  • The devs don’t care. They just implement a penalty for leaving and call it a day, because working on all of the things that enable toxicity requires much more work.

If a Survivor somehow started moving only at Nurse speed and couldn't drop pallets because of a bug, I'd be equally sympathetic toward that too.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1096397#Comment_1096397

Show me where devs said that being held hostage is not an okay ground to DC.

The fact that you get a disconnection penalty?

The devs aren't gonna be like "oh it was ok in this scenario therefore we'll pardon you and reset your timer and escalation process"

I'm not saying whether a dc is actually justified or not by human standards I'm saying that with the system in place there are no exceptions. No justified reasons.

  • @Freki It was reported months ago. Like all bugs it stays in the game months with no fix in sight.

I had a facecamping leatherface the last time who used NOED. We rushes the gens and we could do nearly all gens in the time which our mate dying on hook.

Than he found me and I managed to loop him for the last gen but in the end his NOED killed me and another mate.

So here is our facecamping leatherface with NOED. 3K, it feels really unsatisfied.

I think, it is hard to balance that. I don't really think NOED needs a big change, because totem cleansing is a good second objective but at this time I realised a problem with NOED and facecamping.

This is what we’re arguing. Survivors won’t be able to do all gens and totems in that time.

Maybe NOED would be better token based. For each survivor hooked you gain a token. For each token you gain 15-20 seconds of instadowns once the final gen is powered up to a maximum of 60-80 seconds. Max of 4 tokens. NOED wouldn’t have a direct counter then but at least it wouldn’t benefit campers. Also survivors could wait it out if they’re screwed by rng of gates or a hard totem spawn like in the indoor maps.

Or maybe if people want the totems being done it doesn’t give instadowns but just stops the gates from being opened until all totems are cleansed. Gates can’t be opened until all 5 totems are cleansed. Or once the final gen pops an unlit totem on the map lights up and the gates cant be opened until it’s cleansed. Doesn’t activate when hatch is closed.

The worst part is just how much the survivors in this community gaslight you.

If you go on the subreddit and say that something survivors have it too strong, or that something a killer has needs buffs, they will come out in droves and flame you like you're some ######### moron for thinking it.

They've been doing this kind of ######### for years, even with ######### from way back

"######### do you mean MoM is overpowered can you not handle having to hit them one more time it's only been out for two weeks learn to play."

"######### do you mean Leatherface is weak I'll have you know I'm rank 1 and I 4k with him every game lol learn to play."

"Pallet vacuum is OP? Lol you're seriously complaining about a core mechanic of the game? Learn to play."

"Forgot this part: 'All 4 survivors now get spawned hooked in the basement. They each get a 0.000009% chance to get themselves off the hook'"

(This last one is a direct quote btw)

There are people that do the same on both sides. They’re either ignorant to how powerful/unfair something is because they don’t play the other side or they know and don’t want it nerfed.

Also ignore the reddit. It’s hands down the worst community I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Looking at that I can now see why the game is full of so many A holes.

I don't have any proof that doesn't show names but this has definitely been happening since servers dropped on ps4.

People with Legacy even and no one on ps4 had an opportunity to get legacy as it was before launch.

Maybe they just hacked the PS4 version. High chance the legacy skin files are still in the game.

  • You need to calm down. All that stress can not be good for you.

That Leatherface one was the most BS. I hope this shows that not everyone is all rosy on the survivor side as some killer mains think it is. This is one of the reasons why survivors can be so salty sometimes. It’s not always that they’re angry at you its the fact that they feel cheated by the game.

  • Yeah all this has done is decrease one problem and increase another.

I’s imagine thats the end of it though. To the devs its a job well done. Who cares about all the toxic behaviour trying to bait people into disconnecting now? Its all fine and healthy for the game.

Who cares if people are just giving up on 1st hook? Its healthy for the game and fun for everyone else

  • He’s like a Hillbilly that only has his power 30-40% of the time.

  • As you say it’s only used by bad players. The wirse a killer is the more convinced you become that they have NOED because NOED means that they’ve never had to learn how to play the game.

It stomps solo and is useless against a 4 man swf which is ridiculous because you’d want the oerk more for the 4 man groups co-ordinating genrush and all getting that adrenaline instaheal. These killers don’t care though because they dc or lobby dodge vs swf anyway and continue to stomp solos with NOED.

