Most people don't even jump into lockers. Instead they complain for killer nerfs instead of using the built in counters. The expose duration doesn't last long so it's only good if someone jumps into a locker during a chase.
-
I think they are trying to stay away from challenges that require licensed killers. Yes he is partially created by BHVR but you can't buy him with shards. They don't own the rights to the costume and the mask so they have to charge real money for him. They already got complaints with this archive which requires the doctor and spirit. They can be purchased with shards but they don't come with the game. Not everyone has them. People who don't have them feel if they want to advance the archive they had to fork over more money. If GF has stuff in the archive people will have to pay extra.
-
I don't think they can add useful perks at this point. When they design new perks, I hope, they take into account what will happen if they mix them with the current meta. Otherwise you get stuff like old MoM.

The ps4 hasn't been officially jail broken yet.. hackers and modders are not a problem on the current gen. The only cheats available are exploits in game depending on the title.
There is jail break / custom firmware available but it can only be used offline. Consoles with tampered firmware are unable to connect to online services.
However some PC players have found a way to connect to ps4 and xbox matchmaking with the new dedicated servers. This isn't the first post about this js
As for the "PC players hacking the game and playing against console players" part. I kind of want to see top tier console survivors go against a god nurse whose on pc >.>

That's not the reason killer is stressful. Killer is stressful because if you make one mistake, or if one thing goes wrong for you with RNG, you lose.
Reminds me of Evolve only in reverse. If you were a hunter, part of the 4, if one person made a mistake it was over. Just a domino affect from there. That game was built for friends, not solos. You could have some fun match ups but hardly with randoms.

Unless you have the skill, item and perks to do the save. Example: 1 guy face camped, 2 friends doing gens, I go with flashlight, blind the face camper with my flashlight, unhook with BT, take a hit, and in case he wants me now use my DH to keep up the loops.
If I got downed by bubba, he takes me to the basement, he doesn't leave, doesn't take his finger off the chainsaw AND I'm running Kindred. There is zero excuse to let that douche bag get more kills. Not everyone needs to get out. Don't let noob killers like that rank up. It only lead to more survivors whining and leading to more killer nerfs.

Nurse got overnerfed for learning nurse players. I can hit my blinks, so i'm only affected by the various bugs.
Spirits addons got a MASSIVE nerf. That was good. Her basekit nerfs were not needed. (no collision and window vaulting animation)
Oni on PC was horrible. It was a ~40° flick before the buff.
I was a good nurse but I wasn't a god nurse. Now with the cd, while I feel it isn't that bad, I feel it. Without add ons it takes me longer to patrol the map. It is very unforgiving if you miss a blink. The survivors can run in a straight line and you need to blink, recharge blink just to catch up to them. As nurse now it feels like I'm either crushing the survivors or I am getting crushed. There is very few moments where I feel it's not one sided.
-
If the killer is face camping do the gens and get out. Don't let this scummy tactic pay off.
-
If he was stronger I wouldn't be surprised if they give trapper's traps a cd. Have to wait 30 seconds before planting another trap -.-

I had a bad game as Hag on the swamp map. Got a few hooks but gens were flying. They opened the gate near the shack and waited. I managed to down 1 before she got to the gate. I put her in the shack. They all tried to body block me but no luck. I got most survivors injured and one on the hook. They save her right in front of me and she body blocks with BT. They get to the gate and realize I was running BW. Priceless!!!!!!!
Turned 0k into 3k with that /kefka laugh
Maybe a point penalty for sitting at the gates for too long? Like when a killer refuses to leave a hook.
-
I tried playing killer again. Been to R1 a few times but I feel I don't belong there. I tend to play till like purple ranks. I don't want to have to try hard all the time. I want to mess around with non-meta killers and builds. When i came back to killer it was a long break. Just after the Nurse rework. I deranked back to 18. I had several matches where it was all purple/red survivors. If I was a new killer I certainly wouldn't be playing this game when I saw this match making.
I don't even want to play killer anymore because the option to mess around isn't there anymore. Every match is a gamble of what quality survivors I will get. Before if I stopped playing and came back I wouldn't have to worry about getting paired with red survivors until I ranked up again. Now I'm getting reds most of my matches at yellow. I just got back to green and it's like I never left r1. It feels like a slap to the face from the game. Like a drill instructor saying "I don't give a #@$% about your fun maggot! I got 4 other people who've been waiting for 10 minutes. Take one for the team!" Well I've been taking one for the team over and over. Now I'm sick of it. See you in Warhammer 2.
-
You don't have to run bbq or wglf. It's not like old ruin where some killers literally needed it. Personally I run whispers over bbq.
Anyway the devs aren't going to make it base kit. That means everyone will have it all the time. That cuts down on the grind which is good for players but bad for developers. They won't put in anything that speeds up how fast their player basis will "play something else".

