I believe Scott hinted in a stream that he's been invited to the behaviour headquarters and how he knew what the Deathslinger's name was 5 months ago.

He said that second part, but it didn't come across like he was implying he'd been told, or that he'd been invited to headquarters. The only time he mentioned headquarters, as I recall, was saying that the only special treatment Fog Whisperers get is that some of them get invited to headquarters (which he presumably knows because his fiancee is a Fog Whisperer, not because he's one himself).

Not that what he said couldn't be true, I just think if we're going to make evidence-based guesses we should make sure that evidence is accurate.

  • Out of curiosity, what makes you think Scott is "close to and loved by the devs"? I like the guy, but he's not a Fog Whisperer or anything - unless there are multiple YouTubers who have claimed the next chapter isn't Candyman and I've managed to miss the others.

Yeah, completely agree, levelling up was awful back then. It’d just be nice for some sort of exclusive cosmetic, but I remember the devs said that they weren’t going to be doing anymore of those. However, the Dbd mobile team brought in those cool winter blue cosmetics for beta testers which are exclusive, so you never know.

I wouldn't get my hopes up too high - different team, different rules and all that.

Nonono, I don't play survivor, like, unless I have to for a ritual or something. Check my old posts. I don't think he's OP at all is the strange part, I'm just wondering why people hate him so much.

As with many killers that are popularly hated, the short answer is they don't like having to change their playstyle. They think he's OP because their old tricks don't work on him, and they don't know how to come up with new ones. Everyone has killers that they prefer playing against over others, but killing yourself right away instead of trying to learn how to counter them doesn't do anyone any favours.

  • Given that people had been doing it with Huntress for a long time, I'd be very surprised if they didn't at least consider that people would do the same with a killer like Deathslinger. He does have add-ons that activate while aiming down sights, but none that have anything to do with accuracy. Given that quickscoping is the best way to play Deathslinger, crosshair or no, I think it's more likely that either those add-ons were designed with newer players in mind, or that the developers didn't think much about the quickscoping thing and expected aiming to be a bigger part of his playstyle than it is. But of course that's just my guess, none of us really know for sure.

  • I talked to a dev about this the other day, they were almost certain that it doesn't do anything. I think it would be cool if at some point DBD did introduce a kind of honour system, though, where people who got a lot of props could get rewarded. It would help to encourage positive behaviour, I imagine.

  • It's one of those "use at your own risk" things. The developers won't ban you for it, but if EAC decides to for some reason, BHVR can't do anything about that.

  • The two games are run by different teams and designed very differently. It's not the same thing as cross-progression between PC and PS4, for example. Plus, I can see that being a balance problem with how differently the game's economy works in mobile.

  • If you reported them after the game, you can submit any video evidence you have to Support via a ticket at this link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

You'll need the other players' Gamertags, as well as your own, and your Player Cloud ID (which you can find at the bottom of the options menu in-game). I'd recommend submitting a separate ticket for each reported player.

  • It's the same for me, probably a forum bug.

  • Because it made sense when they were first introduced, and they had more worthwhile things to do than go through and change all the rarities after they released them universally. Rather a blunt answer, but that's the gist of it. There are only so many hours in a day, so the things that the devs choose to spend their time on are the things they believe will have the most value for players. As improving the overall experience goes, changing cosmetic rarities is fairly trivial, especially compared to the time it would take to do.

  • My plan is to do the challenge using Tombstone Myers. Once I kill the first person, the other three will be falling over themselves trying to hide in lockers.

  • Yes, according to the perk description, locker stuns do activate it. As for escaping your grasp, it depends how they do it - if they wiggle out or get saved with a flashlight, it won't activate Nemesis, but if they use Decisive Strike it will (not because DS counts as a stun for Nemesis' purposes, but because the Oblivious effect activates whenever a survivor becomes your obsession, which is already an effect of DS).

Also, to answer your third question, Oblivious just means that they can't hear your terror radius. They will still be able to see the red stain.

Thanks for that, i dont play jake or usw iron will i just wantes to know cause i wanna use the no mither, resiliance, this is not happening combo. Thanks for everything tho

Iron Will is a perfectly okay perk to use in that build. It just steps on No Mither's toes a bit, that's all!

  • Iron Will at tier 3 removes grunts of pain completely (reduces them by 100%), rendering that aspect of No Mither useless in combination.

But yes, if you only have tier 1 (50%) or 2 (75%) of Iron Will, using it with No Mither will also reduce grunts of pain to 0%.

