Variety? Yeah, cough cough Adrenaline + DH + BT + DS or Unbreakable

The Majority of Survivor Perks are not worth running. Killers have abilities they can at least go for Perks they can use with their Killer. e.g. Enduring makes sense on M1-Killers, but not on Spirit. Stridor is a Perk which is not really useful on most Killers, but super-strong on Spirit. Nemesis works on Bubba.

So its usually unlikely that you get to see the same Perks on every Killer.

But for Survivors, they are only Skins and the number of good Perks is really limited. Since the BL-Nerf, the number of actually useful Exhaustion Perks is 2 - Dead Hard and Sprint Burst (I dont count Adrenaline as Exhaustion Perk and Head On is more gimmicky than useful). Nerf Dead Hard and there is only Sprint Burst. Yay, less variety.

That's a lie. Now instead its just PGTW + BBQ + Corrupt + Perk X.

Maybe if killers didn't lose 2-3 gens during the 1st chase people would be more inclined to not stack gen regression perks.

Killers can still use Ruin, it is still a decent Perk. Obviously only if you are somewhat decent as Killer, it is no mindless Slowdown like before. But if someone is good at Killer, Ruin is way more annoying than before.

And well, I guess its up to you if you decide to chase someone for 3 Gens.

Yeah, nerf even more good Killer Perks (Ruin) so that all we have left is Monstrous Shrine. Even less variety sounds great.

The Ruin-Rework resulted in more variety instead of Ruin + PGTW + BBQ + Perk X.

  • Yeah, nerf even more good Survivor Perks so that all we have left is Deja-Vu. Even less variety sounds great.

No, I proved you wrong. You said Depip Squad was 2 years old and I showed you a complete timeline of him restarting it for 2019-2020.

Here, this may help..... this month, is less than 2 years. Your phone have a calendar app>? Maybe you can count the days?

You showed me a tweet which is also over 1 year old and a VOD where he is playing with Metaperks. Sorry, you proved nothing.

That does not debunk his statement, LOL!

Because 4 top tier players got together as a SWF and destroyed Killers, DOES NOT mean that every group is like that. It DOESN'T EVEN MEAN the above average group is like that. This is an AMAZINGLY disingenuous statement.

In fact, the data from the DEVs (The November stats) shows that the game is Killer sided for every single killer by upwards of around 10%.

What you could say is that Killer has to juggle a lot of stuff which makes it stressful for the killer, while the survivors have less stuff they have to juggle so playing survivor is less stressful.

Dont try that. The Data is always irrelevant for most Killers. Except when they want to prove one of their points.

You keep saying tiny playerbase. How do you know it's 'tiny'? Where are you getting your evidence for this perception? Are you a rank 1 killer? Because if you are, you'd know that it isn't tiny. There is a reasonable way to balance swfs. You make every game a swf. Enabling VOIP is the obvious answer to balance the game. Don't like talking to your teammates with a mic? quick mute option should also be available with this feature. You cannot balance this game properly when it's split in two. Solo queue games are completely different than full man swf games.

How can people still think that Ingame Voice Comms and balancing around that are a good idea?

    It is not.

SWFs would just use Discord anyway. So if there is a 3 man SWF with a Solo, the Solo would be left out. Then, language barriers - in Europe we have a shitload of languages and not everyone speaks English well. Why should the Italian SWF speak English with a random Survivor?

Also, there are people who simply dont want to speak to Strangers online for various reasons - be it that nobody wants to speak to 14yr olds with 5 Euro Microphones, or they simply cannot bring themselves to talk to strangers. Or, they just want an immersive experience without any talks.

And those people would be screwed if you would balance around Voice Comms.

The number of really good 4 man SWFs is very small anyway (4 man SWFs are quite rare, and good 4 man SWFs even more rare).

And I watched him do depip squad within the last month, so your "2 years old" stuff is not accurate. You must not watch Marth, if you did youd know he does depip squad still. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/645435619?filter=archives&sort=time

I clicked through the video and he was using Meta-Builds. Eh. I dont really get your point. First you claim that the Depip-Squad Experiment is recent, then you want to show me recent footage (showing a February 2019-Tweet) and then you send me a video where he is using Meta Perks.

