Michael's terror radius in EWII is 16 metres by default, so no, M&A wouldn't reduce it to zero. However, if he combined M&A with the Dead Rabbit add-on, he could reduce it to 4 metres at a minimum.
The other possibility is that he was using a perk which makes him Undetectable, such as Beast of Prey, Tinkerer, Insidious or Dark Devotion, and the perk happened to activate around the same time that he hit EWII.
EDIT: As @Exerlin noted below, he could also conceivably have reduced his EWII terror radius to zero with a combination of Furtive Chase and Dead Rabbit, if he had already hooked the Obsession 3 times before reaching EWII (which seems unlikely, but is still possible).
Another possibility is that you might have been Oblivious at the time, if he was using the perk Nemesis and you had recently stunned him or used Decisive Strike, or if he was using Hex: Retribution and you had recently cleansed a totem.

What you're describing is a latency issue, and it is being worked on. However, contrary to popular belief, auto-aim is not a thing in DBD. Killers can sometimes hit survivors from further away than they ought to because of latency, but they can't hit a survivor by swinging in a totally different direction and having the game readjust the hit for them.
This was all explained in detail a few months ago in a developer livestream. If you're interested, I can link you to the summary post I made on that stream, which also contains links to the stream itself if you'd prefer to watch it instead of reading: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/129766/i-spent-every-spare-moment-i-had-today-watching-the-dev-stream-so-you-dont-have-to/

I'm being asked to play as inefficiently while Survivors are allowed to play the game any way they see fit
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Not that many killers don't also have a bunch of arbitrary rules that they like to impose on survivors, but in the case of tunnelling specifically you basically hit the nail on the head.
There is a case to be made for not tunnelling for moral reasons, because it isn't much fun for the survivor(s) on the receiving end, and many killers try to avoid it out of courtesy for that reason. I try not to tunnel as a killer, and as survivor I certainly don't appreciate it when I get tunnelled, because it feels crappy and it can be hard not to take it personally, but that's an entirely emotional response and I recognise that it's not a very justified one.
Having said that, I never expect killers not to tunnel, or give them crap about it after the game if they do. If your opponent goes out of their way to make sure you have fun at their own strategic expense, that is a favour they're doing you, not something you should expect of them. No one has the right to shame or abuse another player for not playing according to a set of arbitrary rules that they never agreed to. If you're the killer in that situation, don't let yourself be bullied, because they're the ones in the wrong, not you.
-
I watch his parodies, they're quite fun and inventive. I only reference it very occasionally when I'm with DBD players, and even then some people don't get it.

I know some people are bias about Claudette and some assume all Claudette’s are toxic. But I honestly think it’s just People with very wild imaginations that use her character And are seen as childish 🤷♂️. But then she’s not the only character people use In game to be childish with cause I’ve seen plenty of other people using other DBD characters To act Toxic and childish with.
She does have a very particular reputation because of the way she's historically been used by most people, but of course there are exceptions. I agree that it's a bit unfortunate, especially since she does seem like a genuinely nice person, lore-wise.

P3 survivors will likely be running most, of all the meta.
If I only see one flashlight I gamble based on cosmetics they know how to use it
Matching cosmetics are often the fun police
I expect huntresses who cant hit hatchets well to camp
I expect almost all Deathsling, I-, I hate this name. all Debt-slingers often proxy camp and overall either tunnel or play sweaty.
I expect all billies and oni's to tunnel, and if they're bad with their power to hard camp or be super toxic in the endgame
Bubbas are either memeing or suck ass.
clowns, if base cosmetic + frosty eyes camp, and tunnel, if they have cosmetics, oten play decent but have noed.
Trappers will always hard camp if they feel even slightly backed into a corner
All hags "trap camp" and my teammates I always expect to be to stupid to crouch
Snoot owners are always fun, unless they're new to her, which then often end in mori/noed.
Freddies are always fun police, with 2+ slowdown or annoying add ons and consistent mori's.
Demos are always the guys who don't care if they do good or bad, will BM to meme and overall are fun to go against
legion will always have thana, and pop, and if you make them miss a hit in FF expect to me tunneled or proxy camped
I don't see enough plagues to make one, but I always expect my teammates to cleanse, and the plague to be running thana and play half decent mostly.
Davids are just, how are they so stupid, so consistently????
Doctors always tunnel when newer, and when better are honestly some of the most annoying games to play
Michaels are always moreso decent, or memers, which always lead to a f un match full of jumpscares and "OH HE WaS STALKING US"
Nurses are either babys or gods. No inbetween.
Wraiths, base cosmetic, will invisi-camp. With P3 cosmetics or pricey cosmetics, will play better, but probably try to play like TRU3
Ghostfaces are always sweaty. Not necessarily good, but sweaty.
Most Neas are wannabe Ussylis and Boob3
Dwights are either hidden gods or suck
megs, oh god, they're megheads everytime.
claudette you can count on being useless, unless theyre running some premium cosmetic. Then its a 50/50 idf theyre good,
Jakes are either ascended survivors, monto impersonators, or memers
Aces are confident, and somehow will do great on loops they should suck at, and suck at loops that are braindead easy
Bills are new, or day-1 vets.
Fengs are Neas, but asian.
Laurie you can count on having DS and the confidence behind having old DS, but never having the skill to back old DS
Davids are stoopid
Quentins, I dont see any
Dont see any tapps
Kates are always annoying
Adams ALWAYS EITHER HAVE PEBBLE OR DELIVERANCE
The rest I dont really have stereotypes.
Sorry, I actually have more questions.
How do you decide whether someone is good with a flashlight based on their cosmetics?
What kind of toxic behaviour do you expect from bad Hillbillys during the endgame?
By "trap camping" as Hag, do you mean placing traps around hooked survivors?
What kind of BM do you get from meming Demos?
What do you mean by Jakes being "ascended"?

