Consider how TF2 is doing.
People still play the hell out of that game and it hasn't gotten a content update in years.
I'm pretty sure even if DBD no longer gets content updates (which I kinda hope is soon since I feel like we're reaching that point where every Killer and Survivor can feel bloated or a mix of several other Killers or Survivor perks) people would still play it.
They need to keep up with events and cosmetics which is what TF2 does to keep the playerbase busy and happy.
-
Have you been on this forum at all?
No one here likes BHVR, lol. We all think they could do a better job at the game and they just don't.
Some of us are more lenient than others but no one here (unless they're very obviously new) are ever going to defend them for their ######### optimizations and balance decisions.

You're still just operating off assumptions here. I could say the vocal minority are the ones complaining have have just as much of a chance of being right. I won't do that though because I know I'm not the authority on what the DBD community believes, you need to learn that you aren't that authority either.
Stop trying to pretend like you're operating off of "reason", some people like a character and that doesn't make them unreasonable. You have an OPINION that you're trying to treat as fact.
But please, keep seeking out these threads and getting angry, it's honestly pretty funny to watch. "Shut it all down"? Because you don't like it? How entitled can a person be?
Have you ever thought that people aren't listening to you because they have a different opinion? You're clearly not listening to the people who want the character so why should they listen to you?
I did, I've tried to listen to them. I've given my counter arguments. I've done ALL OF THAT. And the very fact that they kept ignoring my points despite me presenting my arguments is genuinely infuriating and frustrating.
So why should I give them more of my time and respect? You want my reasons why I think fnaf is a kids game? Social media and youtube especially has shown me that it's still very much kids content, it's one of the reasons why even as an SCP fan I object to it's inclusion of being associated with kids content.
Because this association is strong with fnaf, and unlike fnaf, SCP genuinely has crap that no kid should be interacting with.
You want my reasons why I don't think Springtrap would be a good killer? Aside from the association with fnaf, what kind of power could he realistically have that hasn't already been done by another killer that's WAY better?
And you want my reasons as to why I don't want to see or hear about this topic ever again? Because I don't want a game I associate with a problematic creator to be associated with a game I genuinely love to play despite the amount of frustrations it does give me. This is personal to me, as it shows me that people would herald for a problematic game and it's creator.
I'm not angry purely for the sake for being angry, I genuinely love DBD. And I would like to not see it stained with a property who I think would bring a lot more negative than positives to it.
My reasons may be personal, but my arguments are within reason. Or are you going to attempt to tell me I'm being unreasonable too?
But I'm done with replying in this thread. It's tiring, and believe it or not, people like you are worse for my mental health than worrying about a problematic franchise getting into a game I love for me. I will tell people to stop making these threads yes, but I'm so done trying to argue my case when it's clear no one wants to listen. Despite how many times I repeat it. Including now.

Oh cool, you have data showing that the vast majority are against this chapter? Where is it? I'd really like to see it. Or are you saying that because you don't want it and assume that other people feel the same way?
"Stop." isn't really a dissenting opinion either. Lay out your points of WHY you think the character doesn't fit DBD. Offering a dissenting opinion is awesome, stomping your feet because someone dared to make a thread about a character YOU (note this is specifically you, you don't speak for the community) don't want.
And this is coming from someone with no horse in the race. I don't care about FNAF, I just don't like when people start acting like children about the mere suggestion of a new killer they don't like.
Oh I have.
Multiple times. Multiple reasons. Across several threads. I'm just tired of having to repeat my argument knowing full well people won't listen like last time.
You want proof the vast majority of people don't want it? The very fact that threads like these cause trouble and infighting should really tell you why. And the people who are in the vocal minority for wanting it are usually the same couple of people. I can even recognize them when they appear.
I have given TONS of reasons why I dislike this chapter, including one related to BHVR's own Pride events and their dedication to being inclusive. But if I mention that I am pretty sure I'd get in trouble, so I try not to.
But I am done, I just don't want threads like these to exist anymore. It's clear people don't listen to reason, so shut it all down.

