Thabsk for the clairification; makes a whole lot more sense now as to why I didn't see your post yet. Yours definitely goes a whole lot more in-depth than mine does, so I'd say there's definitely still merit to making one if you're up for it (since they take a lot of work, as I found out).
I wanted people to have something quick and easy for those who couldn't, or didn't want to, watch the stream.
I'm sorry for stealing your mojo though, and your title too. You're the real one people should be thanking here since without your comments I'd never have done this one.
Don't worry about it - I understand that you had only good intentions 😊That's kind of you to say, though. I am working on a more detailed summary of my own at the moment, since there were others who also said that they were anticipating it.
-
Anywhere and everywhere that they could potentially come from. Particularly if the other survivor is a stranger, you can't trust them to warn you if the killer comes near. Most people are looking around constantly when working on a generator to make sure they don't get snuck up on.

To answer the question, the reason it's grab a survivor from a locker instead of hit a survivor while they're exposed from Iron Maiden is because the latter is just short of impossible in high ranks. Chances are you won't complete it at high ranks before tomes are done unless you intentionally start a farming game and convince a survivor to just allow you to complete it. The intention of challenges is to make games a bit difficult or be difficult to obtain, but not to the extent that you can't complete it playing relatively normally during the duration of the tome.
They could have made it "hit an Exposed survivor while using Iron Maiden", though, like they did with the Haunted Ground challenge. It still has some connection to the perk, but you don't need them to be Exposed by Iron Maiden in order to complete the challenge. That way, whether or not they are able to complete the challenge isn't entirely outside the killer's control.

I have a feeling a lot of people were waiting for your main version, I just wanted to try and help out since I hadn’t seen your comment yet & thought people would like to see what the stream was about.
The stream happens at 4am my time, so it was only 9am for me when you posted this, and then I have other commitments to keep at the same time, like my uni classes.
It usually takes me about six hours in total to write up the summary once I get to it, because it takes a lot of time pausing the stream to take notes, reading back over it, making corrections, ensuring that I haven't missed anything and that what I've written was accurate and easy to read, all that sort of thing - just because I think if anyone is going to be reading my summary instead of watching the stream, which I know is the case for some people, it's really important that what I'm giving them is a faithful and complete representation.
I try to get it posted within a day or two of the stream, but that's all just my long-winded way of explaining why you didn't see anything from me within the first couple of hours after it aired 🙂

I'll look forward to it if you choose to.
Any discussion about these devstreams, I'm interested in.
Alright, if there are still people who'd like to see it, I'll go ahead and do it 🙂
Might have to switch up my title format now, though.

how exactly do u justify something being moral when one party is a supernatural killer with beyond logical abilitys that kills and tortures to appease a godlike being known as the entity who has the ability to rip people from our world into one of its own making where it feeds off of pain and suffering and the breaking of peoples hope?
i mean the fact survivors hope to not be tunneled or hit by NOED.. wouldnt killers using that make the entity happy? :D by logic it would since the killer is destroying ur hope so the entity can feast
I clarified in a later comment that I wasn't saying tunnelling was immoral - all I said was that one scenario is slightly less morally justifiable than the other. Kind of like how my grandparents are both old, but one is slightly less old than the other.

I certainly planned to, but someone else decided to do it instead this time (pinned and everything), so now I'm not sure whether there's any point.

So... should I still do my long version, or...?

If you're looking for YouTubers, I would recommend Otzdarva and Scott Jund. Both are excellent, fair-minded killer players with a lot of educational material available (Otz does a lot of tutorials, and I'm personally a fan of Scott's analysis games, where he watches killer gameplay footage sent in by subscribers and explains what they did well, where they went wrong and how they can improve). I've also heard that Fungoose specialises in educational DBD content and is very good at it, although I personally haven't seen any of his stuff.

Implying something is morally justified is also implying that the killer is doing something wrong, aka morally unjustified. It doesn't matter how you try to disguise the implications.
I apologise if my comment was unclear, but implications and inferences are not the same thing.

