Devs once said, that gen slowdown perks shouldn´t be obligatory. Turns out, they are. Not only when facing survivors of the same skill, but also if you play against survivors with a lower skill level.
Which means the balancing in that regard is far off.
I honestly think the Early Game Collapse became Corrupt Intervention so they could sell us the ‘fix’
-
Because Artist can fire them to injure survivors without having to be there and moves at 115%, whereas Hag moves 110% and has to teleport to the trap to injure.
-
I don’t think you have to be a ‘killer main’ to see CoH needs changing.
I honestly think they could revert all the nerfs and just change it like Hexes where once it’s snuffed out it can’t be replaced; as that’s the issue with it, infinite heals for the whole team that the killer player cannot stop.
It’s very shortsighted to hear the devs say it isn’t game changing when it has literally changed the meta and way the game is played for the first time in ages.
-
On PS4 there are no options so the default is ground clutter everywhere making it hard to see, some maps are too dark to see anything and there are no brightness options (I’m not messing with my TV so every other game looks too bright), 10-20 fluctuating FPS, and intermittent freezing whenever an action or power is used by anyone anywhere on the map.

Like, you hit the point of effectively infinite pressure and it's an obvious win?
I put a cake in, someone put BPS, but I am doing so much harm to the survivors that I've gotten them all on death hook and just hidden in the basement so they can at least get something out of these two offerings and not just die with like 4k bloodpoints each.
Honestly as either role the games now always seem to go one way or the other; either I’m stomping or getting stomped, no in between :(
I think an issue is the matchmaker and MMR not taking certain things into consideration which aren’t based on RNG.
Like I can go into a game with as killer with crappy addons and meme perks and get wrecked by a SWF with matching names; then next game go in with the best addons and a meta build but get put with random solos doing things newer players would do. I really think it should take these sort of things into account when finding a match, though I don’t know how or if that would be possible.
Same vice versa too; I play solo survivor using a meme build and get matched with teammates doing weird things and get stomped by an amazing killer who knows I’m going to sneeze next week, then I play with friends or get paired with an obvious SWF and stomp a killer that keeps missing swings and plays they it’s their first time.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/318712/range-killers-on-switch-or-console-in-general
I play primarily on PS5, which has pretty nice controllers, but the support for controllers (generally) in game is definitely lacking.
I don't have issues with most of the killers you mentioned, but hitting longer range shots with Huntress, Artist, and Trickster takes another layer of concentration, for sure. Not impossible, but not nearly as smooth as with a mouse.
Some of it just inherent, too; a controller is something supported solely by your hands and subject to motion generated by other hand movements, so it will never be as stable and precise as PC peripherals sitting on a flat surface. Not much to be done for that, unfortunately.
I can hit range shots just fine on Apex etc, but that has way more controller options such as various response curves, acceleration and dead zone options.
Any first person view game should have this sort of thing in 2022 especially when it’s been out as long and as successful as DbD has been.
Even though hitting shots can be possible on controller in DbD; there is often a trade off between having correct control over ranged attacks, and being able to keep up with survivor movements which can often be faster than you can turn.
Even something basic like Dual Zone would be a huge QoL improvement, where the inner 50% moves slower and can be used for fine aim, where the outer 50% moves faster and can be used to turn quickly. Most FPS’ use this sort of thing as a default curve now because the same issues can arise with something like Apex where you have to play at both extreme long range and extreme close range all throughout the matches.
-
I loved the original and would really like it back; if not however then a version similar to Pinhead or even Sadako could be cool.

Well.
from what I have seen people want to get away from consoles and start on PC with their console progress. And since it is pretty successful I guess the platform owners (Sony and Microsoft) have gotten their fair share off purchases regarding this game on their platforms (DLCs and auric cells). Now if people will get the easy ability to abandon their consoles to then not purchase anything there but on the pc version I guess as the platform owner I would think about it twice to allow this.
If console was fixed optimisation and performance wise to an acceptable level, then less people would be looking to jump ship.
It’s sad really and quite depressing to not feel valued as a format while content is still being sold on it.
I was really hyped for Sadako as wanted her since before Spirit was added and thought after that we would never see her; but after returning to test a few games out there has been almost no progress made to address the performance issues that have severely plagued older hardware since the Nemesis DLC. There’s just no point buying content for a game that doesn’t function well, especially when there are next gen games like Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands running great and without issue on last gen consoles while having a massively bigger scale, looking a lot better, and having many more game systems in place during play than DbD.
If the game was improved to a reasonable level on older hardware, I would not be as fussed about cross progression and would just go back to supporting the game by spending my money on the DLC for my current hardware, but I just don’t feel valued as a player any more.