Yes, you added some wonderful contribution to the discussion, "Stop."
You know you can just not click the thread right? It's not that hard. When you see the word Springtrap, maybe get a stress ball to squeeze so you can calm down a bit. I know the mere mention of the character is something you personally feel the need to shut down, but trust me, it's not great for your health.
If you want to participate in the discussion, do so, but if you just want to tell people to stop talking about something because you don't like it then yes, I'm going to call you hostile. There are other threads, click on one of those instead.
You are aware what happens when someone doesn't come with a dissenting opinion, are you?
I do hate seeing these threads pop up, yes. But I wouldn't want people to start thinking there is any majority in favour of seeing fnaf in dbd. I do dislike the franchise for personal reasons, and even if those same exact reasons would make people uncomfortable or angry at me over it, I would argue their validity are more than someone wanting to just see some dumb robot in the game.
It should be made pretty clear with the constant fighting that the vast majority are not in favour of this chapter, and those who are are just a small clique of people posting in the same threads making it an echo chamber.

When one talks about Candyman, there seems to be no problems, but FNAF is the exception and ends up fighting like wild beasts for wanting his chapter. I would not mind having this chapter, the more licenses, the better for me, but the obsession of this chapter for many is as if they forgot that there are more special licensed killers in Dead by Daylight.
The difference with Candyman is because it was fueled from speculation of the fourth anniversary's theme colour being honey and bee coloured as well as that oozing liquid from the skull as well as the upcoming release of the Candyman reboot.
And people haven't really let go of that. Like at all. I know a friend of mine who was convinced Binding of Kin was a rushed replacement for Candyman since the movie got delayed thanks to Covid.

You also used to be able to watch ads for free things - anything from a green BP offering to auric cells. Their economy was so jacked up early on that I was able to get this amount of keys in about six months:

And all items + addons are shared among all survivors, so no problem with prestiging.

I don't know, I think the people who go out of their ways to seek out threads that make them angry so that they can complain are pretty hostile and volatile.
It's a discussion, the people who I know you're referring to as "hostile and volatile" have not done anything to warrant labellled that way.
However in cases of people like me, I am just honestly getting sick and tired of seeing these threads pop up.
-
I think the mobile version is just in general better because there is way more money to be made in the mobile market.
Don't forget this is the market where an unknown anime gacha game you never heard of can still gross over 10 billion dollars in revenue if the developers play their cards right.
A more friendly grind and constant rewards helps with the idea that the game is there for you to sink your time into every couple of minutes or so and spend money on cosmetics and stuff you want to buy purely because you got addicted to it and it became a daily routine for you.

Whenever FNAF is discussed, the forum is separated.
Which is why I asked for a complete ban on the topic.
It's clearly just going to continuously divide the forum more than it already does with the amount of fighting and arguing it leads to.
So why not just have a blanket ban on the topic completely?
-
I think the reason why people freaked out about it is that they think it would require them to adapt their playstyle.
But then realized it was such a non-issue that they could just play like normal.
-
I really do hate some of these challenges as a Solo Survivor.
My personal hate lies with Blood Debt. And that's to save a Survivor who saved you from a hook. That is just not guaranteed to happen unless you're ACTIVELY throwing the game to get a single point of progression so you can save that one specific survivor before anyone else.
And you need to do it 4 times.
-
Stop.
-
Licenses I don't want or have moral issues with.
There is a movie series BHVR has said they won't work with and if they ever do, even after the director's death, I'd be genuinely disgusted because that means they went against their word as well as continued to support a horrible person even after death.
Other than that, completely game breaking bugs and perks/killer combinations that makes it so the game is COMPLETELY unplayable on either side. And BHVR just outright ignores it completely.
-
Why isn't this topic just banned from this forum at this point?
It's clear that it only leads to fighting and arguing. I don't want fnaf in the game for various other reasons, but I am sick and tired of seeing these threads being made.