I think they’re shooting themselves in the foot. I think NOED is inflating the kill rate and denying certain killers buffs.

A comment like this admits defeat, have a good night.

I hope one day, I can be your teammate while you are camped. I will not touch a single gen and only look for totems...if I was on a SWF team I’d also tell them to go find those bones while you die. When you cry I will tell you i was trying to counter NOED. You will probably have suicided on hook and left anyway though. All the while at least one more will have likely died because of the time wasted. You can’t win...look for totems against a camper? At least one more is probably going to die. Don’t cleanse and he has NOED? At least one more is probably going to die. A shame you are being biased and don’t see it.

These people don’t play survivor so they have no idea. They expect survivors to play perfectly, get all 5 gens done and all 5 totems cleansed within the 2 minutes it takes a survivor to die on hook because in their mind all 5 gens really can be done within 2 minutes.

They’ve never played solo and had other survivors sandbag, vault pallets to try and get the killer to kill you all because you cleansed dull totems and post game they rip into you that you were wasting time with it and not helping the team. Because for some reason there are a number of survivors out there who take offence to cleansing dull totems.

  • It’s not all of a sudden its been requested for years. Barely anyone asked for Ruin to be nerfed. If you have survivors a choice between Ruin and Noed for the nerfhammer they would have picked NOED everytime.

  • Kindred is pointless. The information you give is only as useful as the survivors that are receiving it.

I’ll take it a few games then end up being left on hook and stop using it for another few months.

  • Some of y’all should chat outside of the forums since you’re in the same boat. Never know who may live in the same state. The people who seem to be the luckiest in love are those that create an opportunity everywhere. A lot of people wait until it finds them, they go to the same job everyday visit the same stores everyday and nothing changes because it’s the same old people day in and day out. Some people just try to chat up everyone, they get nowhere a thousand times but eventually they meet someone because they’ve created so many opportunities.

At least you’d have DBD in common. You can SWF together <3

You're inferring that mori spam (which is bannable) happens every other game. With all the tools built right into consoles and graphics cards these days to record highlights etc, it's hard to believe so many killers get away with it. You grossly exaggerate all of your claims, on literally every topic. Be realistic, dude.

If I have played you before, and I know you like to be clicky clicky with your flashlight, or abuse god windows, or in any way be an annoyance or problem for me that could skew the game etc, I am going to eliminate you ASAP. Even if that means tunneling you and slugging you with knockout, thana and sloppy butcher. It's called strategy.

mori spam doesn't hold the game hostage anymore. Also it's a chore for players to record and upload lengthy large videos to youtube and then submit a report everytime.

Nobody said it happens every game but it happens and is glossed over.

My username is ironic, I don't use flashlights, I never "clicky clicky". We're not talking about eliminating a good survivor or a toxic player (it's a bad strat to even waste so much time chasing them) we're talking about people singling others out to ruin the game for them just because they played well in a previous game. Not to mention all the survivors that work with killers, sandbag etc etc the community is a mess and there hasn't even been any attempts to clean it up. It's not a strategy at all it's trolling for the sake of it.

  • @McLightning said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1096689#Comment_1096689

I mean, if you know someone could be a problem late game, it makes sense to eliminate them ASAP early game.

    Here we go again.

Don't play innocent with it I clearly said mori spam. Their goal isn't to eliminate you, it's just to ruin the game for you. Tbagging until bleed out with ghostface, mori spamming, camping and hitting on hook. I've seen it all.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

I get where you're coming from and agree, "some" people are complaining without good reason for the dc bans but did you watch the video?

Number 7 is the exact same system DBD uses but Apex's system is more lenient, waiting 3 games before the 5 minute escalating ban while DBD's is right away.

Also, the bans in the video are all very forgiving with gear5 being the worst with year long bans but as the video said, 18 of 21 matches quit for that guy in 1 day. Destiny still let you play the main game, the lowered rank seems to have been a bug for that guy, longer queue times but still playable and can rejoin, getting put with other dcers means you can still play just the same, and just a funny death scene with no consequence for dcer.

That video title is super misleading and clickbaity.

I would bet Apex doesn't have the community DBD does either.

