There are currently plans to restore both the Howling Grounds and Summer BBQ cosmetics to all players who earned them during the relevant events.
"At the time of the announcement, last month, we had no way to isolate players who had earned these cosmetics. Since then, we have found a way to isolate the players that have played the event and will be able to restore these four cosmetics on a large scale, only to players that earned them during the events. Keep an eye on the news, this will happen Soon™"

Havent had it happen to me yet, but a buddy of mine was telling me about he had a game with a streamer. Streamer hooked him up in the basement, and he got to watch the streamer get to leave the game with him still stuck looking at a green screen... For some reason, the fact that the killer had left was not enough to boot him out of the match...
Really hoping they fix this soon though. I wanna be able to basement hook ppl guilt free again. Had a game this morning where I downed 2 people directly infront of the basement stairs back to back... As in they both were downed at the same time and instead of the best move, I had to take pity and hook them somewhere else. Hook the first guy, pickup the 2nd guy and 1st gets unhooked. Wouldve had em both on hooks for much longer if I couldve hooked em in a non-buggy basement
It's on the list of Known Issues in the Patch Notes, and Peanits confirmed that they are already testing a fix and hoping to release a hotfix as soon as possible to fix the issue. So rest assured, all should be well with the basement once again in the near future!

I still disagree that stealth would be impacted very much, if at all. I do stand by my "the Killer can just move their mouse to capture a Survivor on the screen" argument - I understand the "well let's just give Killer 360 degree vision" counter-argument, but I think that within reason it would have zero or very little effect on stealth.
That being said, I agree stealth does need a buff - specifically, stealth should be easier to be productive with. Right now, it can be quite challenging to be stealthy without being useless (immersed), and I think that needs a change. Killers do have adequate means to find a survivor, if not through their base kits then by perks like Whispers, Thrilling Tremors, Infectious Fright and BBQ (although BBQ has plenty of counters that render it useless against someone who is aware of how to avoid it). This is coming from me, and I absolutely suck at tracking, even with Whispers :P
I feel quite strongly about it as a stealth-focused survivor, but I'm happy to agree to cordially disagree on that particular point. I think this last comment in general is a good middle ground to settle on 😊

If your game is bugged and there is no possible way for you to leave the match without disconnecting - that is, it is impossible for you to either escape or wait to die - then yes, it is acceptable to do so.

Why would you say something stupid like that, the survivors can say they are not here for your experience aswell and you don't see why that's the problem, they see dc'ing as a win for the team any way needed and killers see slugging as any way needed that's why none of its ever gonna change
Slugging is not equivalent to disconnecting from the game. One is a perfectly legal and valid gameplay mechanic. The other is a bannable offence.
Also, as a survivor main myself, I do not see disconnecting as a win in any way. I see it as selfish, childish and unsportsmanlike. Your opinion is yours alone, please don't generalise as if you speak for all of us.

I'm not sure it's fair to say they're only interested in money. Yes, they're a business, so making a profit is of course a priority. They have to be able to pay their employees somehow, and on top of that they naturally want to increase their revenue so that they can do more as a company. But it's very clear to me just from watching them over the years that everyone on the dev team is genuinely passionate about the game and loves what they do. And I believe that the CMs actually care about the community and do listen to the feedback that they receive.
But let's play Devil's Advocate for a minute. Even if we accept the premise that the devs are only interested in making money and nothing else, it still wouldn't make sense for them to be deliberately releasing subpar content or ignoring the game's health. It's in their best long-term interests as a business to make the game as good as they possibly can in order to increase playerbase expansion and player retention, which leads to more sales and more ongoing revenue. They have literally no incentive whatsoever to intentionally release bad content or neglect the health of the game - which, as you rightfully pointed out, is crucial to the game's long-term success and therefore its financial potential.
We know that the developers are neither stupid nor insane, because if they were, the game would never have become as successful as it is. Thus, the only logical conclusion that can be drawn is that, in spite of appearances, and for whatever reasons they may have, noble or otherwise, the developers are trying their best to make improvements to the game by any means available to them.

Then, if not an FOV slider, would an increase in base FOV be acceptable (say, to 100 degrees)? The survivors who are truly dedicated to stealth would get used to Killers being able to see more.
As for "let's just give the Killer 360 degree vision", I should've clarified that the FOV slider would remain within reason (perhaps 120 degrees at the absolute max, if not less).
I wouldn't have a problem with a base FOV increase mainly for the sake of those who have actual health problems playing with the current setup, as long as stealth gets buffed in other ways to compensate for the change. It's already not the most powerful strategy, I just don't want to see it get devalued even further.