These comments are from a Red rank perspective:

Camping is a terrible strategy as a killer. You will actually derank if the survivors catch on to it. They can do all 5 gens and leave. You will lose points for the ranking emblems because standing under a hooked survivor drastically reduces your chance to PIP.

Slugging is also a terrible strategy, since you don't get any hooks (4 at most) and you will at best get a safety pip, sometimes even de-ranking.

Tunneling is the only actual legit strategy that works, survivors hate it but it's effective. Eliminating one survivor to make it a 1v3 is actually a really good and effective strategy to use. So I 100% encourage that. There are perks to help alleviate that kind of pressure

Camping and slugging can be good strategies, if they're used as strategies and not just pursued mindlessly. Camping works against super altruistic survivors who swarm hooks. Slugging works against aggressive survivors who put themselves in harm's way trying to bodyblock or get flashlight saves. Neither works if the surivors don't play into it, but then, there is no strategy that works 100% of the time. The key is circumstance, and how you adapt your playstyle to effectively counter your opponents.

@Fibijean Did you already post results from your thesis? I just found out about the bookmark function and would do that with your post as well ^^

My Honours project? No, I'm only halfway through it. I may share it on the forums when I'm done for anyone who's interested in that kind of thing, assuming that (a) the content isn't too inflammatory, and (b) I can find a way to do so without compromising my privacy, since I'd rather not make my real identity public on the forums (there are some scary people out there).

If you mean the Rift survey, the answer is still no unfortunately, although I promise I'm still working on it. It was just a lot more work than expected, and progress has been halted for the last couple of months on account of said Honours project 😅

Ok, I see. Thanks for clarifying! Ah, I'm glad to hear it! I did multiple testruns in advance and sometimes caught myself thinking about some questions for the millionth time ;)

Don't worry, I do that all the time! Overthinking everything is one of my special talents 😋

Wow, it would be interesting to hear more about that! With designer you mean game designer?

Thank you very much! I appreciate you taking the time.

It was a very interesting survey, I had fun doing it 😊 And no, I'm actually a graphic designer, but design practice does overlap a lot between disciplines, because the process and the way of thinking is very similar in many of ways.

  • I'd love to help! I'm actually doing a research project myself on social dynamics in Dead by Daylight at the moment - though I'm a designer, not a psychologist - so I absolutely get the fascination from an academic standpoint. Best of luck with your thesis!

  • You mean like local multiplayer? It could be pretty cool, although they would have to think about how it would work with SWF. People think voice comms is bad, just wait until all the survivors can literally see everything that's happening on one another's screens.

  • For what it's worth, reducing the grind has been confirmed to be "On The List".

  • Ah, I wouldn't know about mobile. It's still possible that someone might have an answer, but because DBD Mobile is a separate game run by an entirely different development team, it's not officially supported on these forums. The best place to go with questions about the Mobile game would be the Support service on their website (https://dbdmobile.helpshift.com/a/dead-by-daylight-mobile/?p=all) or their official Discord (discord.gg/dbdmobile).

  • It doesn't actually have any effect, but I like to do it anyway in case they implement some kind of honour system in the future.

  • This is already an option in-game - you can create a game with friends by choosing the "Custom Game" option from the main menu.

  • There is, just click on the chat icon in the post-game screen to hide the chat box. It should stay that way between games (although some people have reported bugs to the contrary).

you don’t acknowledge the importance of defending yourself though. Sure as a killer you might get mad at the use of flashlights. But when there are pallets every mile or so, dead ends and bad loops, you’ll be wishing you had more than once chance every match playing survivor. It grows tiresome coming into games and getting Mori’d or tunneled or camped on because I got caught once giving me almost no playtime. It’s the

I understand why people use them, and as I said, I'm totally fine with that. They're just not for me, simply because they don't really suit my playstyle.

  • You mean the "Give Props" button? As far as I'm aware, it does absolutely nothing. It was probably added with plans of implementing some kind of honour system further down the track, but that hasn't happened yet. I still like to use it for people I think deserve it, though, just in case it becomes relevant in the future.

And no, there is no way for players to see how many "props" (or "recommendations") they or anyone else has received.

  • @batmanscar said:

so you can use pop on an already damaged gen ?

No, Pop actually doesn't work very well with Surge, since you can't use it on a generator which is already regressing. They compensate for each other's weaknesses to some extent, but they also step on each other's toes a lot more.

