You're most likely not going to get them back.
I lost 25,200 Iridescent Shards during last year's Halloween Event.
They released the event outfits for 21,600 Shards each, and I immediately bought two of them.
Less than two days later, they discounted them to 9,000 each due to fan outcry over the event. They never said they planned on doing this, so it seems like it was a hasty change to get some good PR (as the event was basically universally disliked by the community.
No, they didn't refund the difference to people who bought the outfits before the discount, despite many people such as myself asking.
That's just normal capitalism. Buyer beware.

Games where only two people are remaining can be pretty difficult, since if 1 person is getting chased, there's only 1 person working on gens. If the killer comes back after an unhook, it would be easy for them to down the unhooked person and then just chase the last remaining person. Because of this, a bunch of people probably view a match with only 2 people as an already lost game, so they may as well find the hatch so at least 1 person escapes instead of 0 people. So I'm not saying I commend people doing that, but I understand.
This is the problem with hatches. In the old days, killing two survivors didn't stop the remaining from playing. Now when two are killed, the game changes completely, no more gen-working, just a game of hatch. Now the survivors either hope the other gets killed, or one of them suicides/DC's for the other. Fundamentally messes up the match.
Used to be if a killer was way better, he'd win. Now survivors can escape regardless of ability. But tunneling is wrong.

The trials aren't that long, I think players should just finish the game.

Killer can 'ragequit' by just openning the gates, preventing survivors from doing any more gens or getting any more points, and without the penalty for DCing.
But they'd still get their escape points. I don't think survivors care about the gen points. I've seen lots of keys used, I've never seen a survivor do an unnecessary gen.
This is one of those tiny problems that aren't worth fixing, because the fixing would affect more matches than the problem does.

I have some advice for everyone that lets frustration change their opinion of DBD, you've gotta stop giving a #########. Stop caring about ranking, no one respects you because of it, no one's impressed. Matchmaking doesn't even respect rank. Just play and have fun. Every trial doesn't matter, none of the trials matter. The play is all that matters.
Match isn't going your way? Lose and then play another after, then another, then another. Consider every tiny success a win, consider every improvement an accomplishment. Making red ranks fight for their win is more of an accomplishment than stomping 20's. Having fun is the biggest accomplishment of all.
And most of all, when a survivor is being an #########, kill them. That's more fun than winning. When a survivor is trying to make you mad, kill them before they succeed. Giving them another fair chance to escape will only make you feel worse when they do. They want your attention, give it to them. Not to teach them a lesson, not to ruin their lives, just for fun. ######### them if they can't see the funny. They'll cry no matter what, give them a reason.
I'm not a sweaty player, I don't go for snowballs and rarely use much strategy. I'm playing for hooks, that's my challenge. When survivors make me want to tunnel or camp, I do. Not to win, but because revenge is fun. Clicky flashlights fuel my fire. If you teabag, you better be good enough to get away, because I like killing aggressive players.
I haven't gotten angry at this game in a long time. I get a little angry when survivors that did nothing teabag at exit, but that's just because they suck. But big picture, I like it when unskilled survivors rank up, makes them more fun for another killer to kill.
You're already playing Clown. You chose to play a challenging killer, remember why. It wasn't because you wanted balance, it wasn't because you needed an emblem or a rank. You chose clown for fun, now play for fun. When you find yourself playing for another reason, slap yourself across your big clown face and get your priorities in order. Play for fun.
-
Yeah, that would be great for queue times, let's help cheaters be #########, ######### all of us that play the game correctly.

And the killer can just slug you to avoid it. Ds is mostly useless in most situations .
One might say DS is useless in every situation unless you're being tunneled. What if that's the intention? Like an anti-tunneling perk or something?
-
@NoOneKnowsNova said:
Although more people should use DS with the issues of tunneling, something does have to be done to make tunneling less common. If it be DS working like Nemesis, an obsession being base game regardless or something else, but something does need to be done.
Old DS was overpowered, and this change is a step in the right direction, but its undeniable that the game for survivors is a lot less fun especially in solo queue where you can't just tell your friend "Hey, we should all run DS so tunneling doesn't work."
The game would be more fun for killers if we could also have the advantages of perks without bringing them. Survivors use items all the time, and I can't make them drop items without Franklin's. How do I get my name on the list of players that want advantages but don't want the "unfun" requirement of using a perk slot?

