What brand/model do you have? I know very little about this sort of thing, but I think most have official software that you can use to adjust settings like that. For example, I have an AMD Radeon CPU, so I use the AMD Radeon Settings app to underclock it while I'm playing games like DBD.

Yeah, I had noticed, and it's incredibly annoying at best. The stubbornness it takes to reach that level of ignorance is astounding

Yeah, that's a good tactic. At this rate I'll become that stupid 'I pretend I do not see it' meme that I see all over discords.
Personally, I really want it to be Candyman. He's a classic where I come from, my step-dad and I are religiously waiting for the day it's released (his birthday), but Jason is top-tier slasher horror, he's the last of the Big Three that DBD needs and it's a very hard decision, though for me it boils down to the fact that Jason already had his own game where his powers would be less limited and... Yeah, I'm not gonna debate with myself, but I just don't see how a game with limited powers can live up to, well, Jason. They got Freddy and Michael well enough because all they know is 'stabby mcstab', but Jason... Just did more than that.
I'm not a big horror buff myself, and I haven't played F13, so I wouldn't really know, but I do think completing the 'Big 3' is a worthwhile goal for DBD. They've done some good stuff with killer powers in the past, so I'd hope they'd be able to do any new ones justice. I've heard the devs saying some very promising things about the new chapter, so hopefully it will be awesome either way π

I just don't understand. Why moan about something so trivial? It's a perk that elevates the chances of an escape or a 4k or whatever, but that doesn't mean it's something to ######### about..? Talking about "toxic build" Sorry bud I just can't get over how you're bad at the game so you're finding anything you can to place the blame on. It's hilariously annoying.
As for your game predicts, cool! They're the only two that make any actual sense to me, a lot of the others have been huuuge reaches honestly... Though, the argue of Candyman not being iconic is stupid. Iconic differs in different areas of the world. Y'all might not have heard of say something like Train to Busan, but that's pretty famous in Korea, right?
Well, like I said, blaming other people is the easiest thing to do and it makes people feel better about themselves and their loss. Often trying to explain what they did wrong or why they shouldn't complain doesn't help and just makes them feel worse, so it's generally best to ignore it and let them vent, I find.
I understand what you mean about Candyman, though a lot of people are going to be very disappointed if it is him because while he may be a classic in some circles, he's not considered iconic universally. The way they've talked about it makes me think Jason is really the only character big enough to live up to the hype, but then there are all the bee puns, so I'm torn. I think either it's Candyman and people are going to be disappointed, or it's Jason and all the Candyman hints were misdirects. Guess we'll find out soon π
-
That's gamers in general, sadly - it's by no means limited to DBD. It's much easier to blame the game or the other players when you do badly than to self-analyse and figure out what you could do to improve. People don't like to admit, even to themselves, that they're not as good as they think they are.
For the record, I'm with you on the chapter predictions π

I think they addressed this in the last dev stream. It was annoying because what's her name shrugged her shoulders with a stupid look on her face as if to convey the idea that's there nothing to be done about it. That's true, but I don't think the devs should be so casual about a broad tendency toward lame behavior in the player base that derives from the central dynamic of the game. It's like conceding that the game isn't designed for players to have fun, which ignores the fact that player behavior is shaped almost entirely by the rules and limits of the game design. On the bright side, one of the dudes at least said they're aware of the problem and its scope and they find it annoying too, so they might try to figure out how to change up the allocation of points so as to further discourage camping and tunneling. I hope they follow through with that. Please correct me if I'm misstating the devs' intentions as expressed in the live stream.
Incidentally I used to think that rank doesn't matter at all, but I have found that generally speaking red rank killers are far less likely to camp and tunnel. I now aspire to get to red ranks and stay there just because overall the quality of the gameplay is vastly better. I get my butt whooped most of the time because I'm definitely a potato, but it's actually a lot of fun to be chased and beaten by players who are better than you.
I don't think that's what Queen's shrug was meant to indicate. They were talking about unfun tactics and player agency, and she was saying that as long as players aren't breaking the TOS, they can employ any strategy they like - some strategies, like camping, are just not very rewarding. The shrug was her way of saying, "if you want to camp, go for your life, but be aware that it might not work out well for you". She wasn't saying that there was nothing to be done about it or that they wouldn't be doing anything to disincentivise it further or make it less punishing for the hooked survivor, just that they weren't going to remove it from the game altogether or ban people for doing it.
-
"it's a good strategy according to the developers"
If anyone did say that, it would be a serious misquote, because the developers said literally the opposite of that in the most recent stream. What they said was that facecamping is not a lucrative strategy as long as survivors don't feed it, and that's the way it's meant to be, but they also said that they know it isn't fun for the player on the hook and they've been talking about ways to rebalance facecamping as a mechanic with that in mind.
So there's no need to go out of your way to make other players' lives miserable just to send a message to the developers, since they're already aware of the issues you're talking about.