It's not that Self Care is a bad perk.
It's a good one, you can heal at half speed on your own without the help of medkits or other survivors.
The problem comes from people who rely on it. One thing you need to understand about high rank Survivor gameplay is that staying injured can be far more beneficial than getting healed especially if gens are about to get done.
Which is why everyone always tells you to bring medkits. You are never going to need more than one heal during any serious match. Because you either escape or get downed during a chase. And if you escape, you most likely can keep going injured and run into another survivor who can heal you up.
Saving you WAY more time and efficiency.
If you keep using Self Care, over and over, which is what I always see during my Survivor matches. You are giving the Killer more time than Ruin and Undying ever could. Because that is 36 seconds every single time you are injured that the Killer can take advantage of.
Remember, the only Survivor that the Killer has to worry about are not the loopers, not the stealthy immersed players. But the players who do GENERATORS. And if you're not doing Generators, you're not a threat to the killer. Especially if you're self caring whille Ruin and Undying are up.
So please, just as someone who plays Solo Survivor almost exclusively. Stop using Self Care and bring a medkit if you feel you need to heal. Because the more you learn on how to play whilst injured, the better you actually will be at the game. Why do you think a lot of survivors runs perks that can only be used while you're injured? Because being injured can be an advantage to you more than a disadvantage with perks like Iron Will, Dead Hard, and even Resilience.
So to quote Demi, STOP USING SELF CARE

Especially love the one on Autohaven that is directly in the center of the hill. Literally just out in the open, and basically begging people to cleanse the hex.
To sum it up in a movie quote, "The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!"
Oh that is even worse on Coldwind. Where they don't even try to hide it on the hills. They have ROCKS behind the totems to show you that it's glowing even when it's glowing outside. Like come on....
-
@Yatol said:
Probably to shake up the killer meta without touching noed
If that's the reason, then there is absolutely no reason to use hex perks anymore. Of course you'll still have people using Ruin/Undying since that is just objectively the best slowdown in the game. But what about the other hex perks that might get some usage?
Perks like Devour and Lullaby literally are worthless until you get some stacks, and if they get found quickly before you could even defend them, then what's the point of bringing them into a match?
Not to mention if you bring NOED, it's not going to really be a focus until that exposed status effect appears on the survivor's screen at the end of the game. And as someone with way too many solo survivor experience, I can tell you that even in Rank 1 no one does totems unless you yourself does.

Yeah, they are.
Except certain adepts. Or achievements that requires you to grind them out.

Although unfun to face, tunneling is not forbidden.
Additionally, what's hatch trick?
If I were to guess, they would wait by the Hatch as the Killer and wait for the Survivor to get nearby (hearing footsteps) or reveal their location through a generator getting popped and the close the hatch.
-
I have a tiered list of how much I am going to sweat based on what I see in the lobby:
Bloody Cosmetics - I'd take the game a little more seriously, but I wouldn't really sweat.
Bloody Quentin/Dwight - I'd actually start considering using powerful add-ons since no joke, these guys tend to be the best loopers in the game with the best game sense in the entire planet.
Keys - Cracks knuckles
Keys, Maps & Hatch Offerings - I'm going to just fully camp the person with the key. At that point I'm not really going to have fun, so why should the person who brings the key?
Multiple Toolboxes - I'd be more focused on creating a 3-gen. The first two generators are basically free at this point so I wouldn't even try to defend them.
Multiple Medkits - I'd change my playstyle. No need to hit someone if I could get a down instead. That goes for people trying to bodyblock during chase.
Haddonfield Offerings - I just don't. I'm leaving the game AFK for a while. If they really want to win that badly, I'll just give them the win. But without the fun. The difference between this and Keys, Maps & Hatch Offerings is that with Haddonfield, God House and House of Pain is just... no.
If I get the map randomly, I'd play it. But if someone brings me there, I just refuse.

Fewer cheaters, not no cheaters. Cheating is possible on any device, it's just harder to do on some of them. With consoles becoming more and more like cheap, neutered PCs, I'd wager console cheating is about to explode.
It's already happening