That sad moment when your main is the only killer in the game that doesn't have a single cosmetic... It feels bad :(
At least I have the TEAMSXY Gear as survivor.
That's when you gotta prestige. All my faves are licensed, so limited cosmetics. Give me a dozen choices and I don't bother, but I had to P3 my favorites.
-
Killers aren't skins though, they have different powers, also different terror radius, move at different speeds, different heights, these all chance game mechanics. The swings can be different, too. Myers has the smallest and the longest lunge.
-
The maps are just layouts for tiles, the tiles are placed randomly within the layout. Maps have landmarks that are always there, but sometimes they move or are rotated, or they're the same, but the surrounding tiles are all different.
You can learn how the map is shaped, you can learn the tiles, but every map will be different. Maybe several gyms in a row, maybe a dead zone. Shack might be rotated, most maps have random exit gates. Basement usually has two different places it might spawn.
So you can't memorize the map like you might in lots of games, you can familiarize, but you'll have to scope it out again each match. The room that was so awesome in one match might be a deathtrap in another.
I still agree with your idea, there are lots of powers and perks I'd like to practice before starting a match.

Look I don't care if the developers think camping is a "legitimate strategy" because in reality it isn't. Strategy is putting effort into something, sitting in front of a hook is not putting in any effort, those players that pretend their farming and then kill everyone put in more effort because they have to set it all up and make it seem like their farming.
Thing is, the developers developed the game. If you didn't want to play it, you shouldn't have bought it.
-
I think there should be a perk where a survivor starts a match in the exit gates, then walks out a winner. Then you wouldn't need a killer that serves you like a ######### butler.
The downside is all survivors would use it every time and those of us that actually want to play DBD would never get a match.
Single player games give you a lot more control over your enemies. You can put it on easy, then play with God mode turned on. Might be just what you wanted all along.
-
Here's what you can't understand:
THEY DON'T WANT TO ADDRESS THESE THINGS, THEY ARE ADDRESSED IN THE RULES!
Tunneling, facecamping, teabagging, slugging, sandbagging, body-blocking, these are all specifically addressed in the rules, and THEY ARE PART OF THE GAME.
You can use perks to stop them, you can play to counter them, but THEY ARE NOT AGAINST THE RULES, THEY ARE PART OF THE GAME. You can either play against them or don't, doesn't matter, THEY ARE STILL PART OF THE GAME.
it's an important distinction, I'm not saying they are technically allowed, I'm saying they are SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED AS BEING ALLOWED.
TLDR: THEY ARE PART OF THE GAME
-
It would be cheating if you stayed there, screwing up the match using an exploit isn't allowed.
Finding a bug and then moving on is definitely not cheating, you were playing against a crybaby killer.
Also, the reporting system doesn't really do anything, so don't worry about any reports unless you're a true consistent cheater.
-
Because there are way more survivors, and it's expected that survivors use exploits of any kind and it's never cheating.
"Ha ha, you can't hit me, I got on the ledge and now I'm cheating but it's ok!"
Killers are considered cheaters if they use certain perks or play to win.
"Hey cheater, didn't you know you have to hook us each in rotation even though we try to make that impossible! If we don't have fun you're cheating!"
"Noed = cheating! Second chance perks are only for survivors!"
-
That's how the game works. Survivors can win if they have a good team mate, they can even win accidentally. Survivors can rank up without learning game basics.
Killers are skilled, we're expected to earn our points.
-
Survivors: "DS isn't worth bringing if I can't use it for everything"