Since the change to Doc I expect all docs to be running either Iridescent king/queen and I am pleasantly surprised when that is not the case. I also expect power spamming. In this way I find him very obnoxious.
As many have said I expect Leatherface to camp, proxy or otherwise and to be the most likely to have Franklins.
Spirit means tunnelcity.
A lot of Huntresses and Legions seem easy to trigger even without bming as if they take your evasion personal.
Ghostfaces seem more likely to joke around with you.
Trappers the most benevolent.
Clowns for me have been the most toxic.
Blendies are nearly almost guaranteed to let you rot on hook while never getting chased.
Prestige 3 on almost any character usually means a hider and not a runner. Bright clothes are your runners. I even switch to Nea when I mean business after a series of bad games.
I have a prejudice against Jakes I am working on. Been burned by them too many times and can be overly critical of their motives.
Neas on Xbox to urban evade everywhere. Neas on PC to be an anklebreaker.
Good chance Megs are walking half the match to save SB.
Not really a killer bias but if the offering is Cut Coin or Hawkins I brace for a rough match. Cut Coin for toxic and Hawkins for crapshow.
What kind of experiences have you had that have made you prejudiced against Jakes?
Also, could you explain what an anklebreaker is? I'm a bit behind on the lingo, apparently!

I agree with you, I don't expect people with Prestige to play better. Might be because I think Prestige is useless and don't prestige my characters anymore, but especially on non license characters I can't understand going for Prestige Outfits when they have so many more interesting ones in the shop. To be honest, if the Player with Prestige has an open profile and I can see they have only a few hours, I presume they have poor jugdement. (I think it can be a different case with Prestige on Killers.)
To the other questions: Like many others I expect LF to camp, also the Hag. Nurses and (spirits) tend to be really sweaty imo, I don't think any Killer is more likely to meme from my experience.
Dread would be to harsh to say, but I'm a bit suspicious of blendettes (because some of them do nothing) and Davids (because some of them farm for wglf).
I expect people with basic outfits (and Prestige in some cases) to be newer and less experienced and I expect blendettes to be bad at Looping.
I don't tunnel or let people live based on a certain cosmetic.
You say that you expect people with prestige to be new in certain cases. Would you be able to elaborate on what those cases are - when do you judge someone with prestige to be a new player, and when do you assume differently?

Blendettes are useless.
Nancys are the "megheads" for me.
Survivors with bright outfits are usually the toxic ones and will dc if you outplay them. Bonuspoints if they stay for the rest of the game to yell at you in the endgamechat.
Jeffs are not toxic.
Sorry, going through the responses for my project and I have another question - how do you define a Blendette? Is it just by their cosmetics, or do you wait to see how they behave in the match?

24 metres is a tile and a half. I don't know if that helps much, but if you understand roughly where the tile borders sit, you can judge it that way.

