Yea, but would it be fun to play against. You realize people need to have fun to play a game and to continue to play it, right?
With the changes he sounds pretty fun to play against to me.
I read your posts. One of the most biased individuals on these forums. I most certainly don't respect your opinion or what you would consider "fun".
I find that quite ironic since you were the one that asked me a question.
Regardless, I am not biased at all, I play both sides at rank 1 regularly. However, I doubt you could say the same.
Look who it is accusing people of not playing both sides. Sounds like you need to get put in your place again 🤨
Oh you mean I need to put you in time out again?
You already got taught a lesson that you didn't learn last time, let's not embarrass yourself more

@akbays35 An interesting take and that makes sense. What if they actually brought the base killer speed down to hag levels and just made those killers powers a lot stronger? Would make it easier to balance and make them all viable. I suppose that would raise the low rank killer learning curve though.Like Trapper with 5 traps at with insta setup and pickup speed at 110% ms? That or just boost their passive mobility if their power is dinky. Imagine Freddy with 120% movement speed. Rank 1 players would still just camp pallets. > @Attackfrog said:

Just drop it and let anyone play with anyone. You'll get some games with noobs, some with try hards but at least it will be a mix up and nobody will be accused of "depipping".
I challenge anyone to come up with one solid reason the ranking system is helpful/beneficial.
exactly my dude, I play with swfs all the time between rank 3 and rank 15 and the rank 15s typically play better and get more bp if that makes any sense.
Yeah in other words killers would have to rely on using their powers to get downs. Whereas for example right now you could play say trapper and get 0 people caught in traps, but he's fast enough you can just run people down to get a few.
yeah, but if that's the case might as well play huntress or clown. I really think trapper needs more base traps and faster setting and pickup time. Some killers I feel need customized speeds where they are tweaked higher depending on how well they perform. Freddy could be at 120% Trapper and Pig at 118% Doc at 117% Clown and wraith and leatherface 116% they don't have to just be at a standard speed I feel like that's slightly lazy for the devs to just standardize most killers speeds. This would force survivors to do different strats with different killers instead of just running loops over and over again especially since most of these killers are already countered by exhaustion perks and pallets. I also think that pallet and gen kick speeds need some tweaks and that's something they could customize and tweak as well.
EDIT: Idk what they could do about powers since I feel like that the add on system just needs tweaks and adjustment. Trapper is way different with both iridescent add ons, but even then he's less of a threat than no add on nurse.
Yeah just an idea. I agree though, trapper still needs massive buffs.

Anyway, I hope they take their time and do it properly the first time because it sucks to have freddys/pigs/bubbas that wait ages for a rework
Offtopic: the devs want to rework pig and leatherface aswell? Never heard that saying from them, thought freddy is the only one who gets the rework (first at least).
I wouldn't use the word rework. Think update, as in bake more power into base kit, less addon reliant, fix some of their issues like pigs crouch/ambush. It's not a freddy level rework.

lets be honest here:
doc is pretty much the only killer who can make use out of this perk by eliminating one of his counter plays.like, as soon as you leave a locker once you are notified that the killer runs it by giving you the exposed status effect, so you will probaply never go in a locker ever again in this trial. if you are in a SWF group, no one will go in a locker anymore.
this perk is too weak to even be a threat, so you will see literally no one use this perk in competetive and serious rounds.
i can see this perk being used in troll builds though...This basically ^^
It's a highly situational perk that will basically never be used or be worth a perk slot bar troll builds/maybe doctor.
Two-fold issue: The perk is broken with the Doctor (like BBQ & Chili is with Hillbilly), or the Doctor is broken with the perk.
And lockers are otherwise not very valuable against everyone else.
So, either lockers must change, or/and Doctor must change in tandem.
It's not broken with doctor whatsoever. Heck I probably wouldn't even run it on doctor myself. The locker is just preventing you from getting found. Once they see the debuff and that the doctor has Iron Maiden they will stop using lockers. You don't need lockers when you can just loop.

