I run into way more survivor cheaters than killer cheaters, anyone know why that is? Killer cheats harder to come by?
It's just easier to ruin the game for killers than survivors.
Survivors can kill themselves on hook, Killers has to wait until the cheater is done with whatever the ######### they were doing.

Conveniently for me I for some reason tend to lose connection every time I notice there is a cheater in the game. Very convenient that it happens as I'd prefer not to give them any attention they desperately crave and the 5 minute ban is much better than staying in that game. I'll just grab a cup of tea and play the next game.
But yea cheating has soared and the process to report them to get them banned is extremely poor and in some cases not even possible. Which is part of the reason why there's so many cheaters.
BHVR seriously needs to ditch EAC and either make their own in-house anti-cheat or use something else that ######### works.

@FellowKillerMain said:
Considering the cheating is resulting in a lot of 5 minute matches, the devs are getting an ear full from killers complaining the gens are too fast. It's kind of relieving to find out this is why. The cheaters out there are getting bored of being super blatant, so they're being secret jerks about it making people think they just played poorly.
Honestly, I would like some of my offerings back...
This last guy I was with didn't want a 5 minute match.
He wanted to drag me and this Leon for over 20 minutes. Leon eventually just told me to just kill him and get the match over with.
I obliged.

Wanna know what's funny? Was playing Deathslinger with this cheater and BOTH TIMES he Shift+W'ed so hard I still speared him even though he was blatantly cheating. I got a hook on a cheater that tried to be subtle but ######### up so badly. I feel proud.

@Miles said:
remove dash and i frames, replace with endurance, but make it a really low time endurance, from 1 second at max. that way if you time it you get a sprint burst without having to actually time it.
... Wouldn't that just end up with the same exact situation as current Dead Hard?
-
Even if it's Otz, even if it's Dowsey. Like you said, they're just players like me.
I tend to have very strong disagreements with Otz, particularly with his community-made patch video. As well as how he approaches the game.
Even though I agree with Dowsey on a couple of things (like the "Survivors, I'm not your friend") video. I don't necessarily let myself be swayed by his opinions on the game. If anything, I often am more defensive with him.

Okay, just happened today. Had someone complained that I didn't give them hatch when they had a key... I already 3k-ed them and they were free to leave through the exit gate anyway but I was standing on the hatch because they last second switched to it.

I remember reading but what is all that about. So by forcing the killer to the other side of you on a pallet it cancels PS?
Yeah pretty much

There's def an issue because even my Power Struggle failed to work when I was doing that challenge, and it happened to a random person on Gideon. They were at that pallet near the corner stairs with the narrow hall behind it. And before anyone asks, we both had Flip Flop equipped, and he was 99% because I went to pick him up, but he signaled not to. I saw The Oni grab, get stunned but no drop. It also happened to me against The Spirit and I was also already well beyond 75% recovery so was instantly at least 35% wiggle and nothing happened.
Oh that's not an issue with pallet saves.
That's an issue with devs forcing killers to be on the other side of the pallet if a survivor stuns them. Power Struggle is currently broken.

