But the old issues are way worse than the current issues. Yeah, there are balance issues, but they’re not nearly as severe now as they were four years ago. The overall trend of the game year over year is it gets slowly better over time.
Yes you are true on one thing it was going up and up however the it's now regressing back down especially with the last few updates making it clear there's some bias towards one side more than the other and also showing that no matter the license or what original characters there's a good change that they will not be worth the effort anymore.
That and the lack of optimization for consoles.

If you think the game was in a better state in 2017 than it is now you're wearing some really rose tinted glasses. There was SO much broken stuff when this game came out compared to now. Many more infinite loops, no endgame collapse so games could stall out more often, matchmaking was even worse than it is now because it was the pre-emblem system. The graphics were way worse when the game released, there were far fewer killers and maps available. The game is objectively better now than it was in 2017, no question.
I never said I liked it in 2017. My main point is that look at that and look at it now and it's basically the same just instead of the old issues they have been replaced by new issues.
Also the fact that this game is in the current state shows that at this moment there's no reason to believe it will get better.

Keep in mind, Dead by Daylight came out in 2017, the fact that it's even still around and has more players now then it did this time last year and the year before that is a sign of a solid game. Just going through other Steam games that came out in 2017, for instance, the closest I could find in terms of concurrent players this month is Total War Warhammer II which is currently running about half the number that Dead by Daylight has.
https://steamcharts.com/cmp/381210%2C594570%2C367520%2C433340#All
Basically being a 5-6 year old game at this point you'd normally expect it to have fallen off much more than it has, so the game still having twice the player base it had in January 2021 is pretty solid.
Also it's fairly likely that, like most big chapters, there'll be a surge when Ringu comes out in March. So reports of DbD's demise are premature.
Yeah back in 2017 we didn't have the broken meta, killers that don't have the punch that they should and this false idea of balance.
Nowadays you have to remember its been 5+ years and look at what it is now the same game mode with a stale formula that desperately needs fixing and basically a mindset where what the devs do is almost always correct and anyone that has problems should be ignored.
Also for the ring dlc to be honest I don't see it being a reason for more people to start playing this.

And to the point of being worth it? It really depends and I can't make a call since I haven't bought anything for money since pig. (No Nemesis and cenobite)
Shards take way too long to unlock each.

Nah you're probably right. The community has gotten far more divided in the last year or 2 with the us vs them mentality between killer and survivor when both sides should want the other side to be just as fun to keep the whole playerbase healthy.
Devs should as well cause recently it seems they want to fuel the fire rather than put it out.
The most recent updates have shown this mentality more and more,

Ding! Ding! Ding!
This guy gets it. I am just trying to bring it up as a discussion. Hence why it was even in the form of a question, but apparently some people don't take those lightly.
I am with you, I think for me while I appreciate the sentiment from the dev's angle and (again) sympathize with the players who deal with this crap. I feel like those doing the bullying will continue to do so unless the devs actually do something more substancial about it.
There is no better time to address it than now.
Oh ok sure cause comparing the two and not wanting it removed make is so much different.
You are still trying to compare the two which has no connection other it's something people don't like.
Yes there is bullying but if face camping needs to be looked at because of that then tbh the whole game needs to be looked at since both sides are guilty of this in more ways than one
Let's face it no matter what it's going to stay and right now due to the tool kit survivors have, it can be justified now.
And as for the racist ######### unfortunately this removal of the mask will do nothing much like how all the other reportable stuff is still rampant.

I stated it pretty clearly right in the OP.
You know what for the mask yes but this shoe sting argument to try and compare the two and remove facecamping is absolutely pathetic. At this moment in time survivors have no reason to ######### and whine about camping cause look at all the ######### they have to help not get caught right now and it's still a problem guess what it's the devs and the survivors fault.
Yes I disagree with the mask removal because it will change Jack ######### but, having to try and make an argument to remove something because of some bullshit honor code to try and make the game fun shows why there are so many people why think it's survivor biased. Me personally it's basically another argument to make DBD into baby's first pvp.

Yeah I've never heard of or seen issues with the leather face masks. and yeah it is a blanket solution. I don't have the masks anyway but I know a slash and burn solution when I see one. Again arguing about it isn't going to change anything. and it wasn't the goal of the topic. It's the classic instead of punishing the few they punish everyone. it happens all the time and it's sad.
To me it's more the every is screwed because of a few people but in this case it's more "let's fix this by going after a small thing instead of the larger thing" and tbh the compensation of shards is a joke why give people something that basically a "here you go buy something for someone else " since leatherface has no cosmetics that benefit from this due to be licensed.
Guess I'll just either have to buy a different characters cosmetic which right now most suck or try my luck on the shrine box to see if the week is good or not.

