They really need to reevaluate killer they used to be threatening like 3 years ago or maybe allow 2 killers in a teamup. Granted they can be threatening as long as they are either stealth or mobile but thats really only a select few sometimes its both. This game will definately die if they dont figure out how to bring back a bit of the terror this game originally had.

At this moment in time I don't think they will cause it seems like they are more focused on selling people ######### than actually balancing this game.

  • @Marigoria said:

I dont think anyone should "leave" aka dc just because they're losing.

Well it's either that or go afk when it comes to bad matchups

  • I just don't why are people defending being POS in this game.

Welcome to the Fog! It's always nice to see new faces. The game can, and will be very toxic sometimes. If you can't deal with it, this might not be the game for you. I'm not trying to be mean but that's how DbD is sometimes. There are really nice people out there but they're a very rare species

This shows that the community need to change... like now. The fact that this is the mentality that the game shows is part of the reason it's player base is lacking.

I agree with everything you said except how you're saying it's just survivors, let's not pretend killers don't give survivors ######### for the perks they run or the map they play, ANYONE should be able to run whatever they want without getting trashed on just for having fun, I don't care if I'm playing end game nurse behind the gates with blood warden, insidious, Noed and kill everyone while nodding at the end, it shouldn't matter how I play or what I play because it's just a game and as long as you're having fun that's all that counts

For this, it's shown more by survivors trying to stroke their egos while not realizing or just being flat out ignorant that this game is more survivor-sided than killer-sided. While the things you mentioned for killer perks are true tell me this how many times have you had a killer act like hot ######### while using/being carried by noed and such compared to survivors acting like hot ######### while using/ being carried by the meta perks. Honestly, IMO if there is any game modes that should be added there should be a no perk version of the game so there are no crutches, no gimmicks and no broken saves/bullshit.

Most PvP games don't have anything in place for in game BM, I could get you in Halo infinite and have my entire team tbagging and hitting your dead body and it's not reportable at all, most games don't have such a soft player base that cries about anything and everything, the only true toxic thing in any game is the chat because people say some very ######### things or threaten you for literally nothing, in fact they need to get it over with and just give both survivors and killers a middle finger emote, I know I'd pay for it if it ever came to be in the game.

I'm not talking about bming I mean the other ######### where BHVR failed to do something about so now people have to turn off chat and private their accounts just to not get spam from people whining about ######### and that is something that shouldn't be ignored but it is, there should be a system for that but there's not and nowadays so many people say just ignore it when that shouldn't be a thing.

Also I have played other game with pvp and I never had people account message me for bullshit unlike this game so as much as you want to compare this to games with more players such as halo and cod the facts are that this game has less players but more toxic bullshit and unlike those games where its one team against another this one can have the potential of a more singular target mentality.

  • @Marigoria said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2720833#Comment_2720833

Do you know how to change it? No. You don't have the power to change other people, just yourself.

Well, first of all, make an actual system that punishes the behavior like most PVP games second no I don't, not the game or the people but ignoring it makes it worse cause it grows and grows. Why do you think that some people who see streamers play dbd and act in the most inappropriate way are allowed to continue to be that way unless a third party intervenes? Not BHVR, not the game but something outside of both has to do it which is a bad way of running things

Toxicity in games will never end. People online feel free to be asshats, and that's just how things are. Do I like it? No.

I just found that it's better to ignore it. I have turned all my messages off to just friends, and rarely look at post game chat. It improved my time playing immensely.

"It's the way it is so don't change it." is that what I am understanding?

If you cannot hook anyone for whatever reason you can still earn points chasing them, hitting them, using your power on them, breaking pallets while you chase.

If your mind breaks every time you "lose", this game is not for you. It is just going to disappoint you over and over again. Change what it means to win in your mind. Aim for at least brutal killer results.

Right because playing the game as bubba since most other killers I have don't have bbq atm doesn't mean it's unbalanced as ######### and seeing that people would rather act like toddlers and try to get their ego raised rather than just going " hey we won and the killer's not chasing us lets leave" isn't an issue with the game no it's the killer's fault.