  • Best thing to do is visit the bug report forum if you want it to get fixed ASAP. Search for your issue first to see if anyone else has already made a post about it - if they have, you can just upvote theirs and maybe add a comment, and if not you can make a bug report of your own. If you do file a report, make sure you follow the pinned template so that you give the devs enough information to go on when troubleshooting the issue.

Im telling you guys with the amount of ppl this will bring back, any matchmaking issues it might create, they will be balanced out. Why cant you see it? And worse case scenario just reverse it back.

Let's say such a change was introduced, and these people did all come back to the game. If they left in the first place for such a petty reason as "the game has a killer in it that I don't like", they can't have been terribly invested to begin with. If they did come back, how long before the developers introduce another feature they don't like and they quit on account of that?

It's a never-ending cycle of dissatisfaction. The developers make a lot of mistakes, but they know better (I hope) than to fall down that rabbit hole. Caving to anything and everything that players demand just because they threaten to quit if you don't is one of the best and fastest ways to ruin your game.

Im new to tge forums and since it was brought up im curious what trusted means

The forum has two overlapping programs that were created by the community team as a way of recognising standout community members: Forum User of the Month and the Trusted program. The criteria for being selected for either one are fairly similar - be helpful, be active, be kind and civil, don't lose your cool. FUotM gives you a red profile picture, and all Trusted members were chosen as FUotM at some point in the past, which is why we all have the red profile picture, but not all FUotM become Trusted.

There's barely any information out there about the FUotM - what I just gave is about the extent of it - but if you want to learn more about the Trusted program, you can find more information in this post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/89809/pilot-the-trusted-members

  • He hasn't played any DBD in at least four months, I assumed he'd given up.

  • Sorry that happened to you guys, I can understand how demoralising that must be. You're not the first to have claimed to have been given a disproportionate penalty for a single disconnection, and given the game's history I find it more plausible that the DC system has a bug in it somewhere than that you and all those other people are liars.

The best I can advise is to report it as a bug here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

I can't promise they'll do anything about it in the immediate future, but if your wife wants to be able to play normally again at some stage, that's the best way to bring the devs' attention to it so it can get fixed.

  • Usually, if people are recommending Monitor and Abuse, it's for the smaller terror radius outside a chase, rather than the expanded terror radius during a chase, because it helps you sneak up on people. Skill checks are not more frequent within your terror radius, unless you're also using Unnerving Presence. The only killer on whom you would really want a larger terror radius is Doctor, but since Doctor's Static Blast (which is effective within his terror radius) is generally best used outside a chase, Distressing is a far better pick than M&A for him if that's the effect you're aiming for.

If you want to try learning different killers, that can be a good idea, but if you'd rather not, you don't have to play them to level them. You can just play the killers you do enjoy and spend the bloodpoints you earn on other killers to unlock their teachable perks.

Once you unlock a teachable perk, it's always available to all of your killers. Prestiging a killer will not lock their teachable perks, but you will lose any other perks, offerings or add-ons that you've unlocked on that particular killer. Prestige is basically like starting again from level 1, with three key differences: (a) you now have their teachable perks unlocked, (b) you have a bloody cosmetic piece, and (c) you have a slightly higher chance of finding rare perks, offerings and add-ons in that killer's bloodweb.

Michael can only stalk each survivor a limited amount. If a survivor shows as bright red when you try to stalk them, and your stalking metre doesn't go up, that means that you have already gained as much power as you can from that survivor in this match. If the survivor didn't have a coloured aura at all, you were probably either too far away or too much of the survivor's body was concealed for you to be able to stalk them.

  • As @Liannet correctly pointed out, according to the official rules, both you and the survivor are eligible for a ban in that situation.

  • You're quite correct, for someone to be banned for cheating there does need to be video proof. If you reported them in-game already, the next step is to send a ticket to Support with your video evidence attached, which you can do at this link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

You will need both your own and the offending player's Steam ID64 or Gamertag (depending on which platform you're on), as well as your own Player Cloud ID, which you can find at the bottom of the Options menu in-game.

If your video is too big to attach to the ticket, you can upload it to YouTube as unlisted and copy the link into the description box of the ticket instead.

They'd be stupid to not add cross-progression with the implementation of cross-platform; if anything it could be progression implemented without platform.

Though it is worth noting that neither has actually been officially confirmed yet.

Is it official that hit detection will be server sided or just rumors?

It's official, they announced it in the last stream. Here are the relevant sections from the full summary post I made on the stream explaining it:

Any news on fixing hitboxes or hits through windows?

