  • Depends on your goals and your definitions.

I don't start out that aggressive. I start a game planning on killing everyone by hooking them three times. I think that's nice. When players are inexperienced, I'll go easy on them because stomping them doesn't feel fun. I try to make the game scary for them while still giving them a chance. I like giving hatch, it's both nice and a flex showing I own that map. I don't want players leaving the match hating the game, quite the opposite, I want it to be exciting. That's my job, without me it's a gen-repair simulator.

To be clear, I like to let everyone play and have a good time, but I get mad when people act like I have to. I don't owe you #########, I'll play however I want. If you don't like it, run. I'm the killer.

Also I like to play nice because that gives me a place to go when someone wants to piss me off. There's nothing sweeter than playing chill and then stomping the ######### out of someone that didn't appreciate my chill. Going from 65 to 100 on a fool is awesome. You go to prison for that ######### in real life, in DBD I get points for it. ######### genius.

So there are reasons to be nice, but I think this game would be boring if everyone played the same. I love it when a survivor is doing some ######### plays. I love it when they try to piss me off. It's fun when it's personal.

Ultimately, I play nice because I am nice. I don't want to ruin anyone's time, it's a game and I'm glad others are willing to let me try to kill them.

But I play how I want, if you don't like it, run.

  • It would be cool if it regressed after a bit, just to add some excitement.

First of all, I have an idea for fixing killers that slug as it’s not intended gameplay, by allowing survivors to get into a locker while in the downed state, to be able to pick themselves up. (Balancing it: maybe the survivor got to recover to 95%, before they can jump in. )

Secondly, Survivors that get faced camped by killers should be awarded Blood point based on terror radius, because one you’re distracting the killer and two there’s nothing worst than getting into a match and straight off the bat, get in a chase, for 1-5 minutes go down, and than get face camped, The survivor is obviously seen as a threat and should be rewarded for being good.

Thirdly, building pallets obviously has to be a perk but let me explain as it would be on a fine line of being broken, a survivor would spend a short period collecting used/broken pallet pieces, collect enough pieces (maybe 5 or 6), and the survivor could build an additional pallet anywhere a broken pallet is.

Lastly, tier 4 perks which every killer and survivor will only have 3, being they’re own perks, no ones better at what they do but them, giving every survivor a uniqueness to them. For e.g Meg’s T4 sprint burst would be no more than 5% better across the board (faster, longer, Cool-down reduction, etc) this would make perk builds on certain survivor and killers specialised. This would add a little bit of flavour and bring some non played killers and survivors back into the mix because everyone likes an edge. Now about unlocking the t4 would be in the blood web after Lvl 45 it would start spawning randomly.

These are my suggestion, tell me what you think, agree on, disagree on, or if you like it but the balancing is off let me know.

When did the devs decide slugging wasn't "intended"? Seems like the rules say otherwise, so it feels like you're just making ######### up. Slugging and letting survivors bleed out is crappy sportsmanship and ######### behavior, but IT'S NOT AGAINST THE RULES. They didn't accidentally put it in the game, the killers didn't mod the game to add these mechanics, the devs did.

    Read the rules. Just once.

  • Or he'd play more if he felt he was accomplishing.

I often lose interest right after an event, because the points feel too few.

  • So you're seriously arguing that only Spirits use stridor?

  • Killers have more power to be toxic in-game, but survivors are exponentially more toxic when it comes to behavior.

    @adirgeforthedead said:

Both sides are nearly a match in terms of toxicity. I usually tend to play with friends because more often than whatnot random players I'm paired with tend to grief me and make the game insufferable.

I run the Killer for one or two generators, they do not catch up onto me and drop chase to follow someone else whom they catch onto, I rescue and heal the Survivor in question only for the Killer to drop chase on me later on and chase the previous Survivor again... completely my fault obviously. I had a player argue that to me as the reason why they sandbagged me at the end of a match because "I only hid" even though the Killer did not commit to chases with me because they couldn't catch me. Although I did two generators all by myself and I died on first hook at the end while the Killer gave hatch to the person who sandbagged me (and I made more points than them).

Then, we have that meme that has been circulating about Killer mains who say that people who don't camp or tunnel are newbies that don't know how to play "efficiently". You'll find a lot of people who are just utter negative and horrible in this community... some may be unintentional, but the truth is that all communities will breed this kind of hatred, but I like to believe the good are more than the bad.