Pretty sure you won’t get an official statement as BHVR is still trying to get it and hence probably legally unable to openly talk about the reasons.
though speculation on my part: did those game start with cross progression? Are there contents available that are being shared and thus only need to be purchased on one platform and others would miss out? Is the performance/optimization on the platforms differing as extreme as DbD?
Both games have an in game real money purchase store as well as purchases you can make through PSN, the same as DbD.
Yugioh is the same game and progress across all platforms; thought any real money bought currency is locked to that format and it uses the multi format freely given paid currency first before any platform specific ones when making in game purchases of content.
Apex is the same game across all formats but obviously has performance differences with last gen consoles running at 30fps and with the new next gen versions recently updated to run at 60fps, with PC running at more depending on hardware.
I don’t understand how that would make a difference to cross progression though especially as DbD has been out for so many years on these formats and also been so successful.

Our position re cross progression is the same as it always has been, whilst it's something we would love to do and we will continue to try to make this happen, it's not something that we can guarantee either way. As it's not solely down to ourselves with regards to implementing this.
How come games like Apex Legends and Yugioh Master Duel have cross progression between all formats including PC and PS4, but DbD doesn’t?
Genuinely interested what the reason other games can do it but DbD can’t are
-
This is the problem with kills not accurately showing what happened during a match.
These guys could’ve just not escaped and let the killer kill them at the end and despite all the gens being done and exit gates opened in 6 minutes or so people here would be saying you got a 3/4K so it’s fine and balanced.

I need everyone’s opinion on this cause this is kind of tricky. Do you think the Ringu Chapter Flopped or didn’t? I think it did cause everyone has stopped talking about Sadako and her impact isn’t as big as Michael Freddy, PH or nemesis.
the fact that the player count didn’t even go up on a LICENSED character, and that no one is talking about her anymore. I need your opinions
For me it’s nothing to do with the character.
I really wanted Sadako since before Spirit and when she was made I never thought I’d see a Ringu chapter.
Was super hyped and returned to try the game out before spending money like I did with the Nemesis DLC, and the fact the game still runs so poorly on my last gen PS4 is the sole reason I cannot justify spending money on this game when it doesn’t seem to value me or my format as a player.
If the game ran stably on my console then I would happily spend the cash to unlock her as one of my favourite horror characters: even if she does fall victim to the game balances hatred of M1 killers.
Until then it doesn’t matter how good or bad she is if the game doesn’t run to an acceptable standard for me, I spent my money on Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West and Tiny Tinas Wonderlands which all look better, run better, and are much bigger in scale, size and mechanics active during play than DbD.

Elden Ring was great but I am skeptic about ttw because I didn't like b3 as much as b2. I completed it tho, dlc's included.
I enjoyed the first BL but not the 2nd or 3rd, however TTW has really grabbed me!
It has character creation so I’m not put off by no having a character I like with the playstyle I want; also a combination of the board game aesthetic and the humour in this one have really struck a chord with me :)
-
The obvious solution would be to add an opt in voice chat for solo survivors in game and then adjust balance accordingly, rather than making small changes that barely change anything over years while both solo survivors and killers suffer.
-
Elden Ring and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands :)

At this point you really need next gen console to play the game without any issues. I played on Xbox one X for a long time and bought a series X a few months ago and it's 100 times better. Still isn't perfect but it feels significantly better to play.
If the game and DLC is being sold for money on last gen consoles, then it should work without issues on those formats; it’s inexcusable.
It looks especially bad when next gen games like Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring look and run way better on last gen systems than DbD and are a lot bigger in scale of the world plus the in game systems in place.
DbD is a very basic game that has just been neglected performance wise in favour of piling new content on top of broken and outdated foundations.
The just upgrade excuse is tired and as you say, it doesn’t even run without issues there either. The new consoles have only been out a short time and it’s just a matter of time before things get bad on the new consoles too. What will you do then except wait 5+ years for a new upgrade to come out?
We don’t even have cross progression to switch formats and even if so that’s not a good enough answer when the game is still being sold on formats it’s known not to work very well on. I feel sorry for Switch players tbh as things are bad enough for me to stop playing on my old standard base PS4.