You need to work your way up to the different bosses, there's a fairly linear progression to follow. Eye of Cthulu and King Slime are the easiest, then after the Eye you want to do Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulu, depending on whether your world is Crimson or Corruption. Queen Bee I think is next difficulty-wise, although you don't have to do her it can be a good idea for things like the Bee Gun. Regardless of whether you choose to fight her or not, I would suggest doing some exploring in the underground Jungle and getting some honey, because you can use it for regeneration during the Skeletron fight.
With regards to Skeletron specifically:
- You want to have maxed out your health (20 hearts), especially if you're playing on Expert Mode (which I would recommend, since bosses drop unique loot in Expert Mode), and probably your mana too if you're using any kind of magic weapon.
- Then you'll want to build an arena to fight him in using long rows of wooden platforms above the dungeon entrance, so that you can jump around and circle him while you're fighting. You can also include a pool of honey and/or a house for the Nurse as part of the arena, for quick heals during the fight.
- You'll also want to have mobility items - Hermes/Flurry/Sailfish/Dunerider Boots at a minimum (all do pretty much the same thing), but Rocket Boots will be very useful if you happen to have found the Goblin Tinkerer by that stage. A Cloud in a Bottle will also probably help.
- Make sure you summon him at nightfall (7:30pm) to allow maximum time to fight him.
- During the fight, if you are playing on Expert Mode, aim to take out his hands first, as his head is far more vulnerable after the hands are gone. After he loses one hand, he gains the ability to shoot skulls at you, so you'll want to eliminate the hands around the same time so that you don't have to deal with the skulls and his remaining hand for too long.
The Gamepedia wiki is a great source of information, and even contains in-depth strategy guides for all the different boss fights. I'd highly recommend using it as a reference tool. https://terraria.gamepedia.com/Terraria_Wiki

A. Logically deducted from points 1 and 3: genrush is not the right reaction against camping. We must not accept and participate in the acceleration of the game (of which the killers complain), but act the opposite, which will also be a legitimate strategy.
I think I agree with you in general, but may I ask what you mean by this part? It sounds like you're saying that survivors shouldn't work on generators as a counter to camping, but maybe it's just confusingly worded. If that is what you're saying, it would be great if you could elaborate on it, since I'm not sure how it follows logically from the two premises you mentioned.
-
Yes, the bloodweb will regenerate infinitely at level 50, so you can unlock all the perks you like just by continuing to progress through level 50 bloodwebs.
As for the benefits of prestige, it depends what you value. It's certainly not the most efficient method if you just want to grind out all the perks, but it provides an additional goal for completionist types and an additional cosmetic option if you're into that. It also slightly increases the chances of getting rarer add-ons and offerings in future bloodwebs on that killer, but the difference is negligible.
-
I mean, you do you, it's not bannable or anything, but since you asked, personally I find it unnecessary and kind of cruel. My philosophy is if you want to give someone hatch, give them hatch, and if you want to hook them, hook them, but don't mess around with their emotions. Take the win and be glad about it, no need to rub salt in the wound.

