  • I will readily admit that I've been harping on the need to fix Nurse bugs that have been in place for what .. 3 years now? So I'll give the devs credit for that.

Of course, they then lose some credit for nerfing Twins and Clown, ignoring how broken boon totems are etc. I'm interested in the Dead Hard change and whether it resolves the "Dead hard eating a Killer's power" like the Nemmy pallet issue - if so, that's also quite a big positive.

The rest? Aside from the QoL changes not much of it makes sense.

I mean, there exists a possibility that boons aren't overperforming like people think they are.

    A negative possibility, perhaps.

Seriously, COH completely destroys hit & run and actively encourages tunnelling as one of the only viable strategies. Is that really what we want?

  • More of a bug correction I'd say.

I read carefully enough, otherwise I wouldn't have clarified in the first place.

I understand you preferred to see different changes in the post, but a lot of these changes were asked by many, so the feedback is not getting ignored as you stated.

People honestly asked for Twins and Clown to be nerfed? Seriously?

  • I'm positive that the Devs have no idea what the hell they're doing, miniscule buffs to useless addons and major nerfs to the few good ones. Like Clown and Twins needed nerfing? Nothing on the major issues like how broken Boon Totems are, DH eating killer powers etc?

And let's pour out a 40 for poor Nurse, 3+ years of unfixed major bugs.

I'll admit healing can be broken but it has always been broken, don't know why people act surprised at it now. Besides that, DH validation isn't a bad thing and it never was the broken part of dead hard. Again, dead hard has always been strong lol validation is just making the servers more secure, the reason dead hard was op was because of the use of it for distance.

Besides that, if we are saying "broken" as in strong, NOED is still one of the most busted killer perks and most gen perks when used aggressively are still just as strong.

Except Dead Hard isn't meant to "eat" the killer's power. If Nemmy tentacle whips over a dropped pallet and the survivor DH's away, fine the tentacle should miss them (and does) but the pallet should be broken by the tentacle (it doesn't) so Dead Hard is most definitely broken in that aspect. The Devs have acknowledged it but of course, nothing is getting fixed in this patch.

i'm a survivor main at top mmr for surv and play against top mmr killers constantly. while boons are absolutely overpowered in swfs, it makes solo queue games MANAGEABLE to get by and actually have a chance of escaping (aka not getting killed 5 minutes within a game because teammates r clueless).

if you cant hear a boon or figure out why all 4 survivors keep running to the same place in the map after every time they get hit, that's on YOU. if anything BHVR should add particles for killers around boon locations as it will help ppl with hearing disabilities but even then it's not hard to memorize where totems are at all. it takes the killer not even a second to destroy the boon, and if survivors keep relighting them, that's 14 or 24 seconds of one survivor not on gens.

unless y'all are playing in tournaments, this game is FOR FUN and not every match will be the same easy 4k against megheads and leons urban evasioning around the map, and that's the charm of the game.

What about the territorial killers like Trapper & Hag? If they have to trudge slowly across the length of the map to reach the Boon Totem and leave their trapped area there goes all of their pressure, and you know that boon totem will be relit 0.001 nanoseconds (possibly a slight exaggeration) after they head back to their trapped zone.

I guess I’m not supposed to be happy about the Nemesis, Pig, Cannibal, Oni addon buffs. Or the Remember Me, Furtive chase, Dead Mans Switch, Gearhead, Boiled Over, Power Struggle perk buffs.

They didn’t nerf what you wanted nerfed.

They buffed useless addons to make them just barely less useless but still never to be used. They nerfed the only addons that actually were useful. Seriously, TWINS needed a nerf? Clown?

  • I'll admit I'm baffled as to why the devs didn't release all the info at once - it only leads to this kind of speculation and bad feeling. If they'd released the info at once then people could make informed comments.

  • @Sluzzy said:

There is no way killers need buffed. They need to ensure everyone has a fair chance, it shouldn't take a perfect SWF to win. SWF are probably in a good spot and from what I see, at least can get the gates opened.

As long as the killrates are much higher than 50%, then only survivor buffs are needed to ease the pain and doom of solo.