I actually absolutely detest Myers. I get punished for trash teammates that feed him stalk. It's already a team game and Myers makes you get extra punished for your team, a feature not too enjoyable in solo que.

You realize you can just watch out for traps or not walk through grass and you just made him waste 2 pink addons right? It's also pretty bad that you chose to nit pick pink addons on one of the weakest killers in the game. Kinda kicking him why he's down eh?
That said, aside from MAYBE a couple exceptions, most pink addons are pretty trash. Most of the killerse best addons are their very-rares. EVEN THEN, they are ultra-rares, meaning the killer has very few of them to use.

If you say every time someone downs is because it was situational, then that isn't the perks problem, it's the crappy player or the crappy survivors.
The perk itself isn't a problem. If we assume both the killer and survivor are playing optimally and it's abusable to where it's an issue, that is how we know it's a problem. We don't balance things with the assumption of people being stupid. The perk didn't help him because he played that in a stupid way, a survivor not playing dumb would have got away there and looped you for a while.

(Play Nurse or Billy) --> https://www.twitch.tv/deadbydaylight/clip/EnchantingWimpyPelicanBrainSlug?filter=clips&range=7d&sort=time
(Play survivor or something else min 0:55..) -->
I would like to add a new, famous, quote from the recent stream - "(...) Legion has trouble finishing the business (downing the survivor) and that's fine!' - so basically they know they (Legion) are weak and "it is fine".
"We should play Billy/Nurse". They just release trash content, know it, but still want money for it. Hilarious.
I'm done, I'm not going to support this company anymore.
Same here. I have all of the DLCs, but the next one will be the first I won't buy.
I have 3 DLCs, but from now on I'm going to get everything with shards.
I bought the Clown with shards, now I am going to buy the Legion with them. I am not supporting this "only-fun-but-for-survivors" mindset.
I'll also only be using shards until I see some meaningful changes.

Actually, I think his perks are complete trash. None of them will be used outside of a meme build. They seem to think killers have a lot more empty perks slots available for highly situational perks than they do. Even in the rare situation where those perks DO shine, they look bad. If were gonna get a highly situational perk that rarely comes into play, it's gotta be on the verge of broken if that time actually does show up and that's just simply not the case.
-
It's less an issue with her deviousness gain and more an issue in that it relies on her using her arguably unviable ambush. What needs the fix is her crouch/ambush to be actually worth using more. It's only sometimes worth using and I'd argue that even those times it only worked because the survivor was dumb. They released her and left her in a gimped state imo.
-

I'm interested how loosely they interpret "working together" as well. I mean I was on trapper and a random feng kept pointing at bill. I hooked them both but when they got rescued and I had to pick one I decided on bill since I figured if she was doing that it was probably for a good reason, I would've just been picking one randomly after all. In after game chat I decided to throw feng to the exit gate and let her live because honestly I just found her pretty funny with her goofing around. Now the bill and another accused me of working together with the random feng I didn't know and reported me for it.
Now is this really reportable? She was a random person I didn't know that was acting goofy and I decided to have fun playing along. I feel like the real "working together" is more referring to people that actually know each other and plan it out to have an advantage in games and screw everyone over.
(Real reason I find out in after game chat for her pointing at him was that he was spamming racial slurs at them all randomly before the game started)
@Peanits Is this actually something I can get banned for randomly doing? I did not think so but I won't if it is and happens to show up again.

I'd say a limited time after the gates are opened then they shut again would probably be a neat concept to try out.
That's what I was thinking. To where they'd have to re open them again. However, I'm deciding how that would work since there is a gap of space between the exit line and where the door opens. Would it just shove them out of that area when they re-close? lol
Wondering how to make that smoother.

