Not saying I agree with OP, but in a sense, that kind of gameplay is already there. Conceptually, survivors get punished by being good in chases with Bloodlust.

By the same logic, the killers is penalised for being good by the survivor getting a speed boost when they get hit.

  • It probably won't be so bad for high-mobility killers like Blight & Billy, but pity poor Hag & Trapper in particular if they set up a nice trapped area then have to slowly traverse to the other side of the map to clear a Boon totem while having effectively lost all that setup time & effort.

That isnt bad though, as survivors would need to go out of their way to bless, and once it's gone, they permanently have 3 perks. As long as the recovery rate is less than walking recovery(aka, 25-50% normal recovery rate), it's fine. Really good survivors are already capable of using dead hard twice in 1 chase.

That's not so bad if you're playing a high-mobility killer like Blight, but imagine Trapper or Hag if they have to traverse to the other side of the map to get rid of a Boon totem?

I hope the balance team will consider nerfing the killer after 1-2 survivor deaths, otherwise the killer is too strong in this situation.

Remove skills like (Hex: no one escape death) to add more gaming space for killers and survivors.

Please protect the game experience of newcomers!

Newcomers, both survivors and killers, have no prep experience at all when they encounter high level opponents.

Wait .. so you want the killer to get punished for playing well.

    I wouldn't hold my breath...

  • Both Ruin and Undying have been nerfed so - no!

  • Given the current debacle where paid content isn't available and there's no discussion as to when this will be fixed nor any compensation for us not having access to characters we've paid for, my faith in BHVR is at an all-time low.

And you don´t seem to see my perspective. Bringing a Purple medkit with syringe but losing it after first chase because the killer decided to bring Franklin´s just doesen´t feel right (he might have brought it anyway because it´s in his perkbuild - yet he can simply destroy 4 items with one blow or just don´t bring franklins into the game, because he knew beforehand, that there would be no items. Stupid balancing.

It might be a hint to you that not even survivor mains are agreeing with any of your points here.

  • Yeah, I have to admit that I'm very cynical about whether BHVR are actually working on a key fix at all - I suspect they just said that to try to make people quiet down. They've made it pretty clear that it's not a priority for them despite how much it screws killers over.

  • Rather than balance or power changes I'd be firmly in favour of no new content for a year while they fix all existing bugs. There are plenty of bad bugs still in place after years - trivial example, those places where Nurse can't blink & winds up in fatigue despite not being able to use her power. The "dead hard to the ground" - and I hate Dead Hard, but it's still a bad bug. The messed up grabs/pallet issues. The list goes on for both sides!

  • Wait, you want to buff keys? Seriously??

  • I keep getting slaughtered, but I freely admit I'm a newbie killer - just over 100 hours. It's not been any fun mind.

  • I've played a few killer games (usually around rank 18 but down to rank 20 since I haven't played much lately) and I've been put up against survivor teams with multiple Brand New Parts and all meta perks and I have managed one kill over the lot.

MMR is not making my matches enjoyable in the slightest.

  • Why not go by hours ingame then? :)

True without a key in the game making it a 3v1 with 2 gens left is a valid if not scummy way to play. But this must be adapted with a key in play because playing this way is precisely what empowers the key.

How on earth is it "scummy" to remove someone from the game with 2 gens left? What, you expect the killer to let everyone survive until the gens are all done?

Irow will is powerful but it's not busted let's just call every powerful perk on both sides busted and ask for nerfs till we die

Given that there's an acknowledged bug where Iron Will is also incorrectly removing the breathing sounds from injured survivors it's clearly "busted" at the moment.

  • I feel that Iron Will shouldn't be such an absolute perk in that there is nothing that can adjust that value because IW has dropped it to zero. There are very few things in DBD that are completely absolute like this ... even if it dropped it to like 2% then there would be a chance to affect it but as it stands IW is a complete "Nope, nothing can counteract or affect this" which doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the perks on both sides.

And of course it's still bugged in regards to normal breathing sounds which they should have fixed when adjusting this.

  • @Rogue11 said:

I'm pretty sure stridor and the louder injured noises add on do stack. But they're now useless because Iron Will trumps them both after the patch.

Yeah, I don't have an issue with Iron Will getting a workover but that "drop to zero so no matter what nothing else can affect it no matter how much you stack" is overkill. Very few things in this game are absolute and not affected by anything like the new Iron Will is and I think it's a step in the wrong direction.

