Am I allowed to hold the opinion that Lightborn is both a bad perk and an unhealthily designed one? I think the only reason it isn't as obvious is that flashlights aren't very good in the first place, (IMO) and the perk does nothing if flashlights (or firecrackers or one of two specific perks) aren't in play. But when it becomes an option worth using, it completely neuters an entire item full-stop.
Given how survivors are using the items though I think it's still worth having at least as an option

It seems to be a general consensus beetween killer players that CoH is difficult to deal with. But what about its sibling, Shadow Step? Is it hard for you to handle it? Does it encourage a camping strategy?
Not as bad since you can circumvent it by having headphones or something to hear survivors footsteps COH definitely is a major problem

Any perk that is only for information is weak to me, and impossible to be OP. You can't do a single thing with that information if you can't get the survivors.
That's why I'm asking, I mean I know survivor main arguments now are just "let me win ######### you all " nowadays but I still have to ask why on earth is bbq considered op? Cause I agree with you especially since there are other perks that give more info and from what I remember I think there was at least one hex perk that showed auras and put survivors in the exposed state.

If they were facecamped to death, they are entirely justified in complaining. They were literally prevented from playing a game they bought. Honestly, I'm surprised facecamping isn't the major focus for the developers. It's the biggest game design flaw and has been in the game since the inception of the game.
Same with the nerf, same with the balance, same dealing with survivor meta nonsense I agree the game design is broken but it's also because they let both sides (one side more than the other) be as dumb as possible and not play the game how it's was supposed to be played.

There's so many add-ons like this, especially on Twins, that are insulting to killer players because it's like whoever designed them doesn't even know how to play the killer. They focus on the complete wrong aspects of a killer's power. And any time the add-on does give a decent effect, its numbers are so tame, like it was designed with survivor safety in mind.
Well, that and maybe they really are trying to make survivor as brain dead as possible so they got to make it easy for them by screwing over everyone else.

I think survivors can have a hundred second chance perks because they're supposed to have three chances by default. Just because killers like to exploit a weakness in game design doesn't mean these 'second chance' perks are a problem.
Dead Hard, you can maybe argue. But if you're still complaining about DS at this stage, you are the problem.
DS can still be a problem especially when you have people rushing hook just cause you decided to pick up the one holding ds and not someone else first.

Survivors are such hypocrites when it comes to using strong perks or strategies. They'll call BBQ and camping OP and that they have no counters.

Why are people pretending as if MMR suddenly made the 4 meta perk of the apocalypse suddenly appeared out of nowhere? This has existed for years what the hell?
I think it's more instead of being able to have the two sides on equal playing fields mmr matches you up with people who might have the same grade as you or it will match you with higher grades which in terms equals everyone using meta perks.

Some of the comments are just proving your point. A lot of disingenuous people in this community. Whether it is or not it does go to show one thing that it's getting borderline embarrassing that it seems common decency is getting thrown out the window. It shows that while some people might be just bming for fun like most games such as halo and such, there is a good amount that does not seem to understand when enough is enough and to stop.

What about survivors waiting till the last second to leave when they are right next to the gate?

There's no point, really. We will get a new killer with underwhelming perks while the survivor side stays the same or gets buffed. Only a matter of time before Ring girl is getting trolled.
It's not even just perks its the fact that variety is slowly getting snuffed out cause at the moment viable killers are almost all the same playstyle while ones that could have changed it up are getting nerfed to the point where it's not even worth the money you paid to play the killer you were interested in.

I am clearly speaking for myself. Yes I would rather go against 2 meta savants (whatever you want to call them) than stand at my very first hook and stare at the person dead in the face. That is boring.
I don't think people are complaining about Camping because they don't think it is viable (sometimes). I think they are complaining about it because it provides a boring experience. The killer should feel like a threat via their own skill and power, not via cheesing a playstyle.
I understand if you feel the need to do it because you are playing new killers. I don't personally do that. When I bought The Artist, I had no clue how to use her powers, and you know what? I sucked for my first few matches. I used what I know from playing killer in general and then applied it to that. Now I am better with her, and I still don't find the need to camp. Especially at 5 generators still standing.
Fair enough and I only use that to describe IMO people who rely a bit too much on the meta thought maybe that might be a little better than sweaty tryhard but thats just me heh
where I am right now I can do ok with PH, nemesis I can't seem to get behind, deathslinger is gone for me, I've been told I been one of the more better myers due to balancing out his stalk ability, ghost face I haven't tried yet and oni as embarrassing as it is to admit I can do well but certain maps are terrible due to collision with the club and artist I only did one match. It doesn't help also that atm Im still trying to get the learnables to actually start making builds

