  • I think it should start out small due to the fact that the game is unstable, but escalate more for repeat offenders.

That way the biggest disconnectors get harsher punishments but the one offs due to crashes, server kicks, hackers etc aren't punished as hard.

  • They're working on a new matchmaking system which should give you a different rank per killer.

As for now, just try not to care about winning. Just keep chasing survivors even if they're good because it will help you learn how to use the killer effectively. No pain no gain as they say.

  • Also remember "no good reason to dc"

    https://clips.twitch.tv/BusyCloudyOrangeBabyRage

    https://clips.twitch.tv/BusyCloudyOrangeBabyRage

Should have seen them in game. After they got caught they were pretending to run at normal speed, but slightly boosting forward dead hard style when near a pallet/vault multiple times per chase. 100% luck on kobe and self-cares in about 5 seconds 😂

I've had players like these from time to time. They try to hide their hacks but when you have so many hours on the game you KNOW how fast characters should run and you know when something feels off and it isn't lag. They're always a little ahead. If tru3 wasn't using Wraith he wouldn't have caught them off guard like this.

That statement applies to a lot of things on BOTH sides...

Survivors hiding in locker with DS, teabagging, abusing a near infinite loop

Killers camping, tunneling, slugging everyone at 5 gens left

If you choose to get rid of one thing because people don’t like it that’s a slippery slope

    They should be addressed lol

You do realize if there's a certain amount of maximum time, then it's not really being held hostage, right? Devs even addressed this iirc.

It's not fun nor good game design though. Just because it's allowed doesn't make it good.

  • Keeping hold of certain gens is certainly a good tactic. It doesn't necessarily need to be a 3 gen strat but you need to be mindful of which gens exist and which you're willing to let go and which you want to keep. I don't go for 3 gen strat straight away I usually do a few chases and as the gens go down I look for a good area with 3 or 4 close by or away from a god loop or in an area that has previously been cleared of pallets. You want to ensure the survivors don't get the last few gens spread mapwide basically. I do fine this way.

It only sucks on maps like mothers dwelling where even gens are miles apart no matter what (seriously that map is ridiculous).

Ok, assuming I'm killer main? I'm 50/50 and currently more like 70% survivor. That's why I said I can't confirm the slugging happens very often. Would be easy to say if I just play non slugging killer... Letting 4 people bleed out I have actually never seen at all.

As you didn't comment on my first sentence I guess you agree to ban tbaggin?

I really don't see many complains about BT or if I see they are not really well thought, and I can't remember to see any complains about Unbreakable. Regarding DS, this is abusable and there are already good ideas to tweak it without losing its main purpose. And for gen rushing, this is difficult to address, also regarding the "do gens on campers". But with the trial warmup we have finally a good idea that would fit in perfectly for all situations.

Btw if the killer does not explicitly run a sluggin build, it is not that hard to counter a 4 man slugging. It is normally survivors fault when this happens, like getting downed all in one place, so "guarding" the slugs is easy. You don't even need perks against this slugging.

I don't tbag actually and my username is ironic. I never use flashlights.

You don't see requests for nerfs? are we reading the same forum? every other post is about one of those perks being nerfed or "genrush".

Funny thing is that you could replace Insta-saw Billy with Tier III reliant Myers, and that'd be another 50% of games that I have a problem with! The only difference is that the games go on for five times as long with the same result. Sometimes we even get all the generators done first!

If it's on someone like Trapper, I get it. He's slow, has his own set-up and his best strategy is exploitable, that being force the 3-gen. Then again, Trapper's about the only killer I'm fine with NoED on and even then it still feels incredibly cheap. Clown too, but then again, if you're the type to play both Clown and NoED, then you might have some sort of mental instability or an over-enthusiasm for the From Software games.

For some reason though, it always feels like the scummiest thing on Hillbilly, Leatherface, Ghostface and Myers. Maybe it's because they all have instant-downs build into their base kit and are easily obtainable.

No I'm not counting Oni here, because nobody plays him on console for any one else who tries to argue with me here.

Myers isn't as bad because it's often the survivors fault then. Noob survivors throw games by cuddling up to him together. Good survivors split up when he gets tier 3. LF isn't so bad since he isn't that great a killer although with instasaw he's bad.

Billy is the worst because there's no stalking he just has that chainsaw on demand. Also he sprints across the map so unlike Myers where survivors need to be close and he needs to get them within a certain time limit, Billy just instadowns one and zooms across the entire map to instadown the next.

Hillbilly with instasaw and NOED is just ridiculously easy and probably the least skilled loadout in the entire game.