As the devs said they are fixing it it will be a non issue but until the fix yeah im prepared for more of the same killers

Yeah, but the devs also said they're fixing keys and Nurse's blink bugs and .... the list goes on. I wouldn't hold my breath. Shiny new content always has priority over fixing broken #########.

OH I am not going to argue against a gen speed rework if it comes tied with anti-camping mechanisms. I've been suggesting that solo gen speeds get slowed down massively, but co-op gen speeds are increased instead of decreased (Prove Thyself would need reworking) so that the safest gen-running tactic isn't also the most efficient one, and so that hooking or chasing a survivor takes away more gen progress than just that survivor's individual contribution.

EDIT: This is another reason I want camping gone. Any gen speed reduction or overall game slowdown would also be a buff to camping and would push it from 'Might get a 2K' strat to a '2K or better, guaranteed' strat. Camping is holding the entire game hostage.

optional secondary objectives won't do it. Just look at NoED; Survivors would rather ignore it, die to it, then whine that they can't lick gens for 5 minutes unpunished.

NOED has a design flaw where it discourages cleansing totems. It's way riskier to try and cleanse totems than it is to leave them up. If it were reworked to better enforce 'do bones' mentality, I'd even be up for it becoming baseline, just to get the totems more forcefully into the game.

Okay I'm pretty new here, can you please explain what you meant by this sentence, because I can't understand it:

"NOED has a design flaw where it discourages cleansing totems. "

How does NOED discourage cleansing? Firstly how could the Survivors know that the killer has NOED until it triggers and therefore it discourage cleansing? Even if you suspect the killer has it doesn't that encourage cleansing totems? Sorry, I'm just confused.

  • I'm just a baby killer (about 110 hours total, 60 of which were survivor) but I've had fun with my Best Boi Demo using Lightborn, Agitation & Mad Grit. :)

  • Yeah, so they screwed over the killers for MMR but didn't implement MMR so ... yay survivors win again?

  • @SilentPill said:

Tunneling is just going for the same guy over and over, slugging anyone trying to take hits. It’s not really tunneling if the survivors farmed the hook though.

Hooking one survivor, going across the map, getting another hook, and then coming back isn’t tunneling either. That’s more the survivors playing poorly enough that they are dying too fast.

Camping is camping, not much else to say about it. The killer defends an area and never leaves.

Question: With your definition of camping "The killer defends an area and never leaves." what is the killer supposed to do if it gets down to a well-grouped 3-gen? There is literally no value in going out hunting all over the map, especially if you're a low-mobility killer. Okay Billy can fly around trying to flush out survivors but Doctor? Nope!

  • @Venzhas said:

Yeah another tunneling topic, yeah we know the song its a legit strategy but wow, now as a solo Q I feel lucky when i'm matched with someone that doesn't hard tunnel every game, or camp

And there is most of the time no genrush, no toxicity, to me its not a question of counterplay, its just "i dont want to play fair, because i dont mind about other people fun so let's bully them for no reasons "

I had to bring back my DS which is, even added to BT, still not enough to counter it in my opinion

Plus this event is totally failed, the idea was to reunite people, but it divided more than ever.

I cant imagine new players on DBD how this behavior can keep them playing ?

This + lag issues = Unplayable game.

    No thanks

The interesting part I found of your argument is stating that the killers attitude is "i dont want to play fair".

Who defines what "fair" is? Sounds like you're attempting to impose Chapter 7 of The Survivors Rulebook for Killers.

"Fair" is what's defined as acceptable gameplay by BHVR. They've stated innumerable times that tunnelling (and there are a myriad of definitions for that term as this thread has shown) is perfectly acceptable.

The fact that other players don't want to play the game in a manner you prefer is, quite frankly, a "you" problem.

  • Plus the recent "fix" for Nemesis put invisible walls on boarded up windows etc so Trickster and Deathslinger can't shoot through them anymore.

  • Trickster (and Deathslinger) have also lost an advantage they had over Huntress, in that they used to be able to shoot through gaps in boarded windows etc. In "fixing" Nemesis the Devs have just put in an invisible wall so no more knives or harpoon through a bunch of tricky places that used to work.

    Well actually.... :)

Not a nerf to Nemesis, but now Trickster and Deathslinger also can't shoot through those gaps in the boarded windows, which they could until this release. So they've had one of their iconic abilities nerfed, yay BHVR using a dumptruck when a shovel will do.