I could tell who posted this without reading the name - I'll admit I'm baffled how you can have a view so far removed from reality.

  • @Regulus47 said:

They literally just increased a number from 0.2 to 0.4 seconds. People are just overreacting, he can still pretty much quickscope and he got a bunch of buffs too! He's got some busted strong add-ons like the cigar and the Exposed one, he can move faster when aiming, he recovers super quick after you break the chain... he's still a BEAST and underrated, just more fair now.

I hope if the developers cave in and buff him, they don't overtune him. I think he's almost perfect! And super fun to play as/against, too!

When you say " he can still pretty much quickscope" it really sounds like you haven't played him since the nerf. On what are you basing this assessment?

  • Fix at least some of the bugs that have been in existence for more than 3 years. Seriously.

It was actually very common to be exhausted on the ground with Dead Hard because it went off the killers connection not the survivor who had the perks connection.

And now it's very common for a killer's power to be "eaten" entirely due to Dead Hard - and we have heard nothing from the devs as to whether they ever intend to fix it. Nemesis' pallet issues being the most consistent/outstanding one that I've seen.

  • Boon totems are particularly bad for the territorial killers like Trapper & Hag. Imagine poor Hag having to trudge halfway across the map to snuff a boon totem then trudge back to her trapped area!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/300965/lightborn-is-a-valid-perk

A perk that removes a game mechanic such as flashlight saves shouldn't be a thing. No idea why they would buff lightborn after hard nerfing flashlights, 5 seconds to blind a lightborn user was already bad enough, now they're immune to it.

It'd be better if lightborn is immune to blinds, but can still be flashlight saved with the regular timing.

So you agree that ShadowStep, which removes fundamental killer abilities to read auras or see scratch marks should be removed immediately. Cool, I agree!

  • So we've found the Anti-Sluzzy.... :)

  • @Jago said:

Shadowstep is a new player destroyer.

Yeah, I've just cracked 100 hours as a player (about 70 hours as killer) and if I can't see scratch marks I tend to lose the survivor. I realise that the game isn't balanced around my skill level (or lack thereof! ) but just my 2c worth.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2707227#Comment_2707227

It really doesn't. Infinite Distortion, yes, but it does not give infinite Lucky Break- it gives infinite Poised.

Lucky Break is way stronger than Shadow Step even if you disregard the range requirement, because it also hides blood. Shadow Step is nowhere near as strong as CoH, it's reasonably powerful but it's not game-breaking in the least.

So it still gives 2 free perks to the rest of the team at no cost, effectively adding 6 perks to the Survivor side.

Just because it isn't as fundamentally broken as CoH doesn't mean it's still not OP.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2705316#Comment_2705316

The Boon totem mechanic isn’t fundamentally busted, it works fine. Circle of Healing is overpowered but the other two don’t seem to be that bad.

Shadow gives the entire team infinite Distortion + infinite Lucky Break - so one perk on one survivor adds 2 perks to the other three survivors at zero time or perk cost to the rest of the team.

    Definitely busted.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2705323#Comment_2705323

Renewable but costs the survivors time they could spend on gens. Multiple perks only if you bring multiple boons and only within 24m?

    Sounds fairly balanced to me

I disagree on several levels :)

    1. It only costs 1 survivor any time (and not much time to be honest) but the benefits go to the entire team.
    2. You get multiple perks just from Shadow .. you get infinite Distortion + Lucky Break. If a survivor takes Shadow & CoH then you get both of those plus infinite faster self-care for all 4 team members at the cost of 2 perks from a single survivor.
  • Definitely agree about the Red Moss, it's crazy trying for a stealth build on Demo when no matter what they can hear him coming from miles away with his ultra-stealthy "STOMP STOMP STOMP"

But I still love my DemoDoggie and always will!

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2704622#Comment_2704622

Look at it this way. Are boons an issue or is COH an issue? Just because COH is op right now and needs toning down doesn’t mean shadowstep and exponential should suffer too

Boons are definitely an issue - an infinitely renewable bonus of multiple perks for all survivors simultaneously? That's insanely unbalanced even just as a concept.