Also Survivors: "Everyone's tunneling because we all feel like DS isn't worth bringing!"
-
@ukenicky said:
I mean, you have a point here. A survivor is technically useless after being unhooked now with DS since if they do anything in that 60 seconds to advance the objective, DS deactivates.
I'll refrain from commenting any further though as I am not a professional on the matter of balancing in this category lol
Why do you feel like being hooked should be rewarded in any way? Safe for 60 if being tunneled, but why, if not being tunneled, would a survivor deserve or need 60 free seconds of anything? Get away or get back to game. Trials aren't long enough to need a vacation.
-
No, there's a problem with servers dropping players mid-match, and several of the times it's happened to me was during a grab or pickup animation. Just freezes and I start cursing.
Often it just happens once, if you get it again in one day, just stop playing or your locks will get longer fast. This had never happened to me before, but once it started I was stubborn enough to get a 6 hour ban, I just quit playing for a week so it could die down.
-
It takes a really long time to do things you're not doing. Often forever.
-
It should make it impossible for the killer to ever down you, no wait, it should make it possible for you to kill the killer! Maybe you could just start the game in the exit gates and get a great big bonus for standing there!
If you're afraid, stay in the lobby.
-
That can't be a very common happening. As a killer I know to hate survivors and never trust them. A sneaky, backstabbing survivor is way more evil than a regular survivor, and you're already evil enough. Like a cobra with a scorpion tail, not to be trusted.
That does suck, but if it makes you feel any better, lots of us killers hate that kind of thing and will go out of our way to punish it. I see a sandbagger, I'll go after them first every time.
The day I need a survivor to help me kill survivors is the day I hang up my tools of murder. Shameful.
-
I'm going to start reporting survivors for gen-rushing and hiding from me. I never get a fair chance to chase or kill them... NOT FAIR! Survivors often act like they don't want me to get any kills! How am I supposed to get any points if they won't die for me?
Now excuse me while I go have a good cry.
-
It's a form of cheating, along with crosshair overlays, bright overlays, using resolution for an edge, using a macro, using comms, binding to your mouse wheel, map expoits, etc.
I don't care one way or the other, but if you cheat you're never really winning, you're admitting you can't win fairly. Maybe your cheat will trick me into thinking you won, but you're also admitting you can't win without it.
-
No, these tactics wouldn't be banned, tournament players aren't expecting their entitlements to win for them. They might even try to safe unhook, the opposite of how all survivors do it.
Did you know that a survivor coming off the hook is actually no weaker than any survivor that's been hit? Did you know that injured survivors run and perform at the same speed as every other survivor?
So you come off hook and want to sit in your safe-space, have a good cry. Meanwhile, I just hit a guy with sloppy and franklin's, he's mangled, hemorrhaging and just dropped his equipment, but somehow he's expected to keep playing without anyone holding his hand or kissing his boo-boo. Why should you be rewarded for being hooked? Being punished for bad play is common in games, rewards for bad plays are rare.
How's about this, try running and escaping instead of standing there with a thumb up your ass. Camping and tunneling are specifically allowed, run, Forrest, run.
-
Seems like the only solution is to remember who they are and hope for a chance to not unhook them? Maybe even run the killer around the hook until they die?
It's shocking how many upper ranked survivors are terrible players, but they really are. But that's how it goes in team games, when your team is garbage, you're not going to win. Play killer so you can have a good team.
-
No, that's just silly, you're new so it's cool.
If you don't like the basement, stay away from it.

