I am looking forward to do Adepts. SBMM will not directly help with that, but getting reset all the way back each month will make it easier to get Double-Pips.
Didn't think about that!
I can't wait for the new ranking system!

Me, who uses that cosmetic because I thought it looks cool

I always run Spine Chill, Iron Will, Dead Hard, and a perk of my choice for my tryhard build.
It's meant for a hybrid playstyle of chase and stealth. Which is what I love. I don't like full stealth, I think it's boring and detrimental. But stealth that helps me get gens done faster? Hell yes.
And as for Killer, I just run BBQ+Pop and then two perks of my choosing. If I wanna play to win it's just those two. I rarely use Ruin though (except on Blight)

Got to agree here, but I also must add that what we've gotten in the dev update also heavily suggests that their metric of skill is entirely based on kill/survival rates. As we all should know well: it's incredibly shortsighted to use only this metric, or even have a particularly high weighting on such, given the way the game works.
According to @Peanits it won't be using kills and escapes. But a variety of other factors.
What those are, we dont know.

I don't think so. All good players want SBMM.
Players that don't want it are mainly killers, especially red rank killers that clearly know they are top rank because they use cheap mechanics to win (i.e camping and tunneling).
1st, if the SBMM works great, those killers will be at the bottom of the SBMM rank system.
2nd, if at start they are at the top of the SBMM, they will face survivors that know what "gen rush against camper" means.
I really hope that the rank penalty for using camping and tunneling will be huge.
Those killers will have terrible trials and it will be well deserved. Developers implement a system that will get rid of all noob killers that have polluted the "high" ranks for far too long.
Not advocating against tunneling here, but there will be moments where you just end up running into the previous unhooked survivor because they ran straight into you.
I've had this happen to me yesterday and the day before and well, they were basically the weak link of the group.
While I agree camping should have a higher penalty (except during endgame as there is literally nothing else the Killer could do at that point or to defend), I do think the penalty for tunneling should be based more on how much time it takes before the survivor gets hooked again.
-
Had that happen to me in a game as well, their profile linked to a nonexistent DEVELOPER profile on PC.
Couldn't report them because I could not get their SteamID.

"here we are everyone thinks there the top % and will only play these 3. Most of you aren't the top and will see plenty of different killers. "
Forum users represent a small minority of the overall playerbase and are likely to be more experienced than the average player. I'd say its reasonable to assume a lot of the regular forum users are near the top percentiles.
"I'm sure there are plenty of every killer at the top"
And we just had a test that proved the opposite. As I said before, but you thought I "exaggerated", I played the vast majority of games during the test against Blight and Nurse. Spirit has been bugged for almost a month and a half or I would expect to see her more.
The best players agree only Nurse, Spirit, and Blight are viable against 4 good survivors, so why wouldn't you expect to only play against them with MMR active?
I don't remember the result of all my matches during the test. But I remember most matches were very short, and very boring. Teammates were all good so gens flew. Killer would have to tunnel/camp his/her first hook and hope Ruin stayed up long enough to make it a 3v1. Very rarely did someone on either side break 20k bloodpoints.
I would much rather try to carry a couple of below overage teammates and get a wider mix of killers/teammates than play the same match every time.

Friend, the forums are nowhere near the top percentiles of players. I wouldn't consider myself in the top percentile on either side. I'm good at Killer, I'm good at Survivor. But I'm certainly not good enough to challenge the people who have several thousand hours more than me.
And we just had a test that proved the opposite. As I said before, but you thought I "exaggerated", I played the vast majority of games during the test against Blight and Nurse. Spirit has been bugged for almost a month and a half or I would expect to see her more.
You will get a variety of players, I promise. Like how every game with MMR works, you're going to be losing some games at first but you will get back to your matches where you'll be playing against the survivors that's your skill level.
Even then, I've been going against a variety of Killers myself right now. Assuming you think just being in Rank 1 means I am in the "top percentile" of Survivors.
The best players agree only Nurse, Spirit, and Blight are viable against 4 good survivors, so why wouldn't you expect to only play against them with MMR active?
So they'll just play those killers. But you won't always see them every game. I haven't seen a Blight in ages and I've seen a Spirit and Nurse much more in Rank 1. It's going to give you way more variety in MMR, because in MMR, you will be playing against survivors that is your skill level. And if you'r eplaying a killer you rarely play, your MMR will be adjusted accordingly.
I don't remember the result of all my matches during the test. But I remember most matches were very short, and very boring. Teammates were all good so gens flew. Would you kindly tell us how the MMR will be factored in? What will be judged? How will a player rank up or down in MMR?
Here's the thing. You don't know how it exactly will work, none of us do, BHVR hasn't given us any details. What we know though is our own experiences with the MMR that has been tested in the PTB, and it works

