  • I'd be on board as well for some dev props if they had actually given us some meaningful legion buffs. It's left a bitter taste.

    Hey 👏
    Here's a thought 👏
If you disagree with someone 👏
    Write a reply 👏
    It's Easy 👏
Once you get the hang of it 👏
Now everybody clap yo hands 👏👏👏👏👏

    And I do. Someone's triggered 👏

  • No, it shouldn't be taken away and for that matter the down vote shouldn't have been taken away either. We need a way to tell people and devs especially that we disagree with their opinions and actions. Sorry but the world already has enough safe spaces to ago around.

It's a start. Remember the Spirit took a few updates to get to where she is now.

    This addresses the vital stuff.

    • The double fatigue was really crippling him and a lot of players simply didn't grasp the idea of manually cancelling the frenzy, probably because it felt unintuitve.

    • The vault distance is a good fix as a lot of people were exploiting this on the PTB

    • Mend sound is good. Gives the Legion a chance at finding people mending nearby.

    • Progress reset, needed. Made no sense why it didn't reset if hit again, probably an oversight.

They've fixed the essentials or things that were probably oversights. In terms of buffs I think they will come like they did with Spirit. I just think they want to wait and see how it goes. They'll probably monitor peoples feedback and gameplay footage and see what needs doing after. Then introduce little buffs here and there so he isn't overdone. I think Bricky said it best when he described Legion as being on a see-saw in terms of balance.

The only thing that's concerning to me is the fact that the mending time goes down while mending. I get why they did this. People could run, mend, run, mend, like they used to with self-care and bump it up bit by bit. This forces you when the bar gets low enough to stand and mend fully, and if you get interrupted then you're going down. I just hope he doesn't become incredibly annoying to go up against as a survivor. I mean look at Freddy, he's weak but most people find him the most annoying killer.

We basically just got bug fixes for him. Not really any buffs. He's a tricky one to balance but that's on them since they made it.

  • I actually don't mind spending the money because I like to support the games I play. That said, I'll just be using shards for all DLC's until I see actually meaningful changes that aren't laughable.

Yeah I won't be spending anymore money till I see some actual changes.

I kinda understand the decisions that are being made, from a business point of view. These and all the similar threads (including those talking about how nurse wouldn't see scratch marks if released today), are probably started - and kept relevant by - players with somewhat a large amount of experience in the game. How many of those players are there, as opposed to newer players? The ones getting it for free with PS plus? The ones buying it at any of the multiple sales and discounts?

New players wanting to try the killer side are going to have success (and/or fun) with the Legion nonetheless, because they will be playing against (mostly) new players also. As long as you keep attracting a new player base constantly, I don't see the need of catering to all the grumpy old players' needs (who tend to express their concerns with a heavy one-sided bias). That may be why it looks like the game is being balanced for low-rank play.

Now, there are 4 new survivor-choosing players for every new player choosing killer. Anyone can draw conclusions from that.

Finally, if the game reaches a state which more experienced players may perceive as unfair, too one-sided or just unfun to play at, two things may happen: minor tweaks to keep the old guys there, or old guys moving on to other games. No one is forced to buy or play anything. After all, I think that 200 hours are more than enough value for any videogame price tag. There are guys with 2000+ hours on this??!! Tell me what other entertainment product will give you that for $40 or $50?

Sooner or later, it will be time to move on.

Yeah I've got well over 2000 hours, never said it wasn't worth the money. Just referencing future spending.

I guess your theory all depends on if forsaking player retention for a constant new player stream will yield better results.

  • I'd put spirit over hag.

My first thought was: Okayish changes, but doesn't fix issues like survivors not healing against Legion etc. The fact that downing decent survivors is way too hard, while getting a frenzy hit is too easy. I know Legions design is based on getting easy first strikes, but really I only see issues with that. Has too many chances for frustration.
Besides that I belong to the group of people dealing with perfomance issues with the engine changes. So I already knew I will have to hold back buying the new DLC on Launch, depending how the game runs after patch. But after reading this... I've decided to wait anyway.
Spirit already was launched in a way they didn't intended and basicly finished balancing wise with the MidChapter patch. A few weeks after that Spirit DLCs was already in sale.
Legion looks like they won't be properly balanced befor MidChapter. And who knows how fast the next DLC might get in sale as well. No I will sit this one out. I'm too unsatisfied with recent killer designs. Even the AddOns are quite boring mostly simple value changing ones.

Yeah I won't be spending anymore money till I see some actual changes.

Man those are some trash changes just like where they decided to leave the new killer..in the trash. Those changes are QoL at best, definitely not the buff he needed.