Outplay a killer in one game? get ready for when they see you a few games later and tunnel and mori spam you for 5 minutes, which is apparently all good fun and by the rules according to the developers.

  • I hope the killer challenges are better than before. 5 chaser emblems is dull because you can only get 1 emblem per game.

I play survivor and slugging doesn’t bother me, it’s a legit strategy... you are very cheery set in your stance that slugging is somehow wrong. It is the single best defense killers have right now against gen speed... thank the devs did that.

In the meantime your opinion is clearly the minority in the forums, the playerbase and most important the devs don’t agree with you. Just find a new game that lets you set the rules

    Slugging is fine.

slugging with the intention of letting people bleed out, or slugging after 2 people have disconnected is what bothers me. I like how you keep twisting it to fit your narrative.

Try taking your own advice too. Don’t complain about gen speeds or DS, go find a game that has objectives go at the speed you want :)

I mean, I think regardless of the side, if the game entirely breaks it's fine to DC. I think the system was put in prematurely considering the amount of bugs that make the game not playable at times.

I completely agree. I’m not against the penalties although it may seem so its just that I too think it’s premature.

Its like the attitude is “yeah our game is fine, we can have penalties now” which isn’t the case.

Also bugs aside, this is Behaviour so they’ll likely put the penalty system in place and call it a day rather than looking at some of the reasons why disconnects were escalating out of control.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1096389#Comment_1096389

So....even mori spamming doesn't give you a justified reason to DC? Being body blocked in a corner with no way to escape isn't justifiable?

According to the system and the developers that’s a big fat NOPE.

Hence why people like myself are saying maybe before this is implemented certain things in the game should have been addressed.

  • They will never allow exceptions. That’s the whole point of it

  • Love how when its a killer issue somehow the comments are sympathetic.

No its not acceptable hence why the system punishes EVERYTHING. Nothing is acceptable other than playing the game to the end.

  • @ermsy said:

How does this punish the innocent more? Lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1096365#Comment_1096365

The 2 survivors that DC will get punished with the timer. The two left will undoubtedly lose the game but usually the killer will either quickly kill them or farm.

Dcing is not ok period. You are ruining the other players experience by dcing. You should be annoyed at those two survivors that are dcing and ruining the game rather than allowing them to get away with it.

Your examples are the exception and not the norm. I could also list Fringe scenarios without the DC penalty in place to show why it's needed as well.

The killers dont farm and they dont kill quickly. Many slug for the 4k to try and gain some points back.

I’ve also had “EZ EZ” post game after this.

They aren’t exceptions. Its common enough for it to be a problem. People like you dont care though because you barely play survivor so never see these situations. To you all that matters is that ez win.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/129609/ok-the-dc-bans-need-to-go-its-a-part-of-any-online-game

My personal online play experience is that any online game I’ve played has a DC penalty.

The harshest is any game that connects to the Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) servers (I used to play a lot of Street Fighter). If 3 DC’s are detected within a 2 hour period, then a 72 hour ban is put in effect for that CFN account for ANY of Capcom’s brawlers/fighters that connect to the CFN.

A 1 on 1 fighter is in no way comparable to DBD. Theres no room for toxicity or trolling in there and the games are over in a very short time. Theres no crashing, no gamebreaking bugs, nobody holding the game hostage etc

  • @ermsy said:

The DC penalty solves more problems then it causes and because of that it is here to stay.

If a mass survivor suicide were to happen in every game, the statistics would reflect that and the devs would act accordingly but as far as I can see this isn't happening.

The games I've had, barely anyone DC's anymore and I've only had a couple suicides so mostly it's been positive. And I've not crashed once but I'm on ps4 so I can't speak for other platforms.

When 2 survivors dc they get a 5 minute time out.

The 2 survivors left in the game get utterly shafted and it could be equally as long if not longer before they get into a new game.

This stupid system punishes the innocent more than the guilty.

  • I tried to do it. Slugged one with NOED, chased the other and slugged. Opened gates to start timer. Couldnt find either slug because they dont make any noise now and sometimes theres a bug where they get free tenacity. One bled out (he was halfway down previously) the other crawled into hatch.

    I got Behaviour’d.

  • This is what I’ve been saying. People getting punished for server issues and game crashes and gamebreaking bugs. People will stop playing if it becomes too much.

