  • Trading a Perk Slot for a Commodious Toolbox is pretty good? Not at all, Perk Slots are more valuable than Item Slots. It would be decent with an old Toolbox, but not with the bad new ones.

    Fast Track is hot garbage.

  • I am quite sure that more people will use DS in the near future. It has happened before that something that was commonly run before getting nerfed was not used after a Nerf - e.g. you did not see any Spirits after they nerfed her Add Ons, but only for a short period of time. The only time where DS was not really useful was when they added the Unhook-Requirement and the stun was 3 seconds, because 3 seconds of stun was not enough to be useful at all.

I personally run DS, just to make sure there is an Obsession. And got to use it quite a lot already, because Killers obviously try to tunnel more, because thats what they usually want :^) Also got Salt two times because of DS already, guess I am a toxic Survivor Main for trying to survive now.

But I had to equip Object when using my BP-Offerings on the new Survivor, because nobody else was running Obsession Perks for two games in a row, so I needed to create an Obsession (was the only Obsession-Perk I had). If I think about Killers on this forum saying "Run another Obsession-perk then if you want an Obsession", the Killers I faced were also not happy when I did that.

  • I mean, Survivors are not getting good Perks, this is correct. And considering how some people on these Forums throw a tantrum each Chapter when a new Survivor Perk is released where they think it is OP (this Chapter: Fast Track and Smash Hit, both already dont see any use), you can also say that they are not allowed to have good Perks.

However, Survivors only being in the game to feed Killers Kills - nah, that is going too far. Survivor gameplay is fine, Gens are a bit boring, but personally, I dont mind that. The only thing that makes Survivor gameplay miserable are some Killers, like old Legion. Or, recently, Iri Head Huntress, Stridor Spirit, stacking multiple Slowdown Perks (especially as Freddy)... but the Survivor gameplay per se is fine.

  • This would make sense if you would be forced to play Trickster. You are not.

Yes, he is not a good Killer. But that does not mean that you have to play him, you can play one of the other Killers and do fine.

Killer is really the easiest it has ever been. And it will probably get even easier in the future.

Sure. But in order to take an advantage from the killer, they have to take one from survivors as well. It's only fair.

    Thats not how balancing works.

    @Topic:

I dont get why Killers want the red stain to be removed. They can mindgame with it. Like, they want to keep things like J-Flicks, because they "add depths to Killers", but hiding the Red Stain is not "depth" at all apparently.

Obviously Bloodlust should go, it is an outdated mechanic. As Killer, I would like the Red Stain to stay, since it is a tool for mindgames. As Survivor, I dont mind if it is there or not.

  • Kobes are not bugged. The usual stuff happens for me, whenever I want to suicide, I kobe (like, the game wants to give this Forever Freddy or Iri Head-Huntress another Hook I guess...), but when I want to kobe because nobody is getting me or I am the last one hooked, the game is "Nah". So normal for me.

Regarding Chests, one day I got a lot of purple Items. But yesterday I only got trash again (except for green Keys, when it comes to rarity, but the item itself is trash).

  • @FrostySeal said:

I'm pretty sure that every setting above low makes the game look much, much more darker, so that could be why Autohaven is brighter for some people. Pretty sure Tru3 plays on ultra and Otz plays on low/medium. I play on low and autohaven looks pretty bright.

This is correct, playing on low makes the game brighter (which should not be the case IMO, but eh). I play on Medium currently (RIP my GPU, and ######### you high GPU-prices, lol), and the Map is as Dark as it was on Ultra.

However, I dont think it is too dark. If you look at DBD a few years ago, it was way darker. And looked better IMO. Like, old Lightning and a Moonlight-Offering for brightest Moonlight was still darker than what we currently have.

BUT I have to say, sometimes I have seen really dark Maps on Streams.

Hmm,it would be interesting to see both changes tested.

I just think my idea is easier to implement because you don't need to worry about potential balancing issues that might happen with it.

Surely it would be easier to implemented that all Survivors start together all the time. I also did not mean that my idea should be implemented at all. Personally, I just like it if Survivors dont spawn together, completely irrelevant for gameplay. For gameplay, it is obviously better if they spawn together.

