I'm going to post here since somehow I'm still jailed even after my week of jail should be over.
But yeah, I'm done with DBD too. The only thing that will bring me back is them completely removing this license from the game and the NFT affiliations with it too. There's nothing I hate more online than dirty scammers, and at least with this scammer I can do something about it.
Thanks for the fun times everyone. Genuinely. It's been great. I loved every single one of your passionate selves, even if we sometimes disagree on stuff.

It's astonishing how quickly the rage and doom is spreading. Over nothing. Over some digital art some other company is selling and BHVR can't stop.
You'd think BHVR was caught engaging in human trafficking. XD
People, do you realize there is no purity? Look closely enough at everything you buy and someone, somewhere is being hurt.
Does that mean people can't be understandably enraged when they found out whatever they bought has hurt someone?
I get it, I get it. "There is no ethical consumption under capitalism."
But this is different. This is a game. It should stay that way. It should not open up the precedent that scams and scumbags from stuff like NFTs and Crypto are allowed and even welcomed in the video gaming community.
Epic and every studio that allows that is complicit in it's destructive nature, whether through actual destruction through pollution or someone getting suckered into this scam.
-
Remove the entire chapter. I don't care if I don't get a refund or I lost all my progress on Pinhead.
Just remove it and this NFT Bullcrap.

Considering how adamant steam seems about that rule. I doubt they’d care at all about a loophole like that and will ban it anyway.
Steam is taking a hard stance on it purely because they don't want to be associated with the idea of NFTs.
Which is curiously, something Epic is taking an opposite stance on. And they seem to be having connections to each other.
-
I might actually quit this game for good.
I am not mad, I'm just... Disappointed.

Feels like a copout. 'I allowed myself to be manipulated by lazy and malicious lies about X but it's not my fault because I don't trust X anyway.' We're only talking about a game here, but I can't agree with that kind of thinking.
Any hoax goes wild because the evidence that is there is verifiable enough until it's under massive scrutiny. There's no point in trying to seem like "Well, I would never fall for a scam like that.", point is it happened. And this should be more than enough reason for BHVR to work on regaining the community's trust so we wouldn't believe something as insane as this with some vague evidence.
It's easy to stoke anger in this community, you should know this by now. Much more so when it's directed at BHVR. And BHVR has done greedy ######### in the past to make a quick buck.
What do you want me to say? "I'm stupid and you weren't for not believing a rumour that was thought to be true."?

I don't want to believe it's true.
But the fact that I trust so little in BHVR to not even give them the benefit of the doubt until people started pointing out how fake it is, should tell you just how much trust the community had in BHVR that this was able to spread a lot.
I talked to friends on Discord about this and they STILL don't believe this isn't real. Not until BVHR confirms it themselves. Same friends also has been trashing BHVR's recent decisions.

Second of all, their official Twitter account was created in late September 2021, a month after the Pinhead PTB. Wouldn't you think this would be created much earlier? For example the official DbD Twitter account was created in Jan 2016, 5 months before the games official release.