I'll put my top 3 I wish were changed or updated, this game is great but I wish we could start to move away from the whole "running in a circle" in any given chase ever feature some of these maps got going on. I understand it's like one of the few things to lose the killer but I just wish there was other safe zones to use or something than running in circles.
- SWAMP
- Coldwind Farms Maps
- Midwich Elementary
- Swamp is bad because it's grey everything and i personally cant find anyone ever.
- Coldwind Farms more like Haddonfield 2.0
- Midwich has pallets at every corner, anywhere it's ridiculous
RPD as it’s not only enormous but also maze like, I can’t find my way around despite playing all the Resi games/versions; on either killer or survivor.
I really think it should be split into 3 variations with either the lobby and left side, or lobby and right side.
In the Resi games you often have to open up sections that are blocked, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to lock some of the doors, drop shutters or barricade paths with stacked furniture.

Actually they have so much survivors. Andy (adult version, not kid), Andy's mom, blonde lady from second movie (i don't remember her name), police officer from first movie (the guy who killed Chucky while he was human) and some characters from tv series.
Agreed!
Andy would be great though I could see Kyle (blond female) being a strong choice; especially after the events of the series.

There's a new Chucky TV Series? How is it? lol im curious
The TV series is super good, you should definitely check it out!
Its being released on Bluray start of May this year.
There are multiple Chucky dolls which could be a feature of the killer power. It follows on from the last movie where Chucky has possessed Fiona Douriffs character and when she gets control back she reverts to her immobile state as someone who requires a wheelchair to get around.
I could see the power being similar to VHS’ Puppetmaster, where you plant dolls as the human character and can possess the different ones while leaving the human body on the floor.
It also has some diverse representation which is something people talk about wanting more of in DbD; though iirc some of the main characters are a little younger so would probably need the Nancy/Steve/Laurie treatment to make them canonically 18.
There are a few good choices for survivors from the TV series including some returning characters.

There is some really cool creativity when it comes to the look of characters particularly killers, maps and the overall style.
The chase and menu music is also pretty great!

If there was gate regression you'd see at least one survivor at the gate keeping it 99 while the rest unhook or do whatever. I'm sure killers would complain about that too
As long as the killer gets 1 kill before the gens are done, and 1 on the hook at the end; then this would mean only 2 survivor trying for an unhook rather than 2.
Currently 1 will fake an unhook to get hit and use the speed burst to run for the exit, while another unhooks while the killer is blade wiping and runs for the exit.
Exit gates regressing would massively change the current endgame where the gate can be 99’d and it’s almost impossible for the killer to do anything to stop 2 or more survivors getting the unhook.
If the consensus is that it really wouldn’t make a difference, then let’s add it and see what happens!

I understand what's being said on this thread...can I suggest trying the MMR tests and supplying your feedback based on those tests - without preconceived ideas about whether it's going to work or not?
I can assure you, as you can see by the fact we created a separate section for this alone, the feedback is something we're taking very seriously. And I will be monitoring it daily.
I worry the RNG aspect and other factors are impossible to see how it affects the test.
1 game I could play a killer with no addons and get stomped so it feels bad; the next bringing strong addons and stomping or survivors killing themselves etc.
Also surely factors like maps can affect both sides with some being easier to play effectively depending on killer chosen or survivor knowledge etc.
Can you say anymore about this or do you have to keep it all unknown in the interest of it being fair for everyone?

Optimise your game. Fix the coding.
It's been 6 years too long. DBD, to this day, is the ONLY game that consistently overheats my PS4 within a matter of one/two games - and there are many games which are far more demanding in terms of map area and graphics that take much longer to do what DBD does in just 30 minutes of playtime.
If games like GTA, Overwatch or any RPG game (say Dragon's age) with larger scale maps, larger scale player teams and larger scale graphical details can run smoothly then DBD has no excuse. My PC isn't even a year old, has some of the freshest parts available yet it only experiences jittering and freeze frames on THIS game.
Stop giving the game graphical updates and details if you're not willing to work on the longest standing issue in the game yet - which is the performance.
Even newer next gen open world games such as Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West look and run amazingly even on my original old standard PS4; it’s definitely a case of poor optimisation and not a hardware problem.
Both those games are much bigger in scale and have many more systems happening in the world at the same time.
I wish they would focus less on adding new content which makes the game struggle more and concentrate on making sure the content that is already there performs to an acceptable standard on the platforms they are still charging money for the game/dlc on.
Very frustrating and makes me feel like we are not valued as customers despite making up a large part of the dwindling playerbase.
I really wanted to buy the Sadako chapter but playing a few games confirms that nothing has changed and I would be wasting my money on something that would have the same issues as the other content I bought and am dissatisfied with the performance of.
Sad and depressing.

