DS doesn't hard counter tunneling.
I guess you want "Press E to activate god-mode? Maybe it should be automatic so you don't have to press E?
######### does hard countering tunneling even mean? After a survivor is unhooked, they can never be chased again? Uninstalling hard counters tunneling.
-
You kind of answered your own question there, you tunnel and camp. There's not enough time to go for 12 hooks when the gens will be done in six minutes. Survivors at high MMR are also hook-swarmers, every team is a team that usually survives. The only way to extend that six minutes is by creating a situation that gets them off gens, or kill them faster. Hard camping gets them off gens, tunneling makes them die faster.
It's still fun. It was more fun before MMR.
-
I feel the same way, it's the most wholesome interaction this game has ever had.
-
Lots of people are complaining about Ghostface, if you're going to reveal yourself to GF which likely means taking a hit, why not just take the hit and break him out? It's different if he's stalking, but if he's just running by stealthed, the safe play is to let him.
When I play GF, that's how I find survivors, I just stealth around and the first survivor to see me will jump out and try to stare me down. I use an add on so they'll have to get closer. I don't know why it always works. I lose stealth when I swing.
I feel like a lot of survivors have the attitude "when there's a chance to use a game mechanic we always should," and sometimes it's more strategic to see beyond that.

You have clearly never played against me.
-
If you're hatting for kills, it makes her weaker - maybe, but otherwise it turns her into a different, much stronger killer. Pair it with an addon that improves her crouch attack and you can get so many surprise hits.
Also Pig's stealth is really the best, besides activating at will, she's the only killer that survivors mistake for other survivors. Sometimes you can straight up infiltrate. With auras, that's a lot of power.

That's why I refuse to even try Shadowborn, I don't want to get used to it and feel I need it. I have a tendency to do that anyway, I end up using the same builds on everyone and I'm trying to get away from that.

It's skill-based in name only, the old emblem system was imperfect, but it looked at overall ability. This one just considers an escape or kill.
A survivor that gets out with no points is better than one that maxes out half his emblems but dies. The survivor that kept the killer busy so the game could be won, not as good as the guy that just moved to lose his crows, but escaped. The survivor that safe unhooked, took aggro, did gens, kept his team alive but died on his third hook, not as good as the guy who's SWF carried him the entire game. If you have friends that are really good, you can be one of the best survivors just by following them. Sucks to be you guys that play so well but die because you keep trying to save people and accomplish goals.
A killer that kills by always tunneling is better than a killer that goes for the 12 hook, earns 3 Iridescents but the survivors get out right before last hook. I have lots of games where I outscore escaping survivors, but they're still better because when they teabagged too far from the exit, their team was able to block me from the pickup. If one of his team dies doing this, that means he's inferior to the one that screwed up.
When the killer gives hatch, that means that last survivor was the best player in the match, regardless of his ability or plays. I like giving hatch to be merciful, I'm willing to let the receiver get BP that are rightfully mine, but now I'm also telling the MMR "This guy is the best player in the trial." That's a mixed blessing and inaccurate.
I don't think I've ever given hatch to the best player in the trial, when I give hatch, I'M the best player in the trial. That's kinda why I do it, to give a little "keep your chin up" to the other side because they shouldn't have been matched with me.
It's just so backwards. The game was better without the win system being as simple as possible. This encourages behavior that makes the game less fun for both sides. The emblem system isn't perfect, but it better reflects what makes DBD fun. It encourages you to play rather than just specialize in killing/escaping.
No one likes this.

I want all the classic monsters, I'm a little embarrassed Dracula, Nosferatu and a werewolf aren't there already. I feel like Nurse is already a banshee.
I also want to agree with everyone calling for more monstrous monsters. They could add three or four without their powers overlapping, it's just such a fresh canvas.
A Necromancer that raises dead survivors to serve him would be SO ######### AWESOME. This could also work with Rathorik's idea of a voodoo killer. Actually they could just be different skins.
-
I played a bunch of matches last night (killer), and I really didn't see any survivor advantage from the snowmen. I had several survivors hop in while I was chasing, it didn't seem like it gave them any more time than it cost them, if anything, they had to give up their lead. It's not like they can loop or get away as snowmen.
It is an extra health state, but it has to be. This is for giggles and freebies, it's not fair to ask survivors to take a wound for it while killer gets points. If that were the case, no one would do it and I wouldn't get all the event items.