Except for the fact they have banned people for it, and it was big enough of a deal where there were gaming news articles about it, and loads of forum posts about it a while back. If it is just gonna be a problem, then remove it, simple solution.
If you didn't have them, don't spread hate on it when it literally doesn't affect you lmao and if you don't own or have ever played pinhead, why did you say his basekit was awful lmfaoo this forum never fails to be hilarious
Cause much like every other dlc they all get nerfed and to be honest between the few matches I had and seeing gameplay that's why I said the base kit sucks especially since it looked like many other killers now slow with no real map pressure unlessed backed up by perks along with the fact while BHVR trie to lie about giving things time before nerfing them they certainly didn't for the past two killers.
Also for the mask you do know that we also had it for lightborne as well right? And if it was such a big deal why didn't it continue to get coverage much like how hacking , ddosing and such along with the way people are in chat now?
And if it's a problem that needs to be removed why is a single mask being outed for being racism yet other thing such as flashlight spamming that can ######### up people's health not being addressed.
I know that the removal is a step in the right direction but much like anything else BHVR has done recently its just band-aid fixes with no real impact to anything.

His base kit most definitely doesn't suck, I've been maining pinhead since his release and I've written a large guide and have seen other guides like Pixel Bush use the same info, he just takes more skill and effort than other killers, something that the forums hates.
So what if they change their usernames and spout more in EG? They have 1 less tool to use for their hate, it is a positive while ######### change. If you can't grasp that then you can just keep shouting into the void because you can't wear a reskin color.
Guess someone used the mask on you then. First off, I don't know 100% for pinhead cause he's the only dlc I do not have and with the way the game is now I can't justify buying any more since most dlc now is not worth the prices.
Secondly, and this I need to make sure you understand I don't even have the masks so I don't care but spouting delusional nonsense about this being some sort of positive act might as well been a slap in the face cause here's a question for you "how many people even knew this was a thing?" And instead of fixing the report system, going after people and banning them for EGC and actually implementing a system to curve this kind of behavior, they decided hey this one thing that most people probably never knew about yeah let's have that be the first step.
It's not that I am against the idea but it's damn near pointless since it will change nothing at all.
-
@Lochnload_exe said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2737744#Comment_2737744
Not saying that, but no other killer has earnable stuff so it isn't much different. Everyone understands losing the masks was sad, but if a group of people are gonna use it in an awful way, may as well remove it so it can't possibly be used in that way.
Except it's going to change nothing at all they'll just change their usernames, spout more in egc, and still be that way no matter what happens also the compensation for it is a joke as well since those shards will reward you with nothing to replace this.
But hey I guess shelling out more money for a paid game is justified.
And also while I guess it's OK that we got voice lines for pinhead again (even though idc) , does it really matter cause like most killers (especially licensed killers )nowadays his base kit sucks.

this game is not survivor-sided. The killing rates are at around 50 % which means that the game is balanced.
Killers are only annoyed because the time of the easy 4ks is over, and that will never come back just accept it
Except those kill rate % means nothing since we don't know what they used, what map and how they got the kills . Also if the 50% case is what you want to factor it by, then each survivor should only be able to escape 12.5% of the time which we know is not true at all.

You're right in the sense that I worded my statement a bit wonky. I don't care about having more variety of perks in play necessarily - people play what they want and we can't control that.
What I care about is not nerfing everything that's even slightly strong to useless levels, which is what both survivors and killers seem to aim for when it comes to nerfing the other side's meta.
I do agree about perk dependence being a problem, but I don't think making EVERYTHING weak is the way to go for that.
As of right now it seems to be basically noed and camping/tunneling/slugging vs meta perks when it is boiled down to basics. Honestly as of right now I do have to disagree they do need to be nerfed only cause buffing has only lead the game to have the bullshit it has now cause right now.
If they really and I mean really looked at the statistics that caused this fiasco of an update we just had they would see that nearly 100% of the time there's a combination of the same perks for survivor over and over and over only cause there's no difference in each survivor unlike killer which lead to the issues we have now.

Are you hearing yourself? The thing is you don't even seem like you're trying to enjoy the game. I'm not saying that you should let the survivors step on you, but at the same time you shouldn't take everything they do as a personal attack.
I don't but I am so tired of the usually delusional mind set of "don't worry everything is fine" when it's clearly not. And of right now only 2-3 killers are worth investing in and the rest might as well show both what dlc are worth getting and that you wasted time and resources on characters that are not up to snuff anymore.

