  • What makes me rage.

The devs making my job as killer harder than it needs to be. Then the survivors who ignore my plight because I am a killer. Instead of offering sound advice or acknowledging when something is unbalanced they mindlessly say "Adapt" or "just apply pressure"

Rule number 1: Play as you wish if it makes you have fun

Rule number 2: It doesn't matter if you're a "good guy" or a "merciless killer", if you camp or tunnel, if you insta mori, blah blah blah, ALWAYS follow rule number 1

Rule number 3: Pizza, Nachos, Tacos, Popcorn AND Chicken wings can make you a better killer cause you'll enjoy the experience even more

I sometimes feel like giving away hatch, I sometimes feel like not tunneling nor camping, I tend to mori only instead of 3rd hook AND after all survivors have been hooked at least once. But yes, that's my gamestyle, not everyone has to play the way YOU want them to play. Remember kids, it's just a game. :)

Us trapper mains have a special place among the killers. We use tools that require forward thinking to outsmart our prey. Instead of cheap chainsaws. We hold ourselves to a higher standard >.>

I consider that a waste too but let me ask this, shat if they don’t k or the distance required to loop or are unsure if they’ll make it to the next loop? Should they camp and drop it to avoid taking a hit? At least they’re wasting the killer time

If they don't have the distance to loop than it's fine. I'm talking about people who see the killer coming to them, they have plenty of distance, they go to a pallet and stand there for like 5 seconds then drop it once the killer gets close. I only see new or noob players doing this but I do consider it to be a waste. They could have looped me at least twice with the time it took me to get to them. They were either scared or simply don't know there's something better they could be doing.

  • When they run to a pallet and instead of looping they stand there. Wait till the killer gets close then drop it. I consider that wasting a pallet.

Actually I get hit a lot by DS because I always find the unhooked survivor with DS active repairing a generator.

And deadhard used to reach a pallet/window (not to dodge a hit) is the strongest survivor perk in the game.

I agree with you in everything else.

Edit: idk why I tagged you 2 times and I can't delete them lol. Pretty good job so far.

That's most of the reasons I get hit by ds. I hook someone, go hunting, hook someone else, go hunting again. Then I run into the first survivor by chance. It's not tunneling if I was patrolling and you just happened to be the only one in the area.

  • I feel mobile games are killing real gaming. Microtransactions originated from mobile. Console/pc game developers saw how much money they were making and wanted a piece of that action. Now devs look for any excuse to add loot boxes into a game. Hell look at Diablo Immortal. Poor Blizzard, you will be missed. I dont care if its more money, it feels like it's watering down the product.

Meanwhile, perks that encourage bad behavior, like DS, will also never get touched.

Nobody trusts anything BHVR says anymore. They have lied to us on countless occasions.

As much as I want them to fix ds I have to admit facts. DS used to be worse. When it came out the obsession got to use it at anytime if they were downed. A non obsession could use it so long as they struggled to like 40%. They didn't have to be hooked to use it, they had it one a button to use at their leisure. It took them 2 full years to finally rework the thing and it's almost perfect. They just need to make it so if your healed or the killer hooked someone else, it turns off. Last if your in a locker it shouldn't work.

The devs have stated that they won't touch BBQ because it's a perk that encourages good behaviour.

I hope they never touch BBQ but the devs have out right lied to us before. I've seen things that said they wouldn't touch for fear of survivor/killer backlash and they did it anyway. Only ever so slightly over a period of months so the impact wasn't as bad.

    @Saitamfed said:

First DS doesn't encourage bad behaviour, discourages tunneling, and yes, I am aware some people doesn't use it like it's supposed to work

Second the devs have stated that they are aware of the DS problem and will look into it.

I've worked for companies long enough to know anytime someone in a management says "we'll look into it" is code for "Go the #@$% away" That's just something they say to try to get you to drop the subject. It took them 2 years to rework ds. I expect at least another 2 before they do it again if the game lives that long.

