  • Killers: Survivors are only using Second Chance Perks!

    Also Killers: Just use DS!

    Seriously..

I don't think so, that would imply that DC penalty was killer sided change as well which it was not.

It significantly lowered the amount of survivors who insta DCed vs anything they didn't like, making solo que exprience more bearable and promoting healthy gameplay. This change is exactly the same as people who want to quit will at least serve their team as a temporary distraction for the killer, any time he wastes on hooknig or even camping them will benefit the other 3 survivors doing gens.

Killers don't get anything of value from survivors beiing unable to instantly kill themself, don't even metion hatch as a killer that doesn't want to give hatch, will just slug and you'll be forced to DC if you want to give it.

It's a very good QoL change that also wastes a bit more of killer's time on quitters, giving survivor slightly more time to do gens when their teammate quits on them. I look forward to it a lot as a survivor.

    You wont change my mind.

But, DC-penalty was also only beneficial for the Killer - since for Survivors it does not any difference if that person is suiciding on their first hook or DCing. However, Killers get their sweet BBQ-Stack - the only thing they cared about. Killers dont care for the Survivor experience for the most part. So stop pretending they do.

With the Changes (DC-Penalty and Hook Skill Checks) players can quit out of the game like always - just with some detours. Those detours only benefit the Killer (DC Penatly-->BBQ-Stacks, Skill Checks-->Suiciding for Hatch takes longer), for the Survivor it does not change anything (DC-Penalty-->Players suicide, Skill Checks-->The player who wanted to suicide will go afk or sandbag you).

EDIT: The only thing that would make sense (before any DC-Penalty and other stuff) is to remove those things which make people DC in the first place. For Survivors it would be part of Freddys Kit (which will be adjusted, most likely nerfed), Iri Head and stuff like that. Yes, there will be people who DC against a addonless Clown, because they are sore losers. But doing something against the reasons to DC is way better than just adding detours which help the Killer.

  • "useless pile of #########" is not censored. Avoiding the Chat Filter by writing a few words with spaces in between them does work as well, got insulted that way.

I mean, I am fine with that, I dont care about some keyboard warrior insulting me in an onlinegame. But it shows that the filter is not even working.

Forcing a mandatory Chat Filter upon all players is simply nonsense and the Devs should really make it optional.

What do you propose to do 2 weeks after every match is given an obsession, when killers learn it's just a bluff and act as though it isn't there every single game? I think a lot of people forget that both sides are equally capable of reading updates.

The thing is, creating an Obsession would at least give the Killer a choice if they want to take a risk or not. If they do and the Survivor does not have DS, the Killer knows this. If he does not take the risk, it at least gave him a reason to not tunnel the person off the hook.

However, without Obsession, there is no risk involved, most of the time Killers just go for the tunnel, because it is the easiest way to win (and we all know how easy Killers want to have it :) ):

I mean, currently I am even using suboptimal builds on my Killers - if I would like to play scummy and tunnel one person out of the game ASAP, I would stop using STBFL. This Perk currently hinders me more, because it is creating an Obsession. Without this, I would know that nobody is running DS and I would be free to tunnel - which would be more effective than using any Perk.

    Does not sound right, eh?

  • The Downside is fine. Hillbilly does not need Charge Add Ons in the first place, so giving one of the Add Ons which reduce the Charge Time a big downside is fine (the other one has requirements).

  • @Kebek said:

How can anyone consider the removal of struggling and instant hook suicides a bad change or even killer sided change.

It encourages people to not give up instantly and straight up prevent accidental hook suicides. If the survivor doesn't want to play at any cost, he can still go afk but at least he'll be a distraction for the killer so that others can do gens a bit longer or get a few more alturism points they would otherwise lose out on beiing get punished for them quitting.

I still don't support the idea that survivors should be able to die and leave whenever they please with 0 penalty and this helps with it a lot. Imagine if killers had that option.

First two minutes didn't go well (gens go fast or you can't catch a good player or something like that) any killer could just press a buttom, leave with all his BP etc, no penalty and cancels the match for the other 4 people forcing them to re-que. And that can happen every game if you get several sore loser killers in a row.