I got an absolutely diabolical plan and I was wondering if others would want to join in on the fun. 😈
We all know Boon Totems are coming up and most people will be running this perk in their builds. So I was wondering what would be the best way to play with teammates who use this build?
Then I had a thought!
Introducing the Nancy/Jill Totem Eater Squad!
Here's what you can do for the first week of boon totems being out:
- Play as Nancy/Jill (or even more dastardly, the new Survivor)
- Bring totem hunting perks (Detective's Hunch would be good but you'd want to get to these totems before anyone else, I heavily suggest getting Small Game and Counterforce alongside Inner Strength and Bond. Bond is to help you race survivors looking for totems as well.)
- Destroy absolutely every totem in the map. Not only to get rid of NOED or other hexes but also to leave the Boon Totem user with no totems to work with.
- In the end game chat, once you've finished stealing every totem in the map. Tell them you had a challenge to do.
- Repeat.
Remember to have fun.
Your fun. ;)
Give in to the temptations, the bones, they speak to you.
You hear it's call.
-
You didn't imply it had to be official.
https://youtu.be/YpU6C9lCE8s?list=RDYpU6C9lCE8sBut if you want me to use official sources, let me give you my top three right now:
https://youtu.be/2cvSsxXS6hQNemesis is number 1 for me because it never fails to intimidate me the moment I hear it. It's one of the reasons why Nemesis is one of my favourite killers to go up against. Just hearing the 32 meter radius track is enough to send a chill down my spine.
Then it starts to build up from 16 meters. Adding distorted strings in the background, making you feel spikes of anxiety as Nemesis' footsteps draws closer and closer.
And nearing the climax with 8 meters, where the percussion starts to join the party. Making you feel like your blood is pumping and he can smell it.
And then we get into the CHASE. Where all of the previous elements are combined into what makes for the BEST chase theme in the entire game. It feels like you're attempting to outrun an unstoppable beast. Not outrunning. ATTEMPING to outrun him. You feel like you're always just barely surviving each swing, each tentacle strike, each zombie encounter.
Oh, I ######### love this theme song so much.
https://youtu.be/BVWBkQuPTWIBut Deathslinger's theme is a close, close second.
24 Meters always feels sinister. Insidious. If you keep playing it for long, you'll always feel like you're looking around for the yeehaw cowboy lurking through the fog or the corn. The paranoia can get to you.
That feeling keeps continuing into 16 meters, where we hear the only time the DBD leitmotif is played in a chase theme. Hearing that everytime I play Survivor always catches me off guard. Like Deathslinger doesn't see this as anything more than just a game. A hunt for him. Helpless vermin for him to carry out his brand of Justice as he did to the gang that crossed him before.
But then we're reaching the climax. 8 meters. You know he has spotted you, and he has most likely got you in his sights. And before you know it.... BANG!
A spear hits close to you and the chase begins!
Unlike other chase music, this isn't a chase from your perspective. It's a chase from his perspective. The twisted melody constantly clashing withh the tribal-like percussion makes you feel like nothing more than a prey being hunted by a predator. And your only hope is to run.
RUN!
https://youtu.be/LMFsUUhlfOM?list=PLVAocnndW0JFyF9_z3StuU0egNcgRSTQyBut Trickster is the opposite end of that spectrum. It's not a hunt. It's not a game. For him, it's a mad dash to the finish. To the top. To him this is what he is living for. To Kill. To Hunt. It's his purpose after being taken into the fog.
Trickster is the kind of killer who would be horrible to go up against in real life. Constantly having knives thrown at you with no regard to the kind of wounds you obtained from it.
His theme at 24 meters just gives you a glimpse at the discord, the distorted glimpses into his mind. How broken it is. Which is only amplified by the next section of the chase theme, which adds to the terror that he is a killer who has no remorse. Unlike Nurse or Wraith who still has some humanity left in him.
Trickster just kills. Kills. Kills. Mindless killing. Mindless torture. Screams, SCREAMS, SCREAMS!
Notice how the longer the music goes on the more and more distorted it starts to sound? It's not just building up to something. But it's preparing the survivors for a torturous finale.
Sirens and alarms starts to blare out, as if to say that you're in danger. You need to move. You need to run. But you can't run. He shot you in the foot, you're limping. Desperate for help. But he is approaching slowly, and the closer he approaches the more you hear him laugh. The more you hear him get giddy and excited at the thought of hearing you scream.
SCREAM. Giving him the power trip that he wants.
He lifts his bat far above his head and slams it down onto the ground, ending you.

Sounds like a waste of time, so you denied a player the use of boon totems for one game. Maybe, because if they change it to boon you can't cleanse it. Also, you're probably killing your team because you're running around looking for 5 totems at the beginning of the game or maybe just wasting your time because no one has a boon totem perk. *slow clap*

Oh yes let me have fun against a god tier nurse, a spirit or sweaty blight using my really fun perks... If you want to play this game for fun then die 50 times so your SBMM is really low that u go against trash killer/survivors
I feel genuinely sorry for you.

Actually interesting license choices than the ones we usually get.

Yeah like For the People, Counterforce, Power Struggle, Fast Track...
Some things are OP on paper and sound OP but aren't. Look at the limitations surrounding it and apply them to how you think a real match will play out.
Let's take the new perks that use Boons, Shadow Step and Circle of Healing.
No scratchmarks and 2x healing speed sounds good right? Issue is it's an AOE effect. You don't get these throughout the entire map. Do you seriously want to run to that specific area of the map all the time to get the AOE healing as well as no scratchmarks? You can't place Shadow Step in a different place to Circle of Healing, they have to be in the same spot.
This, in my opinion, makes them less appealing to use over other perks since the AOE isn't large enough to justify running these perks over something else that can immediately help you anywhere.

You are right with one thing: Survivors indeed should be able to run a killer for 5 gens.
Assume a very good survivor plays against a mediocre or bad killer, his skill advantage should give him the edge to run him for that ammount of time.. simply because he is that much better. Even in a 4v1 skill should matter.
Thats not the case with a Deathslinger. Even a mediocre Deathslinger with decent RNG can easily down a very good survivor relative quick.
Most survivors have a problem with that and i think the reason is very obvious and understandable.
Um.. No? Even a mediocre Killer should not lose all 5 generators to a SINGLE survivor. If they lost all 5 gens without hooks because their team is coordinated with saves and can keep gens going, then congratulations, that's the point of DBD and literalyl any other team game.
Survivors should not automatically win a 1v1 just because they are equal or sllightly better than the Killer.
Because it's not a 1v1. It's 1v4. Holy #########.

