  • The robot from lost in space or the striga from the witcher.

See a pattern here? Anything from a recent show that could draw in a crowd. That's my guess.

  • ######### team mates. No matter how the killer plays there's always a counter for it. Dumb survivors can't be helped. "You can't fix stupid"

  • I certainly don't miss having to put people asleep and wait 7 seconds before I was able to hit them. The teleporting gives him some much needed map pressure. I think his reworked helped him but I don't main Freddy.

  • Not only did old ruin slow down the game for the killers that require more time to down a survivor but it also kept newb survivors out of red ranks. Now they are "top tier" and they can't even loop a killer.

I agree with everything you said but please learn to use a period. Your paragraphs were almost one long sentence.

  • @a_good_player said:

I play a lot of killer and i can tell you that: if you can't play whitout ruin, the you are not a good killer player. I never used ruin, even before the nerf, because it is VERY POSSIBLE to win whitout it. Indeed, i win most of my killer match(rank 1 killer). Moreover, Billy is one of the strongest killers, so you REALLY don't need ruin on him. I can understand your point, because you played this game only 3 months, but it is simply not correct. Killers that need ruin are the weaker ones, like clown or legion. I'm just giving you this clue: keep playing the game, and as you become better and better you will see that you can still win most of your match whitout ruin.

Billy didn't need ruin but a lot of killers did. Or something similar. Many killers require time to down someone and we all know 3 gens can pop during that. Intervention only blocks some gens and once it wears off you really need to keep up the pressure. PoP is great but it doesn't slow down the early game because you need a hook. I agree ruin wasn't that great a perk but it at least thinned out the herd. Now the red ranks are flooded with survivors that don't belong there because there's nothing stopping them from completing gens and getting out.

It's like kids in Little League playing in the NFL against professional athletes.

  • I say nothing. If the killer face camped me the entire hook duration while everyone else did gens, they screwed up as killer. If he face camped me to death and my team didn't do any gens, I yell at them not the killer.

If the killer camped me because the gates were open and they had no one shot, I'm fine with that. With BT, DS and body blocking it's almost impossible to down someone else before they get out.

If the killer has 2 people in the basement I don't blame them for camping. The other 2 could probably finish the other gens but according to the dev, 2k is fair :P

  • I haven't heard of this before. It might be new. I bet you the devs will take their sweet time patching it since it helps their golden child.

  • @Endstille said:

The perk has no effect on survivors. It is a joke and when you do want to run an endgame totem you are better off with devour hope than this ruin.

Devour Hope is probably the best hex perk now. Old Ruin got demolished in 30 seconds or ignored by good survivors. New ruin they don't even waste time to cleanse it. DH can have a nice surprise effect. What I've noticed is even before ruin got nerfed most survivors don't stop what they're doing and look for totems unless they know it's out there. They don't get a notice until there's 3 stacks and I hope the devs never touch it. Hex perks are so risky yet only 1 of them actually gives a reward. Lullaby is powerful but 5 hooks before the gens get done is way too much work. If you managed to pull that off those survivors are potatoes. I'm excluding NOED because if you get killed by that it's you and your teams fault. Since ruin was gutted I feel removing all notifications about a hex perk isn't asking for much. The devs have held their hands for far too long.

I'm a 3 monthish in player meaning I'm the noob youre trying to cater to. Im a Red rank survivor and purple killer as I dont play it much but I'm not bad when I do. This game was awesome!! Killers were fun to play with and against. Then you nerfed ruin... every single game since is either a 3 minute slug fest against billy or a 3 minute gen rush (I do both). Completely non enjoyable at this point and obviously the uproar since the announcement of this nerf, there have been tons of complaints. Are there plans to fix this? If not as im a paying customer you should feel obligated to tell me not to waste any more money on this product.

Were all paying customers but they got our money when we bought their game. So were no longer their concern. It's the people who haven't bought the game and all the dlc are their targets.

It's like a used car salesmen. "There's no need to kiss ass once the deal is sealed"

  • @PokemonGOPlayer said:

Killing Survivors is the Killer's objective, any way of doing so is decent and caring about the other side should come after that.

You can't know if you are against a sweaty Killer/Team before the match so right now at Reds you have to assume what you can; playing to lose should not be a viable option for the average player unless there is a challenge in the way.

I personally dislike locker meta w/ DS and bodyblock meta w/ BT, but for the most part they are okay, just the strongest Perks you can run right now.