They can't really be a match in terms of toxicity, there are 4 survivors in every trial, only one killer. If 25% of players are toxic, then survivors will encounter it 1/4 of trials, killers will statistically encounter it every match.

Thing is I mostly play survivor because killer seems like a lot of pressure unless you have the killer you want to play at level 50 and know how they work. Survivor bloodpoint gains SUCK but there are no places for me to practice killer abilities so I usually waited for events like these to pop up for extra BP.

Sometimes you just have to log on and decide "I'm going to lose every match until I figure out how to use this killer/power/perk/whatever. Try to give the survivors a decent match, but just learn what you're trying to learn.

Remember, a killer gets 8k for a loss, just do what you need to do. If anything, you're giving the survivors a chance to do the same, maybe even get a new experience out of it.

  • Lets just hope it works this time, that challenge was broken and left unfixed for months on several earlier tomes.

  • All my Legion Bleedout downs have been like, why?

It's never someone I'm pressuring, it's someone behind a bush or in the upstairs of a house while I'm chasing someone else. Just immersed and bleeding. At least one bled out while working gens.

  • This would also be fun. I know it doesn't sound like loads of fun, but gamers like selling things in games, look at every RPG ever.

i would have reported them not attacking the other three for unsportsmanlike

    The killer has free will.

  • If trials cancelled when a survivor DCs, there would never be another completed trial, ever.

  • @Ruma said:

I kill the survivors who sandbag or snitch on their mates.

Same here. Killing bad people is more fun.

  • @TacitusKilgore said:

I feel like NOED is a bit of an overblown non issue. Its more often than not, a very temporary bandaid to a match already lost. If you're lucky, you get an extra kill or two. If you're not, you get maybe 1 or 2 downs and its gone, if you even get any downs at all. A lot of killers who run the perk also aren't very great at the game, making the perk even less threatening since its often used by inexperienced hands.

I think it hurts your game. NOED means survivors GTFO. Securing a kill with an end-game hook is pretty common, NOED means that's all you get because everyone else leaves. If you want survivors to risk their secured escape to attempt rescue, don't make it scarier, make it enticing.

  • I don't get mad, but I do try to take advantage of their cockiness. These players always swarm the hook, Bubba likes that.

  • When you're stressing, remind yourself it doesn't matter at all. Our queue is quick, no matter how a game goes, you can be in another match in just a few minutes. Do your best.

Last night I had a great match with 0 kills. Everyone was hooked twice, we fought for everything, no one had time to teabag, everyone was hustling. We fought at the gens, we fought at the hooks, we fought at the gates. Lots of fun.

There's no win condition, but I consider no kills a loss, but the BP (even before bonuses) was higher than many 4k's. We had fun.

If you're playing against a team that wants to make sure you don't have fun, be as evil as possible. Camp, tunnel and facecamp, being evil is also fun. I like playing against ass holes because the gloves can come off.

None of it matters at all.

  • How does a person run out of things to spend bp on? I have all the perks unlocked, all my favorite killers are PIII+, but four times a year a new killer comes out, that's more perks to unlock then then buy for everyone.

And even when that's all done, don't you need to replenish your favorite add-ons? My Bubba doesn't use addons except for BP offerings, but I still have to burn webs to stock up. Bubba likes cakes and bloody party streamers.

Yeah, I guess I am spending lots of BP to get BP, but it gives me a reason to grind. When you get close to a mil, do some shopping.

You're not wrong, it is pointless.

That isn't the reason for most players. Doing this means that survivor gets to have a miserable game for no reason. They didn't do anything to warrant not getting to play the match for more than a couple minutes.

I get that (for some reason) people take this game seriously and want to do absolutely anything to win, but that just makes the game miserable for everybody. The other survivors don't get to have fun being chased and are stuck being M1 bots and the person you tunnel just gets taken out of the game without a break or having any actual fun or a solid chance at a chase, unless they have a good set up.

It isn't about "trying to make sure killers never play optimally for easy wins". It's about making sure everybody gets to enjoy the game.

So DBD is like little league, where it's a requirement that everyone get field time every game?

And this responsibility falls on the killer? Not the game, not the other survivors, it's the KILLER that is expected to manage the expectations all all their opponents. Once that's handled, are we then allowed to compete?

The game is M rated, an adult that's put out early should be able to just jump in queue for another match, without a participation trophy or a tantrum.

Okay I'll never prestige than since it's clearly not worth doing at all.

It's worth it (to me) on licensed killers since they get way fewer cosmetics, but then only if I like the bloody gear.

