I just don't get it. I always seem to get paired with randoms who have no business playing with the killer we got paired with.,
Yet as killer its way different. Its as if SWF gets exclusively paired with OTHER SWF or something.
Like how is my rank 8 killer always getting paired with really tough survivors? Then MY red rank survivor always gets paired with people who play horrible.
It's different for everyone. It's always a relief when I get paired with someone in my league, but I usually tend to match with killers that play dirty or are just way too aggressive for my skill level. Essentially the same thing you're describing as killer.

It's being used to cheat the Killer; he does not get his hook kill on the DCer. He now can't hunt for the Survivor given the hatch, either.
It's not some altruistic action to nobly sacrifice themselves for one player. It's a deliberate middle finger to cheat the Killer out of points and, possibly 2 full Kills.
I'd say in a situation where they're being carried to basement on first down and they DC, it's deliberately to screw everyone over. But in this situation, it just sounds like a way to give another survivor hatch without having to wait. Basically a key that requires that they lose everything in the process. The killer still gets points and the remaining survivor still gets points.
Essentially all you can really do is punish people harder for DCing, which happens on accident sometimes, or remove DCing altogether which is sometimes a necessary failsafe if the match is being held hostage or if a game breaking glitch occurs.
-
The survivor that does it is awarded no points (while everyone still in the match is) and takes a penalty. They're basically taking one for the team at that point. What more do you want? At least it's being used to benefit their team and not to rage quit.
-
I think it's silly to say that it's viable to cleanse every totem every match. A lot of matches just don't end up that way, especially in soloq but even with swf. That's part of the fun and surprise of going against hexes.
Noed can be really lame to go up against, but you can almost always tell when a killer's running it based on how they play. Honestly I find devour hope or blood warden to be more annoying, but it doesn't really kill the match unless the killer is a douche.
There's been a few times where I've seen killers make builds that center around noed and I've been very impressed. I'd like to see more of that rather than the same old boring meta builds. That goes for survivors too.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I don't see any problem with noed.
-
There is a lot of crying in this thread and I don't understand why.
-
There's always at least one killer for every survivor I think that they really hate going against.
-
I've been getting random red rank survivors, but I do get a lot of overpowered killers, some not even red ranks, that basically decide from the very start of the match that no one except them is allowed to play. They slug everyone even if they're doing everything but gens.
-
I don't see why we couldn't have a Shrine of Secrets-esque charm rotation shop where we could use shards to buy charms we've missed.

That's not a bad option necessarily but I think you're assuming that those players you don't like are the same people. This game is massive, the odds that you're even rarely facing the same players is miniscule. Its usually just more and more random players having that same style because there's no punishment for it, only rewards. Blocking players wouldn't make you face it less, just guarantee you never faced that one particular player again.
Very true, but I've had bad enough experiences with certain matches that I'd be fine with even that lol

They've been skipping over cosmetics that weren't part of a full outfit. All stand alone parts have been getting skipped over (Feng's skirt from Tome 1, Hag's hair from Tome 2, David's 2 stand alone cosmetics in Tome 1). Personally, I think they should still bring these pieces into the store under their correct category. After all, winter sweaters and even some killer weapons aren't considered "full outfits" yet they're still in the store as stand alone cosmetics.
Yeah, I think so too. My only guess is that they don't want to put something in the store that can't sell for a legendary price, but that's hopefully not the case.
-
You'll randomly depip from matches where a player disconnects sometimes. It sort of depends, since I've had matches where it doesn't happen and matches where it does. I'm not sure what causes it or how you can lose or gain points for a match you never participated in.