Yeah , I would love someone from a community team to tell me that's what got this person banned. Because that person saying that they got banned for what they were asking in a different thread doesn't really prove that it's the actual reason. They didn't show the message that told them what they were banned for. For all we know they didn't even get banned and are still playing. A testimony on a forum that has no screenshots and consists of only them saying that they got banned for teaming is not really proof.
So how do I get an answer from a member of the community team? I would ask them if I knew how.
It makes very little rational sense for him to be lying, especially since he went to the effort of making a goodbye video to post on YouTube and everything, but I suppose that's beside the point. If you would like clarification around the game's rules, you can tag someone like Mandy or Luzi, but bear in mind that they are very busy and may not be able to respond right away.

Don't see how it's bannable.
The killer is not a friend of the survivor and can use them if he wants. It's not worse than camping and tunneling.
And the survivor can be scummy and give away other survivor's locations if they want. Same as sandbagging. It's an ######### move , but there's no rule saying you can't be an ass to other survivors. It's not worse than unhooking in front of the killer with no BT and no intention to take a protection hit.
And not to mention I've see a big streamer literally point to a locker where a survivor was and that got them killed. They were not banned.
The only "teaming" that can get anyone banned is when the killer is a friend of the survivor. Or if the killer kills all the survivors while completely ignoring that one survivor multiple times for the whole game, or that survivor leads them to others all the time and the killer kills them all but doesn't touch this one survivor. If it happens only in the end when there are only 2 left then it would be really weird to ban that but not ban people who point at lockers on purpose and the killer actually checks them and the survivors inside get killed. Again , I've seen a streamer do that multiple times cause he was pissed at them hiding all the time, and he was never banned.
The killer would never get banned for letting one of the last 2 lead them to the last survivor. And the survivor would not be banned for being a jerk. If you got no video to prove me wrong then I think we are done.
It's not actually a debate, that is the rule. Ask a member of the community team if you don't believe me.
If you insist on proof, though, I don't have a video, but I do have someone's testimony: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/146244/my-last-words/

What's the advantage here though?
One still escapes...
The advantage is that you get to find and kill Dwight with no effort on your part. The actions of both Meg and the killer are bannable in that situation.

-
Yeah, but none of the survivors thought to reset pallets until Yui came along. Maybe the killers just aren't very good at thinking outside the box. Or, for a deeper explanation, maybe they're all so brainwashed that it doesn't even occur to them to do anything they haven't been explicitly allowed to by the Entity.