Yes. Let's pretend it's that. And not how unbelievably miserable killer is at the highest levels. How broken gen speeds and maps are at the highest levels
But you won't be at the highest levels of play.
Unless you expect to 4k every game, you most likely will NEVER be near that level of survivors.
Survivors who are optimal and escape every game will never meet killers like you. If MMR works the way it's intended (which from the experiment, it seems to be), then you won't suffer as a consequence of it.

Yeah streamers have a good reason for being against SBMMR. Because then they suddenly won´t be able to show their "watch me get 50 4ks in a row" streams. Because they will actually face players at a similar skill level.
Pretty sure Otz even said "The Nemesis 50 Wins Streak in a Row will probably be the last 50 Wins Streak video before MMR comes out"
Really, that is what wins streaks are. There are a lot of tough games, but the majority are often curbstomps. Not that those videos aren't impressive in their own right, I still think getting 50 wins without add-ons is already amazing. But you get what I mean.

I think most people who play the game casually won't see killers like Dowsey or Otz or god forbid teams like Oracle. Their MMR would be too high for that.
-
Personally I don't think a crosshair would help that much. Since Huntress' hatchets go at an arc so you will still need to play her often to get an idea of what to do with her.
It will make a lot of people who play her for the first time boosted though

Umm what? Ok a few things, old BT was busted, why not bring old MoM, old DS as well?.
You don't need moris, there is this new technique called........looking around for flashlight saves or stare at a wall.
This game is toxic? I wonder what would people call mw2 lobbies these days if you think dbd is toxic.
I too miss old dbd, 2018 dbd.
If you want to pip try the 2/2/2 method, 2 chases, 2 saves and 2 gens.
If you think someone is teabagging to catch your attention, ignore them and go for someone else, let them get bored in the hold m1 on a gen.
Also tunneling is the most efficient way to win just like holding m1 on a gen, if someone is camping just do gens and leave, do not feed more kills.
I just want to highlight this real quick
If you think someone is teabagging to catch your attention, ignore them and go for someone else, let them get bored in the hold m1 on a gen.
The chaser playstyle is often better for you as the Killer because they may be trying to get your attention the entire game. Either by trying to get flashlight saves or by trying to force you into a chase with them while there are still a lot of resources on the map.
That is essentially a free "hooked" survivor if they never go on a generator.
It's one of the easiest to counter playstyles out there but it is also one of the most efficient playstyles out there to waste the killer's time.
If you see a clicky clicky, assume they're just wasting their time and go after a weaker link. More often than not you'll catch them off guard and hook them before they could even do anything for the chase.

i never purposefully be toxic unless someone is genuinely trying their best to ruin my game. its much more fun for me to hear "gg you were really good pyramid head" than "go ######### youre not good at this game"
Honestly, at the end of the day it is a game.
And the person I am playing this for ultimately is myself (and my girlfriend if I'm streaming over Discord)
Whether or not they had fun, or they rage, makes little difference to me other than getting more satisfaction that someone would go as far as waste their time on me over a game of DBD.
If I get kills, that's fine. If I make a survivor DC by just playing the game, that's fine.
I saved clips of all of them to rewatch since I genuinely do love observing and watching my opponents act out of line over a video game.

I admit, i also like chases. What i don´t like is running in circles. Some people think, that running 12 times around the same pallet is a good chase. But that just feels boring. A good chase should go over several tiles and allow both sides to mindgame.
I think a good indication of a good chase for me as Survivor/Killer is when I feel like I've outsmarted my opponent.
Like you said, it's boring if you just run around the same tile over and over again. But even if I go down, I like my chase to end in a way that makes it feel like I've tipped the game in my favour. Either with my teammates completing three gens in a row (the most satisfying to hear as Survivor, but also the most dreadful thing to hear as Killer)
Or as Killer, taking down a Survivor by just outsmarting them and mindgaming them.