And that would definetly happen quite often if killers were given the choice to quit. It's much better to encourage both sides to stay in a match as long as possible, not give them an option to quit whenever they want.

It is quite obvious that it is killer-sided. The Killer is the only person who benefits from that change.

For Survivors, nothing will change. Someone who wanted to suicide on hook will not play normally afterwards, they dont want to stay in this game, so they will not do Gens or anything. At best, they go afk. At worst, they sandbag the players who unhooked them.

Sure, for the Killer it is good, because people cannot suicide for Hatch. And some more points, because they can rehook them again. Yay. But for Survivors, this changes exactly nothing. Maybe you can get an Unhook, this is ok, but it does not matter at all if the game stays a 3v1 at this point.

So, yeah, there is 0 difference between a person suiciding on their first hook and them standing afk next to the hook after unhooking them.

(I mean, it is not like Killers cared for hook suicides in the first place, as long as it does not involve the hatch, lets be honest here. :) So Killers are obviously happy because it benefits them. For Survivors, nothing changes, maybe it will get even worse, depending on what kind of person the guy who got unhooked while suiciding is.)

Nurse is considered the second strongest killer to most people, some say strongest, so if ur going for that is say nurse, blight is only really strong if you use an exploit to cheese some hits

Nurse is the strongest. This is honestly nothing to discuss.

    @Topic:

If you want to learn the Killer and have endurance, Nurse. She is the strongest Killer in the game and basically busted. But, if you just want to main a good Killer, go for Blight. IMO it is not really worth to learn Nurse anymore, there are many alternatives to play which might not be as strong as her, but will win you most of the games.

Learning Nurse might have been more needed in 2016/2017, because Survivors had really strong stuff and there were not many Killers strong enough, but times have changed.

  • But then you would need a new excuse why you are losing games.

Plus the time taken to walk to it, plus the time lost losing the survivor you were chasing just to be forced to break it. plus the time lost on a health state you should have been able to remove earlier.

As much as you try to blow up breakable Walls as a problem for Killer, they really arent.

  • I said, for the most part. IMO Storehouse and The Game are examples where a Map does not need a breakable Wall. I would gladly remove all breakable Walls on The Game (and some Pallets) and the Wall on Storehouse as well, in exchange for the two unsafe Pallets which where in the Main Building before.

Saloon also is a little bit over the top with breakable Walls.

But for the rest, I think breakable Walls are fine. Not a big fan of them, but they will be added to Maps and so we have to live with them.

  • @GeordieKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2092927#Comment_2092927

Yeah have to disagree Breakable Walls are a issue for killers as it does create infintes and God Loops, but hey killer can get rid of them just by breaking them not like you were in a middle of a chase or you have to waste vaualbel time to break a wall so there isnt a issue for later on the game. The walls were meant to be something for killers but somehow a vast majority of them is a benefit for survivors i do admit they have some for killers the bedham school is one but vast majority of them is killer has to break or you have a infinte on your hands.

Sorry that you have to waste 2 seconds of your life to break a wall which makes the Loop useless. The Main Buildings with Breakable Walls mostly did not have anything left after the rework. You will not lose a game when you have to break 1 Wall.

And in the end, complaining about them does not do anything, Devs want to force them through, so just live with them.

Same. And the one thing that worries me the most, is the Torment Creek's infinite returning because of breakable walls.

It is always funny when people claim that Infinites are back because of breakable Walls while they forget that those God Loops were removed a few months before.

Breakable Walls are, for the most part, no issue.

  • Killers being looked at:

    Huntress, Demo and Freddy.

Demo should be next on the list, they said it in a recent Q&A. But no ETA given and maybe it will even change until then.

so suggesting gates to regress means I'm some survivor main troll?

Nah. But you fail to understand that EGC is not a handholding Killer Mechanic.

And, to be honest, you could have used the Search Function and would have been able to find 100 threads (at least) about the same topic.

  • EGC is only a tool to force the game to an end at some point. This is why the Killer is able to open the Exit Gates. If you want EGC to start, open them yourself.