When I'm running my farming build I am too altruistic. I always run BT so almost no save is unsafe. However there are times when I run across the map to save someone only to find someone else was closer. I could have stayed on my gen. When the gates are open, if the killer has a one shot, all bets are off. You gotta know when to hold them and when to fold them.
I've had 1 person in the basement against a trapper when the gates were open. I left. Ironically I was the only one who escaped. The 2 that attempted a rescued got added to the basement. Then they start yelling at me. Even if I helped it would have been hook swapping. Not everyone was making it out.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/133198/what-did-survivors-get-nerfed
Pallets needed to be nerfed for real balance. Pallet vacuum and double pallets literally had no mind games, literally no counter play unless the survivor was a complete potato. Plus, if one pallet can waste 30 seconds of time for a killer, imagine two, and that's just counting one loop.
Gens also needed to be nerfed, no regression to gens also had no counter play. People could 99 gens and at that point, the killer has to rely on the survivors dropping the ball in order to gain momentum.
Infinites needed to be nerfed. Literally being unable to catch someone even with bloodlust was just way too broken. No mind games to infinites, just don't mess it up and the killer literally cannot get to you.
As the comments above have mentioned, Nurse, Spirit, and Legion and Oni got nerfed to the point where people rarely play them now. Perhaps the most disheartening of them is Oni. I love how the Devs can support survivors being able to 360 yet apparently Oni isn't even allowed to do a simple 180 flick. Not biased at all. The one good thing Oni had that didn't require survivors being potatoes and it gets reduced to 90 degrees. And this isn't recent nor is it something that directly nerfed killers but it was huge blob of buffs to survivors, it was called 1.9.2. No timing required on flashlight or pallet saves, insta blinds, increased size of pallet hitbox, Nurse being able to get stunned by pallets mid blink, etc. The sad thing was, the Devs actually considered all of that to be balance, and they still do. They only removed all of that because the killers started leaving and queue times reached an all time high, and understandably so. I wouldn't be surprised if the Devs pulled another 1.9.2. Actually, I'm expecting it with the way things have been going.
Recently, besides the aforementioned nerfs, Freddy's slowdown add-ons got nerfed (even though they didn't add much time to gens, even with the Forever Freddy build), Ruin got gutted, ultimately reducing it to nothing more than the bane of green ranks who can't dedicate to gens. And now they said they plan on removing Dying Light and Thana synergy because they "want to reduce slow down perks synergizing". Who can we thank to all of this besides the Devs?
Survivors.
OMG I remember that patch. That was the patch that caused me to lose hope for this game. The idea that it was the devs who thought it was a good idea is just mind boggeling. After that it proved to me they don't play their own game.
As for the OPs question. Survivors are 4/5s their customers. The only time they give killer a bone is when they start to leave. They only buff killer when no one is playing and the survivors can;t find a match. Remember all the BS that used to happen in this game?
Infinites, pallet vacuums, double pallets, insta flashlight+medkits, recharging exhaustion perks while running, old MoM, old BNPs, DS used to be available to anyone so long as you were obsession or managed to struggle to 40%, several killers have been over nerfed. Survivor's are the majority so the devs cater to them because it's more money. Several killers get nerfed shortly after they release. Freddy being the prime example. He was garbage at release. Survivors jumped the gun and said he was OP, killers who actually used him said he was weak. Guess who the devs listened too? Killers on the other hand need to cry for 2 years to get DS reworked and it's still OP. A staple survivor perk gets reworked and it is still powerful. Ruin gets reworked and it's useless at stopping gens now. The only exception is old MoM. Though the fact they even made that perk proves they don't play killer. It was obvious when they leaked Ash's perks that was going to be OP when combined with BT, DS and adren. Even after the outrage they took their sweet time reworking it bu that could have been a waiting tactic so more survivors would buy Ash.