I would 100% rather go against 4 DS/UB/DH than for me to casually sit there at my first hook.
At that point I might as well uninstall and find another game if I was forced to do that. I like the challenge this game provides, and there are certainly builds that you see more often than not. So I am not taking that away, but sure is boring holding M1 the whole match.
I actually ended up dying in one of the matches, because I sacrificed myself instead of the person who was so patient just not even attempting to let go. That felt more exciting than doing gens.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2699798#Comment_2699798
My main point was to underline how it was done on first hook.
They were doing this at 5 gens still standing. No one had came in with the intention of rushing generators. Seeing as I saw a couple of them opening chests, cleansing totems.
Like, I understand the need to do it when certain elements get brought into the match (like strong perks being used or bad map RNG) but to me it just feels like they didn't even try.
Oh really you would 100% go against 4 meta savants who might I add makes up alot of the mmr problems and go through the game without ever thinking about camping them? IMO the meta for survivors has made camping more of a viable option than dealing with the broken nonsense that this game offers and yes while I can admit getting camped sucks why not have that be a reason to try and be more stealthy and not get caught rather than to put it bluntly having to use meta training wheels.
That part is just how I think but the main point I was saying is that unfortunately, atm survivor behavior encourages camping both causes of how much they complain about it showing it is viable and how much some survivors egg them on to the point they deserve it. While tunneling and slugging can be excused especially for people zurg rushing the hook as soon as you turn around I can get why camping is a pain to deal with but I can't agree on meta perks being the answer to it.
And Before you say it cause I know it will happen yes I camp too at times but I am trying to do it only at the end or when its needed but, its hard not to just cause I am still learning some killers and trying to find one that can be fun, viable and offers a fair game.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
First 3 matches of the day (Spirit, Huntress, Spirit) all 3 of them camped on first hook. No one takes the bait. All gens get done, No Ed is their backup plan.
It is unfortunate because it makes the gameplay dull and boring. The worst part was they all had ONE thing in common...They were all really bad when it came to down to chases and actually using their power.
I have absolutely 0 sympathy for these type of killers. One, because I too play killer and while I do use those playstyles, it mostly happens organically, not because I refuse to chase anyone or it didn't make sense to do so.
So you know what I say? Keep gen-rushing survivors and don't feel bad about what you're doing because they won't feel bad for you when you are being slugged on the floor for 4 minutes on the ground or being camped 30 seconds into the match. Sorry not sorry.
Unfortunately it's the same for killers as well since it gets rather dull and borning having to go against the same toolkit of perks over and over so why bother trying if that's what you keep going against.

Comparing being teabagged in a video game to racism is a bit of a stretch.
Instead of making this about race you could just acknowledge that it’s a video game and they are random people spamming a crouch animation. They don’t know who you are or what you look like, it’s not personal, and the only power it has over you is the power you grant it.
Pretty much every multiplayer game has this kind of thing, and it’s not healthy to let it affect you like that.
In most cases that would be true here's the problem with this game the same people who bm like no tomorrow are 9/10 times the same people who will account message you to go ######### or drink bleach because something didn't go their way.

Before they do anything new with killer moris they should first allow survivors to kill the killer as well. The fact this isn't already a thing in the game is a bit ridiculous. If the killer can win the match by killing all of us then we should be able to escape for killing the killer. Its also usually how horror stories end anyway where the survivors end up killing the bad guy except if it was a thing in DBD then conditions would need to be met of course before this could happen. I've always been of the opinion that moris are just a toxic thing killers can use to further troll and harass survivors and would prefer they weren't in the game to begin with. I know why it makes sense they are there but to me it just seems like a very bully thing to do. Since they are in the game, make it fair for both sides. Allow survivors to kill the killer. That would make the game a lot more interesting for me.
Nice Idea for mori's but the second part I can't agree since giving the state the game is now it will be undoubtedly be abused by red mist survivors

Regarding the pvp, maybe, however, in my opinion, design-wise it's worse than the other Soulsborne.
Of course a big part of it has to do with the troubled development it went through:
That said, the level design feels inferior to DS1's interconnected world, the lore is also pretty messy, with contradictions with the first game (for example the Dragons possessing souls or Giants being different race from DS1's Giants and so on).
The massive amount of bosses also doesn't help the cause, since most of them are forgettable and barely interesting (I'm talking to you Prowling Magus and Congregation) and they used a quantity over quality amount of enemies to create a sense of difficulty that DS1 had with smart enemy placement.
Also can't be the best when Bloodborne exists.
Gank squad the game god damn those bosses sucked and clearly shows how much better the bosses got in the series with some exceptions

