If you do requests I'd like a thread that examines in more detail why demogorgon is now pay to win

Me and the other 10 Demo mains would love to read that! :)

I'd be happy if I could sell items/addons/offerings back at a discount ATM.

    So very much this!

We have useless items/addons/offerings galore. I would happily trade in many many items in my stores (especially the useless Special Event addons that you can no longer use!) for a discounted amount of BP. For example, never used a mori but I have to waste so many BP in the bloodweb when you have no choice and I'd love to just trade them in!

Why?? Literally every streamer who said it was going to be horrible and OP are saying it's not an issue anymore. Tofu was scared about it going live but after going against it he said I wasn't bad. I've heard this from tons of streamers. Meta really needs a change and killer is literally at its all time easiest... Yes, I play both sides. Equally.

Sure it'll be fine for the likes of Tofu, but imagine how the bully teams will hit learner killers when they can remove all methods of tracking?

  • I'm only a newbie killer (~100 hours total, about 45 hours killer) and to be honest the only time I've given hatch is if they had someone DC early in the match, it makes it much harder for the rest of the survivors.

  • @Zixology said:

A common phrase killer mains like to toss around is that keys reward survivors for being bad. I never understood how keys "reward bad survivors". It doesn't make sense if you think about it.

If anything, it rewards the ones who actually did their job and stayed alive while their garbage teammates died off. And if you specifically only mean it for when 4 people get out through hatch, they still did all 5 gens... BEFORE you killed one person. They deserve a reward at that point.

The only reason why I am highly against a key nerf, is b/c of the current hatch priority. If a survivor has found the hatch first, they have to stand on top of it while the death animation plays out before it opens. However, if the killer gets there before the animation is done, the killer is the one who gets hatch priority to close it. NOT the guy who found it first. The hatch should be based on who gets there first. Not some priority system.

Or, instead of it rewarding those who did their job you have the case most of us have seen where a Blendette hides the entire game then uses their key to get a hatch escape ASAP.

  • So when will MMR get turned on, I wonder? We've been dealing with the crappy rainbow matchmaking for a long time now, and the killers are still penalised by being locked once they enter the lobby which was touted as a part of MMR. So the bad part of MMR has been in place for quite a while but the good part is still in some vague future.

    Yay.

  • And those special event offerings that are no longer usable - they just waste space!

  • And yet poor Demo still stomps around like Godzilla.

Actually, if you give Godzilla's breath weapon to Demo, I'm happy! :)

  • And padded booties so that he doesn't clomp around all the time. What use is Oblivious when you can hear him stomping towards you from 2 towns over...

  • Increasing Demo's Oblivious time doesn't help when he stomps like Herman Munster everywhere! Can we make him quieter as he STOMPS along please???

It's not live but is it running in the background to gather data? Plus they said it's going to get here eventually. No sense taking it out when your going to put it back in later.

So Killers are expected to cop the hassle of not being able to change until "eventually". Yeah, that's a good call.

Like Pulsar said. They're using MMR for each killer. Say you que up as a killer you never use. The MMR "tries" to find newb survivors because your new to that killer. Then when you get matched with newbs you switch to your top tier killer. It wouldn't be fair. That's why we can't switch anymore. I do think survivors should be locked as well.

Except MMR isn't live and we have zero indication as to when it might come live, so currently Killers are being penalised with no benefit in return.

As I've stated in other comments already, I don't play this game religiously or keep up with all the patches, so I'm not intimately familiar with all the specific changes that have been made. A lot of it is just general sense that I get playing the game, for example that flashlights used to be really good and popular but now you almost never see them, that killers rarely have to rely on abilities anymore and can get by just using M1, etc.

