Self care negates the need to plan accordingly, not get caught, or rely on teammates. Bbq is a point boost that like 30% (in my experience) of the time leads to a real target.HellDescent said:Survivors can have self care, if killers can get bbq bonus

Why is bbq and chili a must have? Jw. Bp are nice but you still make more than survivors. And the aura isnt perfect. High rank survivors will avoid it, soon hide in lockers, etc. I think it's a nice, helpful perk, but not necessary.Visionmaker said:@powerbats said:
For killers wanting Hex:Ruin or BBQ they have to go through same thing and survivors wanting SC/DS/SB/AD/DH/ whatever ever perk and insert killer equivalents here. Both sides have to grind for something they want not be given it for free other wise why play if everything is given to you for free?
I think it's fair that for both sides, if something is near 100% usage, then the design needs to be looked at.
For me, I believe that aspects of BBQC and Self Care should be default. Especially BBQC since it's ######### to lock must-have perks. It appears that they decided to go the route of nerfing them instead of making them default though.
-
I think no, because you're not supposed to feel safe. If you get hit and get away, you should be in fear. Hoping to find a medkit, teammate, or use a perk slot to ensure you dont have that issue.
-
To be fair, moonlight offerings were removed due to "issues with lighting balances in maps" as per devs when asked about lighting changes, and the blind effect doesnt really HELP the killers as much as just reduces the real world physical blinding pain from a bright all white screen. But the rest is fair.powerbats said:They definitely didn't remove Moonlight Offerings to help killers,
speaking of flashlight blinding they changed it from a white screen to the new effect to help killers.

The fact that RNG is such a factor in spawn locations is silly. Very different situation if they are right beside each other or on opposite ends.what does RNG mean.
Random number generation.
Basically just when success in games is affected by luck rather then skill. Other examples are escaping Freddys dreamworld and removing the Pigs traps.
The more RNG the less competitive the game.
But yes, RNG sucks with gates because they're either so far apart the killer gets juggled sometimes between the both with 4 escapes, or they're both within eyesight and the survivors are hard pressed. Usually not an issue, but I agree that rng holds a lot of weight when trying to balance things like this. -
I think the main logic is you're mending a DEEP WOUND. As in a gash, deep stab, etc. Something that would and should require medical aid. Which is what nurses calling sees.The_Crusader said:Its probably because you can snap out at any time that is convinient to you.
Whereas with mending you have a timer in which to get it done or else you're down. It would be very easy for legion to keep finding you otherwise.
But they balanced it around how you said, and it doesnt logically/lore wise make sense to people. -
Honestly, I hate freddy as a survivor because I cant see him, and hate him as a killer because I cant prevent a lot of trickery. However he is very fun to play, and hes currently the one I'm pouring bp into so hes at least able to get a kill or two consistently. But hes so entertaining to see people scatter, and his glove is so cool you cant NOT play freddy and have a good time.PhantomMask20763 said:Exactly, however they need to be powerful enough to keep up with all 4 survivors because if not they'll get destroyed. I main Freddy and he's considered the weakest killer in the game but I main him because I have fun playing as hin you know. Same with Pig, i love playing her.
That said, I've seen some terrible freddy's like me, and have been STOMPED by some high rank ones. Is he top tier killer? Nah. Is he fun and worth the time? Absolutely. -
Dedicated servers wouldnt fix all the problems, and would likely cause more, let alone seeing EVERYONE lag switch.