Theoretically. The mods do exist and are relatively active, but they're also very busy so they can't always get to every post straight away. The best thing to do if people are derailing the thread is to either ignore them or try to steer them back on topic, depending on the conversation and how they're behaving.
You can also report their comment if they are derailing threads consistently or deliberately, or being rude to other members. This usually alerts the mods to a potential problem much more effectively than tagging them.
However, you should read up on the Forum Rules (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/87004/forum-rules#latest) and make sure that a comment is in violation of them before reporting it. Abuse or unnecessary overuse of the report system makes more work for the mods, and can lead to a warning or further disciplinary action if done in excess.
You will find people on here willing to have a productive and reasonable discussion, but you'll also find a lot like the ones you described. Try to ignore them, report them if they're getting out of hand, and just continue the discussion as normal with those commenters who are serious about having an actual conversation.

when the last gen has been completed, the usual exit gate noise will play, the switches will be highlighted and shown to you and now, assitionally to that, both gates will have a loud "skillcheck failed" explosion.
the worst thing is, its not even on the switch, its literally behind it somewhere between the pillars, so i always get distracted by it and think someone is there, trying to open the gate... ive dropped chases for that -.-
That's... very odd. And very unncessary, by the sounds of it. Those explosions are already overused as it is, in my opinion. It makes things unnecessarily difficult for new players.
My brother is trying to learn killer at the moment, and I've been watching so I can give him some tips while he plays. I'm constantly having to tell him "that was an unhook" or "that was a skill check fail" or "that was a vault" or "that was someone stepping in a trap" etc. because he doesn't have the game knowledge yet to be able to easily tell the difference, and the ambiguity affects the decisions he makes and how he plays.
Something like this is going to make it even more needlessly difficult not only for veteran players but also for people like him who are trying to learn the game.

as a killer, when the gates power up now there is a noise explosion behind the gate as if someone fastvaulted something / failed a skillcheck.
its distracting to say the least.
Like... when the last generator is completed, or when the gate is opened?

Well that will take ages then, especially if they only revisit a realm every four patches.
Probably 😕 It's always possible that they will focus more heavily on map reworks in the future, but we won't know until next year's roadmap is released.

I haven't played enough since the update to have experienced this. Can someone enlighten me? Is this a survivor thing or a killer thing?

Ah I see, that's a bummer. Well, see what Support can do for you in that case. Hoping for the best 🤞

The categories got moved around a bit. It's now under Around the Campfire > Discussions > Lore.

Can we start a charity with the money raised that gives brain transplants to survivors that do this as theirs obviously doesn't function appropriately.
Don't worry, that's one of our stretch goals 👍️
-
I don't mind the exclusives staying that way, but neither do I really have a problem with them being available in the Store. That's what they did with the Lunar New Year cosmetics, after all.
Anyway, even though I'm pretty neutral on the idea, it was presented so kindly and reasonably and politely that I just had to upvote it regardless 😊 We can always use more of that kind of energy around here!
-
Yeah, didn't you get the memo?
Don't worry, it's not too late to take part! You too can make a difference.
We'll be selling badges, pens, T-shirts, wristbands and more at the campfire from 10 to 4 to raise money to support stupid survivors everywhere.
-
I think additional playtesting would be great, but I don't think they should intentionally "delay" features beyond their advertised release because (a) it would breed dissatisfaction within the community and (b) they only have so much time to do everything they want to accomplish, so delaying one thing in order to spend more time on it will in turn delay another project that they would otherwise have been doing in that time, and the whole thing starts to snowball.
Instead, I would be happy if the roadmap were just a bit more spaced out. For example, having three chapter releases every year, instead of four, released every four months instead of three. This would hopefully mean more time spent in development and thus a better and more polished final product, with possibly less follow-up bug fixes and balance adjustments needed.
Of course, money has to enter into it somehow. It's possible that the current roadmap is designed the way it is because that's what suits their business model. I imagine that a lot of BHVR's income comes from DLC sales, so pushing out DLCs more regularly makes sense. On the other hand, one could argue that better DLCs, even if they're less frequent, would encourage more people to buy them and thus make up the difference financially. I'm not an economist, nor do I have access to BHVR's financial data, so I can't really say for sure which solution would be better for the company and the game overall.
-
The game does have tutorials, but I understand what you mean. Bots would be cool to have, but I also feel like they would be a huge amount of work that could be better spent on improving the health of the main game.
At the very least, what I would really like is to be able to enter a custom game on your own as either survivor or killer. Hopefully something like this wouldn't be too much work to implement, and it would at least allow people to explore maps, learn tiles, and experiment to some extent with builds or killer powers.