Hackers dont exist on Ps4 and Xbox one. The hackers in dbd are PC players.
Look at the leader boards for CoD and tell me PS4 and Xbox One don't have hackers. It may be harder for them to hack a console but it can still be done. I was a console player most of my life until I converted to the master race about 5 years ago. I saw plenty of hackers. You could easily spot them too. On xbox if someone's gamertag had 100-200 achievement points you can bet that's a hacker. Odds are they were banned before and had to make a new account. You get achievements for turning on the game. Brand new players would have more than that if they were truly playing the game.
-
I can tell you that killer probably got jack for points or didn't even get a safety. When gens are popping left and right it's better to try to damage multiple people. Hope they stop rushing gens to heal. If one person is being chased and face camped to death, you can bet the healthy survivors are repairing.
I blame match making and the devs. By removing ruin a lot of green survivors are in the red ranks. That killer probably ranked up playing against them. When he's up against real red survivors he doesn't know what to do and resorts to tunneling/face camping.
-
Those rare moments that make the survivors actually scared. Like when they teabag at the exit gates only to realize blood warden activated. Or playing as GF and getting the drop on someone.

What I like most about DbD?
Hard to tell... I like how immersive some matches feel, playing against killers with no terror radius. Even after years of playing, DbD still scares the crap out of me sometimes. :)
Until I know who the killer is I'm paranoid it's Mikey or GF. When I'm on a gen my head is on a swivel until I hear a heartbeat.

Get two teammates who kill themselves on first hook, self care in the corner of the map, drop every pallet upon their interaction button being displayed, crouch walking to unhook someone, too scared to touch a gen so they hide in a locker.... and then come back and post about how less stressful it is as a survivor.
The fact that as killer you don't have to rely on someone else to eff up makes a huge difference and takes off some of the stress weight alone.
Balancing the game around newbie survivors is what got us into this mess. The devs need to put their foot down and tell these people to git gud. Instead of making it easier for them. Every time they give a buff to help the new or crappy survivors this makes the good survivors even stronger and screws with the balance. If your playing survivor and losing you feel that you can improve. As killer however it feels like even if you improve it is still an uphill battle. There's somethings you simply can't improve because it's 4 v 1 and not all killers are equal. Many lack map pressure or the ability to end chases quickly unless the survivor makes a mistake. The problem with modeling a game around one side making mistakes is what happens when they make zero mistakes? Your at a disadvantage and there's not much you can do when the game is designed that way.

By swapping it out for Lithe.
I use to prefer lithe over SB because I had more control over it. I was free to run around without getting exhausted. My problem was I couldn't find a vault when I needed it. I have a terrible habit of running to the worse areas as survivor. Id fast vault for lithe and I would run to a dead zone. That could be solved with windows of opportunity or better routing. I found SB gave me a better chance to get to a pallet/vault before the killer got that first hit. It also helped against stealth killers. Gave me a chance to escape before they got a hit on me.

Why not Laurie, Bill, and David mains as well? I honestly would still play Nea if I got urban all the time.
I think if we had unique abilities per survivor, majority of people would run Laurie for built in DS, Claudette for SC+botany and camouflage. NO ONE would run David cause he would come with No Mither lol