EGC is killer-sided, but not meant to be an extra tool of pressure for the Killer. This is why 99ing the Exit Gates is possible (Devs thought about making them regress, but were against it) and why the times is slower when a Survivor is slugged or hooked.

  • Other way around, the Killer should also not be able to see the Survivors Names or Profiles.

    Yess, this is wonderful.

Of course they are listening. They listen all the time.

What some people dont understand is that listening does not mean to react immediatly (or that they have to react at all).

  • Were are you from? From my experience, Huntress is played a lot on EU-Servers, many Russian players are playing her, most likely because she is a Russian Character. She is by far the Killer I encounter the most.

Also, she is pretty fun to play.

  • I dont run it anymore, but it is one of my favorite Perks and quite underrated.

However, I used it recently because I am prestiging the new Survivor and We Will Make It is not good for my mental health. 9/10 times the person I unhook runs away. Really, this is so ######### annoying, they run away and end up in an area which is not even more safe to heal. And sometimes, because they run away, there is not even enough time to heal them in 8 seconds anymore, because they ran towards the Killer.

  • 0.

But I was not hit much more by DS before the Rework. Got to use a couple DS myself tho.

  • No, nothing which is usual in a Chase is applied against a cloaked Wraith - so you will not get any BPs, but there also will be no Entity Blocker or Bloodlust.

I guess you will see it more often that Wraith-players will cloak during the Chase, since now you can actually do that. Before you needed Windstorm Add-Ons, now he is fast enough at base to use his power in Chases.

Cat Block-Addon (snares inflict bleeding for 60s) for Freddy is another way. You can get it even faster that way.

Can confirm, works great. Did it that way, you can get 2 Hits for the Challenge with each Down when doing it like that.

It's a quality of life change for survivors. It might have some negative side effects, but most people don't want to have to button mash like crazy. How does one turn this into "yet another improvement for killers"?

Not to mention the fact that suiciding only ######### up the rest of the team. So it's good if that's not possible anymore.

The thing is, it wont change anything. Someone who wanted to suicide will not continue playing normally. So it does not matter for the Survivors if that person is dead or still playing. If anything, it can get worse with them on the team.

Like, I have seen people following me the entire game trying to sandbag or throwing down every Pallet, when I (in the first case) or someone else (later case) got them before they suicided. Which is the main reason why I dont try that again, they are better of dead than sandbagging.

Talking only about Hook Suicides here. No need to understand me wrong on purpose.

  • Because the Devs like to add things which nobody asked for.

Like a Chat filter in a game which should only be played by players who are 18+ anyway. Mandatory of course, because everyone needs to be equally protected by evil internet kids, whether they want it or not.

EDIT: Just to clarify, a Chat Filter is good in general. But it is way too strict and being mandatory is just bad.

i don't expect the tilted survivor main to not suicide at the slightest hint of probable loss, but if you stop trying to suicide or afk and play the game, you'll earn more bloodpoints and the game will be more fun

this isn't a killer sided change, if the survivor already abandoned their teammates before and now. it's a good and requested change for players who don't want to break their button or hurt their hands, and that is the majority of players.

It is 100% good for those who dont want to mash buttons. But it is bad that there is no option to suicide. And, as I said, only Killers benefit from that.

Someone who wants to suicide on Hook does not care about BPs and will probably not have fun in that game (because otherwise they dont want to suicide on Hook in the first place). So it does nothing to unhook those people, except that they might sandbag you afterwards.

If someone wants to suicide on hook, just let them. They wont be of use anyway, even if they are unhooked before suiciding.

The only benefit is for Killers, they avoid people suiciding to give others hatch (or at least prolong it), but thats about it.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

    Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Personally I'm glad hook suicides are gone even if it means you can't help another survivor get the hatch. Sacrifices must be made for the greater good!

Yeah, once again something only done for Killers. There is nothing gained for Survivors that Hook Suicides are prolonged, someone who wants to suicide on hook will not play the game normally after getting unhooked.

At best, they go afk, at worst, they sandbag the Survivors who unhooked them. Yay.