I hate to break it to you, but tunneling a good survivor will usually lose you the game depending on what map and killer you are playing. Especially if they have crutch strike.
The ~killer~ needs to be "morally justified" to kill the survivor, what a joke.
Just 12 hook the survivors when gens can get done in 4 minutes and every survivor has 3-4x second chance perks.
If you play billy, spirit, nurse, or oni you are trash though. Git gud.
You're not breaking anything to me. That was a pretty big jump getting to that conclusion, which makes the insults and sarcasm even more unnecessary.
Where did I say that I thought killers had to be morally justified in anything they did? As I recall, what I actually said was that tunnelling when you have no other option is slightly less morally justified than choosing to tunnel. I did not say that killers shouldn't tunnel, nor, for the record, that tunnelling was morally unjustified.
I actually don't think anyone should be expected to do anything that isn't in their best strategic interests for the sake of the other players' enjoyment (although it is certainly nice when they choose to do so regardless), and I would never put someone down for employing a strategy like tunnelling, regardless of circumstances.
Next time, maybe take a second before you jump down any throats and make sure you're responding to what the person actually said, not what you mistakenly read into it.
-
The blind lasts for about 2.5 seconds by default, and it only takes 1-2 seconds of flashlight use to do the blind. So yes, it's definitely possible to keep you blind for well over five seconds if they time it well, even with a yellow flashlight.
-
I'd call it tunnelling in either case - one scenario is just slightly less morally justifiable than the other.
-
Just wanted to add that I went and searched the Bug Reports for your issues, is this the same problem you had with your rank? https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/138219/ive-been-deranked-for-no-reason-ps4
There's also this thread about losing items after escaping: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/136290/lost-item-upon-escape
And this one too: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/150850/i-always-lose-things
The first of those item threads has been marked as acknowledged which means the devs know about it and are working on it, but if this is the same issue you had there's no harm in upvoting one or both of those threads and/or adding a comment to explain your experience. The more information they have, the easier it will be to fix.

Nooo it’s not the rank reset. I didn’t played dbd for a month and then yesterday was my first game, i have got the notification that my rank was reseted (from 1 to 4) but then after my game crashed, it reseted twice. And i can remebered i escaped and technically won. I have ps4 and when my game crash is only dbd.
Btw thanks for the link for the forum. I think i’m gonna report it.
That's probably a good idea. I would report both the item loss and the rank reset issue, but make a separate thread for each one. Also, use the search function to check if anyone else has already reported the same bug, so as to avoid making a duplicate thread. If you find that someone else has reported it, you can just upvote their thread and if you want to, add a comment describing your experience.
-
Try restarting your game (and maybe Steam as well, for good measure) and see if that fixes things. If not, you can send a ticket to Support and they should be able to help you resolve the issue: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us
-
Would you be able to show some screenshots of the characters' inventories with the item(s) missing? Not because we don't believe you, just in case you missed it or something like that.
-
@xBBxWorm said:

No worries, hope you're able to get it sorted!

For someone who's not even Devotion 1 yet? No, that's not possible without hacks.
I'm not certain what the procedure is for reporting someone for hacking add-ons like that - normally, you would report someone after the game and submit additional evidence through a Support ticket, but that doesn't make much sense in this case since the amount of add-ons he owns isn't something that happened in-game, or that you could have known just by playing against him.
I might tag @MandyTalk in here to see if she knows the correct procedure for reporting players over something like hacked add-ons which wasn't done in game but which he still shouldn't be allowed to get away with. For now, I would suggest sending a Support ticket (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us) to report him using that clip as evidence and see if anything comes of it.
-
Sometimes, but they shouldn't, and if they do that's their problem. Saying "gg" after any game has been a staple of good sportsmanship since before video games even existed. It's not your fault if other people want to take offence where none was given.
-
@VectorRises said:
@Fibijean I watched your video and they contradicted themselves a lot. They have a lot of work to do it seems like they messed up some where down the line of the updates
My video? Are you talking about the Technical Livestream?
-
The simple answer is most of Bubba's add-ons just aren't very good. It does exactly what it says, reduces the radius at which survivors can hear the noise of the chainsaw. As you say, that's of limited use on Hillbilly, and almost completely useless on Bubba, which is why pretty much no one uses them outside of meme builds.
-
Most actions in the game are processed server-side. Hit detections are one (if not the only) exception. The devs have confirmed that they are working on minimising the effect of latency so that it feels fairer for both sides, but hit detection will probably always be killer-side. The reason for this is essentially that, as bad as it feels to get hit from a long way away as a survivor, it feels way worse as a killer to "hit" a survivor and watch your weapon go straight through them. Imagine if you never knew whether or not the game was going to register you hitting the button to get a skillcheck - it's kind of like that.
-
I don't personally know, but I would suggest asking in the Technical Issues subforum (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/technical-issues). You're more likely to find someone there who understands and can help with errors and technical problems.
-
Rank reset was today, so if your rank changed that much it was probably because that was the first time you've restarted the game since the reset hit.
As for the item, you shouldn't be losing items if you escaped and reached the tally screen before the game crashed. It's not possible to reimburse the item or anything like that, so all I can suggest is that you report it as a bug here on the forums: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs
-
I think so. Doc isn't really in need of stealth to begin with, so the larger terror radius can only work to his advantage. Plus, it gives bonus Deviousness bloodpoints, which is the category that he already excels in the most.