  • That's awesome - I love my DemoDoggie! Wish I could recreate that! :)

  • @dugman said:

They don’t need to change the entire Boon system to balance Circle of Healing, just slow down its healing speed enough that it’s still beneficial to bring but not so powerful as it is now?

As far as timing goes I think their current schedule nowadays is they do a balance pass about three months after a character releases, so we’ll probably see Mikaela tweaks including her Boons in next month’s mid-chapter. That’s my guess anyway.

Given that the boon totem mechanic is fundamentally busted they need to overhaul the lot, not just CoH because it happens to be the worst of a bad lot.

  • @zarr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2701662#Comment_2701662

Well, ultimately it doesn't matter whether it's a killer or a survivor client-sided logic that governs the speed boosts and cooldowns and makes it so they don't happen on validated hits, the only important thing is that they don't. I do think the hit cooldown is handled on the killer client and the speed boost on the survivor client, the clip posted earlier in this thread shows Nemesis starting to go into successful hit cooldown because they have a very high latency, and then the overwriting message from the server arrives and turns it into a missed hit cooldown. But yeah, as that goes to show, even at ridiculously high latencies (red lag icon = at least 300ms) the successful hit cooldown only plays for a negligible duration.

Some other interactions are more problematic, such as for instance Nemesis' tentacle not breaking a pallet in its hitzone upon getting a hit rejected on a survivor, but like I said, these are fairly rare and fairly tame in terms of the impact they will usually have even then. Plus some of these interactions can even benefit killers, like a survivor magically losing their item to Franklin's. They should still be sorted out though of course.

Except they're not rare in the slightest.

  • Bless you good person!

  • @Lochnload_exe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/299687/the-state-of-killer-right-now-is-abysmal

It isn't a successful hit, it is counted as a miss, you just see it hit though. It is only unfair visually.

also I'm still having a blast, I played a round of padded jaws trapper and got a 0k but it was still a fun match even with the survivors trying super hard. I got a lot of hooks and played fair and good. When I actually try and win it is always either a win or a super close 2k+, the game isn't horribly abysmal like everyone thinks. If you think that way maybe you need to try and just play for fun because most sides definitely can make the experience miserable for the other. If you only play killer, try the other side and improve

Unless it also makes your power not activate as it should. The classic example is Nemesis using tentacle whip over a dropped pallet.

    1. Nemmy initiates whip.
    2. Survivor on the other side of the pallet uses Dead Hard
    3. Attack misses Survivor (correct result)
    4. Attack does not break pallet (incorrect result)

This has been proven with Nemmy's whip, Twin's Victor leaping & a bunch of other killer powers. I have no issues with a legit miss not taking effect, however the killer is currently getting screwed and that's not as it's supposed to be working.

Of course, this will be fixed by 2029 at the earliest given past experience...

It's funny that all these nerfs are being called for on survivors, yet when the developers presented the most recent sets of data, it's showing killers as over-performing, not survivor. Also, it's really interesting that there was a tournament recently where all perks were allowed and killers were getting roughly 2 kills per match.

Then again, this forum can sometimes become an echo chamber.

Yes, but their 'data' has also led them to believe that Billy needed to be dumpstered into the ground, that Deathslinger was completely OP and that while Ruin was too useful Boon totems are just fine.

I do not think that BHVR understands the meaning of the words 'data' and 'analytics' at all.

It's almost like the Killer could've just hit the snowmen to make them go away... and there's only six of them per game...

The sheer whining power of this community (over a two-week event) is wild. I would have been laughing my head off!

Given that those 6 respawn almost immediately you can't say that there's a limited number...

  • It's only fun for the survivors. Like they needed yet another benefit.

  • Another fun Artist synergy is taking Iron Maiden - jump into a locker to insta-repel my birds, will you? :)

  • I can't say I'm a fan of the bright maps regardless, they just don't have that horror feel that the darkness has, but the new map is most definitely horrific. It might be not too bad for a three-blink Nurse but aside from that, bleah.