I'd say it's just rank, but this anniversary event is all about getting event items and farming blood points and I'm still getting really aggressive killers. It's a popular playstyle is all. I wish they'd just let us block players we don't want to play with. I'd take longer queue times if it meant I didn't have to run into someone that slugged the entire group and held the match hostage, or a survivor going out of their way to expose us to the killer without the killer knowing we're not friends. It might cut down on people being unfairly reported too, but you can only hope.
It's pretty backwards when you think about it. People complain about how terrible and unfair people are in the game, but we can't do anything to avoid playing with them and we're punished for backing out early. Why not just give us the option to not play with people we've had a bad experience with, with a warning on how it might affect matchmaking?
-
I'm concerned how it builds and degrades, but I'd rather not have to button mash in order to use the mechanic. Hopefully it'll be as comfy as hook is.
-
What if they rolled it back though and managed to break things even more? lol

Can you be specific? The devs have already said an LGBT character is coming, so that's a given. What am I assuming, exactly?
That I was gonna say everyone is bi, which I wasn't, and that I'm in denial that they'd ever introduce a character that's LGBT lol I just prefer things being neutral and characters being open to interpretation. Just like that one dude thinks everyone is hetero, some other person might think they're all gay. That's the fun of keeping things ambiguous.

If you're going to pull the "but they might be bisexual" card, then keep in mind that's not an argument against having explicitly LGBT relationships, the same way there are explicitly non-LGBT relationships.
Furthermore, you should also keep in mind that we're not debating whether LGBT characters should be added or not, because they are coming, no matter what. At this point, arguing about that is like arguing with a meteorologist that it's not actually going to rain while the first droplets are already hitting the ground.
I think you're assuming a lot.

Political like what? Nothing in OP was referring to something political. And have you read the lore of Jane, Yui or Zarina?
and there are several characters with confirmed heterosexual relationships. Sure they could be bi or pan or maybe even asexual. But being homosexual is kinda out of question for them. And let’s be real, everyone assumes they are heterosexual.
Not interested in those characters, but I don't recall anything in particular other than Jane getting embarrassed on TV and driving off a cliff.
It's up to interpretation. Maybe you assume they're all heterosexual, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Characters like Ash are undeniably hetero based on Evil Dead, but there's nothing I've seen from other characters I like that would suggest their sexuality one way or the other. Honestly it's a lot more fun with them as semi-blank canvases than anything set in stone.
-
I like the idea that the characters have no real sexuality, so we can project whatever we like onto them. Besides that, the characters are rarely all that consistent so anything political about them like that would just sound shallow anyway. No thanks.
-
I have the most fun dressing David and Jeff. Ash has good ones but I'd still like some other looks from the show too.

Yeah, I felt bad doing it to these survivors on The Game. I needed 3 traps... And I hate Trapper. His traps hurt me more than the survivors. To get it, I kind of just stood on one end of the hallway and then they were thirsty for the unhook and ran into it.
I tried placing them by pallets and near the stairs where they would drop... But the traps never activated. Or they deactivated them? I don't know how it works. I really dislike him as a killer though. The 30k bloodpoints probably weren't worth it, but I have no leveled killers and I am rushing 2k shards for barbecue and chili in the shop. So you know, I do what I have to do. Lul.
Yeah, I've bullied killers a bit with the new RE perks and Head On for my stun challenges lol I usually apologize and say it was for a challenge at the end if we're both on PC.
-
I do appreciate the fixes they added, since some of them were bothering me like the missing UI when spectating and getting disconnected when trying to join a friend's lobby. But I'd like it if my Ashy Slashy puppet that I spent money on months ago actually worked. And at this rate, we'll be lucky if we get to play the RPD map a month into the chapter.
-
I'd like if we could prestige other cosmetics too. David's the only character that gets more bloody clothes to play with. I'd be fine doing it more than 3 times if I got more options for customization.
One thing I really wish they'd do is give us a little reward for Devotion. A little 50k BP surprise would be neat.
-
Idk about him, but I'd get so effing bored if you asked me to watch a bunch of videos before I played. Some people are into that, but I'd rather eat crap for 1,000 matches and learn over time than following someone else's tutorial. I'd suggest to keep playing with him and guide him a bit here and there.
-
I have pretty bad luck so this happens to me pretty often too lol Normally it's a good opportunity to learn, but it gets frustrating when it's between tunneling matches or when you get tunneled afterward. The last trial I was in had a bad luck moment like that which turned into a second hook, but then the killer came right back as I was unhooked to chase me instead of the survivor that unhooked me who was still in plain sight.