I'm imagining them all stacked on top of each other like...
Haddonfield
Raccoon City
Silent Hill
Hawkins
Gideon
That seems to make the most sense in this nonsensical scenario.
So is Haddonfield the top layer, with Raccoon City surrounding it, and you can enter a school where Midwich is. But underground there's Hawkins and Gideon?
-
I am having the complete opposite.
I have to wait up to 10 minutes as survivor but as Killer it's almost instant.
-
It's getting worse on Deathslinger too. So many shots that should've connected on my end just don't anymore. BHVR needs to fix something about their ranged killers please
-
I really wonder what was going through their minds when making the dailies for the licensed killers.
It's either the easiest or most time consuming challenges in the game.
Let's go for a rundown, shall we?
Myers has to tier up 4 times. Makes sense for his power, it means if he wants to get it in one game he needs to get TIer 3 three times. Which isn't that irregular in a normal match with him unless you're using add-ons.
And then there is Bubba, who needs to chainsaw a Survivor 4 times. Which again, makes sense. You would be using his power for the instadowns anyways.
Then we move onto Freddy, which is to achieve the Dream Chaser score 4 times. Basically just hit a survivor in the dream state. So just... Play the game...
But then we move onto Pig... Whose ambush power really isn't that great for the kind of Killer she is. So you have to usually force these hits either at the start of the game or on short loops, which most good survivors would try to dodge away from or mindgame it anyways.
Then Ghostface (originally) had a daily where you have to mark and down a survivor whilst leaning from a wall. Instead of just marking and downing them like it is now. Making it significantly more annoying than it already is.
After that we have Demo, who requires you to hit Survivors 5 times with a fully charged shred attack.
That's fully charged. In maps that sometimes don't even give him the time to do that. Making it tedious.
Then we have Pyramid Head which requires you to cage survivors instead of just hitting them with his special attack. Here's the problem. Anyone who rarely plays Pyramid Head is going to have a hard time getting survivors tormented to begin with. So this could take multiple games to complete.
After that of course, we have Nemesis. Who needs to level up to Tier 3 FOUR TIMES. And unlike Michael, when he is up there, he stays there. For 30k points, this is just something you throw in the trash.
-
@Customapple0 said:
when 3 gen strats exist, gens should stay the same.
Getting 3-genned is no one's fault but the survivors. Even when I play Survivor I recognize that.
You should recognize an area the Killer is protecting and immediately start focusing on it.
We're talking about gen regression here, not survivors being punished for mistakes they made during the match.
-
All I'm imagining is a horde of zombies that Nemesis controls so they could all patrol the 5 maps.
-
People who make their entire Steam profiles based around DBD is honestly nauseating...
Then again, I know I tend to get tunneled out of the game and when I asked why, they told me it's because my Steam name is "Killer Killer". That isn't even related to DBD.
-
Myth: Booping a pig's snoot is a guaranteed escape.

Okay, but seriously, I don't really have myths in mind that hasn't been mentioned.

You should see some of my games in solo queue. I've been playing for three years, and I'm a yellow rank. Rank reset is a thing. People have lives outside of DBD. It's absolutely ######### painful. Games also shouldn't balance around the highest level players, but that's what you're asking for - the game to change to make things easier for killers at the highest level, the smallest portion of people playing this game.
"Games also shouldn't balance around the highest level players, but that's what you're asking for"
Have you... Ever been in ANY multiplayer community before?
Games ABSOLUTELY should be balanced around the highest levels of play to prevent abuse. Actually, hang on, I remember a TF2 video about this.

We don't see any ping indicators in the video, so how is the video proving anything at all except that the killer seems to have had worse latency to the servers than the survivor?
Do you have some solid evidence that actually proves that the killer ping to the server is lower than the affected survivor ping to the server at the very moment when the pallet stun happens (and yes, the "at the very moment" is actually very important, because we're connected via Internet, so Jitter is a thing)?
KYF.
In KYF, the Killer is the one most likely hosting.
Meaning that the Killer has a lower ping than the survivor.
Or do you want to dispute that somehow?

I wouldn't to be honest, I think he is fine as is. But if I did have the chance, I'd remove the spam ADS. And give him an add-on pass.

Flashlight and pallet saves guaranteed, regardless of the timing:

ah.
Now I remember.
Yeah, that was genuinely ######### awful.

Want to know how the Rift can be better?
Add more stuff for the Free Tier. And make it so the challenges aren't actually so difficult that it's unreasonable to expect someone to go to the lengths they would have to go to for the amount of reward given. (Plague's challenge from the previous tome comes to mind)
-
@GeneralV said:

I think my favourite kinds of maps are maps that are more inherently balanced for both sides.
Like Father Campbell's Chapel for example. It's not too big, but it's not too unsafe for Survivors either.
If I play Killer, I'll feel like I have full control over how the match goes if I want it to be. It's why I like Coal Tower too. It's just consistently a good map for both sides.
So I guess something in the nature of those two maps is what I want more out of DBD.
I don't really care for aesthetics, it's one of the reasons I don't really give a ######### about the Realm Beyond updates. But if it's balanced properly, I prefer it.