While I'm not aware of how difficult it is to compete in this genre, I am aware of how difficult game development is in general.
I think you misunderstand me. I'm not telling people "love it or leave it". I'm saying that comments like "My cat could have come up with a better system", "This is the best they could come up with after 2 years", and "The Devs are so incompetent" does nothing to further anyone's cause. You're not going to get people to listen to you while you're shitting on them. If people actually want the Devs to listen, then they should present their constructive criticism and not just spew vitriol all over the place.
A lot of people are disappointed the devs lied to them.
They can express their disappointment and criticize them at the same time. We aren't going to just sit there and smile thinking "Oh, you could do better." No, this is a paid product. One that we continued to support through DLCs and Cosmetics.
I'm sure the devs would love for their community to not ######### on them, I would like that too. But when you're selling something, and you promise it's going to go one way but instead cheapen out and go the other way. People are going to get justifiably mad.
Let me put this in context to another dev that ######### up with their community.
Have you heard of a game called Ooblets? If you haven't, they were a crowdfunded Pokemon ripoff.
They promised their Crowdfunders that once the game is finished, they will give them Steam keys to play the game with at an early access.
-
They didn't do that.
-
Instead they took an Epic Exclusivity deal, shutting off everyone who was expecting the game to come to Steam because they promised for it to come to Steam.
You can argue "Oh well, maybe the devs needs the money." That's not the point. They were crowdfunded and now they're going behind their community's back to force a change on them that the majority of them do not agree with and are rightfully angry about.
Now, BHVR hasn't gone as awfully or as badly as Ooblets devs (who has physically and verbally attacked their fanbase in the past). But they also wanted to excuse not listening to criticism as being bad for their mental health.
I agree that not listening to toxic comments is better for your mental health in the long run. But a lot of these comments are LEGITIMATE CONCERNS over how the MMR system works. And a lot of them are also people wanting to hold BHVR accountable for essentially lying to us what the contents of it are and how the MMR system works. You have to understand there is a difference between toxic comments (outright attacking the devs) and people with legitimate concerns.

A lot of people make hyperbolic statements about how their pets could have done a better job, and how long everything took. I say this with all due respect - if you are certain you could do a better job, please do so. I would genuinely love to give you my hard earned money to play a better product.
You are aware how hard it is to make an asymm game and compete in the genre, right?
Why do you think people really want to see VHS succeed?
It's easy to just say "If you don't like it, leave." No, if there is a problem in this game, then it should ABSOLUTELY be ######### fixed.
DBD has an absolute hold on the genre because of the amount of licenses it has. The vast vast majority of players, myself included, pllays this game casually and for fun.
But this system is not fun, and I personally am not sold on other asymm games in the market right now that gives me what DBD has given me. So I could either just not play the game and abandon it entirely, or I could help pressure the devs to fix this #########.

"I think a lot of people are looking at mmr wrong.
It isn't a case of your mmr is higher so you are a better player. It isn't meant to be compared.
If a person can hide in a corner and still get out of the exit gate then shouldn't they start facing stronger killers who don't lose what bassically is a 3v1?"
"The original system that they say failed only took into account kills and escapes. This new system revolves around kills and escapes, but the amount at which your MMR increases/decreases is more complicated and based on things like how long it takes to die/escape/kill, and in what order.
It IS more complicated and nuanced than just dying or escaping, and that fine tuning is likely what makes this system work while the first one failed."

They’re not, they’re absolute garbage. I’d rather just use medkit + we’ll make it or lucky break. They should’ve removed the stacking and tested it from there, not make multiple nerfs without even seeing the impact of one.
... What? You can continuously bless totems. It's a med kit that keeps respawning.
You can either create a boon from a dull at 12 seconds, or cleanse one from a Hex (whcih is MORE devastating for the Killer) for 24 seconds.
Either way you're giving you (AND YOUR TEAMMATES) free healing and no aura reading. Medkits are the most powerful items a Survivor can bring, and now you can use it indefinitely if anyone brings a Boon.
Also, in case you're wondering, I'm waiting for Boon Totems to come and I would llove to play with and against them. But these nerfs were warranted.

Then we're agreed. The old rank based matchmaking was ######### and the new MMR is an improvement.
Under the old system, 45% of the time you were matched with players far above your skill level and you never stood a chance.
45% of the time you were matched with players far below your skill level and you wiped the floor with them.
That means the outcomes of your games were never under your control, they were predetermined by the entirely random matchmaking.
This new system, finally matches you with players who, relative your your MMR, are just as good at escaping/killing as you are. Matches are closer, and now the outcomes of the games are more down to how well you play, than whether or not you stuck out on the matchmaking roulette.
No, you completely misunderstood my entire argument.