  • My biggest issue with dbd is the devs. With the changes, patch notes and stuff that's been happening for the past 2 years, I can't help but feel they never played killer at red rank. Some nerfs I can understand. Don't like it but I understand why they did it. However there's patches where I'm asking myself "Who the hell thought that was a good idea?"

  • Trapper and hag. There's plenty of mediocre ones. Good ones are scary.

Noooo dont tell the new survivors that! how will all the basement bubbas get their kills???

I dont think kindred works on insidious. Also bubba could always hook them in the basement, leave, run territorial imperative to know when to come back.

  • It would be nice if we had some way of farming add ons in game like the survivors. Though this would benefit killers so we all know it;s not going to happen.

  • If I want to mess around I run lithe, light weight, quick and quiet and dance with me. Just a meme build. Fast vault something, haul ass and try to block LoS before the scratch marks come back.

If everyone ran Kindred, it would help, but there are always going to be those survivors that wait nearby doing nothing or that go for the unhook right in front of the killer. Kindred on every survivor should definitely be mandatory though.

I tend to run kindred when I solo for this reason but it doesnt help all the time. I had a match on autohaven. The one where the shack is in the middle of the map. It was bubba with IG and agitation. I lead him on a good chase but he eventually downed me and put me in the basement. I had kindred. He did not have insidious. He stood in front of me with the chainsaw revved until I died. I stayed on the hook for as long as possible. 2 people sat at the top of the steps for the whole duration. Only one of them was doing gens. I yelled at them in the end game chat. Bubba ended up getting a 4k when he didn't even deserve 1. I'm a killer main and killers like that piss me off. They shouldn't rank up but the game shouldn't punish them for camping. There already is a solution to this problem and it;s up to the survivors to know how to do it.

  • @Seanzu said:

So glad as a killer I've never ran ruin, this change affected a lot of players by 0 because they never ran it, they all say the same thing, it isn't needed.

Killers are yet to realise they don't all belong in red ranks, so if you keep losing games without ruin you were never meant to be in red anyway, go back to purple/green and hopefully when MMR comes in, you'll be placed correctly and will have good matches.

I admit a lot of people don't belong in the red ranks. The issue is the killers aren't equal. Many lack early game pressure because of their powers or lack of powers. Ruin was a half ass solution for this. No matter what killer your using you need to bring some sort of gen stopping perk to stand a chance against decent survivors. If they want to rush gens there's not much you can do about it. No amount of pressure is going to stop all of them without slugging because there's 4 of them and 1 killer. Most killers don't have a means to end chases in 15 seconds unless the survivor screws up. You shouldn't design a game to be balanced around one side making a mistake. If both sides play well survivors outplay killer every time because there are more of them. You can't apply pressure to all 4 at once. Even if you managed to injure all of them they can simply choose to ignore healing themselves and finish gens for adren. The problem is the core mechanic of this game. The gen speeds need to be adjusted depending on the killer being used. Perks don't fix anything, they make it worse. What might be great for the M1 killers can be OP on the meta ones.

  • We should probably put something in the loading screen.

"Terrible moment in Dbds history", also known as the Mettle of Man Crisis, let it be known that is ie what this time period shall be known as.

Do we have a name for that patch that removed the timing for getting a pallet/flashlight stun? The one that had to revert like a week later because if someone was down at a pallet it was impossible to pick them up if another survivor was nearby?

  • I havent really played much since the nurse nerf. Ive only face an oni like 3 times. However I watched one of tr3s vids and he is using like blind spots around obstacles that the oni literally can't hit him with a dash.

The only thing I dont like about Oni is once you get hit it is impossible to lose him because of the blood orbs. You can't exactly heal up while your being chased and gl juking him with those orbs.

  • I think we should have a 5th perk slot that is reserved for certain perks only. Like throw all the 2nd chance perks or gen slow down perks into this category and you can only equip one. To prevent stacking of OP perks. Have you noticed most new survivors/killers have crap perks? I think it's because they can't add something new without disrupting the game. MoM being the prime example. That was a terrible moment in dbds history yet if you could only run MoM it might have been fine. It was OP when it was mixed with ds, bt, and adren.