I guess it depends on your definition. I use it to mean a minor, so a teen would be a child.
I prefer to play as crusty, crotchety old survivors like Bill. 😁

a young human being below the age of puberty or below the legal age of majority.
Yeah, but the stereotypical slasher flick involves a masked psycho killing teenagers. Bill's the old guy that said "You're all gonna die up there!" but then comes to help.

Fair point. Still, that's kind of what the forum is for, no? Discussing opinions and such.
I did actually duck out of this until I was pinged again tho to be fair
Yeah, you're right. We're all guilty of sometimes taking this game too seriously, both on and off the court.

No you're not, 6 is pretty good in a losing game, that's often all there's time for.
-
Hell yeah.
-
Nope.
Killers have free will, survivors have free will. As long as no one's cheating, that's how it should be. I often punish survivors for their behavior, that's one of the best parts of the game. I don't want them to be nice to me, I'm trying to kill them. It's natural for a team that's getting a rush of "we made it" to celebrate a little. The game was exciting, they're all riled up.
It's also lame. They're literally taunting from complete safety because they're afraid to test their skills, some of them even do the "I'll loop you right here because even if you get me, I can get out. I want to play some more but I'm willing to bet NOTHING on my own abilities." It doesn't take any balls, but survivors usually like it that way.
I don't mind. I prefer they're willing to take another hit so we can both get a few extra points, but it doesn't matter. If a team opens the gates after playing obnoxiously, I don't follow them. I just let them wait while I bust out all the walls/pallets for extra points.
-
It only annoys me when it's a survivor that did nothing the entire match.

Good lord, you are taking this far too seriously. The absolute worst case scenario here is that the game is very slightly more annoying until the end of this very limited event, so if that's really insurmountable to you, just take a break until it's over.
So you're right, I don't get it. Seeing survivors hop into snowmen and start moving at a snail's pace is funny, and since they don't get a speed boost it's not a free hit, it's a much more minor extension than that.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687933#Comment_2687933
Stop taking it so seriously. I can't fathom being mad at the jokey holiday event because you take the game so seriously that any even slight advantage the survivors can get from it is unacceptable.
If you're not gonna tolerate it, don't tolerate, go play something else until the event's over. This isn't legitimate criticism, it's being hyper-touchy to even perceived slights.
Aren't you kind of taking this post too seriously? "If you don't like it, don't play". If you don't like reading opinions, don't.
-
"Sweaty" and "tryhard" are just ways of saying "You only won because I wasn't trying".
It's common for children to lie in this way before they're taught about sportsmanship.
-
You gotta kill them. Play as hard as they do, don't ask their permission, don't seek their approval. Kill them like a killer.
-
As killer, you can be nice to everyone if you want. The rules against cooperating with the other team is about a survivor helping the killer get his teammates.
-
Y'know, killers need an emote or two as well. It's hard to point with a chainsaw, I sometimes need to point and survivors think I'm having a tantrum.
-
If it makes you feel better, it wouldn't really matter anyway.
-
Nope.
Simple solution: killers and solo q's that play with a swf get a bp bonus. 20-25% sounds fair.

Being animation locked during the unhook so you can instantly hit them as it ends certainly makes them significantly more vulnerable. There's a reason BT and DS are meta. Cause you jerks won't stop camping and tunneling people off of the hook. Killers that aren't trash get to play against people with less perks, since those are useless.
That's called "Moving the goalposts". Tunneling doesn't mean camping and hitting the unhooked during animation, it means going after the unhooked. In order to continue arguing you had to change the meaning of tunneling.
Also, if using an animation lock is wrong, how come survivors do it constantly? I guess you never use your flashlight during an animation, because of all your empathy? Do you cry yourself to sleep at night thinking about all the points you took away from killers?
Try acting like a grownup, it's a game. If you don't like it, nobody's paying you to play.