This happened to me tonight as well twice by billy. Killers are ######### babies. Survivors take our nerfs like a man repeated nerfs and killers get one nerf to hex ruin and go off the deep end. Its really quite pathetic. There has been a influx of this type of behavior since ruin was rightfully nerfed. Which to be honest hex ruin was a complete and absolute joke and was why i quit the game in the first place i came back because its gone finally. LIKE 1 perk 1 perk and they cry. Survivors have had multiple nerfs repeat over and over patch after patch to our main perks.
Oh please. Every nerf survivors get this forum blows up with cry babies. The difference is majority of the survivor nerfs are justified. The ruin nerf was not. Look at the current duration of matches and tell me it was wise for the devs to remove ruin without addressing the core issue it barely covered up. I bet you still think you should be allowed to vault windows countless times, have insta heal medkits and instant blind flash lights, or you should recharge sprint burst while running?
Most buffs killers get are met with a shadow nerf of something else or a buff to survivors. Trapper is just now getting the ability to replant his traps without picking them up. It took them over 3 years to add that feature. DS wasn't working and they fixed that in a week. Hag still has teleport bugs.
-
I think most of our problems could be solved with some sort of oversight. A program to watch the flow of a match and alter it depending on how well or bad things are going. Like "The Director" in left4dead.
Examples
If gens are flying by and the killer has only managed to get 1 hook, increase the time to complete the next gen.
If the killer is hooking left and right, lower the time to heal/do a gen.
If 1 survivor is on a hook and the killer slugged the other 3, really up the chance to kobe.
If a survivor jumps in a locker, forcing the killer to take a DS hit, make the killer gain bloodlust faster.
Lore wise we could literally have the Entity do this. He feeds on the hope of escape and then snatching it away at the last second. It would make sense why he would give the survivors a helping hand once in awhile. Helping the killers need no explanation cause their his minions.
@ProfessorDunwich said:
Let me sum it up, as someone who plays both sides. As Killer, gens fly and you have to play dirty to stand a chance. Slugging, tunneling, camping. As Survivor, you have the deal with these tactics after waiting in long queues. Both roles have taken a major hit in enjoyment level and this got a lot worse after the Ruin nerf. We are at a crossroads. Are the devs going to fix the game or keep taking it down the same path?
Flashlights were OP as #@$% until Kote played and got his ass handed to him. Then they finally nerfed them. I say playing the game is constructive compared to looking at baseless stats.
-
Id rather a few innocent people getting a soft ban once in awhile then no one getting a ban at all. I feel the suicide on hook issue needs to be addressed but it's a step in the right direction. It's better than when people dc'ed for all their bullshit reasons and got away with it.
I don't like this killer. DC!
Ruin wasn't found within the first 20 secs. DC!
I got found first. DC!
The killer tunneled me. DC!
I missed my ds. DC!
The killer hit me. DC!
If your having constant connection/technical issues that result in you dc'ing accidentally I hope you can work those out. If you can't maybe this isn't the game for you?
-
I think were at a point where they literally can't add any good perks because mixing them with the current meta would be game breaking. I felt old MoM (by itself) was an okay perk. It was broken when mixed with bt, ds, adren. Which is why I think we need to put perks into categories and limit how many we can equip.
Like assign 1 perk slot to 2nd chance perks so survivors can't stack up on them. Do the same for gen stopping perks for killer.
-
I think if we had a match history it would only further show how broken match making is.
First match
r1,r3,r6,r7 vs r15
Second match
r2,r2,r3,r17 vs r14
ect

I don't get why survivors all don't have an ability that's not teachable an unique to the character. That of survivors should straight up get 5 perks
You gotta remember there's 4 survivors to the 1 killer. That's 16 perks to 4. The killer is suppose to be powerful because it's 4v1. A lot of survivors have this impression that you should be able to go 1 on 1 with the killer and stand a chance. Your not suppose too because the killer is out numbered.
-
I feel there is zero negative for being the obsession. If anything it's a positive. The killer is likely to avoid you to build stacks of pwyf or to keep stacks of stbfl. The only time it's a danger is if the killer is running rancor.
-
I no longer use DH to bait a swing. I use it to give me that extra distance to get to a pallet/vault. Most killers assume your running dh so they just get close and wait for you to use it before swinging. It really sucks when your facing a Billy or LF that never M1's.
-
I believe in the beginning of dbd, the killer has all the power. However once your experienced the game flips on it's head and the survivors hold all the power. That's why I hate it when the devs cater to the new players. They have all the tools needed to escape they just don't want to learn.