Also yes you can get points for other stuff but none of that matters if it goes so quick you don't get much in those categories and I don't care about losing in other games but this games cycle of bullshit makes it much much worse between the rng with the blood web, survivor behaviors and such does make it a problem.

Also even getting brutal killer status does not mean much since the average I get is 15k when I get that. However, right now it seems even that isn't much due to add-on and perk prices.

  • @ColonGlock said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2720767#Comment_2720767

If you don't try you will never know the triumph of getting your tormentors on the hook and pulling off an unexpected victory.

There will be good and bad games but you get to earn BP regardless. This leads to more perks and more addon and hopefully more experience. Learn to hide your red light, how to properly use your power, how to run tiles, and use perks that support each other for maximum effect. Always use BBQ and keep track of who you have hooked using the hud.

This game has been out a long time. Many people you face will have thousands of hours. Try to learn from the experiences and read up on things in the DBD wiki so you have game knowledge.

Good sediment however you are missing some major issues

1.I never said I don't try and like I said this is for games you can't win and are at the last big of egc I know stuff can happen until then which is fine but not at this point

2 . Having bbq is a good idea to help with points however there are two problems with it first it requires hooks some games you can't get anyone and second the game's rng makes it hard to even get it due to the clutter

3 you can learn and learn and learn however, much like tf2 you can be a master of the game and still be screwed by rng, nerfs, and unbalanced setups which this game is known for

Like I said it's all good when everything is balanced and works but for now not so much.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/302223/taking-the-dc-penalty-over-waiting-the-timer-out

If the survivors survive my onslaught I open the gates for them. I still try to kill them but I want to start the timer for the match to end. If you don't want to push them out the gate you can do things like break pallets and walls or use your power to get additional points.

Blood points are hard-earned. It is a mind game. A game designed to frustrate. If you are going to stay you must push through the pain until the devs change how the end game works again.

True however there are games you get little to nothing due to how quick the game can be so Idk if those can be considered Hard-earned

  • @Munqaxus said:

Here is a fix for facecamping that has proven to work and it has already been tested and vetted by an enormous amount of player testing. Plus it doesn't punish the killer. In fact, you have the code to implement it in the game.

Use the same code you use for Pyramid Head's cages and apply it to hooks. When a survivor is hooked, he is teleported to a hook that is temporarily generated, just like a Pyramid Head cage. Then when they are unhooked, the generated hook disappears.

We know it works already. The developers already has the code. It has been heavily tested and works. It ticks every single box for a facecamping fix.

This isn't going to work not because it sucks but it's because the game is so rng and bug heavy you can almost guarantee something will go wrong this happened.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2720737#Comment_2720737

It absolutely can, and my best advice when it does is to play something else. There's nothing that can be implemented to stop jackass players from being jackasses, the best you can do is try and keep their jackassery from ruining your day.

Trust me I know usually I just look up stuff on my phone or laptop or do like you said go and break pallets and walls. Honestly, I also know the toxic player base can't be stopped especially since the game is becoming more and more known for it but still it would be nice if that rating system they had at the end of the game wasn't basically a Facade.

  • @TAG said:

Isn't the minimum DC penalty time longer than the time it takes to fully bleed out (5 minutes vs. 4 minutes)?

it starts with 3 minutes then increases with each dc for a span of I think 24 hours,

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2720726#Comment_2720726

Then I let the other side have the victory they earned. If I was playing football and by the 4th quarter my team knew we were trounced, I would still take the field.

As to your specific example, when I get survivor players like that, I ignore them and go through the map looking for pallets to break and other things I can do to get a bit more BP, or I go to the shack, set the controller down and get a tasty treat.

Like I said I do that however having it happen over and over and over when you much rather be going to the next game can wear on people after a while. Oh and thank god console doesn't have end-game chat cause that would just make it worse.

  • @burt0r said:

Well people DC over getting put on their death hook, trowing everything they earned during a trial away, loosing pips/MMR and still get the increasing time out.

    That's even less time.

I know it happens hell I had someone dc on the first hit so I know it happens but like I said this is more the ending than the beginning.