Then there is the fact that disconnects were a way for people to vent off steam with some of the BS in the game. Not saying it was right but there is a lot of stuff in this game that tilts people that you wouldn’t find in other games.

The penalties should have started out small so random crashes or bugs wouldn’t be an issue and then escalated. It should be the worst offenders that get hit the hardest.

This way right now just tends to hurt people that play the most. I feel like it might be enough to put some people off playing.

  • @Huntar said:

The devs can't tell whether you forced a crash or it happened naturally. If it's a rare occurrence, the timeout will have been almost expired by the time you get the game running again. This is intentional, and how the devs want it to be.

Anyone remember when they said they WOULD be able to tell the difference when they got dedicated servers? 😂

  • @Foxfire47 said:

DCing separates people who are salty and people who actually enjoy the game. I don't want a salty survivor ruining my game because "oh I don't like the map" or "oh I got downed for the first/second/umpteenth time" and screwing over the rest of the teammates. Learn to deal with it or take the DC penalty. Can't deal with it? Stop playing the game. Simple.

It really doesn’t. They just give up on hook now. There’s literally no point in playing survivor unless you’re playing SWF.

i aheee there are toxic players and things, but all of the toxic things need addressed together or not at all.

You address slugging, camping, tunneling, teabagging, clicky clicky flashlight, and sabotage hook build with no mither and breakout all at once.

Yes. They need to address the reasons why the community has become so full of salty ragequits. If they leave it as it is then disconnects just become hook suicides or killers going afk.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Given all the issues DBD tbh I preferred it when everyone could just DC, it didn't really spoil the match for me and I didn't give a *** honestly.

Most people don't feel that way though, which is fine, so I get the need for it. I still think it's bad overall though personally, given the state of the game, but it is what it is. I don't DC enough to really be affected by it much, though I had some infinite loads and rank update error and it punished me for 2/3 of them which is stupid as hell imo.

Those who play the game casually can have a few games, d/c the one they don't like and turn it off until tomorrow.

Those who play a lot are more likely to be hit by those kind of game errors day after day if they play multiple hours and they will get the rolling penalty.

It actually punishes people that play the game more.

  • @johnmwarner said:

It’s different to who, you? Leaving four people to bleed out is within the game rules. That doesn’t make it “right,” but it’s within the rules. If you are going to punish people for something with the rules where does the line stop?

I don't get what's so hard to comprehend about it.

"(insert mechanic) isn't fun and is used to be toxic. It needs a solution"

Is it wrong to wrong the game to be more fun? it's not against the rules no but it doesn't make it right and something should be done to fix it. That's on the devs to figure out but they just seem to want to leave the community to it when it comes to being toxic.

I'm very grateful for these penalties, dcs have dropped a lot

dcs have dropped a lot but hook suiciding has skyrocketed.

To me just wanting a normal game it doesn't make any difference. I don't care if I get a few more points now.

  • @Almo said:

We only use DC rate against a Killer as one indicator. We have never changed a Killer just because the DC rate was high.

In Legion's case, the DC rate was in fact quite high. But when we looked at the reason people didn't seem to like playing against them, we agreed with that reasoning and made changes.

So if suddenly we had tons of DC against a Killer that's not in a bad spot, we'd let the DC penalty system take care of it.

But nothing is addressed with Legion. People still hate him. He's just really poorly designed.

If I play him for a daily people now give up on 1st hook.

I actually think he was less boring before.

  • I don’t get why everyone rips on Spirit. She’s far from the most BS killer.

  • Nope. Its a timeout from both roles.

  • Why would they do that? Survivors get “pressure” points for you closing the hatch too.

They likely waiting, realised you weren’t coming and left.

just like a survivor finding a key in a chest or the strong as heck window spawning on rancid, getting haddonfield, seeing 2 gens pop in the first minute , seeing the window of iron works of misery spawn in.

you saying "moris and tunneling arent fun " is not a great excuse for DCing, just like killers shouldnt DC for the things I've stated.

If you are DCing because you arent having "fun" then you probably shouldn't play the game. because ultimately you ruin the game for your teammates and the killer.

The disconnect penalties didnt bring out the bugs and crashes , its just an excuse (most of the people not all of them, because I know there are some people who do crash) for people who abuse DCing use.