But with that caveat, here are a few specifics I would go for first based on the knowledge I have:

    • Wraith run speed is way too high now
    • Nurse double blink makes her way too strong. She already has great map pressure/mobility, making her one of the best chasers in the game too is too much. Either take away double blink or add some kind of mechanic to punish poor aim on the first blink. Could be a max turn radius, max turn speed, longer charge up time for the second blink, etc
    • Freddy is way too strong. He's like if you combined Hag's traps with an added massive slow, Demogorgon's teleport only you can cancel it, it can't be removed by survivors, and you don't have to run over to a gen to place it, and Pig's stealth + forcing survivors to interact with an object to remove a debuff. (The last part is kind of a joke - let's face it, no one actually does alarm clocks because the timer before it comes back is so short, and it's basically just trading one debuff for another since you lose heartbeat by doing it.) At the very least I would start by increasing the dream timer (if you ask me it should be at least 2x if not 3x what it is now) and/or allowing survivors to interact with any alarm clock rather than just one. Maybe make the teleport non-cancelable, and/or increase the cooldown/decrease the limit on traps.
    • Doctor's Static Blast is too strong (I say this as someone who for a while mained Doctor, both before and after they introduced this ability). For how strong it is in being able to find hiding survivors, it should have a longer cooldown if it's to stay in the game at all.
    • Oni should have a turn speed limitation while in charge. Right now it's possible to do a hairpin 180 degree turn while charging which is just ridiculous.
    • The new DS is too weak. Yes, it sucked and was sometimes frustrating as a killer when everyone had it, but with good strategy and attention there were ways to play around it or into it if you had the skill to do so. If you ask me old DS was fine, but I can also understand why most killers would think it needed a nerf. The current nerf is just too much and makes it no longer worth running in most situations, unless there is going to be some other new perk that punishes killers for focusing down one survivor at a time.
    • Apparently there was some recent change to how pallets work? Not sure on the details, but I've definitely M1'd people very late through a dropped pallet, as well as had it done to me.
    • It feels like killers' move speeds have increased across the board. (Or maybe survivors are slower now?) I'm not going to go through all the patch notes to list out every single change they've made. Suffice it to say that I remember the days when you actually had to wait for multiple bloodlust to catch a skilled survivor in a bigger loop, whereas nowadays even bloodlust 1 is enough to nullify most loops on most maps, and many loops are so small that you don't even need bloodlust to outrun them.
    • If you ask me, there are way too many perks in the game now that give Exposed.

I could go on, but I'll stop there for now.

Sorry, you've confused me a bit with this statement:

"Demogorgon's teleport only you can cancel it, it can't be removed by survivors, and you don't have to run over to a gen to place it"

    So in order:

    A) Demo's teleport can't be cancelled by survivors. True. Most killer's powers can't be cancelled by anyone but the killer themselves. As a Survivor I can't cancel any killer's power. Yes, some can be dodged or avoided in one way or another but the vast majority of those are damaging abilities and Demo's teleport does not cause damage

    B) Demo's teleport can definitely be removed by survivors once you've activated a portal. Okay you get one free teleport but thereafter they can demolish it - and you don't get any info from a portal you haven't activated so there's a strong incentive to activate them.

    C) You do have to run over to wherever you want to place a portal (though directly beside a gen may not be the best strategy)

So I'm afraid your sentence doesn't make sense to me.

  • And how is a beginner killer supposed to reach green ranks when we keep coming up against survivors far more skilled than we are? Please don't mention MMR, that's been promised to be "coming soon" for how long now with nothing concrete in sight?

Trying to learn as a new killer is an unfun slog, full stop. The best I've managed is to get to rank 17 before I got depipped again and again facing teams of red & green ranked survivors.

There has to be a better way, but it's clear that the devs have no intention of rectifying the situation.

  • @Adeloo said:

Well it stopped survivors to abuse it and use it as an aggressive perk.

but it's still no an anti-tunnel perk. If you get tunnel out of the hook and run the killer for more than 60 sec and get down, you still get hooked and have no DS to use.

Wednesday i did 12 survivor games.

    • first 3 = got tunneled out of 2 of them
    • decided to equip DS and played 9 others matches = got tunnel 4 times

I never bring any items, i don't tbag, i don't do anything that could be considered toxic. I was just an Elodie in her new outfit, and i got tunneled 50% of my games. By tunnel i mean, killer focused on me and only me since the start of the game, avoiding survivors working on gen in front of him to chase me, going back to the hook as soon as i get saved even if they were chasing someone else on the other side of the map, and never had the chance to deactivate the perk by touching a gen or healing myself before the killer was back following my arse.