  • @AsherFrost said:

Playing survivor I've had games that seemed absolutely hopeless at the beginning turn into 4Es. As killer I've seen survivors pop 4 gens by my first hook just to find they 3 genned themselves without any help, and gave me the tools to get a victory.

On either side I tend to feel it unfair to the remaining players to just quit.

Like I said this is more you have no chance of winning. Such as for some reason all except one or two games when I have a bad match as killer there is always at least one survivor who stands there fully healed and next to the gate but wants to berate even more by wanting to bm at the gate so for most people they will just wait out the timer to get some points, however, there are times and I will admit this is when I dc is when they wait for the last second and I decided to say " screw it, the points are low the time is almost gone and they won't leave" so I take the dc. It sucks but it happens that's why I'm basically asking how often does it happen.

  • @Hippie said:

The fact that this question is being asked scares me, plus the fact that people will probably have an actual answer for it...

"Yeah man, they were already taking out our nexus turrets so I just couldn't wait that extra thirty seconds for the game to end"

I've never seen a game where so many people feel free to use the disconnect button rather than playing and finishing the game that they agreed to participate in.

I don't like it either it was more morbid curiosity was the reason I am even asking about it. I wish it didn't happen but the fact that people can actually find reasons to just shows how this game works.

  • @Pulsar said:

No one has a 'right' to treat anyone like dirt. It's amazing how many people can't comprehend this in 2021.

Instead it's 'You deserve what you get' and, in other games 'Banning me for being racist is facist! FREEDOM OF SPEECH!' (Yes, I saw this on the New World forums). And 'It's YOUR fault of my offensive words offend you!' (Also New World).

Apparently, with the internet, came the advent of 'I'm not responsible for my actions'.

Well in this game's case IMO it's the mentality of "everyone does it why not me"

  • @dallasmedicbag said:

Why is there a perk that hard counters a 6k BP offering on the killer side? Getting hit by Franklin's and having a time limit to come back to pick your item up is annoying enough, but this minute perk counters an offering? Where is the logic in that?

Survivors can't do the same to killers, killers will have their addons in use for the entire match and won't be affected by anything the survivors bring.

Also can anyone explain why in the world survivors lose their addons despite escaping the trial? Don't say it's to make it "fair" for the killers because killers no matter how bad they play, they will always end up getting more BPs than the best survivor with 4 bbq stacks, which justifies the loss of their addons.

This game has catered so much to the killers that to see them complaining in the forums is laughable heh.

First of all my ass that the game caters to killers if it did it wouldn't have only 3 killers be viable. Second, of course, killers will get more in a 1 vs 4 game that's just how it is when you have 4 people to gain points from. Third and this one if someone wants to correct me please do but can't you pick it up and leave and the white ward effect happens? Granted the killer will try to prevent that cause that's the smart thing to do. Lastly, items that survivors use have the thing called "Charges" and outlives its usefulness when the charge is gone and if you are complaining about franklins I guess then overwhelming presence is a problem too.

  • @Taingaran said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2719498#Comment_2719498

The developers themselves cannot say what is a victory or a defeat. There are no clear signs. This is the problem.

Probably cause they know it will lead to more issues since some people will call a 3k a loss since they escaped.

Camping is griefing. That's why DBD is the only game where camping in any form is actively promoted by it's parent company(outside of like ACTUAL camping, with a fire and hotdogs or smores). Somehow people equate camping to "tbagging and flashlight clicking", but I don't see how either of those prevent the killer from playing the game. They're not even close to related. If anything both of those actions help the killer as you're not gaining distance while doing it.

They are both dumb ######### the other team doesn't like so if one gets punished why not the other both are a problem and it doesn't matter cause both issues can easily stall the game.

  • @Kasamsky said:

It's not the DbD community. It's just how the humans are these days. Especially the younger generation.

No it is the community cause generational generalization doesn't mean anything especially when you see grown-ass people act like babies more than actual babies on stream because things don't go their way.