You don't seem to get, or maybe don't care, that NoED would be 100% useless if it lit up at the start of a match.
It only works at the end of a match, so it only lights up at the end of a match. This is called 'balance'; that pesky thing that keeps Survivors from having an 'I win' button, no matter how hard they ask for one.
Survivors CAN counter NoED early by cleansing all totems, but the 'balance' (There's that word again!) to that is the additional time spent getting every totem.
This is balanced. It's not unfair. It's no OP. It's not 'unhealthy' or whatever smoke screen Survivors will invent next week to hide the nerfs they want. It. Is. Balanced.
Yeah, I agree. I think NOED is fine as is. It seems like a good counter to genrushing and even if it can be annoying for survivors, it activates in the endgame collapse where everything is no holds barred anyway.
-

I want dead hard gone, so badly, and for noed i'll say it again like so many else did, do 5 bones instead of rushing gens, survivors can take the perk away, survivors can't take dead hard away but with 1-2 perks and very few killer add-ons
People say this all the time, but I don't think they realize A) how every match varies and doing all 5 totems every match isn't always that viable and B) how boring it is to have to knock them out every single round. Part of the fun is looking but not finding them and taking a chance.
-
An example of how both sides complain about weird things.

You're allowed to not have fun against the way certain killers are built. I would be really hard-pressed to call the reverse bear trap anything but out of place and inconvenient. But the trials can still be fun regardless. Why play the game at all if you're not having at least a little fun.
-

I have to tunnel to even try and get a kill. Or at least I used to. I tried NOED and boi, I see what all the rage is about. Guaranteed kill basically, and if someone tries to unhook right in front of me... Two kills. It is beautiful. And they are more likely to leave after they figure out you have it on. Win-win-win.
Anyways, as much as this perk frustrates people, I can play fair before exit gates spawn. When they do? The kid gloves come off. Killah does what Killahs will, cuh.
Anyways, I digress, no. Tunneling was not fun. Slugging is not fun. I just want one kill. It is what I started playing for. Lul. Tag is fun and all, but you know how it be.
Endgame is always no holds barred imo. Sure it sucks to complete all your objectives and die right at the end, but that's a game where you got to complete all your objectives so it's still a win in my book. It's only ever really frustrating when the killer tunnels, slugs, etc. all match and then has NOED at the end because of course they would lol But generally speaking if it's in your arsenal and available to you, use it.

Really? Well darn, I missed those patch notes then. I will have to check.
Agreed. If the Killer wants *you out. You're out. Unless you just have the Killer's number that day and they refuse to disengage. Even really good team work is ... questionable in solo Q. It requires the right people having the right perks and using them at the right time in the right circumstances.
I'm fine with survs having a narrower margin of error than Killer. It's a 4v1 game. I, personally, just don't agree with the "the game/player made me play this way" mentality. Why complain about other players finding the most efficent way to do their objective when you're full throttling into the most efficient way to do yours?
(All *yous are general yous, not specific to a player or set of players.)
Yeah, I think it happened around the Kpop chapter.
Exactly, I don't really know what else I can do when the killer is so aggressive that I'm taken out of the game just for spawning close to them. That's not every match of course, but it's enough that there's a 1/3 chance that the killer is going to end up forcing someone out at the very beginning or that they'll resort to those tactics before too long. I don't ask to escape (unless I'm running a challenge lol), but I would at the very least like to play the game. Good teamwork helps there, but it can be rare like you said. But when it works, boy does it work lol
Thank you! That's exactly how I feel. I get the context that people feel like they have to adapt and get on board, but nobody is forcing anyone to play any kind of way. I don't tbag killers at the exit gate and dead hard out, I don't run typical meta builds, and I don't even rush gens. Just because everyone else does something doesn't mean I have to. Nobody does. Sure the game has issues, but you're the only one responsible for yourself.
It's crazy to me too because people admit to playing killer this way, but it's still apparently rare and survivors don't know what they're talking about. It's all justification.

