  • Those moments are rare but sweet. When the devs finally made it so a dead survivor can't see the killers perks till the match is over. I said "I'm using BW more often now" If only we could do something about survivors 99%ing a door.

I like to keep fit while playing dbd but I was briefly distracted by the sudden appearance of the aurora borealis in my kitchen and instead of my jump rope I grabbed my ethernet cable. Am I to be punished for my active lifestyle?

I strongly advise to never get a vrheadset and play GORN. The trailer says it all.

    https://youtu.be/wdDLoWQK8dI

My nephew broke one of my monitors already. I installed mods and he was tossing fireballs. He's the reason they put those straps on the controllers so they don't fly out of your hands -.-

  • The devs probably just removed the rank variable from the Match Making. It's faster because the game is just throwing together the first 5 people it finds.

  • It piss's me off. All that effort wasted. The few times I lead the killer on a good chase and not a single gen popped. That's why I primarily play swf when I play survivor now. Randoms suck.

  • Please no more terminator #########. They already ruined Gears of War 5. Long story but the important part. They added 3 terminator chars to the roster for pvp and horde. When the game launched it was a terrible mess full of game breaking bugs. No single mode worked perfectly. PvP, PvE not even the single player campaign. It's been nearly 5 months and the game is still buggy. It really should have been pushed back a year and I seriously believe it was terminators fault. There was probably some fine print that said "Game has to be out before the movies release"

Terminator already ruined one of my favorite franchises, dbd is already going down the drain. Let's not give Terminator another notch on it's belt.

  • It's amazing the lies that get produced when people are suddenly held accountable for what they do.

As a purple ranked p3 claudette, my blending skills are extremely powerful and if a killer finds me, he's clearly hacking. Although previously I could just dc, BHVR now expects me to just "play the game" with obvious cheaters. They'll be hearing from my lawyers. I also want a refund on all of the many brown cosmetics I've purchased.

This was before the recent dc penalty change. I was playing Nurse long ago on legions map. I blinked through the middle building and saw a claudette by sheer coincidence. So I chased and downed that person. In the end game chat their responses were amazing

"How did you know I was there?"

"I didn't. I was teleing through the building and you just happened to be where I landed lol"

"I'm Claudette. If you saw me then you must be wall hacking. REPORTED!"

"If the killer finds you it doesn't mean he is hacking. Sometimes its luck"

    "REPORTED!!!"

Needless to say nothing happened to me. The devs probably looked at the file title, saw no video evidence and tossed it in the recycling bin.

  • I think ive only seen bad killers face camp. Most good killers understand its better use of your time to hook then find someone else.

Good survivors capitalise on face camping and complete all the gens.

  • If they aren't teasing anything then maybe there isn't a new chapter yet. Which can be a good thing. Less time spent acquiring new chapters, hopefully, means more time fixing the game.

  • If we get short killers in here I want Warwick Davis's version of the leprechaun.

  • TL:DR

He was really good with his blinks and he was downing people very fast. However surge wasn't really doing anything for him. With all the momentum he built up Ruin may have been great for him. Or at least run PGTW or Dying Light. Thrilling Tremors just helped him find survivors, it didn't regress or stop people from doing the gens they were already working on. I probably would have tossed in NC so he could see when someone was healing the downed survivors. With those distance add ons he could have made good use of MYC. Though with all the injured he probably didn't need it. Perhaps sloppy butcher?

As good as he was on blinks he had good add ons. The Nurse shouldn't need those add ons to be able to play well. Sadly that's what the devs reduced her too. I feel this vid highlights the core problem with playing killer. You can't pressure EVERYONE at once.

  • I've jumped out of a 2 story window, got halfway to the ground and the killer clipped my scalp.

I've vaulted a window, lithe kicked in, took 2 steps and that swing still connected.

Even as killer there are hits where I feel that shouldn't have connected but it did.

It's not reportable, no. Any reports for it will be discarded. We'll have it fixed before long, in any case.

It's a known exploit for survivors but there's no consequence for doing it? I seem to remember legions broken add ons for stacking mending times. The devs at least said "We're working on it and if your caught doing that you will be banned". I guess it's only report able if it helps killers.

I'm glad to hear their working on it but it still feels like one side is getting special treatment.

Possibly. There are some that are fine, but I can probably find something to say that there's a prpblem about.

I'm thinking that next should be Bubba, Pig or Ghostface.

Encase you do make one on GF I have something to say.

Survivors, stop trying to break him out of stealth. If you see ghosty, treat him like Myers and run the hell away from him. Don't stand 2 feet from him trying to reveal and then get mad when he one shots you.