  • a·sym·met·ri·cal

having parts or aspects that are not equal or equivalent; unequal in some respect.

"the asymmetrical relationship between a landlord and a tenant"

Despite the very definition of asymmetrical above, there are still survivors who believe 1 person should be able to go toe to toe with the killer and stand a chance.

  • The problem I have with OoO besides the obvious is there really is no downside to being the obsession. If anything it's a positive. The killer isn't going to hit you if they are running pwyf or stbfl. The only time it's dangerous to be the obsession is rancor and how often do you see that? How about giving the obsession an actual penalty? Like an action speed debuff or something.

  • @Izo_Quartz said:

I don't think Deathslinger needs 115% speed. I think he just needs 3 simple changes:

increase the range of his shot to 20 metres (from 18).

suffer almost no stun time for when an injured survivor breaks from the chain, or increase the reeling power when reeling in an injured survivor.

make it so that other survivors cannot bodyblock the chain when reeling in a speared survivor.

I agree with the "Make it so survivors can't body block the chain" but if he suffered no stun from breaking a chain won't that be broken? Even if you break the chain you are probably close enough for him to hit you anyway.

  • Never pallet loop a nurse. I don't understand why so many survivors treat her like every other killer. If the loop is high enough that she can't see over top of it you stand a chance cause she has to guess where your going. Otherwise keep running from her. One of the best places to take Nurse is the outside of the killer shack. Keep running around a corner so she can't see you. If she screws up a blink she might blink inside the shack. Or you can double back and she passes you. Or you can run into the shack when she thinks your still looping the outside. I know it works because Nurse is my 2nd main and people do this to me all the time.

As for spirit if your at a pallet or a vault, make sure she is actually phasing. I've been tricked a few times where I dropped a pallet, I slow vaulted only to find out the spirit stood still. She didn't actually phase she just waited for me to vault.

I find the hard part about looping is knowing where to go. I have a bad habit of running to the wrong spots cause my routing isn't great.(Killer main) Windows of Opportunity helps with learning where the loops are.

  • I think it's a terrible idea. Just another dumb ass thing the devs can "sell" to us. Plus we all know survivors will abuse the ever living ######### out of it at the exit gates. They already teabag non stop. Can you imagine if they could dance?

  • @ProfessorDunwich said:

    But, money.

This answers it all. The big wigs at BHVR are in a meeting saying

"Do we balance the game and release a patch that's free? or do we get the rights to a licensed killer, get more new players to throw at our red rank survivors that wait 10 mins for a match?

They already have our money. Get a new customer in here and that's an untapped resource.

  • My bad. I get haddonfield mixed up with coldwind farm cause I see "field" in the title.

As trapper I actually like haddiesfield. Mainly the windows that lead to the rooftops. Some of them it's impossible to disarm a trap without vaulting and stepping into it.

  • Ruin had something to do with it, despite many on these forums claiming it didn't.

It didn't affect good survivors but it kept the crappy ones from ranking up. Taking out ruin is the same as giving participation trophy's. You think you accomplished something? Now we got survivors in red ranks that can't even loop. They whine that killer is OP, the devs look at their red rank and assume "They must be know what they're talking about" so killer gets nerfed even more.

Combined with all the nerfs killer has been getting and red ranks flooded with survivors. We have a system where killers are thrown at whoever is first in line. Regardless of if it's a fair match or not. Granted it is 4 vs 1 and if killer was op you would have no one playing survivor. It's like Friday the 13th where everyone wanted to be Jason. But the devs have to keep killers happy just enough to get them to stay. They've been failing miserably at that part.

  • Killers are not the monsters in this game. It's the survivors :P

  • Less corn. As Nurse, corn is my kryptonite.

  • @DYNAMICskills7 said:

Think it’s best to say years or never.

They ignored it since the game came out. Ruin was a pathetic attempt to fix the issue, which it didn't fix. It only helped and barely.