That's not my point. I'm not saying to leave killers how they are for variety, I'm saying don't kill their strengths and keep only their weaknesses. Readjust their strengths so people still play them, they're still strong, AND they're more enjoyable to play against, because otherwise everyone is going to just play the same 3-4 killers.
I don't see how fewer people playing a killer who could be more fun to play against is preferable over almost never seeing that killer.
Probably because this community has a weird thing about wanting to see certain killers "deleted" like they're entitled to wanting it just removed from the game.
I've been seeing it a lot more lately, don't know what's up with that. Either just "remove x Killer" or "remove x Perk from the game" instead of actually try to solve it and balance it out better.
Hell, I know a couple of people who actively want Legion deleted from the game and will genuinely bully the crap out of anyone who plays them because they think people who play Legion just has a "boring playstyle"

Yeah. Deathslinger is a ranged stealth killer. Why do you think Marshal's Badge and Gold Creek Whiskey exist? You may not think he should be a stealth killer, but that doesn't change the fact that he is one.
Deathslinger and Ghostface can both hit you out of nowhere. That seems to be what you're complaining about. Sure it's a bit easier for Deathslinger to do because of his range, but unless he's running Iri Coin or Exposed perks he isn't 1 shotting you like Ghostface and Myers can... to offset the fact that he does in fact have range.
Tier 2 Myers can easily drop his Terror Radius to 8m. I don't know exactly how long killer lunges are, but that short of a Terror Radius gives Survivors precious little time to react to it. So much so that outside of aura reading, the difference between an 8m TR and a 0m TR is... not much.\
Just an fyi
Killers except Myers Tier 3 and Nurse has Quick/Lunge attacks after a blink a lunge speed of 6.9m/s (nice) for 0.3 seconds.

Probably would make it easy for BHVR to balance the maps too so maps like Corn Maps aren't as tedious to playthrough.
I know this is an unpopular opinion to have but I ######### hate that map as Survivor. I despise it as Killer but holy ######### if I see a teammate bring me to that map I want to groan.
It's not really the aesthetic I hate about it but the balance of it.

"Then why do u start ur argument with "as a surv player"
This doesn't add anything to it but make ur argument look even more silly.
U want the devs to nerf/buff things based on your experience, you're experience isn't even the 1%, so what are u on bud?
" I face a very low variety of killers every time I play, and my stance is that the recent changes are hurting the already lacking variety of killers."
That's not a game problem. People play to win, so you'll see less variety. The only way u could see variety is that if every killer is at nurse/spirit level. If you want to see variety then make another Adrenaline, Dead Hard, spirit, nurse so the game gets even more unbalanced but hey! "Variety" I guess.
What's the point then? It's just another spirit game with a different looking killer. "Variety" I guess...
And it is ok that u share ur experience, but dont write a essay on why survivors needs to be nerfed or killers need to be buffed based on your experience, imagine if we balance around players experience on the game lol... Maybe you should get real.
That's very disingenious to assume people play to win.
DBD is mainly a casual game, the vast majority of players don't play to win. They play to have fun. Even an SWF with 4 of the most meta perks in the game can still just play the game for shits and giggles. ######### CowsIAM is the perfect example of someone who just plays the game for the memes.
But, let's assume that people play to win.
Why are there such a small variety of killers as well as survivor perks to go hard on one another? I'm quite happy to see Trapper buffed and Built to Last buffed because that means we get to potentially perks like that and killers like Trapper more often.
But why would we also nerf killers like Slinger who isn't even A tier in terms of power?
Again. ASSUMING that people want to win, based on your own assumptions here, why aren't the devs designing the game based around making sure every killer and perk plays optimally at the highest level?
Because they don't. They themselves said they balance around the casual crowd. Which is why this nerf is especially frustrating in a sea of good changes. Because it makes one killer basically an obsolete version of an already existing killer if you want to play a ranged killer.
No one likes to play a janky killer that doesn't feel fun.
Nurse and Hag are extremely powerful. But not a lot of people play them because their playstyles aren't as fun as someone like Doctor or Legion for example.