I'd rather have none of those ez cheese strats be the strongest tools available. Playing a close, fun game is what dbd should become. Not "Camping is legit, just rush gens next time. Facecamp is counterable" yada yada its boring -
Camping is fair. Because the camper has no skill at that point other than securing 1k. The others can do work and win. I had a game last night with a friend and 2 randoms. He camped me while they did all the gens and then he was SO FLUSTERED they managed to get me off and we all escaped.
Canping sucks, but it's fair because it essentially guarantees 3 escapes if the survivors arent overly altruistic and just do work. -
Ahhhh. Lol I wasnt trykng to start anything, was just wondering about the hostility.
-
I play survivor. And a lot with a friend. But we dont share post game screens....we figure out the build while playing or suffer.
Having to sit for an extra 5/10 mins after I get camped out in a solo game because I want to see what the unknown perks, or what addons they ran were, because they're hidden to hide this "seal team six swf coordination" is a little....much.
I mean, if they hook someone and come right over, its bbq, if it's a red skill check, ruin. "Oh, but what about noed? Hmm?" Well, do what smart people do and just break the ######### dull totems you see. Maybe hold off a gen and find one. At least one.
It would make people feel better about "not having them know" but there would still be JUST as much complaining about swf as ever. Because it's not about the load out as much as this "uber coordination squad" you all fear. -

Also, to all these "this games trash not gonna spend money until they change" sounds pretty entitled to me. It's a game ffs not Congress. Theyve put out great content, and on one little TEST the community acts like they're completely incompetent #########.
Like, it's a ptb, and the feedback has already been terrible. So why assume they're not gonna make changes? And if they dont, how about just idk, skip this killer everyone thinks is trash, and continue to play the game without berating the developers? -
Have to have a chance to have fun? Nah I can actually enjoy the characters and game regardless of 0/4k. It's a game. Have fun or why play?The_Crusader said:The problem is Legion won't be fun.
Is it fun using Legion to vault pallets then slash multiple survivors? Yes.
However how much fun do you think the person will be having when they try to down that survivor and they're basically a huntress without hatchets? Ever tried using huntress without hatchets on the most painful loops of the game? Its not very fun at all.
You can't pretend everything will be ok at low rank either due to 1) SWF groups always bring a high rank or two with them. These people will loop the killer endlessly and 2) Due to rank reset and veterans of the game not playing as often you can still get highly skilled players at rank 15.
We've all been there starting out. Looped all game by someone with 2000+ hours on the game when we're only just starting out. It's incredibly frustrating and it almost made me quit the game.
You can lose and have fun because you enjoyed the game. Going against a good team and 2 hooking everyone probably won't net you a 4k but everyone had fun.
However to have fun you have to feel like you're in with a chance. Feeling like you can never catch survviors because your killer isn't viable or feeling like you're overpowered gets rid of the fun for killer players.
Not every killer has to be Nurse or Billy tier. In fact I think those two killers feel cheap. A high tier killer though? Thats not too much to ask for. Just make it so that the person feels he had a fair chance at winning.
I do think they prioritize fun too much sometimes. I.e. Decisive strike. Would be it be fun and cool as a survivor if you could strike a killer and escale them? Yes. However well done you've now just unbalanced the game and ruined the fun for killers.
Look at other videogames out there. Take Starcraft as an example - its been played for decades now. The balance is what makes it fun. It didn't need Decisive Strike or NOED or Moris or skeleton keys to make it fun. It didn't need any crazy stuff. The balance is what kept people coming back to it. The same could be said for a number of other competitive multiplayer games out there.
I think they want DBD to be that crazy game where anything can happen. Something they said in the last dev stream kinda confirmed this. I have to admit it is appealing in a way. We all have a crazy story about when things looked like they were hopeless snd then someone pulls out a key and all survivors escape, or someone activates Haunted Grounds then the entire team goes down. I get that and it is funny but sometimes I feel it goed a bit too far.
-
The change ADDS no incentive at all. It simply increases the chances that when running bbq, you wont see anyone. Thus people assume it will mean more camping.The_Crusader said:BBQ can be tough especially on Hillbilly. Nothing worse than seeing someone hooked snd you have nowhere to hide then a few seconds later he comes rushing over. A lot of Leatherfaces use it too.
But you know what's scarier than a hillybilly or leatherface wbo comes right for you with BBQ & Chilli?
A hillbilly or leatherface who camps.
I know which one I'd rather face as a survivor any day of the week.
No it wont stop campers being campers but at least it adds some incentive and guidance to get people away from hooks so everyone can have fun. -