People need to stop being so disingenuous and calling that a lie. It's not.
The first system ONLY used kills and escapes. It didn't work.
This new system is based on kills and escapes, but it modulates it based on the order of kills, and the relative MMR ratings of your opponents who killed/were killed/escaped.
This community doesn't know what is best for it. Like it or not kills/escapes, as a trend, is a useful measure of skill, in the context of matchmaking for fair games that have the best chances of resulting in a 2k. You don't consistently do either unless you're good at the game, relative to the level of your opponents.
Everyone who is throwing their toys out of the pram over MMR just need to ignore it, play the games as if it wasn't there (which is why it's hidden) and you'll see it all works out.
Stop comparing your MMR to other players, it's means nothing, because you don't play the way those players do, and your next game will be with different players doing different things.
Stop trying to raise your MMR, it's not a rank, it doesn't reward you with anything.
Let me just tackle this one reeeeeal quick:
Stop trying to raise your MMR, it's not a rank, it doesn't reward you with anything.
NO ONE is trying to do that. What we want are fair, balanced, and most importantly, FUN matches.
You think it's fun to get killed first? You think it's fun to do great in a game only for the game to give you lesser quality teammates and killers because you died saving your teammates in previous games?
You think it's fun playing against meta perks as a Killer? You think it's fun trying to play killers you are not good at but pushed up into the sweatiest matches possible because your main killer has SIGNIFICANTLY higher MMR than the other killers you play?
And then let me tackle this one:
Stop comparing your MMR to other players, it's means nothing, because you don't play the way those players do, and your next game will be with different players doing different things.
No one is trying to compare their MMR with other players. But we ARE comparing how the other players play in our games. And seeing a Claudette crouching on the other side of the map when the Killer is nowhere nearby when you obviously shouldn't be playing with someone like her or a Killer who can barely even ######### loop a pallet when you shouldn't be facing someone like them in the first place is a sign that the system is not working as much as you or the devs hoped it would.
And the fact that this is a constant in this forum, ######### Reddit, ######### Twitter, ######### other social media platforms and content creators chiming in and now with ACTUAL GOOD REASONS instead of them not being able to make frag montages shows that for the MAJORITY of people, it's not working as intended.
Even for casual players, I've watched my girlfriend who is new to the game constantly face killers who should not even be facing her at all. Killers with decked out meta perks with a hard intention to win. She is new.
She should not be facing a Wraith who slugs her to death constantly.
Now, let's move onto your other points.
The first system ONLY used kills and escapes. It didn't work.
This new system is based on kills and escapes, but it modulates it based on the order of kills, and the relative MMR ratings of your opponents who killed/were killed/escaped.
Imagine this scenario, though actually, don't imagine it.
Remember that one time where you, yes, YOU, carried a team because the old matchmaking tests paired you with low quality survivors.
Yes, remember that time you got camped and killed first?
According to this system, even if you did your best to evade the Killer, to keep them busy, to make sure your teammates do generators. If you got camped and you were the first to die, too-da-loo! According to the system you suck! And you will continue to get teammates you have to carry for as long as you never get an escape streak to get back to "where you should be" even though this system was advertised for people who want to play the game "however they want."
Oh no, I agree. The community usually doesn't know what's best for the game. It often knows jack and ######### about what's good and what's not for this game in terms of balance and changes.
But the community is sure right about one thing. NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY GAMES WHERE THE DECKS ARE STACKED AGAINST OR IN FAVOUR OF YOU! No one wants to play games where it feels like nothing you did in those matches mattered. I will reiterate. We want to play games that are fair, balanced, and FUN
It seems you forget the fun part. No one cares if a game is fair or balanced if you didn't have fun in it in the first place. Because who the ######### plays this game for it's balance? We play it for those fun moments that makes the game worth spending your time into.