The problem I think is that especially with how one dev answered a question of why people want to keep playing this game can be interpreted as a game that is being fueled by hatred, not balanced gameplay, not meaningful updates but pure unadulterated hatred especially with the ideas that have been implemented recently that helped make it even worse along with a laughable chat filter, no real way to block it on console and the report system which I can almost guarantee it has to be filtered between actual problems and pissy people mad at the game along with the neglect of the more toxic behavior (ignoring meaningful Critisizem, rampant hacking/DDoS issues, scoffing off complaints, and continuous problems with people sending death threats/hate speech/ racism...etc)

  • @DrBrain said:

So as a Killer Rank 1 main on console who uses Cross-Play for hardcore 4 man sweaty pc players I will add my tips here too

    A. play for points, not for wins

    1. what do I mean by this? Well, this game is based around BP. Having a 1K or 2K game is fine just play for the points. Slug, dont hook camp unless it makes sense too. Chase for no more than 40 seconds. Run perks that help you gain more points or get more hits/abilities used. Do not expect to 4k every game. Its not realistic and you will be frustrated if you attempt this. Youll start getting 4k more often when you change the mindset of the game itself.

    B. Build for your style of gameplay and killer weaknesses versus. A “Build Guide” or general S tier Perks.

    1. Running 4 perks that are S tier is not a viable option. Run perks that make sense for what you are attempting to accomplish. Are you wanting a end game build? Grab NOED, Deaths Gate, Butter Murmur for fun endgame. Want a anti-loop build? Grab perks that focus in window/pallet block or enduring to reduce time for stun etc. you get the point.

    C. Play killers that fit your style.

Personally I enjoy actively hunting and slugging at a heavy pace. Its my style. So I focus on maining killers that do this. Oni, Nemesis, Wraith, Nurse, Huntress, and Blight. These are my mains and I am at my best when using them. Find what suits your taste. Maybe you are a planner style of killer? Trapper, Hag, Freddy etc. maybe you prefer denying survivors things as a playstyle? Pyramidhead, pinhead, Artist, etc. maybe you prefer killers that down players often? Billy, cannibal, oni, etc.

play what suits your comfortablity. Lots of killer mains coming into it believe they have to play “S tier” Killers and thats how its done. Nonesense. If the killer doesnt feel like a glove. Dont force it. Play what comes naturally.

    D. Expect to get bullied as a Killer

    1. You will have more bad games than good games for awhile and the better you get the worst itll get for you. BHVR devs refuse to balance or fix the MMR or the 4 man swuads or the maps or the tiles so these are factors you will need to come to terms with. That being said, I suggest to heavily turn OFF cross-play and itll make you less likely to run into troll squads or 4 man sweat squads. You will enjoy your games more often and you will be able to take more time honing your chase/loop skills in the process. Its like riding a bicycle thats really really broken. Itll take some time to get use too but dont expect Dad(The devs) to fix it anytime soon so deal with what you got and ride the piss outta it.

tldr: play what fits you and play for points. Dont play to win or sweaty 4 man squads will piss you off and make you quit immediately(this is happen even if you practice these methods but you can deal with it with these tips)

So don't play the game to actually win i guess? Why is it that when any other pvp game ######### up on their balancing they are rightfully called out on it but for this game that has some terrible balancing along with cheating problems it's somehow being justified?

Also I love the last segment "Expect to get bullied as a Killer" well gee no wonder no one wants to play killer cause it's expected now to be riddled with toddler brigades and 4 person scunt teams unless you like being the whipping boy for users of easy mode but hey I guess that's what the dev team wants now instead of a balanced game.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2719346#Comment_2719346

Who is asking the killer to play "easier"? Nobody is asking for free escapes or to not play the game. Leaving a hook and going for somebody else, stopping them from doing gens, etc. isnt going "easier". Its playing the game.

I'm just grateful BHVR have said they'd address this as its one of the most boring things in this game.

You really believe them when they can't even deal with their hacker and ddos problem now?

  • @Animal_Mother said:

If devs eliminate camping, which is almost required to some degree for success at the highest levels, then I hope there will be a compensatory

Trade off remove camping for making tbagging lose a health state and flashlight spamming destroy the item.

  • Never said some don't I just know survivors will

  • Camping is not going away and if somehow it does there better be a compromise since survivors will abuse it

  • @Marc_123 said:

So, survs can stop whining. They will get something.