Now imagine using a controller but on a last gen console with added freezing, frame drops, stutters and lag. It’s miserable and depressing.

I hate the ones to unhook survivors, especially if it’s one of the first in a Tome; as it just leads to everyone hook diving and farming the player because everyone is desperate to be the one to get the challenge progress - no one doing gens, everyone floating around the hook; then complaining the killer is camping/tunnelling.

I think the saddest thing I've seen from this game is how obsessive some of these players get to be. I play PC for online gaming. I never played online multiplayer in any console. DbD had forced me to private my steam profile, and disable comments. However, players went out of their way to search my username online to find my online gaming profile for PSN, just to send me hate mail, calling me slurs, and telling me to kill myself.
I found these messages when I was setting up my PlayStation to watch Disney+ with my son (and family). It was my breaking point to start talking about this big problem in the community that isn't being addressed.
I learned you can disable receiving messages from everyone in PSN that night too.
I disabled messages on PSN from people not on my friends list; now I just get friend requests with nasty messages attached.
As others mentioned, it doesn’t seem to matter who ‘won’ or how you played.
Bad losers are sort of expected but I’ve never seen so many bad winners in a game community before, and I’ve spent a lot of time playing fighting games where similar behaviour can be a thing.
I have depression and anxiety myself and there doesn’t seem a perfect solution; either put up with the toxicity and suffer, or quit playing the game you love and suffer. I also struggle playing the killer role as often my anxiety is so bad sitting on the lobby screen before I’ve even started searching for a game, like some sort of PTSD from all the previous terrible experiences and I just end up lobby dodging endlessly.

SBMM - Encourages unfun gameplay of camping by killers and hiding for hatch by survivors. Emblem system before would punish these playstyles but now they're found all through out the different levels of mmr. Players with a few hours are being matched with/against players with thousands. Matches just feel broken. Ultimately this drives away veteran players unhappy with how bad the matches feel now and new players that are just getting thrown against players they can't compete with.
The grind - it's a deterrent more than anything, especially for new players. New player picks up game and DLC for whatever license attracted them. Then they realize other perks are teachables from multiple other DLCs so they maybe buy those. But then they start to see that the grind makes it difficult to unlock those perks on character they want to main. BHVR gets their money but they drop the game because they realize the grind is ridiculous.
Optimization/bugs - performance issues are just terrible. It ruins what could be a good match. It's like they take 1 step forward and 10 steps back with patches/hot fixes. Gets to a point you just get tired of dealing with them and don't see any signs of it ever getting better.
Meta perks and killers - there's so many perks and killers but only the same handful are played match after match. Maybe will see random loadout/killer but it's unlikely. It's just repetitive and boring after awhile. Survivors running second chance because camping/tunneling killers, killers running gen slowdown and NOED because gen rushing survivors. Boring repetitive gameplay.
Bad communication - BHVR has terrible communication. Players are frustrated with issues in the game and BHVR goes radio silent until it gets ridiculously bad. Sometimes when they do say something they have people that just are not the ones to be the face of the company speaking - these people aren't bad, they are just coming across condescending and not personable enough to make the angry customers feel better. So angry players are getting more angry looking for some sort of communication to address an issue, BHVR finally decides to address it but chooses someone that shouldn't do PR because they say things that just get players more angry and as a result some just leave. Honestly I think this one is the biggest - BHVR needs to work on their communication/customer relationship to build back trust they've lost over the years. If you have a good relationship with your customers they'll not get so angry/frustrated at the minor mess ups.
This! OMG all of this! Preach!!!
-
Is it because DbD is a game you have to buy as opposed to being f2p?
Apex Legends and YuGiOh Master Duel are both f2p games with bundles you can buy from both in game and the PSN store, and both have cross progression for both purchases and progress.