So me who used to no equip DS and rarely get tunneled, i felt the need to equip this perk and it didn't help me in the slightlest. (i'm not an amazing looper but i still try my best and have my good moments) Worked only once, when i was at the exit gate. Still not enough of a good use out of 12 games.

Dude, you said it yourself. "If you get tunnel out of the hook *and run the killer for more than 60 sec* and get down you still get hooked."

You kept the killer away from your teammates for a full minute+, leaving them free to do gens/heal/progress towards escape. That's adding real value to your team!

Yeah, you can still get hooked after that but if you've run him for longer than a minute that's a definitely contribution. Be happy! The purpose of DS is not "If you've ever been hooked the killer doesn't get to down you anymore" its "If the killer downs you within 60 seconds of unhooking you shiv him, get away and run them for even longer".

To be fair, when survivors are heavy nerfed every patch there comes a point when some killers finally have to be nerfed. Now several needs to be nerfed. It's very imbalanced to have strong killers when survivors in general are extremely weak.

Just to be clear - in a 1v4 game you think the 4 should be individually as strong as the 1.

    This explains so much! :)

  • I don't agree with the entirety of the OP, however I do think that a survivor tapping a gen should take say ... 0.5s before it stops regression. A microtap cancelling out a 2.5s killer action seems a bit low, but it shouldn't have to be too long either. Just enough that you have to actually stop for that short period rather than tap it on the fly.

Yeah, and they've been "working on it" for a long time with no ETA on arrival, though the change to lock the killer's choice in while still letting survivors switch characters last moment is still in place.

    I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • I for one would far rather that the map team work on fixing the existing issues with the maps (fatshaming sections, the Game's insane pallets etc) and the rework than cranking out something new.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

If you want to torture yourself/get better with killer, you use them with only brown add-ons. That's what I use to judge a killer's strength; if they need green and pink add-ons to win, they're no good. But anyway, my methods did help me get back to rank 1 with Trapper after every rank reset. On my journey I've witnessed this game's survivor sidedness in all its glory. You can't compete with top level SWF unless you're like a god with Nurse/Spirit. Your only hope is to get matched with solos, and maybe just maybe you'll get a 4k.

I main Demo, his only good add-ons are brown.

  • How can you state that and also state "Your objective is to get hooks not necessarily just kills"?

You're contradicting yourself, not to mention trying to push your definition of what killers are "supposed" to do onto other players.

Incorrect: The Killer's objective is to kill all 4 survivors. Hooks are just one method of achieving that goal. A good method, don't get me wrong, but the objective is to ensure no survivors escape.

It's like Freddy as a perk.

So you do know that, as several people have noted, Noed and Sloppy aren't gen regression perks, right?

Because it's required for killer-specific MMR to work in the MMR system, which was a requested feature since long before they even mentioned that they were doing serious work on a MMR system in the first place. There's no similar survivor-specific MMR, and there shouldn't be either as there's no mechanical difference between survivors and that'd just be a free ticket to switch over to getting matched against lower "ranked" opponents at will by doing bad on purpose on some survivors while trying their best on others.

And even though MMR hasn't been driving matchmaking the system has very much remained implemented, gathering data in the background. Presumably to avoid just putting everyone at baseline MMR at the start like the first time the system was tested and to help them develop it further, which made matchmaking exceptionally wacky for many players. As a result killer lock remained required for a system put in the game to work properly, in this case the mostly "inactive" MMR system gathering data.

And just in case someone thinks I'm saying something I'm not, I do personally think there should be a period where survivors can't switch their character so the killer can at least react to it to some extent. Wouldn't even have to be super long, but anything's better than the 6 second no-time-to-react switch.

So they haven't actually implemented the MMR (and have given zero indications as to when that's coming) but left in the part that hamstrings the killer.

So much for "The devs are biased in favour of Killers".