They did give us the bloodweb rework, which i was happy to get.
I know it's my choice. I want to unlock all tier 3 perks for all my killers, but dammit the bloodpoints needed is growing with every added killer.
I'm expecting to spend 5mill+ bloodpoints at least unlocking all tier 3 killer perks for next killer and i try to be efficient with the bloodweb.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't mind it so much, but it's particularly rough on newer players, killer mains, and newer killer mains in particular. Like I said though, there are plans to reduce it from what I've heard - my comment wasn't referring to the bloodweb rework, but to future updates.
-
I didn't read the comments, so forgive me if this has been said already, but I'd just like to add that the devs are very aware of the grind being an issue - reducing the grind is, I believe, already on their list of things to fix.
-
@OniWantsUrLocation said:
But you do know that they don't create killers within 3 months, right? It wouldn't surprise me if they could even release 4 at once if they wanted to.
I'm guessing you're talking to me - yes, I am aware. That doesn't change the fact that they have a strict schedule to adhere to. It takes more than 3 months from inception to launch for each DLC, but that doesn't mean they have a bunch of free time during that period. They've still got a lot to work on at any given moment, so I can't really imagine them finding time to work on a whole new DLC in amongst that without cutting some serious corners.
-
I've heard people saying that based on the fact that the actors for both Pinhead and Candyman are credited on DBD's IMDB page, but that means about as much as if they were credited on the Wikipedia page. I'd be quite surprised if they released two DLCs at once, and honestly I'd rather they didn't, because more likely than not both of them would be kind of half-assed if that happened. 3 months is a pretty narrow timeframe for developing one killer, let alone two.

Skill is so broad like...chases? Gens? Healing?
Stealth? I just don't understand the word "Skill" in this game. =/
No clue unfortunately, the devs are being pretty tight-lipped about it.

@Timtom24 said:
sounds interesting. But im confused, the actors of Pinhead and Candyman got revealed in ImpD as voice actors for dead by daylight. Maybe we get instead of 1 killer, 3 killers. that would be amazing
Not likely. The IMDB thing isn't really evidence for any new killers, since like Wikipedia, IMDB can be edited by literally anyone. Especially since there are multiple actors being added, it sounds much more likely that there are just a couple of wishful thinkers out there that want it to be true, or else they wanted to troll hopeful fans who don't know how easy IMDB is to change.

No, you're right. Officially, and also in my personal opinion, a 2K is a draw. Those people probably don't play much killer.

What do you mean with "I don't think that's likely to happen"?
Anyway, I opened this thread and the ticket as soon as possible so I hope it will help eventually.
I've decided to play the game the game right now, by the way, since I've some spare time and I would really like to do so :) I'm not gonna spend any BP until this situation is sorted out unless I really need items to play. I'll go with the bare minimum.
Sorry, I meant I don't think it's likely that your account will get banned. Didn't mean for my pronouns to be so ambiguous there, I apologise!
Probably a good call with regards to the bloodpoints. Best to play it safe for now.