Tbh, I have hit the biggest wall as a killer, ever.
I was Iri1 since starting the game im November and happily played the role as killer main, but if late I get so many sweat squats and groups were it doesn't matter what I do.
So I don't know of my MMR got so high overtime that the lack of other killers is matching me with the tough ones constantly, or if the general lack of killers is the culprit, but it feels the worst it ever got, and I sometimes AFK after a few fruitless chases because I think "why bother? They all got DH and know how too loop perfectly." and I am not sure if I could smurf my way out of this, if I tried.
This game is probably going through its biggest crisis yet and I genuinely hope that something drastic is done soon.
I know, the doom and gloom sayers were always a part of the game, but this time it feels somehow more... substantial. People always say that Steam and PC is only 1/6 of the Player base or something, but still, its a big enough sample to probably be accurate, that's why you don't need to ask everyone in the country about their opinion, but only a couple thousands. Even though we can't see the other platforms numbers, I would be surprised if things were much differently there.
I used to play on PS4 and would say that the problems everyone else has are magnified due to poor performance optimisation and lack of controller options which limits play significantly.
The top tier killers for example are much less effective due to the controller and not being able to pull off Blights techs etc.
-
Performance optimisation is my only want so I can actually play a game that runs alright.
Console performance has been neglected for years yet the game still is happy to take peoples money for new content that often doesn’t work or even makes the rest of the game function even worse such as the Nemesis launch.
Better hardware has been able to brute force through the issues until recently where we start to see the same problems that have plagued console affecting PC hardware that should not be having trouble running a game that looks and is as basic as DbD.
Just upgrade was the excuse given and that just does not fly now with these issues affecting much newer hardware while last gen consoles are running Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring amazingly which not only look much better but also have a much bigger scale than DbD with much more going on and more systems in place.
I could honestly deal with the rest of the complaints if the game actually ran smoothly, and while the 60Fps roadmap always sounded unachievable I would be happy if the game ran stably at 30Fps even with cut corners like lower graphics or animations.
No other changes matter until this is achieved.
If it was then I might start asking again for more controller options on console such as dead zone options and more choice in sensitivity such as dual zone or other response curves to give us more control over the character without sacrificing accuracy for speed or vice versa; lots of other games have these basic options and DbD has been around so long now that it really is a glaring omission made worse by the fact that it is in favour of working on new content continuously and not even on other crucial maintenance or features.
I would love to see content drops reduced to work on things like this and those you mentioned, and would be happy to spend money on cosmetics or something to support the game instead; and more cosmetic drops to fill the gap should not take away from any of that work as people keep reminding us when people complain about cosmetics being released while the game is in such a state as they are separate teams; as in releasing less cosmetics would not help game balance or performance as they have nothing to do with each other.

I thought you’d managed to snag yourself a series X or something last time I checked the thread?
Really appreciate everything you did to bring awareness to the struggle either way! It really seemed like we might have made some progress :(
Can only apologise for my absence but it was really affecting my mental health and had to try and stop thinking about the game for a while :(
With the scarcity of PS5 and the lack of any good exclusive next gen games; I’ve actually been looking at the Steam Deck as an option as it’s cheaper and a really nice bit of tech, but the lack of cross progression would mean I’m stuck to Playstation if I want to stay with DbD. Even GamePass looks amazing and is great value!
I’ve been enjoying playing other things but love this game so much and don’t really want to admit that I will probably never be able to play it properly again, my hope has kind of been destroyed over this long time and playing other things has only cemented the fact that it’s nothing to do with the hardware that’s limiting performance.
Elden Ring is amazing in scale and density of the world, plus it looks and runs amazingly with only a few visible cut corners to make it work such as limiting animation frames of enemies when a lot is on screen or in the distance; it’s actually witchcraft it’s running tbh! :)

It’s hard to even have hope anymore.
I've given up until I actually SEE some big improvements, hopeful words are worthless at this point tbh.
Every patch is like being given a present to open and being told that it is some lovely cake, only there is a 10% chance it will be a punch in the face; after being punched in the face so many times its just not worth it.
I feel like an idiot for holding out hope every time to be let down and I feel like a mug for sinking so much time and money into something that despite words to the contrary, does not seem to value me or my platform enough to invest resources into making any noticeable improvements.
It hurts even more when so much new stuff has come out for everyone else to enjoy while I feel all but forgotten about, like they hope I'll just give up and go away so everyone else can have fun without me and my issues being a killjoy
No amount of words will change it, only visible improvements; and I just don't have faith anything close to that is going to happen anymore, ever.

