It's a tough one. Much like the whole 'DRM kills SSDs' hoax, this is the internet and a story can be spread at light speed.
That said, there is a lot of hacking in this game, and this sort of story lies just within the realms of believability that it's easy to get taken in.
That's why fake news and gossip are so powerful online. It turns into 'well, you can't prove that it didn't happen' extremely quickly.
While I agree that there is doubt to be had since there isn't any clear evidence presented in those threads.
I also don't want to give BHVR and this game the benefit of the doubt, since I have had experiences in the past where my computer completely hanged or shut down while playing this game.
Regardless, if this pushes the devs to actually work on optimizing the game on both console and PC, I'm more than willing to spread awareness to it.

I forgot the name, but there was this one Indonesian horror movie I watched where the premise is that everytime you pray you'll have someone praying alongside you. Because it was based on the belief that no one should pray alone and should always have someone besides them...?

This perk is not consistent at all, I don't know how many games now where I've used pop instead of ruin because I find how fast ruin breaks to be obnoxious and not once have I gotten significant value out of pop. Either the only worthwhile gen pops in your face, or 45 seconds is up by the time you find a gen worth damaging.
It's consistent because of the fact that you always have it on hand after hooking a survivor.
Ruin can pop within 10 seconds or 10minutes of a match.

I kid, but I agree. And honestly, if you ask me, the claims aren't all that far fetched given the state of the game currently.
I have had my PC hang from just playing DBD.

Revert the ADS and Terror Radius changes.
Remove Deathslinger being able to walk backwards to deny Survivors the ability to unchain themselves with the environment.
The issue with Deathslinger and why he was "uncounterable" was because of moving backwards. Survivors were never given a chance to be able to fight against the chain hence why it felt "unfair". Even though that chain was supposed to be his complete counterplay.

You need to hook a survivor first for it to work and it only works for 45 seconds.
It's not that powerful of a perk, but it is very consistent. That's why people run it.

It won't work because there are 4 Survivors vs. 1 Killer.
The Survivors will ALWAYS outvote the Killer.

It's not going to kill the game, but it should give it some competition especially after them decimating a lot of goodwill recently.
BHVR is always going to have the advantage of recognizable icons.

I'm someone who currently lives in a third world country who got continuosly screwed over by western powers, so much so our country isn't even a century old. We literally had our independence during the end of World War 2.
And I think this kind of thinking and mindset doesn't help anyone at all. Are we as a society using a lot more energy than we need? Yes, but as individuals what we contribute are only a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the amount these megacorporations and crypto exchanges use to power themselves.
I don't think criticizing someone who lives in a first world country for being more environmentally and morally conscious about stuff like this helps. If anything you should encourage them to, you know, help vote away companies like Boss Protocol from being able to operate considering what they do. Because as you said it yourself, we're Islanders whose country was already wrecked by climate change.
Does that mean we should be shooting ourselves more in the foot by discouraging and putting the blame on individuals trying to fight for change?

I don't doubt there will be some people who are like that. This game is an addiction for some people after all. But ultimately it's still a game.
I don't blame anyone who still wants to play the game, I genuinely don't. But if you want to show distaste by not spending money on DBD, or not playing the game. Either way works. I don't mind people who don't think this is a big deal. I disagree heavily with them and sure, I would often use sarcastic mocking tones with them. But they're free to have an opinion as much as anyone else.
With that said, I still won't touch this game until they retract this crap.

But what I was saying is workers are a priority compare to the company to me. The company is just a name, workers are real people.
You all are boycotting a name for a few human faults but you are impacting a hundreds of people.
For my own, I dont want to hinder the majority because of the mistakes of the minority.
I want to mention.
There is no such thing as ethical consumption under capitalism, but that doesn't mean we as individuals can't have morals.
Not to mention, you should not work to survive. You should work to have a livelihood. If someone is indeed in desperate need of a job to be able to have the basic human right to eat, to drink, to sleep safely under a roof. Then we have bigger issues to deal with than one company making a very awful decision.

No one here is being "woke". Half of the people on the forums aren't even anywhere close to what you people call "Woke".
Everyone here is mad for different reasons: The dishonesty, the deceit, the NFTs, BHVR blindsiding not just the community but also people working for them, corporate greed, licenses being held hostage, etc.

Hey. I'm one of those "Exclusive Demographics". Been buying every Rift since it started, even went as far as buying tiers when I was busy during that rift. Even made sure to have my killers look as unique and as different as possible to the regular skins if I can help it.
I assure you I won't be buying the current one nor any other cosmetics after this.
There are some people with more money than sense though.
It won't surprise me if that is why BHVR is supporting crypto and NFTs though, that scene is full of people like that

I'm just a human being whose morals aren't based on what is or isn't "law" but what I think is right or wrong. And I'm pretty damn sure that not trying to support a company supporting these practices in their market makes me a pretty good person even if my role in this is to inform and educate others.

If a lot of PC Players, especially actives and veterans leave the game, it will hurt the game. If the game gets negative coverage, it will force BHVR to act on something from the amount of community and media pressure.
People leaving the game and being obviously distasteful of it has an impact on DBD as a brand. It can cause new players to stop playing out of similar disgust.
You don't need to chalk this up to "people are just whining again." or "this will just come to pass."
No, people are genuinely just tired of this entire thing that's been happening for over a year now. Bad updates, bad chapters, buggy updates, cheaters, and now this. People are just so damn tired at BHVR constantly being a disappointment of a company that it genuinely has started a mass exodus of people leaving DBD on Steam and even Console.
It's not about how awful the thing is. It's about whether or not you can do anything to change it. It's the same as me worrying about a random stranger I don't know from across the atlantic vs. worrying about someone close to me.
People leaving and boycotting DBD (and hopefully for real) actually will hurt the game and BHVR as a studio because this will stick as long as Hellraiser sticks.