BBQ was so widely used cause it didn't give a drawback like Distressing does (Unless you're playing Doc, Nurse, or Huntress to some degree).
Why should a perk give a drawback at all?
Is there any survivor perk giving a drawback (beside No Mither)?
Let's talk about the most used survivor perks:
What's the drawback of SC, SB, DS, BT??Okay, I'll bite. Self care heals twice as slow. Sprint Burst only lasts a few seconds and requires walking around the map to avoid triggering it. Decisive Strike requires completing a difficult skill check or does nothing at all and can only be used once per game. Borrowed Time does nothing at all for the player running the perk.
Every perk in the game has an opportunity cost as well. For killers and survivors. If I'm running Self Care, Sprint Burst, Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time guess what I'm not running? Literally every other perk! That means I'm not running Small Game to find Ruin or whatever hex perk the killer maybe running or ensuring NOED doesn't come online. That means I'm not running the various stealth perks like Calm Spirit, Iron Will, Urban Evasion, etc to avoid being found in the first place. That means I'm not running WGLF for the bonus blood points. Etc, etc, etc.
SC has NO drawback. Because it uses up 32 seconds of the survivors time. Without SC it would take 2 survivor healing for 16 seconds. That basically the same, with the bonus that you do not need to search for and find a teammate. So no drawback there, just because of the time is needs.
SB, ok, the walking everywhere to keep it is kind of a drawback, but otherwise you do not leave scratchmarks, so that is a pretty small drawback.
DS has NO drawback, just a "requirement", maybe call it a risk, but is not qualified as a "drawback".
BT also NO drawback, because you know in advance that you pick perks like BT or Well make it to support your team, because a living team is helpful for MY escape. So no, still No Mither is the only survivor perk with a drawback. So that is not a core principle about perks. Perks are just meant to be straight advantages.

Exactly. The fact that Insidious and Dying Light exists baffles me. Such terrible perks. A shame really, especially since perks like Thanatophobia, that actually encourage not to camp and not to tunnel, are so bad.
Regardless, people are gonna camp/tunnel/ whatever is effective given the survivors in play. As long as it's not exploits or hacking, who cares. They paid for the game same as you. -

How would it be OP if he still gets stunned after frenzy? It only mitigates the fact he CANT down people. If hes that weak, that change shouldnt matter. Especially with people crying about his 110%. i doubt this killer will ever get that. and i doubt this killer will ever be stronger than mid tier.
If making deep wounds not tick down in chases is all that makes him op, then imo hes not as weak as people are saying. If he could come out of frenzy and still chase with deep wounds ticking (making it op), why couldnt he achieve the same results with it not moving? None of it would affect his movement or frenzy stun. -
But its Borrowed Time, not indefinite time. The fact you get hit and dont go down immediately is a blessing. Having it give you free time until you get hit a second time, or looping forever will only cause more killers to complain, and more survivors to farm with WGLF because "well I got you off the hook, now it's up to you to loop them, you got all the time now".twistedmonkey said:@yeet said:
when survivors are still the stronger side, they don't deserve buffs to already extremely powerful perks
Survivors being stronger is subective to the person playing killer/survivors.
BT was a decent perk but not great and highly situational, the fact that once unhooked the player could just be followed until they dropped made it only really strong when the exit gates were powered, nothing has changed as you still need to hit them and they are down, if near the gates you were screwed anyway, if far from the gates well you have longer to get them, any other time in game it was more of a slight time waster, its pretty much like the NOED change to all tiers, it happened as the perks main reason for being wasnt that great.

and yet, the community seems to expect that person should now dangle from the hook for 2 minutes of absolute boredom or completely screw the remaining survivors over.
just seems like a bad game mechanic to me.
Yeah it sucks to be first caught, but if you're first caught, and even halfway decent at running, your team can do 2/3 gens before you're even on the hook. If not, you being chased, downed, walked, hooked, and CAMPED, gives then plenty of time to basically get all the work done.
Someone has to get caught first. If you, and they camp, then all you can do is buy your teammates time to make them learn from their camping. Period.
But when survivors rush a camping LF, it makes it hard to argue that camping ISNT viable for 3/4k. Stupid survivors make stupid tactics stupid easy to use. And I play both sides. -