Good thread OP.
Hey man, I like the majority of the changes too.
But I also would prefer if one of the killers I enjoy playing doesn't feel like jank or ######### to play because some people found him "unfun" to play against.
I just have no reason to celebrate those changes because those changes should've come sooner rather than later. The Hatch change especially was a long time coming.
Also please don't try to psychoanalyze everyone who plays this game, you'll give yourself an aneurysm. The reason people are pessimistic is because it's BHVR. They're the same company who promised Billy will only get an add-on pass and pretty much turned him into the unicorn of Killers. Only appearing in very few survivor matches.
They're the same company who couldn't launch RCPD in a working state. They're the same company who kept disabling Dead Dawg constantly.
They're also the same company who constantly has ignored console optimizations, and while I myself don't particularly care about console since I play on PC, it's still a pretty good chunk of their playerbase having consistent issues that has not really been addressed all that well.
They're the exact same company who thought the original Mettle of Man was good design.
If you want to have a problem with people who have doubts with BHVR, take that up with BHVR who has given people little reason to trust them.
-
I've noticed that before.
I suggest getting GlassWire to check which server region you are connecting to.

So, according to some people in this thread his main benefit now compared to other range characters is being able to reload while walking extremely slowly during chase. Wowza.
Even with the annoying quick shot or quick shot fake mechanic he was still a mid tier worse than huntress killer. All this has done was made him worse especially on maps he already struggled on.
You know I'd be fine with the nerfs if his reload speed is faster and he walks at 105% so he can still keep up with survivor and not lose ground when reloading.
Since his reloads are his biggest time sinks.

Only the DBD community would complain this incessantly about such a minute change like a .15s increase in something.
.25 or .40, it doesn't matter. Both are way faster then the average human reaction time, and that is *before* you factor in latency.
This community needs to grow up.
Actually it does considering how much reading is involved in DBD and how much time matters in this game.
DBD is not a game with objectives, it's a game with a time limit. And that time limit is dependent on the Survivors getting ######### done. Killers can only verse 1 survivor, so Slinger needs to be able to down them fast since he has 0 map pressure to take the edge off the other survivors.

Almost like bragging that you have the most money at the end of a Monopoly game.

I don't own this killer. The only time I ever saw him was when I played against him as survivor. He was fun, it was a game of line-of-sight like a shooter. The RE update added flashbangs to give creative ways to mess with him as well. He was a well-rounded, fun killer
Then Scott Jund balled his eyes out about the quickscopes and casual survivors jumped on his band wagon. So the devs heard an extremely loud minority of entitled survivors that think low-mid tier killers are worth nerfing just so they can have easier counterplay.
People that think like you make killers unbearable

Urgh... I genuinely dislike him and his clique.

One thing to note though: At 24 meters, Deathslinger's terror radius is already silent enough that he can sneak another 6 meters before you hear it over a generator. I doubt the added 8 meters will also increase it's loudness.
And Huntress has a 40 meter Lullaby.
Guess we have to wait to see his addons to see how much Slinger truly has been damaged, or if he simply became addon reliant(which, isnt a bad thing as long as he has 8 reliable addons to use)
I don't think keeping a Killer add-on reliant is a good thing in the same update where they are trying to make Trapper LESS add-on reliant.

The thing is, though, is that on paper he is designed properly. It's difficult to avoid getting speared, but that's why the reel mechanic exists - using objects around you, you can break his chain and make his spear shot not equate to a down, which is a balanced, deep and fun interaction.
The problem is that walking backwards while reeling turns this tug-of-war into a guaranteed hit for Slinger in almost every situation, removing this important element of his counterplay. It wasn't the ADS that was a problem, it was the fact that survivors can't move while being reeled in if Deathslinger's walking backwards.
If this was the thing removed, his chase would actually have a good degree of meaningful counterplay. But only someone who is somewhat experienced with Deathslinger really knows the effect of walking backwards, and as such many people who complain about him (who don't play him) think that this is just how his reel works, and so they complain about what they THINK is the problem, his ADS.
For real though, I don't understand why BHVR doesn't just change the behaviour of how his reels work instead just nerf everything else about him.
I don't mind reeling without walking backwards. It takes the same amount of time as walking backwards, it's just that walking backwards SEVERELY reduces Survivors being able to move left and right. Which is what his counterplay is originally for. You position yourself around objects and Deathslinger tries to wrangle you away from it.
That was what he is supposed to be like. But of course like anything in DBD, people found a way to abuse a mechanic in the game. And now people think that Deathslinger is this somehow "nigh impossible uncounterable" killer when in reality he is just a B tier killer at best. While it sucks to maybe lose hits from time to time, I'd rather get that than completely lose this Killer I love playing so much.
Hell, I'll miss getting ADS shots from the second floor while dropping to catch a survivor who didn't expect a thing.