It was released exclusively alongside this chapter is what I meant. People will buy the chapter along with DBD thinking they'll be able to play the RPD map and they can't, while Behavior still advertises it like you can.
BHVR has never advertised a DLC as being necessary to play the new map. This is what it says on the Steam store page:
NEW MAP: RACCOON CITY POLICE STATION*
Once home to the RPD’s elite S.T.A.R.S. unit, the labyrinthine hallways of this converted art museum are now overrun by the undead and host to a relentless evil.
*This map is free for all players.
There's plenty to complain about BHVR. This is not one of those things.
That was my point. But there's a fine line between being polite and being inappropriately empathetic with a team putting out a product. You don't have to point out problems with unfair demands or by shouting and cursing, but you also shouldn't fool yourself into worrying about how much they care when you're still being had.
The problem is that you immediately assume the worst possible intention, so you feel justified in saying you've "been had" and not caring about them as people.
You're not getting what I'm saying. I know the map is free, but it's a Resident Evil map introduced alongside the Resident Evil DLC chapter. People who like Resident Evil are more likely to buy the game with the chapter to get the DLC content, as well as to play the new map that's shown in the trailer and mentioned on the store page. They should make sure that it's accessible to people who pay for the chapter it was released with or make it known outside of a news tab in-game that it doesn't work along with an ETA.
They're still telling people who bought the game for the chapter that they can do something, only for them to get into the game and realize they can't. That's very much something worth complaining about, especially after 2 weeks.
They're a business. If they promise something and don't deliver while still accepting your money, I would call that being had. They have no problem selling cosmetics that don't work without any notice. What about their consumers? Do they not count as people too? I get having an open mind with things, but you can't let your brains fall out. If you spend too much time worrying about hurting their feelings and not bringing these things to their attention, then nothing will ever get done. And if they're competent business people, they should know that.
Again, you don't have to be nasty, but it's not about serving them or getting on their good side when they provide content and ask for feedback.
-
I feel you. I'm a survivor main. I'm in no way new, but I get matched with red ranks all the time that try to end the match as quickly as possible regardless of how I play. Add angry people on my team that DC or suicide on the hook to the mix and it gets really old really fast. I wish I could just opt out of playing with people that do that, but I doubt that'll ever be a thing.
I hope you have a better time in the game, but unfortunately it's full of bitter people that don't really wanna have fun.
-
Honestly, get used to it. Matches are pretty aggressive and unfair lately. It's becoming more common to spend a significant amount of the match doing nothing and leaving with very little emblems or bloodpoints.
The best you can do is play the way you want and hope things will work out here and there. That's what I do at least.

Both fixing it or adding a disclaimer takes too much effort for Behavior to do, apparently.
Tbh I think they'd rather not mention it's broken so that they don't lose any sales, which is really crappy. If they're gonna take their time with no ETA, then at least let people know. Then again, they're still selling the RE chapter without a disclaimer that the RPD hasn't been available since launch 2 weeks ago.

I see keys in maybe 1 out of 20+ matches and that includes people bringing broken keys. The fact is that DS was never a great 'anti-tunnel' perk and it's nerf exacerbated it's failing in that area. People don't take it because it's restrictions vs. it's benefit are lackluster at best. So now when there is no obsession, the Killer knows that no one has the perk. This is especially deterimental in solo Q when they can't coordinate perks.
They changed that iirc. There's always an obsession so you can hide DS now. But in my experience, it's only successful if other people are there to help you or if the killer gives up. The only really good anti-tunnel tactic is teamwork imo.
-
I posted about it a couple times before they finally acknowledged it, but it still hasn't gotten fixed yet. The least they can do is add a disclaimer about it so people don't buy it and realize it's broken.