other ones that are bad are stunning a killer 4 times in one match; pallet or otherwise. They're so obnoxious and get you targeted so easily.
I understand the frustration with the grab challenges too with the action being so particular.
Not just particular, grabbing has been bugged for at least two chapters, the only way to do it is accidentally, if you go for it, you just give the survivor a backrub, they can just run and cancel your grab.
-
I like it when survivors quit because they know they can't play against me. Quitting and running away like a baby is the sincerest form of killer flattery.
I especially like it when one DC's or gives up so the other can get hatch. That's an entire team admitting I'm impossible to escape.
-
You always have to put your health first, I hate DCers, but I give you a pass.
If you can get them, facecamp or tunnel them out, that's even better.
-
I worry there won't be a bloodhunt, because those don't exist anymore.
-
When we eventually get Jason, they'll add survivor sex scenes and double-moris.
Fact.
-
I prestige all my favorites unless I don't like their default skin. I mainly play licensed killers, so cosmetics are few, I needs 'em. I never use Pig's or Ghostface's default, so I don't prestige them. Bubba, Myers, Demo, had to.
Also theres a good feeling about finishing the P3, now you can buy everything and know you get to keep it. I'm cheap when I might prestige, wasted all those points on 50 moris or perks I think are silly? But once P3, I buy all the perks just to get them off the web. Maybe I'll need 50 moris someday.
It's pretty sweet. Now when I unlock a new perk, I'm sure to max it within three webs.
-
I enjoy the mobility. I usually play patrolling killers, I spend lots of time jogging around. Playing Wraith or Legion is sometimes fun just because I can zoom around for a change.
-
I want licensed killers, I've given up on Behavior's creativity.

None of the perks are good.
Trickster's best perk is Starstruck, which doesn't give any indication of exposing a survivor and it goes on cooldown even without exposing any survivors.
The surv's best perk is Smash Hit which is the worst exhaustion perk in the game right now. Not only does it rely heavily on the servers like Dead Hard, but it's the only exhaustion perk that relies on resources that you should be making an attempt to conserve.
I only played one trial with trickster, used his 3 perks.
Starstruck got me two downs, a body blocker and a flashlighter, both during my first hook of the game. Why do you need an indication? it works WHILE you are carrying a survivor and for more than 20 seconds after. If you're unsure, hit anyway, there's no downside to hitting a survivor. The rest of the game, everyone stayed away while I hooked.
It's like mad grit but way better.
All Tricksters perks seem pretty good, but they are situational. Starstruck is very good, will be great with Agitation.
-
Everytime I stop playing, I read forums to see how survivors are crying that killers exist, that inspires me to want to play so I can kill some more.
-

It's a gigantic problem for survivors that can't run from the killer or do a 12 second exit gate, which is apparently a majority.
-
First hook camping is already 100% loss of game. Camping in general only works if survivors are stupid.
The fix to all camping: don't be stupid, if it works you deserve it.
-
I think the hatch is too easy, screws up a lot of games because survivors will all focus on getting hatch when a little teamwork could have let them get a team win.
I've had lots of boring games where I can't find the last two survivors only to find out they were both camping the hatch and hoping the other would die. It's supposed to be a last chance rather than the goal.
And don't get me started about teams that start the game planning on hatch. When I see you're trying to get out early, I help you by tunneling you right the hell out so you can get on with whatever it was that made you not want to play a full trial.
I firmly believe that most survivors hate every aspect of this game and would have more fun if they would just play a single player game on easy.
-
I don't get the broken keys at all.
When I see a key, I bring a mori and I use it. Fun for me, but I don't see how that helps the victim.
-
Survivors will cry no matter what you do. They don't want you to try, they want you to coddle them so they can spit on you in chat.
Tunnel them. If you can use a trap to tunnel better, do it.
-
Survivors are ALWAYS going to accuse you of one or the other, it's part of their strategy to win without playing well.
The solution is to earn it, they're going to accuse you, don't argue, earn their tears.
-
"No fair, a killer was playing the game, but not in the way I wanted! Everything a killer does is toxic, I am a crybaby!"
No, playing killer is NOT bannable. We can kill you however we want to, killing you in a way that gets points is THE OBJECT OF THE GAME.
-
Survivors have dozens of ways to tell what perks the killer is running, but God forbid a killer gets some info.
If you want the benefit of DS, run DS. All this crying has made me tunnel way more. Used to be I avoided it, but survivors deserve it.

His perks are pretty sweet, but during the next bugfix they'll probably nerf them all.