Your post has prompted me to make a few additions to my OP.
You were right. I did make quite a few assumptions. I was trying to be brief while still keeping my overall explanation intact. As far as time to kill is concerned, I probably should have given a few examples. In all honesty, I was attempting to keep my post from becoming a wall of text.
Anyways, many of the concerns you had have been addressed in an edited version of my original post. Instead of having you reread the entire post, I'll list a few of them here. 😅
Examples of variables that affect TTK:
- Number of attacks required to inflict Dying State (Exposed, Broken, Saws, Oni, Trapper's Traps)
- Time between attacks (Save The Best For Last, Huntress hatchet followed by melee attack)
- Gap closers (Oni Dash, Nurse Blink, Demo Lunge, Freddy Snare, Hag Traps, etc.)
- Ability to preemptively break Pallets (Billy Saw, Demo Lunge)
Many players have decided that rank (the emblem system) is no longer a priority and/or rewarding pursuit. I can only speak from my own experiences, but many Killers I've faced haven't been concerned with rank. They've wanted to secure a 4k as easily and as quickly as possible. I know it may be a leap, but I'd wager many of them find more satisfaction in fulfilling the killer fantasy (killing everyone/4k) than they do in post match emblems and scoring. I understand that there is a possibility that a silent majority does find satisfaction in the emblem system. With that in mind, I did mean for kills to be considered the win condition.
Thanks for including the info in the comment, I appreciate it 😊 And also for clarifying what you're defining as the win condition. As I said, I happen to agree with you, but I have run into a lot of people that would passionately disagree, so it's good to set that baseline.
It sounds like Time to Kill could be otherwise described as Chase Length or Chase Potential (the ability to end chases quickly). In that case, I would like to suggest an additional factor to be considered, which is passive slowdown ability (the ability to put pressure on the survivors indirectly, such as through the use of Pig's bear traps or by forcing them to mend as Legion). It's not as important as some of the others, but it is still relevant, I think.
-
It's definitely been mentioned - multiple times daily, in fact. As stated above, there are some issues present in the current matchmaking system, but there is a replacement in the works. As a resident of Kangaroo Land, I have heard of Candyman, but only in the same offhand way that I've heard about a lot of other horror icons, since I don't tend to seek that stuff out. In other words, I'd heard the name before, but knew absolutely nothing about the character or the franchise.

Nothing. But how about remove the option to leave the game if you don't want them to in the first place? Seems like that should line up with DC penalties.
The option is there to facilitate leaving the game under circumstances where it's appropriate, such as if the player has a real-life emergency to attend to, or if they are stuck in a gamebreaking bug and can't leave the match by other means.
-
You can search in the Bug Reports subforum (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs) to find out if it has been reported and/or acknowledged by the devs.
If you can't find it, it would be a good idea to make a report about it over there so that the relevant parties will see and be able to fix it.
-
None of the ones I've spoken to seem to be. The general impression I get is that they're mainly concerned with making the game more enjoyable for everyone, which makes sense because that's in the best interests of the game's health and therefore of BHVR as a business. Players tend to jump to the conclusion that the developers favour the other side when they don't feel personally listened to, and that's by no means limited to DBD. It's the same in the Dark Souls community - the Japanese players think the developers only listen to the Western audience, and the Western players think they only listen to the Japanese audience, when the truth is they don't really listen very much to either.

Thanks for the link, but if I read it right that’s from January 27th? Almost four months is a very long time to have this bad of a matchmaking system. Is there a time frame for when this might be implemented?
Yeah, it has been quite a while, but they're definitely still working on it. Last we heard, they're at the live-testing stage, which I think is close to the end, so if all goes well hopefully it will be ready to implement soon.

If that’s why they plan on doing, then rip the last of this games player base. That wouldn’t fix anything and as complex of a game as this is, could you imagine being a new player thrown into games with ppl that high? It’d be like rocket league or overwatch going against grand champs and diamonds. It just wouldn’t be fun or even playable.
It's not what they plan on doing, that's a conspiracy theory made up by players with no basis whatsoever. They're replacing ranks with an MMR system, which is planned to not only be a more accurate reflector of player skill, but also rewards or punishes players proportionally to the difference in skill between them and their opponents (for example, you will lose fewer MMR points if you lose to an opponent who is better than you are). You can find more information about the upcoming changes in this post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/status-update-matchmaking-changes