I believe it makes you immune to the blind but not the stun.

    Yup!

  • Yeah, 58 here and feeling every year some days!

  • I think that the following is a bit too strong:

The strongest part about this perk is the global info part that tells everyone in your team that that gen is being worked on, so the average survivor won't bring the killer to that gen and help other people know they can stack in that area.

45 seconds of "Hey, this gen is being worked on across the map" is a bit much.

  • Given how they nerfed Franklin's to no longer affect keys, it's pretty obvious that they're not being honest with us about any rework on keys. We keep hearing "it's being worked on" but we've heard that for a long time now. The Mori nerf was swift and simple and as many people in this thread have stated a good key fix would also be swift and simple: Hatch doesn't show until only 1 survivor left or all gens done and keys only allow escape for the keyholder.

  • No, fixing bugs and making the game playable again would turn things around. Something BHVR just won't do.

Dude you just set your desktop resolution to anything you want. People do this for all games that don't have resolution in options (mostly older games). You want to start banning people who get 144 fps too?

Please explain what advantage extra fps grants, compared to stretched resolution that allows breaking mindgames on loops.

  • Demo all the way! Okay, every change for him is 1 step forward 2 steps back but I still love the DemoDog. And yes, Booping is encouraged!

  • @VexTheHex said:

I'd love for Killers to have to stomp totems to destroy these stronger perks for Survivors. The killers complaining already is hilarious since they always say totems are destroyed within a minute of the match and are WAY too easy to find. But the thought of the having the shoe on the other foot is atrocious.

It's quite a different thing when you have 4 survivors looking for totems to destroy rather than a single killer - killer's don't need yet another issue to manage, they've already got their hands full!

  • "I think that Camping and Tunneling is miserable, and the fact that people say that its a valid tactic is a defense mechanism because they don't want to lose it."

People say that it's a valid tactic because BHVR have publicly and repeated come out and said that they're perfectly valid tactics, no "defense mechanism" required.

Hatch & Keys are miserable too but again, they've been repeatedly confirmed a valid tactics by the people who make the game so survivors don't need to defend their use either.

I love to see this kind of threads "survivor baaaad nerf survivor this game is survivor sided the devs hates killers bohooohoo"

-They did nerf all good surv perks every killer were whining about

    -they reduce pallets and loops

-they nerf toolboxes, insta heal etc

    -they made the hatch closable

    -they put EGC

    -more to say

What did they really nerf on killer ? Oh yeah, "ruin" few years ago. What a loss.

    Ruin (again this year)

    Undying

    Pop

    MORI

    Twins

    Freddy

    Billy

Nurse (broken for years now with no sign of fixing)

Locking killers to the lobby while survivors can still change

Pallets? The Game is so overloaded with pallets it's a joke.

    The list goes on...

Yes, there have definitely been nerfs to survivors but to claim that there haven't been significant nerfs to killers is just unreasonable.

  • @Munqaxus said:

We all know skill-based matchmaking is coming at some point. Now my question is:

Does the algorithm for it take things like slugging, camping and tunneling into account?

I think the crux of the matter is "at some point". We've had killers locked into the lobby unable to change due to MMR for yonks now and no sign of when it'll be implemented. BHVR, if you're not going to give us the benefits of the MMR then revert the penalty!

You do realize most TTV are small streamers and do not publicly humiliate players right? Of all the streamers I have watched (well over 500) - I would say maybe a handful are what I would call "toxic" streamers - the ones who complain and degrade others. I belong to a Discord group of small streamers and their viewers - probably 120-125 small streamers and I have watched every single one of them - and none of them would have been invited to the Discord if they were "toxic" streamers.

When I am playing killer and there is a ttv survivor - I visit their stream before and after - to wish them good luck and to gg them. 99% of the time they are very cordial whether they win or lose.

I have went against everyone from Tofu, Otz, Elix, Ohmwrecker, AngryPug, and Tru3 to smaller streamers who had 3-20 viewers. Judging an entire group of persons based off limited interactions seems silly to me (and a bit discriminatory) - I judge individuals and not entire groups, but that's just how I was raised.

I guess I've just had bad luck - I've only just cracked 100 hours (about 40 survivor then I switched to killer) and I've only had 4 TTV's - and all of them were abusive and bullying. So I'm glad you've had good encounters but my experience isn't the same.

Agreed, if anyone has a legitimate right to say "What about these bugs?" it's Nurse players.