There will always be Perks stronger than others and Survivors being only skins doesn't help that sadly.

As for body blocking, I've yet to see someone body block billy, bubba or oni :P

  • Maybe it was used in 80% of matches so therefore it had to be nerfed?

Oh wow, I specifically remember going against you yesterday. We were all rank 1 and when I saw you were 14 I felt so bad :(

It's not fun for anyone when the matchmaking is that far off the mark.

Ive been to r1 once before, as trapper, but i dont feel i belonged there. Was away for a long time, came back and its like i never deranked lol

  • Like many have already said. David. WGLF cuts down on the grind and DH is nice. After that id get BT from Bill to ensure a safe hook save. As much as I hate it, DS from Laurie would be next. After that probably get all the other good stuff in any particular order. SC, Adren, SB, Lithe, BL, IW ect.

  • I feel a lot of these challenges would be more reasonable if they removed the "In one trial" requirement.

  • I think this perk would be better if it blocked gens currently being worked on. It's not a long duration, it has a pretty long cd so it won't happen often and it slows down the game. Which is desperately needed right now. As it is, the perk is only good for knowing where NOT to search. There are better tracking perks. If I wanted to find people after a hook id run BBQ. If I wanted to know what areas are empty id run whispers.

Well content is what keeps most people interested, keeps the game relevant, and keeps the lights on at Behavior. Personally I wouldn’t mind if the devs skipped a chapter and focused on game health entirely. Maybe from now on instead of 3-4 chapters (with paragraphs) the devs could make two chapters and just one paragraph per year to keep having new content but at the same time focus more on game health instead of rushing chapters and having spaghetti code everywhere.

I wouldnt mind them taking more time to release a chapter. Every chapter we've had for the past year has been half baked. The perks are either crap or very niche. The killers arent that unique or powerful. Just another m1 killer to loop or a knock off of an existing killer.

  • @lazytension said:

Is it just me, or do any of you want the Dev's to stop adding in new content until they fix the features that are already implemented in the game?

Id love them to fix and balance the game for BOTH sides. However they dont make money with patches. Hence why hey arent doing it.

  • @arslaN said:

When are you guys going to stop calling bugs shadow nerfs?

Because the devs have a history with bugs popping up out of no where and later they say it's "working as intended"

  • @WalkingNurse said:

Very true... Cosmetics is only a good thing, I think my major hangup is the push for constant new chapters all the time when what came before it is far from optimized.

If it got to the point of being legitimately competitive, they wouldn't have to crank out new boring chapters. Just a thought.

Yeah a lot of the killers/survivors lately feel very lack luster. Their perks even look very niche. Like they were designed specifically to draw in more players but not to keep them.

  • @WalkingNurse said:

After I hit my 1000 hrs (personal milestone) I really found myself questioning how much fun vs frustrating this game is in it's current state and ultimately uninstalled. Here's why

I was attracted to the horror and feeling of intense fear/excitement at first, which as we all know goes away very quickly.... Now I catch myself mumbling things like "hope I don't get DS'd", the plot twist is I could be a survivor and am referring to dedicated servers (it's not just a killer term anymore, which feels VERY weird). Not to mention the specific frustrations such as hits that you see land as killer but don't translate to an actual hit, exhaustion bugs, grabs, hitbox everything... All the stuff you've heard about, beaten to death, over and over again.

Now I understand that a good video game is meant to frustrate you to a certain degree so as to encourage you to feel like you can do better and overcome... DBD is so far beyond this right now it's jaw dropping.

I wish they would perform a complete overhaul of their approach to updates and new content... We have SO MANY killers, survivors, maps, items, perks and the endless combinations of procedural generation. PLEASE STOP MAKING NEW UNDERWHELMING CONTENT AND POLISH WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE TO A HIGH, COMPETITIVE SHINE. Please, I'm actually begging.

I want my awesome, unique, SCARY, FUN cat and mouse hook murder game back.... Not what we have now. So until that happens, I'll return to my old favorites.... Or maybe give Squad a try.

    GG

Thing is. They don't make money if they fix the game. Useless cosmetics they can sell us makes them money -.-

I found and killed two surviors in the killer shack and noticed the hatch door as there was one gen left.

Hung them both up close together and thought should I camp them but thought lets be nice and make it more fun.

I went looking for the final survior to give them a chance, arriving at the other side of map they both get unhooked, and all 3 escape with the purple key through the trap door...