@Fibijean thanks a lot :) Actually it's strange that they didn't understand the problem since I basically copy-pasted my ticket to create this post, editing out only sensible informations and pieces in which I was referring directly to the costumer support. I replied trying to clarify but I'm actually quite worried now that they will not be able to fix the issue and my account will be banned because of it :/ Also I don't actually now if I should play or not right, since I don't want to spend bloodpoints. Also, thanks for tagging @Peanits. I hope they can give some insight about the issue.
@IamDwight believe me, it's not very fun. I mean, I already had all killers at 50 and the perks I need on Nancy, I was about to start to grind prestiges. Even if they let me keep the bloodpoints that will take some of the fun out of the game.
Honestly, when I started reading the post I thought you were asking for help retrieving your account at first, so maybe the Support people just skimmed it and missed what you were actually asking. They do get a lot of reports every day, so it's certainly plausible.
Worst case scenario, if your account does get banned, you should be able to appeal it since you've done nothing wrong. If you happen to have any evidence of your account having been stolen (such as emails from Steam Support, for example) I would hold onto that just in case you need it to prove your innocence. If it helps, though, I don't think that's likely to happen.
Hopefully Peanits will have a spare moment soon in which he can help you sort it out 😊

It's a bit like in reallife. If I see someone with long hair and a long beard, I assume they like metal.
And yes, it's an expectation, but I will give the benefit of the doubt. But I should reword it maybe. It's more of an assumption, then an expectation, or something in between these two. Can't explain it better :D
No that's all good, the clarification was very helpful, thank you 😊

No problem! :)
Cosmetic wise. If they behave like expected.. well prejudice confirmed. If not. Fine.
(I associate a certain toxic streamer with Blendette. So there is another point for my bias)
I have a friend who plays a blendette. She's really good at hiding, but is also doing gens. So basically the example of a useful blendette. I still raise my eyebrow sometimes, but I know I can trust her ingame.
So in other words, if someone is using the typical Blendette cosmetics (P3 skin or dark clothing) you expect them to be useless, but you're also open to being proven wrong once the match starts?

@Draneth said:
First of all, thanks @Fibijean for your reply^^ As u said I had already contact the support team about the issue but let say that... They are not really helping. At all. I copy-paste the reply:
"Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
As much as we would like to help, I am afraid to inform you that we are unable to provide you with any help on this. Please note that the security of an account is the responsibility of its owner. I really am sorry about this, but we are unable to give any assistance in this case.
Thank you for your understanding. If you have other concerns, please let us know and we'll be happy to help.
Stay safe out there...
The Dead by Daylight Team"
I mean, I know that security of the account is my concern and I already activated Steam Guard to deal with the problem now. I've learned my lesson. But are they really going to let me keep that bloodpoints? I don't want them and more importantly I don't want to get banned for something in which I was already the "victim" (besides DbD, they damaged my Steam account in other ways, for example). Right now I'm avoiding to play altogether even if I would like to but this is ridiculous.
Hm, I see what you mean. It almost sounds like Support misinterpreted your request and thought you were asking for them to help you recover your account, when I'm guessing what you were actually asking was for them to remove the hacked bloodpoints?
I might tag @Peanits in here after all, to see if he can help. He used to work on the Support team, I believe, so he has some personal experience in what they will and won't be able to do for you, and can probably therefore advise you on whether it's okay to keep the bloodpoints as things stand.