And I wanted to check if the Event had any effect on the game for you, freezing, hitches etc?
Don't know about the event as still not playing due to the issues from the patches post Nemesis; I doubt the event is going to improve anything and things weren't fine before the event so its a safe assumption it will be the same or probably worse.
-
Was going to record some clips but honestly I'm ready to give up at this point and cut my losses.
There have always been performance issues hence the creation of this thread; but even if we just look at the state of the game since Nemesis, its been in a terrible state and despite this thread and all the clips they say are really helping - there just hasn't been much of any improvement in performance in that insanely long amount of time.
I don't see how the clips are helping when any QA there could boot up a console and see them first hand instantly; its not a case of trying to recreate them, there are no matches that do not suffer in varying degrees of severity. I honestly feel its just a way to garner 'engagement' and seem like something is being done; actions speak louder than words and I just don't see any results of any significance despite all the work put in by the team and us sharing all these clips\feedback.
I was expecting very little but at least some sort of improvement to keep me on the hook longer still, but every patch I get my hopes up only to have them dashed and the game just feel broken in a similar way or have new issues as well.
Sorry for the emotional post but I think I'm just done, even though I really don't want to be. I just can't keep feeling so sad watching everyone else enjoying the cool new content while I'm stuck with the same issues on all the content.
If it says anything I have been playing since PS4 launch when Huntress was free DLC and the latest killer, with only a break during the disastrous year Twins came out. I am actually not playing the game atm and am instead sitting in a queue of 5k-10k players trying to get into FF14, that's what I'd rather be spending my time doing as at least I know I will get in at some point and it will work when I am playing.
I haven't even played against the new killer yet as every game has just been the same old Leatherface, Blight and occasional Nurse. I am sitting on 30k+ Shards so could buy the new content right now but was rather hoping the game would be improved in a noticeable way and I could justify spending my money to buy the whole DLC package and get the extra stuff with that; but theres just no point spending cash or shards etc if the basic game still runs so poorly.
It plays like its a buggy little indie game still despite all the time, success and money :(

I’m waiting to see the opinions of those on this thread before I try it myself; just cannot take the disappointment after spending money anymore lol.
I saw unhooks mentioned briefly in the patch notes so hopefully that helps, though I still worry about all the killer powers that caused freezing ‘hitches’.
Hopefully the verdict is good as I would really have liked to get excited about the new content with everyone else.

I don't care how bad or inaccurate it could be, it still worked better than this. I have played five killer matches today and in only one of them was I adequately matched and that was because it was an instadown killer. An M1 killer would have been screwed. I can't take it anymore. I genuinely see why no one wants to play killer. Can't play for fun or get out of ash rank if I wanted too because every game is just a whole bunch of SWF groups who stomp the ######### ######### out of me before I get a chance to even make a ######### impact on the game. This is by far the least amount of fun I have ever had playing this goddamn game.
It’s certainly a better representation of what happened in the match than kills/escapes.
You would at least have to do more than current MMR where survivors can hide all game never seeing the killer or touching a gen but still raise their MMR, and killers can just tunnel/camp/NoeD and raise theirs; both pretty much without actually playing the game.

My God, every match turned into a real cancer and a nightmare. SBMM with the Boons made the killer practically nothing. Jesus Christ
Why in the mind of Behavior is it fair to put 4 people with an average of 4,000 hours against me in every match? Behaviour thinks killers are gods or something? Holy sheet
SINCE WHEN DID THE SURVIVORS BECOME THE KILLERS OF THIS GAME?

Please stop. It does no good if we end up back on the hook this time at struggle phase or worse. Half the time you also get injured or downed in the process. You're much better off to either find a gen to repair, or to try and lure the killer far enough away so another survivor can unhook.
Thanks.
But the killer shouldn't be camping or tunneling and let us get the unhook without trying to pressure us at all! /s :'P
I agree 100% and have been ready to scream at my screen when its happening :)

It’s not gonna be much different at night because that’s when you’ll be going against SWF squads.
Playing killer around 10pm - 2am EU is absolute misery and either vs streamers\TTVs and their squad or an obvious SWF with matching names.
Occasionally it'll throw you into a match with survivors who only have 10 hours between them and its a stomp before back to misery :')
I stopped playing that late when I'm home from work as it just feels like I'm wasting my time and certainly is more like hard work than a fun game.

