For me it was Pig, when I first started playing the game I HATED Pig, I'd constantly complain "how does anybody have fun playing her!?" and from being against her seemed super shallow and unfun. And holy- I had so much fun playing her, and love her to this day, despite no longer maining her.

If you make merchandise for kids, then you're marketing to kids. Whether or not the content is appropriate for children is a highly subjective matter that largely depends on social norms, but you make merchandise that targets your audience (or the audience you hope to acquire). You don't see Caillou-themed motorcycles, for instance, because they're not the target audience.

I was a teen when I first was enjoying dbd, I am now much older and still enjoy the idea and lore to FNAF and would probably buy some of the child marketed products (even though I do not really keep up with all the new stuff for the game series). Just my opinion

jake never was confirmed to be heterosexual so even if the tome story would imply or confirm he is gay it wouldn’t have changed anything, just added new info about the character. Which is the entire reason for the time story’s to exist. Giving more lore/background to the characters.

No, the person assumed he was being homophobic. They were thinking it was just gonna be another character with no lore other than "they are gay"

Agreed, I am assuming you got locked up because of the misunderstanding. companies seem to only do things such as changing their logo to a rainbow just so people do not get mad which is disappointing

Actual sane LGBT people care about representation but good one, which means properly written characters.