Depends: If your the killer its ok to do(Killers have sole digression on who they target).
If your a survivor on a hook letting themselves be sacrificed to try to give the other survivor the hatch then its ok.
If you DC as a survivor to give another survivor the hatch then its NOT ok.
If you purposely work with the killer to kill your teammates as a survivor so you can have the hatch then its NOT ok.
@Abrahan343 to add to the above for clarity's sake, it's only okay as the killer if you didn't work with the survivor to find and kill their teammate. For example, if you spare Meg and she leads you to Dwight's hiding spot, you kill Dwight and give Meg the hatch, that is not okay because it's working with the opposing team to gain an advantage. However, if you found Dwight on your own, killed him and then found Meg and let her have the hatch, that's totally okay.
-
Decisive Strike is not affected by This is Not Happening. As for Spine Chill, I don't know for certain, but I'm inclined to suspect that being carried by the killer would not count as the killer looking in your direction, so Spine Chill wouldn't even be active in that situation.
-
They only seem rare because there are so many other green rarity things in the game that can appear on bloodwebs. I believe the way the bloodweb works is that there are a certain amount of nodes of each rarity that spawn on a bloodweb of a given level. The more items, add-ons, offerings, etc. in a certain rarity category exist, the less likely you are to get a particular one, and vice versa. That's why Iridescent Heads, for example, are so common compared to other ultra-rare add-ons, because aside from Ebony Moris they're the only ultra-rare that can appear on Huntress' bloodweb.
-
You can always let people know in the pregame that you're bringing a key for the achievement. If people know that you have a key, and the team is doing well enough by the endgame, they'll likely help you look for the hatch when it spawns instead of leaving through the gates.
-
That sounds like Borrowed Time. If someone who has Borrowed Time unhooks another survivor within the killer's terror radius, the unhooked survivor gets the Endurance status effect for 15 seconds. If a killer hits a survivor who has Endurance, that survivor gets the Deep Wound status effect instead of just going down. Deep Wound is basically a health state in between injured and dying, where the survivor is injured but they have to mend themselves before they can heal, and if they don't mend in time they go down.
You can counter Borrowed Time as a killer by hiding your terror radius while the unhook is happening (using Insidious or a stealth killer, for example), by going after the rescuer instead of the rescued survivor, or simply by waiting 15 seconds before you hit the unhooked survivor.
-
No one seems to know what the exact requirement is, but we know that hills tend not to work and anything around one storey or higher definitely does. So the houses on Haddonfield and Springwood, holes in the floor on The Game, Coal Tower, Ironworks, all of those should work reliably for the challenge.
-
There's a lot of conflicting information here, so just to clarify, this is what's been officially said (unless they've released new information in the last month or so that I've missed): most of the cosmetics from previous Rifts will eventually arrive in the Store. We don't yet know what that means, even though a lot of people have assumed that it means charms will remain exclusive and outfits will come to the Store. It hasn't actually been confirmed by the developers which outfits and charms will be available for sale later on, except that the community outfits (Demon Slayer Feng and Mr Puddles) will be available in the Store for shards.
-
Given the very obvious design flaws in most balance proposals, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find myself on board with most of these. Namely, Lightweight, Calm Spirit, Diversion, Object of Obsession, This Is Not Happening, Wake Up, Cruel Limits and Gearhead, I think are all great changes that would improve the game overall.
Boil Over, Second Wind, Small Game, We're Gonna Live Forever, NOED, Monstrous Shrine and Rancor, I'm a little suspicious of. They might be okay changes, or they might be too much, but I would have to see how they work in practice to be sure.
Decisive Strike and No Mither, while I understand where you're coming from, I think the changes you're proposing are based on a misunderstanding of the perks' intended functionality. Similarly for Self-Care - you may not see it very much in your games, but it's actually the most overused survivor perk by miles, comparable to old Ruin in terms of usage rate. It definitely doesn't need buffs to encourage people to use it. Plus, as it currently stands, healing yourself with Self-Care is equally as efficient as allowing a teammate to heal you. Any buff would make it more efficient, which would discourage altruism and might even bump it back up to meta level.
Franklin's Demise I think simply doesn't need a buff - it does what it's meant to do, and it does it well already.
Insidious, I really like the idea in theory, but I'm not sure if it's too strong, so perhaps the numbers could use some tweaking. Again, it's the kind of thing you'd need to test in a live environment to be sure.
-
As a fan, and a survivor main, I disagree that facecamping should be removed. Disincentivised, perhaps, but not eliminated as a strategy altogether. Player agency is important - without it, the game becomes stale and boring really fast.

You won't be banned for anything unless the Support team are given some pretty compelling evidence against you. @Doddle28 who is right then? I think after last update items do NOT disintegrate
I believe @aGoodOldRub is correct, all Franklin's Demise does is remove an item's charges. Since items no longer disappear if they lose all their charges, that means at worst, Franklin's will render items unusable for the rest of the match, but won't actually remove the item from the game.

I'm sure Peanits does know the answer, but he almost certainly won't be allowed to give it because that information is still confidential until they announce it officially. My guess would be that either they are going to postpone the PTB release until after the stream (so 3-4PM EDT) or they'll announce the new chapter during the stream and then the PTB will be the following week. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much point in hyping up the on-stream announcement.
-
Latency is lag. Or, more specifically, latency creates lag. What happened there was simply that either your ping or the killer's was slightly high, so the hit appeared to connect from further away than it should.
They're introducing server-side hit detection in the near future, which hopefully will go a long way towards making situations like this feel more fair.