I doubt he will be buffed to a point where he is as viable as top tier killers. They can't the way he is designed, sadly, otherwise survivor would hate him more than Doctor probably. Problem is, the survivor is in very little control during the chase against the Legion, Either he is Frenzy mode, where survivors can't do anything against him, or he plays like 110% M1 killer, in which survivors have a very easy time looping him. So it's essentially get hit twice while Legion is in Frenzy, wait, get hit again while Legion is in Frenzy, wait, and then get hit again while Legion is in Frenzy and go down. I feel like the devs forgot to take into account how playing against The Legion will be as survivor. Part of a killers design is always how survivors can defend themselves against the Killer, and with legion there's little survivors can do to affect the chase in anyway.

    Basically yeah.

No one is going to heal against him making his power on the verge of worthless. Then we're all going to either loop him the entire game because he's a hag with no traps or he's gonna eventually get us like you said...after using his power 4 times...LOL. There goes 3 gens.

I know. I love the idea of this killer, pretty much having abilities of survivors, but the way it works right now is not good. He's either underpowered, or he'll become by far the most hated killer in the game. And we don't need more players stop playing survivor. Survivors already have to deal with insane frustrations like getting camped or tunneled.

Though the double stun removal could help him a bit

Double stun removal was the only real change but that was more just a big fix than a buff. None of their changes made him any more viable whatsoever.

  • Honestly after their Legion changes I'd put him below freddy. At least freddy has full movespeed and doesn't need 4 hits to down someone.

  • The devs are so out of touch. Nurse released today would have only 1 blink and wouldn't see scratch marks. Oh yeah and no addons that add extra blinks at all.

  • Absolute trash changes, just like where the killer is left. These changes are QoL at BEST, definitely not the buffs he needed. They fixed none of his core issues whatsoever. They are seriously so out of touch with their game. Dudes gonna be dumped next to freddy on release.

  • Where are you seeing this?

  • Interesting. So it keeps being taken away as generators are completed and then reapplied as you hit any of them again?

I really like this. Seems pretty fair and balanced to me as well. It isn't strong enough in its current form to be a hex that's so easily removed.

A large amount of toxicity is from the game being unbalanced. There will always be toxicity, but it would reduce drastically if we had more balance.

Toxicity has always, even in the first beta and release, come primarily from Survivors.
True infinites were exploited to hell and beyond for the sake of them being douches.
Hostage taking situations.. post-game chat toxicity..

It has always boiled down to survivors surviving 'too well'. When they're too safe, they become cocky.

    Exactly lol

  • There is no counter, that's why there are only a few viable high rank killers. You're only shot here is a mindgame. If they're good and don't fall for the mindgames you just lose a lot of time..and even harder because you lost more distance with a failed mindgame. This gets even worse on maps that have the wooden walls because then they can even see through the walls so there's absolutely no chance you're mindgaming them when they have no blind spots.

TLDR: There is no counter if they're good, you're just boned. If they're bad, you might get a lucky mindgame. The outcome is decided by the survivor.

  • A large amount of toxicity is from the game being unbalanced. There will always be toxicity, but it would reduce drastically if we had more balance.

  • I just think some of the maps need more lockers so you waste less walking time.

It's a balance issue, not dodging issue. They dodge because the game isn't balanced well and they want to reduce that imbalance as much as possible ie tooldboxes/flashlights/swf. If the game was more balanced, killers wouldn't care as much.

That said, it makes me think you're doing swf or something. I only solo and I get dodged once MAYBE every 12 games if that and my survivors are full p3'd out.

No, I get dodged quite a bit and probably because of other people who are in the lobby with me or if we pop up at the same time. When I play swf it's usually only 2 of us.

Also people are still whining about flashlights? It's not a white screen anymore and the pick up animation is SO fast that if you not already in front of them you're not getting the blind, and toolboxes are countered by ruin. Yeah you can hit the great skill checks but not all survivors will be able to do it, I guarantee at least 2 of them will waste time looking for the totem and die in the process.

I would I like dodge Spirits and Leatherfaces too, cause quit frankly I hate playing against them, but I don't have the luxury of knowing who the killer is going to be beforehand.

It has nothing to do with thinking flashlights are too strong, you misunderstand. A .5% difference in strength for example may be small but when you're already losing, you take every bit you can get. If you see what I'm saying.

Toolboxes are only countered by ruin if it's a bunch of rank 20's. At rank 1 they're hitting the skill checks and they aren't wasting time looking for ruin anyway because half the time it's sitting right there next to the gen.

Survivors aren't afforded that luxury of seeing the killer ahead of time because they are already at an advantage to begin with.

You know half the people at rank 1 are still trash right? lol I've been at rank 1 multiple times and I've had teammates who literally seem like they're playing with their eyes closed. The only thing that changed is that killers all have the same perks.