But i guess survs will only be happy when they can make their gens, killer comes sometimes but can´t catch or hit them, can´t hook them, and they always escape...

Or you know make survivor easy mode which at this point and time they succeeded quite well why not just have a button to have the killer hold their hand to the exit game since balance is out the window now.

IMO training courses should be similar to how they are now. A match against bots without any perks. I think it's better to learn how to use the basekit power of each killer first and not to rely on add-ons or perks from the start.

Thats why I brought up training idk what they could do maybe something like for honor where they have specific courses for each killer to learn their kit. Right now the core of the game is all about the add-ons and perks due to the balance being garbage.

  • @gammatsunami said:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/YTXAS9EB3CA3/untitled.png

    Even survivors arent arguing anymore.

I do my daily now, and thats it. They were popping gens and healing so fast I couldnt do anything. Boons are broken + MMR is bad.

They just seem like really bad designers. Theyre running out of ideas, so they make one of the most powerful items a infinite AOE spell. How about instead of adding new perks over and over, increasing the grind you add new modes. Experiment with 2 killers vs 8 or more survivors ect.

I could put up with BS before because it was still a fun game, I do my daily out of habit now and thats it. Even that habits waning. I dont even mind playing sweaty, its just not fun anymore.

Honestly for game modes even something as simple as a killer training mode to learn the killers powers and use it to practice perk builds would help alot as well and just to be honest about some modes like8vs2 with this build of the game would be a nightmare just cause it could still be one sided due to meta I would like to be wrong but I figured I'd give my 2 cents on game mode ideas.

why would there be a built in hard counter to a specific strategy?

I'd be more asking if those perks are for tunneling and camping why are survivors now deploying strategies that encourage it more?

BT, DS and COH now made those two survivor complaints even more viable nowadays.

Because it’s a computer game that people are trying to play to have fun. The survivors being altruistic clearly know this and want some engagement in the concept of the game. A lot of killers clearly don’t understand this concept and take the game way too seriously and focus literally on kills and nothing else. It’s the reason this forum is full of so many whining killers because when they actually come up against good survivors they aren’t good enough to deal with them

Fun for the survivor isn't the killers job its on the devs for bad design and trying to patchwork it with perks. Also, it's pretty ironic to say killers are whinning about playing the game how it's supposed to be when you are trying to tell me that it's their job to make it fun for survivor.

Honestly since I keep people constantly defend that a pvp game shouldn't be a pvp game is pathetic because actual problems such as balancing and the numerous bugs are getting neglected just to make the game "fun" which is subjective as ######### especially since whenever it is brought up it's the survivors fun that matters not the single one becoming a goddamn whipping boy due to the shifty balance.

Also I know someone is going to say it but "fun" should be the result of good balance, a community that doesn't feel like an embarrassment and a reason to play other than it being the only option it its genre.

  • @Munqaxus said:

I've seen some teams play correctly and I feel like I'm pretty consistently getting around a 3k average on teams that play correctly. Deadlock/Ruin and NOED even things out a lot.

The teams that are the worse, so far, are flashlight teams. I've had the worse luck against them. I've had some teams doing double-flashlight saves and you can't really counter that as Killers. Hats off for that type of coordination, they deserve the save, coordinating those.

Your point being? I know perks can help and some team make ups can make a difference depending on the set up. I'm just pointing out that if you know the team is altruistic as ######### why sweat the other stuff and make them work around you instead of it being the other way around.

You do realize that the body blocking with BT isnt about the Killer being fast enough.....the survivor that gets unhooked runs right for the killer forcing the body block. Same with DS there has been times that the one that just unhooked with DS runs the body block path again. Those survivors use Anti Tunnel and Anti Camp perks as all purpose defense perks.

Honestly that should be a reason to have them be negated. The point of the perks is to prevent camping and tunneling but they use it in ways that it encourages it instead

  • @JacksonWise said:

If you don't enjoy killer atm, then don't play. If all the players who complain about playing killer stopped playing, survivor queues would go up drastically and devs will have to do something about it. That simple.