The fallacy was giving away cells = direct sales lost which isn't the case and its the main point of my post.
For giving the cells away you have to consider the fact that most people don't spend money on micro-transactions and thus most of those cells go to people who WON'T BE PAYING EITHER WAY.
I regret having the 3rd line's paragraph sense it seemed to have muddied the point I was trying to make.
I understand what you're trying to say, and to an extent I agree with it. My point is that I wasn't making any such assumption, I was simply speculating around whether such a monetisation system would actually be financially beneficial for BHVR.

This logical fallacy ultimately falls apart due to needing the assumption that each of those cells actually results in a direct sales lost.
It doesn't and unless its extremely generous will hardly effect sales according to most satistics on these matters.
if its 200 per free track that is 1 "Free" DLC every FIVE Archives however Hypathetically just like how yours is if people get impatient in waiting theyd' might be MORE likely to spend money on cells(Maybe slightly less but still spending) to get enough to get what they'd want from what they they were planning on earning from the cells instead of having to wait the 2-6 months(If one ends instantly to another) to try to finish it.
The 3rd lines paragraph is to show how easily the logical fallacy can be turned into a positive for the devs instead of a negative.
I never said that giving away cells like that couldn't turn more profit further down the line, in fact I explicitly acknowledged that probability. What I did say was that I'm not sure whether BHVR can afford to do that in the short term, but since neither of us understand the full scope of BHVR's financial situation, we can't know for sure. Point being, you've called it a "logical fallacy" twice, but all it was was speculation. There can't be a fallacy if there wasn't a logical argument being made to begin with.

Honestly, I'm completely ok with that. I'm not the type of person to buy abunch of stuff from the store using auric cells, instead opting to use event cosmetics or cosmetics purchasable with shards. The fact that you can upgrade to the paid rift at any point really makes it feel like your not GAMBLING anything since you can just wait to see how far along you get before making that transaction. For the first rift, I waited until I already hit lvl 70 before buying the paid version and immediately getting my money back.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7Q3NYK1HVND4/20200107074956-1.jpg
For me, I just see the rift as something thats giving me free cosmetics every now and then on a game that I was planning on playing anyway. I still have the auric cells from the first rift that was refunded to me which I intend on dropping into this rift if I can manage to finish it. I had taken a break from the game for afew months, which is why I didnt get very far at all in the last rift.
Oh I agree, I have the same attitude in general, and the fact that the premium track doesn't contain XP boosters to encourage early purchasing is my favourite thing about the Rift.
At the same time, I think there are some improvements that could be made, if only for the sake of the feature's long-term success. I can manage the grind, because DBD is basically the only game I play and I have a lot of free time, but a lot of people can't, and that kind of thing can get demoralising after a while. If they don't feel like they can get anything worthwhile out of the feature, they'll lose interest in it. In my opinion, it's actually in BHVR's best financial interests to make the Rift a bit more casually accessible than it is, because people are more likely to get enthused about and want to spend money on something that they feel is within their reach.
-
Unfortunately not. It's a highly-requested feature, but apparently there are no plans to implement it at the moment.

If only it was a two-way street. π It's really toxic on PS4 which is weird because it's like super chill and friendly and cooperative on the forums which I really appreciate by the way yourself included. On PS4 it's bad dude, like every couple matches I get a message. EVERY match there's griefing when I play killer. Be it teabagging or on rare occasion people even refusing to leave the map after the exit gates are opened and I don't mean for a couple minutes, but for a good amount of time. I had one game where instead of leaving they went around and were just destroying all my demogorgon tunnels And because I was disheartened because here's another loss for myself I really just wanted the game to end so I could learn from it and move on and stuff like that definitely makes it hard sometimes. But ya know, rude is not an excuse for rude π€·π»ββοΈ
Absolutely, I know exactly what you mean. To be fair, I think it is a two-way street in the sense that people who like to go out of their way to be nice to their opponents will do so regardless of which role they're playing, and I think there are just as many mean people out there playing both roles. It's just that, because of the 4:1 ratio, you're four times as likely to get a toxic survivor in your game than a toxic killer. At least from what I've found, usually if the "survivors" are being toxic it's actually only one or two of them, but it only takes one to spoil the whole experience.
In my case, half the time I don't care about winning, but if I do want to win I won't go easy on anyone. However, I also won't gloat or rub my victory in their face - I won't wait around and waste time at the gates as survivor, and I won't pretend I'm going to let someone go and then kill them at the last minute. I think that kind of behaviour is cruel and unnecessary, and says a lot about the kind of person someone is.
-
No particular reason, except that outfits as a concept were introduced after prestige was a thing, and I suppose they never got around to implementing it. But I agree, it's a great suggestion.