But I doubt that their idea will be something simple like "Spawn all 4 Survivors together all the time". But this would be the first step, yes.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2076058#Comment_2076058

I think they could just start small and let survivors always spawn together and after that decide if there are more changes needed.

Could be. Just a gamemechanic is difficult to balance. It might be really good for Trapper, but way too much on Spirit.

Personally, I like that Survivors do not spawn together, completely irrelevant that this gives them an advantage. At some point I thought about a reduced Repair Speed (just some percent), which gets removed when the Survivors get the "Reunited" Scoring Event, which is awarded when meeting another Survivor in the Trial for the first time.

So if they spawn far apart, they have a small penalty, but once they meet, they remove this penalty. And if a Survivor has seen all 3 other Survivors, they will repair at normal speed.

Could also be explained lorewise by giving hope to the Survivors when they see their teammates. Would also make Shrouds more useful, so a purple Shroud will basically guarantee that they get rid of the penalty immediatly, but the Killer still has some use, because now they all spawned together.

But, the problem with that is, it might benefit SWF more than Solos. (But it is questionable if SWFs would decide to meet at the start of the game just to get rid of a small penalty)

  • I had it for one day that I got purple Items back to back (mostly Alex Toolbox) in Chests. But the past two days, I only got brown stuff, highlight was a green Medkit (and two green Keys, but only mentioning those for their rarity).

But I have read other people (on Twitter and talked on stream) that something seems weird.

  • Even without the J-Flick Blight is easily one of the strongest Killers in the game.

  • They said they developed the initial idea they had into something else. But no other information given so far.

Personally, I would not say it is needed. And it is certainly a pain in the ass to balance I guess.

This is basically all reworked maps, tbh. RNG in every direction. Shelter Woods didn't get changed, and was already like this, same for Gas Heaven.

I have never seen it so far on the reworked Maps. I have seen Deadzones on Autohaven, but not that much during the last weeks. Just Storehouse so far which got Double Pallets, if it spawned too many T/L-Walls.

I don’t even see why it matters in a tournament considering it’s all nurses anyways. Which is another reason why DBD tournaments are lame, there’s only 2 killers played and both of them have super boring gameplay. So you have boring killer gameplay and then the survivor gameplay is holding M1 so....

I don’t think I’ve ever watched a DBD tournament for more than like 2-3 minutes.

Yeah, have to agree on that one. In a tournament environment, other Killers as Nurse or Spirit are not playable. In the regular queue, you can play every Killer, but not in tournaments.

I also dont think that DBD is a game for tournaments at all. I also never enjoyed watching them.

    @Trashmaster said:

This could easily be fixed by adding the "new" tiles to the old maps, the horrible TL-wall chains would be extremely unlikely with just 2-3 more tiles

    Yes!

I dont know why they put new Tiles on Yamaoka and Ormond, but not on any other Maps. In general, I would be happy to have some new Tiles on older Maps and not only Jungle Gyms, Longwalls or T/L-Walls.

But then again, not everyone is playing for so long, so too many different tiles might be confusing for newer Survivors or Killers.

  • @eloise said:

And same bug with the new perk from the new killer for block the gate doesn't work when you close the hatch?

Same reason why it does not work - it requires the last Gen to be done.

  • Not a Bug. Rancor requires the last Gen being done, not the Exit Gates powered (like NOED or Adrenaline for example). Just compare the descriptions and you will see the difference.

Since the last Gen did not get done but EGC started because you closed the Hatch, Rancor does not activate.

  • It looks great. I dont have anything against Sets, but I dont like if the first 1080 AC-Cosmetic for a Character is a Set. The same happened with Elodie (even worse, it was a Christmas-Onesie...).

Mix&Match is obviously better, but I dont mind Sets, however, when it is basically the only good-looking Option, it looks kinda lame if everyone playing that Character looks the same.

I’ll see your empty map and raise you 5 pallets perfectly in a row

This is Storehouse, the Map is doing that since the Rework. Whenever more T/L-Walls spawn, there are less Jungle Gyms, so they place Double Pallets (or sometimes 4 Pallets in that area of the video).

I dont know what is doing that, I guess because they removed the two guaranteed spawns inside the Storehouse. Maybe they can find a way to spawn less T/L-Walls and more Jungle Gyms/Longwalls, to avoid having 2 or more Pallets in that specific spot (or, they remove the Breakable Wall and add those two Pallets back).

