Like Wraith, my problem with Blight isn't the killer it's the people who play him and how they play
The same 4 perks every game, the same strat every game
Puts me to sleep.
-
This game and its community can get to us all at some point
These things happen sometimes, it's good to be reflective when they do.
-
I'd rather face 80 demos in a row than the usual red rank pick and mix
(Blight, Nurse, Spirit, Wraith, Bubba)
-
There's a certain elitism a small section of the dbd community has and it ticks me off
-
Yes
No
No
No
Keys are the problem, not the hatch itself nor the hatch spawning conditions
Some people think the last survivor being able to get the hatch is unfair/takes no skill and so on but it brings a quick end to a game that clearly wasn't going well for the survivors if they got to that point. It also gives survivors in a losing game a bit of hope, no matter how small
I like the ideas of like an 'endgame chase' or something put forward by some people, but I think it's unnecessary.
-
I typed Steve Harrington and it got censored
-
No. Also way to poison the well with the poll option
Punish people for dcing when a match actually begins. You should not be penalised for leaving at anytime before then
If this is added, more people will just stop playing killer altogether. It will solve absolutely nothing, I am confident in that.
-
I don't think they would fit the game.

I’ve never seen so many killers get hit by DS since the nerf, in fact for a while I didn’t see it used in a single game. Now, almost every single match the killer will get hit by at least one, often more, because they’re so aggressive about going after someone just off hook.
I don’t want to be a meta slave, but I also want to be able to play a match for longer than one chase. It is what it is I suppose.
And likewise I've never used DS and had it go off so many times in my thousands of hours with this game. Even before the recent nerf
It's actually insane.

No, you haven't. You can just keep playing with your casual builds until your MMR drops down and you start facing opponents who also run casual builds.
If you run strong stuff, you should go against opponents who also bring strong stuff.
You shouldn't have to lose a bunch of games just to be able to run the perks you want
Perks have nothing to do with skill, how you USE perks, sure - there's skill involved there.
-
@xenotimebong said:
All I’ll say is that I used to run casual survivor builds for fun. Today I switched my build to DS/UB/SB/IW based on how my matches are going.
I didn’t think I’d ever want to take off Kindred in solo queue, but my first match with that build consisted of me being camped into second state, immediately tunnelled off hook, slugged until my recover bar was 99, then picked up and I only escaped because of DS. So I think I’ll be running this build for a while.
I feel you
I used to never run DS, I thought it was a perk that was simply being wasted because killers never usually hardcore tunnelled me - they would only tunnel if they were losing their grip on the match which is understandable
Now I've had so many games where I am straight up hardcore tunnelled from the start.
-
Every match I've played against a nurse with MMR, they all had double recharge addons, or in an edge case, a recharge and distance addon
Every Trapper game I've played against trapper with MMR, they all had iri stone and purple bag
-
People only run it when doing adept laurie or perk roulette
I've seen more people run premonition lmao

Re would be cool but since we got Claire and Chris I think a full chapter is pretty unlikely, I would love another Silent hill chapter with James, Harry, or Henry, I just don't know which killer it would be.
Well if rumours are to be believed, BHVR might start doing paragraphs again
Maybe we could see a RE: MR.X paragraph at some point.
-
Personally I wonder if they'd ever do a 'part 2' of franchises they've already done
Like another Resident Evil chapter for example.
-
Because he's extremely easy to play
like freddy was and still kinda is.
-
No.
-
Not a forum vet, however a big megathread was made about blight on controller and it actually did something, a patch that came some time shortly after had greatly improved his control for console and controller users
-
meg can rock any hairstyle she wants

Nothing really of note here, besides this at the very end:

I'll preface this by saying there's an equal chance it's nothing at all.
However, it could be a V or maybe even an L.
Yeah that's just the buckle
-
No, it hasn't.
I've played a few games and all of them were terrible so far.

No

The Realm beyond aka the map overhauls
They took 3 chapters worth of new maps and gave us visually stunning but still unbalanced as hell maps. I would consider realm beyond a success IF they had actually ironed out the balance issues with the maps I'm about to mention
Cowshed and Rotten fields are still extremely unbalanced towards survivor. Thompson house is still bad as well. The others are okay.
Gas Heaven is still an unbalanced mess with massive car walls
Shelter Woods is still a massive dead-zone for survivor with no main building to it.
The Game is still a brainless pallet town
The other problematic maps remain untouched (Haddonfield)
-
My theory at the moment is they removed it because it could be considered a 'hostage' spot
As in it's extremely easy for a killer to hold someone hostage permanently in there