Don't you earn those auric cells back anyways? So not only do you earn the cosmetics, you get auric cells you can spend on other things in the store (killers, survivors, cosmetics).
Yes, but only if you finish the whole Rift, and if you spend those cells on Store cosmetics you'll have to buy more for the next Rift Pass. In other words, worst case scenario from the developer perspective is they don't make any money - you spend $10 worth of AC, you get $10 worth of AC back. That's very different from giving away money for free.

I respect that. I definitely don't tunnel even when I run into a teabagger or someone sending me messages. Despite the abundant temptation. I used the Mori and I didn't really tunnel I just kind of played, ad I normally do, and if I saw someone that I had hooked previously I then just killed them. π€·π»ββοΈ But I didn't sit around and wait for it or anything. Because I know I would be super frustrated if I got hooked once and then boom I'm just dead I'd be like really game? XD
Yeah, that's why people have those self-imposed rules, because they know it's not fun and they like to go out of their way to make sure their opponents have a good time - which is admirable, but certainly not compulsory.

No one, not even the devs themselves, is going to tell you that this isn't a problem or that you should just suck it up, because everyone experiences this. The matchmaking fixes are coming, but they haven't been implemented yet. For now, we're all in the same unfortunate boat.

I appreciate the clarification man because like I said you know I got on the forums when I started playing to kind of get the etiquette and stuff, because I don't like to be toxic, and I've been avoiding it. literally going out of my way to avoid it sometimes like running by someone that just got unhooked to kill the person that got them off the hook. I read that and I thought well I'm sorry that seems like that's my directive with this Mori π
The way the game is designed in general encourages tunnelling as a playstyle because in any game where you're playing against a team, eliminating as many of them as possible as early as possible is always going to put you at a huge advantage. Moris just make that easier. You can definitely use them, but it's up to you what you want to do with them - for example, a lot of people have a self-imposed rule that they only mori survivors who are on death hook, or that they only use their mori at all if the survivors are being rude or irritating.

I agree with you about the grind (and the fact that it's like that might suggest that lack of generosity is at least part of the motivation behind not including AC on the free track).
However, it is worth remembering that every 100 auric cells they give away is worth $1. Even if they only gave away 200 auric cells on the free track, if 10,000 people complete the Rift, that's $20,000 they've just given away. If they do that for every Rift, it's $80,000 a year. For a billion-dollar company like Activision or Epic, that might not be a big deal, and they can afford to effectively give away that kind of money for the sake of longer-term profit, but it's possible that BHVR, whose annual revenue represents a tiny fraction of either of those, might simply not be able to afford to do something like that.

Because Scott said he got the last 3-4 killer names before the release/PTB. He seems to know someone. He could just be lying, but why would he do that? I believe him.Β
I don't think he's lying either, I just wanted to know why OP used that particular phrasing because it seemed odd. I don't know how he knows, but it didn't come across to me like he knew someone, given that he was also talking about how even the Fog Whisperers don't get advance information like that, and he said that he could be wrong which made it sound like he had guessed or found something for himself. But even if he did know someone, to me that doesn't translate to being "close to and loved by" the devs in general - that description seems more fitting for someone like Cahla, for example. Again though, not saying anyone here is wrong, just curious about the premises behind OP's argument.