  • I haven't played the PTB but from just looking at his mechanics and some videos of streamers using him. I think he is a weaker huntress. He has the benefit of causing broken status. He may have slightly better pressure against multiple survivors. If 2 survivors were close together he could fire, reel+hit one to apply broken. Then he could go after the other one while the first is mending. Other than that I feel huntress trumps him because her power is faster. Deathslinger has a faster animation for firing. He doesn't need to wind up like huntress. However he has to reel in people and hit them. There's also the possibility the chain can break due to obstacles. He needs a clear shot before and after he fires. Huntress just needs a clear shot. Plus he has to do it twice. Huntress just has to wind up and hit. Huntress also has add ons that let her range attack one shot people. As far as I know deathslinger doesn't have any add ons that do that.

  • I don't feel like reading 4 pages of comments but encase no one else has mentioned it yet, I will say this.

"IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!!!!!"

  • @Pirscher said:

Hopefully it gets fixed in the next patch..

Im on PS4 and every other game I am encountering this! The survivor is running zero silencing perks yet they make no sound in dying state

It's a bug that helps survivors. Not only will it not get patched anytime soon, there's a good chance in a dev stream they will say it's "working as intended".

Now if it was the opposite, a bug that helped killers, that not only would be patched right away but they also would make an announcement saying "Anyone doing this until we fix it will be banned". Like the legion mending add ons exploit. It's only a problem if it helps killers -.-

  • Our current ranking system was garbage to begin with. It only expressed playtime that month. If you played enough you could hit r1. I feel the new system won't be any different and instead of fixing the issue it's going to try to take attention off it.

  • I don't know if kindred works through undetectable because I only run it when I solo. It's not like those randoms can talk to me and tell me it's working. I run it in the hopes that if it's a face camping bubba they can see him and hope they do gens. The other highlight of kindred is survivors can see everyone else.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1120769#Comment_1120769

Oh please. It has nothing to do with Ruin. Gens go too fast now so the solution is to tunnel and camp? PLEASE. That gives everyone else time to get those gens done very quickly. Killers always tunneled and camped and they always will.

Spoken like a true survivor main. I bet you complained about the rework to old MoM and you want back the ability to recharge SB while running?

Ruin was a band aid over a serious problem. It didn't help much but it was something. Now that band aid was removed and all the blood is pouring out. By blood being a metaphor for the killer community. Lots of killers simply don't have early game pressure or a way to end chases quickly. Ruin was the devs lazy attempt to address that. It didn't work on good survivors but it kept the newbies where they belong. Now that it's gone the newbies are ranking up and that's why your que times suck.

My personal opinion. If you NEED DS, your not a good survivor. If you NEED noed your not a good killer. BT is perfectly fine.

If the killer wants to tunnel and face camp you to death that's their choice, not yours. If the killer is face camping the rest of you get an easy game. If you stop drooling over the hook save bp you can do the rest of the gens and get out. That killer isn't going to rank up, not that rank matters with this MM. Majority of killers that camp usually suck. Good killers realize it's better to pressure gens or hunt someone else than stand there ensuring that one person dies.

Me, I do what is best for my game. If I see you unhook right in front of me I assume BT+DS so I go after the one who made the save. If I'm patrolling and see 1 healthy and 1 injured survivor, the injured one is my target. It don;t matter who clicks a flashlight in my face or tries to body block. The injured one is going on the hook cause that's the best choice for "my" objective.

TL:DR. Devs made killer's job harder so they are going to fight dirty. Blame the devs for their broken mechanics not the killers. Without them you don't have a match and the way things are looking, your que times aren't going to get better.

  • It would be a nice change. BW would see more action and remember might actually be useful again. As for the "Making it impossible to open the door as the last survivor" well if the killer managed to kill 3 people before the gens were complete and they closed the hatch before the 4th found it, the killer probably deserves that 4k.

Nurses is a nurse perk, I don't think huntress has any perks worth grinding her for lol. Thana can be ok with sloppy imo.

It's sad. Huntress's only semi good perk is HL. Shame it's a hex and you need 5 hooks to get the no audio que. Unless the survivors are playing poorly, the match is usually over by the time you get 5 hooks.

actually a nice idea! And its on the shrine this week so I might have to try it!