Or because the person you just reamed would like to play too instead of bending over for you again.
Empathy. The reason it's a survivor perk is because killer players lack it. That's why they play the side that has no friends.
OOh, you're showing your empathy by insulting thousands of strangers. Show me more examples of what a good person you are.
Not my ######### job to help you play, I'm on the other team. This is a game YOU AGREED TO PLAY the person running from a killer. If you're looking for empathy, play a game with no killers.
-
@Feyd said:
Because you don't get full chases after the first. You're injured from the onset and the killer is usually in a position to down you seconds after the unhook. There's no chase. It's just instadown and rebook.
Hey, did you know that survivors just off the hook are no more vulnerable than any other wounded survivor?
-
Because survivors want to win without the skills to earn it.
A little DBD trivia: a survivor just off hook is no more vulnerable than any other wounded survivor. They're not even necessarily closer to death hook, the rescuer might be closer. They really just want killers to go after the fully-healed because that's a terrible strategy.
-
Thank you for your commendation, I commend you as well.
I only play killer, I didn't buy this game to play survivor. Tried it once, ever. Too scary for me. I've been playing so long it's ridiculous that I don't know the game from the other side. Sometimes I toy with the idea of giving it a real try, but I don't wanna.
I think the survivor's toxicity is the biggest problem for keeping killers. Having four people taunt you in game and in after-chat wears on some people. Many of you are young and care about your peers, virtual or otherwise. I'm old, I don't give a tiny little ######### what anyone says or does in this game. That's why I'm able to play killer with no end in sight.
That also covers other frustrations, I don't give a #########. I'm trying to learn Nurse right now and I'm God-awful. The only kills I get are from survivors that mistake me for a new killer, otherwise I'm expecting zero kills, I'm not really trying for kills. I still find myself answering DID YOU HAVE FUN? with at least 3 stars, often five. Because I am having fun, it's a fun game. Blinking around is fun, hitting people after blinking is probably fun. I enjoy the killer role.
The bright side of playing killer: I can be in another match in thirty seconds, and I will be.

To increase mutation you have to use the whip on zombies, hitting them counts for addons and points, but not mutation.

Both the forums and the subreddit always were quite killer sided, treating killers like the underdogs while survivors as the big bad villain, but recently this has been worst than ever.
These forums have mostly become an echo chamber for killers who want the game to be shaped around them.
Like yes, I understand that this game is survivor sided, meaning that if both sides try their hardest and play almost perfectly, the survivors will mostly win.
But that doesnt mean yall can just act as if people who play survivor are the scum of the earth.
And holy hell, if the devs really decide to follow the general consensus of the forums, all matches would be a 4K at 5 gens.
The way some of yall get so offended by somebody's virtual avatar crouches over and over again.
Even I have gotten quite stressed because of this game, but I have never, never, never put blame on the survivors or the devs, because, as you so often repeat, "They bought the game, they play how they want"
Recently, almost every post has a variation of "survivor easy and no stress, so survivor players are babies. Killer hard and have stress, so killer players are oppressed".
If killer is so hard, then go play survivor and try it out. If you say it's easy and stress free, there are three things that could make you say that. 1.Low MMR for the skills you have 2.You stress yourself when playing killer. 3. You're lying.
Many times, when you're having a stressful time playing a game, all you need to do is relax and remember, its just a game, and the results don't matter.
But it seems that too many of you have put hours into getting better, and feel you deserve results, and therefore if you dont get those results, you'll feel cheated, which causes you to stress.
Yes, sometimes the game really is unfair, or atleast feels very unfair. But most of this unfairness is created by your expectations.
Hell, for some time i had quit DBD when i had around 700 hours in the game. Because I thought I deserved to win almost every match. And that simply wasn't true.
I play around 70% killer and 30% survivor if it matters.
Alright, rant over
The forums wouldn't seem so full of killers except that survivors always pretend to be killer mains. "I mostly play killer but survivors are the only players I seem to sympathize with. Let me tell you why survivors are right about everything."