Grind's fine, stop prestiging and unlocking all the garbage unlockables if you hate grinding.
The grind is not fine.
I have been playing since the PS4 launch and only stopped for a year from Twins to Nemesis; have well over 1k hours which should be way more than enough to be able to play with the things I've spent money on.
I have the meta build on 1 survivor and stopped spending BP on that role, also haven't unlocked a majority of teachables.
I still don't have the perks I want on all killers, let alone all perks on all killers, and have only prestiged 1 killer Pig once before I realised what a mistake it was.
I also haven't unlocked 1 or 2 teachable from some of the killers whose perks are trash so they don't pollute the bloodwebs of my other killers until I have the perks I want.
They should remove perk tiers, and remove teachables from the bloodweb so they are unlocked from the character screen instead of taking up 1 of the 4 perks each lv50 bloodweb.
Also the entity can be helpful when eating trash I don't want, but its pretty much guaranteed to take the good thing you want; such as always taking lv1 BBQ NoeD Ruin etc instead of lv2 or 3 trash perks like Hangman's Trick and Monstrous Shrine, there's almost certainly a priority list to make it take the better options first and is not based simply on rarity.

I used to give props all the time. But then...like...I stopped because I didn't see that they were really doing anything? Do they have a point and I'm just missing it? I'm still fairly new so I'm sure they play a huge role and I'm missing out.
They are a placebo to make you feel you did something even though it does nothing; the same as rating your match enjoyment or reporting in game without going to the external official website and form.
Props does nothing, and rating your game enjoyment 1 out of 5 is the equivalent of screaming into a pillow :)
BHVR cannot see what actually happens during a match so reporting in game also does nothing; you have to submit evidence via the website form such as uploading a log file (which is stored locally and only for PC) or uploading a video of the thing you are reporting.
Someone could report you in game for cheating a million times and they don't do anything about it in case they are false reports; they need evidence and cannot get any themselves without a player submitting it through the website with all the hassle that comes with that convoluted form.

I'd be reluctant to do the former because BHVR have a tendency to drag their feet when it comes to stuff like the latter. I'd worry that you'd be completely gutting hexplay with the faint hope of hexplay being buffed in the distant future. If these were going to happen, they'd have to happen together. And that doesn't feel likely.
As things stand, some maps can spawn your totem on a hill directly in front of a survivor spawn and next to a gen. These are things that have never been fixed and thus likely won't be. Which is a sad trend (see: Haddonfield House of Pain).
This clip was taken during the Halloween event that just finished, and yet Hexes are not supposed to spawn in survivor line of sight lol :')
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62a6OSY6Cm0If that's not in line of sight according to DbD then I just don't know what to say; the pause btw was me laughing at how ridiculous the situation was :')
To your other reply to my previous comment, that makes sense. I think even just making regular Bond basekit would be a great start as at least it would be easier for solos to find each other, even if it wasn't map wide. They could maybe move Kindred to Dwights teachables instead or something.
The ping system idea like Apex sounds great too, but would of course require a lot more work and change than some of the other ideas we've all thrown about in this thread.
Honestly anything would be a great start; so we can begin to improve the lives of both solo survivors and killers, both of which can be pretty rough at times as things are <3

This would be way more trouble to do than it's worth. I actually cannot think of a single competitive crossplay game that allows you to pick and choose like this.
Apex and I believe CoD don't limit by format but by control type; so only PC players using controller would play against console players, unless you were in a party with a M+K using friend.
PC still has massive advantage with the FPS difference and the sorry state of console performance, but this would be a good middle ground I feel.
They would also still get to use all those mods that make the game brighter etc but don't think theres much you can do about that without seperating PC and console altogether, which as you say isn't ideal as console (I believe) makes up the majority of the playerbase in DbD.

ok so as usual havent really thought about it since i never do it but i played against a bubba hook camped 1 teammate so we did gens 1 gen left other teammate disconnects. so i was like aight i go and die you use unbreakable and you can find hatch... well i got hooked took me 5 missed skillchecks to die? i mean sure i guess its kinda good you cant give hatch or insta suicide but like CMON takes 20 sec to kill myself on hook what a joke...
hatch doesnt spawn until IM DEAD let us suicide it doesn't favour anyone in any way since both can start searching for hatch at the same time...
last thing yes its good that teammates cant insta suicide but it doesnt help since they are gonna afk on the hook if they want to die anyways... and im fine with the new struggle system but alteast make it so it doesnt take 5 missed skillchecks to die
Honestly if you want to quit the game early and make the rest of your teammates suffer then just DC and take the penalty you deserve.
No one like DCers (except DCers) and killing yourself early is the same for all intents and purposes.