It's not. People just project and have very skewed views on what actual tunneling and camping is.
I was literally called a face camping POS...In a match on mothers dwelling where I hooked someone and was the WHOLE way across the map..They took so long to save someone that I telelported(Freddy) back for the final 10 seconds to make sure they went to struggle..Or I got an easy 1 for 1 exchange...They went to struggle and that was enough to set them off on me..10 seconds in which I walked away again once they hit struggle
It's anecdotal. I've only seen keys used maybe 10 times max since I've been playing, but some people playing killer see them constantly. Tunneling and camping has noticeably increased for me while I play lately, but other people haven't noticed a difference.
-
2nd match of the day was a tunneling match. Off to a good start. 😭

My favorite to go up against is Pig. I hate her mechanics because they feel so out of place in the game and allow her to be really unfair, which fits her character from the films but isn't fun to play against. But she's one of the most social killers and I always enjoy finding a Pig that wants to play around a bit. I like Trapper and Oni and Michael just because they're cute ngl.
I've had a lot of unfun matches against Spirit so I don't care for her. Same with Hag and the auto-focus the camera does. Twins kinda suck too just with the hit detection on Victor.
The only killers I really truly despise though tend to be Huntress and Trickster. Not even because I've had notable matches against them or anything. Something about them just annoys me. I think with Trickster it's because he's the annoying skinny Kpop anime guy which comes off as more of a joke than anything.

There will always be crappy rounds. I've had sessions where I could not catch a break in the past!
Focus on what you think you can do to improve your own game, because you can control that. You can't control some rounds where nothing goes your way, due to poor team mates or a killer with a chip on their shoulder, but you can look back and wonder if there are small adjustments you can make to the basic gameplay: "Ought I risk doing a totem that close?", "Next time on that map, I'll loop a different way through that jungle gym", "I'll make sure I'm near a locker when someine is downed", "If it's Bubba, screw the rest of my team, I'm outta there!:p"- little adjustments that can carry you a long way. :)
Yeah, I've been playing off and on since 2019 or so and I've picked up a lot. Still not the greatest player, but I play to have fun and not to be super competitive. Normally things were pretty balanced in that regard but gameplay has been very aggressive lately so it's time to adapt.

I've seen it talked about on the forums, the days of "old Hex: Ruin," where the matches were slow so killers felt less pressure to tunnel and camp, and they mention the survivors would end with 25k but be mad because they died. Now, matches are fast and survivors are happy to escape with 15k. If that's true, it's very sad. But, maybe that's a sign that a large part of survivor gameplay isn't fun. I mean, sitting on each gen for 80 seconds is a really boring mechanic, so maybe that results in winning being the only fun part of playing survivor for a lot of people? If that's the case, it's a real problem.
As time's gone on, I've started to mostly only play survivor if I have a challenge to do. That might change now that my friend's gotten the game and we can sandbag each other to death, but solo survivor is usually a pretty crappy experience, it feels like I'm still the 1 in the 1v4.
Edit: (I did play during the days of old Hex: Ruin, but my memory isn't the best, everything blends together. The biggest change I've felt in this game over the years, besides the amazing addition of the EGC, is the inversion of queue wait times.)
Gens honestly suck. I'd love if they were more interactive, but they're boring and don't give much toward any sort of payout. I mean you open the gates, but you get more points breaking totems and hooks and helping your team out. I think new people to the game are too scared to do anything but gens, and a lot of not new people just want to leave the match as quickly as possible. It just seems counterproductive to not take advantage of a full trial and to go for the least amount of points just so you can say you've won.
I do that with friends sometimes too lmao Some of my favorite matches were spent with a friend and the rest of the solo queue walking in circles and emoting until the killer found us and downed us all.