  • It is bad against SWF and can be decent against Solos. This makes the Perk a bad design already, things should not be weak against SWFs and strong against Solos.

The general concept of Blindness should be reworked. Maybe a worse FoV, paired with the deafness-effect (which Knockout or one Hag Add On have). This would affect Solos and SWFs, however, I can imagine it will be pretty painful to go against (I really dislike the deafening from Knockout for example, it is hurting my ears).

  • The thing is, yes, the BP-Codes and Archive Challenges reduce the grind. However, there is still A LOT of grind.

I have 5600 hours, I have every Perk unlocked on every Survivor (except for the new one and her Perks) and many Killers with every Perk (except for Trickster and his Perks). I was not optimal during all the time, e.g. a huge portion I only played my Mains and did not put any BPs in other Characters. However, I am not even close to being finished and have more hours than many other players.

And, a BP-Code for 100k BPs, what is that? 2 Bloodwebs. This is 4 Perks. Like, whenever a new Character comes out to get their Perks on other Characters, you need to do at least 5 Bloodwebs, if I am calculating correctly to get all Perks. This is far easier on Killer, since they get much more BPs and have easier access to double BPs. However, this will also take long, even if you play Killer all the time with BBQ equipped.

    The grind is still massive.

New Ruin is absolute trash. It does nothing when a survivor hugs a gen. Now asking, that killers need to chase survivors off the gens is a insult to every killer who used Undying Ruin. Because guess what, killers did exactly that, survivors didn´t like it and got it nerfed. The new Ruin was only good in combination with the old Undying.

"Now asking, that killers need to chase survivors off the gens is a insult to every killer who used Undying Ruin."

Oh, wow, the Killer has to apply pressure. Sorry that Killers have to do something to get their Kills.

  • I really hope they keep Hook Suicides in the game.

Yes, I know, all Killers want to have this, because no Survivor should get the Hatch. But it does nothing for Survivors that Hook Suicides are prolonged by that. A person who does not want to play the game will not start playing if they get unhooked, if they originally wanted to suicide. If anything, they will be more annoying and sabotaging their team, if they dont go afk (which would be better tbh, lol).

  • Three questions:

How long are you playing (since when?)?

At which Rank are you playing?

    Do you even play Survivor?

  • No, complete Red Forest is currently disabled.

  • Not being salty in Endgame-Chat.

But jokes aside, nothing you could have done. But I would not bother at this point about a Key Escape - it was not your fault that they escaped, you could not have prevented it, so nothing on your side. Keys are getting changed at some point, so lets hope for that.

I cannot argue with that, but at the same time I don't want him to get the "Billy Treatment". Or worse.

Ah, look at me now, defending a power which I never wanted in the first place. You know, I wasn't very supportive of his rework back on 2019, I just wanted a few buffs and QoL improvements. And now, I am scared of a major nerf. Well, I suppose things change.

Yeah, I also think, in retrospect, some QoL-Changes and Buffs would have been enough. Stuff like that Survivors cannot finish actions when they are set asleep for example. Basically, changes which would lead Freddy-players to not focus on the Endgame most of the time (a lot of Freddy-players played like that, just waiting until Endgame when it was more difficult to wake up and getting a win with NOED) by buffing/improving him during the game, and a method to get awake during Endgame for Survivors.

In the end, we will have to wait, what they will do to him. I am always fine with keeping Freddy strong, but it would be nice if players have to invest some time in playing him to be good with him.

Why would you bother removing 4 man SWFs?

Most of them are alright to deal with and the amount of deathsquad SWFs is so tiny that it doesn't really matter

Yeah, like, how many Deathsquad SWFs are there in the whole world? 15? Worldwide? I guess the odds of going against one of them more than one time are already really low.

The rare existence of those does not justify the removal of SWF or 4 man SWFs in particular. Most of them are just people playing with their friends.

I am not sending a message, I am just telling the truth. The thing is, I understand this killer, or at least I've tried my best to. Allow me to share something with you:

Freddy has been my main ever since I first started playing, prior to his rework. Old Freddy was not as bad as most people say he was, but he did need a few buffs and QoL changes.

