  • Anything I'm not commenting on, I don't feel strongly about one way or the other.

2 - You've probably heard this before, but the hatch mechanic exists to stop hostage games from happening, so that the survivors always have some reason to be traversing the map even after the game has progressed to the point where it's become clear that doing gens is a death sentence. As much as it sucks to lose the last survivor to the hatch, I'm certain it would suck more (at least for the majority of killers) to wander around for half an hour trying to find the last survivor. At least in the first scenario the match ends and you get to move on to the next one.

3 - I understand wanting to buff Blood Warden, but this would make it too easy to trap survivors in the map so that they literally cannot escape under any circumstances, especially now that the killer can choose to start the EGC. That's not a concept I'm a fan of, especially at the point where the survivors have all but won. Ironically, the problem you seem to have with the hatch is exactly the problem I have with this iteration of Blood Warden.

4 - Trapper is a late-game killer, which doesn't necessarily make him badly designed. Having said that, I do agree that picking up and placing one trap at a time is slow, boring and frustrating and his basekit could use some changes, but I think starting with all his traps would be a bit too much (not to mention an indirect nerf to Iridescent Stone). I'd suggest making him start with and be able to carry at least two or three traps, and potentially make the setting time shorter and/or normalise the traps' starting positions so they're less out of the way.

5 - I think this idea is based on a misunderstanding of what Distortion's main function is, at least from a design standpoint. Distortion works primarily as an informational perk, not a stealth perk. Its purpose is not to help you hide from the killer, but to help you figure out whether the killer is running aura-reading perks and, if so, which ones. Lost a token when they hooked someone? That means they have BBQ. Lost a token while being healed? Nurse's Calling. And so on. I wouldn't be opposed to a small buff, maybe 1-2 extra tokens, the point I'm trying to make is mostly that in its current iteration, Distortion is far from "completely useless" - most people just aren't using it right.

7 - This is also something that has been addressed many times before. We can't, and shouldn't, punish people for playing with their friends. It would discourage a lot of people from playing at all, and could easily be circumvented just by lobby hopping in solo queue until you get into one with your friends, which would affect wait times for everyone. Basically, it wouldn't do what you want it to do, all it would do is make the SWF experience less enjoyable and more frustrating, both inside and outside of the match itself.

9 - Not a bad idea on paper, but I think one that would need to be thoroughly tested in practice.

12 - Also a fun idea, I wouldn't mind seeing this in the game.

13 - Being able to see ranks in practice tends to encourage lobby dodging and extends queue times for everyone. Especially with MMR being introduced within the next few weeks, all this would do is confuse people.

14 - A distaster, I would be inclined to say. Kill rates are nowhere near so drastically bad that the game needs to be lengthened by an entire generator.

  • I'm using "competitive" in the literal sense of the word - that is, a game in which players compete with one another.

But I want keep with that bug Ç-Ç. It doesn't affect gameplay, it is just fun, but ok I'll report it Ç-Ç

You're not obliged to report it, so don't worry about it if you don't want to! I was just letting you know what to do if you did want to help it get fixed.

  • Pig and Plague are both fun. Plague is probably better at snowballing, but Pig is better at overall slowdown. I personally find Pig more enjoyable, and she's definitely way better at getting emblems if rank is something you're concerned about.

  • Happened to me at one point as well, it's fixed if you just pick another killer and then reselect the one you want. I'd recommend reporting it as a bug nonetheless (remember to report it in the PTB Bug Section if that's what you're playing).

It’s still a system that does more harm than good. My reasoning for this is because this isn’t the game you can rejoin like rainbow 6 siege and survivors can still hook suicide. Installing a DC penalty for survivors that leave is only half the problem. Might as well not have it in there at all. Also, Mori’s, tunneling and camping are All deflating factors in the game causing DC rates to climb as well. I see teammates back out even still just because they see people getting tunneled AND Mori’d as soon as they get off the hook and then the other survivors just can’t get their objectives done losing teammates too fast. The game ends too fast. It’s just not fun for them. Maybe swf teams stand a better chance, but playing solo it’s consistent. I don’t mean to take one side here but I really feel like I’m stating the obvious yet I feel like a lot of people choose to ignore the reasons why people disconnect. Also, I too have experienced internet or server crashes that have netted me a DC penalty. If this penalty is to ensure Killers don’t DC well, who are they harming if they do? They’re out there by themselves. Survivors can just move on. As a killer I’d be upset, but people still do it anyways regardless of the penalty. Rather than inflict punishments On people that can’t rejoin the game they left either willingly or unwillingly, the focus should be on making the game more enjoyable. I think people would disconnect less often that way.