Twins and Clown/add-ons in general have nothing to do with anything I said, as I was talking about perks (both killer and survivor perks btw), so for someone who supposedly prides themselves on logic, that was a very illogical counter to make lol.
My main point is that nerfing all meta perks all the time is not the way to go, period. I don't care about perk variety, I care about perk usability. People can play whatever perks they want, but if we nerf all strong perks to pathetic levels, THAT is what makes gameplay more boring.
And right now isn't boring as hell?

I'm so tired of seeing whining on both sides about strong perks. I've been playing since 2019, so not even the duration of the game, yet DH was rarely complained about until the meta shifted after other perks were nerfed. It's like each side is set out to nerf every meta perk the other has, one at a time.
Sure, let's nerf DH, BT, CoH, NOED, Ruin, BBQ, and all meta perks into the ground and make this game absolutely boring with no variety. While we're at it, let's just remove perks from the game entirely, REALLY make it about skill and skill alone. That way, no one's feelings can be hurt by a perk in a game.
For the record, a few like CoH definitely could benefit with a change, of course. But most people aren't actually looking for balance, they're looking for their side to be elevated.
There's a couple of issues to your logic when it comes to saying nerfing perks will make the game boring
First, is that it's already at that point while killers have universally used perks such a bbq the side also has varying gameplays unlike survivor which is the same no matter what person you use which leads to people wanting their meta perks gone.
And second is the fact that it game itself is way too perk dependent as it is cause think about it like this. Without the perks survivors will have no crutches, no excuses and no ego trips anymore and for killer it could lead to some being revealed as having bad base kits and some do need balancing but as it stands now the perks are the problem and as long as people keep trying to defend using said perks it's going to stay unbalanced.

Just a thought I had, I still think CoH needs a healing boost nerf (more specifically healing in general needs a nerf and has for a while) but I really do not think boons in general are bad, in fact they are a healthy addition to the game. You only see CoH complained about. This doesn't make boons bad design, just means healing is busted (most good players know that anyways).
But also people act like they can't do anything against boons which just feels wrong. Ever since boons have been added, I haven't ever really had a horrible match. I've had tougher matches that is for sure, but I know how to react. I've also realized that in a meta change for survivors, it means you have to adapt as killer and there are certainly builds that can punish boons and make them more of a detriment for survivors.
One of the biggest ones is just a simple Thrill and Undying. Thrill is huge value and it basically means survivors have to cleanse instead of blessing because if they do, it is too much of a time sink. Throw on pentimento, bam extra gen slowdown too. Throw on any gen regression? makes the build more viable. Even throw on haunted and it is huge value.
Just silly seeing so much of the community act like killer is impossible now when players that either have been playing for a long time or practice and try to improve don't suffer or have matches like that. Sure everyone has bad matches, but it is always healthy to see where you can improve and realize where you made your own mistakes.
While you are correct in that COH is the main culprit of the mechanic being broken the mechanic as a whole needs to be reworked cause as it is now there is little to no justifiable countermeasures and if you boil it down boons now can no joke be considered a legit reason to tunnel and camp someone cause at the moment there's only two scenarios that can be done with boon totems waste time in snuffing them out (Which yes can be longer but it doesn't get rid of them) or ignore it and go after the one spawning it (which again some people can see as a reason to tunnel and camp).

Hitting a survivor directly with a bottle was easy, you only had to sitck to his back and throwing the bottle, of course you can miss, but you had 4 tries, now you have 2 and this is good, pinky fingers was the most busted instadown addon after huntress iri heads. There are still busted addons like some of Myers ones, but at least Myers is by far one of the weakest killers in the game.
The point is they need to aim in order for it to even work and for huntress Having only 1 ax is not busted at all. Yes, there are times where the killer gets them at point-blank range but nerfing the addons is not the way to do it since those are situational issues rather than the perk being broken especially when it seems it's more of a sense the survivor got outplayed rather than it being easy mode.
Same with NOED, Yes instadown perks and add-ons can be a problem for some people but unlike other issues the game has, these are lower on the bar than what needs to be fixed.