Ghostface is just a cheap all around killer and along with Legion really highlights how bad the game design can be sometimes. A killer with no terror radius, no red stain, no warning yet he suffers no slowdown or penalty to attacks and most run aura perks so he just ends up feeling like the cheapest killer in the game. It's not surprising one bit that players which gravitate towards this kind of killer run NOED.

To be fair most Myers don't use NOED. GF and Hillbilly though, strong killers that feel a little cheap, it's obvious why players drawn towards those are going to want NOED. They just want the win. Any feeling of skill of accomplishment is meaningless to them it's all about the end result.

  • The devs call this "collateral damage"

  • Awful map. It's quite confusing and hard to find gens or survivors.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1095019#Comment_1095019

My best example for NoED being the worst functional killer perk to exist is one particlular Yamaoka Billy match. He only chainsawed, only got me once, closed hatch, I got gate and he had NoED. Never swung his mallet otherwise.

Never had a chance to do bones as he was everywhere and I am the best kind of Blendette. I DESERVED my escape for how well I did, but no. He had to have NoED with Insta-saw. All for his precious 4k.

And people wonder why I hate Billy.

Yup that's a Billy game. Unlimited instadowns and can traverse the map in seconds, often able to instadown survivors back to back but many run NOED because why not? and somehow you're meant to find time to do the totems.

This is how killer mains want every killer to be, yet they don't want NOED changing and they want totems better hidden.

Hell yeah, while at it, lets ban every survivor that tbags and does ClickyClicky cuz it is toxic af! Equal treatment to everyone!

That quote is ridiculous. And the lulz would reduce if survivors finally learned to punish bad killer behavior. You can pickup slugged survivors and go on, if the killer camps slugs or hooks rush gens. It is really that ez. Just hang in there for your team, wasting the killers time and flame him to hell in post game chat if it helps you. Ragequit never was the solution and awards the killer. And if you really face this situation SO often (which I really cannot confirm) then you should maybe run anti slug builds

It was referring to killers that slug everyone. There is nobody to pick you up at that point.

Unbreakable is a one time use. I'm bringing it now, however its funny when killers say bring it, genrush, run ds for tunneling, run BT for camping etc etc yet then they rush onto the forums to plead for nerfs to all of these lol. Nerf BT! Nerf DS! Nerf Unbreakable! nerf genrush!

Perhaps now you understand why all of those perks exist and why they're so strong.

  • There are some decent people in the game but sadly not everyone is.

I’m on EU servers. The Russian players especially give absolutely no #########. 1 person disconnected? Its still camp and tunnel. 2 people disconnected? Its slug for the 4k and “EZ EZ EZ” post game. It gets a little tilting after a while.

  • @xodeusism said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1095082#Comment_1095082

Yes, I 'd rather slug than potentially let a survivor ruin the game for others and give them what they want, which is play lobby simulator. Ruining the game for others to get a depip to bully newer killers or just grief the match in itself is bad. Slugging is also a mechanic killers utilize. You got Knockout and Deerstalker for example.

The DC penalty shed light on a different mechanism that survivors can use to ruin the game. If you want to play the game, you want to play the game at its full potential and not handicapped because someone doesn't wanna deal with this killer or a map they don't feel like playing in. Its a competitive game, not a "hold your hand and everyone is happy" game.

Do you hook them if other survivors disconnect?

Because thats the only point I give up. No point doing a 2 vs 1 not gonna win there, but some killers slug for the 4k because they’re toxic, others because they want the safety pip so much and the devs in their wisdom decided if survivors dc the killer depips.

I’m not totally against slugging if all 4 survivors are in the game. I used to do that but I dont bother so much anymore. Why? Because that person has given up and likely wont contribute to the game in anyway. Might as well just let them go otherwise they just go afk. Then I go easy on the other survivors and try not to eliminate anyone until all 3 are on death hook so that they all have a chance to get points.

The problem with the disconnect penalty is that you need 4 people committed to playing the game. Sadly you aren’t always going to get that. You get people that give up, people that troll, people that meme etc

This is why the game needs a casual and a ranked mode. That way anyway that was pissing about in ranked could more easily be punished and casual would be for all those that want to act silly.

Of course the devs are flatout against this though.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1094694#Comment_1094694

Simple answer - This is DBD, when things crash we say "Oh, that's just DBD, I'll restart and queue up again". Now people are being punished for this instead of just loading up and playing again they're locked out, of course there are going to be more complaints.

This is exactly it. I don’t get why people don’t understand this. After years of complaining about fixing the code and having it go unheard people just learned to accept the state of the game sadly.