I think you're giving people too much credit by assuming that making the game more fun would stop disconnecting - you said yourself that you're seen people disconnect because the killer is using a mori, and I guarantee (because I've seen it) people disconnect for sillier reasons than that: because the killer is tunnelling, because it's a killer they don't like, or even just because they got downed.

Point being, there will always be bad sports who will disconnect because they're selfish and losing, regardless of how well-balanced the game is, because it's impossible to please everyone and some people don't understand that a competitive game won't always go the way they want. If the developers waited to implement DC penalties until the entire community agreed that the game was sufficiently fun and balanced, it would never happen.

No is not impossible, why everthing about dbd it's impossible? a lot of games have good hitboxs but "dbd can't have because it's impossible it's just latency" even being tons of games with perfect hitboxs systems that suport much more than 5 players at the same time, second how could be impossible to tell the diference between a person pressing esc and click disconnect from a game crash? "Oh you can just press alt+f4" if you try that dbd shows up a message "Leave the game?" and if you use the task manager the same thing appears on the screen so ins't impossible to tell the diference and above all of that there's games where's they can even detect if you got your internet disconnected and reconnect you IN THE SAME MATCH so again, how is impossible to BHVR implement those things? the unique way to avoid all those things and exploit the system it's literraly plug off the ethernet cable or shut down your pc and this in both cases are extremely things to do...

Extreme, perhaps, and yet people do them. Switching your computer into aeroplane mode temporarily used to stop you from losing your item when you died, and it was quite a common practice because it was quick and easy. So basically, you've answered your own question.

"But from the little that I've seen, and the lot that I've heard, the level of entitlement and disrespect on the stream was honestly disgusting."

Yes, it was disgusting. Parts of this community are a shame. It was 100% clear that the new Killer will not be the main focus of the Stream, still the Chat was overflooded with Requests for the new Killer. Usually, when watching Livestreams, I watch them with the Chat. But I switched to full screen because it annoyed me a lot.

Will do the same for every DBD Stream in the future.

I really like the Stream myself, of course, for me as well the Highlight was the Trailer, but overall it was really enjoyable to watch.

Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the stream as well. My favourite part was the previews of the new graphical update, personally. But sometimes chat can just ruin it. I hope the devs weren't paying too much attention to it - I know I would find that kind of thing incredibly disheartening in their position.

  • Totally agree. I expected the "nerf/buff" posts, because that's inevitable every time a new killer is introduced - half the community think they're too weak, the other half think they're too strong, and the truth is no one knows what they're talking about because they haven't had time to learn the new mechanics properly yet on either side.

But from the little that I've seen, and the lot that I've heard, the level of entitlement and disrespect on the stream was honestly disgusting. Imagine putting months of hard work into something only to be met with thousands of people swearing at you going "we don't care, just give us what we want and get lost". Really disappointing - I can only hope the love and support they received elsewhere was able to mitigate it somewhat.

  • Yes, this is normal. It should have been explained to you in a pop-up when you first opened the PTB, but basically the save file on the PTB is not carried over directly from the live version. Essentially, the developers took a snapshot of everyone's data on the live servers a few weeks ago, and that's the save that you're carrying on from on the PTB, so any progress you've made in those weeks won't be on the PTB. Nothing that happens on the PTB transfers back to the live servers, though, so rest assured your main save will remain untouched from wherever it was before you downloaded the PTB.

  • More likely simply incorrect - people sometimes get numbers mixed up, especially when they're rushing to get all the information up there as fast as possible for those that can't access the PTB. I checked in-game though, and tier III is definitely 60 seconds, while tier I is 80.

  • When crossplay is added to consoles, they will be put in the same pool with everyone else (Steam, Windows Store, Xbox, PS4, Switch). However, apparently it is an opt-in system - although of course, your queue times will be affected if you choose to opt out.