Apparently it is safe to say that SBMM is only about escapes. Even the devs admited it now in an interview.
So whats the point if even the washed up pip system can tell you more about skill then the current SBMM? Why is it in the game?
For the record, the escaperate has absolutly 0 meaning if you are good or bad at a game, not even in the long run. This truth is reflected in my and probably in everybodys games. It is not rare the weaker survivors escape while the guy who takes the heat and runs the killer for a long time eventually dies facecamped on the hook.
Pips are not a good system to measure skill, but compared to that SBMM nonsense we have right now... i would even rather take that instead. At least you get props for contributing to the game like safing, getting chased and beeing useful in general.
Any opinions about that?
Honestly, pips are still bad. But it's a lot better at measuring how "good" you are than the current system we have.
It forces Survivors to focus on doing side objectives, rescue others, take charge and keep the Killer busy with chases, finish objectives.
It forces the Killer to spread out their kills, to end chases early, to keep the pressure up.

Then why is the new system working better?
YOU DON'T KNOW THAT!
Listen, I used to think the MMR was working. But in recent weeks I have been forced into games with ######### teammates and sweaty killers. I didn't understand what was going on. But the moment Patrick opened his mouth in the QnA and told us how MMR worked, I felt betrayed.
THIS WAS HOW THEY TOLD US IT WOULD WORK!
I really want an MMR system in DBD, but this ain't it chief.
I am not knocking you for your games being better under MMR, but this system is going to hurt a lot more than it helps. The community is giving BHVR a big red flashing ######### warning sign and they can either ignore it (because we're not "civil enough") or can acknowledge that there is a ######### issue with only taking kills and escapes into account for judging "Skill"
A newbie Bill can escape every game, a Blendette can use her teammates to constantly escape out of the gate.
But what about those people like me who want to be paired with good teammates but constantly plays playstyles that runs risk at lowering their MMR? I want to face killers and play with people who are on par with my skill level. But my experience the past couple of weeks has been ######### AWFUL.

80% of my matches were not fun under the old system.
I was a rank 6 killer, which meant I was paired with rank 1 seal team teabag every damn game. Because the matchmaking just grabbed anyone within 6 ranks, and rank 1s can only look down.
Now 80% of my games are fair (not too easy, not too hard). MMR is an all-round success.
If we're going by ranks, I was consistently Rank 1.
But ranks never mattered. The majority of players were in the Top 5 ranks in the game. Rank 1 though at the very least were based on the Emblem System. A system that (while not perfect) judged you based on your actions in the game.
Something the new matchmaking system is REALLY lacking. It was more skillbased than the current skillbased matchmaking.

My response is; So?
That's one game.
MMR isn't based on one game, it's a pattern, it's track record over several games.
Your MMR is only going to move if you are consistently dying or escaping more than the other. If you are consistently escaping more often than not, then you should be matched with killers who are better equipped to stop you escaping. Regardless of how you're escaping.
Let me rephrase it for you.
If 50% of your matches are not fun, would you keep playing the game?
No one is asking to escape every game. No one is asking to get a 4k every game.
Everyone is asking for the same thing.
We want the games to be fair AND fun. We don't want to sweat or feel the need to sweat. We don't want to stomp players nor get stomped. We want to play games where we can bring whatever perks we want and the game will pit us against players who also plays like we do.
We don't want to run meta perks because the meta is stale and boring. We want to ######### around in games but we continuously get punished for it either by winning OR losing. If you're winning, you might get an opponent who will not give a ######### if you had fun or not. If you're losing, you might get teammates who continuously screws up the easiest skill checks and loops as well as get bored from constant stomp fests.

All it does, it match you with players who are as good at escaping as you are.
Because I want to match with players that are my skill level? Either it being my opponent or my teammates?
Honestly that explains a lot why my teammates has been going downhill lately, because it's all based on ESCAPES!
It restricts you to focus purely on escaping, it doesn't reward you for the SEVERAL OTHER things you could do in the game. You could be running an altruism build and get yourself killed but three people escape.
But noooooo, you are punished for it because you died and the other three didn't.
It's not SKILL BASED.
I want to play with players I can have fun with, I don't want to stomp, and I don't want to be stomped. If my matches are potentially being put into a much more coordinated team I am not prepared for with my killer builds, then I will not want to play those games.