People just throw this killer main or survivor main crap around when someone disagrees with them. That said, I get skeptical of anyone that even uses those terms. Most people that have played this game for a long time and are experienced don't use those terms for obvious reasons. The only people that throw those words around are usually newer players that don't know what they're talking about.

I find it a little comical that they dictate "fun" by their own interpretation. A lot of "fun" for me and it seems many others is winning, as I enjoy the competitiveness of games. "Fun" for me isn't a carebear experience where everyone wins. Clearly this doesn't apply to everyone and that's the whole point. "Fun" is different for everyone so their base design philosophy is bad since they even said themselves that "strong" isn't included in their "fun" definition and that's what is scaring us all, as well as in itself explains a lot of bad design decisions they have made thus far. I also hate when they over exaggerate things, saying we want a strong killer does not mean we want a killer stronger than nurse/billy, it just means we want a viable rank 1 killer which is not unreasonable.

They should be aiming for every killer to at least be viable at rank 1. Right now there are quite a few who aren't and they don't seem to have improved on this.Haven't the developers even said on livestream that they don't want every killer to be balanced around rank 1 plays?
Now that's a design choice that I cannot find logical.I disagree, to an extent.
This is not Overwatch, Smite, League, or any kind of competitive-focused game. While balance is a priority in an asymmetrical game, it's illogical to balance every single thing (like these games with leagues and a HUGE competitive scene) around the highest level of play.
If it's not competitive focused, it's logical to make sure all of your playerbase gets accommodated to, from a business standpoint also.
This not an e-sports game. It's something you pick up for your teenage child or if you're just interested in it yourself, and of course some people are going to grind the hell out of it, or play it mostly, and become really good. But fortunately, the entire playerbase does not do that. You cannot offset beginners with having Killers really, really hard for them either. Given how inefficient the Rank system is too.
In my personal opinion, it would be nice to have a new killer designed to be viable in higher ranks more often. It's not hard to learn the game anyway.
It should be competitive based. There's a reason so many games are doing that now, it makes money. Also has the nice effect of actually giving the player base balance.
"You cannot offset beginners with having Killers really, really hard for them either" Players leave games because they are too easy, very rarely is it because they are too hard. People learn to play better, you don't just lower the bar to them. People like a challenge. That said, this game is quite new player friendly in terms of difficulty.
"Given how inefficient the Rank system is too." This seems like what the real problem is.

Your suggestion is a bit extreme, but something does need to be done about survivors who refuse to leave. And the lone survivor who sticks around after everyone else is gone to search for the hatch (like no bonus reward for using the hatch after any other survivor has escaped through the exit gates).I also think DS should not work once the gates are powered or the hatch is open, to discourage the survivors who save their DS to troll the killer at the end of the game. It's not fun to down someone at the exit gate only for them to use DS and run right out. There is no counter to that as a killer (no hook would be close enough to dribble them to, there's no way to position yourself in a way that blocks them from getting through the exit, and you can't even slug them because they can easily crawl out).
That kinda reminds me, making DS and BT have a negative of not working once the gates are powered would be a nice drawback to using the perk.
-