I had a video found on Reddit of this exact bug

    https://youtu.be/DHLYMaLin_Q

Interestingly this exact bug caused the same disconnection standoff between killer and survivor last time they trial the disconnect penalty. There was videos of someone experiencing it, might have been Zubat I think.

Yet a few months on and they have tinkered with and implemented a dc penalty system but they haven’t touched this bug one bit. They wonder why players are unhappy when their priorities are like that.

  • Another killer that slugs rather than hooks survivors

”jUsT lET tHE kIlLeR hOoK YoU”

The dc penalty as expected solved very little. The way the developers see it though the killers now get the points they were denied before so they dont actually get those points at all since they get 1 hook per survivor and barely any chases, breaking points etc

But people aren’t disconnecting so its all good.

  • Forum members “just get the killer to hook you”

    ClickyClicky “killers wont always hook”

Forum members “I dont hook survivors anymore when they want out of the game”

Oh look I was completely right yet again.

For the record I’m referring to asking the killer to hook you when 1-2 survivors have quit within the first minute. It wasn’t uncommon for 2 to disconnect then the killer would slug the third and expect them to sit there for 4 minutes. Punished for other people disconnecting. The game is all about killer fun though since devs cave to all the demands on the forum.

  • @Mandy said:

I think NOED is completely fair as it is, it's easy to remove from the game by getting all the totems and if the killer is camping one person then there's plenty of time to do that.

Survivors are not going to do all generators and all totems in the 2 minutes it takes someone to die on hook.

Not to mention if the survivors don’t attempt a rescue they get punished for it with a penalty to altruism (great design).

So you can camp one person out, start camping a second before all the gens/totems are done and easily get a third person with NOED if the survivors didnt manage to get every totem.

Whats the point in killers trying to play normally, when camp and NOED for most games will be a pretty safe bet on at least a 2k?

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

I've seen some pretty rediculous stuff since the DC penalty was added. Not saying I want it removed, because I don't. But wow, the toxicity is at new levels.

Watched my wife play a game (I told her I've had enough survivor for the month) and the killers are mori spamming, face camping, hardcore tunneling, even working with survivors to harass another one. Watched won lure a survivor into rescuing her off the hook, just so he could slug her, and down the rescuer. Hooked the rescuer and mori spammed my wife on and off for around a minute before killing her.

No, my wife did not teabag, have an item, or loop him all that well. He was just doing it. Said afterwards that she could have DC'd if she did not like it. Wow.....

All this stuff existed before. It’s a reason why the disconnect rate was so high.

But the people that implemented the penalty don’t actually play the game so of course they have no idea. Just a bunch of people completely out of touch and without a shred of care for the game they’re working on.

  • I’d rather No Mither didn’t get buffed. It sucks when you play survivor and have this kind of liability on your side. I wouldn’t want reasons to encourage people to use it.

I read the thread, sure. That's why I didn't reference anyone specific. There's a lot of these complaints all of a sudden and I find it funny that it's so "all of a sudden". Is that a crime? To find the irony in something humorous?

Dude, you need to stop targeting me for having a valid, opposing opinion. Talking down to me constantly, calling me a troll and a liar, overall just belittling me. :/

But if you insist on talking about baiting people or trying to rile people up...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1090813#Comment_1090813

From a different thread, that I hadn't even posted a message in. Yeah, you don't get to talk about harassment, bait, and riling people up. Now climb down out of my rectal cavity.

    🙄

That was a joke. That should have been obvious. Lighten up.

Meanwhile your line about “some people consider DS balanced” was clearly aimed at me since you drop it in everytime. So yes it was aimed at someone specific.

But yeah fine. I’ll climb out and just ignore you then.

  • @HellDescent said:

Because it doesn't hinder survivors. Sound hasn't been working since Legion and engine update. Wonder how fast it would be fixed if terror radius would be bugged for survivors, but they probably make sure it's all good on that end before releasing an update, instead of just going with it anyway.

Yup. It was the Legion update December 2018. Sounds have never been the same since.

There was a brief period early 2019 I believe where they did fix them. They weren’t the same as before but they were good. Update after though back to garbage.

Survivors barely make noise or don’t make it consistently. Also before there seemed to be a more natural drop off, as you got further away the sounds became quieter whereas now it tends to drop off completely after a few metres. From noise to complete silence by taking 1 step away.

  • @Pulsar lmao seeing the dc would have probably been even funnier for me. It’s such a Claudette thing to do.

@TAG You think? I was gonna swap PWYF but yeah I guess if you make sure you have max totems by the time the last gen pops its gonna be better for whizzing around to everyone.