It's expected to roll out when it's ready. No one other than the devs themselves has any more information than that. What we do know is that it's in active development, and last we heard they were in the process of conducting live tests.
-
"It" is referring to the license in this case, so that is the appropriate pronoun to use either way, since "license" is not a gendered word. One could make a case for the use of an apostrophe where there shouldn't be one there as evidence for Pennywise, but given BHVR's track record with grammar (exhibit A being the in-game lore), it's far more likely that's just an error.
-
Yes - what they did is considered griefing and working with the killer, which is absolutely bannable. Assuming you reported them after the game (which is compulsory, otherwise the team won't be able to track them down), you can submit additional evidence, such as that video, to the Support team via this link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426
The chat stuff unfortunately is not reportable to BHVR, since they have no jurisdiction over anything that happens outside their game. However, you can report those things to Sony through their own chat report system.
-
There are both counters and penalties for camping - killers are penalised in the Chaser emblem for every second they spend in close proximity to a hooked survivor, and the main counter is to scare the killer away from the hook by doing generators, although things like Borrowed Time and Styptic Agents can also work. It sucks to be the hooked player, but if the survivors play it right, they'll only get one kill.
The only reason killers camp, outside of personal vendettas, is because survivors feed into it. If survivors consistently refuse to reward them for camping, that killer is never going to rank up, so eventually they'll change their playstyle when they realise that this one isn't very rewarding.
-
Based on the description of Mettle of Man, I'm going to guess that it won't activate with Borrowed Time, but it won't be deactivated either (meaning it will still work the next time the proper conditions are met). Mettle of Man activates on hits which would put you into the dying state from the injured state. If you get hit while you have Enduring, that won't put you into the dying state, hence no MoM, and if you're Deeply Wounded, you're not technically in the injured state, so it wouldn't activate then either. The only way MoM would work after being unhooked with BT, in theory, would be if the killer waited out the Endurance timer before hitting you.

@Musicalhex said:
I'm not really here to argue if Wraith is good or bad compared to others but I just wanna say that people have different thoughts on what a win is. Some consider not depipping a win, or getting 4 bbq stacks, others simply considers having fun as good enough for a win, etc. So it can be tricky to discuss about stuff like this when no one is on the same page lol
That was my first thought as well, but he got 3-4 kills every game, so that's a win under the other most popular definition of winning as well (kills and pips being the two camps - even though there are people who have specific goals for a personal win, kills and pips are the only arguments I've really heard for how a win is defined on an impersonal level, according to the design of the game itself).
@ars_perfecta That said, I would be interested to see if the experiment is repeatable using no add-ons, or if you only count red-ranked games. Simply because you mentioned the way Wraith is often ranked on tier lists, and I think often those lists are intended to represent the strength of a killer's basekit, and typically assume that the killers in question are being matched with survivors of their own rank, which could explain the disparity between that and your own experience (since you were using rare or higher add-ons in every one of those games, and often were matched with purple or even green ranks).
-
That's bannable behaviour, so reporting them should do something if you did it correctly. You have to report them after the game, and also send video evidence of them working with the killer to the Support team via this link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426

Or start banning more harshly for people who cinstantly dc
Sure, I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea. I was just explaining how it's possible, in theory, to punish someone without shaming them, because the person I was replying to didn't seem to understand the distinction and was suggesting that dealing out punishment while not wanting to shame anyone was hypocritical or contradictory in some way.
-
@Dolls said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1273100#Comment_1273100
Whats the difference as far as DC?
Well, the DC system as it currently stands is a punishment, because it is designed to serve as retribution for the player's behaviour and encourage them to reflect on the consequences of their actions. The player may feel shame, and should, because shame is the correct emotional response to having done something wrong, but they are not being shamed, because shame is the response, not the intent. If the system were shaming players, it would be ridiculing or publicly disgracing them in some way.
When a parent punishes a disobedient child, they are disciplining the child for the good of themselves and others, so that they understand that what they did was not okay. But that punishment (at least if the parents are good parents) doesn't involve ridiculing the child or trying to make them feel worse about themselves as a person. That's the distinction between the two.
-
@Dolls said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1273034#Comment_1273034
Then why punish at all if they are against shaming?
Because there's a difference between disciplining bad behaviour and shaming the culprit.
-
It's not true that reporting players gets you nowhere, but you will need to have reported them in the scoring screen after the game. You will also need their platform IDs - I'm not sure precisely how that works if they were hacking cross-platform, but since you're on Xbox their names (Gamertags) should be good enough. You'll also need video evidence, which it sounds like you have. If you did report them after the game, you can submit evidence to back up your report via a Support ticket at this link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=191426
-
It has been confirmed as a bug, which means they're working on fixing it. Creating duplicate reports won't make that process go any faster.
-
It has been confirmed to be a bug, yes.