Let alone that it would be horrible for the game if it would be balanced around skilled players like Marth. I mean, we can totally balance the Survivor gameplay around Marth, if we balance the Killer gameplay around him as well. Then we would have the majority of people at Rank 5, at best.

(Thats the funny thing - it should alway be balanced around the best Survivors, but balanced around Rank 10 Killers is great)

I never said that their claim wasn't stupid but yours is still incredibly idiotic.

Both keys and moris are bad for game health and I wish they'd have changed em both in this upcoming mid-chapter instead of having changed Billy/Bubba. Don't get me wrong, Bubba needed it (and we can argue all day about Billy depending on your viewpoint) but imho keys and moris need changing faster.

    ^ this.

IMO those are the most unbalanced things in the game currently. Like, you should not feel the need to dodge a Lobby when you see a Key and you should not feel the need to Alt + F4 the game when you see a secret Offering.

  • Bloodpoint Cap should increase with Devotion. 100k BPs per Devotion-Level. So someone with Devotion 10 can save up to 2 Million BPs, for example.

  • @Clevite said:

I hear about these killer swf teams all the time, but rarely encounter them

My swf is my wife, myself, my daughter and a 4th. If we have one. Half the time we just talk and catch up during game play.

Sometimes I'm like "I haven't seen the killer in a while " My daughter is like" Oh, he has been chasing me".

    Not exactly game breaking.

I think the reports of these seal team swfs are greatly exaggerated.

Of course they are. Killers play 20 games, win 19 of them, most likely 2 or 3 even agaisnt 4 man SWFs. But they lose to one Squad of good Survivors and then those are the problem. Because they did not win 20/20, they only won 19/20.

And to be honest, when I look at the random Survivors I have in my team from time to time, I am really questioning how anyone can blame SWF.

  • I think Moris are bugged. They cause a lot of gamecrashes lately.

  • If I take a look at this forum, not the Survivors are whining. In general I see way more Killers complain here. Especially because everyone thinks that their Thread is special and not like the 33 Threads opened before about exactly the same topic.

  • "and how i play"

    Well...

But to answer your question: It was possible to abuse the system to give players huge Bans. A Streamer got a 72h Ban, despite not DCIng (it was seen on the Livestream that the Ban Timer went up).

So they disabled it, I assume it will be back once they fixed what made this possible.

  • I mean, the Smiley Face probably hides an absurd amount of BPs.

  • "I think the current penalties aren't enough for people who DC as it usually happens within the first few mins and ruins the game."

Well, currently there is no penalty at all. Thats why the number of DCs is so high.

  • I hope you are opening this thread in an ironic way.

There's better games out to play that are constantly updating and adding NEW things to there game. The core of DBD has been the same since release. Killer is way to stressful now, and surv is op as hell. Nothing has changed with the objective though, and it's just.... Boring, to be honest.

    Ok.

  • Because DBD is no game where Tournaments make sense? Lol.

I feel ya man. I'm pretty close too. Been playing since release on ps4, and it just keeps getting worse and worse. After 3 years, you would think the game would at least be properly optimized. It's not that big a deal for survivor, but for killer, it's literally a KILLER. I'm waiting for another company to come out w a similar game that finally either kills this, or makes them get there heads outta there ass and start getting more serious w bug fixes and proper optimization for consoles, instead of 200 new cosmetics and a broken chapter...

Didnt you already want to quit with the Ruin Rework? I swear, this might be the third time I see you writing that you quit.

  • Well, the only time I had you as Killer, you were the insulting part.

But see you next week I guess.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

    ...there is?

Unless I'm just not understanding you.

If your challenge is done, a big side bar and loud noise happens when you get to the character selection screen to tell you the challenge is done. If you ignored it, you hover your clicker on the right side and a big side bar will appear with "No challenge selected". If you're in the rift, completed challenges are a different color (or bright yellow if it's completed but not cashed in yet).