Quite frankly, they could make it so survivors get downed in 1 hit and remove all pallets from the game but the killers will always seem to be at a disadvantage apparently.

They are pretty bad, but those skill checks are still quite easy and irrelevant for what we're talking about.

Let's not speak in hyperbole please. I havn't said that and that's not what we're talking about.

  • If you're playing one of the base M1 killers you're in for a bad time and have no control over the game.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Ok so had a game of survivor now for my daily. I knew I was in for a bad game when the survivors in the lobby didn't correctly know how certain offerings worked.

Killer was the spirit. She got 2 hooks in about the first minute. I unhook both then the killer comes after me. I looped her for absolutely ages. Around the shack, to the asylum, inside the asylum, out and in again.

Know how many gens were done? Not a single one. In high rank 3 would have popped easily in that timeframe.

I get a yellow toolbox and start rushing gens. We get a few done but then those other survivors start dropping likes flies again. I do my second gen and give the Spirit a tour of loop town again. Gen progress is still slow. 1 person gets eliminated.

Now another gets hooked but I'm busy rushing the last gen. We get it done and 2 of us manage to make it out of the exit gate. I never went down that entire game.

Now here lies the problem and the problem is the ranking system.

I'm not going to blame those other survivors. They were obviously new to the game and didn't yet know how to play the game well. They made poor decisions - an example being a nea got saved with borrowed time and bill ran trying to take hits for her anyway. He wouldnt leave her. Survivors always do this. This let the spirit get 2 down together. Again it's not their fault. We were all new once.

You can imagine how frustrating this is for me though someone with much more experience. I feel like I'm doing most of the work. I loop the killer but they barely do gens. So I do gens but they go down in 10 seconds. I want to play with people on a similar skill level to me.

Then we imagine how it was for the Spirit. Another novice DBD player with only 1 perk - Rancor. She couldn't catch me at all while I alone looped and juked her and cost her the game. We've all been there when we started playing, looped all game. It's not a nice feeling at all. That person deserves to play with people on their own skill level.

As killer if I get reset to low rank I can quickly rank up and play with people with a similar skill level to mine. Its very easy to get 2 pips too.

However as a survivor its harder. Because its not about my skill anymore, its about the skill of the team. Some survivors just go down in about 10 seconds. They die so fast that almost every game becomes a long, dull hatch camp. Plus its harder to score. You need unhook points but theres 3 people all fighting for the unhooks, or theres killers camling which stops you.

I think the monthly reset needs to go. Unless you plan to put in the hours to rank up each month you'll always be reset at low ranks - and low ranks is just not fun. You feel frustrated by killers who camp because theh don't know any better, or survivors who struggle to last long in a chase because they don't have much experience with the game. It's such a chore to level up because again your team goes down so fast that its mostly one long hatch camp after another. Plus as said before it's really awful for the killers, having that one person survivor who obviously has far more hours on the game than you do and so you can never catch them.

The conclusion of all of this:

It's too easy to rank up as both survivor and killer.

People are artificial raised up to ranks they shouldn't be at and that's why the ranking system is still flawed.

  • This is why a killer is smart to tunnel. It's the most efficient move.

  • It's a balance issue, not dodging issue.

I would be fine with most of these. Though the higher crouch viewpoint seems like it could be weird if the camera is above where her eyes actually are. Unless you are suggesting that she doesn't crouch as low to the ground?

I don't agree about the reverse bear trap timer though. The survivors absolutely should have this information.

Her current viewpoint in crouch is at her knees, I just want it higher to match her actually face.

I was thinking that timer change because then the survivors will have to tell how close it is based on how fast the beeping on it speeds up as it get closer. It doesn't reduce the time, just as some fear factor. Maybe don't let the killer see it either.

Seems you are balancing them around a swf group which have some heavy implications on the solo's. They must be more deadly, because survivors doesnt care about this traps.
"Oh, 4 survivors wears traps, lets make gens."

Survivor should be punished if they activated a trap.

Stridor is a must on Spirit. Your phase walk becomes inescapable with it, and it trumps Iron Will which is a hard counter to Spirit's power.

After that it's kind of preference. I usually run BBQ/Whispers, MYC, and Sloppy/Ruin. It's a strong snowball build.

People above have Devour and Haunted Grounds, IMO that's just a gimmick. Most of the time I play against a Spirit (or any killer using the Hex build) more often than not moments after HG procs, Devour goes down. I feel like against good survivors it just doesn't work because they will rush your totems anyway and hide until Exposed is gone. You're only going to get value from Hex builds on Lery's or Game.

    This +1

I play her regularly as my main at rank 1 and decimate. BBQ+MYC is godly on her and Stridor is so good since it's all about the sound. Last choice is just up to you for your slow down perk. I bounce between Sloppy or Ruin, personally I like the early Ruin slow down more I think, but it's preference. That is her best set up and I feel pretty strongly on that. A lot of those other perks are just like fox said, "gimmicky".