  • "What would make this game scarier?"

If the killers were actually a threat to the survivors.

  • You must have been facing some potato survivors. Red Rank doesn't mean much these days lol

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

On one hand DS and BT are both anti-tunnel perks which are fine. But on the other hand it's been proven to be incredibly abusive and exploitable.

Yeah it needs to be changed because it simply has no counter in certain situations other than unnerving presence. I'd disable on locker grabs or full heals. EGC as well since a full minute of immunity means crawling out the exit gate unhindered.

And Borrowed Time I would change to swap hook states with your unhooker. Either that or unbreakable status can only be applied once per match. But along with this change I'd also have killers within 25-30 meters would slow the hook timer. So facecamping would be a huge disadvantage.

I'm actually perfectly fine with BT. Unless I'm planting a trap or I know someone is nearby I tend to hook and leave. If they unhook in front of me I assume BT+DS so I go for the rescuer. Even if BT was in play I can wait the 15 secs if I feel the need to tunnel that survivor.

  • I main trapper and most people dc when they try to loop me and step in a trap. What's better is when they ds then step in a trap >.>

  • I predict Billy gets nerfed. Survivors get more buffs, ranks are hidden and the survivor que times get even worse.

  • I'll believe it when I see it. Which I won't. You don't exactly see a dc'er get punished so you never know if it's working.

  • Just out of curiosity are you going to make "The <insert killer name> problem" for everyone on the roster? >.>

  • I see a lot of people complaining about revealing him but when I play as GF nobody has trouble revealing me. I don't have any issues revealing him if I'm playing survivor.

I think everyone complaining needs to play as him against real red ranks then come back to this thread and apologize.

  • I feel it's better than it was but it's still not balanced yet.

I hate how I have to play around it even if they aren't running it. Unlike NOED you can cancel that out before it even happens. I've had plenty of times where I hooked someone, downed+hooked someone else, the first hooked survivor goes for the save, I down them and they still have DS. I didn't tunnel and I still ate the damn thing.

I don't like how long it lasts or how safe the survivor feels when using it. It's almost as bad as old MoM just not as frequent.

It either needs to not work in lockers, wear off if you have been healed or wear off if the killer hooked someone else.

I know some survivor main is going to say "Just dont tunnel or just slug". Well what about when you hook them, leave, they get saved and they go after the killer? Are you to ignore them? You aren't suppose to willingly go towards the killer.

It's an anti tunnel perk yet it still works if your not tunneling. It's still a 2nd chance perk. The devs just changed the wording. When I play survivor I don't run it because I feel it is unfair. I'm not one of those players that whines about it when used against them but uses it every chance they get. Id rather they remove the perk all together. I can always learn to "git gud" at looping+routing.

  • Sometimes I like to mess around.

I'll run an autodidact build and act as the team healer.

I'll bring my farming build of WGLF, BT, We'll Make it if I need bloodpoints.

I'll bring a farming build like ace in the hole, pharmacy and plunderers instinct if I need medkits.

If I want to be sneaky i'll bring spinechill, UE, IW and technician to try to avoid being found. Keep in mind I still do gens even though Im being sneaky.

If I wan't a build where I try to loose the killer once found i'll bring q&q+lithe to try to break LoS after a fast vault and lose him in a chase.

Then there's the time when I feel like bringing q&q+head on+bond. I'll try to find a locker where my friends are being chased and smack the killer to get them to change targets.

It's only after I've been defeated but a try hard killer do I revert to the norm.

  • I'm surprised I didn't see 4 adrenaline's in there too lol

I beat you they are used in more than 40% of games but they wont get nerfed

Thing is that I don't want another strong killer nerf. Insta-saw is a differing matter.

What I want to see is that more killers are reworked to the level of Freddy and Doc, or released as powerful as Nurse or Spirit. That way Hillbilly will be phased out of the meta as a middle of the road killer, with a good ability.

Funny thing is that I praise Oni as being simply put, a balanced Hillbilly. You have his mobility and instant-down, but you have to work for it.

id like that too but these devs have failed my expectations time and again that i give up.

  • I don't think Killer would have time to go around breaking pallets. Were stressed for time as it is with the ruin nerf. I never had a problem with the survivors lifting a pallet. They only get the chance if I neglect to break it.

  • I disagree with most of this post but the sad truth is we all know he's going to get nerfed. He's simply next on the chopping block. It's very clear the devs prefer survivors over all else. Killer is given bits of food just to prevent them from starving so we don't "play something else"

  • Id rather the salty survivor who dc'ed "on purpose" gets banned for a day.

