Then they failed at their task. DBD can afford to hold off on quarterly DLC chapters now that they have their battelpass which requires nothing on the part of the devs as far as balancing goes.
R6 also has decent code. DBD does not.
The battlepass was EXTRA money. They didnt ever need it to survive. They wont turn away their main revenue stream. It draws in new players, and they LOVE new players.
-
Ya know why DC penalties are a thing?
Because people cant handle a loss, ragequit, and then ######### over their teammates.
-
Well, I had a game where I rushed nonstop and ended chases in under 45 seconds and they all escaped. Gens are too fast.
Before anyone says its ONE GAME, this thread is using ONE GAME.
See how that sounds?
-
I mean, if you want to do poorly every game and get gen rushed for it, go ahead. The survivors will love you. At least the competent ones that dont hook rush will.
-
Because he survived the attack from amanda? Slashed his throat. He lived and wanted to know who was behind the mask. And she was our killer...so...
Having him in game only feeds this need more.
Plus its DANNY MOTHERFUCKING GLOVER.

So broken!
That's not billy, that's just windows. You can run vault through, take 2 steps and still get hit.

Better they kill themselves on hook so I get my pop goes / emblem instead of DCing so I get nothing.
Or bbq stack.

Honestly, I think 1 min should be first. 5 isnt terrible, but the next jump is what, 10/15?
The first DC should always be assumed to be an accident. Lag, net, bugs, etc. After that it's a you problem.
I still think 5 isnt terrible, but it should start at 1, 5, 15, 30, hour, 3 hour, day, 3 day, week, kind of system.
Multiple issues or crashes would suck, but not be unable to play all week. You should also know that if you're having issues, and may DC, that it is possible you will have a higher timer, aka fix your ######### before you play again, or take a break, knowing that you are putting yourself in the position to be DC banned.

Without a doubt. Fixing a game doesn’t generate immediate revenue
Or implimented by the same teams every time.
Or let's not forget that if they didn't release chapters for 6 months, fixed bugs, then released one, there would STILL be new bugs. Its spaghetti code.
They need to fix bugs, but neglecting new content (aka revenue) isnt going to happen. Even if it did, theres no guarantee it would work.
Look up operation health for R6. They did that. And ended up with just as many issues as whens they started it. Just no new content to carry people through the bullshit.

@Mert_MK said:
Nothing will be fixed.
Survivors will kill themselves on hook instead or go afk, same with Killers.
Both sides are gonna try their hardest to make the match unfun for the other side. While penalties were active, my friend got slugged and teabagged by a Pig until he bleed out, killer even admit he did that because he's aware he can't dc without a penalty now.
And when i played Killer i had a SWF last second switch to toolboxes and bring a Strode Key.
Should have looked into why people DC in the first place and fix the ######### game. This is going to kill the game.
Its not going to kill the game. At all.
They don't always DC when you think. I've had 3 survivors dc one after another, all healthy but the first got downed, and all THREE dcd. Leaving me alone with 4 gens to do.
DC penalties NEED to exist.
Should they fix the rest? Absolutely. But letting people DC whenever they want to spite someone or give instant hatch (which still wont be fixed entirely) needs to stop. Or they will do it every game.
-
@Bob32544523 said:
swf who dc to give hatch are mad lol.
Eh, not really. I doubt they do that EVERY game, so doing it once for a minute penalty every 5/10 games wont affect them.

The amount of times I've been called a SWF while playing solo queue for just doing something even remotely skillful like a flashlight save is really appalling.
Is it really that hard to believe you've made a mistake and to adapt for the future when you lost as a top tier killer? (Not talking about the mid and low tier bois, you guys need some love).
Blaming SWF just seems to be a dumb blanket statement to validate yourself and every decision you made that match. (Especially when it was solo queue and you were a Nurse at green ranks lol).
Not saying Survivors don't do the same when they lose, but this happened to be my most recent experience on DbD.
Why are people so allergic to wanting to improve?
People are allergic to wanting to learn, because that means they would first have to admit their shortcomings and accept that they made mistakes. Most people (especially on here it seems) refuse to do so.
I LOVE watching recorded games that I thought was just top tier destruction, only to realize I made quite a few bad calls in the moment.
Watching losing games isnt as common, but it still helps to think back and figure out where you went wrong.
I also feel like too many people leave match as soon as THEY are sacrificed, instead of watching the others and learning from them.

Like you said, the first few are very short. So even if you crash a 3rd time, the penalty is like 10 minutes.
The point is DCs are WAY more common than crashes. Penalties need to exist.
Exactly. Net issues, bugs, dcs, wont give you an hour penalty unless you keep putting yourself in the situation where it's possible.
However letting people DC to avoid or screw over whatever, needs to have a penalty, or they will do it game after game.