I hope this isn't true or at least a bug, because that would make the main building even worse for killers than it already is
I understand the concern but from a dev perspective having a room in a building that will kill you if you enter makes no sense gameplay wise, if you ask me. I know Hawkins/Game has similar dead ends but that's usually caused by the map having doors opened by gens
It's also annoying for killers since they are forced to break a wall if they want to hook anyone who goes in there.
-
For me, I do the following:
- Never burn map offerings
- Never bring keys or BNPs
- I don't engage in the typical provoking BM like tbagging or clicking and so on. I will BM if the killer BMs me though, you get what you give
- I'll help with challenges if it's clear the Killer's trying to do one (The plague one for example)
- I'll wait in the exit gates to give killers extra points, if they make it clear they don't wanna then I just leave so I don't waste their time
I think everything else is fair game.

you have a picture so i can see, because this window was open before but they changed it, and became a death room
I can't check it right now but, basically
the death room has 2 breakable walls - the one that leads out onto the balcony and the one that connects to the room behind it (Which leads to the 'god window' in the saloon at the top of the stairs
I believe they've made it so one of (or both) of the doors are open meaning the death room is no longer a constant dead end.

@adam1233467 said:
what they did to dead dawn saloon death room?
it's open now, from what I know
meaning no more breakable walls?

I would've said all-kill not too long ago, but I've actually come to appreciate Trickster & Yun-jin a lot more. Same with their perks. The buffed no way out is one of my favourite perks in the game now.
Binding of Kin takes the cake for the absolute worst. It fails in basically everything it set out to do I think. Elodie is the only redeeming part of it
A broken (as in doesn't function properly) killer power that conceptually is extremely original. Twins is the first killer that allows the player to actually control two seperate entities. It's just a shame that they are so broken and unfun to both play and play against (IMO of course)
Their perks are also so hilariously bad. Oppression being the only one worth using
-
Freddy's power actually functions properly
Ghostface's reveal mechanic only works when it feels like it.
-
They fixed her nose I think though

At that point your best bet is to go watch good survivor players who stream their gameplay against wraith with this combination. Here, nobody will give you straight simple answer that work consistently every time, just general tips.
I doubt you'll find better way to learn counterplay to anything other the figuring it out yourself or watching others who did so.
That's the problem though because like I've said, I face this killer and these particular things quite a lot and I still don't really know any concrete method of 'countering' it
And don't get me wrong, I don't die to this stuff every time - I just don't feel very accomplished when I win against it either because I don't feel like it had much to do with my own skill (For example, getting broken maps or set ups that literally anyone apart from nurse/spirit would struggle)
-
He hasn't been touched a single time since release
kinda astounding when literally every other killer has

Bambozlee only affects one window at a time, it doesn't automatically delete a loop. There are a lot of unskillful things survivors do in chase so I don't think that's a good argument.
Listen, the point isn't 'oh bamboozle op'
The point is bamboozle severely limits your options even more so when you factor in the fact Wraith moves insanely quickly so moving to another tile usually will result in them getting a free hit or a free pallet. Which is a net positive in both cases for the killer
I'm not looking to make this into a whataboutism thread, I'm genuinely trying to figure out an answer to the question.

Yeah no #########. That goes for any killer that's good. Or do you simply counter killers like blight who are better at everything wraith does (besides stealth) without much thought or risk to it.
You need to adjust to his gameplay, read how he plays, mimdgame and all that. Ofc it isn't simple, otherwise it wouldn't be fun. And in the end he's still mostly M1 killer, nowhere near as hard as outchasing spirit, slinger, nurse, blight, oni etc
If I knew what the 'counter' or 'right play' was against these combinations I wouldn't be asking this question to begin with.

A flashlight. A flashlight is the ultimate counter to the whole Wraith. One flashlight in the team, and Wraith can't use his power for the rest of the game.
Sorry but in my opinion this is blatantly not true
A good wraith can dodge flashlights extremely easily mainly because he moves so bloody quickly while cloaked and survivors move slow as a snail while aiming their flashlight
This is not factoring things like re-appearance addons which make lightburning him even harder

I main Wraith so I naturally don't want him nerfed.
I'm not asking for him to be nerfed with this thread
I'm simply asking what are survivors meant to do against certain unfun combinations that I come across a lot. The intention of the thread wasn't 'nerf wraith' it was 'so this is annoying me, what do I do?'
Killers should be strong, I'm not advocating for nerfs. Tweaks sure.