I knew to increase my chances of winning I needed to stand in the middle and camp them but it wouldn't be fun for them.

However as a killer it wasn't fun for me as I knew where the hatch was and everyones next hook was their last one. As there is no counter to hatches/keys I couldn't seal it which only means in the next game it will be less fun for everyone as I will just know to camp.

I've been called toxic and not fun etc so have tried to improve my fun style when playing against surviors not playing well but write this as I want to be a reformed killer and the game to be fun, however whilst I realise the odds are against the killer (*professional killers vs professional swf on comms trials) myself and other killers will have to play less fun to have fun if that makes sense?

If I had 2 people in the basement with the hatch right there, I'm not leaving. To hell with the survivors fun. They didn't pay for my copy of the game. I don't play this game so someone else can have fun.

  • Being matched against r1s when my killer rank is 14?

It's certainly getting to that point. Players who played killer will just leave with a really bad impression, and as you say, even if they're fixed, that impression will remain. Honestly, if this new skill-based MM system falls through, I'll most likely quit killer. As much as I enjoy playing as killer, there's only so much you can take before enough is enough.

I think the devs assume this

when there's no killers left survivors won't have a game.

Survivors will then get bored and switch to killer.

I don't think step 2 works that way. I think what happens is Survivors will then get bored and play something else.

Rancor doesn't reward skill and is much more than just a cosmetic item.

Rancor is just a way to mori people for a daily when you had no moris

Agreed with most of these. Zubat is a gaming prodigy. I watched him play some Apex and he was just the best thing on the team with very little effort. Some people are just good like that. A lot of the best killer mains have over 5k hours on one killer. If you can't master Huntress, or Billy when you play ONLY them for 5,000 hrs, you may just be bad at the game.

One survivor who I think is on par with No0b3 is Al Boyo, but he plays around a lot and tries for techs, but if he played seriously he'd probably loop killers to oblivion.

I don't really watch survivor streams but I have a question about Noob. Isn't he a convicted hacker/cheat? I know he has been banned more than once. Why does he have such a high following?

I saw a killer whos way better than the survivors yet the survivors still got 4 gens done because they can hold m1. Imagine if the survivors were actually able to loop him and kill more time. He literally tunneled to get the 1st guy out of the match which is rare for otz to have to do. Imagine if he was clown or doc maybe.

Exactly. He was using billy who can sprint across the map and one shot people. Yet gens were getting done super fast regardless. Imagine how that match would have gone down if he was an M1 killer? No one would have died even if he death tunneled the one person. By the time he downed him all the gens would have been done at that rate.

  • @ImmortalReaver said:

No one cares if you or anyone else quits. 😁

You will care as soon as your que times get to 30 mins. Which were not that far off.

  • I don't know how he stacks with some of the other big streamers but I watch Lefty because he's a trapper main.

  • Your asking the devs to nerf survivors? You speak crazyness

  • @NoShinyPony said:

Agreed. My average gaming experience suffered for several reasons.

Bad ranking & matchmaking system is throwing people together who should not play together.

Matches are often over so fast that not a lot happened. Killer gets 2 hooks and the exit gates are open. Too much gen simulator. Or the killer camps & tunnels to make up for the gen speed.

    Or somebody dc's.

Or people are doing their challenges and don't play the game how it is supposed to be played.

Worst part about the MM is the devs KNOW it's a problem. Instead of fixing it they are going to hide the ranks so it isn't "as" noticeable. Covering up the problem won't make it go away.

I'd use it to troll with the spirit totem that lets you Insta down.

    But that's it

When spirit came out I ran toth and haunted grounds just to mess with survivors. What's worse is after awhile they caught on so I switched out haunted. I ran toth and DH lmao. They saw 2 hexes and assumed haunted so they didnt touch them. That's what I wanted them to do! mwhahahaha

I know the feeling. I tried Nurse for the first time recently, and my god, the red ranks knew I couldn't play. They made sure to just sidestep each blink slightly and taunted me for it. I never felt so useless in all my life. They did end up giving me free points, but damn, I never wanna touch Nurse again after that! Hats off to anyone who can master her!

The MM is doing that to all new killers now. If I was brand new to this game and this happened to me, id ask for my money back. Hiding the ranks isn't going to fix the problem. It's just going to cover it up. It will still be there. Like how ruin didn't fix the issue with gen speed.

  • I like the idea but it is spending 2 perks to protect one. It's like doubling down. With ruin now crap what is there to protect early game?