Could you give a tutorial and/or advice to those who are stuck in the ways of camping? They are oh so lost and in need of guidance.
ETA: To borrow from StarLost, Sigh...
This post was made in jest. Bitter jest, but jest all the same. When I say "campers" I mean the ones that are looking you directly in the face, whether that be at close proximity or from a close distance. I forgive patrolling. I forgive hunting down a survivor you know is in the area. I even forgive hitting either the survivor who is hooked or the one doing the unhooking if they do it right in front of your face because that's just audacious of them. I'm a killer main, I'm not against killers. I'm not trying to "whine," I am poking fun. It only gets frustrating when people start putting words in my mouth and start jumping to conclusions. Okay?
How about a tutorial to teach survivors not to cause camping?
If I see you hiding beside the hook while I'm hooking, or if you rush me, bodyblock, attempt sabo, I'm not leaving, BECAUSE i KNOW YOU'RE RIGHT THERE. If you're clicking at me the whole time I'm hooking, I'm going to look for you, right there.. If you run me around the hook, I'll chase you around it as long as you want me to.
If you're near the hook when I'm hooking LEAD ME AWAY IN A CHASE. It's easy as hell, but you have to get close enough for me to chase, just seeing you tb across the map isn't what I'm talking about. If you're standing there watching me, I'm comfortable waiting it out.
The only thing that can stop me is doing gens, but don't do that.
-
Some competition might make the devs GAF, but it there's only room for one game like this, there wouldn't be so much money in it.
It will cause some player drain, many of us will play both but angry/frustrated players will have somewhere to go. Maybe BHVR will act like they like the players.

Either make decisive strike basekit or something because the amount of killers that just turbo-tunnel and follow you for 12 seconds after an unhook for a free kill is getting on my nerve. Just played a game where the same teammate farmed me twice and I went from a 1 and a half minute chase for the first hook only to have the killer get the second and third hook stage after 30 seconds. WE NEED BUILT IN ANTI-TUNNEL.
Learn to get away.
Back in the day, survivors would do that sometimes. They'd get out of sight and just hide.
Learn about safe unhooks, that's when a survivor unhooks you NOT RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE KILLER. If you do this, the healthy survivor should take the chase, they usually don't, not the killer's problem.
also you could USE YOUR BT TO GET AWAY. It's not there for you to take a free hit, it's for you to get away. We deliberately go after you after you do this, because you just wasted your BT. It's not our job to help you, we're actually the opposing team.

This is the 3rd game in a row someone in my game including me has died because they are being face camped by a killer and my team can't do anything about it. Maybe change it so if a killer is within a certain distance of the hook the time is slowed or something to prevent killers from being able to just sit there and camp 2 or 3 kills.
If facecamping gets a killer 2 or 3 kills, he's playing against idiots or survivors that want to fight at the hook.

Hey, if the killer went afk then survivors ain't gonna stop doing gens, why should I not hook a survivor if they go afk?
I get some usefulness from Lethal using Doc or Pig, where I'm trying to get hats or madness asap. It can be effective, but it's hard to tell if it's worth a perk slot. A lot of the time the survivors are on the far gen and I would have headed there anyway.

I honestly would love NOED to be changed from an instadown perk, to a mainly movement speed perk. I do think the instadowns are required for NOED, but I'd say that for every 2 hooks you'd recieve 1 token of double damage instead(not exposed status, just literal double damage, being capable of eating through endurance since it's 2 hits).
So effectively, you wouldnt lose a double damage stack if survivors are already injured since you only need to deal 1 damage to down them. Then you could boost the speed up to about 7%(note, the percentage isnt additive, 7% on a 115% killer isnt 122%, it's 123.05% Just like the 4% isnt 119%, but 119.6%).
Ofcourse, this would mean that it no longer needs to be a hex totem. Since it's not a Hag perk, the hexiness of the perk isnt necessarily required for the design.
Dude, you're just creating a new perk and deleting NOED.
I like the idea of the new perk, but am fine with NOED. It's not that great a perk, but it gives survivors a reason to leave.