Also the devs have already said that if your PC is not good enough to run dead by daylight without crashing then you probably shouldnt play it until you fix it.

I didn’t say it was a valid reason for disconnecting, I’m saying that with the penalty in place everything that half the playerbase used to dodge will now be brought up even more.

Because lets be honest it wasn’t a tiny minority of the community disconnecting it was a hell of a lot of people.

There are things one side can do in this game to completely ruin it for the other that aren’t present in other games with dc penalties. Some maps really are not fun to play for one side. Some items/offerings really do suck the fun out. Rocket Legaue and Rainbow Six don’t have this hence why its a bad comparison.

Because if it’s not addressed then you just end up turning players away from the game, or disconnects turn to survivors giving up on 1st hook or killers going afk. All you’re doing that is turning one problem into another like right now disconnects are down but hook suiciding has skyrocketed.

I didn't see them say anywhere their new system would take individual killer skill into consideration, it will still probably be globally- unfortunately.

Its in the status update for the new matchmaking.

“In the future, we would like to extend this system to support different ratings for each killer, allowing you to practice a new killer without being immediately matched against high skilled players. This may not be included in the initial launch of the feature. “

Just try not to care about winning? I highly doubt you would accept someone telling survivors to not care about escaping.

A lot of survivors have learned not to care about escaping due to being put with potatoes. All you can do is pip and hope once you’re at rank 1 you’re going to be put with good survivors.

Not sure why you turned this into a killer or survivor issue either. I said there was something on the way which may help towards it but right now it’s not available, the devs aren’t going to roll out an update tonight to fix OP’s issues, therefore these things are out of their control and so all they can do is control what he/she does in the game until a fix comes along.

  • @OtakuBurrito I had a game yesterday where there was me and another survivor left and Huntress had just got down the other guy, had the win in the bag, and they were taking him to a hook and then the game just ended. It showed those 2 as having disconnected.

Very likely the servers just being the servers.

Sorry to hear about the 15 minute timeout. Seems you're just another bit of collateral damage to them.

  • Anyone that mains low tier killers. They take a killer that isn't the strongest and commit time to learning all the ins and outs in order to perform better with them.

Better than just picking instasaw billy and slapping on NOED and an ebony.

  • @Abathur said:

    Heres my two cents/beef/rant.

I can understand why the DC system was put in place... however the gaping problem is it does NOT fix the problem with killers who just suck the fun out of the game. Im talking about the killers who bring in a mori and they just tunnel one person out of the game with no chance to play the game for what it is and proceed to mori them 90 seconds or less into the game.

If I DC because I just dont want to play, fine, Punish me by all means. But If I am facing a game like the above mentioned statement where I am literally being bullied out of the game by a complete and utter (bluntly speaking) prick who I cant tell whether or not they are gonna tunnel for moris until its actually happening please forgive me if I dont feel like rewarding the killer with an Easy Mori. We're literally talking an item that takes 2/3's of the hard work out of the game and they feel the need to tunnel... It is literally the ONLY reason I disconnect from games short of a family emergency, and yet because I end up having days - like today - where killers are being absolute dickheads I get punished for their desire to ruin the game for others. Thats not good design at all and its just not fun to go against.

Before anyone rushes in to tell you how it's all acceptable and moris are balanced..

There are definitely things in this game that are not "fun. Killer bringing ultra rare add ons and tunneling off hook with an ebony mori.

This is why it's ridiculous to compare the game to something like Rocket League or Rainbow Six with disconnect penalties. There isn't anything in the game there. Those games are just put the ball in the next, or shoot the other person. There's not really anything anyone can do to take the fun out of the game for you.

All the disconnect penalties have done is bring the bugs and issues like this into the limelight. You need your game to be fun for people to keep playing. This is why I said it will hurt the game in the longrun.

Still no reason to DC. Report them, they get banned, won't happen again for some time.

Regarding my comment, I never said you do tbag. But if you want "toxic" campers being a valid reason to DC, the same should apply to tbaggin survivors. As @johnmwarner said, there is always two sides. And I'm pretty sure, if killers DC on tbaggin survivors, you would be laughing, despite your own DC ruleset on toxic killers

I didn't say toxic campers or tbaggers are a reason to disconnect, thats a little different to all 4 being intetionally left to bleed out.

I do think toxicity in general needs to be addressed though.