At this moment I doubt that they'll just try to replace people with new ones given the recent content

  • @Impartiality said:

That’s because half the killers in this forum get carried by camping and are hoping it doesn’t ever get actually punished. Instead they just blame the survivors rather than bad game design

Well for games I played and seen survivors are extremely altruistic so when you keep having those guys why would you not camp cause you know the others try to save them which leads to kills

  • The thing is yes it is dying but very slowly cause instead of making meaningful changes to make the game balanced and fun for both sides they are doing the same thing that they do with the problems of their game they are replacing old with new, trying to band aid the problem and hope for the best and given how one sided it is now and there are other options coming it is probably going to start decreasing more that normal

I think scott makes videos based off forum posts. basically he looks at your post and than makes a video about it, just like he made a video on lightborn.......

I think your post title does not match what your post is talking about. The title makes you think that the post is about BVHR having no creative process for killers while your post is talking about killer's being unfun to play with list of reasons.

I would say that the survivors desire for challenge in current dbd is at an all time low and survivors currently control for how challenging the killers are to win. As such, all the killers are either watered down on release and the ones from past releases are being watered down slowly. Their killer ideas are not awful from gameplay stand-point but they're watered down too much for killers to notice their actions with their ability to have any impact on outcome of the match.

My advice is to wait for mid-chapter updates in 2022 and see if the game for killer is more fun for you by the end of the year. If it is not, you can take Matt's advice to play civ 5.

So keep trying to have fun as killer until the end of 2022 when they have had years of trying to make it balanced?

The nerf to cenobites engineer fang is an absolute disgrace. Those chains are not easy to hit all the time, survivors know how to dodge them and they are hard to control. I think that add on should basically be base kit on him. As well as pinky finger on clown and Pyramid Heads range add ons. The pinky finger add on will be the next thing to get nerfed, on Clown who's maybe the worst killer in the game.

As it is right now it seems that for as much as the devs want to say they aren't biased for the most part they are or just don't care about it being balanced. I swear the more I read on the patch notes the more I'm thinking we are just going to get m1 killers and just make the only unique thing about each side being their perks and add-ons instead of the base kit.

I might be exaggerating a little but given how it's been going can you blame me?

I'm absolutley sick and tired of people asking "what killer do you play?"

It shouldn't matter, every killer should be able to compete. If I play Ghostface or Clown I should be able to go into a game feeling I can win just the same as playing Nurse or Blight. The devs need to buff damn near 80% of the killers but they literally don't have the baalls to do so because they have to play everything super safe with the killer side.

Hex Blood Favor was trash before they buffed it and there reasoning was "we launched the perk safe to make sure it wouldn't get out of control." Yeah but Boons get launched and can be relit 100 times, nice. Lmao

Exactly and to be honest that's part of the reason I'm worried about dlc and killer mains going forwards cause its either going to turn into viability being only 10% and dlc being only worth $1 cause of the constant nerfs to almost all killers at this point

  • Guessing the devs see it as an event

  • Honestly given how the game's direction is going I'd say shelve it and never return to it and go try VHS or one of the others when they release cause IMO ATM it's just going to get worse from here.

I'm sure it's difficult for you to understand when Nerfed Gunslinger is basically you console players on Pre nerf Deathslingers lmao.

Who gives a ######### if it's console or pc if a character sucks the character sucks doesn't matter what they use.

Razblaze is too funny in this thread, complaining that the guy he's arguing with doesn't care about the survivors fun. You're a regular ScottJund "killer main"

I've never once heard a survivor main express concern about the killer's fun in this game nor have I ever had a survivor try to make the game more fun for me but the killer is expected to cater to the survivor's fun.

Oh, it's not that I don't care about the survivor's fun it's just that when and where other than the survivor's double standard "Honor code" does it say that it's the killer's job to make the game fun for survivors.

"Just don't play our game" is absurdly cocky and a terrible idea when VHS is on the horizon. "Go to our competitor!"

There is no way to "get better" enough that you can be on par with 4 man SWF with comms. It is functionally not possible with how the game is currently designed and balanced unless you're Nurse. People who pretend this stuff is about skill are basically stating they think this game is balanced, which is laughable. If it was balanced, people wouldn't use "party game" all the time to describe it.

Other than recently for people defending this ######### who on earth considered this a "party game"?