The short answer is yes. They are planning to make a number of fixes related to hit registration in order to make hits feel more fair. One change which is planned to be implemented “very soon” is introducing server-side hit validation. What this means is that every time the killer hits a survivor, the server will check whether the hit makes sense according to the information that it (the server) has available (such as the survivor’s relative position, for example). The goal is that such a change will make current issues like being hit through windows, through walls, or from a long way away a lot more fair than they are now. If the server decides that the hit was not valid, the survivor will not take damage and the game will continue as normal.

(Having said that, it should be noted that being able to hit survivors through windows in general is intended design; hitting survivors who are already far away on the other side of a vault, however, is not.)

    ...

Since the introduction of the dedicated servers, survivor ping in general has been lowered significantly. Killer ping obviously has not, given that they had a ping of 0 before, but their ping is still not unusually high.

The main problem here is that killers with high ping do have a number of unfair advantages compared to killers playing on lower ping, and the developers do have plans to rectify this issue – for example, the introduction of server-side, rather than killer-side, hit validation as discussed earlier. One of the functions that feature will have is that it will “reject” a hit if the information it receives from the killer is too far (maybe five seconds, for example) outdated.

  • I've been flat-out with uni work, so I'm only on around tier 18-19. Not quite behind, but behind where I wanted to be by this point. (I didn't want to get stuck grinding out 10 tiers' worth of XP after finishing all the challenges again, so I calculated how many tiers I would need to earn every day through XP alone in order to avoid that). I'm planning to do some catching up once I go on break in a few weeks.

  • If they are including perk changes in the patch, they will announce it closer to the time, but they haven't given any dates for when perks are getting updated. They do listen to player feedback, but they never make changes on a majority-vote basis, it's always their own decision.

They were actually asked on the last Q&A stream whether they were still planning on updating underused perks, and this was their answer (as recorded in the summary I did of the entire stream):

The answer is yes, they are still planning on making updates to weak or underused perks. Every perk in the game is always under scrutiny and open to being changed if the developers feel that it is “not good enough”. They do have a list of specific perks they want to change, in [priority] order, but the order shifts as new issues and information arise.

As for Surge, as explained above, Surge only affects generators which are not already regressing.

  • It's a British word. My-ther is the correct pronunciation.

People who pronounce it Mi-ther (like myself, on occasion) do so because that's how they read it and maybe because that's how they're used to pronouncing it, not because it's right.

  • Isn't the PS5 supposed to be backwards compatible with most if not all PS4 games? If DBD is one of those games, and you use the same PSN account (which is what your DBD player data is linked to), I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to keep your progress.

Deathslinger was by far the most frustrating. Id go through having to learn nurse all over again than have to go through that again. I think it was mostly cause his perks are so bad that it was almost like have none

Yeah, I have gotten some use out of them in most games I've played as him, but nowhere near enough to make a significant impact on the outcome of the match. That being said, I had a much easier time with Huntress, and her perks are arguably even worse.

I got pretty lucky on deathslinger. I'm also not he best at aiming with him but I luckily got a group of potatoes which made life easy. I think I hit maybe 2 or 3 shots in the match but still got merciless by fake shooting and them making very questionable plays. Best of luck on getting your achievements. ^_^

Potatoes is how I've been getting most of my Adepts, to be honest! I just haven't come across any potatoey enough for my Deathslinger yet 😕

The exploit question. I threw some different phrases into Google/YT and pretty sure they were asking me to "hooktech". Definitely not my thing whether exploit or gameplay.

To the thing about how you tunnel or camp when they're toxic. I've definitely been tempted but manged to restrain myself. I'm just... That guy ya know? I try to always be friendly and helpful, civil and non-toxic. It's just me. But for *real* I'm tempted sometimes man. I've run into both really chill friendly players and quite the opposite which of course is to be expected in any community. But some of the more toxic folks it has definitely crossed my mind like no matter what happens you won't get to leave here lol.

I feel the play for fun thing too. I believe in live and let live, to each their own.

So again, appreciate the civil dialogue here. And thanks for the info/discussion.

Yeah, hook tech is an exploit - I'm not sure you can get banned for it, but it certainly wasn't intended by the developers. I'm surprised though, because I was pretty sure it got patched out recently. I wasn't sure if you were talking about bodyblocking, which is a perfectly legitimate strategy that the killer can play around, similar to things like looping or camping.