Got it, I admittedly didn’t see the patch notes until the bug was on it.
In that case I gotta question the QA...speaking from someone who does software dev, our QA department are so nit picky it really gets on my nerves, but they do great work and find things comparable to this (except not game related) in no time at all...
Sometimes I wonder about that too, to be honest. Many of the bugs which come up in the PTB, I feel, are the kind of thing that would be picked up within a few hours of thorough bug testing. Perhaps they run the development to such a tight schedule that they don't have time to do a lot of QA, and that's what the PTB is for.
But I don't work for BHVR, nor am I privvy to what goes on at the studio every day, so I want to be careful about making too many assumptions about what they are or are not prioritising in their development process.
-

I'm really hoping they'll be taking a look at more than just one map to be honest.

Do you think they should have taken a bit more time and care and done a better job with him on console?
Ideally, yes. I think it would be a good idea and would help with player retention if patches were as thoroughly tested on consoles prior to release as on PC. I do believe that the devs do their best in this regard, but they seem to often fall short as many console players feel consistently frustrated with issues that plague their platform which PC users don't have to face.
However, it's also likely that had the devs delayed the patch in order to balance for consoles, many people would have been very upset, in the same way that there were widespread complaints when the devs delayed the recent Tome I Level III challenge updates in order to test them more thoroughly before release. Or how unhappy everyone was when the release of the Archives was delayed by several weeks.
The Oni's "flick" was also never an intended feature - it's listed under "Known Issues" in the patch notes, so it should be fixed soon, and that will help to close the gap between PC and console when it comes to his abilities as a killer.
-
@Adelstein said:
Unfortunately I've already looked into that and it doesn't seem possible, maybe someone smarter could find a way to cimrcumvent it, but from what I've researched, using a VPN for your console is already pretty complicated, but it also only really allows you to bypass region locks for apps like Netflix and such, not the store.
What if you did it through a browser (assuming you have access to a computer)? You should be able to log into your PlayStation account on the PlayStation Store website, and buy auric cell packs from there. VPNs are fairly easy to use on computers, and as far as I'm aware they usually allow you to circumvent region locks on websites including things like online stores.

@Rex_Huin said:
I am so confused....is he good on console or not?.....
He's not as good on console as he is on PC due to hardware limitations.
He's also far from completely useless on console, as many console players who've managed to do well with him in spite of not being able to "flick" easily can attest.
-
@LordRegal said:
I agree - banning for it isn’t practical.
Then again, releasing a known bug this bad is also not practical, and we don’t have an eta on when it’ll be fixed so it feels like kind of a moot point anyway.
To be fair, I don't think the bug was known on release. There was only one "Known Issue" on the list when the Patch Notes came out, and that was the Russian localisation one. The rest have been added since then, presumably based on player feedback and additional internal testing.
Still, it's pretty gamebreaking, so I expect/hope that they'll be working to fix it ASAP.

@assertiveness2 said:
how do you pull out the cable if you are connected to wifi?
You can unplug the router. Or, in a more figurative sense, turning off the wifi by putting your computer into aeroplane mode or something still counts as "pulling the cable".
-
@Adelstein said:
Hopefully yeah, I'll see how it develops once I submit my ticket, but it's more the fault of the PSN's structure than the devs really, so I can't fault them for that. If it were just possible to buy cells from the US store instead of having it blocked off, this wouldn't have been a problem.
That is pretty annoying that it's region-locked. Do you think it would be possible to buy cells from the US Store using a VPN?
-
@xEa said:
Just report them, nothing else you can do. Eventually they will get banned for using the perk.
You are joking, right?
-
@Adelstein said:
Welp, I ended up buying a 5€ Auric Cell pack from the EU store, and as expected, I didn't get the Auric Cells once I booted up the game, no message acknowledging there was an error either, so I guess it just didn't get recognized at all.
This means there's no way for me, or anyone in my situation, to be able to buy Auric Cells for their game, unless you can find some way to circumvent being able to buy something from a different region's store while still on your account.
A shame but heh. I guess I'll have to contact the support team and see if there's some work around, but at least people in the future will know not to follow the same mistake if they come across this thread.
I'm grateful to everyone that took the time to help out with my issue, take care and have a nice one.
If you bought cells from the Store and didn't get them ingame, I can't make any guarantees but it's possible that the Support team may even be able to refund your purchase, or grant you the cells manually. It doesn't seem fair that you should pay the money and not get the item you paid for like that.
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work 🙁