They...can't though.
It would require them buffing both solos and SWFs, as they have been emphatic about not having separate mechanics/balances for both.
This would require a massive buff to killers, and then we'd be back at square #1.
The only way to offset SWF is to ensure they face higher MMR killers at a baseline.
I think a great start to buff solo without buffing SWF would be to make a map wide Bond base kit, aura changes colour when they're injured, and see the killer aura within 8m of the hook - then delete or replace Bond Empathy and Kindred, which aren't really used by SWF who already have that information through voice comms most of the time.
I still don't think this would make solo as strong as SWF but once this is done to close the gap between the information the 2 have, they will be able to give killers some much needed love.
Problem is atm that if they buff killers to combat SWF then solo gets screwed, if they nerf killers to make it fairer for solo then SWF dominate. I don't think they can do much balance wise without hurting solo or killer without closing that gap between solo and SWF first.
The MMR idea is a good one, but it only works against teams who play together a lot and punishes higher MMR survivors who team up with lower MMR survivors. I have a lot of friends who barely play this game because of the difficulty they have and as I play quite a lot (performance problems not withstanding) they really suffer if we get a killer who knows how to play around the same level as me.

Take a break, come back when you start feeling pangs or there's a new perk/killer/map you like the look of.
That's one of the best things about gaming as a hobby - there are thousands of other games to play.
I took a break at just before Twins launch because of how bad things had gotten\were getting; then came back when I got caught up in the Nemesis hype... yea that patch was an awful mess too and still not made any progress on fixing the performance issues from that patch, just introduced new ones with the following updates - and added more DLC since which brought more problems with them too :')

Why do you think the BHVR account website go went on maintenance for over a month and come back with Nintendo Switch being listed (before being taken down) if "technical aspects beyond our control, transferring DLC between all platforms has not been possible"... like

Don't know if you've seen this yet; was posted in the official News Forum last week and is not great news I'm afraid:

Yesterday, we announced Dead by Daylight’s inclusion in the Epic Games Store catalogue. While we’re thrilled to provide cross-platform progression between Epic, Steam, and Stadia at launch, we also realize this may raise some questions regarding the arrival of cross-progression for Switch, announced last year.
On any platform our goal is always to deliver the best, most consistent cross-progression experience we can that includes everything our players have purchased to date. Due to technical aspects beyond our control, transferring DLC between all platforms has not been possible, significantly impacting that experience. As a result, while we remain dedicated to doing everything we can to resolve the issue, we can no longer provide a clear ETA on when cross-progression will be available on Switch.
We’ll keep you posted with any new updates as we continue working on the matter. We understand a lot of you are looking forward to this feature (we are too!) and we appreciate your patience!

On how the system doesn't work cause it's total garbage for killers.
The system is so garbage that my 10 hours nurse end up being matched against full squad of 4000 hours surv. Why ? Because i have won my last 8 games against barely average survivors.
But well, honestly, give me one thing that BHVR implemented and was good ?
- servers should have been the best of the world = they are terrible, ping fluctuates all the way everytime
- MMR should give fair trials = everything is unfair
- they promised to fix performance issues 6 months ago = never fixed
- they aim for bringing more balance to the game = they bring boons and MMR
- they brought crossplay to increase the playerbase = they mixed two communities that clearly have a huge huge skill level disparity
- they buffed the nurse and nerfed Pinhead
- update the game with a huge breach allowing IP leaks
All this in 2 years, maybe 3...
DbD has been a game with constant complaints for years now. I have never seen a game with so many complaints. Maybe R6S before the Operation health but still it was not so much on so many subjects...
I have to point out that MMR is comparably bad for solo survivors too; you can litterally do 100 gens in 3 minutes, be chased for half an hour, get hooked and die when everyone leaves to get the escape and raise their MMR. So you do all the work and take all the risk, using your skill to win the game for the team; yet your MMR goes down just for dying and those who did absolutely nothing but escaped get to 'win' and raise their MMR.
This also throws things out of balance for killer even more because you have really good loopers at lower MMRs than people who just hide doing nothing but occasionally holding M1 on a gen.
The best players don't always raise MMR and the worst players often can raise theirs; the opposite of what a SKILL BASED matchmaking system should do.