  • @Wesker said:

There is currently not very counterplay exept a strong killer with a mori

If they don't fix gen times all games at high ranks will be nothing but a gen rushing fest with killers sweating with moris

Im sure some survivor main is saying "Just apply pressure duh!" Not all killers can apply pressure very well and even if they can, you can't pressure all 4 at once. Unless they're stupid enough to all be standing next to each other but we all know how often real red rank survivors make mistakes.

    @DocFabron said:

The only counter is to not play an M1 killer.

  • @JordanMalicious said:

Some killers definitely needed ruin more than others. Despite whatever you think in your ivory tower at rank 3 as killer, some people enjoyed the slight buffer ruin could give at the start of a match.

If the survivor team knew what they were doing and checked totem spots, ruin would've served its purpose at slowing the game down at the start while the killer begins chases or sets up for other things.

You can work through a ruin if you're good. Take pride in it if you could actually hit those skill checks. Either way, I only use ruin (or I did, not anymore) on piggy and trapper, sometimes wraith. Really gave me an edge for about a minute before survivors cleansed.

So yeah, good job on the bait topic. Loved it.

As trapper your better off using Intervention over ruin. Blocks most gens and a guaranteed 2 min protection. Plenty of time to setup then begin chases. If they hide or do bonus objectives till it wears off that's still good for you. More traps.

What you say happens very rarely, and if you balance the game around that situation, you're gonna ruin it for a lot of people. Also, if that happens, doesn't mean you will lose the match. You can recover from that situation. I win most of my matches whitout ruin with every killer, except the weaker ones, so i think the game is somewhat fine on that aspect. (I LOVE Scott's idea about the early game, maybe they could implement it)

Yet they balance a game around newer people and that doesnt ruin the game?

Also if your using a non meta killer and the survivors have brains 3 gens popping is actually quite common. Assuming they each picked theyre own gen and they can loop.

  • When this happens to me i bring my no fun for survivors build for the next game. The thing i hate is those poor souls arent the ones to blame. They are just the unfortunates the game paired me with next. I even apologize in the chat and say i was bullied last game

  • What do you mean it's "now" time to use your keys? I've been seeing keys every now and then for some time.

  • My meta is play something else. Until they fix this MM and ranking system.

In a large majority of games I play (Mainly as Oni, Doctor, and Wraith), I can pressure all 4 Survivors by slugging and managing/zoning Survivors.

The only times I can't is when I have a bad map, or when I just am not playing well. Sometimes that happens.

Doc I could understand cause of his madness.

Oni too once you build up his power he can attempt to steam roll.

However not every killer has a power that permits them to pressure everyone. Also slugging I feel isnt helping the game. Im not saying we should never do it but if we have to slug to stand a chance I feel something is wrong with the game. We have to really go out of our way to slow the gens down. Our objective is to kill the survivors and I feel like were spending more and more time away from that.

If Tr3, Otz, Panda or whoever has 2 people in the basement they never go far. Most of the time camping is counter productive for killer. If your camping your not stopping gen progression. There are some rare occurrences where it pays off.

  • @AntiJelly said:

Slowing or speeding up the gen times based on what's being played and what's happening in the match removes skill from the game. That's training wheels.

A good Killer can pressure all 4 Survivors at once, and if the gens were sped up based on a Killer doing their job, that's unfair to the Killer. Survivors get an easier time because you're good at the game?

Same thing for Survivors. If Survivors are doing too much too quickly, the gens slow down, because the Killer needs that time? Because the Survivors were managing their time well, the Killer gets an easier game and potentially free win?

Reworking ruin because people cant hit great skill checks also removes skill from the game. Since the survivors are the majority it doesnt seem to be a problem to keep their training wheels.

I still dont believe a good killer can pressure all 4 at once. You keep saying they can but yet to give any examples.

  • As a killer main. There are times to camp and times when not to camp. I wont list all circumstances because that will take too long. You don't like it I suggest the following

    Play something else

    Git Gud

    Don't get caught

Run BT and DS and Adren(as if your not using that already)

Run Kindred. If your being face camped hopefully everyone else will know what to do(unlikely)

Stop whining for killer nerfs. If killers don't have try their hardest to down someone before 3 gens pop they might not camp you as much.

Stop bringing toolboxes. The faster the games go the more likely the killer is to camp.

If your being a dick to the killer stop doing that.