Unless I missed something huge, the devs never added a gamemode like that. It's a bug, and one that people can be banned for abusing if I'm not mistaken. So it doesn't need a nerf so much as a fix, because it shouldn't be happening in the first place.
-
@ThisGuuy83 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/889587#Comment_889587
Actually not being able to flick and club someone is one of the BIGGEST issues, next to the frame drop. It's one thing to nerf him, but not being able to utilize his power attack because of bs game mechanics?Have you tried oni on ps4? And no, that wasn't in the patch notes. If I knew this was the killer I was getting, I wouldn't have wasted my time or $.
The flick wasn't even supposed to be there in the first place, so it will probably get removed at some point. And as I mentioned, they're working on improving sensitivity for console players as we speak.
I do understand the frustration. It sucks. Common sense might have told you that controller sensitivity would be an issue with the flick, but what's done is done. All I can say by way of reassurance at this point is it's not actually the Oni that's broken, it's a technical issue like I said, and something that's already in the process of being resolved.
-
@Zixology said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/889310#Comment_889310
Patch notes didn't say anything about massive frame drops when using his power. Nor did they say anything about the lack of sensitivity bar making him unusable with a controller.
No, but those aren't issues with his design, those are technical problems which I expect will be fixed in the near future. In fact, the devs have specifically said that they're working on improving sensitivity on console.
OP appears to be complaining about the changes to Oni from the PTB, not bugs in the patch, and the changes in question were clearly listed in the patch notes.

@ThisGuuy83 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/889310#Comment_889310
Yeah that's exactly what I did. I'm sure everyone did that when they bought the oni. We all went and read the special patch notes. My dumb fault right?
Well, yes. It was your decision to make that purchase. You can't reasonably blame anyone else for the fact that you didn't make an educated decision when the information necessary was right there for anyone to access.
-
I kind of love it, but I've always been terrible at being chased anyway so atmosphere tends to be a bigger factor for me 🤷
-
The problem isn't your internet connection, it's a matter of the players in your region, and not really something the devs can "fix", at least not directly.
Because DBD is a 4v1 game, for ideal matchmaking, the amount of people queuing for survivor should be four times as many as those queuing for killer. It sounds like in your region, more than 20% of people want to play killer, which means the ratio of killers to survivors is off and so killers get longer queues. It varies according to platform because the ratios might be slightly different for PC players in your area compared to console.
The only thing the devs can really do to fix that is make killer less desirable to play, which I'm sure you'll agree is not a great idea.
What I would recommend you do is do something else while waiting in the queue. Keep the game open and watch a movie or a TV show, play something on your phone, scroll through your social media app of choice, whatever you do in your downtime. Find something fun to do while you wait, and queuing for games will seem like much less of a chore.
-
@AkiTheKitten said:
What did you expect? They really don't care for console. Like, we don't even get cosmetics, not likely they'll balance for console
Bit off topic, but which cosmetics did console not receive?
-
The way the matchmaking system works is that usually, it won't match you with players more than six ranks above or below you, but it ignores this limit for players at ranks 17-20 because there aren't enough players at those ranks to get good queue times, and the game assumes that you would rather have a badly matched game than no game at all.
As annoying as it is to hear it, it does get better once you get higher in rank. If it helps at all to think of it this way, learning to play against people who are far superior to you in skill level will help you to improve your own skills much faster.
-
Is it possible that he's just not the kind of killer that you can necessarily pick up and be brilliant at straight away?
He's been out less than 24 hours, after all. Most people don't really know what they're doing with him yet. It's more likely that the problem is with how you're playing him rather than with the design of the killer.
I played about 10 games as survivor against the Oni today at red/purple ranks. Almost all of them were 4Ks - I personally only escaped twice, and one was through the hatch out of sheer blind luck. The second time, I was the only one who escaped.
It's possible that I'm just bad at surviving against the Oni, as were all my teammates, but he doesn't seem anywhere near underpowered to me. My first impression is that he's a solid A-tier, at the very least.
-
None have been mentioned in recent patch notes.
He has quite a few, and cycles through them randomly depending on the situation, so it's likely you just haven't come across that particular one before! 😊
-
The patch notes came out before the DLC did. I understand you're disappointed, but it's not the fault of the devs if you didn't read up on the changes to Oni before buying him.
-
I'll support the petition.
A feature which was a net good and a valuable QOL improvement for the majority of players shouldn't be removed due to a few bad eggs misusing it.
People also dodge lobbies based on their teammates' names, which characters they're playing, and what they're wearing, so by that same logic we should just shroud the survivors in mist so no one has any information at all about the other players.
-

So its stay and get screwed or its leave and get screwed?
More like see it through even if you're not enjoying yourself because it's the decent thing to do, or leave and get rightfully punished for being selfish and unsportsmanlike.
In the case of times where it's okay to disconnect (which are pretty much limited to real life emergencies, or times when you have literally no other choice but to disconnect, which does not include losing or being slugged) it's more a case of stay and get screwed, or leave and incur nothing more serious than a short time penalty because you're a decent person who doesn't abuse the system and only leaves a game under the aforementioned circumstances.
