cosmetics. Since then, we have found a way to isolate the players that have played the event and will be able to restore these four cosmetics on a large scale, only to players that earned them during the events. So basically, you will get your cosmetics back, but there is no confirmed ETA for it as of yet. Rest assured, the devs know who earned them and who didn't, so they'll be able to restore them to the right accounts.

  • @DelsKibara said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/885473#Comment_885473

There is, buying a code is unreasonable for the price. Buying a whole account is unreasonable on a whole 'nother level.

Because it's actually against the rules of every platform DBD is available on that I'm aware of. BHVR doesn't have to take action when it comes to account sales because Valve, Microsoft, Sony etc. do it for them.

  • @Viracocha72 said:

Where does it list changes made to the Oni? Read through all the patch notes and didn't see anything.

    • Added a small buffer for spawning blood orbs when crouching. A blood orb will spawn right when crouching, but can only spawn a maximum of one per second.
    • The Oni will receive blood orbs when pulling a healthy Survivor out of a locker.
    • 2 Blood Orbs spawn when hooking a Survivor.
    • Decreased the number of Blood Orbs spawned when a Survivor vaults to 2 Blood Orbs, down from 3 Blood Orbs.
    • Passive power build-up pauses when reaching a certain threshold (98%) before completely filling. From this point, The Oni needs to absorb at least one Blood Orb to completely fill the power gauge.
    • Picking up a Survivor will cancel Blood Fury, however, now it will not reduce your remaining power gauge. Downing a Survivor will not cancel Blood Fury, however, will remove a small portion of the power gauge.
    • Ending a dash now incurs a 1 second cooldown, increased from 0.5 seconds.
    • Decreased the aura reveal duration of add-on, Renjiro's Bloody Glove, to 3 seconds, down from 4 seconds.
    • Modified the turn rate ratio of Demon Strike to reduce last moment sharp turns causing the attack to affect a wider arc than intended.
    • Destroying a pallet with Demon Strike now plays the properly timed animation, lasting 2 seconds in total.

All from the Release Information post. It's near the bottom, under "FIXES & CHANGES FROM 3.4.0 PTB - BALANCE".

yes you will be able to earn them they will give information soon tm

Where does it say that? I think you may have misread the Release Information.

  • Probably not. From the sounds of things, those cosmetics will remain exclusive to those who earned them the first time. I doubt we'll get the chance to earn event cosmetics in the same way in the forseeable future, since the devs said that they will no longer be doing unique event objectives and events from now on will be mainly bloodpoint-focused with themed cosmetics available through the Rift.

Not sure. Probably not - previously there's only been one exclusive cosmetic outfit per DLC, if my memory serves me correctly, and it's usually for the survivor.

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing the "DLC exclusive skin" was the slight recolour of Yui's default outfit which was shown in the PTB.

  • I'm sure the update will be available very soon.

Sometimes there is a delay for consoles (PS4 especially, for some reason) which is likely due to verification processes outside of the developers' control. Last time this happened with the archives update, the patch was only about 15 minutes late, so I'm sure you'll be able to get your hands on it shortly.

  • @Accullla said:

I think it's a bit harder to get iridescents as killer.

    • The easiest emblem there is the chaser (i think) - all you need to do is get into as many chases as possible and end them as quickly as possible. Stealth killers are best at this, as you can easily get your first hit in less than 10 seconds. Don't commit to long chases, as that hurts your emblem.
    • Gatekeeper is annoying to get, as you'll need to adopt a pretty boring playstyle. Ruin or corrupt intervention and pop are your safety nets
    • The other two are a bit inconsistent for me personally.

    Survivor is easier.

    • For lightbringer just do the equivalent of 2.5 gens and you'll get the iridescent. The best way to ensure a decent amount of time to work on gens in the beginning of the trial is to see where your teammates spawned at the start - if you're all nearby it means that the killer spawned on the other side. You know he'll be heading towards where you spawned, so run towards where you think he spawned and do a gen there (try not to get spotted on your way). He's almost guaranteed to find one of your teammates first, giving you free reign over gens for the first 1-2 minutes. If you spawned on your own, most of the time you're safe to do a gen there.
    • For benevolence i think you need about 2 safe unhooks and 1 heal. Yo'll randomly get some protection hits throughout the trial, which helps. Once you're done genrushing, just try to help teammates as much as you can (saving, healing, taking hits, etc.)
    • For evader - this is difficult unless you're a good runner. Getting into a few chases and losing the killer without getting hit will give you points in this emblem. The longer the chase, the higher the points and the more likely you'll get iridescent
    • For survivor (i forgot the actual name of the emblem), you need to escape without getting hooked - this one is pretty difficult. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to get it as it will keep you from completing the ones that are easier to get - you can get the other 3 without even surviving the trial

I believe you only need to do 2 gens for Iridescent Lightbringer, as long as you do them solo. You can also do 1 gen and 5 dull totems (or less if there are hex totems - a hex is worth about 2.5 dulls), or 1 gen, 4 dull totems and an Exit Gate.

The most lucrative way to get points in Evader is pallet stuns, but those can be hard to land depending on the killer. Generally, as you say, it's very difficult to get Iridescent Evader unless you run the killer around successfully for basically the entire trial.

Also, I believe "Unbroken" is the name you're looking for for that final emblem 😊

1 … 90 91 92 93 94 … 132