  • My guess would be it's in preparation for the introduction of crossplay - probably some kind of unique player ID number, to enable you to add friends from other platforms.

The thing that annoyed me was that i was the first one to put it up yet someone else is getting the credit for my post. surley it would of been better to keep the first one

Well like I said, I'm not a mod so I wouldn't know for sure, that's just the best explanation I can think of as to why it would have happened. Perhaps the other thread was bigger so there were fewer comments to move or something, I can't really be sure 🤷

  • @Revzi100 said:

i see now my discussion was merged with another and give to to other person. thats some messed up crap, even gave them my and others comments that were on my discussion WHY? WHY? WHY?

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be that the moderators wanted to keep discussion on the same topic within a single thread rather than having a whole bunch of threads about the same thing, and so decided to merge the two. Try not to let it bother you too much - after all, you said you started the thread because you wanted to see people's reactions to the new chapter, so it shouldn't matter too much who created the discussion as long as it's being discussed. It's better than having the forum flooded with dozens of threads talking about the same thing.

  • Although I haven't tried every one of them myself, I can say with about 95% confidence that the answer to almost all of those questions is no, cages do not affect any hook-based perks, whether the activation condition is a hook or a rescue.

When using Rite of Judgement, PH is slowed to 4.4m/s, which is 110% movement speed - the same as Huntress, Hag, Spirit or Deathslinger.

  • I was thinking about whether or not to do a summary on this one, but I figured since I'll probably make notes for myself I might as well share them. I'll get onto it this afternoon 😊

  • It's actually 80/70/60, so the third level is still the best.

  • I thought that sandbagging was specifically when you're being chased by the killer and run into another survivor to make the killer chase them instead, so I'm surprised everyone else seems to have a different perspective. But I suppose as a broad definition, we can all agree that sandbagging essentially just means sabotaging the other survivors in some way.

  • In the sense that Switch players will be able to play against him, probably. But as far as being able to play as him goes, that's still a matter of licensing agreements which is another issue entirely, so it will happen when it happens regardless of whether crossplay is enabled or not.

Ok thank you, this isn’t how it used to be, good to know. Appreciate the feedback.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that was ever the case. Obsession perks have always increased your chances of being the obsession, but they've never guaranteed it.

  • The PTB operates through the Steam beta system, so unfortunately I don't believe there's a way to access it on any other platform, Windows Store included.

Ima asnwer all thw questions you added here

    1. Ofcourse i would use the accouny. I would be transfering it to pc where i would play most so yes i would use it

    2. Im interested in most of the rift because i want to play kate when i get her and i play huntress and legion. So getting the rift and some of the outfits wont hurt, plus with the elftover cells i could buy the biker kate coametics, parts of it atleast.

    3. It would make me feel worse if i missed out on the content in the rift than buying it in ps4 and then not being able to use it if cross transfer isnt a thing.

If cross transfer isnt a thing ill probably just buy thr silent hill chapter on pc since its basically my childhood and looks really cool. Amd apart from that i probably would nit buy anything else on pc if cross transfer isnt a thing.

Thanks for the help amd sorry if there are some grammar errors

For the first question, I meant more would you still play the game on PS4 if you couldn't transfer your progress to PC. But given your answer to the third question, I would definitely say you should buy the pass. As you said, they did mention cross-progression in the stream so hopefully that will be a reality for you at some stage.

  • I don't think so, since the PTB operates exclusively through the Steam beta system.

  • It wasn't mentioned on the stream I don't think, but crossplay is apparently an opt-in feature. So if you don't want to play against PC players, you don't have to (although queues might be longer and matchmaking worse due to the smaller player pool).

"Yeah man we totally did work beforehand" sweating

They STILL haven't fixed the following bugs that only showed up when dedicated servers came out:

    1. Grabs work maybe 5% of the time
    2. Lunges randomly lock you in place instead of lunging, wasting a swing and giving the survivor distance
    3. Sometimes when you "grab" a survivor, the game catastrophically shits itself and locks you into the carry position, rendering the survivor in question invisible and preventing you from catching anybody else. Even if you DO down somebody, the game wont let you pick them up, and you can't drop or hook the ghost

And that's ignoring the fact that I have yet to see a game with under 60ms ping. That's nearly a full second of latency, it's no wonder bullshit hits are so prevalent

So if I've understood you correctly, your reasoning is that because there are still bugs in the game, that means the developers didn't work on it at all to prepare it for dedicated servers? There's not much I can say to that that @Lycidas hasn't already, so I'll just say that doesn't follow logically at all and leave it at that.