I bring that up, because you talk about how broken a perk a is, for you ds is broken, for me it's broken that the only pallet i used in a whole game was insta destroyed, i got 1 shot with noed and facecamped, but whatever at this point, whatever i say you just gonna say it's nonsense too and that i pull "this crap" out of nowhere, that i dont know what im talking about cus i havent been on rank 1 killer. Again and i will keep saying this, i dont know what kind of survivors you have to face that make the game so unplayable due to 1 perk, but on my side, when im at rank 1, i never escape, if i use ds adrenaline or whatever, and even if i dont, there are no games where i dont get tunneled and facecamped, maybe it's my region? Cus im south american? i have no clue man, but from my pov at least where i play, survivors at rank 1 never escape due to lots of bming from killer side, but u prolly dont care, you are just another killer main who hates ds and will hate every survivor who runs it at this point so whatever lolBTW idk if links are allowed, but i was watching a stream, and hey look at this:
https://clips.twitch.tv/PrettiestObliqueStinkbugRlyThoYou are damn right, ds is broken pls fix it lmao
First, that video was a bug that was fixed in the latest patch so is quite irrelevant.
If you think lots of those things are broken then make a thread about that. This is a thread about DS.
You are also misunderstanding when I say things are nonsense or crap. Look back at every time I said that. Every time was because you brought up something completely off topic and unrelated to DS..NONE of it was about your explanations of why you think what you do, it was you getting off topic. You even do this again in your last comment "when im at rank 1, i never escape, if i use ds adrenaline or whatever, and even if i dont, there are no games where i dont get tunneled and facecamped, maybe it's my region? Cus im south american? i have no clue man, but from my pov at least where i play, survivors at rank 1 never escape". This is what i'm talking about. We aren't debating whether sides are balanced, fair, or if people are playing in a fun way, this is a thread ABOUT DS.
I'm also not a "killer main" and idk why you would think that. I play both sides at rank 1 regularly. I hate DS because it is a free escape that the killer has no counter to and is simply punished for doing what he's supposed to. It also wastes time that the killer does not have in the games current balance. None of the killers abilities are absent of counters.

There just seems to be so much rant after one measley nerf to BBQ and everyone is losing their minds. If you’re using the “it’s 4 VS 16 perks argument” I’m jus tgoing to stop trying to reason with you. You should know why, if not then I’m sorry you need to take some survivor education classes. Dude you probably don't even have 1/10 of my hours in this game much less rank 1 on both sides, clearly with your uninformed opinions. If I NEED to show you my rank 1 at both sides right now I will.
You’re just proving you’re either too killer sided or don’t understand logic when you say “4 perks vs 16” I play both sides at rank 1 regularly, there is no "killer sided" and I highly doubt those hours. Link it. Here’s the type of killer logic you’re using “Mr. Rank 1”
“If Claudette dies she’s gonna let the Feng use her BT. Then if Feng dies she’ll let Claudette use her Lithe.”
Thats your “4 perks VS 16” logic right there.
Firstly, no link, because you're clearly lying.
Second, no, that's not the logic i'm using. Then again, how would you even know, you jumped to insults before even having a conversation.
4v16 meaning you bring certain perks to counter survivor perks but you can't counter all 16 with just your 4.
So you’re saying by your “logic” that there’s no possible way a killer can use 4 perks to counter 16, not even redundant perks?? Listen, you’re clearly one sided no matter what you think. You sound like you only live for Killer, clearly you still think all 16 perks being used in one game are completely different from each other EVEN if the survivors are running the exact same perks.
4v16 is to express a point, not to literally mean every single perk will be different and 4 perks are not enough to counter 16 unless literally every single survivor has the exact same 4 perks. I don't live for killer, just unlike you, I actually play both sides at a high rank and know what's balanced and what isn't. It's quite clear at this point that you are a new player to this game and trying to explain these things to you is getting no where. You're being belligerent and arrogant while also not having enough experience in the game to understand. It's clear you're going no where so I'm done here.

I’ve been playing since the Beta, over 4000 hours currently. Don’t try that with me. If I NEED to show you my rank 1 at both sides right now I will.
You’re just proving you’re either too killer sided or don’t understand logic when you say “4 perks vs 16”
I play both sides at rank 1 regularly, there is no "killer sided" and I highly doubt those hours. Link it.