I'm not sure what else you want the game to do to inform you your challenge is done

OP means in the actual game. So for example, if I have to hide for 60 seconds next to the Killer with Dwight, that I know when those 60 seconds are done.

Would be totally fine if this would be visible when pressing Escape (or whatever Button it is on Console) so that you not only see the Offerings, but also the current Rift Challenge and the progress.

I mean, you were literally saying that base kit Billy is fine and only his charge time add-ons need to be nerfed not long time ago, so ...

Being the "most balanced Killer" and "being fine" is different. IMO Add On Changes would have been fine, but if the Devs want to change the Basekit, I can see why they are doing it (unlike a lot of other people, who are crying on the forum).

I also would not say that Billy was the "most balanced Killer": He was more at the Top of being balanced, meaning that every Killer stronger was not balanced anymore.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

    Just throwing this out there:

The great skill check bonus progression prevention when the numbers were crunched was the single strongest *reliable* slow down effect in the entire game.

With the then 1.6 seconds bonus progression on a generator 2 survivors getting a total of 10 great skill checks finished a generator in ~28.5 seconds which is the same time as if ALL 4 SURVIVORS WORKED ON A SINGLE GENERATOR.

Keep in mind 10 skill checks across 2 people isn't that uncommon in DBD.

Fun fact: you great skill check's bonus progression had to be CUT IN HALF after ruin was nerfed due to how powerful they were in reality.

"Fun fact: you great skill check's bonus progression had to be CUT IN HALF after ruin was nerfed due to how powerful they were in reality."

    Eh, disagree.

I think the Great Skill Check Progression-Bonus was cut in half because it was the easiest way to make Gens a little bit slower, without actually increasing the Gen Time. Like, you dont really need to think a lot about this or check if it is balanced or not.

  • They said 6 months at least after the Rift closes and for seasonal Cosmetics, when it fits (like the Nurse Halloween-Skin).

  • Apparently it is fun to go into a 20 minute queue just to end a game in 4 minutes by using a Mori on everyone after Unhook.

  • @FearlessHunter said:

Makes sense, I mean Billy is insane when you do certain perk combinations.

In all honesty I'm just glad bubba has finally gotten some love. Red ranks are boring when you see the same killers over and over so hopefully they continue to buff the weaker killers so we see a wider roster at red ranks.

Yeah, and his ability to sprint to the other side of the Map, kick the Gen with PGTW and then return back for the Unhook might have become too much over time. And lets not forget, everything which applies to standard M1-Killers will also apply to Billy, who has the same abilities like M1-Killers (in terms of Movement Speed and that he needs to loop), but also has really high Map Traverse or a quite easy to use Insta-Down without Setup.

Those are both things which are present on other Killers, but not both of it and weaker. Like, Freddy has the Teleport, but no Insta-Down. Myers and Ghostface have Insta-Downs, but no mobility and need Setup. Bubba has an Insta-Down without Setup, but not the Map Traverse. But Billy has it all and if something is good for M1-Killers, it is even better for Billy.

I am not happy with the Add Ons tho. I dont like some of those, because there is not really any real scenario where I want to be a 4,4m/s-Killer just for some Chargetime or where I want to go a little bit faster while being flashlighted.

Honestly, as survivor if the match loads into somewhere like Lery’s and Ruin pops up, my heart just sinks, and just hope and pray it’s the type of killer that stupidly over commits to long chases.

Yeah, I also look for the Totem after doing the first Gen, at least for some time. Before, I did not really care, if I stumble across Ruin, I will cleanse it, but I will not search for it (because this was the biggest Timewaster).

But now, I simply cannot stand to think that my Gen will regress to 0 while I am being chased or need to do other stuff like Unhooks, lol.

I also feel that more Killers get to like new Ruin, because I have it in quite a bunch of my games, roughly every second or third game a Killer is using Ruin.