I bet you wouldn't be saying that if a survivor was tbagging a killer

As a matter of fact, I do feel much the same way about survivors teabagging at the gates. That's rather bold of you to just assume I have double standards without knowing anything about me.

  • If old Ruin really were the only way to counter good survivors, kill rates would have fallen dramatically since its rework. And from what I've heard, they have not. There's also no reason to believe that perks like Small Game and Detective's Hunch would become meta if old Ruin were reintroduced - if that were true, those perks would have been meta back when old Ruin was being used in 80% of matches, which they weren't.

Most importantly though, your two main points appear to contradict one another completely. How was old Ruin so unreliable and borderline useless against good survivors that it wasn't worth nerfing, and yet simultaneously so powerful that it was apparently the only way to counter them?

  • It's been happening to a lot of people, both on PC and mobile. The mods have confirmed that they're looking into it!

  • @GoshJosh said:

Going to bump this, as I just had a match where the killer decided to leave all four survivors slugged for no reason. I even continued to crawl in the dying state (albeit minimally away from where I was strategically positioned), yet still got crows. Why am I not given a fair chance at getting the hatch or bleeding out when the killer does a BM such as this?

I don't believe you're supposed to get crows if you're still crawling while in the dying state. It would be nice if a dev were able to confirm that, but for now, particularly if you have video footage, I'd recommend reporting that as a bug: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs

I understand 😊 It's hard not to get hopeful when everyone is this hyped up, I just don't want to see anyone too crushed if it doesn't happen today. There's certainly still a possibility that it might, though. We'll know in a few hours one way or another!

Why would they have us wait til the 26 just to not not release the PTB until next week? I mean all they hype for the revel but you can't play as them until next Tuesday. That'll ruin it for some people myself included. And I know the anniversary was the 26 last year if I recall.

Last year's anniversary stream was on the 30th or 31st, depending on where you're from - not that it really matters, since they could very easily choose to do things differently this time around even if they did release a PTB this time last year. I don't know why they would wait to release the PTB - the point is, they might, and we don't know whether they will or not. So while we might hope that it's coming today, it's best to keep in mind that we don't know for a fact that it will be.

  • I believe it's only Steam players, since the PTB works using the Steam beta system.

  • There has been no official confirmation about when the PTB will release, only unofficial "leaks". The only thing that has been officially confirmed is that the PTB will not launch until after the stream.

  • Well, having not received an email to that effect in the past week, I can at least confirm that my entry didn't win. But thank you for the support 😊

I'm not sure if it's possible (because I haven't tried), But if you can, you should transfer your account to PC. That's what I'd do.

It's not possible at the moment, and although there has been speculation about the feature being introduced in the future, nothing has been officially confirmed. That's why OP is concerned about whether or not he will be able to transfer his progress to PC if he buys the Rift Pass on PS4.

  • Someone with bars on their profile picture has been jailed, which is what typically happens the second time you breach forum rules (the first being a warning). If you are jailed, you can't create threads, and I think there might also be a limit on how often you can comment (though I'm not sure about that second one).

You can find more information about forum rules and consequences for breaking them in this post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/87004/forum-rules

  • Just as a heads up, it hasn't actually been officially confirmed when the PTB starts, so don't get your hopes up too high for it being today. The one thing we do know for sure is that even if it is today, it won't be until after the stream.

that's why monetizing something already free is a bad idea, and would make all the pc players who use them upset

As I just said, it's not the monetisation that's the problem. What you're saying is a problem is not the idea being proposed, but something else entirely, which you're assuming would be a side-effect of such a feature being introduced, even though that's by no means a certainty.

(To clarify, I don't think it's an unreasonable assumption you're making, but it is an assumption, and I think it's worth noting the distinction between it and what OP is actually proposing.)