But we all know that didn't happen, and he got a full rework instead. Is he OP now? No, he is not. Never was, and never will be. At the end of the day, Freddy is a M1 killer. If you spam your Snares, that might cost you the match. Passive sleep doesn't make a huge difference if he doesn't have slowdown add-ons. And, if he does, it is easy to push through them and finish the gens. As for pallets... well, no one complain about pallets.

And that is pretty much it. There is no reason to ask for nerfs, never was.

The main problem is not that he is OP. There are very few people who say that Freddy is OP.

The main concern is that he is way too easy for how much he can do. Like, I dont like playing Freddy, I had him on P3-1 for a very long time. And sometimes I did Dalies with him, with Fire Up 1. And I still got a 4K in most of my games. Granted, those are only a handful, but I should not get 4Ks when playing a Killer with only a weak Tier 1-Perk.

The Devs just gave him everything without any Drawback. That is the problem.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

The game would have died before the Hag came out. People were clamouring for the ability to play with their friends since day one, and the game was rampant with people lobby dodging in hopes of finding their friends in queue.

SWF saved this game, and removing it would kill it.

SWF was planned from the start. So even if players wanted it, it was not the reason why it was implemented.

I mean, imagine creating a Multiplayer game where one side plays in a team without an option to play with friends. In 2016.

But yeah, without SWF, the game would be dead, this is correct.

This is all you need. Scorpionz is a really, really good Killer Main (far too small compared to other Killer players when it comes to Viewer Count, IMO) and he mains Pig.

My personal advice is to not focus on Slowdown too much when you make your build. IMO Pig does not need Slowdown, she has her own Build-In Slowdown, even tho it is RNG-based. So you might get good value out of it OR you can have 4 people escaping their Trap on the first try. So at max, you want to use Corrupt Intervention.

IMO Whispers and M&A should be staple on Pig, it allows to come close to a Gen which is worked on and maybe get a Grab. If not a grab, you at least will most likely get a Hit, because you come really close to them.

Pig is a really underrated Killer, some players call her weak, but she is decent - there are at least 10 Killers who are stronger than her, but you can have good games with her AND I usually have fun when playing Pig.

  • He is way too easy for how strong he is. It is fine to have simple Killers, but they are in general not the strongest. Freddy however is up there with the strongest Killer, 100% a contestant for a Top 5-Spot (with Nurse and Spirit being Number 1 and 2). IMO the other Killers for a Number 5 Spot are: Pyramid Head, Blight, Oni, Hag. Maybe even Huntress and Deathslinger.

All of them compared to Freddy are much harder to play.

Hopefully the Devs will do something to him so that not a crossaint can play him anymore and still get a decent result.

It could also means that the gameplay is boring and too repetitive.

I don't think tofu is a person to get bored of winning or losing, he seem to me he only care about the fun aspect of the game.

Yeah, but winning without effort is not fun IMO.

Like, I played Spirit a few days ago. I dont really like playing her, because she does not feel rewarding, it does not feel like I have outplayed the Survivor at all. Got a 4K, 12 Hooks, 3 Gens done, never in trouble of not winning the game. And that without Stridor against 2 Iron Wills.

As long as you dont want to torture yourself as Killer with Meme-Builds, you will have no problem most of the time in Red Ranks (if you are in that Rank as well, not talking about Matchmaking-Issues here).

One such streamer has a series of the weekly Shrine and showcases what the killer perks do.

If you are talking about OhTofu here, he even states in his Streams that playing Killer is boring for him. That does not mean that it sucks, it became too easy so that good players like Tofu really dont have any challenge anymore. (EDIT: @CakeDuty was faster, lol)

Let alone that most Killer Main-Streamers also enjoy playing Survivor.

  • And here are Killer Mains asking for more and more.

There is no control over getting healed by others. If someone unhooks me and instantly presses M1, why should my DS be gone at this point?

  • At least read the Perks if you want to tunnel instead of complaining about them.

  • I have seen this Hook not spawn there often, but I would have never thought about it being able to blocked off.

Should obviously not happen, camping etc. is different from just making an area unaccessible. An oversight from the Devs.