    Make friends. Randoms suck

    Play something else

Yes and no. You and two other people have said the same exact thing. I disagree with that thing. You can not chase multiple people, but you can pressure multiple people. Basically the same thing.

So, I'm asking you, are you saying this because you don't care about map size, or you just want to make gens 100 seconds and turn Survivor into M1 simulator?

I'm saying you cant pressure all 4 at once. Map size can play a factor in that but that's not my point. Odds are your going to find 1 maybe 2 survivors on a gen. Most cases 1 because of discordance and survivors know it's better to do your own gen. You hit one person, you chase them, unless they run past another survivor your not going to be able to pressure multiple people. Hitting that one person then leaving to find someone else is counter productive too. Most of the killers don't have a one shot mechanic or powers that help them in a chase. They NEED time to catch someone. That's why gen speeds are not fine for all killers. I don't feel adding more time to the gens is the right solution because meta killers such as billy can become OP with that. What I think would solve the issue is adjusting the gen times on 3 things.

1: The size of the map

2: The killer being used. If it's a slower killer or someone who requires time to setup increase the time. If it's Nurse, Billy, Spirit ect don't increase time.

3: Most importantly, I think we could use some sort of oversight by the entity. An AI to watch the course of the match and toss a helping hand if one side is doing too well. Example: If 3 gens pop all within the same amount of time before a hook is made, up the time it takes to complete the next gen. Vice Versa. If the killer is hooking people left and right speed up the gen repair. This option would obviously require a lot of work so I doubt BHVR would go with that.

  • Killer:

    Whispers

    PGTW

    STBFL

    BBQ

    Intervention

    Survivor:

    BT

    Adren

    DS

    DH

    Pharmacy.

(#5 is my opinion. the first 4 are what I see everyone running)

My reason for listing pharmacy. It free's up a perk slot for me, it requires me to do something before gen rushing and it makes me feel afraid of the killer if I cant heal myself or find someone to heal me.

So, are you saying all of your games are always losses? The survivors always 4-man escape?

Your twisting my words into something its not. Read my post again then come back to me.

  • @AntiJelly said:

But, you can. You just feel like you can't because of bad map design.

I'm going to go ahead and say you cant. This also requires the survivors be on the same gen or close together. most games the survivors are smart enough to each pick a gen. You simply can't be in 4 places at once and you cant design a game to depend on one side making a mistake. Cause when they git gud and make zero mistakes, the game is unfair.

  • @Umbrae_pk said:

Had a game where a doctor LITERALLY couldn't catch me, so I deserve the escape if I earn it, right? Wrong.

The gens popped and he chased, downed me, THEN moried me without me being hooked once! Why can this happen? At least with NOED you can AVOID it from being activated, or shut it down if it does. With Rancor you have no choice.

"Just escape you trash survivor main." I hear you thinking... I'd liked to but since the aura reading exists he spotted and targeted me.

The sad thing is, I don't even blame the doctor for this, I blame the devs. For even allowing a perk like this to go through AND promote it by putting it in The Archive Challenges.

    Thanks, but no thanks.

Except for rancor there is hardly any danger of being the obsession. With the amount of survivors using ds there is no consequence for being made the obsession. I rarely see rancor to be honest. I only use it if I got a mori daily and I have no moris.

  • Maybe, now just maybe. If they stopped nerfing killer and they properly ranked survivors it just might balance out.

  • Depends on the killer I'm using but most likely yes. My trapper or hag, no. They make better use of intervention. Everyone else, yes. Especially my Ghost Face, My nurse, if I was better, she wouldn't need it. But I'm not a god nurse so I could use old ruin.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

False. Low tier killers that have hardly any pressure in the beginning needed ruin as a kind of buffer so they can begin setup and actually start snowballing. With their horrible starts like we are seeing now, most low tier killer's don't have a chance to actually begin the snowball, resulting in the new slugging meta. (and yes it was done before, but it wasn't every game.)

This pretty much says it all. The killers are not equal. Majority of them needed some type of early game pressure to stand a chance against decent survivors. Could it be done without ruin? yes but you will have your try hard pants on. Not all killers want to play hard core all the time.

  • I think we should have The Entity act as an overlord throughout the match. Adjusting things as they happen. Like the Director in Left4Dead.

"Oh three gens popped around the same time? /slows down repair speeds

"The killer has 2 people on a hook and 4 gens left?" /speeds up repair speeds

"This survivor is leading the killer on a really long chase?" /slow down gens

  • MM is messed up worse than ever. Either it's uber red survivors or it's newbs that I stomp and I feel bad.

1 … 91 92 93 94 95 … 98