I guess we both have opposite opnions on how we have fun in this game.
I'm not one of those killers who intentionally slugs or tunnels or does stuff to intentionally piss people off.
I'm also not one of those killers who really cares about kills because at the end of the day, it's a game.
I am however someone who LOVES the anger and rage that survivors gives me when I beat them fair and square, and I always try to play games to get that result.

If you would have read, I talked about stacking Slowdown-Perks. Not saying about not running any Slowdown-Perks. I also use Corrupt Intervention on almost all Killers, it is not like I am not using Slowdown-Perks.
But if your build is Corrupt Intervention, Ruin, Undying, PGTW, you are just trying to prolong the game to a point where the Survivors are out of/very low on ressources, which makes it very easy to catch them.
And what necessarily is wrong with that?
If that build is working fine for them then it's working for them.
And it's not like those perks are without risk as well. Corrupt can force a Killer to chase a survivor in a part of the map where they cannot simultaneously pressure generators while in a chase. Ruin and Undying can be removed. And you can't use pop when a Survivor can't be caught.
You still need to be able to catch survivors, and generatosr will most likely be completed before pallets run out because of a little thing known as WINDOWS
-
@Aven_Fallen said:

Of course you make the game easier for you when you try to turn it into a battle of attrition instead of getting fast downs by simply being better than the Survivors.
But even if you get fast downs, you're still running against the clock.
What the ######### are you talking about? I barely miss as Huntress and I still feel the need to use Pop. I barely lose as Wraith and I still use Surge and Oppression.
If survivors are efficient on generators (which they often are if you're playing against a team who wants to win and play optimally), you have at most 8 minutes before the game is done. And that is assuming that there is only one survivor on each generator. But that's not always the case is it? Good survivors always splits up to trump perks like Discordance and to be more efficient on generators.
You know how much time you can give by predropping pallets? 2-3 generators can fly by because you're chasing one survivor and the other three are working on generators.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:

Sorry, it is the easiest way to play Killer. The longer the game is, the stronger is the Killer. If you stack Slowdowns, you prolong the game, removing ressources, Health States, etc., which makes it easier to reach the point to ######### the game into your favor as Killer.
Another way would be to down players quickly, but this is more difficult.
So giving yourself more time is now making the game EASIER for you. By giving yourself more of a chance against Survivors.
Right, that makes sense. /s

It won't fix much, people will still dodge keys since they will remain unfair.
That's the core issue with keys though. It is a free escape. And unless the devs change that core mechanic it's not going to change much.
But limiting how unfair it can be is definitely the best way to do it without making them basically unusable.
-
I hope the rework is "Keys will now only work for the survivor who uses it."
And that's it.
The issue with Keys is that you can make Survivors escape with everyone still alive without finishing generators.
It's why it feels especially unfair. Since if you do close it, now the exit gates are open.
No, Keys should just allow that one survivor to escape and then done
It shuts back up and the generators aren't powered. It's a selfish escape.
-
Even if I don't see Blight enough to see this build run in Red Ranks as much as the forums would like to lead me to believe, I still don't think it's that bad of a build/synergy.
It synergizes well with mobility killer and gives the Killers an easier time to pressure generators without wasting time to exert that pressure. I think @Warcrafter4 said it best.
This is the FAIREST meta build in the game so far. Since the Survivors can absolutely counter the build and the Killer still needs to actually chase the Survivors down as this build has no help with chase whatsoever.
I don't necessarily agree with people calling it braindead, I genuinely do think that calling something braindead or boring is not at all constructive on changes into the game. I may not like certain killers or certain builds survivors run, but I won't go as far as saying the person running it is any worse for choosing to run a perk combo or bring items/add-ons that helps them win the game.
I'm not entitled to a win and neither is anyone else. So if you lose to anything you see often, tough #########. Grow up and realize it's a game. You win some, you lose some. Unless it's actual ######### harassment, people whining about ######### like this is just embarassing.
With that said, I do think that there are stronger meta builds out there. Personally I run BBQ, Surge, Oppression, Pop on M1 Killers. Since I find it to be more efficient than the aforementioned "Small PP" build. I often find people complaining I'm running this in the post-game chat, lmao.
-
I mean.
It's just common sense to hook a survivor to counter their perks. It's why you go for Adam first (if he exists in a match) or expect Dead Hard from David.
I agree that expecting Bill to be UB is the most common example though.
-
Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Have you played a game like TF2 before?
Let me show you something.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iEXhbqami8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvOaUF1Sl5cNo, even shooters have issues with hitboxes. You just rarely see them as much as DBD because in DBD, when a hit connects it's infrequent and it hits hard. Who cares if you get a headshot by a Huntsman in TF2? You'll just respawn after a couple of seconds and be back in the game. No biggie. Even if the Huntsman as a ######### larger hitbox than average for headshots which isn't a thing for Sniper's other Primaries.
So if you see a Huntress hit you where you don't think you should be hit on your screen, that's the server seeing two hitboxes collide even if they don't overlap that well on YOUR screen. It's why we're also having issues with hit validation right now. The server is so ######### at conveying accurate information to the player.
I'd argue that DBD's hitboxes have the same issues as other games, you just see it more often in DBD because every hit counts way more than single missed bullet in an FPS.