The MMR doesn't reset with Grade reset as it's a completely separate system...however, whether you win or lose matches, it will eventually adjust itself until the matches are around your skill level.
But now people are deliberately trying to lower their mmr to the point where people are going afk just to lower it doesn't that mess up the adjustments to the skill level in an improper way?
-
I hate to sound like a broken record on this subject but while it is nice to see more characters coming It would be so much better if the devs would just release an update to balance certain perks , get the cheater problem fixed , fixing mmr or just scrap it and use a ranking system to have more balanced matches and adding some slice of life stuff to make the shlog of grinding and other issues be addressed rather than making more dlc packs that muddy the already murky waters more

They don't have a good track record of reverting such major renovations, look at Billy and such. That said, what changes would ya suggest that still address why survs hated versing him so much, in all ranks/grades?
Let him keep the aiming speed since that is why people liked playing him or at least develop a perk for increased aiming speed cause right now he's a slow killer with a slow power now the only other thing I can think of maybe make the chain break a little sooner but for the most part, the main problem I hear is that people didn't like the trick aims and such basically, however, I don't think that's should be blamed on the killer rather the player knowing how to both aim and position the spear. It's the same with huntress while it would have been nice to have something to direct where her hatchets go and maybe even have an option to toggle it on and off when you get good at aiming. It all boils down to does the player knows how to aim properly yes or no.

With how often killers camp and tunnel it's perfect the way it is, until they find a way to properly punish those two things BT does it's job well, especially when they have a Mori and get obsessed with a player they hooked and won't chase anybody else. Don't know if it's just my luck but happens pretty often in my matches.
But what if a survivor is bming though and wants the killer's attention it's their own fault for acting like a scapegoat then. And yes while its fair to punish camping why not make a reduced amount of bp as well as their mmr being decreased and if only one survivor was killed because of camping they get a 5000 bp sacrificial bonus and for tunneling it is situational. For instance, if you have more than one survivor next to each other and one is healthy and one is injured wouldn't the smarter option be going after the injured one even if it can be counted as tunneling?
Also I don't know if anyone has thought about this or just doesn't want to say it cause it can be considered a one side good one side bad idealogy but IMO having BT DH DS UB and COT doesn't detract from tunneling and camping but instead encourages it cause it is showing to be a viable (if not dirty) tactic.
(NVM I do see some people talking about the irony)

BT, DS, DH, Prove and other broken perks they could be nerfed simply by limiting their use to a maximum of one per team 🤷♂️
Nerfed yes but the only one that should actually be limited is any boons due to the range they have specifically COH or atleast since all killers seems to stomp on the totem they should be destroyed like hex totems do
-
Honestly I might be wrong with how I would suggest nerfs but what about this
BT: reduce the time to 5 seconds and is deactivated if 2 survivors are within 15 ft of hook (only problem I'm thinking is for gen hooks)
DS: single strike after two hook stages or one if a mori is used and the time is only 10 seconds.
DH: remove the I frames but gain no collision for the length of DH

You haven't read what alot of us are saying, BT and DH are not real issue when used as intended but when used as a offensive perk is annoying. Because that will just get you tunneld off hook more from what I have seen.
X player gets BT from thier rescuer. X player decides to body block and then run away. Killer decides to chase the one who decided to be cheeky and run interference to down them again. Then X player and other complain saying the killer tunneled when it's the X players own fault for drawing attention towards them in the first place.
I for one dont have a issue with either, except for the hit validation bug that no one seems to want to care about.....but I dont go for the one unhooked but the the one doing the unhooking.
What about times where you turn around and you got two or all three basically zurg rushing the hook without much to go against it?

Not been salty this is a common problem. Sure bt and ds are just fine when use ad intended but when survivors start to use them offensively is when it's a problem.
BT DS and DH really need nerfs their abilities are being abused bt with being used as a shield rather than a tool to stop camping and tunneling, ds for some situational reasons and DH mainly just for abusing the I frames it has and to be honest it gets both frustrating at times and rather boring facing the same perks over and over again just cause they can be abused

New accounts are $3 on third-party sites, and easy ways to avoid them being able to tell if an account is correlated to your old banned one are prevalent. This game has tens of thousands of players constantly, it would take at least a dozen hours for support to get through all the recordings to yours. There needs to be a short-term solution so that people don't get a ridiculous penalty.
Maybe this is entitled to say but maybe remove the penalty for killer entirely? Survivors can power through gens and get out within 5 minutes, Killers have to sit through games being held hostage and/or BM until EGC is over.
i'd say if EGC last more than 15 seconds theres no penalty
-
@foxsansbox said:
No. Removing the DC rule would be abused beyond reason. I already have survivors intentionally DC'ing to repeatedly deny my Myer's 4 Kill Tombstone achivement.
I get where you're coming from, but removing the DC penalty invalidates large portions of this game.
Edit: There is still leverage if the penalty no longer exists. That current game is ruined.
I can see it working on one reason and one alone and that is holding the match hostage especially during end game since for some reason someone has to think it's funny to stay until the last second and waste time just so they can try and get the last laugh and try to bm when no one is there.