Ask for a realistic WGLF buff, then? I don't believe a soul is stopping you. IIRC WGLF was adjusted because it encouraged unhooking people directly in front of a killer, and other potato tactics, though. Killers need to have fun, or at the least feel like they're accomplishing something in the face of the crap survivors put them through (Especially SWF having fun at the killer's expense), and it's only going to get worse with the new survivor and aura blocker lockers. So, yeah, why not make a perk better towards this goal?
There just seems to be so much rant after one measley nerf to BBQ and everyone is losing their minds. Meanwhile, survivors are still farming teammates with WGLF and just adding BT to not lose the points.
It seems minuscule to you because you aren't seeing what it will cause. I always leave hook for a bbq target unless i see a survivor or scratchmarks by the hook. After this change when I see no one with bbq I'm going to assume they are around the hook and not leave. This change literally discourages me from playing a way that makes the game more fun for all. This change is going to make camping skyrocket.
Also in regards to your other comment. it's 4 perks vs 16 perks, that's why WGLF isn't completely equal to BBQ. You as a sole survivor are not supposed to be equal to the killer in a 1v4.

I really hope so. The winter theme was my favorite.

No one's asking for a BBQ buff, we're saying the locker aura block is gonna be bad for the games health. Also, WGLF is far from useless, it's literally a perk I never take of because of all the extra BP's it gives.
I don't think you are seeing the ramifications of this aura blocking on the game if it goes through.

Last second switchers just get tunneled
-
No one said he wasn't playable, just that on average you're gonna have a bad time unless the survivors just play dumb.
-
I'd mostly agree. I would just put clown above pig and possibly above myers. I definitely wouldn't consider him low tier though.

Spirit is a guessing game though. They can screw it up.Thats why you see many her dont user her power in a chase. They walk away from the hook then phase walk back to try and tunnel someone getting unhooked. This is why I hate going against her.
Bilyls chainsaw though I agree with you on that. Far too much payoff for something which isnt really hard to hit with at all given a few simple addons.
Billy's chainsaw does have way too much payoff for very little downsides and is highly forgiving given its radius and animation recovery. Billy is one of the killers I hate facing for this reason, one of the only 2 killers that have me feeling "cheated" of sorts when I go down. Contrast that to something polar opposite of that like the spirit, where it really feels like a fair battle of skill in the mind game and if I go down it's because I was outplayed for sure.

lets be honest here:
doc is pretty much the only killer who can make use out of this perk by eliminating one of his counter plays.like, as soon as you leave a locker once you are notified that the killer runs it by giving you the exposed status effect, so you will probaply never go in a locker ever again in this trial. if you are in a SWF group, no one will go in a locker anymore.
this perk is too weak to even be a threat, so you will see literally no one use this perk in competetive and serious rounds.
i can see this perk being used in troll builds though...This basically ^^
It's a highly situational perk that will basically never be used or be worth a perk slot bar troll builds/maybe doctor.

This isnt what im asking for either, but you make legit no sense, saying that killer is harder to play and 1 perk can break a whole game, when it's way easier to get high rank as killer than survivor, and even at high ranks, i still see survivors use ds and go down INSTANTLY, i would even record it and make a whole clip showing how 90% of survivors who ds get insta down, myself included sometimes thanks to enduring and being far away from pallets or windows, the game doesnt have x2 million pallets like before, i was chase by a wraith who never chased me in a whole game, first time he chases me, i use 1 pallet in all a game, spirit fury comes up, 1 hit 1 shot noed, facecamped till i die, and that is fair on most of your eyes.. but cleansing at totem is not cus it's unfair towards the killer.. At this point playing survivor is toxic and unfair, if you are gonna complain at every little thing a survivor does (cleansing a totem, dropping pallets, looping aka trying to survive, using ds to not get moried or camped or give it more time) dont even bother playing killer, and learn from killers like truetalent, he did complain about ds but he's not bitching on the forums to please nerf it, and we can even see on his videos he runs the most random perks ever and still gets 4k at rank 1, even against swf, if he can do it, any of you can, if he did it when killer was weak, even more you can now, this is all pretty much a killer baby cry towards 1 perk that only 10% of survivors know how to really use good, again while most of them use it and miss or use it and go down instantly.Dude, common. You say I'm making no sense and then you say more nonsense like "if you are gonna complain at every little thing a survivor does (cleansing a totem, dropping pallets, looping aka trying to survive, using ds to not get moried or camped or give it more time)" NO ONE HAS SAID THIS, especially not me. Where are you pulling this crap from?
"he's not bitching on the forums to please nerf it" Sense when is talking about how a perk is an issue and needs to be fixed "bitching"? Just because you fail to see its issue doesn't make it bitching. You don't see the perks issue because you have no experience with it at rank 1. I seriously don't mean this in a degrading way whatsoever, but you literally just don't have experience in the matter. Not playing rank 1 killer with low hours means you havn't seen the issues we are talking about. That's like me telling an aeronautical engineer that's building a plane that he's doing it wrong because I've road in a plane before, I just wouldn't do that, I'm not experienced with it. Aside from all that, truetalent as well as the devs both agree it's a broken perk, how is this debatable to you? This is universally accepted by almost everyone on both sides aside from the few that havn't played the game enough to understand why, like your case. I say this as fact, not as me trying to belittle you in any way.
"i was chase by a wraith who never chased me in a whole game, first time he chases me, i use 1 pallet in all a game, spirit fury comes up, 1 hit 1 shot noed, facecamped till i die, and that is fair on most of your eyes" Why even bring this up? This has absolutely nothing to do with what we are talking about and I never said that was fair, you are assuming a lot of things.
-
That and maybe doctor will be the only times you'll ever see this perk.