Rewards failure?
Have you played after rank reset? Where 95% of killers just tunnel off hook?
How is the survivor meant to defend themself when the killer just proxy camps the hook waiting for the tunnel?
Get better at looping? Dont get seen by the killer? Play with friends?
If the killer face camps you to death, provided your team knows what to do, that killers gets 1k and not even a safety if you punish him. If your teammates are idiots who cant do gens, make safe saves or know when to cut your loses, dont nerf the killer.
-
I think scarier topic is "which killer is getting nerfed next chapter?"
As for bubba I admit he needs something but chainsaw sprinting over vaults would make him unstoppable. Maybe give him a gen teleport like Freddy? That alone did wonders for his map pressure.
-
Pipping is useless in match making as killer. No matter what your rank is, if survivors are waiting long enough, they will throw you at whoever is in the front of the line.
I've has some games where I only got 2k, several hooks, hits, and I barely got a pip. Yet I've had games where I 4ked because they kept screwing up and I didn't even get a safety. This often happens when I play trapper and I face potato survivors. I hook one person in the basement, they don't check the floor, step in traps. I kill all 4 but because they stepped in traps my chaser is bronze so the game thinks I played poorly.

I mean, if you enjoy blissfully ignoring the point and making a comparison which doesn't correlate; sure.
People who would DC will just suicide on hook now. DC rates down. And that's all BHVR will ever care about and they'll completely ignore hook suicides.
I've lost faith in these devs when they released the QoL patch for flashlight and pallet stun times. Thank the entity they reverted that patch but the very fact that they thought it was a good idea just blew my mind. Any issues they address I don't expect them to fix it. I expect them to make a mediocre change to say they did something.
As for the phrase I mentioned that has no correlation. I meant something good is happening but for the wrong reason. DC is down but now people are hook suiciding. It hasn't gotten better.

Just because surviviors have DS doesnt mean NOED is completely fine. Both DS and NOED need changes, because they are both unfair and annoyimg to play against.
- NOED has the strongest cleansing protection of all perks
- NOED does not require ANY sort of build up or preparation (tokens or sum shiet)
- Despite points 1 and 2, NOED still has the strongest effect in the game (exposed + haste)
- It slows down the game by over 80 seconds, yet its treated as an endgame perk
- Its impossible to know if the perk is in play or not, so most of the time you counter non existent perk.
- In comparision, Devour Hope is weaker in points 1 and 2, it has THE SAME or even weaker effect (point 3). That alone proves its not 100% right, its stronger than similiar perks for no reason.
So whats MY problem with NOED? I dont have a problem with cleansing protection alone, but it should require effort from killer too. There should be some sort of token system that would control the power of the perk.
There are 2 reasoms for that
- Making NOED bad option for hard campers, who exploit the perk the most
- Making NOED possible to discover by surviviors who are waching the killer closely and will notice when they are collecting tokens for NOED. For example like when you can see the killer has Devor when you see them running away from the hook in panic. (This point is an "additional objective", its not necessary)
How would I fix NOED?
Make NOED only usable on people you have hooked before (like Moris are now)
Requires no effort? How is that any different from DS or adrenaline? There's nothing a killer can do to prevent DS from every happening. Slugging isn't the answer. It is still preventing you from doing your objective. You can choose not to tunnel but time and again it's been proven, the person with DS active decides to get in the killers face. Either by wasting their time or making a hook save right in front of them.

All of the crutch perks that ruin game flow need to be nerfed. That includes Noed and DS.

Either way these dc'ers won't be missed.

BBQ has so many counters that you have no right to complain about it. You can run distortion, you can get in a locker or even hide your aura behind a gen. The entire reason they introduced BBQ is to try to get killers to stop camping. Thank the devs for their shortsightedness.
BBQ and gens speeds have nothing in common. BBQ does absolutely nothing to slow down gens speeds. BBQ is only really good on high mobility killers, which there are few. Majority of people who run it use it for the BP gain. Play killer at red ranks for a few days and then tell me how broken BBQ is.