  • Yeah, I'd rather they focus on fixing the current mountain of bugs, they can hold off on new content please.

🤣🤣 thanks for the paragraph saying absolutely nothing. You obviously can't read or better yet interpret what we're talking about. Right now we're in a state of emergency. Ask I said about being penalised is. They should take it off right now during the winter storm. You're talking about entitlement yet in the same sentence tell people what they should play during these troubling times. Oh I GET IT NOW.... YOU'RE NOT EFFECTED BY WHAT'S GOING IN SO YOU DON'T CARE. If that's the case then continue not caring and also not commenting to me. Regardless if I'm the one being affected or not, I can sympathise with others.

State of emergency? It's a lovely 27C/80F here in Australia! :)

Seriously though, there were no changes done when we were in massive bushfires or flooding when the internet was intermittent at best, nor did we demand that a global game make special allowances for us in our part of the world. If your internet connection is bad for any reason it's selfish of you to play a multiplayer online game knowing that you could abandon your team-mates at any point.

Was just showing the maths, I think in most games below the red ranks it's 5 mins for gens on good survivors so this is less of an issue. And in red ranks 4 mins should be normal because they are decent at the game. To pretend this doesn't happen to invalidate a point is ridiculous.

Yeah, for those who claim that losing gens that quickly only happens to bad killers, Otz has the following video where the first gen was completed in *27 seconds* on him, one of the top-tier players.

How is it not now a true anti tunnel perk? Id like to go into detail on that as you seem to base your argument at first on.

I agree with the last part however, I think in fact make it 10s of no blood trails and scratch marks. This would definitely be a good change in my eyes.

The middle part is balanced, I like it but I suggested in an earlier comment the trade off that could be made for a longer stun.

10 seconds of no blood trails or scratch marks? 10s x 4m/s = 40 m! That's way excessive, even if it was agreed that DS needs a buff (it doesn't)

  • So you want to nullify another player's actions without requiring any skill whatsoever. Gotcha.

  • Didn't Otz do a test run on The Game after it went live and counted over 20 pallets?

  • Not a Rare or Ultra-Rare but arguably the worst add-on in the game. Billy presents....

  • No new DLC for one year while they fix the mountain of outstanding bugs. Then they can start re-introducing new content with more care than the current "Deploy to Production and fix it later" methodology.

  • The main issue I have the the UI is th

Firstly, the placement. Sprawling the information all over the corners means that you have to keep shifting your viewpoint away from the action directly in front of you.

Secondly, the positioning of the Survivor information in the top left actually blocks your vision and forms a location where a survivor could be partially visible but blocked by the icons & text, which is such an awful UI decision it boggles the mind.

  • @Chchchcheryl said:

I can't even imagine a situation where the current DS/OoO nerfs would be enough to derank someone.

For all those Survivors who get unhooked, immediately tap a gen... then chase the killer trying to get his attention? Yep, guess that would do it... if the killer saw you tap that gen. lol

So you do know that the DS fix and potential OoO change aren't in this release, right? Killers got Mori's and Undying nerfed in the last release, Survivors continue with the same OP meta.

  • I'll often let the last survivor go if one (or more) of their team-mates DCs. Quitting like that and leaving your team-mates in the lurch sucks.

  • Saying that the need better communication is half-way right - they need to actually listen to the playerbase.

Better communicating that you're going to give players a s### sandwich does not improve the flavour of the sandwich.

And before they spent months working on the UI (really? So much effort for such a lame result, with many player-provided mockups that would be far better) if they had asked the players and listened to the response they could have saved all that effort.

It wasn't an original lie, I was simply too lazy to read my own comment, sry!

Also, bullying is generally a pretty weird term, speaking for dbd. It was my mistake that I didn't define it correctly (ironic since I defined it in my latest post). What I meant to say is outsmart and outloop a killer. It is, my fault tho, that I didn't specify so apologies for that.

Lastly, why be so aggressive? We're just having a conversation and I made a mistake, which I admit I did chill out. What i said is generally true, apart from the "I'm unsure if I mentioned bullying" where you correct that I mentioned.