Lullaby doesn't do anything until you get stacks and they know that's in play as soon as the touch a gen.

DH is worth protecting but not early game. 3 stacks it is amazing but you wont get that in the first 60 seconds its protected. They wont even know DH is on the map until 3 stacks or unless they stumble upon it.

  • I'm not saying your wrong but in my case, it's venting.

Every match where I get a 4k, keep in mind I probably had 2-3 matches before that where I was paired with red ranks, at rank 14, and had zero fun. So I put on my try hard pants and show no mercy to the next unfortunate group i come across. In the post game chat I say Sry, I was bullied last game and i needed to take out my anger on something, gg. I'm not saying all killers are lovable people who want to have fun. Some really are ######### but in my case, that is why :P

  • Your doing us a great service. I salute you. I might be joining you soon if MM keeps dicking me over.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

Only way to fix it is actually help killers pip. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 red rank killers in the last month, and they were pretty good, but the rest have been green/purple. It's gotten to the point that nobody wants to play killer anymore at high ranks it seems, and I really don't blame them. I keep getting matched to red rank survivors as a Green rank killer, and I'm barely making enough to safety anymore. I'm lucky to get 1 or 2 kills. Most matches I just have to let them escape because a lot of them make sure that nobody is dying in the match with their BT, DS, Adrenaline, etc.

I tried playing my nurse again at rank 14. I havent really played her since her rework. i thought i was getting the hang of it until MM paired me with all 1's and 2's. I didnt get a single kill. Barely any hooks. They were pretty good at juking and i screwed up some blinks but my god it wasnt fun. before the rework I thought I was a good nurse. i didnt even use extra blink add ons but now I feel like I need to b a god nurse to catch good survivors with her. By the time I find someone my blinks are out, when they recharge they get to a building and my guessing is awful.

  • I like the idea but if someone were to mix this with spirit fury would it be op?

  • It's not "getting" ridiculous. It "is' ridiculous. But when they hide the ranks we wont see the problem anymore and therefore it will go away :P

  • As a killer that uses whispers a lot the best thing you can do is hide and keep moving without running. Even if whispers is going off it doesn't give me an exact location. I might be able to pin down the direction your at but if another survivor is around I cant do that. The biggest issue with whispers is finding someone. If I happen to go to the gen you were working on, whispers goes off and you crouch away. I'll look around and I might find you but I might not. In my experience the ones that hide in 1 spot standing still usually get found. The ones I don't find are the ones that hide somewhere, see me check a spot, then they move to said spot cause I think its clear. Sometimes if I looked all over and I still don't find someone i'll give up and go patrol another gen.

Do Not hide in lockers. Especially at the shack. If whispers is going off at the shack and there's no gens nearby it's pretty obvious your in there. Unless your running head on.

  • @FogNoob said:

yeah, the new ruin doesn't slow down early game anymore, and by the time you get to mid/late game it's already gone, so I don't see the point. Devs say it was a "perk that took no skill to use" but at the same time it was still a high risk high reward perk, because it coul either stay up the whole game or be destroyed immediately. I really don't understand why they had to touch it, when survivors could just do bones.

Also, as was mentioned before, the size of maps is a big issue as well. With low mobility killers sometimes a gen is done before you can even find a survivor, just because 3 of them will spawn together on the other side of the map and you just need to slowly walk up to them with your clown.

I think a solution would be changing generator speed times depending on killer you're versing or map you're playing. But I guess that would be too much work and still kind of subjective...

Ive been saying this for awhile. The whole "gens should be affected by which killer is being used" I also think if the killer is currently chasing someone the entity slows down gen repair. The killer is occupied so they can't pressure the other 3 survivors and it would slightly encourage stealth play. If no one is being chased gens are being repaired at normal speeds.

  • @Rlabotath said:

The problem is old ruin served 1 purpose: slowing down the early game to a manageable level without, as the devs say, "just start with your legs cut off and give them Gena for free." Now, it's not bad, but it serves a different purpose without a replacement for the core issue: early game.

Both teams need momentum to take control of the game. Killers need that early hook before/around gen 1 popping, but prior to 2 gens, to survive. Old ruin gave you that time and momentum. This didn't mean you'd win (meaning 3k+), but it'd give you a competitive edge to survive. Now, without that early pressure, you're liable to being behind all game, and never having a chance at winning, or having a draw for that matter.