It works great on hag because she can leave and come back, provided they trip something. What I love about MYC is the survivors can't say you were tunneling because your going after the (usually)healthy survivor that made the save.

  • Sounds like a typical survivor main. The idea they screwed up or got outplayed is not possible. So therefore they think the killer cheated.

  • I really enjoy MYC on hag. If someone goes for a save i hope they trip the trap after the rescue. That way the survivors literally switch places.

  • Slightly off topic. Why does Iron Will not work when your in the dying state?

  • Probability hates me I guess. Cause even after taking a break and deranking back to 18, I'm still get red/purple survivors and on average I see DS on at least 3 people every match. Sure doesn't feel like 46% to me.

  • If you want perks you can always lvl up a killer without actually playing as them. Fun wise pick whoever you want. I absolutely hate playing as legion but I got friends that love using him. To each his own.

  • So if we apply the devs reason for destroying ruin. Since it's over 40%, DS and SC need to be "reworked" to oblivion correct? :P

  • The MM is really messed up over a few things.

Ruin was gutted without addressing the core problem.

Now that ruin is gone the red ranks of survivors are flooded with people who don't belong there. They took away the skill involved and now people who can't hit great skill checks or even loop are ranking up.

Killer is super frustrating now with ruin gone and constant nerfs.

Without early game pressure many killers are tunneling, camping, slugging even more than before.

Among other things. Point is killer population is low while survivor is high. Survivors are plagued with long que times and the game throws the first available killer they're way so they have a game. Without giving two shits about you(the killer). So any rank now is a potential r1 match for killer. It only makes things worse because even rank 18s can be thrown to the wolves against red rank survivors. I can't imagine any new players falling in love with killer with the way MM is right now. The devs even secretly said they aren't going to fix it. They're just going to hide our ranks so we don't see how bad were getting miss matched.

Thanks for the reply. I like playing as killer but i can't anymore. The gens flying and i got the kills by no one escapes death. And after that they message me that i play scammy / toxic using no escapes death, baby killer ez, stop using noed, etc. I'm new to this game, learning. I've noticed that many survivors are toxic to the new killers. They t bagging me, making noises at the exit gates, clicking flashlights, hate messages. I'll stick to survivor and see what happens with the new system you said.

The best advice I can give you is don't listen to survivors. If they had their way we would all be bots. There is no "Survivor's Rule Book for Killers". Watch a youtuber called samination to get that joke :P

    Or make bots.

Gotta make excuses for new survivors to have an enjoyable experience after all.

I honestly believe the only reason we don't have bots is because BHVR can't program one. Killer is basically a unskilled laborer in a warehouse for Amazon. As soon as they work out the kinks in robots they won't need the work force anymore.

I'm slightly accustomed to this crap cause I've been playing killer for a few years but new people like you. I can't imagine why they would want to play this game after seeing how messed up this match making is?

The devs solution is to erase rank so we no longer "see" the problem. It'll still be there we just won't notice it as much. It sounds like when you were told to clean your room as a child and you shoved everything into the closet.

Ruin was somewhat justified. It's pressence was extremely high on a per match basis, the problem though is that the devs went way too far with the nerf, it's mostly useless now, it no longer slows down gen times nearly as much as it used to since it only affects those that aren't being worked on. What they should've done is revert the buff it got when they buffed all hexes, that way most people would have been forced to upgrade it to get any use out of it. The version we had before it's current state was just too good of a choice simply because it affected everyone without even upgrading it

Ruin was in most matches because a lot of killers lack map pressure. There was a reason it was used so often. The same could be said about DS yet it still works almost as well as before. The excuse they gave to nerf ruin was just poor. There are so many survivor perks that are in 80% of matches. Ruin didn't even affect good survivors so the only reason they nerfed it was to cater to the new players. The issue is ruin was a band aid for a serious injury. They removed said band aid and now they have to address the injury or suffer death by blood loss. By blood loss I mean the severe dip in killer player basis or else people will, in Kote's own words, "Play something else".