@Fixmatchmaking said:
So it can't be modified with some variables? The entire system has to be tossed out... Hard to believe.
For people who don't do a lot of programming, the complicated process that bug fixing can be is sometimes hard to believe, yes. It's rarely a matter of just modifying a few variables.
But no, they're not overhauling the system because it's bugged. They're overhauling the system because its design was flawed to begin with and a new matchmaking system is the best way to ensure a more positive gameplay experience in the long run.
-
I'm not particularly emotionally invested in either possibility, but being so objective, I do think the evidence for Candyman is more compelling. Two of the pieces of "evidence" in that Reddit post have one huge flaw, as pointed out in the comments - Pyramid Head is not owned by Kojima, so they are not who BHVR would be approaching to acquire his license. Also, that "huge offer" was received barely a month ago, which is way too short a time for a killer that's due to be released a few weeks from now to be in development. Yes, the 4 resembles his head, but the idea that it resembles the poster for the upcoming Candyman film (not in its exact shape necessary, but stylistically) is almost as compelling. Plus, there's all the bee references that have been made by BHVR over the last couple of months.
I know a lot of people want Pyramid Head, but I think they might be trying to read too far into something that isn't there. Of course, this is all still speculation, and I could very well be proven wrong when the chapter comes out.
-
I'd love to see this.
But how would poor @samination cope?
-
Buy her if she seems like fun. I enjoy her, as do a lot of other people, but it depends what sort of playstyle you personally find fun. Pig is good at stealth, passive slowdown, and mindgames at most loops. If that sounds like fun to you, go ahead and get her!
The one thing I would recommend against is buying anything because you think it's powerful, since this is a live game and everything in it has the potential to be buffed, nerfed or reworked in the future.

They don't look military-grade, and I'm not sure why he'd bother to wear protective clothing if he's not planning or expecting to be attacked himself, but it's impossible to tell for sure.

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you want my opinion, then yeah that could be a nice buff, although I'm not sure if it needs it - the impression I get is that the devs are deliberately making sabotage difficult and costly to prevent it from becoming too prevalent a strategy.

That doesn't mean they are actually leather though. They could be made of anything. I have a pair of motorcycle gloves I am pretty confident I could just run my hand along a kitchen knife with. Especially if I had a stainless steel mesh inner glove on as well ( I said pretty confident 😅).
If he's wearing tactical gloves, it's possible, but they look very much like ordinary leather. They have a bit of padding in parts, but even so, that's not likely to be a good defense against a tactical knife (which is what Ghostface uses - unlike a kitchen knife, it's razor-sharp and designed for inflicting lethal wounds).
-
Apparently, it was designed that way very intentionally. The idea is that the fact that the perk is on a cooldown makes sabotaging a hook that the killer is coming towards a much risker play. It's essentially a trade-off - you risk disabling the perk temporarily for the possibility that you might be able to prevent someone getting hooked. It also means you can't go around sabotaging every hook in a particular area to create a dead zone, unless you have a toolbox (which, of course, has limited uses).
-
@TheOneTrueTristan said:
I think Distortion has way more utility in the fact that you can figure out if a killer has aura reading perks in the first place so that you can play accordingly. For example, if a stack gets eaten when someone gets hooked far away, you now know the killer has BBQ without becoming a victim to it. Now you can try and preserve stacks for when ya need em by getting in a locker or getting closer or just let it eat a second stack.
I guess you're whispers suggestion would be fine but I feel it would become a slippery slope of determining what should and shouldn't trigger Distortion. Also it would have to be one or the other. No way is a perk getting not only another trigger, but more stacks AND replenishing stacks.
I have no proof of this, but its design would suggest that that's how it's meant to be used. Not as a stealth perk, but as an information-gathering perk. If you lose a stack while healing or being healed, you know the killer has Nurse's Calling. If you lose a stack after completing a generator, you know they have Bitter Murmur. And so on.

Well, in the movies he is wearing what appears to be pretty light fabric. But the ghostface outfit in DBD looks like pretty thick leather. There's plenty of cheap kitchen gloves you can grab knives with in the same way ghostface cleans the blade, let alone something more expensive.
Grabbing a blade is very different. Grabbing the blade of a knife or sword is perfectly safe if you're wearing gloves, as long as you don't run your hand along it. That will slice you hand (and any thin leather gloves you may be wearing, as in Ghostface's case) open. If knives didn't cut through leather easily, leatherworkers wouldn't use them for that exact purpose.

It's not fair. So it's lucky they're working on it as we speak.

What bothers me the most is the way Ghostface cleans his blade. I know it's a callback to the films, but I've never seen him do it in the films in such a way that he's likely to slice his hand open in the process. I'm going to guess that BHVR's modelling/animation staff just don't do a lot of blade-wielding.

As long as you stunned him with a pallet twice in the same match, it should have registered for the challenge. If you only stunned him once, the challenge progress will stay at zero because it has to be completed in a single trial, but otherwise it sounds like a bug. I would encourage you to make a post about it in the Bug Reports subforum (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs).
Make sure to include as many potentially relevant details as possible, such as the fact that he was in Demon Fury at the time, as well as the platform you were playing on.