    @MadLordJack said:

Yes, and I've experienced the precise opposite. DbD seems to think that "RNG" means "Lacks Any Consistency."

Although maybe calling this the reason tournaments are stupid is a bit of a stretch...

    On Suffocation Pit as well?

And regarding tournaments, it is one reason why tournaments are stupid. You cannot really compare games if one Killer gets Suffocation Pit like seen in the video and the other player has a lot of Jungle Gyms in the center area.

Map Seeds would at least remove that reason against tournaments.

  • Not bannable. Just dont help Killers with farming or Challenges then. I also stopped doing it after a Legion killed me when I helped him get his Challenge to stab 5 people, so he killed myself and the other guy helping him.

Its a scummy move to pretend you are farming as Killer and then kill the people you are farming with, but it is not bannable. Makes it harder for those who actually need help with their Challenges, but eh.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

Yep its been my experience with a lot of the McMillan maps for a while(Long before this update) its why there are times where the game is just too rigged against the survivors for them to realistically win and vice versa for killers when the opposite happens.

Its also why KR statistics need to be taken with a massive pile of salt because of this non-sense.

In general, I only saw this happen on Storehouse that Double Pallets spawned, because most Maze Tiles were T/Ls, which forced the Map Generator to bring Double Pallets to reach the minimum amount of Pallets.

But so far, since the Update dropped, all MacMillan-Maps have been fine for me, except for the two times I was on Suffocation Pit. (But the number of games in total is pretty small, since the Update dropped a little bit over 2 days ago, but having this strange RNG on Suffocation Pit two times in a row and seeing Scotts video made me wonder)

  • I play both sides. But hardly Solo anymore, when I play alone, I play Killer, when my friend is online, SWF.

It is enough to worry about two randoms, three is too much.

  • Nah, I dont see them really often. The Killer I see the most is Huntress. But other than her, the rest is pretty even, aside from stuff like Twins or Plague played pretty rarely.

And you also dont need to play Spirit or Nurse at Red Ranks. Every Killer can be played at Red Ranks.

Then I have no clue how he kept shooting to my location even when hiding. It's like he just... knew o was hiding behind that tree or pallet.

Could be another Aura Read (e.g. he has an Add On which shows the Aura if a Survivor touchs a Blood Orb. It also makes the Survivors to consume the Bloodorb). Or other stuff like BBQ, Discordance...

    Or, simply guessing.

  • No, he does not have Killer Instinct.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2067244#Comment_2067244

I think the aura read is still a fair trade off. Despite earning the 3 tokens, being hit by the killer is still essentially a chase that would have otherwise been lost. If the survivor chooses to heal, this be 2 hit state again, the killer should get a chance at retribution

The Killer got 3 Healthstates for free before tho. You basically have to throw the game to make MoM work.

  • I only focussed on the part which OP did not understand. I guess they knew that the Aura Read will stop when they are downed.

  • I guess there will be more DS in the future. It always happens that if something is nerfed, nobody runs it. The only time where no DS was used was when the stun was at 3 seconds (after they added the Unhook-requirement), because 3 seconds was meaningless.

Until then, I have to run Object to create an Obsession, because I am grinding the new Survivor and I dont have any other Obsession-Perk.

But I guess in one or two weeks, more people will play DS, because it is sadly needed.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen a single Twins profile pic ever since I found out about the forums. Wow.

I mean, Twins look ugly as hell.

  • Permanently, whenever you are more than 16 meters away (at Tier 3).

For why this is the case - this is a relict from old Mettle of Man. It is basically a Cashgrab, was released way too strong in a Only-Survivor-Paragraph (there needs to be an incentive for people to buy it). In its original state it was only useable once and it only required 3 Basic Attacks to activate. They nerfed it a little bit later, but the Aura Read stayed (this was the biggest Drawback back then).

Aura Read could be removed nowadays, the Perk is not strong at all.

They don't listen. People have complained about the state of killer for 4, going on 5 years. They refused to listen and now survivors queues take forever and everyone is unhappy, who could have imagined?

