Because that is literally a busted perk paired with ruin. Even your fellow killer community agreed with that.

And DS + Unbreakable isn't a busted perk pairing that's been in place for years? But then Undying got hit after only a few months

  • I do especially feel for Trapper mains when OoO is in play, as it clearly shows where their traps are being laid and so pretty much invalidates their power.

Yea it was a big part of the chat, asked like 10 times. And he assured it is NOT meant to be that way and will be fixed. Now, will they fix it in time for release? I sure hope so. Because the amount of bugs that I saw in his stream was... really... sad

Yeah, the question of getting it fixed before this patch goes out is the main point. If they leave such a huge buff to an already-meta perk ...

  • Point, set and match good sir!

  • I'm a beginner killer and I don't play Huntress much so this may be a stupid statement, but if they're that close then why not just M1 lunge? Okay if you've got a hatchet ready to throw give it a fling. If it hits great, if not they're in bopping range and it seems like that'd be quicker.

I freely admit I may be missing the bloody obvious! :)

Most game studios have multidisciplinary teams that work on different aspects of a game independently of other teams. One team working on the UI/UX has no capacity to fix bugs, nor would they presumably leech resources from the developers whose job it is to fix bugs.

I know, as I said in my previous answer my post refers to much more than just the UI.

Hence this part of my post:

"Personally, I'd be happy if the devs spent 6 months fixing outstanding issues and held off on any new content for that timeframe. The rate they release new content has got to be punishing for the dev/testing team and the ever-increasing amount of issues is a real disincentive to play."

  • @Rydog said:

UI/UX team and balance team are different.

There are myriad reasons to improve a game's usability, especially as it pertains to surfacing information better and tamping down on new player churn. You don't think about it because you are already knee-deep in the game, but bad UX is one of DBD's most serious problems, and it's good that they are finally taking some baby steps toward addressing it (although, I am not a fan of the screen placement choices they have apparently made for the new HUD).

I agree both that the UI needed work and that there are issues with what they've proposed.

I regret listing the UI in the title, as my post covered new content & new functionality as well but the UI seems to be what people notice! :)

Hey UI DESIGN team, get to fixing bugs ASAP. Thanks

The UI was just an example, hopefully you read the rest of my post.

Most killers use BBQ and Chili because the grind of this game is just way too long, and having a perk that can double your bp per match is very important for most people

In particular the grind for killers just got harder as there are so many wasted BPs with Mori's in the web now that they are useless.

  • @Shirokinukatsukami said:

Firstly, Survivors can play with friends. That alone makes nearly any game more "sticky". Killer is a strictly solo experience unless you have exactly 5 people and do a KYF.

This is actually a very good point.

I also get what you mean about the base perks on both sides. Killer definitely has a harder time gearing up for optimum builds.

Are the majority of new killers really ending up against high rank survivors? That would definitely be a big turn off from the game. Low rank survivors going up against high rank kilelrs used to be very common but I havent been in low ranks since forever so I don't know what the matchmaking is like these days. I am a low rank killer right now, though, but I don't play much killer anymore and I haven't been going up against absurdly higher rank survivors surprisingly. They are within my skill level more or less and the matches are ok. I always thought the higher the killer rank goes the harder it gets, because now your'e going up against survivors who know what they're doing. At low rank killer is not so bad for me.

I'm a beginner Killer (Rank 17) and yes, I'd say about 2/3rd of my games have at least 2 survivors in green/purple ranks and I've had about ... 15-20 where there were 3 red ranks and one brown.

It's very disheartening and to be honest I wind up taking breaks from the game so I guess I'm not likely to rank up much but those games just aren't enjoyable. It's one thing to learn by facing more experienced people but when you get stomped flat you don't really learn anything. I have however learned that if one of the survivors has "TTV" in their name, I should not go to their channel and watch the match from their perspective. The insults and derogatory comments are unpleasant to say the least.

  • The devs and mods have repeatedly stated that tunnelling is a valid game strategy so why should someone following a valid strategy get punished?

  • Billy was my boy from when I first started playing Killer.

Then came the nerf & addon "fixes".

I tried playing him again recently and he's still too janky.

I imagine it's difficult to balance the matchmaking, especially since it would increase queue times. So, what do people want? Long queues and fair matches? Or quick matches and short queues?

I'm willing to bet the foremost issue is there aren't enough killers and it seems as if gamers are getting turned off from the killer role. I could be wrong, of course, I don't know the hard numbers.

As a relatively newbie killer (rank 17, less than 100 hours all up and I started as pure Survivor) it seems a bit of a vicious circle. Bad matchmaking discourages new killers which means less new killers which means longer queues which means worse matchmaking....

  • As a new killer, I definitely get the feeling that there is a focus on making killers harder to play. The Billy nerf, ignoring long-running killer bugs like all the places where Nurse can't blink for some reason, Haddonfield... it certainly makes it feel like the object is to make things more difficult for killers. If they go through with the "No more Bloodlust" patch they tested it'll make things really difficult for a beginner killer - I get looped to the point where I have to break off as gens start falling all the time and saying "Get Gud" doesn't help when there's no opportunity to learn when you're massively outclassed both in skill and perk/addons from the survivors.