If you're on the fence, it's best to do it before you pump another million bp into them. Don't get every perk for them and then P, take the cheapest route through the web, get them to 50, burn through your reward offerings and then Prestige. Repeat until you're covered in gore, then buy everything knowing you'll never have to buy it for them again.

The harsh part isn't the points, it's getting back that perk you were so used to, there's always one that torments you. That's also a benefit, playing your main with different perks can teach you a lot.

    Very little value... I didn't even think about his Terror radius size ;_;

Thank you for pointing that out! Maybe I will replace it with a slow down perk or maybe Discordance

Try Sloppy Butcher if you M1 a lot.

  • @Dangle03 said:

since survivors are all the same at their core, people would always just use the character with the easiest pig challenge

So every survivor player would always play the same character in fear of Pig? I find that unlikely.

  • I don't play survivor, but I'd buy Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon just to have them.

  • If you don't have BBQ&C, Leatherface.

    If you do, still Leatherface.

  • Instead of needing 8-10 seconds of invulnerability, you could just try to escape the killer in chase. Learn some basic skills and you won't need everything to be handed to you.

  • Anytime survivors have to work together or do anything challenging: This is impossible!

  • NOED gets me one kill during endgame, which I usually get anyway. The problem is, with NOED the other survivors usually just GTFO without trying to save, without it I can often turn my endgame hook into more.

  • Playing Nurse is essentially a different game mode. If that's all you do, it won't seem hard because you learn. What makes it hard is that other killer skills don't carry over. I can't chase/M1 with nurse like I can with any other killer, I either learn to use her power well or lose.

But if I played any killer for 3 weeks, I'd get way better at them. Even so, Nurse takes a lot skill and is easy to fail on.

  • Can you give more details? What were you running that EAC didn't like?

  • This game is based on horror movies, not everyone gets to survive.

  • Only Bubba.

He's not evil, he does what he's been taught to do, he does what he's told. He's no more evil than a farmer slaughtering a bull. He's innocent in a way, because he's not capable of understanding. He's (mentally) a child doing what his abusive family taught him, that's all. Bubba is frantic because he's afraid. He enjoys the slaughter, but it's fear that drives him.

The Entity replaced his family and probably treats him like he's loved, but if he were to see the survivors as family instead of meat, he'd fight to protect them, because that's all he understands.

  • I'm one of the players that's been having the NO NETWORK CONNECTION and being dropped a lot, so I feel the pain. I got a six hour ban before I realized that when servers are dropping you, they're going to keep doing it so just give up for the day. I've never DC'd on purpose.

It's especially frustrating when the game knows you didn't DC, gives you your points and then penalizes you, I think that should be changed.

But I still disagree. Quitting crybabies are the most pathetic players and they should be penalized until they move to another game. If quitting is part of your strategy, I want to make you quit and I don't want you to come back. This game has too many crybabies.

  • If you can't escape a killer from across the map, I don't think there's any hope for you.

  • Best post ever.

And it's not just anger, it's fun killing a**holes.

  • My first match yesterday, I took a while to get warmed up and the team I was against were good. I got a couple hooks, but that was it. I was playing Pig. Their best player was waiting outside the gates by the nearest hook trying for a boop. I don't like boops during the match, but if survivors try at the gates I always comply, they won fair and square. I normally love dragging survivors back from the gates, but I wouldn't do it when they're trying to boop.

So I let him boop, he INSISTS I hook him to die. He just wanted to hand me a kill to make my game better. After, he's on console so there was no chat, but I see he's a Rank 2.

I've had this negative stereotype of Red Ranks, often obnoxious, super sweaty, GGEZ when they win, rant like a psychopath when they lose. This guy made me realize some of them just play really well and belong in top ranks, it doesn't require an attitude or obsession with pips.

    GG Rank 2.

  • Don't worry about being banned.

That's an iffy scenario and screwing over your own team is often part of the game, especially when they're screwing you. The only way you're going to get in trouble for working with the killer is if you're doing things like body-blocking for him, cooperating with him the whole game, on comms, etc. No one gets banned over a sandbag. "Working with the killer" means griefing, if you'd planned on ruining that guy's game the whole time, you'd be guilty. Letting him die so you can escape is just choices being made.

It's common for opponents to threaten bans after every game. Reports don't seem to do anything and even if they did, they wouldn't over minor things.

Next time you want to let the killer go for your teammate, you could just lead them there in chase like everyone else.