It's actually smaller than average. The issue is that the main building is really strong so how good it is depends on how good the Killer is at keeping chases away from that building. Especially since the rest of the map is... meh at best for loops.
To some yeah but others not so much because for some reason they thought why not have a vault and pallets right next to each other with out much room to do anything with it or in some cases just have debris that make it a problem to even hit someone (mainly for ranged killers)

Are there even that many killer sided maps anymore? Hawkins is gone. The Game got reworked and isn't anymore. The only 2 I can think of is Shelter Woods unless its a stealth killer and Dead Dawg which... is kind of debatable. Maybe Azarov's is if you're willing to ignore half the map.
Id say dead dawg for very few killers cause most have had problems with that map but most of the time it's another medium to large map that unless you have map pressure available you're screwed
-
Tried playing both
And definitely, survivor sided Between the map issues, the dev's responses to most issues, the perk meta of DS DH UB and now with COH, the lack of viability for most killer, and the patches equating to more nerfs than buffs for killers all around and vice versa for survivors I'm surprised to see people saying the game is balanced.
-
@NOEDENJOYER said:
It's not ''boons'' that are the problem, it's Circle of Healing. Compared to the other two, it's flawed in design by virtue of not needing the killer to be within its radius to work. The other two need the killer interacting within the boon for the survivors to get value, COH does not, hence the design problem.
Boons needed more time to be worked cause while the idea of them was good their execution was problematic. COH is the main culprit but due it being part of a problematic mechanic the whole thing needs to be looked at.

In no way can you know they're a delusional survivor-main by their post. Maybe they're just sick of these threads. I kind of am too.
Yes, Boons are an issue and the fact that they weren't addressed is ... Dumb. But, yeah, beyond Boons and bad maps, the game's not that bad for killer. Or rather you can be just as awful to survs as they can be to you.
I don't think perk loadout is all that necessary if you've invested time in a killer and the game as a whole. My go-to for Nemmy, as stated above that I've played him a bit, is BBQ (points) Agitation, Pain Resonance and Lethal Pursuer. Sub-meta overall, get mostly 4k's. My losses are my own fault, and sometimes because of garbage mapping. The latter is pretty painful though. Ultimately, yeah game feels bad sometimes, but it's not THAT bad IMO. You can have a different experience of course.
The hypocrisy in this community is amusing, the us vs. them mentality is beyond juvenile. Which is why I was keen on commenting your post because of the 'survivor main' response. You're better than this. Even if they're a survivor main, doesn't mean their opinion is wrong. The more delusional people are troublesome but it's best to address their arguments over their person. Unless you're baiting or something which I'm sometimes guilty of lol
Some are true but some you can tell they are that way by what they use as an argument point one specific one I tend to see a lot is "The perks are fine but tunneling and camping should be punished" that one clearly shows biased opinions because a lot at least from what I have seen do not factor in why it happens so often that's why I find it rather irritating to constantly see their responses to stuff.
Yes some are Viable issues and those are fine and dandy however, taking what they say into account seriously is lessened when some of those same people then try to spin it into basically the "Killer is OP, They shouldn't play to win" stereotype that makes some people believe it's not about balance it about turning DBD into baby's first PVP.
Also, perks at least on the killer side to me isn't just the loadout it's actually a byproduct of the Awful bloodweb system and can also be another us vs them mentality when you figure that survivors in order to get good perks just need to lvl 3 people min (Bill, Strode and David) and no real difficulty to who to use other than who they want to use meanwhile on the other side, it's get some good perks which could lead to needing to do 4 at min at almost max then having to think about the basekit of x killer and seeing if it's worth investing in which at this point in time is getting more and more smaller as time goes on because of the nerfs with no compensation such as with deathslinger PH and the artist being meh which is one of the main reasons why I basically gave up on this game.

So I've played killer. Nemesis no less, a killer that gets punished more than many others by DH due to validating over pallet breaks. I don't see it. Game's mostly fine. There's the typical DBD BS, but that honestly doesn't feel any worse than usual beyond CoH that even survivors think is dumb. I've yet to see a single survivor that wasn't baiting defending CoH. They are silent are worst.
Killers aren't abused, get over yourselves. Just because you don't get a 90% 3k rate anymore doesn't mean you're oppressed.
Oh I'm not saying they are abused, I am more just tired of condescending survivor mains spouting delusional bullshit without much understanding as to why people say this stuff in the first place.
And while yes some most are saying COH is broken it doesn't hide the fact that the boon mechanic needed more time to be developed cause of how much of a problem it has caused.
I don't care for getting 3k but it shouldn't fell like " Oh I don't have x perk or they ran x perk" instead of " I sucked and need practice "
Also, the fact that people are still trying to defend certain things while trying to say "x is fine but y isn't " shows both a double standard and how laughable it is to try to justify most decisions nowadays for this game.

Addons aren't going to make or break most killers in the game. They're not as important as some are led to believe.
I doubt very seriously if he changed his addons that he would have a totally different outcome in that match
Some do though however since the devs screwed with some of the killer's base kit to make them a joke.