  • Supposedly they are working on a secondary objective to add in. Nothing to show yet though.

  • This would really be a nice QoL change.

Proof doesn’t matter to @blueberry he just taunts players into it thinking they won’t show proof, then when you do there’s nothing he can say.

I stream on twitch, would you like me to go live right now so you can see my hours, rank, and game play of both sides? You talk a lot of smack with nothing to back it up, I've got all the proof behind my claims.

You didn't show me anything on the last thread, a couple pictures of you at rank 1 means absolutely nothing. I stopped responding because you've made it quite clear your lack of IQ has lead you be unable to follow any coherent train of thought, not because you proved anything.

Lastly, "diss people who have an opinion against killers" I have done nothing of the such and your hypocrisy is glaring. You literally even came to this page to comment on me about absolutely nothing to do with the thread but to try and taunt me.

Stop being a crybaby, you asked for proof of Rank 1 on both sides and I gave it to you, completely disregarding 90% of everything you said in that post. When I did you were nowhere to be found.

I think making him a burst killer would be really fun and unique, but he feels like a gimmick right now and when the illusion of your power making a difference shatters, he just loses his appeal. He does basically nothing.

Yea, but would it be fun to play against. You realize people need to have fun to play a game and to continue to play it, right?

With the changes he sounds pretty fun to play against to me.

I read your posts. One of the most biased individuals on these forums. I most certainly don't respect your opinion or what you would consider "fun".

I find that quite ironic since you were the one that asked me a question.

Regardless, I am not biased at all, I play both sides at rank 1 regularly. However, I doubt you could say the same.

Look who it is accusing people of not playing both sides. Sounds like you need to get put in your place again 🤨

Oh you mean I need to put you in time out again?

You already got taught a lesson that you didn't learn last time, let's not embarrass yourself more

@Blueberry: I’ll just pretend to play both sides and diss people who have an opinion against killers, then I’ll make them show they play both sides to get away with it, since they won’t do it anyway.

forum member: shows proof they play both sides

    @Blueberry :

Grins look up redsopine1's live dbd game (I pay both and constantly live stream games just have 3 typo f13 games with dbd on them but I got proof there for you more killer but now doing more survivor to balance it out)

They also said that they listen to the community. And from what i see they just don't want to do a quality of life change...

Speaking of QoL stuff, when are they going to make it where when survivors die they can't see the killers perks and ad ons till end of game? So that SWF can't tell the others what perks the killer has when they die.

It's still a work in progress. On that 2+ year completion plan.

  • P2P wouldn't even make my top 10 list of issues for the game. Join lobby, look at ping, stay or leave if. Zero issues.

  • I'd just like the spirit to be a little less addon dependent, I think she's in a good spot. She feels like one of the most fair killers to go against for me. It's a battle of the mindgames and if I got hit it's because I actually got outplayed.

Even if you especially find her annoying she can be countered quite easily with perks like Premonition, Spine Chill and Iron Will.

  • I'd like to see the kill ratios split by rank and killer. They have showed us this, but with heavily flawed data that can't really be taken seriously. Along with those stats, they need to show how many hooks those deaths on average took AND how many of the deaths occurred AFTER the gates were powered.

Their stats are heavily flawed because I believe that the majority of those kills are from a camping scenario or an after gates powered NOED/survivors trolling around. These two scenarios are important because the devs look at the kill ratios and think the killers must be fine because they are averaging two kills. While in reality I don't think they're averaging those kills because they are at a good balance level, they are averaging those kills because of those above scenarios which aren't about good balance.

They're just misinterpreting their data and I think that extra info would help to highlight that for them.

  • I know they will have a santa clown but yeah I wish we had more winter themed outfits as well.

  • I just hope they separate the leaderboards by killer and don't lump them all together.

    Possibly tommorow

This is my hope. Seeing as they only have 2-3 week tops before it's released they have to make changes on the PTB very quickly to give us time to test it again.

I don't know if I'd assume a DS in that algorithm. That said, I do agree with you. I'd say most people just don't find it as fun, not really as unfair.

    DS is endemic in DbD.

That's true, but not enough for an auto assume imo. Regardless it's a nuance to the main point either way I suppose.

  • If they made ranks actually matter and added a rank reward we'd probably see a lot less DC's. That said it's "being worked on" by the team for maybe a year+ now...

Yeah, Legion's design is very poor tbh. Actually The Spirit is the best killer they've ever made imo. She's perfect in everything: backstory, power, perks, appearance. I honestly don't think they will make something better, but who knows, time will tell.

I'd have to agree, she seems like one of the better made killers they've done. Very strong, but also very counterable.