When I say camping I mean not moving and so close to you that you can only see head and shoulders. Proxy camping is probably what you'd call stalking if it was someone in your local park! I mean there are 4 survivors why circle the same one? (rhetorical) there shouldn't be any advantage for negative play and as such I think they could put all these types of players in the same pool so they can play against each other, then they will see how much fun it is. If gta can make a cheaters pool I'm sure dbd can make a camping pool.

We could fill up a pool with all the crying DBD players do.

Did you know there's a difference between cheating and not cheating? If you want people to play by your rules, play a custom game. Public trials are pubic, they follow the rules created by the devs.

On Rancid Abbatoir, a Survivors glitched on top of one of the loops that have hay bales.

Refused to come down. Told me to "just DC you [BAD WORD] loser."

So I waited. And waited. And waited. And eventually his Xbox overheated and shut down and I won.

    Also, @Trickstaaaaa that's how.

You're a rockstar, that's awesome but also insane.

have a functional heaset, equip stridor, look at grass, profit.

I'll try that next time, but I just don't play her enough to build any skill. I like chasing and smacking people at loops. Killers with a distinctly different style, even the projectile killers, just don't hold me like an old-fashioned chase. Same with Wraith, I love playing him, but after I do, I always go right back to Bubba or Demo. I have a very specific set of skills.

  • When I play Spirit I'm an M1 killer that travels fast. Chasing invisible survivors isn't easy.

  • Because camping isn't against the rules, it's SPECIFICALLY ALLOWED in the rules.

  • @Deadeye said:

Generally a bad idea, you have no pressure at all when you camp. Also all the "depends" answers... you don't know how the survivors play. Of course it is very rewarding for the killer if the team goes for the save at any cost, but you FIRST have to decide to camp and THEN see what's happening. You can't decide to camp as a reaction

I do. When i see three survivors following me to hook, I react by camping. Even if you don't consider that camping, I might camp the next hook because I saw how altruistic the team was playing, so that would be a reaction.

I don't think it's a good strategy unless survivors convince me otherwise, then I react.

  • I get so many second hits because survivors can't leave their items, that's a feature, not a bug.

  • This would be so awesome!

Not just for the points, I hate having the ones I don't like. It's like reminding me I bought so many things I didn't like.

  • The correct answer is "It depends on the survivors."

I can get a whole I-love-you squad by camping one of them. If the survivors have clue, I'll hear gens popping as I stand there and lose.

Killers are reactive, survivors decide which strategy is successful. Strategies that work are good strategies, strategies that fail are bad.

Do you literally know why I made this post? I made this post because I did this in a game and one of the very upset players told me it was bannable. I said I was a survivor because people on the forum seem to be very judgmental just like you. I feel as if you are a player that sits in front of pallets t-bagging the killer then gets mardy when they get tunnelled. Also let me explain what I consider a toxic build. I consider a build toxic if it provides an unfair advantage towards the killer while they themselves act in a way that is toxic. For example a Huntress with the best anti-genrush build in the game who camps and tunnels with Iridescent Heads launching hatchets from across the map.

I misunderstood. You have to admit we see that ######### a lot, I'm just used to lots of crying.

  • You say it like it's bad. Both companies get money and popularity, players get awesome characters and cosmetics. It works, too. Because of DBD I'll often rewatch movies or just plain buy them for my collection. I didn't love Saw until I started playing Pig. Always loved Leatherface but never bought all the movies until DBD. Sometimes I'm in a Bubba mood and just have to watch Bubba while playing Bubba.

As players, we want every horror company to eagerly join Behavior in providing us with their killers and collecting our money. We have plenty of valid complaints about the game, but Mathieu is THE MAN when it comes to securing more killers for us.

  • None.

Survivors would be constantly shining flashlights in my eyes and trying to hit me with household items and killers would kill me.

  • I'm guessing it's because people who worship the Orange God embraced racism so much that it's bleeding into their normal aftergame rants. Never heard about racism in DBD until recently, now I see videos of it on youtube, that makes a game look bad.

Also plenty of "I hope your family/children/mother gets _________", death threats, etc. People act like scum because they often are.

Being a toxic/racist community doesn't help sales. Can't have nice things because of trash.

  • I hope for a nice, long BLOODHUNT!

For those of you that haven't experienced one, in the olden days DBD would give out double blood points for a limited time.

  • If you're playing to make the other team happy, you have a hard road ahead.

Instead of talking to them after game, why not just kill them and move on?

1 … 10 11 12 13 14 15