  • That combo could be interesting on Demo when using the add-on that gives you Killer's Instinct whenever they're near an activated portal - Drop a portal near your Pentimeno'd totem(s) and you can take them out before they cleanse. It's a variant on the Devour Hope similar buiild.

so it work as intended Sorry . i still see many ppl using it wrong and make mistakes with it take advantage for soloQ players, if youre against a full squad you already know that is an Other Story and getting an hard Game XD

Okay, so you didn't actually read my post. This scenario is taking place right now:

    1. Killer playing Nemesis is chasing survivor
    2. Survivor drops or vaults over pallet.
    3. Nemesis uses tentacle attack on survivor.
    4. Survivor uses Dead Hard and does not get hit.
    5. HOWEVER when Nemesis uses his tentacle on a downed pallet and doesn't hit a survivor, the pallet should break. When Dead Hard is used in this scenario the killer BOTH misses the survivor (working as intended) but ALSO the pallet isn't broken (NOT working as intended).

Do you understand now? Not getting the hit when Dead Hard is used - working correctly. Not breaking the pallet? NOT working correctly.

4 years DH doesnt Work properly, now it got repaired and its normal to see it as a buff but you are wrong. at start DH was handled by Killer's Ping so it was easy to abuse. now its server handled , it's why you can see some screams but no Hit. the perk work as intended but devs should look at hit validation for screams bug. remember as killer you can mindgame DH.

Dead Hard was never meant to invalidate a killer's power, as in the now-classic "Nemesis tentacle doesn't hit the survivor but also doesn't break the pallet like it's supposed to". So no, Dead Hard is clearly not working as intended.

  • @Phasmamain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2662798#Comment_2662798

Because they weren’t legit on the survivor side only yours

And when validation blocks a killer's power from working, like when you DH away from a pallet? The survivor isn't hit but the pallet doesn't break like it's supposed to do. Definitely an issue most survivors ignore when discussing DH.

  • Given that the Boon Totems give the other survivors free perks while in their infinitely-renewable area, they are all over powered until that gets brought into line.

But the OP has a good point, it's effectively just making some fun perks not worth taking.

  • The main point from what I gather is not so much the missed hits that looked (and the killers client showed) as hits, as much as "if the killer missed the hit then their power should act as though it missed" such as the Nemesis pallet breaking issue.

  • Sorry, I'm a newbie here (about 100 hours, started mostly Survivor but switched to killer) and on reading Dying Light I can't see how it counters Decisive Strike? It looks like it's overall a 'meh' perk given that it gives your obsession a permanent boost and looks like it stops working if you kill off your obsession.

But as I said very much a newbie here so clearly I'm missing something?

  • Just as long as they don't come up with more stupid event-only addons to clog up the bloodweb that forces you to waste BP on them (because they always show up near the middle of the web) and can't be used after the event but can't be deleted or traded back for BP so they're stuck in your inventory forever.

  • The ones that clutter up your bloodweb with event-specific "rewards" that you can only use during the event. They always show up near the center so you're forced to take at least some of them eventually, they are always a complete waste of points and forever after clog up your screen as you can never get rid of them after the event.

Utter rubbish of the highest calibre.

Either you clearly have never understand any DbD mechanics and then you are the worst player i have met at this game.

Either you are just a troll.

The truly puzzling thing for me is that Sluzzy has something like thousands of hours and is a Nurse main when they're not playing Survivor, but they have this utterly skewed view that Survivors are utterly weak and Killers have all the advantages which is just Opposite-Land.

  • Yeah, my poor Demo - what gets me is that when he comes through a portal he's supposed to be undetectable for a few seconds - except for the MASSIVE STOMPING SOUNDS that give him away every time.

That's your assumption, they are not breaking any rule by just sharing their opinions, but there are users who specifically target them to belittle them and their ideas.

There's a big difference between discussing and insulting, if you want to prove them wrong, then you can share your argument and explain why you disagree with them, however it happens way too often that they get dismissed as "troll" just because their idea doesn't align with a majority of users.

My issue is that they always use sweeping generalisations without specifics to back up what they're saying, then repeat the same thing in a few days. If there were concrete examples to rebut/discuss/debate that'd be one thing but they never back up what they're saying with anything but more sweeping generalisations.