  • @vandromar312 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1427536#Comment_1427536

The Ruin nerf was targeted to benefit SWF teams that sucked at hitting skillchecks.

Right now as a killer, Ruin will destroy non-swf teams harder than the old ruin, but it will do absolutely nothing against competent SWF teams.

So all in all, these devs managed to make the problem worse with a very silly rework.

Oh, come on, you cannot blame everything on SWF, lol.

  • @FearlessHunter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1427542#Comment_1427542

Personally I don't care about the nerfs but isn't the reason why people keep saying that was because the devs themselves said that he was a 'golden example of a balanced killer' back when there were loads of nerf billy threads?

The thing is, Billy might have been the most balanced Killer in a time where playing Killer was way harder. But if you change a lot of things over the years which help Killers and nerf Survivors, is Billy still the "most balanced Killer"? But I fear that this will not be understood that if the game becomes easier for Killer, Killers also need to be nerfed.

I mean, just look at the Ruin Change. Killers are doing fine. But tell someone in 2017 or 2018 "Hey, we are changing Ruin".

And this will also affect other Killers in the Future, even Killes who are not really said to be really strong. I mean, Huntress will get a Add On-Rework, this is clear. But also stuff like Tampered Timer of Pig or another Nerf of Spirit Add Ons is something I would see possible in the future.

  • But: "Billy is the most balanced Killer". If you repeat it, it will become true!

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Why do players still insist on looking at the Ruin change as a nerf?!

Its impact isn’t felt early on in the match, but against a skilled killer that is excellent at managing their gen pressure, new Ruin is a total nightmare by mid game if the totem is in a difficult to find spot. Losing so much repair progress so frequently each and every time someone is chased off a gen is leaps and bounds more useful to the killer than old Ruin ever was.

    ^ this.

Instead of just giving a Benefit without any effort, Ruin actually rewards good Killers now. For me, Ruin is more annoying to go against, I was able to hit Great Skillchecks 9/10 times. But now everytime I need to go for an Unhook or if the Killer chases me, my Gen will go down, which is more pressure for me as the Survivor.

I really dont know how players can still complain about the Ruin-Change. As if old Ruin was really that good to begin with, people non-stop complained about the Totem being found early, but once they announced the Change, this did not matter at all. PGTW was the better Slowdown anyway and stacking those was not really cool (in general, stacking Slowdown-Perks shows that the Killer isnt that good IMO).

And I can totally understand the frustration of players who were not able to hit Great Skillchecks. You struggle to get a Gen done and then the Killer comes around and kicks 25% of your progress away.

And in the end, it gives more variety this way - Instead of just slapping on BBQ + Ruin + PGTW + any other Perk, Killers have to think about either using Ruin OR PGTW (or having the risk to play with 3 Perks all the time).

  • Make the Roar play the whole time he is using his Chainsaw!

  • They do care.

But the DBD-Community is most likely the most whiny community on the Internet. If they would to listen to everything and care for everything and do, we would have a huge mess of a game.

  • @Avocet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/170076/dont-get-your-hopes-up

Agree. No matter how many people say they'd quit because of Billy's changes, the devs would adjust the new mechanic at best.

Not that those people would be quitting anyway.

  • "What made Billy special was he could apply heavy pressure in the chase and outside of the chase, while having simple counters to his sprint. "

Well, I guess what made him special was the problem.

Look, you cannot really balance with Billy in mind. For me, he is fine, aside from his Add Ons. But it should also be considered that he is a standard M1-Killer, so if the game becomes easier for those, it will become easier for Billy as well.

And unlike other M1-Killers, he has insane Map Mobility (which can only be seen from Freddy) and an insta-Down, which is quite easy to land and which does not require much Setup (unlike Myers or Ghostface).

Again that doesn't make sense. Because it makes the current prestige meaningless since clothing gets bloody naturally in the match. It seems much more likely that its a bug.

I mean, if a big, mean guy hits you with his weapon, you surely get hurt and bloody. Now someone stitches you back together - why should your clothes be clean afterwards?