Why would you drop the pallet when he's cloaked? Just give it another loop.
You wouldn't, normally.
But if you're in a common tile that has a window and the window is blocked - you're kinda screwed either way. From what I've seen the uncloak speed burst can net you hits in MOST shorter loops but I've not 100% tested all of them.
@bjorksnas said:

If he is cloaked you can spam vault a pallet and he is unable to break it
I never considered this as an option before, I'll try it in the future. Thank you and the other person who mentioned it.
-
@Boss said:
That's really only useful on long-medium & long loops, or loops that no longer have a Pallet.
Too much time is wasted on uncloaking if the Survivor pays attention to the shimmer to know if the Wraith vaulted or not.
Red ranks must be weird, i know i wouldn't run that inconsistent combination, not for that purpose at least.
Shadow dance isn't as common as Bamboozle, for me but I still see it a lot
@Kebek said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2397480#Comment_2397480
That's why you loop it first.
It's harder than it sounds because he'll either bodyblock the pallet then hit you with the uncloak speed boost (Which some wraiths are insistent on using at every single tile) or you try to leave the tile and do some shift + wing (which case, he catches up in 2 seconds due to his immense speed once again)
Pre-dropping is the safest bet, but shadow dance renders that kinda pointless as well
-
@Kebek said:
Pallets, he still gets obliterated by throwing down pallets and efficint gen pressure. Also chaining tiles when possible.
Wraith's chase power is nowhere near actual good chase killers.
This is where shadow-dance comes into it, you pre-drop pallets, he breaks it in 1 second then catches up with his insane speed

Wraith is probably the most balanced killer in the game currently. The other option is blight, though his mechanic is difficult to use on console so I try not to use him as a metric to compare other killers on.
That combination of add-ons and perks means that he is strong against windows, but isn't that strong against pallets. It also means that you can still mindgame him around short pallets or areas with multiple windows.
Also, abuse pallet tech if you have to and force him to unclock at pallets if he is cloaking after every pallet drop. This is where you repeatedly vault while he is cloaked so he cant break the pallet. He has to uncloak to force either a hit or to get the pallet break and then reclock to chase. Great time waster. The main problem with Wraith currently is 70% of people have no idea what to do against him.
Also, I have never seen this combination on Wraith. When I play as him or against him shadow dance is common but not bamboozle.
Well I wish I was you, because almost every wraith I face (which, again to stress - is a LOT) over 50% of them have bamboozle.
-
@Rez_Marsiel said:

You counter bamboozle like you always have. It's worse on wraith because he has to uncloak immediately after the vault for value. IDK what you're complaining about.
To my knowledge you counter bamboozle by either leaving the loop or dropping the pallet immediately right?
You can't leave the loop because the wraith catches up insanely quickly
You give him the pallet and he breaks instantly with shadow dance addons
So...What's left?
-

Such a weak combo that's easy to counter. It's not even the strongest he can be. Hit and run is his strongest strat.
Explain what the counter to it is, that's why I made this thread in the first place
To be clear, I never said this was the strongest thing imaginable, I just don't believe it's balanced or fun to go against.
@GrimoireWeiss said:
Long loops and loops with double windows. Sure on some loops it's a guaranteed hit, but so is a Billy with Enduring + Spirit Fury on a pallet loop, or Huntress on a short loop. Besides that, this combination was always possible even before Wraith's buff, don't know why you're bothered by it now.
Because I've had to go against it like several games in a row for several weeks now and I don't think there's any skill involved on the Wraith's part. You just vault any window the survivor could use.
-
@DelsKibara said:
Keep an eye out for his glimmer? Pay attention to your surroundings. Use strong tiles and pallets? Lightburn his since he is very susceptible to that? Also what games have you been playing? Because I have never seen a Wraith use that combo before. It's usually just speed add-ons.
I play at red rank, just for clarification and I see the majority of wraiths using Bamboozle and it's the most boring thing imaginable
-
@Rez_Marsiel said:
Wraiths use shadow dance and bamboozle? Since when?
Since wraith was buffed, 90% of the wraiths I've been against (which is a lot I want to add) all used bamboozle.
A lot of them also use it with shadow dance as well, so you have NO options at any tile that has a pallet/window.
-
Running away from the killer is part of the game
-
People complain when survivors loop
People complain when survivors don't loop
Make up your mind
-
It just looks better.
It doesn't matter that I'm using things that make the game look like it's being played on a 3DS, it simply LOOKS BETTER.
Mentaly gymnastics of the people who use it, just admit the real reason you use it and be done with it.
-
Bamboozle is not a healthy perk for the game due to certain killers
Mostly Wraith & Bubba.
-
It's from one of the previous rifts I believe.
It will likely become available on the store in the close future as some have already - like Trapper's tome set
-
Only problem I can see is how do you have Isaac without his iconic suit
Unless they're willing to just let him wear it. In which case, there's no real issues