Oh then clearly you don't know this game
You have people who hold the game hostage on Thompson House, bugs, crashing
It will be more than 5 minutes
I'm well aware of how this game works. I've been playing for almost 3 years. (Check my forum creation date, it's well after I began playing)
I know what happens. And what is possible. If I get held hostage (which is extremely rare these days) I watch youtube and report post game. Not hard.
My game rarely crashes, but when it does, I play something else for a while. DBD isnt life.
I said wait 5 mins AFTER dcing (which I dont do, as I told you what I do when rarely held hostage) or being kicked to restart.
It's not hard. And if your game (because mine doesnt) crashes MULTIPLE times a day or session, try reinstalling, or playing something else for a bit until those issues are resolved.
It's like going to a roller coaster that says "closed due to possible failure" and suing them when the ride breaks. You KNEW it was a possibility, regardless of how it shouldnt be an issue to begin with.
-
@Hoodied said:
Yeah, now the game crashing will be great as thats considered a DC
So wait 5 mins and play again.
Or dont play. If its buggy, and you play and get dcd, you went into it KNOWING it was possible.
Yes they should fix the bugs causing DCs, but going into it knowingly as a possibility then bitching about it happening seems childish.
-
At the worst, you could report for griefing, but they said that requires multiple games and targeting you to be an actual example of it.
Does it suck to have to wait 7 mins to die instead of 4? Yeah.
Is it bannable? Not really. The game will still end. If anything, dont be butthurt about it, laugh. Because all it says is they dont get enough kills, or are so PISSED at you they feel like they're in power by doing it. It takes a sad, failing killer to mori spam.
-
Yeah it absolutely needs fixes, but I doubt focusing on them and ignoring all content is going to help more than what they're already doing is.
Yes, we may avoid a random bug or two from when the content launches, but when new content DOES eventually launch, we still can have those bugs. The game is made with spaghetti code, something always breaks.
Unless they completely rewrote the game, I dont think simply neglecting cosmetics and fixing bugs would be a long term fix. The same issues would inevitably be back, in some way.
Connection issues, sound bugs, etc.

Something that NOBODY HAS DEBATED.
I know that I have radical ideas, and that my observed opinions will differ wildly from other people. It's fine. People are entitled to their opinion.

Well, yes. Because A) I'm on Xbox, so I can't get my recordings. Or have commentary to go with it B) Matchmaking is broken as and I haven't played killer for a full reset after it happened and C) I don't have an account to upload to.
All I will say is this, you don't have to believe me, but know that I am telling the truth here. I played a game as Billy on Yamaoka Estate. I got done badly. No kills. I had zero clue about Hillbilly's power and my perks were all chase. I know I had Enduring/Fury, but I forget what else. They were also higher purple, to my then low green. SWF. And super toxic.
I played another game, a day later. Coldwind Farm, aka Cornfield City. Small perk swaps for limited tracking to lead to a chase. I dominated, and I dominated HARD. Baiting pallets, that lead into chainsaws, one lucky sprint down, better curving. Easy 4k, and they were all my rank and randoms. They didn't play bad. I had zero tunnelling or camping.
What mechanical differences were there? I curved better because I had a slightly better understanding of his power. Same sprints for ground cover. Same basic attacks in jungle gyms. Same chainsaw bait.
Just better mind-games. THAT was the biggest part. And not versing sweaty SWF. If I can pick up a killer and start doing well after one bad game, and please note, I'm a STEALTH killer main, with limited Spirit play, then Hillbilly is a very easy killer to play.
I played a few more games, just to make sure. Same thing at my ranks. Easy 4k. Very little mechanical play. Sprint and hit.
Takes 5 mins to make a twitch account. Or YouTube. And I'm pretty sure xbox can stream or upload directly to those.