As others have said, no, they are not lairs, but they have a history about broken plans and promises.
And i dont even hold that against them, because i understand that plans sometimes need to adapt, and some promises have to back away for the health of the game, because other things occur or circumstances change.
But i dont have faith in this promised matchmaking for 2 reasons.
First, the elephant in the room SWF. I belive it is next to impossible to balance the game around solo and swf. There are a lot of information and disinformationperks in this game, that are all nullified by swf with comms. It clearly shows, the game never was designt for it.
A modern online game needs the option to play with friends, i fully agree on that. Its nothing they can take out of the game, nor should they.
That said, it needs to be balanced different than solo survivors. But the devs are afraid of the backlash if they made a seperatly balanced swf lobby, because swf would just lose their advantage, because it could be balanced around that. No killer would use knockout in that lobby, because he knew it was worthless.
But how do you assess the skill level of a team? For simplicity, lets just asume they set it to the highest skilled member, even though we knew it is still unbalanced then.
Which leads us to the second point. The devs have several times made clear (or so i understood it) that lobby times have a high priority. And rightly so, because noone wants to wait 1 hour to play the game. But in the past, they ranked low lobby times over fairly balanced games.
One of the problems with the current matchmaking is (other than the rank not being a viable measurrement) the fact that they extend the rank range you search for the longer the waiting time gets. That leads to the point where the 3 red rank swf get matched up with the equally long waiting rank 18 survivor and get thrown on the next availible killer.
And thats simply a matter of opinion, i know as much players like myself which would rather wait another 15 minutes and get a good balanced game as i know players who dont mind unbalanced games because they just kill themself on the hook and try the next game as long as its just 1 minute away.
And you are right, we dont need to know the algorithms behind the MMR. But they will hide the result of that algorithms (at least that what i understood, but maybe i am mistaken), to avoid people realizing they were sacrificed for shorter queue times. And there is no need for that, other than stop complaints.
So no, i dont expect any MagicalMatchRating to fix it all. The biggest balance and therefore skill difference will not be adressed, the second one will most likly be kept like it is on purpose.
I disagree that there is no reason to hide MMRs other than to stop complaints - it seems evident to me that the main motivation behind doing so is to make it more difficult for players to figure out how the system works in order to exploit it to increase their MMR inorganically (which is one of the many problems with the current ranking system, though admittedly not one of the major ones).
My comment which you initially replied to was in response to someone suggesting not that the matchmaking system was likely not to be as well-designed as one might hope, but that the entire thing was a ruse to stop people complaining about the bad matchmaking. That's what I was calling a "conspiracy theory" and taking issue with. I wasn't saying "there's no reason to believe the new system won't solve all the current problems", I was saying "there's no reason to believe that BHVR are lying about the MMR system being in development at all", which is what that person was claiming. I just wanted to clear that up, because I got the impression that you thought I was saying something else.
Otherwise, though, I think what you're saying is quite fair and reasonable. Those are legitimate concerns to have. None of us will know for sure how well the system works until we are able to test it for ourselves, and I for one am certainly not expecting it to be perfect. It just can't be any worse than what we already have.
-
Unless I forget, the only reason I wouldn't use an offering is if I'm playing Feng. She's my only P350 with all perks, meaning that I'm not actively levelling her anymore. So even though she's my main, her offering pool is fairly limited because I want to spend my bloodpoints on levelling other characters instead, so I only use Feng's offerings on special occasions.
-
As someone who has been part of a SWF in this situation (though I wasn't the one who told the lie), I don't think it has much to do with wanting to be perceived as particularly skillful. More often, it's because if a killer is asking a question like that, they're either genuinely curious for self-reflective purposes, or else (more likely, in my experience) they think SWF players are trash and should be removed from the game. People are reluctant to reveal that they are SWF for fear of the latter, because no one wants to sign up to be insulted and abused.
-
Sorry you went through that 🙁 Some people might say it was fairly tame, but that kind of thing can really hurt, especially if you're not used to it and get caught off-guard.
To answer your question, I don't get a whole lot of hate mail. I've only had to report people for stuff said in post-game chat once or twice. I'm not sure if it's just that Australian PC players are particularly nice or what, but there have been many more times when I have fully expected to get hate (I have been known to facecamp someone on first hook for a challenge, for example) and instead got a "gg" or even understanding and good sportsmanship in return.

To be clear, I don't think they're scheming liars either (that's just silly), but they have promised plenty of stuff that never came to be. That one is the one that stuck to my memory because I wrote an extremely detailed killer suggestion that hinged on that being implemented.
Fair enough. That certainly has been the case in the past. I'm pretty sure that's one of the main reasons that they adopted a policy of not talking about anything that's in development until it's far enough along that they're certain it's not going to get scrapped, because of the feelings of disappointment and betrayal that that sort of thing instilled in a lot of players.
-
The best people to contact, not only to get your account rolled back but to notify them that the exploit exists, are the Support team, which it sounds like you've already done. Tagging a developer here probably won't help, since they will almost certainly tell you to contact Support.
If I were you, as far as not taking advantage of the exploit goes, I would still play but make sure that you only spend bloodpoints that you personally earn and ignore the extra 100M. Of course, if you do that, bear in mind that you may or may not lose any progress you make in that time, depending on what method the team use to rectify the issue.