Hello Sluzzy, how are you?

I don't wanna mention it but TF2 literally has special events and brings back special halloween events every year.
And that game is considered on "life support"
-
Too bad I care more about the game being fun.

All his complaints are about him having an underlying competitive mindset. Notice how I am not talking about people in general but him specifically. Stop talking in his defense.
I don't think you quite understand.
It's not fun playing this game while getting stomped. And it's not fun playing this game while stomping.
From what I can tell, this person wants to enjoy the game as Killer but he doesn't have the resources to do anything about what other people brings. He cannot counter a fully decked out team while he himself don't even have Tier 3 on alll the perks he wants to bring.
He is at a disadvantage, the games he is playing is not balanced. Hence, he can't realistically play the way he wants to because the way he wants to will just lead him to getting stomped every match he plays.

If you let all the survivors escape then the next set of survivors are probably also likely to be allowed to escape. Therefore matchmaking would have been correct to derank you. Unfortunatly from your perspecive, this would prove that it works.
Alright.
Answer this for me:
Assuming this works as you think it does. That means that every game has to match you with opponents and teammates of equal skill level.
Then riddle me this.
What happens if a Killer brings NOED and a game they were losing hard on became a 3k at the very least because of that? What happens if a Killer has an awful early game and is making a lot of mistakes but he then snowballs into a 4k because he was playing a Killer like Oni or Michael? What happens if a Killer just facecamps every Survivor he catches? What happens if he is playing Bubba when that happens? And you don't need to assume I'm making up a hypothetical scenario.
This ######### has been happening a lot in this game. For far longer than MMR was first introduced.
If Kills are all that matters, then why do Killers who do (let's be honest here) absolutely nothing skillful being paired up with people who (supposedly) are?
Same with Survivor. I play Survivor a lot and I like to make sure everyone escapes if I can. If I am not hooked yet, I'll go out of my way to rescue someone being facecamped at the end of the game. Even if it means I am the one that is going to die in the end. Because to me that is fun. I like cooperating with my teammates. Those moments are what makes Survivor games for me.
Why am I not graded based on how well I loop the Killer? Why am I not being graded on how efficient I do generators? On how many survivors I can safely rescue and keep the killer busy while they heal? Why am I not being graded on a lot of the game sense that is pretty much REQUIRED to play this game with? Why is the only thing that matters in this system how many times you escape?
I can guarantee escaping constantly if I just hide and do nothing. If I just open gates or work on gens and hide like an immersed coward. But that isn't fun for me. And it isn't fun for the other survivors and the Killer as well.
Not to mention. According to PEANITS HIMSELF, the system is not graded on just "Kills and Escapes" there are Other Factors that are put into consideration. And with what Patrick said, it's pretty much a bold faced lie
We both want the same thing. We both want fair games. But I also want fun ones. I'm sick and tired of the stale meta. I hope Boon Totems shake it up a lot. I'm sick and tired of seeing the same Killers, I hope the buffs and reworks will change how effective they are to play so more people play them.
You know how excited I get seeing a Billy in my Survivor matches? It's literally one of the most exciting things I've seen in a long time because I HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN ######### AGES!
I just want something different in this game, and this MMR system isn't that
It's forcing people to feel like they need to play the meta to be able to have fun. because that is what the majority of people want. No one wants to just win with any means necessary. They want to run Any Means Necessary to get dumb and fun moments in this game.
Why the ######### do you think Survivor gameplay and Killer gameplay that goes off meta gets popular? Why the ######### do you think people like Demi actually has a viewership at all? Because we're all sick and tired of the same old ######### and want to see something new and play with that something new.