And DS is like NOED to killers. You'd be surprised at how many people DON'T DO bones. They just dont want to. Besides if they start nerfing that ######### on survivors they need to start Nerfing ######### on killers perks as well :D yall already got the toolbox nerf..soooooooooooo what more do you want? Survivors to not have any arms or legs?
I used to side with killers, lately nope. I feel no pitty for yall what so ever. Keep crying about perks that will ALWAYS be in the game.
Noed at least has a solid counter even before it comes into play. DS doesnt really have that. Slugging doesnt help because its still slowing down your objective. Cleansing bones can slow down the survivors objective but there's 4 survivors. They can share the burden. There's no one else to do the killers job.

tough call, i think it has something to do with 4x survivors have the ability to generate 4x the profit, whereas 1x killer can only buy 1x cosmetics ;)
I would also say it's BS and needs tweaking, I don't even run it for its intended purpose, I use it specifically to hook trade with BT.
It's better than it was. I think if they made it so it wears off if your healed or the killer hooked someone else, then it would be perfect.

Gotta take that risk, If you have the ability to take the 6 second stun, then do it. Just know that's 6 seconds that will either go to a gen or them to get distance on you. They can only unbreakable 1 time a game, and if a friend comes to aid them, then they are off a gen doing that.
Its still a bs perk that rewards failure and everyone runs it. More than 80% of the survivor community uses it. Why hasn't that been given the ruin treatment?
-

I mean you don't HAVE to grab them. You can wait it out. You an slug. You can't eat it early. You can not tunnel. You have options.

this game dies in 2 months, dunno why you talking about 2 years LOL.
On topic: if you are in an advantageous position as killer, just call their bluff and eat the DS 1% of the time they might actually miss it too. If it is already endgame and you have lost, you can just wait out the timer in the locker, or fake walking away and try to slug if they attempt to get out slowly (lust make sure you lunge and not tap M1).
I only see newbs miss ds and those players tend to lose even with that perk. Its the veterans that never miss thats the problem. I can hook someone, go after another person, hook them, then the first survivor makes a save, I go after them and DS is still active. I clearly went after someone else after I hooked them so I wasnt tunneling yet I still have to play around it. The only time I like DS lockers is when im trapper but thats more of shits and giggles. They can step in the thing and force me to slug or if Im gone they can get out before I get back.
As for 2 years. The perk came out about that time ago and it took them THIS long to rework it. It's not like MoM which took them a month. They took their sweet time with DS. This game isn't going to die in 2 months. We've been saying that for awhile. So long as they continue to draw in new players who dont realize its broken they'll stay in business.

This topic has been brought up many many times. But it's a staple survivor perk so they won't touch it for at least another 2 years. It's like turning off aim assist in a FPS. If they did that soooo many people would suddenly suck and they'll stop playing. BHVR won't risk losing 4/5's of their customers.

If console players played against PC players they would get slaughtered. Can you imagine console players being matched against a god nurse whose playing on a pc?

At this stage in the game, it's probably hard to make perks for either side. When you make a perk your not just making it for that 1 person. You have to consider what people who have every other perk in the game are going to mix with it. Old MoM for example. That perk was broken before it arrived. However I felt by itself it was okay. If MoM was your only 2nd chance perk it would have been tolerable. Naturally when it got here, people mixed it with every other 2nd chance perk and it had to be reworked. Which is why I feel they are releasing crappy perks because they can't think of something that won't be abused. Which is why I think we need restrictions on how many types of perks we can bring into a match.
Look at Overwatch. They had such a hard time balancing characters around the 4 tanks, 2 healers meta. Until finally they snapped and they forced 2 dps, 2 support, 2 tanks comp.

Skill is not a question. The game is broken. Killers have to use meta perks, meta killers, 3 gen, and anything else I didn't mention to stand a chance. Killers success depends not on his skill but by the survivors skill. If the survivors make zero mistakes and decide to rush gens the killer is at an extreme disadvantage. Git Gud does not apply if your game doesn't work.