I recall them promising a highlight for when you were teleporting as the Hag and had multiple traps to choose from that were nearby.
...Still waiting on that one.
I'd have to see what was said in order to comment on it properly, but unless they gave a timeframe for the feature's expected release I wouldn't call that going back on their word. I won't deny that they've made a lot of mistakes in the past, I just don't think they're the scheming liars that many players make them out to be, and in this particular case I've yet to see any real reason to believe that they're lying about what they're working on beyond "I just feel like they might be".

Considering they won't tell us how the MMR works, going for the conspiracy theories or the devs' words carries exactly the same amount of weight, as neither can be backed up with proof.
True, there is no hard-and-fast evidence either way, because we can't see for ourselves what is going on within the studio. However, while neither is backed by conclusive proof, one is backed by significantly more logic.
And we don't need to know the algorithms behind it to know whether the system is working or not. All we need to know is whether our opponents are of roughly the same skill level as us, which as I said, should be obvious just from simple observation to anyone with a decent amount of game knowledge.

@Fibijean they said they fixed it. But that’s a hard no. I literally seen players not even in front of the killer and get hit, they completely juked the killer and it still gave them the hit. Latency has nothing to do with that. And yes I have seen killers swing then move side to side and get a hit for that. They need to just fix the hit range make it one way....
Latency has everything to do with it because hit detection is killer-side. Could you link me to where they said they had fixed the problem you're describing? The last I heard of it was that livestream I linked you to, where they said they were working on a solution.

First of, i would deny that the "conspiracy Theory" has no basis. The basis is the experience the player base have with claims of the devs and the result of changes made, which not always line up.
However, there is something in your post i dont understand, maybe you can explain it to me. The new MMR system will reflect the player skill more accurate. Shouldn´t that result in people of equal skill being matched with each other? If not, how is the MMR more accurate? If it does, why do we need rewards and punishments for different skill levels? To me, it seems like a contradiction.
I can recall very few, if any, times when the developers promised something and then went back on their word. I can recall quite a few times when players projected certain expectations onto the devs and were later disappointed, but that's another matter entirely. The devs gain literally nothing in the long term by telling us that they're developing something that they're not. Even if players can't see the ranks, bad matchmaking will be evident to any player with basic observational skills. It will still be unfun, and if games aren't fun, people stop playing them, so it's in the devs' best interests to fix a problem like that, and they know it. They may make mistakes, but they're not stupid - they wouldn't be this successful if they were. So there may be an emotional basis for believing something like that, but it holds very little water from a purely rational standpoint.
To answer your question, the current ranking system is not a good estimate of player skill. Two players who are both rank 3 could very easily have wildly different skill levels. The MMR system aims to change that, such that players who share the same, or similar, MMR will be of around the same skill level. This is a separate issue to that of matchmaking, it's just about the relationship between rank and skill.
At that point, in an ideal world, people would only be matched with others of the same MMR, and that way all matches would be equally balanced. However, realistically, that won't always be possible because it will depend a lot on player availability - one doesn't want to exclude players from matches altogether just because there is no one with the same MMR queuing at the same time as them. Therefore, there will be times when people are necessarily matched with players of different skill levels. It's not ideal, but it's better than excluding them from matches altogether. Naturally, they'll be trying to minimise such instances, but in cases where that kind of unbalanced matchmaking is necessary to allow people to play the game at all, the system is designed such that the outcome of such matches will impact justly on the players' MMRs, unlike the current system where you can depip just because you happened to get matched with a far more skilled opponent.

Okay, so in order from top to bottom
-Normally the prestige mixed with typical toxic are good, if not great
-I expect hard camping, noed, saw being held whilst the guy is literally kissing billy billy is so close on hook
-I mean being within eh 30 meters of hook along with 2 or 3 traps on one hook, just 1 trap and make your choice is a strategy
-Downing, spinning, jusg making the walking sushi roll look like a idiot, I love it.
-Jakes being literal gods of the game, somehow running every loop perfectly, getting a ton of skillchecks and hitting great without fail, and somehow running nothing in the meta and still somehow running killer for 3+ gens
Very helpful, thank you! ❤️