I love the fake premise that the two are even remotely comparable. Dead Hard is a one time use perk during chase. Exhaustion cd stops while you're still running. It also requires strategic use for it to have any sort of value. What's the point of DH if you go down immediately after using it? I don't even use DH btw. It's literally the worst exhaustion perk so it's hilarious that that's the one killer mains complain about. I play killer too. The amount of times I've downed survivors after using dead hard by simply not lunging is astronomical. As a killer you have every tool to win a chase, you just have to outsmart the survivor. Uh, maybe don't waste 2 minutes chasing a survivor who is making you look like a clown??? Literally, duh. If you can't down a chase in two minutes, you are doing something very, very, very wrong. The idea that running the killer is easy is also hilarious. But sure sure, you play survivor too and it's "incredibly easy" lol. I play solo and I always have to run the killer because my team can't. I consistently go take the heat from the killer when I see a teammate injured because it's the best chance at getting gens done and getting out. Yeah, if I can run your sorry ass for 15 minutes without taking a single hit and have finally dead zoned the map because I have no more pallets, YOU DO NOT DESERVE THE KILL. Let alone a snowball to a 3 or 4k.
But please please, post a video showing how incredibly easy it is to run a killer an "pressing a button" for DH will grant you the ability to run the killer for an additional 5 minutes without any skill. What a quack.
It's a perk that rewards the survivor for ######### up and if it snowballs to a 3 or 4k thats the survivor's fault being to altruistic.
Sure though keep telling people how NOED is a major issue while having so many second chance perks.

That's different. Camping a survivor isn't the same as a survivor/killer using perks and addons.
Not with the way the game is now.

I feel like I hit a wall, I occasionally enjoy killer but I find very little fun about survivor anymore. Ever since SBMM I've had less and less fun, seen an increase in camping/tunelling/letting you bleed out rather than hooking etc.
Can you blame them though? At the moment the meta for survivors is second chance perks up the ass and right now doing anything else seems to punish the killer rather than making it better even with camping deterring perks like bbq.

Yes sir. Have you played against Trickster? No counterplay.
The BBQ aura reads on a Blight is a very big advantage. As soon as someone is put on a hook, you can count to 3 and he is already slapping someone else off a gen.
sounds more like a situational issue or more likely a you problem
Trickster requires both aim and a clear line of site, since some maps have so much debris on the map there is potential to use it as a shield for his knives and for bbq on blight I don't know what to tell you maybe hide in lockers maybe don't be too altruistic? Idk

Fun for this game= an alien concept now
What made it fun for me in the first place? I thought the concept was a good idea and at first, it was then found it was buggy on ps4 left got it on gamepass around the time the deathslinger was out and got interested again unfortunately now the concept is a huge facade stuffed with broken balancing issues and false promises.

I'm gonna be honest, my man, so much of this is just you going "yeah well they probably ######### it up/can't do it properly", and if that's your opinion, there is literally nothing that could be added to the game that wouldn't spark this same response from you.
There is a gigantic chasm of difference between "sucking up to the devs" and disagreeing with an incorrect criticism of the current patch, too. I'm not sucking up to the devs and I think they mess up a lot, as they did with these addon nerfs, but saying this patch is "survivor sided" or just more of the same is flat out wrong. They did a lot this time around, it's just that most of it isn't balance related.
You are right I have no faith in the devs at this time cause they have been shown time and time again that what they say is much different than what they do.
I never said you sucked up to them but, saying "they did a lot this time around " can easily be boiled down to "this is justified " which for the most part can be good but for BHVR it means nothing cause right now a lot more stuff needs to be done and much like times in their QnA's their recent updates and so on shows a much different tone maybe this isn't the most "survivor sided" patch to be shown but much like what was added in the past months of this game it's still shows " Survivor bias" or they just want to add pointless ######### just to try and coax people into the game without fixing it.

I don't like none of the pink/iridiscent broken addons of the killers (not all, only some of instadown ones), I almost don't use them, it's like an easy mode and I don't feel satisfaction with the kills. I only use them when I have a Mori daily for finishing the mission quickly and I still feel bad. Also when playing survivor and I face one of those addons I usually suicide in first hook.
The fingers will stay mostly untouched from my part. Also the second most broken pink addon is the clown pinky finger, the most broken was huntress iridiscent head and it was nerfed already, that kind of addons being nerfed is healthy for the game.
Why are they considered broken? For clown ,you have to aim the bottle directionally at the survivor and huntress has only one shot and still needs to aim it. I never could understand that with both perks that reward ######### up and being able to heal in the span of 2 seconds why is instadown stuff for killer considered broken?