People say Corrupt is the answer, however Survivors counter this in two ways: 1, waiting it out, and now you're in the same position as Ruin breaking 8 seconds in, and 2, leading you to chase into the blocked gens, meaning the other 3 get free gen time with no pressure, and you're at square one again. You could say you don't chase them if they run that way, at which point they go find an open gen and get to work, and you're at square 0.

Corrupt only really works for killers with traps such as hag and trapper. It's good for setting up a 3 gen but once those 2 mins wear off you really need to be hooking. Like you said most people either hide until it wears off or just find an untouched gen. It's still not fixing the problem. Also with a toolbox gens get done way too fast now.

I'm a Rank 1 Killer, but I haven't played in over a month. This next rank reset will probably put me in Green ranks. I might just let me account decay all the way up to 17. Who knows. And it's not because I do badly lately, it's just because it's not fun anymore and I really don't appreciate the Dev's attitudes. They completely ignore feedback lately but still want us to pay for their battle pass and DLC every month. Tired of it. They're babying survivors and new players so they can make them into cash cows and don't care about the actual health and balance of the game as a whole. It's honestly disrespectful to their consumer base.

It wont help. I stopped playing killer when the nurse got nerfed. I deranked back to 18 and Im still facing R1s. The best thing we can do for this game is stop playing. If enough of us do it the survivors wont have a game and they will leave. Once that happens then the devs will be forced into action if they want to keep their cash cow alive. Cause it's clear they dont give a ######### about us killers.

what is even more incredible is the silence of the devs regarding this mess.

Game got clearly broken after last patch and, besides some entitled survs and some new players, everyone saw his fun level decrease drastically.

If I was a dev I'd be worried to see players base decrease drastically. But they keep on not addressing the problem and, most of all, no one said they will fix anything regarding this.

Personally I started to play it much less than before, and as soon as a good alternative comes out (RE:resistance, maybe?) I will quit this game.

The problem is there hardly is any competition for dbd besides last year and ft13. Last year is okay and friday kinda died with the law suit. Had there been another competitor the devs might actually fear losing their player basis.

  • @YaiPa said:

If you want good people at red ranks then get rid of 5 gen hatch.

Or you could stop nerfing killers into the ground.

Bring back the old nurse but keep the add on changes

Actually address gen times instead of covering it up with a band aid then removing said band aid(ruin)

Fix the killer glitches as fast as you fixed the ds bug.

  • @Hag.is.Dtier said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/127028/so-you-can-fix-ds-in-a-week-but-not-killer-bugs

They can't even fix simple sound bugs like Bubba's chainsaw. Meanwhile Last year get's weekly bugs and has less players. BHVR have no excuses when a game that was pretty dead get's weekly bug fixes, when DBD get's none until the next patch.

I want last year to really take off. DBD needs some good competition cause right now the devs have a monopoly on this genre. They don't have to please their community cause there's hardly anything else. It's like that south park episode about the cable company "Well if your not happy with our service you could always go to someone else. Oh, that's right. There is no one else"

I thought FT13th could be that contender but it had a bad launch and the law suit was the nail in the coffin.

  • TL:DR

The licensed content I DO NOT want in here is Jason. The devs wont make him powerful. In fact I'm certain he will be another easily loopable killer like most of the roster. Id rather they not degrade him like that. After what happen to his game during the law sue, he's suffered enough.

  • I agree they shouldn't have touched ruin but I don't want it back. Ruin was a band aid that was used to cover a severed limb. It didn't solve anything it was just there to slightly appease the killer community. Now that said band aid is removed it's made things worse because the core issue hasn't been addressed.

Gens get done too fast. Especially with toolboxes.

    Not all killers have mobility

No killer can pressure all the gens at the same time because it's 1v4

The way things are lately. The devs are really going to have to kiss ass to keep killers playing this game. People have been saying the game is dead for 2 years but it hasn't actually died. I don't think it will die but the MM is certainly pushing it in that direction.

  • @FogLurker said:

Otz clearly needs to git gudder and play a killer that has map pressure and is better at chases so he doesn't need to sweat so hard.

I can understand git gudder but a killer with more map pressure? He's playing Billy. The only person who has more map pressure is old nurse. That just points out how broken the game is. We got like 19 killers and only 3 of them are viable at red rank. Now that I think about it at any rank cause MM is so messed up red ranks can pop up no matter what rank killer is.

1 … 93 94 95 96 97 98