Pretty weird definition of "bully", given that you'd just described juking a good killer as something different from bullying in that same sentence. So let me get this straight - to you "bullying" means "outsmarting and outlooping".

You appear to have your own personal definition of "bullying" that doesn't suit either the dictionary or the general usage here in the DBD community. Ask most people here to describe what "bully a bad killer" means and I sincerely doubt that "outsmarting and outlooping" will be what anyone else says.

The reason you perceive me as being aggressive is probably because it beggars belief that you could see your own post quoted when you were first replying to me and claimed that you hadn't mentioned something you very clearly did. It honestly really looks like you've realised you said a ######### thing and are trying to do anything possible to make it sound better.

Re-read your own comments. First it was "I didn't say that" then it changed to "When I said that I meant something different from what pretty much everyone else means when they say that". Comes across as completely insincere, can you see that?

Edit: At any rate, I see no point in belabouring the point. You clearly have a belief that you're correct and I clearly will never believe that "bullying" means to outsmart someone, so there's little value in continuing the discussion. I'm sure you've formed an opinion of me and I've formed one of you and neither really matter much in the grand scheme of things. I've made my point.

When playing survivor you feel more accomplished when you outsmart your opponent. When I outsmart a nurse, I do feel good I'm not going to deny that. This game rewards time and effort, in most situations. So if new players don't try, fail and learn, then what's the point of complaining?

Also I doubt I mentioned bullying. As an immersed gamer (name) I don't really enjoy getting found, most of the times. If I'm found, I'll try to stay alive. I don't really understand if you're calling me trash for feeling good when I outsmart a bad nurse, because if that's the case I'm impressed, because I almost never bully any "baby" killer, I just do my job, trying to survive. Should I just, stand still and let them hit me so they can feel good about themselves? We're in a really weird situation right now because the community hasn't really define the word "bullying" in this game, and it's not the only one (camping for example).

So if by "bullying" you mean repeatedly outsmarting and looping a killer of lower rank, then I guess I'm bullying new killers.

If by "bullying" you mean repeatedly annoying the killer by tbagging, following them and flashlight clicking, then I guess I'm the exact opposite of that

My sentence was a literal quote from your post, where you specifically stated "I love playing against a nurse because it feels so good when you juke a good one, or bully a bad one."

Those are your exact words, what on earth do you mean "I doubt I mentioned bullying". It was LITERALLY in the post I quoted. So please don't try to retroactively claim that you didn't use the exact words you quite clearly did. You specifically stated that "it feels so good when you juke a good one or bully a bad one."

Kinda pointless to lie and make the claim that you didn't mention bullying when your words are written right there in black and white. Did you not read your own post???

You're the one who stated that you enjoy bullying a bad nurse. Own your words and the consequences thereof. I'm not the one who first mentioned bullying, I was just responding to your absolutely clear statement.

Honestly, how on earth can you say "I doubt I mentioned bullying" when it's in your words in the post you're quoting???

Edit to add the original post as an image, underlining the relevant phrase.

Nope, there's a difference between good killers and boring killers. For example I LOVE playing against a nurse because it feels so good when you juke a good one, or bully a bad one. BUT I despise going against freddy, not because he's broken but because he's one of the most boring killers to go against, especially forever Freddy.

Twins are also a great example, they're not even close to op, but they're so boring to go against, since 90% just camp the hook and get rewarded for it.

Do people hate spirit? Yes, because stridor spirit is literally uncounterable. Do people hate pyramid head? Yes, because it feels that you can't do anything sometimes. Do people hate deathslinger? Yes, because a good deathslinger is ######### annoying to go against. But:

People don't hate the nurse, arguably the strongest killer in the game.

Neither hag (well most of them, I've been trashtalked for playing hag). She's strong as hell in the right hands.

"I love playing against a nurse because it feels so good when you juke a good one, or bully a bad one."

The second part of that sentence is why new killers leave and don't come back.

It's great to be proud when you out-maneuverer or out-think a good opponent. It's utter trash to realise that an opponent isn't at your skill level and bully them.