They could change them to be standard instead of the third hook.
But they should remove the offerings. Since killers shouldn´t be forced to pay bloodpoints for that animation.
For their Ingame shop, they could offer different moris for every killer. So each person can choose between 3 or 4 different animations and select them like charms.
Honestly? I'd pay a buck or two for more mori animations for a final kill.
It's thematic of a horror game after all. The final kill before the credits must be something gruesome and horrifying.

Nurse need à buff
Pig more nerfs
Other killees that needs huge buffs wobt get them cause of low rank kills
Yeah its à shity system
And trickster is also à proof out of how thzy dont listen to feedback (yet another)
I can now down as quick as ever with him, yet still loose the game cause ive got no map pressure
That's the problem with these killers really.
As fun as Trickster is to play, like Clown, you can't do much with the overall map pressure.
Chase oriented Killers needs to be REALLY good and REALLY oppressive to be able to keep up with other Killers who thrive in the high ranks.
It's why Huntress and Deathslinger are seen as oppressive or "annoying", but Trickster even after his buff is still seen as a joke.
He just isn't good enough to justify playing if you play to win.
Can you win with these killers? Yes. Definitely. Hell, I'm watching Otzdarva's 50 Wins Streak series right now. But he made it very clear that with the emergence of MMR, that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to do another 50 wins in a row series with the current ruleset for other killers because they can't keep up with how fast this game can go.
Do I advocate for slowing down gen progress? Absolutely ######### not. I play Survivor too, I wouldn't want to make the game for Survivor especially Solo Queue harder than it is right now.
I do think though that a Killer shouldn't put in 4x the amount of effort as Survivors putting in 1/4th the amount of effort.
It should realistically be the other way around with how asymm games work. And I'm not talking about making it easier for the Killer. I'm talking about making the objective more reasonable to defend (Removing gen tapping to stop a generator from regressing for example) on the Killer side, and make the Survivor side be encouraged to do additional objectives to progress towards their main objective.
But is BHVR going to listen to this? Are they going to consider it?
No, of course they ######### won't. Because they're addicted to stats and data. Stats and data that doesn't tell them ######### about the state of the game.

It censored the word "HELL" for me.

It gives me just another chance for devour hope
And stats dont actually help to have à perfect balance (aka pig having à high kill score, but that isnt actually that strong)
I agree that it doesn't.
But that is how BHVR operates. They make decisions based on stats, not player feedback or experiences.
They can argue against me on this of course, I'm sure a CM has. But you can't deny that BHVR doesn't work on ballancing the game using actual real game experience and mostly relies on "kill rates" and "pick rates"
By their own standards and metrics, Nurse needs to be buffed. That's how ######### it is.

MMR won't immediately make things better, but it should provide the devs with better data for higher skill play and help them make balance changes in the future that address high rank play. Right now we have red ranks which has such a huge skill gap between red rank players that it's basically impossible to get any real useful data from it.
I don't know who said it, but I am reminded of how Rank 1 in DBD feels more like the Top 50% of ranks in other games with Rank 5-20 being the bottom 50% of ranks in other games.
I feel like when people ask the devs to balance over high skilled players (like I've asked in the past), I do think they don't really understand what to balance the game around. We've seen how they work. They focus more on statistics rather than actually experiencing the game for themselves.
They tried tackling DS and even with the amount of nerfs and changes it has, it's still ever present enough for the Killer to change how they play the game. Same with BT, DH, UB.
And same with Ruin and Undying. They tried making the combo less useful but people still run it over other slowdown perks because there is genuinely no other perk that is better than these two perks combined to slow the game down and give yourself time to breath as Killer.
But they keep seeing statistics about these perks without actually tackling what's wrong with them.