@anarchy753 said:
It's ok, you'll never get a genuine response out of people about Hillbilly.
They've had the mantra of "most balanced killer in the game" drilled into them by an echo chamber of youtubers and twitcheys that steamroll with him every match, because they don't want easy mode nerfed.
They also want to feel good about themselves, so pretend that he takes some unfathomable skill to move your mouse to the left or right.
Any tool can jump on Hillbilly and perform far better than most other killers in the roster. His power provides too much advantage at 0 drawback. His add ons take away the small amount of skill requirement (easier steering) while also making him completely broken (insanely fast charge up.) He simply does not fit with the balance of every other killer where high mobility comes at some form of cost, usually lower base movement speed.
People like to get their right hand lubed up and say they can magically beat Billy by looping and that 110 speed would somehow kill him off. Sure, maybe a baby Billy. Every other killer that has the insane mobility he has moves at 110 does just fine, Hag doesn't get 100% of hits from teleports, and comparatively, all the other 115 speed killers are expected to get ALL their hits in basic chases and don't have cross map mobility on top of a one shot.
The extent of "outplaying" a Billy comes down to guessing the coin toss of 'does he go left or right?'
No beating billy comes down to making him turn the wrong way, knowing how and where to loop, when to use a pallet against him or bait his saw, when to not be altruistic and let him snowball, when to hide or not when you HEAR the saw, and a few other things.
But I guess those wouldnt fit your narrative of "billy is a 50/50 braindead killer with no skill".

I have neither.
Fair enough. R6 tried an operation health. Where they did just that. Focus on bug fixes and balancing, and held off on new operators and maps.
It solved, SOME issues, but overall accomplished almost nothing. There were still bugs, multiple balance issues, etc, just as usual, except now with no new content.
The concept seems like a good idea, but it doesnt always just work out.

Because one of two things always happens:
The killer tunnels them and they are out of the game super early (or they DC).
OR
They hide all game and do nothing.
Sometimes you'll see a No Mither teammate who actually tries, but usually, they are largely useless.
So again, they're mad at the player, not the side or perk.
DC type or useless type.
Yet still everyone forgets that the useful type DOES exist. We just see an influx of bad users now going for the challenge.

Sometimes, even if the killer or any other survivor doesn't use an obsession perk, there will still be an obsession
Not true. I've been in games with no obsession. SOMEONE has an obsession perk. Even if it's the random w DS that never got used.

Well if you're the obsession, and notice the killer EVERY TIME A GEN COMPLETES and you're NOT running dark sense. It's a pretty ######### good indicator that rancor exists.
Hide in locker for 10 seconds before/after last gen pops. Boom.

Tired of getting DS'd? Here's an idea..."Stop Tunneling and Git Gud".
I mean hell, they might have all gotten away... But at least you got Brutal Killer and not Entity Displeased. You could have gotten 1 or 2 of them, but you got greedy and lost all 4. You took a risk, and you lost. Learn from it and move on.
(Perhaps after Steve escaped/you hooked the second survivor/downed the third, you should have left the third on the ground and chased down 4th. The one on the ground may have crawled out the exit, but you could have possibly prevented that last Survivor from unhooking the other. Either way, you take a risk. It's up to you to analyze the situation and decide the best course of action.
Honestly. Slugging 3 and going for 4 is what I thought should have been done as well. The crawler may get out or may stay and f up trying to bait DS. But go for the 2 at that point with doors open.
Still, 3 DS back to back shouldnt be that feasible.

Camping, tunneling, and moring off hook after continuous back to back games then bragging that you’re a good killer and that’s your as a killer playstyle I want no part of it and truly you are dogcrap. if you find enjoyment in ruining others gaming experience I will block you. I play for fun and I play for bloodpoints I don’t care if I die or escape. I will not be denied making at least 17-20k+ bloodpoints. I refuse to die with just 9k or least bloodpoints because the killer wants to be a jerk. it’s unfair as a killer can make more bloodpoints easier than a survivor.
If you dont care if you die or escape, and want to play your game, why berate others for the same thing. The killer is playing their game. And if it involves moris and camping, yet you DONT MIND DYING, I dont see the issue here.

Looks like you're arguing for the sake of arguing, as your point is based purely on semantics and wording, but I'll oblige anyways.
You're not correct. RNG links each trap to a jigsaw box at the start of the match. Neither the pig nor the survivor knows what box each trap is linked to. It would be in the survivor's hands to pick the right box (or in the killer's hands to pick the right time to trap a survivor based on their location) if they had a hint or a clue as to which box contains their key. They don't. Survivors can choose their pathing in order to be able to go through all 4 (or 5) boxes in the quickest amount of time, but that has no impact on whether they'll "choose" the correct one on their first, second, third, fourth or fifth attempt.
Going back to my point in this scenario RNG can work both in the killer's or the survivor's favour.
So you disregarded what I said.
Read again. The only RNG is when placing the key. Removing the trap is not RNG. Ot has already been decided which box has a key.
I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing, I'm sick of seeing people say pig traps are RNG removal when they're not, and the devs have said so.
It is choice, and probability. Not a 1/5 chance every time you attempt ANY box. Theres a difference.