Everything they have done shows they have no intention of ever balancing the game. The maps are still #########, the maps have been ######### for 4 years with no fix in sight. Maps like badham and haddonfield. SWF still get to abuse everything in the game and become an unstoppable force. Heck just look at halloween last year, killers get a junk add on thats only for a limited time and survivors get a speed boost they can use in chase and they're still using them today. Shows who the "fun" is designed for. Most things on the survivor side still have no counterplay other than "hope the survivor screws up". Then you get archive challenges encouraging survivors to do things killers dont find fun like saboing hooks, or using keys to escape.

I disagree massively with your assessment of the killers but iirc you're the guy who said Demogorgan is a strong killer?

They do listen. Killer became easier and easier over the years. It is the easiest it has ever been. If someone now struggles at playing Killer on a regular basis (everyone has bad games, but not consistently), they are bad at the game. Sorry for saying the truth.

I said Demo is a solid Killer with only the Add Ons needing any rework. There are at least 10 Killers who are stronger than him. But nice try twisting my words.

  • @VikingWilson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2065840#Comment_2065840

You're talking like it's a one-off when this happens all. The. Time.

Aside from Twins and Trickster, every Killer released since Plague was at least decent. They are all solid Killers who got released, with some of them really strong (PH, Deathslinger, Oni, Blight). So if we look at the past 2 years, it is more an exception than the rule that a weak Killer gets released.

When it comes to listening, I said that not doing something does not mean that they are not listening. But people on this forum are experts in saying that the Devs dont listen if they dont react ASAP.

  • There is a difference between "The Devs dont listen" and "The Devs dont react to feedback with immediate changes". They are listening, but that does not mean that they are doing everything the people asked for ASAP.

Like, the world does not go down when there is one bad Killer released. If you dont like Trickster, dont buy it. There are so many Killers in DBD to play and at some point, they will most likely buff Trickster.

One was a streamer 4 man which they all said in post game they were using it. Another i had asked because it was alittle suspicious how me as ghostface behind a haybail in stealth mode the survivor on the other side perfectly keeps moving in the opposite direction. And i just asked a few others i was suspicious of. Big surprise they werent afraid of telling me "because its not bannable to change your resolution".

mkay. I wouldnt even bother to ask to be honest, I dont care that much about Stretched Res, because I can only see it when it is a Streamer (and I have seen a Killer who had the mother of all stretched res yesterday, his game looked so bad and his Blight was almost wider than tall, lol).

Both should be fixed, obviously. But I think J-Flicks are easier to fix than Stretched Resolution. (But I know that people will come up with BHVR favoring Survivor when they can fix one exploit, but are not able to fix another one)

  • @supersonic853 said:

Faced 9 survivors with stretched res today completly "mindgaming me" not like they can see over the structure or something. Hope this gets fixed its been a thing for 2 years.

How do you know that they had stretched res? Were they all Streamers?

  • PTBs are only there to hype people for the next Chapter. They are basically playable teasers. You dont get any information out of PTBs, because Matchmaking is non-existent and everyone who is playing the new Killer does not really have an optimal build, because it is impossible to get enough Perks with the limited amount of BPs, even if you save as much as possible for PTBs.

The Devs said that PTBs are also an option for them to get feedback earlier so that they can start working earlier, but I doubt that. If we look at the past 3 PTBs:

    • Twins-PTB with a lot of stuff which was simply forgotten. E.g. Victor being completely helpless against Lockers, this is an oversight which should not happen. The big camping potential of Twins also seems to be nothing which the Devs were aware at all.
    • UI-Changes which nobody asked for, which were bad and the new UI is STILL not even close as good as the old UI. Considering that the Lead UI-Designer has years of experience, a little bit underwhelming, to say it nicely.
    • And finally, Trickster-PTB. I dont think that Trickster is as bad as people claim him to be, he is not strong by any means, but he is not terrible. He will be able to perform in Red Ranks (like every Killer), but he has his limits. So far I only went against 1 good Trickster (someone I know, really good Killer player) and that person won. The others lost so far.

But yeah, PTBs are only there to hype and make players exicted for the next Chapter.

  • @_HN_ said:

"Let's get this out of the way first... DS does NOT prevent tunneling. If the killer is going to tunnel you, they'll do it even after you use DS on them. It just prolongs it by 5 seconds."