Look over that sub forum and you will see crash reports. You will also see how inactive that sub forum is. Now look at the Steam forums, Reddit, anywhere else there is DbD discussion you'll see a lack of legit crash reports.

There is a serious lack of crash reports when you remember just how buggy DbD is known to be! They exist, don't mistake that. But DbD simply isn't THAT broken!

All games have a % of its playerbase unable to play it. Those players also just happen to be very rare one in a thousand/million bug or far more likely people with subpar or poor equipment that can't handle DbD. Some folks aren't even telling the truth at all.

It's harsh. I know it is because I lived through those sports analogies myself being a fat kid. Felt bad, but it made me want to improve myself. Sometimes you gotta take one to the chin in order to learn. And I also learned this in gaming. When I start to see my PC unable to keep up. I start planing upgrades. Saving cash here/there, making a shopping list, budget a build, then simply get that new PC.

That's life. Do what you can till you can't.

People don't report crashes because they take them for granted at this point. The only reason it's an issue now is because there's a penalty of being punished for a crash.

  • @McLightning said:

    What do you mean lying?

Calling me a liar and a troll? What did I lie about and how am I trolling? Bro, stop harassing me already. My god, always up on my jock, calling me names etc. So much belittling. Chill, my dude.

It's almost like I'm not allowed to have an opposing opinion without it being considered trolling.

You've obviously been reading the thread, stop pretending to be innocent after trying to rile up other people.

Go back and read my post on the other page where I make it clear which kind of slugging is being referred to here.

  • Plague isn't so bad with the right loadouts. As others have mentioned there are other killers, Nurse, Freddy, Ghostface etc

But yeah some maps hurt Pig and Clown. Hell mothers dwelling is probably too big for many killers.

  • @McLightning said:

You know what's funny? Some people in this very thread have made it abundantly clear that decisive strike is a perfectly balanced perk (lol, k) and the counter to it...is slugging. These same people are now saying slugging is somehow toxic, and "baiting a DC".

So much KEK, but not enough W.

Don't lie and try to twist things.

It has already been explained the difference between slugging, and slugging with the intention of leaving players to bleed out. You're really trolling today.

  • No. Not a chance. It's already annoying enough trying to find P3 claudettes with thick mist hiding in bushes.

  • There's things going on with the servers though. I see many people on the hook and as they get unhooked it kicks them from the game or their game crashes. It's happening too much for it to be coincidence.

  • This is so much fun as survivor. Your teammates go down in about 5-10 seconds per chase. Then killer just rushes back to hook to tunnel them over and over again. Tunnel and NOED. These same people no doubt go online to cry about DS then. Shame the rank 17s im getting put with dont have DS unlocked.

None of these survivors can hit skillchecks either. The whole game feels like a stupid farm. Do a gen, get 2 unhooks and a little chase then you’re free to die. You’re not playing for fun, you’re playing just to grind up to a rank where the game might be enjoyable.

This explains why I’ve seen so many give up on 1st hook when I play killer.

well actually we wont have to wait too long to see it if the next chapter is as broken as Oni's arrival in the game

Yeah I'm gonna hold off the first couple of days. See what players report first. It's the only way to be safe now.

  • That's not a good thing.

If a game breaking bug comes out like the basement bug are they actually going to pull the killswitch for it? who knows.

More importantly what happens if they do? people are being told they can't disconnect. If that restriction gets removed for a week due to a problem with the game, what do you think players will do with that freedom? disconnects would skyrocket and literally become a meme.

This is not well thought out. But good luck to them actually delivering an update for once that doesn't break the game in some way.

well if my game randomly crashed right now and i got a 20 minutes ban i would be mad for sure. especially after i got a 5 minutes ban because i was being funny

And this is a flaw within the system. I think 2nd is 5 mins, 3rd and 4th are 15 mins. Then it escalates from there.

If you're planning to play a lot this weekend you're guarenteed to get hit with a bug, server or game issue over the next 2 days so that puts you at 2. Best not to disconnect again or you're looking at 15 minutes. You need to factor game problems into your d/c budget.

  • It's intended. It's there to punish people for server issues and game crashes......err I mean it's there to punish disconnects.

  • Enduing, spirit fury, BBQ, NOED, Nurses, Corrupt, Pop, sloppy, thrilling tremors. Those kind of builtds. Maybe devour hope too.

  • Saloon does imply old west. Possible the killer will be from that era.

If you look up prisoners from that time it's the old stereotype of the black & white striped outfits with the ball and chain.

  • They don't care about solo players anymore. They just cave into peer pressure from killer mains on the forums and other online platforms.