You sound privileged. Honestly, even if you guys only get one guy that should be enough, you’re not looking at it from a standpoint that survivors should be able to actually survive Without needing all 4 to do it. 4/5 people in each lobby don’t want to come in and get slain. 2nd hook insta kills is a thing. Invisibility is a thing. No heartbeat is a thing. Killers can be really efficient. Too efficient. It’s just not fun. Doctor running around making everyone go insane giving up their position because he just has to push a button unless someone’s running calm spirit? A perk that’s specific to ONE character? That’s ridiculous. More nerfs please . How do you think the average survivor that has to plan guinea pig feels playing decoy for the killer to die and get hook camped until 2nd stage hits and insta killed without being able to struggle? Then gets the boot with 5K bloodpoints to show for it. 😔 this is what I spent money on? Privileged killers complaining about not being able to slay all 4 every game? Gens should be done faster if killers are hook camping. Give em a speed boost. That’ll teach them. It’s ridiculous. Someone’s always bound to get caught at some point so why give them just 1 stage to wait out and then insta killed 2nd stage of sacrifice? Frustrating sometimes as a survivor. Really is
Calm spirit also helps with clown gas and iron maiden. So it's not exclusive to JUST doctor.

Fair enough. By RNG I didn't necessarily mean totem spawns or map sizes. One example where RNG can favour survivors or killers is tile and pallet spawns.
- Certain maps sometimes spawn specific tiles right next to each other where a survivor can loop the killer almost indefinitely without even having to drop a single pallet. E.g. long wall jungle gym connected to cow tree connected to TL walls with a filler pallet in between.
- Certain maps also are able to spawn complete dead zones with gens in them where if a killer goes after a survivor they are getting a hit before said survivor gets to a pallet no matter what
There are many other examples (survivor/killer spawn locations, perk loadouts, latency, bugs, pig's traps and so on), but I don't want to make this post too long, so I'll leave it at this. If you do want more examples where RNG favours killers specifically, I'll oblige.
Pigs traps are not RNG. Only placing a key is. Once you have a trap on, RNG does nothing. Its survivor choice. Literally in their hands if they pick right or not.

But again, since nobody understands: THE TOMES AND THEIR LORE/REWARDS ARE NEVER GONE.

@Ev13698324 said:
A while back they changed this so it was no longer a thing, then they added it back (accidentally I assume).
Now, it seems even worse than before, autoswing easily locking onto it and sometimes directly hitting a survivor will somehow hit the unhooked person, causing no damage and costing you the match.
Survivors have also figured out an unbeatable strategy, hiding within the hooked survivor. Once there, the killer cannot hit you, and if he tries, he'll hit the hooked survivor, allowing for an easy rescue during his cleaning animation.
I just want this to be removed already, so killers can no longer bm survivors, so autoswing can stop being annoying and so survivors can no longer abuse the mechanic.
You have two survivors at one hook. Seems like it's in your favor to me.

That would be true - if you hadn't paid for *the specific things* in question. If it was a matter of "I bought the game and this character was in the game, and they removed it", yeah, it would be shady, but it would be legally fine. However, in the case of DLC characters, where you for their license specifically, it's a bit more of a sticky road for them to go down, and like I said, EU consumer protection laws would hang BHVR for it, if they tried.
You can still play that character. Even if theyve been changed from dwight to barney the dinosaur. Would people be upset? Of course. But you're paying them to play the game as long as the license is good. Not have control over what's in the game. On top of that, most ToU say in some way, you're renting or leasing the game, with the license, which can be revoked or ended.
-
@Cheers said:
On console this is a problem because the survivors can usually turn quicker than the killer at full sensitivity. PC should be fine, though.

They bait the camera turn, but dont ever expect the sidestep smack.

Legally, even in the US, if you buy a digital game, you own the license to play that game. It's not a rental. Besides, they'd never get away with it anyway based on the fact that they chose to release this game in the EU, who would never allow them to get rid of purchased content with no compensation.
You iwn the license to play the game. Not prevent the developers from changing what that game is or contains. They can make it a sims clone, and as long as you still own the right to play it, you cant take legal action for them changing the game. You dont own a hand in its creation, just its use.

It's been a slug for the 4k affair ever since the EGC was brought online. There isn't much else one can do, unless they want to play Hatch Scramble. And some killers need that 4K for the pip, not that pips matter much anymore. Unbreakable is a beauty though, and has been popping off in almost every one of my matches, no matter which side of the killing I am on.
People did that before, too. To avoid the hatch standoff. Dont they and blame the EGC for doing its job of preventing 45 mins of staring. Lol.