And I stopped reading right there. Very first sentence. GJ.

DS stuns the killer for 5 full seconds, this means the survivor will have 5 seconds to run.

    A survivor run at 4 m/s, a standard killer run at 1.15 this speed so 4.6 m/s.

This means that to cover the 4x5 m the survivor gained during that stun he will have to travel for 20/0.6 seconds ie 33 seconds. So a DS will wast AT LEAST 38 seconds for the killer.

And that's best case scenario, on an open field without any windows of pallets that would give more time for the survivor.

Anyone knows that if a survivor manage to DS you when a gate is open, EVEN if you are on the other side of the map, said survivor will have more than enough time to get out, especially if there's someone to do a lil bit of body-block.

So yeah. No, you are clearly clueless about what DS even does when it comes to time.

The distance is smaller. Roughly 1,3 seconds are used for the animation alone, meaning that the distance gained is not 5 seconds, it is 3,7 seconds x 4 meters, meaning it is around 15 meters. Not much, bit a difference.

And, against the strongest Killers, DS did nothing. A Nurse, Spirit or Blight were right there after the stun.

  • Obviously there should be an Obsession in every game. I dont have DS on the new Survivor, so I ended up in a game without Obsession (in fact, I only have Object as Obsession-Perk so far, I can run that, but then Killers are also unhappy...). And that Blight was tunneling, because, why not? Nothing to prevent him from doing so.

(Lovely person btw, small Streamer, stretched res of Doom (I have seen one VoD his Blight was basically a circle in the Lobby...), calling Survivors "Dogs"... But I guess he only had a bad time against some Survivors :^) )

  • I would not say it needs a Buff NOW, but I hope that at some point they increase the Anti-Tunnel aspect. Like, DS can be a big middlefinger for a tunneling Killer, I am totally fine with that.

Like, hide Scratchmarks or Bloodtrails for like 10 seconds when using DS. Or increase the timer to 90 seconds or even 2 minutes so it does not go down while chasing.

Since Survivors with DS cannot progress the game anymore without losing their DS immediatly, it is totally fine to punish tunneling Killers harder than currently.

generators already get done at ludicrous speeds.

if all 4 survivors have ds, that's potentially 8 stuns for the killer.

    no.

Wild idea - you can go for other Survivors. I know, shocking, eh? Took me over 5000 hours in DBD to come to this conclusion, happy to share my experience here.

  • Most likely a Bug, there is no mention about a change in the Patchnotes. If it is indeed intended (I doubt it), it should be reverted.

  • Nope. But I dont open Forum Threads and say how bad or OP a Killer is as long as I have not played them for a long time.

  • Yes. It is disabled since yesterday, because there is a Tile which Survivors can go into, but Killers cannot.

Once it is fixed, the Devs will enable the Maps again.

  • Did you play one or two games with him before opening this Thread?

    @Topic:

I am always amazed how people confuse "listening to feedback" with "being forced to change something". If they dont change something immediatly, this does not mean that they are not listening.

  • "We have asked 100 Forum and Reddit Killers and those were the results..."

Nah. The last time we had stats SWFs were only a little bit higher when it came to escapes. But those stats are old and the Devs say themselves to not interprete too much into them (which is basically an invitation for some to cherrypick the stats they like and dismiss those they dont like).

So yeah, there is not really an evidence that SWF needs a nerf.

Lol Freddy is braindead but hold W around a loop is mensa level gameplay.

Why do killers need to be harder to play? Why not make survivors require some brainpower for a change?

Do you think that Freddy has the correct balance between effort and Strength? IMO the contestants for the third place Killer are:

Freddy, Hag, Blight, Oni, Pyramid Head. Those for sure. Maybe Billy, Huntress and Deathslinger as well.

And now compare the effort of all of them with Freddy. It should be easy to see that Freddy is way too easy for his Kit.

  • Yeah, maybe PGTW should also be reworked that it can regress Exit Gates. You know, so that Freddy can have something to do when he teleports to one of them.

Seriously, he is strong enough and needs a Nerf which makes him actually need to have a brain to be played. Also, the Devs considered teleports to Exit Gates when they reworked him, but were against it. So they already thought about it.