  • @Moobz said:

Man, only if devs could fix there broken game instead a trolling through there forums acting like they are awesome. When i spawn in and the killer is less than 10 ft away and i get hit immediately, how is that fair eh?

Their forum is filled with whiny killer mains. Everything they have done this year aside from the Ruin change was done to please them. What do you expect?

Although that’s not said in defence of this. If you’re going to quit a game after being hit by lag you might as well quit every game because there will always be matches in any online game where the connection isn’t as smooth as it should be.

That said there are some server related issues that should have been addressed first i.e servers literally kicking people from the game giving them a disconnect penalty.

I wouldn’t worry though. When it hurts their bottom line I’m sure they’ll be backpeddling on this pretty hard.

  • In Hellraiser chains are shooting around everywhere. This is a chain slowly moving across the ground, like something is chained up. It gives off a completely different vibe.

Nobody is tossing out your statements or screaming bias. That would be you lol.

You should probably also learn to read before making assumptions on me claiming perks are “OP” as I mentioned above.

Another note, you’re crying about a perk that has more counters than not. I’m not sure what rank you play at, but solid players don’t cry about NoED because it’s very easy to get rid of.

Pre-Ruin change, nobody cried about it because it wasn’t meta. It was a useless perk that you might get a single kill from. Now that ruin changed, builds had to be altered for late game play, survivors are crying. Before you know it, every killer perk will end up as a convenience to survivors.

NoED is one of the most balanced perks in the game and very easily countered. Survivors just want a 5 minute game and 4-man escape.

"NOED is one of the most balanced perks in the game"

    This forum...😕

  • @beardedninja said:

I'm 100 percent tired of people complaining about slugging. There are perks that allow you to counter and on top of that if your non stop being downed every single game you need to learn how to loop better. I play both sides equally. I promise you survivors play more toxic then killers. Yes you will have some games where a killer camps. It's part of life. If survivors would gen rush while someone is being camped instead of crouching behind a box waiting for a miracle to happen then the killers would stop camping. They won't pip. They won't get bps

The only perk that counters it is a 1 time use.

Also interesting how killers always say "just genrush" and "bring unbreakable" yet they spend their entire time on this forum asking for genrush to be addressed and for unbreakable to be nerfed.

You can't have it both ways.

He moves at 230% speed. Everyone knows HillBilly is good at catching people out of position.

I like how everything is always the survivors fault, but being "genrushed" is never the killers fault.

  • Because everytime they fix sounds as soon as the next update comes along they break again. I guess there's not much point knowing it will last about 6-8 weeks tops 🙄

Ah, yes, because he can flick his chainsaw as much as he wants and you are forced to run in a straight line always.

The context was his catching survivors out of position. Everyone knows it's a strength of Hillbilly that he can do that.

@FlyBilly What part of "outpositioned" do you not understand?

  • @ABannedCat said:

Imagine complaining about a killer that gets looped like everyone else. If you get caught outpositioned, thats on you, not the killer.

  • This is why DS and BT are as strong as they are. This is why I used to hate rank reset because you had to grind away from these ranks every month before you could enjoy the game, however last month everyone at red rank got matched against them anyway.

  • Slugging is fine if you slug the odd survivor. I think survivors mostly hate it when you intend to end the game by slugging. As in all 4 slugged before hook. Being slugged while you chase someone else isn't a big deal.

I turned off chat as killer. I play quite fair by survivor standards so I get a lot of ggs and sometimes I'll check and give them back but most of the time I ignore chat completely. There is a large amount of toxic shitheads that it's not worth responding to them.

Not even going to comment on what he said because it goes without saying that's wrong, but the fact that he says Huntress is the easiest killer really shows this is someone very ignorant in the game.....and ignorant in life in general.

Don’t totally disagree with you, as poor killers or incredibly pissed off ones will resort to such tactics.

However, while being tunneled and camped into the floor isn’t fun for you, being blinded over and over, infinite looped, tea bagged, or getting a flashlight squad is not fun for killers either. It’s a give and take thing.

It's not fun no. However hard tunneling stops working against red ranks. You need to pressure then and it's 4 vs 1. This is why I want them to improve, not just because its more fun for the other side but because they will do a lot better and enjoy the game too.

Also yeah toxic swf sucks. It's mostly a few clowns together that act like that rather than solos. Afterall is tbagging and griefing a killer fun if you don't have an audience/friends to witness it?

  • Do something to stop toxicity. Never gonna happen though.

Playing and getting your ass kicked against good survivors is ok. You can lose in any game. However swf running OoO, toolboxes and tbagging at every pallet and burning coldwind offerings isn't so fun.