I fully acknowledge that it takes time to develop skills (and no, you can't just watch a Youtube video and do well against skilled survivors) and I can definitely say that the Matchmaking needs to be fixed as so many times I've faced a team of 3 red-ranks and one brown when I'm level 16-17. It's truly disheartening.

  • My only question on the Mori change is the timing. With all of the long-term bugs in place and the number of completely game-ruining bugs introduced with this patch, they chose to spend the time and effort on this?

  • At the moment, Hoarder is actually a Survivor perk effectively! 😂

  • Because Franklin's is effectively useless. Survivors just drop the key in a corner or other hidden area at the beginning of the game and go back to get it at endgame. Even if you do manage to use Franklin's it takes so long for the item to despawn that if a killer actually camped it long enough for the key to disappear they'd lose all pressure and watch the gens fall.

  • If BHVR had actually thought this through they would have reduced the BP costs of the affected Mori's in the Bloodweb. In particular the Ebony Mori is less useful and therefore shouldn't cost 7000BP - the grind is hard enough as it is.

To be honest, if they'd done that I'd have no complaints aside from the fact that there are a multitude of bugs (both long-term and many game-breaking ones introduced in the latest DLC) and they chose to spend time and effort on this?

  • BHVR: Let's release a new DLC that not only doesn't fix existing bugs but really messes up a lot of killers.

Also BHVR: Let's do an immediate release to nerf mori's without adjusting BP costs just to mess up killers even more instead of fixing up the bugs we created.

I think we have different definitions of useless...by using a mori even after a second hooking you are still saving yourself the flashlight save attempts, pallet stun save attempts, firecracker save attempts, sabo save attempts, plus the survivor won't be able to body block a hook - nor do you lose a strategic hook as no survivor would have died on the hook so no permanent hook loss. That to me sounds far from useless.

Edited to add - not forgetting DS.

However, given that the Ebony Mori in particular is demonstrably less useful than before surely they should be reduced in blood points cost in the blood web? Otherwise, it's making the grind even more difficult for Killers.

  • That and the new grass blocks so much of the scratch marks and blood trails - adding that to issues with colourblindness makes it extremely difficult to track on these updated maps.

  • I'm learning Nurse (because I'm a masochist, apparently) and for me the bugs are what makes things so frustrating. There's a big enough learning curve for her and in order to progress her perks I've had to basically play as other characters and use their BP winnings to level up Nurse.

But yeah, the bugs like "Sorry you can't blink through that part of the object so you get a prize! You lose chase and momentum and here, have some fatigue to boot!"

The thing with Demo is that he's the first Killer with the ability to bait his Power. He also isn't terribly strong beyond setting up a potent 3-gen or committing to a chase build, so more often than not, he has to rely on you playing yourself to score hits with Shred.

First killer who can bait his Power?

Billy & Bubba say Hi! Just tap M2 and see the survivors reactions!

  • @MadLordJack said:

Yeah, Demo's zoning can become a real problem at some tiles. Running to an LT wall? Guess what, you ain't vaulting that no matter which window you go to.

But, I don't think Demo needs a change except for it to stop announcing every single little thing it's doing by screaming at the top of it's lungs and clomping along with invisible lead weights attached to its toes.

Oh please, remove the clompy weights on his feet! It's so distracting when you're trying to hear subtle noise cues in chase and forget a stealth build! :)

  • @Aneurysm said:

Why are people so mad about a test? Do you want them to just change it without any player input because that's what they'd so otherwise.

And don't say put it on a ptb, you know that's a silly answer

Not angry about a test so much, but really to focus so much time and effort on Bloodlust when there are far more serious issues affecting the game? Really, Bloodlust is the top priority??

  • Yeah, as a new killer this is just going to make things harder. Matchmaking already screws low-level killers over. I had just made rank 16 before the reset and I normally face at least a few purple or red ranks per game and things like the cow tree, Ormond hotel, the long fences at Haddonfield etc are hard enough for killers trying to learn.

How about tying it to your rank? Lose the highest tier when you "graduate" up a colour in ranks so it's there for low-level killers but gone by the time you hit higher skill levels?

Edit: To add a point, when I watch people with thousands of hours like Otz and Tofu having serious issues getting looped at Haddonfield houses or Ormond jungle gyms with two pallets and two windows (both recent streams) what hope does a beginner like me have?

  • There needs to be a consistent definition of "camping" too. It's one thing to just stand there in front of the hooked survivor and doing nothing else, but I was had an incident yesterday when I had a survivor literally standing next to me as I put their teammate on hook and accused me of camping when I hit them. You're standing beside me waiting for the hook to go on and expect that I shouldn't hit you???

  • "Alexa, set timer for 60 seconds"

    Done.