Kind of like what happened to totem fixes, DS nerf and Freddy changes. They are being worked on....for over a year. The process of going from idea to plan to execution in this game is like a year+ for changes. The last time they went from planning to execution ASAP was when Freddy was gutted. Is that what you want?
I don't think 1 change is a very good sample size to derive future expectations.

Yeah servers are down for me as well, Error 8014

It is a pretty over the top nerf, the locker effect should at least be baked into Distortion so it requires them to use a perk for it.
That said, the change in general is bad for the health of the game. I always leave hooks for a BBQ target unless i literally see someone or scratch marks right by the hook. After this change it's going to be very likely it shows no one and I'm going to assume it's because they are by the hook and not leave. This change literally discourages me from playing a way that is more fun for everyone. It's going to backfire a lot when camping goes up even more.

Agreed. +1

I'd say a killer being mid-tier is pretty bad. To me, mid-tier means you can perform well but you require the survivors to make a lot of mistakes and I don't think that's a very strong place to be in where your success is dependent on survivors rather than your own skill. Depend on what you mean when you say mid tier. For me mid tier isn't like that. Your description for me fit better on mid-low/low tier. A mid tier for me is someone you can perform decently (2-3k on average) when you know what you can do and when mained be as solid as an average high tier. Like I would put the hag in mid tier for example, and i love her but if you play her casually you won't perform as good like using someone like huntress. In the other hand if you know where to put the traps, know how she works etc you can be as solid
Then there's the god tier which its been taken by just 2 killers and you can guess who
I mean mid-tier or low-mid those are pretty close. Our interpretation of mid-tier seems different as well. This can also very a lot depending who you put in that mid-tier. For example you mentioned hag, I would not put hag in mid-tier.
yeah I guessed it. I always get confused a bout that since I have a personal tier list in mind but never checked if there is an official one or something. I saw some like tydetime or ardetha tier list but I always kept mine as main idea until I see an ""official"" one
Like I put hag there cuz with her you can be very scary if you main her. Even if she's more mid-high while clown mid-low.. Still, she's easy to beat if the person who uses her don't know how to "abuse" the traps, like for example making the survivor turn in a way during a chase, cut loops etc
Hard to master with an average reward
Higher tier is easier to master compared to hag (arguably) and even get higher rewards
I am basing a killers tier strength assuming they are played perfectly and the survivors are playing perfectly. Assessing somethings strength with the assumption of the person being stupid or playing dumb is a bad way to come at that assessment and is what has led to a lot of the game imbalances we have today.
I'd put clown at mid-high..at least.
